me after making a character (villain) that does so many bad things but as deliberate choices that conflict with their morals which is still bad regardless of guilt they may feel. and at the same time she's not "intrinsically evil," nor do they enjoy it in any way. and also they come across neurodivergent, and i don't want THOSE traits to be demonised. and they do still have lines they won't cross which is interesting compared to other characters but they are very very awful still and state this themself: hm i think. i think i did a little more nuance than i needed to here. i'm sure i won't mess that up and people will read things as intended and in good faith :)

I've been chewing on what fears the bg3 characters would be because I do that with almost every piece of media I like now.

Gale is the Beholding (hubris, pursuit of knowledge above all else, his ex can literally see everything he does in/with the Weave). You could make an argument for Desolation b/c of the orb but I think that's secondary. Wyll is the Hunt imo, but the Desolation works for him too- I think his situation is similar to that Hunter we meet whose name I'm forgetting, whose inciting incident has to do with the Dark. I thought the same thing about Karlach but I think she's Desolation instead of Hunt, both aesthetically and because she was actively betrayed and is, you know, dying. Shadowheart is the Dark. Halsin could honestly be the Lonely: he's pretty isolated from the people around him emotionally. An island unto himself etc etc. Lae'zel is the End imo. You'd think she'd be Hunt but End fits into Vlaakith's whole deal (victim of the End, avatar of the Hunt?). Astarion could be either the Buried (since that covers abuse as well, he was literally kept underground/out of the sunlight, etc etc) or the Hunt. I'm a bit undecided there. I don't know enough about Minthara to make a call on her and I don't want to just say Web because of Lolth. Slaughter, maybe? Since that fear covers war. Jaheira and Minsc are Hunt too, I think (there's a lot of Hunt but that comes with the territory when you're adventuring).

Gortash is Web and you cannot convince me otherwise. I think Orin is Slaughter but, honestly, Durge seems more associated with the Extinction to me because of Bhaal's end goal. The Desolation and the Lonely tag-teamed Ketheric's ass but he's an avatar of the End. Dame Aylin is an avatar of the Hunt, victim of the Dark, and Isobel is an avatar of the End a la the main End avatar we see (Oliver? I really need to re-listen...)

There's obviously a lot of overlap and bleed because there always is. I've been wanting to make art based off of this but it's not happening anytime soon so I figured I'd shout about it into the void a bit lol

I decided to rewrite the plot of Fire Emblem Fates for some damn reason, so here's Corrin if they were twins and also children (no idea what their canon names would be - that's still undecided). The rewrite starts with the two of them and Azura as kids playing in a Hoshidan forest until Nohrian spies capture one of the twins in retaliation for the Hoshidans stealing away Azura when she was a baby. One thing leads to another, and the other twin, terrified and enraged, loses control and awakens their dragon powers in response, trying to fight back to no avail. Their twin gets stolen away and taken to Nohr, and Azura comforts the newly-empowered twin with her singing voice, allowing them to slowly return back to their original state.

If this was actually the in-game storyline, the player would theoretically be able to pick which twin they want to play as, the other one being taken away. The route split would still exist (with three routes), but I'm thinking that would happen after a timeskip (the protagonist, Azura, etc. would then be the ages they are in the original).

All of this is in the early stages of development lol, but it's kind of fun reimagining Fates. We all know the story is rubbish, but I did enjoy playing through the games when they came out, and I think it has a lot of unexplored potential.

Probably the first batch from everything-else-but-Inktober 2020. I decided to drop the idea of messing with inks and straight up exercised on things I usually fail at / wanted to improve. The whole challenge was, well, a challenge. I remember struggling from day 1 to 30 because I'm terrible at studies, I tend to filter and filter and filter and... But I like the results!! Oh this game looks super interesting,,, can you tell us more about it? Plot? Triggers? Characters?

Hi! Thank you for your question, of course I can dive into some more details!

Plot

I like the idea of a sort of... Slice of life game? A daily life cycle where you can decide what you'd like to do each day, with the added stress of time constraints and such. The current beginning of the game has the player character struggling to find work, and your rent has just increased for your apartment! So naturally, you have to go out and find work! This will lead into meeting your first love interest, but there will be other ways to meet love interests; they're not all tied to work.

Events and forces will try to stop you from being able to succeed in your goals, which will be entirely up to the player on how they want their life to look. Want to dodge your landlord forever and not pay them? You can try to do that! Want to remain in your plush apartment by finding good honest work? You can try that too! Want to go for more seedy ways of obtaining money? You'll be able to try that too!

There will be other goals in the game too, particularly tied to love interests and their story lines. As well as seasonal (as in in-game seasonal, not like a battle pass LOL) events such as Christmas, Valentine's Day, etc.

I want there to be visual novel elements too, with interactable "special scenes" that differ from the majority of the written text scenes.

I'm trying not to get too ahead of myself because we're still early in development, but that's my initial idea anyway. A slice of life with drama, adult themes, and various goals (and ways to obtain them).

Triggers

Because of the games early development I can't reasonably give you much in the way of triggers.

One of the first love interests being added is a yandere, but I'm not much of a fan of violence myself so at most there'll just be threats or off screen violence pertaining to other characters (never the player character). I can imagine there being some bad (soft)endings, as in the player character will never die but some bad things will still happen as a consequence of certain goals not being met...

So I'm not sure how to answer this! I'll for sure keep track of the triggering content as it's being added though, and I'll keep a list on this blog so users can follow along with it. In the interest of accessibility though I think implementing a "Trigger Content Toggle" could be good, so that if any of the triggering content is too much for one player then it can be toggled out for something less triggering, and it's something I'll look into!

Characters

I'm still undecided if I want to keep characters with a "canon" genders and sexualities, or if I want to let the player decide... Currently, I'm going with the canon option, with the potential to allow players to change them in future, so I'm focusing on adding one male and one female character to begin with! I don't want to give too much away but...

Lucas: The first male to be added! He's the yandere character I mentioned above. Lucas works as a personal trainer, and so I'm sure you can imagine where you can find him. If you're around him for long enough then his obsession over you begins, leading to the typical yandere shenanigans. Stalking, threats, intimidation. He's really cocky and confident in his physical strength, thanks to his job, so while he's likely to exert his strength over you; he'd never actually hurt you. His main theme will be... Pet play!

Angel: The first female to be added! She's a soft and shy girl, working in the local cafe. She likes to spend her time in parks and libraries when she isn't working, and if you visit her enough then she might just open up a little! She has a big sister type of personality, and maybe you can help her come out of her shell a little, perhaps even learn her secrets? If you did, I'm sure she'd more readily be able to protect you! Her main theme will be... Worship!

There are other characters I plan to add, such as:

Jun, a florist and a "friend" of Lucas. (Male)

Theo, the antithesis of Angel, though strangely, they get along fairly well. Nobody really knows what they do... (NB)

Killian & Wolf, an almost couple that you can help get together, or... Maybe you'd rather be with one of them? Or both? They work at a detective agency, and you'll likely run into them one way or another... (Male)

And many more!

EISW- what's up with Dorn? Does Perturabo still hate him? Who did he murder?

Inwit is doing significantly worse in terms of uh... anything being alive, it's what I've been referring to as a "dying planet" (though not dead yet!), so Dorn basically grows up in a bunker from Fallout. quieter, emptier, everyone a lot more cooped up and frustrated from that, etc. because of this, Dorn ends up a little less "Emperor of Inwit" and a little more "small town sheriff trying desperately to keep everyone from snapping and murdering each other"

when he's found, he's very excited to suddenly have equals and peers and new people to talk to whose lives he maybe isn't responsible for, but he also quickly finds that Imperial events are loud and crowded and chaotic in a way he's not used to. he does get better with it, but early on he tries to slip off to recollect for a moment and finds himself face to face with our favourite mean girls duo, Ferrus and Fulgrim. they do actually become very good friends up until the heresy, at which point Fulgrim suggests the idea of treason and Ferrus, who is the executioner in EISW, almost kills him. Dorn, who is also there and was undecided up until that point, decides he's more anti-Fulgrim Getting Murdered than he is pro-Imperium's Will, kills Ferrus deader than dead, and then disappears for a couple years. I'm counting it as a murder because it's funny and also because Dorn then makes efforts to get rid of his body without anyone but Fulgrim knowing LOL

also Perturabo sometimes finds himself jealous that Dorn seems to naturally get certain social interactions without having to put in the work, dude literally grew up in a bunker smaller than a university graduating class why does he have natural social aptitude, but then he just reminds himself that Dorn is dumb as fuck AND willingly chooses to hangout with F2 and all is right in the world. It's a little harder not to get frustrated with Dorn having had so much free time his entire life, but again, Dorn is dumb as fuck. for his own part, Dorn finds it impressive that Perturabo can look at very complicated political scenes and understand fully what's happening in them and how to lever them to his advantage, especially given that he pretty obviously had to teach himself this as a learned skill, but not enough to ever try and make friends. also 'cause F2 would either give Perturabo an apoplexy or he'd blow them up

I do! Or at least I did until the showrunners decided to ruin it by booting Henry Cavill just because he wanted to keep the show true to the source material as much as possible. Watched season 3 but unlikely to watch further b/c Liam is what you get when you order your Hemsworth from Wish lol. AAAAAANYWAY.

The story is this... 😜

I got inspired for it by the interactions between Jaskier and Yennefer in season 2. The affection and warmth that lay beneath the bickering, the way they opened up to each other and so easily read the other, the way Jaskier ran to Yennefer after she came back through the portal to help her up and check her wounds and the glare he cast at Geralt right after making sure Yen was physically okay. The Yennefer/Jaskier interactions in season 3... the hug, and the continued softness and affection... fed further into it.

So basically my fic is going to start in Kaer Morhen right after season 2. Geralt still giving Yen the cold shoulder, making it clear he's only letting her stay for Ciri's sake, that sort of thing. Not outright mean or anything but definitely keeping distance and keeping things all business and practicality. Jaskier, being the perceptive shit he is, picks up on how much it hurts Yen even when she can hide it from everyone else. He takes it upon himself to stick close to her and do his best to cheer her up or at least distract her, because he knows she genuinely regrets what she did and that if she had known not just that Ciri was so important to Geralt but what Voleth Meir was really after she never would have made that stupid deal. Jaskier sees that she's changed and is continuing to change for the better. At first she thinks he's only spending so much time around her to keep tabs on her for Geralt and to a lesser extent the other witchers, but she comes to realize that's not the case at all and that Geralt not only had zero to do with it but actively tried to dissuade Jaskier from spending so much time with Yen. Over time and with a series of small events like Jaskier barging into her room to wake her from a nightmare that's making her scream out in her sleep, or her conjuring his favorite wine, and other things that indicate genuine caring, they both start catching feels.

They try to ignore it and refrain from acting on it out of respect for Geralt and neither wanting to put him in a position where he has to choose... or feels like he has to choose... between the two of them. Either someone (undecided who, but one of the other witchers or maybe Ciri) gives Geralt a talking-to though or he overhears them talking about their feelings and wanting each other but not wanting to hurt him/make him choose or feel like he has to choose, etc and he finally not only gives his blessing so to speak but outright encourages them to find happiness with each other for as long as they can. Though in typical Geralt fashion there will be threats of death and dismemberment if either ever even thinks about breaking the other's heart. I'm working on some potential ideas for expanding Jaskier's lifespan but don't have anything definitive yet for that.

(Potential future separate fic with Geralt/Yennefer/Jaskier as a poly triad but no plot for it as of yet, just vibes.)

Also how old are, I don't mean it in a prying way but I am trying to understand how you write such complex and intricate characters.

Note to tumblr at large (I don't think anon thinks this, but i've seen weird takes before and want to avoid confusion about my own stance): I don't think characters have to be deep to be compelling or entertaining or good. Not all of mine are. People can like what they like and write what they feel like. imo, I'm not better or worse than anyone else, we just have different preferences, moods, etc. both as writers and readers.

Anon, tysm . 🖤 Raider joel feels seen, and I'm flattered by everything you've said and asked. Realistically, I don't think I have the bandwidth to make a new complex character rn, but I could possibly do something short later on, or if you wanted to try your own, that could be fun. I took psych 101 but have learned a little more by morbid curiosity. I've always had dark fascinations which has led me to spend many late nights reading macabre stuff (like nonfiction articles) and watching horror movies. Plus, let's just say I've always had a rich inner life somehow rejecting notions of what "should" interest me lol, so my mind has been tinkering with dark fantasies way longer than i've been writing or reading them. Writing insights below.

If you have at least some kind of vibe in mind, or even just an action or line of dialogue, you could start writing -- it doesn't have to be the story you want, it could be anything, like put him in a situation experimentally. Ex: Make something bad happen to him, what's going through his head? As you write, the stuff that begins to come intuitively could reveal a lot about the character that's buried in your head, and their identity and motivations could become clearer. If I have an idea of what they'll do, I might think to myself, why are they doing this and what causes them to rationalize it (if they do), and/or what causes someone to still [ex: accept? fuck?] them with their flaws and bad deeds. It could be something about either person or both. I won't usually spell these things out, but it will affect how they act together and on their own, how they experience things, etc.

Hihi! Im a bit new here (cough even though I’ve read like everything already cough) and i just wanna say i FUCKING, LOVE your depiction of grunts!!! Ive always felt they were more, animal like? With the paws and growling and purring and aaaa! /pos

But i do have a bit of a question for you!! You you don’t need to answer, and if you don’t want too you can just ignore this entirely! But i wanted your thoughts and opinions on this, do you think grunts have mating cycles? Aka, heats/ruts? Its been on my mind quite a bit, and as someone who doesn’t necessarily write fanfiction, i just wanted an opinion from someone who does on this little thought!!

Hello, Pop! Welcome to the blog, I'll make sure to add you to my Anon list. :) I'm also really happy you like the way I depict grunts; I've always tended to lean into a more non-human portrayal of them since I really like to explore the differences they'd have with us. (It also made enough sense to me with the paws they have and the purring hcs I'd seen before, etc.) Plus, I'm just a big fan of non-human characters and grunts can fit this really well, being the cross-faced homunculi that they are lol.

I'd also be more than happy to answer your question too. If we were to go even more into how animalistic grunts could be, to put it shortly, yes! I do in fact think that grunts would probably go through mating cycles. Or at least some of them would.

The reason I make this clarification is because of how generations and cloning work. Basically, my hc is that all Gens before G03s (G03LMs) would probably have these cycles, but after G03's, all of the new grunts are clones, which makes it more unlikely.

(Further clarification below with a little weird biology stuff I know fsr, this response got pretty long. 😅 I do include a note where the complicated stuff ends tho, if you don't care for reading it. 👍)

This includes G04s and MAGs, according to the wiki. Given how dystopian the Nexus Core and AAHW are (specifically the AAHW, with how a majority of them are also S3LFless), I think population control might be an element they'd include. Or at least they'd try to get rid of heats/ruts because it makes grunts "unproductive" or some weird corporate nonsense like that. 🙄 So I can see some genetic manipulation going on to sort of "erase" the behavior for the cycles.

Whether the later generations even have the capability of experiencing them depends on how this behavior is altered. Though if we go with genetics, and use the logic of pseudogenes (genes that are not "used" but are still there in the genetic code), then technically one could have a G04 experience a heat cycle/rut by sort of "reawakening" the gene. This could be by grafting a part of from an earlier grunt to them, fiddling more with their genetics, etc.

And even with pseudogenes and "dormant" traits, some clones would still probably exhibit mating cycles as the product of a flawed development cycle. (Called "atavisms" in biology, where ancestral traits occasionally make a reappearance in new lines.) If you want to go really far, all of this biology stuff could probably be applied to fertility as well in later clones (because population control ¯\_(ツ)_/¯), but I digress.

As you can tell, I've probably put too much thought into this lol. Basically, what this means is the following grunts would have mating cycles: Phobos (G01), Hank (G02), Deimos (G02), Sanford (G02), and 2BDamned (G02).

With G03LMs, they're stitched together corpse parts so I am undecided (I still need to figure out how that works lmao), but with all gens after 3 it's probably pretty unlikely. But not impossible.

1. Can we get a lil' bit of Kiril's backstory (other than running away from home). As far as i understood, he ran away with his sister/friend Yesui and something bad happened to her. So, maybe now you can give some extra details on their runaway and her death (if it was death, obviously)?

2. What about Kiril's parents? I didn't get the thing about forehead scales (maybe, it's described in ffxiv wiki or smth, idk) and who were they? Some sort of a ruler? Just soldiers?

3. Not really important but how do you pronounce Kiril and Yesui's names (full, of course)?

wheee!!! oh i’m so happy to answer any and all questions about him he’s my current muse. there’s going to be a lot under here you‘ve been warned.

1) I actually rolled Kiril’s last name and ended up getting one of the tribes with canon lore which is GREAT for me bc it helped me mold his backstory more. I’m not at the part where I actually get to learn about ‘em in-game cuz i only started playing like a month ago but to boil down what I know, the Dotharl tribe believes in reincarnation & as a whole the Xaela- pausing. Kiril is an Au Ra (race), a Xaela Au Ra (black scales; nomadic), and a Dotharl (tribe). hope that makes sense lol. anyways as a whole the Xaela are pretty unwelcoming to outsiders and even Xaela from other tribes. Every year they have a Naadam which is battle where the victor “claims dominion” over the Azim Steppe (homeland) for the year. The Dotharl emphasize not fearing death and not being a fucking pussy

all of that is setup LOL. Anyways, Kiril was born shortly after the death of a notable warrior (also named Kiriltugh) and so he was set on the path of becoming a warrior since essentially day one. thing is, he a.) hated it and b.) was shit at it. he struggled to pick up even the most basic parts of fighting and suffered a lot of berating due to it. at the same time, an older girl in the tribe was making strides and becoming a veritable golden child in the eyes of the adults. that was Yesui! she was incredibly strong for her age and seemed to have a natural gift for battle. but very importantly, she was also understanding of Kiril’s struggles & helped train him even after plenty of other people had declared him a lost cause. eventually though, despite her best efforts (and Kiril’s improvements! turns out a mentor who doesn’t yell at you is a lot more effective) Kiril made up his mind to just. leave. when he told Yesui about his plan, she insisted on coming with him. even with Kiril protesting (you’re doing fine here; don’t ruin your life by coming along!) she wasn’t going to let a 10 year-old leave on his own.

They travel together for an undecided amount of time- left vague so I can update it when i get to later expansions (heehee) until they eventually end up in Coerthas, a snowy region. To my understanding this is pretty fucking far away so I think they must’ve argued their way into an adventuring party or several to make it all that way. they didn’t exactly have a plan; it was just “keep going until we feel like it.”

(a realm reborn spoilers until the next question.)

in Coerthas, things take a pretty sharp nosedive for the two of them and they end up alone and very, very lost. their adventuring party was attacked by a beast tribe and the materials they were carrying were ran off with. They manage to find a cave which offers them a small amount of shelter. Yesui leaves Kiril there while she goes to look for any kind of settlement they might be able to hole up in. she’s gone for ages. and when she comes back, excitedly promising Kiril she’s found someplace safe, she seems… off. she’s holding his hand a little too tight, moving a little too fast. she assures Kiril that where they’re going is safe, warm, and “beautiful”, but the storm raging around them only seems to be getting worse.

…i’m gonna get a little more technical from here because i want to make the rest of this into a comic rather than writing it out.

what’s happened to Yesui is she’s become enthralled by a primal god. Garuda, the resident primal of the region, is in the process of being summoned by the same beast tribe that attacked them, with the items they were transporting (large quantities of crystals). the more followers a primal accrues, the more powerful they become, and something in the region has caught her attention.

Kiril.

so, using Yesui as means to draw him to her, she means to take control of him as well. unbeknownst to either of them, Kiril is under the protection of Hydaelyn, a different (benevolent) goddess who grants Kiril immunity to the thrall of primals. in shielding him, She also ends up shattering the crystals being used in the ritual, causing it to fail. in the ensuing chaos, Kiril escapes with Yesui and manages to find an actual settlement. he begs for help for him and his closest friend- who has remained enthralled even after the disruption of the ritual.

the thing about those who become enthralled is that there is no helping them. what’s more, every follower is another source of strength for a primal.

she cannot be allowed to live.

despite his desperate pleas, despite his promises that she’ll never hurt anyone, Yesui is put to death.

he is far, far from home, and he’s never been more alone in his life.

….then some stuff happens and he becomes an adventurer. i don’t wanna fill in everything just yet, haha.

2.) His mom is a goldsmith and his dad’s a hunter! His mom’s forehead scales are just a trait female Au Ra have. men don’t tend to have as many/any scales there.

3.) Key-rill-too (full name is Kiriltugh) and Yesui is like. yeh-sooey. kinda :?

Kiril doesn’t tend to go by his full name because he feels he hasn’t earned it. this is more so a thing before he saved the entire realm; now it’s more of an affectionate nickname from friends.

tbh I'm fairly adaptable wrt sleeping - if I'm tired enough, I'm just instantly knocked out the moment my head's horizontal - but hm softish bed bc of the Spinal Agonies, dark room (I'm not picky about how dark it is but yk dark is still nice), it being cool (I can generally deal with it being cold when I'm trying to sleep but it being hot is like torturous lol) my cat cuddling next to me etc

oh also it being quiet. even aside from like. Everything. one of the reasons why I don't like going on family vacations is bc both my parents snore like there's no tomorrow lol

Other miscellaneous thoughts (kfp4 spoilers)

- I enjoyed Han. He didn't get much screentime though but I loved his unhinged laughter and the way he rolled about. Wish we got to see some more of him (idk quite how it would be fit in though chchfhvj)

- I was a huge fan of kfp3 breaking the urn of whispering warriors again (hope I got the name of it correct cause I'm just trying to go by memory with that one). And. Hmm. On a pure fan service level I do love that they actually went for it AGAIN. because I'm honestly just personally a sucker for it as a Bit. Just. I'm a liiiittle bit on the fence about it, undecided about whether it's a "joke's overstayed it's welcome"/too repetitive, or whether to love that they leaned into it/brought it back again as a gag. Because on the one hand, over reliance on something like that can be lazy, BUT simultaneously it can take guts to just go for it wherein the amount of repetition becomes part of the humour of it, and you just take the risk of it being seen as lazy for the purposes of the Bit. Personally I never really expected it to get reused again but in theory i love the idea. Like, I'm SURE I've actually made a post in the past about just thinking it would be great to lean into it as a repeating gag - and then they DID bring it back again in this movie! So while I'm somewhat wary, tbh I did enjoy that. Po's whole "oh no! The urn of whispering warriors! Which I've already broken! TWICE!" was hilarious imo. The slight delay and then it actually getting broken. And then a very defeated looking Po SLIDING among the shards while there's the iconic sound effect(s) of those poor lost souls crying out???? Yes please that was so damn funny. I loved that. Like again I had this certain wariness about it but nah, that was fun. I love fun. Ultimately I appreciated that gag fhgdghggk. And the SOUND EFFECT gets me every damn time it's just sooo iconic and priceless

- it's interesting because like. Kfp3 felt somewhat less "legitimate" than the first two movies in terms of like... How "authentic" it felt to the world of Kung Fu panda as established in the first two movies. For example, the first two movies have mystical elements and whatnot, divination visions etc, but it kind of seems to operate at the periphery of an otherwise mostly grounded world, relatively speaking, meanwhile the third movie essentially brings the equivalent of magic front and centre and such and at the time it kind of felt out of place, but like, I was able to accept it, and many years have passed since then, etc. and when I talk about legitimacy I mean how effective suspension of disbelief is + whether the movie feels "canon" etc. movie 3 still felt very canon to me even though in some parts it felt slightly less so. Movie 4 is definitely reeeeeally challenging on that front, much more so than 3, but overall.... I mean it does still mostly feel canon to me which was why I mostly accepted and had fun with the movie. But some parts definitely feel uncanon and break my suspension of disbelief, so like, I'm just gonna be retconning it in my mind for my own sake. I can't accept kai still existing as canon or he and Shen bowing or Tai lung's role in this movie etc. so this movie just kind of dips in and out of canon to me. I pick and choose. I curate my own experience LOL. Also other fans have already covered this extensively and I've voiced my grievances on this before (in private though I'm P sure) but sincerely, the way the Dragon Warrior title is treated in this movie as something that can/should be and needs to be passed on to someone else is REALLY annoying and goes against the first film. So I def have beef with that. And it could have been fixed easily enough I think... If it wasn't the title itself with all its attached connotations/lore but rather just a more generalised choosing of a successor that was needed, or if at least the LORE of the first film when it comes to the title was more properly acknowledged and addressed to explain why it needs to be passed on, idk. So basically I will just be ignoring that in my opinion of canonicity because the plot still works the same without needing to bring the Dragon warrior title specifically into it, you know? There's a bunch of little things I'm just gonna be soft retconning like that tbh.

Anyway part of what made 3 jarring/feel less Legit is it didn't follow the established "tradition" of opening the movie with a more 2d/stylised sequence not taking place in direct reality (e.g. a dream) before transitioning to "irl". And of course this movie also didn't do that at all lol. So it's more easy to write off as not 1:1 to the rules of the world XD

BUT the third movie still had excellent colour theming!!!! And this fourth movie dropped the ball there and just didn't bother with any of that. Which is disappointing but points to the trend of 3 and 4 veering more and more to seemingly "noncanon" territory where it breaks the "rules", etc.

And like, I will put my hand up and say that I was never the most observant fan when it came to this franchise's dedication to colour symbolism - I'm sure I only know about it + know how important it is/has been to these films because of my participation in the fandom. It's not an aspect I'm super invested in beyond the aesthetic/coherence of it. I'm moreso invested on a meta level due to my awareness of it having been a rule of production + other fans calling attention to/caring about it. So while it doesn't make a huge difference to me on a surface level, it really sucks and goes to show that the people working on this one didn't Get these films or have the same level of care that the others had if they couldn't even be bothered to have some colour symbolism consistency like the others did. Just another reason 4 fits in way less with the other 3.

- when Tai Lung goes "well, I saw THAT coming" it was just so bad. Just very "well, that happened" and "he's right behind me isn't he" tier dialogue 😭

AND LIKE. I'm not entirely opposed to him having lines like that - it CAN work, but only if you actually give him other more substantial stuff to do first. The character needs to have serious moments to balance more comedic lines out, to "earn" them. Like I said in a previous post he needed more presence and to actually do something. God it's like. The fourth continued 3's trend of tending to more lighthearted stuff it's like it's AFRAID to be tense and serious ! But you NEED intensity and serious moments. A character like Tai Lung needs serious stuff before you can jump to more lighthearted stuff with him and idk what the movie gave us on that front just wasn't enough for me. Like I don't wanna be too harsh, I guess I like it in theory, it is fun. But it needed to be more earned and better executed than it was

So, some weeks back my sister made an off-hand comment about a story I should write, and, like the gremlin I am, I've been knawing on it since. This is the result...

It all started with a discussion about the names of bird groups (murder of crows, unkindness of ravens, parliament of owls, etc) and how I should write a series of books about birds based on these names.

So I researched some names and made a list, then classified them into "social classes" based on those names.

With this sorting somewhat in mind, I started coming up with a series of titles and rough/brief outlines of each. Meaning I've got a new 9-book series to write at some point...

The titles and summaries of the Birds of the Brambles series are:

Mischief & Murder: What starts as a prank war between neighbours turns deadly when someone starts recreating the pranks as a means of murder.

A Pretence of Unkindness: Things get complicated when a small time actor is mistaken for the proxy of a gang leader in charge of negotiating a truce.

The Seige of Gangs: The Brambles have been locked down so the authorities can restore order. Except they don't seem all that interested in helping the neighbourhood residents.

The Trouble of Deceit: It's a lesson they should have known -- only the residents of the Brambles care about the residents of the Brambles. And only by coming together can they regain control of their neighbourhood.

Cast of Murder: When your enemies are playing dirty you've got to play even dirtier. But schemes never go as smoothly as intended.

Gangs & Company: Help comes from an unexpected ally when all seems lost. But there will be a price to pay, and it could mean the destruction of all they've worked for.

Deceit of Parliament: Betrayal was inevitable, but no one it expected it to turn out this way. At this point, they will need to work with an old enemy, but trust is in short supply.

A Bevy of Trouble: The old adage "the enemy of my enemy is my friend" has held true so far, but, as things are brought back under control, the fragile alliance threatens to crumble.

Unkind Pity: A new player in the game of power could stabilize things, or could be the spark that finally burns it all to the ground.

I am undecided if the characters will be full-on birds (ala Zootopia), anthropomorphic birds (ala Jonathan from the new D&D movie), or shapeshifters of some sort.

The two pranksters from book 1 will be the main characters throughout the series, but there will be a full cast of others that join one-by-one (or two) over the course of the series. Know nothing about them, other than that one is a crow and the other is a raven, they are 17 and 18 in book 1 and will be 22 and 23 by the end, and will not date/fall in love with each other (though people will ask/assume semi-regularly)

So... yup... lol

Fragaria Memories OCs - A little more info/Minor expansion on their concepts (that came to me in one day, before the first episode of the drama comes out lol)

Initial concept (link to be added)

I haven't really come up with names for them, so here are their temporary names:

Red Kingdom Inhabitant: Coffee

Blue Kingdom Inhabitant: Prunellie

Noir Kingdom Inhabitant: Nicolette

Overarching concept

I mentioned that I think of them as background characters. My idea is that they represent the woodland creatures or little animals seen alongside the Sanrio characters in various artwork or animations. So. . .

Coffee would represent a squirrel

Prunellie would represent a yellow bird

Nicolette would represent a mouse

Note: I don't mean for them to represent the reoccurring minor characters, like Joey the blue mouse.

Plans for them/their stories

Their stories are gonna be about their daily lives, basically.

But then there's the angst.

(Note: I'm going off the timeline theory where, to my understanding, there was a previous timeline and some characters remember what happened in it)

(Another note: I'm headcanoning that Seed feeds off of negative emotion)

Nicolette is in a dangerous situation. To keep her friends from becoming anxious and too worried, she locks away their memories of her and has her mice familiars? subordinates? collect any proof that she was in their lives.

Alternatively: early in the new timeline, she remembers a terrible event that happened in the previous timeline where her friends died because of her. To prevent the event from happening, she locks away their memories of her and etc.

Here's the thing, regardless of which scenario we go with: Coffee and Prunellie will try and remember who she is. By the time Nicolette locks the memories, the three have been friends for years and are really close, so it's going to be near impossible for her impact on their lives to be forgotten or unquestioned. Plus, there may be proof lying around that the mice familiars forgot to grab or weren't aware was there.

(Crack scene: the two get closer to remembering Nicolette. She yells from the safety of her room, "You dumbasses, stop trying to remember meeeeeee!" D:< )

Anyway, while Coffee and Prunellie go about their lives, she tries to keep them safe from the shadows.

In summary, the stories will be about the three's daily lives in the Red, Blue, and Noir Kingdoms, but Coffee and Prunellie will also be trying to figure out who the other person in their lives was while Nicolette keeps them safe from a distance and tries to keep them from remembering her.

Job: mail woman

Uses a hoverboard for delivering letters and trucks if there are big packages assigned to her

Mode of sending messages to her friends: sending leaves to the wind with short messages written on them

Work motto: undecided

Nicolette (she/her)

Job: I don't know what job she should have ;w;

Uses a hoverboard for getting around

Learned how to swim from a duck (it's Popple)

Mode of sending messages to her friends: undecided

Work motto: Work smarter, not harder

Not gonna lie, I'm always very confused when accounts follow me who obviously are into the same characters as I am, they are actively reblogging/liking/commenting on all the reader insert fics for the same characters I write for (especially anything Maurice related), they reblog all the gifs etc. but they won't touch anything I write.

Now, I completely understand if canon character ships are not your thing, but it's also kinda disheartening and baffling why anyone would seek out a blog if they didn't enjoy anything that blog had to offer?

I haven't written a reader insert fic since December 2021 and I'm still undecided about whether it's something I want to go back to, as I just don't find them anywhere near as satisfying to write as canon character ships. I may do at some point, as I've got some unfinished WIPs lying around, but my main focus is to finish OHDH and then probably take a break, at least from sharing.

So, if it's my old reader insert fics you're here for, fair enough I suppose, but if you're looking for new ones and aren't interested in the canon character ships I write for, then you might be disappointed around these parts lol.

Haha thank you thank you!! Naturally my non-fanart stuff usually does a bit poorer in numbers, so it always means a ton to me when people take interest in my OC work.

On that note, I've been getting some asks, so I'll answer them here to avoid clutter with making a bunch of posts.

Yes, granted even then, like-- Sonic is The Main Character Who Never Cheated, to my knowledge. Jet would perform worse out of fear of a complete newbie at his own sport even matching him if he weren't so arrogant, which is impressive in his own way.

I figure that may be the case, but it may be protected and highly-maintained to begin with exactly for that reason, with a degree of self-preservation instinct like not letting your nose and mouth be underwater for too long. They just know crucial components can't be neglected, and "groom" themselves accordingly.

Chatty, fauxrries, and the Merch Mimics actually exist in the same universe! All OC content usually exists in the same world. Mimics are few enough in number that they're rarely relevant in other characters' stories. Chatty is the first man-made sentient AI that was created through entirely non-anomalous means. Afterward, more and more sentient AI began to pop up, first made accidentally and later, intentionally. A robot like Kaita or a ruppet like Maude wouldn't exist anywhere from 30 years to a century later, depending on how I want to go about it.

I should mention that while Chatty goes by any pronouns, you're free to refer to her as she! Or he. Or they. I just use they to imply it's nothing strict.
