This is about my life with ADHD and being a teacher, it maybe boring but I'm very happy!

So, all my life I have struggled with socialising because of my ADHD, and also, I'm not very physical hyperactive, but mentally I always playing around with scenarios, stories, and my imagination as a whole. As a kid sometimes I would just set my toys in place, close my eyes and imagine them playing around like a movie. Anyway, this year i became a teacher and one of my classes is in Multiculturalism, and I had an idea:

I got 2 little toys and divided my classroom in 2 teams, each one got one toy and one civilization to manage. They gave names, ways of life, feeding habits, habitats, morals, technologies and if they want to evolve something they just need to show me a little research about it. In this way they are learning about cultures and how they form, vary, evolve and all of that. So, this strange way of playing that always made me the strange kid on recess is now a way to teach and my kids love it, they are always asking for technologies, for ways they can improve, for some spare time to plan and all.

And i... I feel like im healing my inner child by this kids (that actually are all 16 to 18yo)

it really pisses me off when people say “aang is a human trying to be the avatar and korra is the avatar trying to be human” because it ignores the fact that the “avatar” as a mantle is not something anyone naturally embodies. it’s a responsibility you’re randomly picked for, and every single avatar’s character arc is about learning how to “be the avatar.” that statement makes it seem like korra is just this unfeeling, piece of brawn that only knows how to punch things (which are things ppl already say about korra anyway) and that depiction of her versus aang feels….super off.

it just really dehumanizes korra, and ignores the fact that korra’s confidence and strong sense of self in season 1 especially is because she was surrounded by community and her parents were deeply involved in her life. korra grew up experiencing the best parts of humanity and one of her major character strengths is how much of a light she is. thats why the trauma she goes through in later seasons strikes her so intensely, because prior to that she was very sheltered and wasn’t expecting the extreme sacrifice and trauma that comes with having to bear the title of “Avatar.”

I want to see more portrayals of raw nonhumanity.

I want us to talk about ALL aspects of nonhumanity. we can talk about wanting to play fight, to chase prey, to long for missing extremities, but we should also be talking about wanting to roll in filth, wanting to mark your territory, urges to eat your young, and everything else that's "gross" even if it’s uncomfortable. Nonhumanity is weird and gross, it makes you want to do things that humans don't do. We don't exist to be palatable images of "human who identifies as an animal (but only in the cute ways).”

There is a unintentionally upheld standard that you have to make an image out of your identity, it HAS to be pretty and digestible for other people, your nonhumanity MUST to be organized and palatable. it can be "edgy" but it can't be too weird otherwise you're too weird. Why bind your existence to an idea of normalcy? Why stifle yourself in order to conform to the standards of a world that will never accept you? Why strive to be accepted by those that will never truly listen to you?

You are more than aesthetic photos and gear and silly posts!!! You are full of depth, you are a grotesque experience and you are made of blood and bones and guts and thoughts and instincts, and all of that should be treated with as much weight as it can be! You are allowed to be “Off.”

Interrogate your own discomfort around your identity, let yourself be okay with the things that are uncomfortable!!! You should relish in your own nonhumanity, you should wholeheartedly project the nasty and weird and angry parts of existence as an animal, they are just as real and as tangible and beautiful as your collars or your masks or your tails or anything else you hold dear. yeesh!

See Frieren x Himmel is canonically doomed and that's part of the overall narrative, Frieren will outlive almost everyone she ever meets but she slowly starts to build more and more relationships in spite of that and Himmel was one of the biggest catalysts in her changing in this way

But they also have this "this is how it can still win" vibe to it because Frieren is literally traveling to the afterlife specifically to visit Himmel, and along the way she's changing and very slowly embracing love in all these different forms from the people around her, one of which was from Himmel

So it's doomed but it still feels like they'll definitely have a happy ending too, it's an interesting dynamic
