Soooo after flipping through my sketchbook and realizing just how many goofy OC doodles I've been sitting on, I decided to start a side blog specifically for posts relating to my original characters. This will still be my main blog, but I think I'll feel better about dumping original stuff there - that way I won't be clogging up the feeds of people who are following this blog primarily for Mega Man stuff.

The wedding was small. That was for Samuel's comfort, because had he had things his way, he and Silas would have gone to the court house, gotten their marriage certificate, and called their friends without ever holding any sort of event for people to attend. Silas said that at the very least, they had to have cake for their friends and family to celebrate the long-awaited milestone, and he'd conceded. Instead of a proper reception, they'd set up folding chairs around the kitchen and living room, called their closest friends and family members and picked up a cake. Sam sulked around the night of the calls, even with Silas there, because they'd invited four people jointly and seven other people individually, and he could only expect it to go poorly. It took another week for the celebration to roll around.

It wasn't formal. Everyone was asked to just be decent, dress casually but not sloppily. Their friends all came in similar button-ups; Simon in orange, Cassiel in blue, Aaryn in yellow, and Lloyd in pink, all smiles, all nice. Of Silas's seven guests, six showed. His parents, his sister, his aunt and uncle, and their daughter, all dressed formally. It was his brother that didn't show and he'd informed Silas at time that he couldn't make it. Everyone, again, was happy.

Sam had called seven people. His mother and father, his older brother, his father's sister, her son and daughter, and his childhood best friend. Of them, his brother, Alec, and his cousin, Reagan, had answered. Alec refused to come on religious accounts and vehemently expressed his disapproval. Reagan hung up when he mentioned his fiance to her.

Their friends sat on the side of the chairs dedicated to his family, to make it easier. It wasn't a joyous occasion, as happy as everyone around him looked about it. Silas's family was kind, as much as they'd always been. They congratulated him and his husband, they'd called him son and brother and nephew, and it made him feel a little less alone. Even so, he felt detached from it all.

And when he was left alone with Silas and Simon and Cass, he didn't force the smile.

He didn't need to. Silas rubbed his shoulder and laughed at the jokes that made him roll his eyes and he wondered for a moment, why had it mattered? Simon leaned forward in his seat the way he did when anything that resulted in a stain on his carpet was about to happen. He'd known that they wouldn't come and wouldn't call, he knew his family didn't intend to be there at his wedding, so he was lost on why this all felt so dreadfully important to him.

Then and there, he decided, it didn't. It wouldn't ever matter again. Simon was choking on his drink at something Cass said, Silas was chuckling, and he had a can of Coke meant to be shared with a family. So, he offered it around only for Cass to ask what this was about.

"It ain't like you to be so sweet as to share, Sammie," he'd said.

"Yeah, well, it's not like you to refuse a free drink. Hurry up, prick, pass it around."

"He's right, Sam," Simon had said when he took the can. "You've been kind of off. Are you alright?"

"I'm fine. I just don't like weddings," he muttered when Silas took the can.

"Hey babe, you don't need to worry about it. It went great . You did great"

"I guess it's not about that." Sam paused. His friends were all looking at him, waiting to find out what, exactly, about his perfect wedding had been wrong. Despite his attempt to break back into the conversation and out of his own head, suddenly, they all felt very far away again. He focused Silas's hand on his shoulder even from behind the proverbial glass and took a deep breath.

2023 EXO WRAPPED

newton's 4th law states that for every "it's so over" there's an equally opposite "we are so back" so taking that into account i present to you the 2023 EXO WRAPPED so we can take a look at how truly insane EXO's career was this year

so we started out the year on a positive note. baekhyun was about to come back from the military - every other member was available, and the rumors of an EXO comeback were growing stronger. things were looking UP!

sadly - our first "it's so over" comes into play a mere month into the year, when news broke that lee sooman was being ousted from SM after a hostile board takeover resulted in him reaching out to hybe to get enough juice to fend off the witch hunt

no one knew what the fuck was going on - every idol in that company was sending out coded messages begging for help and all the scheduled comebacks got delayed, half assed or canceled. thankfully the succession plot got discarded quickly and hybe dropped out from the race, resulting in kakao investing in SM as major shareholder and lee sooman officially leaving the company.

after a few months of uncertainty EXO were finally reunited for their anniversary fanmeeting - we are so back!!! this was the first time the 8 members were together on stage since 2018 so of course everybody was losing their shit. and then we got confirmation that the comeback was finally happening.

this was it. it was happening. the FIRST full group comeback IN FIVE YEARS... we had confirmation, so they couldn't take it back - right? RIGHT??? except.... the weeks kept passing and as time went on we knew nothing else about the comeback. the members were radio silent and SM was still getting their shit together from the hostile takeover. both EXO and shinee's comebacks got delayed (among others) and no one knew what was supposed to happen. every day we got another news article about the EXO comeback but the EXO in question was nowhere to be seen - the full spectrum of the exol experience:

what happened next constitutes what experts have called the biggest "it's so fucking over" in recorded history so you better buckle up....

the comeback was first confirmed on social media by numerous music producers who were often seen working with EXO. SM was still radio silent but we KNEW the album was being made at the very least. expectations were building up and the members were seen practicing together in the SM building.... and then.

kai got notified that he had to enlist WITH ONE WEEK'S NOTICE.... the comeback wasn't even done shooting. kai was dying his hair a different color everyday to cram an album's worth of content in a couple of days. in hindsight this was truly our biggest L of the year

and then SM lied about how the military had suddenly changed the rules of enlistment so they didn't know kai had to go. AN ACTUAL MILITARY OFFICIAL had to go on the record to disprove this and it turns out SM had lied because they fucked up kai's paperwork and he couldn't defer any more. just your average SM fuck up

anyway. we'd facen worse right? an exo member enlisting has never been a problem to release a comeback - so after sending kai off to his bootcamp the rest of exo went right back to business. that album wasn't gonna record itself.....

and then on june 1st the second airplane hit the exo towers.

the amount of articles and updates we got every hour from different parties was insane. no one knew what the fuck was happening and SM was busy fighting this PR nightmare with a smear campaign against CBX and by association the rest of EXO

exoplanet was on fire but we had a silver lining: SM stock was plummeting to an all time low. it looked like EXO freedom was on the horizon, but in a classic EXO move the members had ghosted us. no one had heard from them except for legal statements from their lawyers - but hey at least SM was a dumpsterfire!

mind you the comeback hadn't even been announced.... at this point we assumed that was the least of their worries and then word got out that the members had been trying to film the MV in the middle of the lawsuit and SM hadn't allowed CBX entry to the set... which was later disproved but no one even questioned that cause it's literally something SM would do

and then in what constitutes the single most bizarre album rollout in kpop the comeback was officially announced - with two prerelease songs and three MVs! and three members in a legal battle! sounds very 2014 right? well exols didn't give a shit, and then we got our next we are sooo back. the hype was THERE

after a lot of 📈📉📈📉 the lawsuit against SM was settled and CBX decided to remain in the company for the sake of the group, and the songs they prereleased were actually good so it was safe to say exoplanet was on their WE ARE SOOOO BACK era.... but SM wouldn't let us have it so easy so of course this happened immediately after

they started cancelling albums and understocking distributors but nevertheless... WE PERSISTED. the album was finally released and once again EXO, true to their title of the cockroaches of kpop, managed to break several records despite SM sabotaging them left and right. they had ONE music show win and THREE streams but it didn't matter. EXO was back.

after their comeback promotions lasted a whopping SEVEN days and then dipped from the face of the earth exoplanet was finally looking back to normal

baekhyun drunk texted fans on bubble and held live spaces on twitter where he fell asleep and snored in front of 30 thousand people. kyungsoo dropped a mini album that had been recorded and ready to go for over a year and then rumors of someone leaving SM started circulating on korean foums again. exols were busy counting down the days to sehun finally hauling his ass to the military and every time EXO SC had a fanmeeting we were sure he was going to leave. and THEN....

surprising absolutely no one, kyungsoo didn't renew his contract with SM and left amicably in mid october. suho sent this bubble the same day the news came out btw

we were back in our it's so over era which at this point for EXO and exols it's closer to our we are so back era.... it's kinda hard to keep up but at least nothing else was gonna happen. it was already november, the end of the year was coming and no one expected anything else in exoplanet for at least 6 to 8 months. this is already longer than exo's career so i'll just wrap it up in a second part!!

For all people getting hyped about AiB season 3, all I gotta say is that you shouldn't get your hopes up too much about it. Season 2 ended up just like the manga did, so a whole ass new season would mean completely new original non-cannon content created by Netflix and this usually ends up badly. Just because it's made in Japan =/= it'll be good. Take for example The Promised Neverland's anime season 2, that was 100% 'anime original' content created by the directors and studio who were in charge of producing the show, and it ended up horribly! There are already lots of essay commentaries on Youtube explaining why, so I won't go into detail about it, but all you should know is that it was bad, VERY bad. So Japan isn't the best either when it comes to creating original content based off of a manga.

It's one thing creating something from scratch, which is totally fine and spin-offs are great in their own way, but a whole other can of worms when you decide to add your own 'original take' on a pre-established cannon's story that doesn't need it, because in 90% of cases it doesn't end well. This Season 3 would be nothing more than a 'gratified' fanfiction, and we all know how it goes with fanfictions: it can either be good or an utter disastrous dumpsterfire from hell. Also, we should also keep in mind this is Netflix we're talking about, and they screw it big time when it comes to coming up with their original take on pre-existing content (a good example should be their version of Death Note that was soo bad, we've all collectively agreed that we will never talk about it!).

So yeah, don't get your hopes too high with this one because you might just end up being extremely disappointed by it. Be curious, that's good, but don't overhype yourself over something that has no guarantee that'll be good, because if it fails, you'll just end up hurting yourself. I'm just adding this because I've seen some people who are already jumping with joy over the moon about the news.

Can we talk about the blatant misogyny behind the "Karen"- trend again?

Women are attacking each other with a random female name, designed to indicate there's literal modern female hysteria being portraited by a another woman, sometimes older one who's being "overly dramatic & assertive" about things that supposedly shouldn't matter. What's a more genius way to silence women further than a comedic spectacle shaming them collectively with a term synonymous to 'overreacting crazy woman'?

Males are exhilarated over this, they create masses of accounts dedicated to "Karen fails" where they film women of all ages and backgrounds standing up for themselves often if not always nonconsensually. This is all to feed their hatred of women. They specifically seek it to feed those emotions through those pages.

Everyone using this term for whatever context now, is perpetuating and normalizing this phenomenon as acceptable, normal content to consume AND CREATE. By accepting this usage we're differentiating ourselves from other girls and women saying we're not like the crazy women, we're sane like men.

Girls, think again the next time you're beefing with each other, because this dumpsterfire of a phenomenon is a slur that has MAJOR cultural implications for all of our rights and the ability to be heard. We've all already witnessed the power memes and internet slander has, overpowering even the actual laws. Let's not make this the next 'bitch' & have our granddaughters have to reclaim the language.

Someone Else's Coffee Mugs

When Simon walked out the duplex and sat down on the chair nearest to him, he didn't expect Lloyd to be outside.

Unlike indoors, where the pair of them were separated by things like walls and a single door that locked from either side with a latch on both, the front porch had no indicator as to which side belonged to either party. That's why Lloyd's lush plant collection spilled onto the space Simon paid for or his other chair wandered to the far side of the porch for Lloyd to read in. Similarly, it's why his bicycle had space on the front porch at all. It's why there was room for Cass to keep his adventuring boots laid on their sides on the front porch.

It's emotional, in a way. Lloyd was a pretty private guy. As often as the guy would sit outside and make small talk while he brushed his hair and while Simon drank tea in the morning hours, he didn't share much of his personal life. He seemed almost disinterested in friendship. It set was the only boundary that set one half of the front porch apart from the other.

hi! I wanted to thank you for your Anders appreciation posts.

I recently played through all dragon age games again. I am a mostly on reddit, so decided to look what people think of my favorite character and romance in the series. And holy shit. I've never seen videogame character hated like that before. I was shocked at how many people think of Anders as a villain, killing him and thinking it's doing him a favor. The popularity of rivalmance and idea that's its actually GOOD for Anders to be loathed and told that he is an abomination by the person he loves because he is no longer Justice but Vengeance and needs to be "put down". It seems to be such a common point of view. Maker. Whats wrong with people on reddit.

I am not an active tumblr user, but seeing all of anders-positive content on tumblr makes me so happy. I'm glad there are plenty of people who support his ideas and see him as well written character and a good person. Thanks again

Never underestimate how bitter, hateful, self-entitled, toxic, susceptible to propaganda (both irl and ingame via the narrative framing), and terrible at reading comprehension people can be. And the majority of Anders hating is a banger example of this. That said, DA reddit seems to be a particularly yikes place with takes only second in yikness to tiktok.

Tho I also made the mistake of looking forums and reddit when I was first playing DA2 🥴 Hating Anders seems to be trendy and some people even take it to the next step, where they think they're showing some morally correct sides of themselves by hating him which tells you a lot about them.

Anyway, I only look up stuff on tumblr now, and after blocking ten bazzilion haters, it's way better lmao But overall - I've never been in a fandom where people were so damn vile about a character.

Ooooh lets see what I remember-

Charlie reigned supreme- like really and truly so many blogs and so, so much content was Charlie Charlie Charlie, everyday, all the time and I mean he still is insanely popular but definitely back in the day Charlie in the show and of the cast was easily the most popular, like it felt like 7/10 posts were about him. Glenn was next in line but I do distinctly remember Kaitlin and Rob didn't have as much content about them, at a certain point I kinda was the Kaitlin Olson tag, that's not me being up myself I just used to be in her tag constantly and it'd be a lot of posts in a row of just me- the girls of the series def didnt always get the love they should and I'm not really sure that's changed much ☠ But yeah this was also around the time that everyone was also going gaga about Pacific Rim so that def made Charlie even more popular too.

Macdennis has always, always been a popular pairing but their popularity 100% has skyrocketed the past few years, and I mean SKYROCKETED. Like they're on par with some wildly popular mlm ships nowadays and it's lowkey so funny to see em in the ring with like. destiel 😂 now when I go in the tag it seems half the posts feature mac and dennis, which is notable to me bc Mac especially was kinda... Unloved is not the right way to phrase it bc fans have always loved him but Rob/Mac def didn't get /as/ much love back in the day. Like people often spoke of him as the weakest character but after season 13 I think he's gained more appreciation.

Fans have def gotten much bigger on theories and stuff these days, I'm sure they had em back then too but it wasn't as prevalent and none particularly stand out, it was usually just the "X characters are secretly sleeping together" type beat. I also remember a popular theory that everyone was going to die in the inevitable series finale but then the show never got cancelled and I dont know what that was about?

Reddit has always been messy and there def was a pretty big us vs them type vibe between sunny fans back then- though it was less reddit vs tumblr and more "straight dude bros" vs everyone else like I remember so many posts being like "Ugh straight dude bros don't get the show" I probably made some of those posts 😂 Lots of "Mac isn't actually gay" too which is very, very funny in hindsight- No one ever thought they'd canonize his sexuality.

Ummm... Probably the most notable thing to me tho is seeing how popular the cast has become, like 8 years ago Danny was the only "Big name" Like the media absolutely spoke of the show as these no name people and Danny Devito. I mean that was not totally the case for Charlie, he was becoming more and more popular and gaining traction in the mainstream with pacific rim and the likes but with Glenn, Kaitlin and Rob they were definitely not super well known outside Big always sunny fans so seeing them go from that to Rob being besties with Ryan Reynolds and stuff has honestly been super interesting and funny. Like I remember posting rob and kaitlins wedding pictures and getting so many people going WAIT THEYRE MARRIED?? it was hilarious to see the transition.

Yeah those are probably the biggest changes I can think of- it's gotten more popular which explains most of it, shipping has def become a much bigger thing as well, ships were pretty chill back then, there wasn't too much fic or art so thats different now :)

OH BUT ART! There's always been wonderful fan artists but nowadays wowee!! some amazing art for the series, like much more abundant! That's the gist of it :)

Netflix Rant Because Inside Job is Cancelled

Hey Netflix, here's a message:

Just like you did to us.

Inside Job had a loyal fanbase, it was growing and it was good. Everything was going great. What the fuck is going on with the dumpsterfire of a compeny which is Netflix? Why do they keep doing this? I heard someone say that it's about the money they have to pay in order to release a show but that sure as hell didn't stop them from giving us a seventh season of Riverdale?? But wait! We all know animation is largely disrespected in the industry, so my highly likely guess is that Netflix just couldn't care less about the people behind the show nor their customers. And it will bite them in the ass. They broke the trust of their show creators and customers. Why going out of your way to cancel a popular show in it's production? At this point you could say that even Disney is safer that this trainwreck (would be a stretch, lol). They're destroying themselves. They're gonna lose the trust of everyone and with that, lose a shit ton of money. People don't forget this type of things. The fanbase of The Owl House is still pissed that we didn't get a full season 3, I'm still mad about it! And when you cancel a show and right after that #SaveInsideJob is trending you know you fucked up, and people are gonna remember this. Even if they won't, they'll just keep cancelling quality content until they have burned themselves and there's nothing left. The binge model is also a part of the string of bad choices because it kills hype. Despite that, Inside Job managed to be popular with a loyal fanbase. But because they're allergic to happiness cancelled it. Netflix sucks and we're the victims of this. We're the ones being punished for daring to like their shows. They have the udacity to have 3 (will be 4, and Idk what's next) seasons of Emily in Paris, an offensive commercial machine, while cancelling Inside Job mid production. What is wrong with them?? I'm sick and tired of Netflix thinking that if it's not as popular as Stranger Things on it's first season than it shouldn't exist.
