he didn't ask to be the herald of andraste ):
[id: a portrait of a human dragon age inquisitor. he is pale, with heavy scarring over his face, rogue leather armor, and earrings. he has twin daggers on his back. he is looking up to the sky from a bottom-up angle, tears rolling down his face. behind him is a fade rift, opened and haloed around his head. /end id]

the well of all souls
a little piece on my inquisitors during here lies the abyss. some of them do better than others.
Mahanon Lavellan | Immaturity.
Mahanon is obviously unnerved by his physical presence in the fade. He proceeds with caution and keeps close distance to his companions. This, the Nightmare thinks, should be easy.
It speaks with the voice of Corypheus. It says, “Inquisitor Mahanon, you’re quite the sight,” and it feels him tense under the words, “A little boy all dressed up in such a big title, such heavy armor, given so much responsibility—and yet he is still such a child.”
Mahanon is predictable. He tenses under the words and clenches his fists. He tries to let it roll off his back, tries to push himself forward, but he is affected.
The Nightmare says, “You say you can handle this. Ma harel, da’len.”
“Stop,” mutters Mahanon, with all the hurt of some impetuous child that is caught up in something far too complicated for him. A child with pointed ears among humans, and a child with Dalish ideals among reverent Andrastians.
His lover—a reverent Andrastian—puts a hand on one of his shoulders and says, “You should pay it no mind, Mahanon,” in her gentlest tone. “It only wants a reaction from you.”
Mahanon relaxes with her touch, and he gives her a pitiable look before taking a deep breath and steeling himself. “We should move on,” he says to her in his quietest voice. The Nightmare will have to tear her down later.
Daffodil Trevelyan | Circumstance.
Trevelyan keeps her gaze fixed on the space in front of her, and a tight grip on her axe. She and her companions—nothing, helplessness, and irrelevance respectively—walk in stiff silence.
The Nightmare has to push back a few things to find the bigger picture, and it seems that picture in and of itself is terrifying to the Inquisitor. The Nightmare mimics her older brother, deep and condescending, low and threatening. It echoes her own thoughts at her.
It says, “Did your parents send him away because of you?”
She marches on silently.
“Your brother, your hero; did he give up his life to protect others from the abomination you could be?”
Her hold on the axe tightens. She shuts her eyes and opens them again. This is almost fun, watching her try and shove it down with the rest of her memories. “Will the Inquisition be ashamed?” It asks.
She’s getting annoyed. Her companions glance over at her with sympathy. Sera is already overwhelmed by the fade, by everything around, but she says with concern. “Honeytongue?”
The Nightmare finishes with, “Will you have to carry a staff?”
Drake Trevelyan | Circumstance.
“Blessed are the peacekeepers, champions of the just. Blessed are the righteous, the lights in the shadow. In their blood the Maker’s will is written,” says the Nightmare, “Someone’s craving his fix.”
The Trevelyan boy is already dangling from the edge. His movements are stiff, his speech uncomfortable. His lyrium veins feel uncomfortably present under his skin. Andrastian platitudes are repeated over and over in his thoughts. When the Nightmare taunts him he simply tries to think louder.
“Do you really think that your parents would forgive you? You are the reason they lost Daffodil, and to mend their pain sent you to become all that took her away,” says the Nightmare. He keeps thinking over its words. His perceived resilience, though entertaining, is getting a little annoying. It says, “You are the unwanted child, Drake. The envious older brother. You ruin all that you touch, and take for yourself all that you cannot destroy, but now that you do it in the name of Andraste—”
Trevelyan thinks, blessed are those who stand before the corrupt and wicked and do not falter.
“You will die having destroyed yourself, and the lyrium will have only killed your memory.”
Alethea Lavellan | Tranquility.
“Imagine yourself going through a Harrowing,” says the Nightmare. It speaks with the voice of Helisma. Still and emotionless. Completely tranquil. “Could you even do it? Magic is something you never even think of.”
Alethea tries to laugh it off. Tries to make a joke about herself in Circle robes—oh how unnatural it would be. Despite this, her tone is clipped, her wit less genuine. The Nightmare pushes her a bit more. It says, “Imagine failing, how they punish mages who fail.”
“All the misery, all the happiness, all the love—your sister. You would feel nothing toward them.”
Alethea snaps, “Shut up!” and stops before taking a sharp breath and apologizing to her companions for the outburst under her breath. Sera walks beside her and briefly squeezes her hand.
Alphys Lavellan | Complete Freedom.
“It's always something,” says the Nightmare, “Your clan, your magic, your sister, and now your Inquisition. Something is always tugging at your leash, Alphys.”
Alphys is calm on the outside. She is calm on the inside, too. More calm than any of her companions, at the very least. She has studied the fade quite a bit, with the rift mage training. And besides, there is nothing this demon can say to her that she has not considered herself. At least, she thinks there is nothing.
“Are you even a person, Lavellan?” it begs the question, “Or are you simply the result of the will of others? What they tell you to do, what they ask you to forgive—that is all you are. You are a tool to be used by others,” it says, “but maybe that is better than being whatever you are.”
Oh.
“You can’t even conceive who you would be without someone guiding you, can you?” it says, “Maybe it would be just as the humans say, and you would be consumed by your magic. A possessed mage with no control over her actions.”
Oh.
“Or maybe you would simply break under this pressure if the Inquisition were not leading you around by the neck. Or maybe the power would corrupt you, and you would drive yourself and your people into the ground.”
Alphys knows it isn’t true—knows that demons lie and that she has come to her own in some ways, but part of her worries that it is right. That she is malleable as a side effect of being agreeable. That being merciful is something she didn’t decide for herself, but something that was thrust upon her. Part of her also worries, in some small way, that she could never handle the freedom of being her own person. That she must always hold something or someone close to her in order to make decisions, lest she make the wrong one.
(That is what she is doing with her sister and Cullen and the Inquisition.)
It says, “I suppose we’ll never know, Herald.”
Herc Cadash | His Past.
“Yanna will become a smuggler, like her father,” says the Nightmare, “she’ll do it to support her mother, who you left behind.”
Cadash tries to pay the Nightmare no mind, but he glances at his Tevinter lover.
“Your father is still senile, your mother still remains disappointed in you. Her oldest son, leaving his dying father behind to chase after a criminal legacy,” says the Nightmare, “A man like you can’t change, Hercule. You are consigned to your selfish decisions. You damn the people who have forgiven you.”
For a moment, it seems like he’s been convinced, but he is swiftly comforted.
“You’re a different man, now,” says Dorian, “You try harder than most.”
Willa Trevelyan | The Circle.
“I will twist the demon inside of you when we are done here, and I will make it destroy you, as it ought to,” says the Nightmare, “Or maybe, after this is done, the Circle will capture and slay you for the abomination you are.”
Its words have no weight. Willa fears the Circle, yes. She fears what will happen if she is ever forced to go back, but she is more than confident in the magic she has cultivated. And if all else fails, Pride lies dormant within her, protecting her. Nothing can hurt her. Nothing can kill her. She is, for all her efforts, completely fucking untouchable, and this demon can only make lowly attempts at bending her will.
She fears no demon, no man, no nothing—and the Circle did that to her. The Circle made her into what she is.
She is grateful for what it shaped her into.
Laisa Lavellan | The Truth.
“Are you angry, Inquisitor?” the Nightmare speaks with the voice of Corypheus, but also with the voice of something unidentifiable. Something frightening. It says, “Can you even be angry?”
Laisa can be angry. She can be angry and sad and scared and all of those other things!—but mostly she is happy. She has to be. She is sunlit and bright and shining, and she cannot be hurt by this Nightmare.
“You are not fit to do this, Inquisitor. Solas will not last, and your facade will fall apart.”
Never.

“The day Drake heard Theo’d been made Tranquil was the day he gave up on the Templars.”
Theodosia ‘Theo’ and Drakon ‘Drake’ Trevelyan. They are twins like Bethany and Carver, only a - perhaps slightly more tragic variation. I feel like I did pretty decent on making them actually look related. (Canon, if anyone’s interested, is Inquisitor Theo, with Drake essentially acting as a companion)
(Mods shown: Immersive Starting Armors - Templar Var., Enhanced Inquisitor Sliders, Shadowed Eyes for Frosty on both; Brins Bun and Tranquil Brand (Complexion Compatible) on Theo and Warrior Mohawk - Noble Warrior King Var. on Drake)

What's your Pride Month head canons for your oc's and favorite characters?
Okay... so. First Pride Month headcanon: none of my ocs are straight. This is the biggest collection of gays, bis, pans, and gray-aces out there. Some of them are in hetero relationships, but they are still bi/pan.
Standing out we have Mysen of Denerim, who is gay and on the asexual spectrum - I'd call him homoromantic graysexual, and in a loving polycule with Alistair Theirin and Benny Cousland. (please ask me questions about them cause I wanna fill out their relationship btw)
We have Mila Cooper, who is also on the asexual spectrum - I'd call her demiromantic asexual. She is not sex-repulsed and frequently has sexual relations with her husband Fenris, but it is not something she requires or feels a need for, simply an activity she enjoys sharing with Fenris.
We've got bi disaster Morgan Walker, and gay disaster Cal Hawke.
Other bi/pan OCs include: Ava Hawke, Vylandin, Lissa Surana (demisexual), Agatha Iyris, Cassander Shepard, Cordelia Shepard, and Liam Trevelyan
Other gay OCs include: Henry Lucas, Benny Cousland, Ellis Walker (identified as straight/questioning for a long time and had a son before coming out as gay), Luka the Gold Dragon, Carlisle Shepard, Destin and Madoc Ryder, James Trevelyan, Jesse Malkin, Mason Wiseman, Solomon Kingston, and Winston Wyne.
Dick Grayson is demisexual. Bruce Wayne is gay. Jason Todd is also gay. Clark Kent is pansexual. Diana Prince is pansexual. Dinah Lance is bi and has crushes on Harley and Ivy. Honestly, pretty much everyone in the DC universe is LGBTQ+
Percy Jackson is bi, Jason Grace is gay and ace (lol pun not intended). Annabeth is a straight ally. Luke Castellan is gay
Bucky Barnes is gay, Steve is bisexual, Tony Stark is pansexual. Thor is demisexual. Loki is genderfluid, Scott Lang is bisexual. Natasha Romanoff is asexual. Peter Parker is gay. Pietro Maximoff is also gay
Sokka and Suki are bisexuals. Aang is pansexual. Bolin is gay. Kuvira is absolutely sapphic
Geralt is very much bisexual, and Jaskier is pansexual.
Nathan Drake is a bi disaster.
Obi-Wan is gay. So is Darth Maul. Anakin is straight but has bi wife energy. Because Padme is bi. Luke Skywalker is gay.
Luna Lovegood is ace and pan. All of the Weasleys are bisexual except Charlie, who is aro/ace.
Remember the Hardy Boys? Yes, both gay. Nancy Drew is bi. Also the Beast from Beauty and the Beast is bi. Belle is a straight ally.
Hmm... is that everyone???

Monday Funday
The idea is -  “post a snippet of whatever was the most fun thing you worked on lately.”
Thanks for tagging me in this, @blarrghe! The humour well in my fic has been a little dry since I’m supposed to write a serious mission, but I’ll share a bit of very unsubtle and cheap symbolism a lighthearted moment.
As time flew by, the atmosphere shifted. They all talked, they drank, and Jonathan and Demuth tested the patience of the entire table trying to learn to play Wicked Grace. After all, there wouldn’t be many occasions where they get to do it without their dignity on the line.
“What was this combination again?,” Demuth asked while tilting her hand towards the moustached Ostwicker.
“You’re not s’posed to show me the card, m’lady, we’re playing to win,” the man said with a sigh, but then whispered the answer to her anyway.
The Orlesian man, who had already taken it upon himself to explain the rules twice, lifted a finger and began reciting once again, like a diligent acolyte, “The Angel Sings of the Knight’s triumph over the Serpent. A Knight is a Sword, a Serpent is a Drake, an Angel is a Spectre, and a Song’s a Song. ‘Owever, the most important rule to remember, always watch the ‘ands, plural. Les mains, pas le main.”
“Yes, yes, can we le play already?”, Helmut grumbled.
The Orlesian shot him a dirty look, “It’s your turn, friend.”
“Oh, fuck.”
It’s nowhere near a Monday, but I’ll tag people just in case they wish to share! I’d love to read more fun bits!
@noire-pandora  @musetta3   @morganlefaye79  @hollyand-writes   @another-rogue-trevelyan  @johaeryslavellan  @dismalzelenka
Feel free to ignore this, and please let me know if you don’t want to be tagged anymore!

I had the opportunity to get a commission of my Trevelyan and her favorite trusty steed, the Free Marches Ranger. @jawlipops did such an amazing job! Go check out her other lovely work.
My Trev has a thing for both horses and history, and she likes to name all of her equine friends after important figures in Thedosian history. This one she named Amadis, after Amadis Vael of Starkhaven, captain of the Ruby Drakes mercenary company, who aided in the fight against the dark spawn during the fourth blight.

Face Claim: again i cba to search now

for the dragon age asks, 4, 5, 6, 39, and 99?
I am sorry, this got way out of hand again lmao
gonna put most of these under the cut because it is,, long,,,,
4. What was your first Warden (gender/class/race/personality)?
Neira Surana (female elven mage)! My og girl <3 I love her a lot even if I don't give her enough attention on this blog ^^"
She's primarily a Spirit Healer but also an Arcane Warrior (she only really uses those abilities to increase her stamina/be able to wear heavy armour though). She's more a quiet introverted type but also the kind of person who manages to get along with everyone somehow, very down-to-earth and mature but not nearly as confident in herself as one might expect. Great at taking care of other people, horrible at taking care of herself, very acutely aware of her responsibilities and always worried about making wrong decisions and/or negatively impacting other people. She does grow into her role as Warden Commander (and Chancellor to king Alistair) though and is better at what she does than she realises.
5. What was your first Hawke like (gender/class/temperament)?
Liam Hawke (male human rogue) my beloved. Definitely the one I got the most invested in, and I was not prepared for the Painᵀᴹ he was gonna face :') He's a dual wielding rogue and technically has the assassin specialisation, but I don't think I ever actually used/unlocked any of the talents haha. He's more of a jack of all trades type of guy anyways so it does fit for him to have no proper specialisation anyways. His main temperament was purple/humorous, but his tone kinda shifted from mostly green/red (Prologue) > green/purple (Act 1) > purple (Act 2) > purple/red (Act 3) in varying degrees. He's someone who really just wants his family and friends to be happy and the gradual death of all his relatives unsurprisingly takes its toll on him. Definitely a mum friend, hella extroverted and social, awful puns and sarcasm all around, unbearably sappy with his close family and s/o, very very bad at working through trauma and grief, Very Tired And Done With Everthing by Act 3. Y'know, the usual.
6. First Inquisitor (gender/class/race/personality)?
June Trevelyan (female human mage), Rift Mage and absolute disaster (affectionate). Has issues with authority, is insufferably rebellious and stubborn, cannot handle expectations or stress At All, emotionally very reactive and has no brain to mouth filter, cannot Politics to save her life, is essentially selfish in her motivations, absolutely Did Not Sign Up For This Shit, and just generally not at all suitable for the role of Inquisitor. She is very driven though, blunt but honest, opinionated but generally open minded and inquisitive (lol), highly interested in anything and everything controversial and unconventional, especially if magic related. Very much an ambivert; needs time to herself sometimes, specially when anxious or stressed, but also loves causing mayhem with her squad, generally frisky and energetic when in a good mood, and has no sense of modesty. Honestly just wants to vibe and do crime.
39. Creepiest moment in the games?
A couple! Well tbh I'm not sure creepy is entirely the right word for all of these, but I'll list my favourites anyways
Hands down the most revolting and disturbing thing DA has done imo were the Dead Trenches. The buildup to the Broodmother, with the Darkspawn gore getting worse and worse the further you go? Hespith's chanting while you progress until finally meeting her and finding out what happened? The realisation that this exact thing could have happened to a female Warden if they hadn't escaped Ostagar? The sheer wrongness and and grossness of the entire concept? It makes my stomach churn every time and I love it so much.
The Circle Tower has a very similar vibe, still disturbing but not quite as much as the Dead Trenches, again with the gore getting worse the higher you climb, the halls littered with mage corpses and abominations (and friggin drakes smh??) and just.. how obvious it is that something is very very wrong here, with the anticipation of what the Warden has to face at the top of the tower, it's great.
Now what's genuinely creepy imo is Haven. Love the vibe of these sorts of villages littered with little unsettling details (the blood shrine (?), barely any people to be seen, that one kid with the eerie nursery rhyme...) that are so clearly off, and the whole cult thing the village has going on? Love it. Same goes for the abandoned orphanage in the Alienage, that sort of thing always creeps me out too, in the best way.
And idk Origins as quite a few creepy-ish places imo. I know I was somewhat on edge when going down the Brecilian Ruins for the first time, or through the Temple of Sacred Ashes. Even Honnleath had an eerie sort of atmosphere to it. Also the Blackmarsh and the Mother's Lair from Awakening are both very creepy and gross respectively.
In DA2 it's definitely Quentin and his.... project, it's so messed up and gross and wrong and god the horror of hearing about the lilies and following that blood trail just to find that is awful and I hate it so so much. I love it.
Inquisition's creepiest section by far is In Hushed Whispers. The whole thing with red lyrium growing everywhere, out of the walls, the people, everything, warden corpses lying around, the sky outside being Fade-like, the end sequence with your companions making a last stand to let you escape... and just all the implications of that future are so disturbing and frightening.
The Raw Fade was creepy too, although imo not so much the Fade itself but the little snippets and details littered around. Some of the statues are really creepy (like that weird goat statue in that first section? those rough head-ish looking things all over? the various probably-Tevinter contraptions? the huge statue of Andraste (?)? lots of weird stuff), but what got me more were the various codex entries. Some of the ones about slaves and experiments were very alarming, but mostly the "Fears of Dreamers" were the ones that gave me goosebumps.
99. Where would you live (Fereldan, Orlais, Free Marches etc?)
(again gonna shamelessly copypaste here)
Hmm probably the Marches or Ferelden. Rivain and Antiva sound lovely but I'm not made for more tropical climates, I think the temperate climate in southern Thedas would be more up my ally. Also just generally prefer the more rural and less hectic vibe I get from those countries.

A Convenient Princess - Chapter 2
Tumblr media
The Inquisition has been disbanded. After several years of triumph and loss, Anne Trevelyan has made her decision. If Starkhaven wants a princess, then she will be that princess. Who said anything about love?
[Read on AO3]
Chapter Two
"No, Granger, I will not have people starving purely to provide refreshments for our guests. Revise the menu for the banquet, I am sure the Inquisitor and her companions will have no objection to a simple feast."
The seneschal's jaw seemed to lock in place for a moment as he held his prince's gaze.
"Your highness, there will be many guests of noble heritage at this occasion," he said carefully. "We must show them that the royal palace of Starkhaven is well able to match any court in Thedas."
"Not at the expense of our people," the prince told him. "They know that I am marrying the Herald of Andraste, the chosen of the Maker. They should not expect largess in such a case. Andraste cares as much for the poor as for the rich; I will not insult her Herald by causing harm on a day of joy."
He rose from his seat, nodding to his seneschal.
"See it done, Granger," he ordered. "It will not be long now before you have a princess to serve."
"As your highness wishes."
The seneschal bowed, sensing his dismissal, and stepped away, leaving the prince alone in his study for the time being. From outside came the sound of the bowers being erected in the square for the wedding that would soon take place, punctuated by the chatter of the men and women working together to raise the slats and wind the flowers about them. Starkhaven was already celebrating, in its own way. All they needed now was for the bride to arrive, and the stage would be set for one of the greatest moments of the city's history.
Sebastian Vael, Prince of Starkhaven, let out a slow breath, resting his hands on the stone sill of the window.
"Maker, what am I doing?"
In a matter of days, he would be a married man, taking the next step in his affirmation as the ruler of Starkhaven, on the way to providing a new generation of his family to continue that rule after his death. But once upon a time, he had made a different vow ... a vow to take no bride but Andraste in the service of the Maker. He had turned his back on the other vows he had taken with it not once, but twice, yet this one he had always kept. Until now.
His advisors had brought up the subject of marriage several times in the past few years, but he had always stood resolute against it, planning to nominate an heir at some point in the future. And then had come their abortive attack on Kirkwall during the crisis of Corypheus. With their forces bolstered by the Inquisition, the Kirkwall guard had not only beaten them back, but Sebastian himself had been injured. A few inches to the left, and he would have been dead on the battlefield. For days, he had been feverish as the healers worked to draw him from the precipice of the Void, and upon waking, he had found himself filled with a renewed purpose.
Why had he been brought so close to death in pursuit of justice against the city that had harbored Elthina's killer? Perhaps it was because what he pursued was not justice, but revenge, something the Grand Cleric had never wanted him to take in the first place. The Herald of Andraste, the Inquisitor herself, had sent forces to protect Kirkwall; if she believed his cause to be unjust, how could he argue? She was the Chosen of the Maker's Bride. Her word must be taken as the word of Andraste herself. His duty was to his own city, to give them stability and good governance. He needed a wife, an heir. He needed some way to break off hostilities with Kirkwall that would not result in his own assassination by the nobles who were eager for war.
The solution had been suggested by Flora Harimann, of all people. Though it chafed him to admit it, her support had been invaluable since he had reclaimed his title, and her advice was, more often than not, absolutely correct for the situation presented to her. It was she who had pointed out that if he were to marry the Herald of Andraste, he could assuage his guilt for breaking the last of his Chantry vows and be provided with a cast-iron reason for ending the war with Kirkwall in one fell swoop. That Anne Trevelyan was one of the most sought-after brides in Thedas following the death of Corypheus could not be denied; that mere fact that it was rumored the new Emperor of Orlais was also seeking her hand in marriage simply made his nobles all the more eager to secure the match for Starkhaven. They had openly agreed to the one condition the Inquisition had laid out for them - the cessation of hostilities toward Kirkwall. After all, in return for that one concession, they were getting one of the most respected women in Thedas for their princess, a woman who had connections in every country they could care to name, including Tevinter.
Sebastian let out a sigh, turning away from the window. His eyes fell upon the belt buckle his parents had gifted him when he had first entered the Chantry. Their last gift to him, as it had turned out, though it could be argued that they had saved his life by sending him away. A part of him wished he could have died with them, that he could have been spared the intrigues and schemes of this life. But he had made a choice, and part of that choice had been to accept that he must marry to continue on the line. He could only be thankful that the woman who most suited his needs had been inclined to agree to his suit.
Anne Trevelyan. He had never seen her in person, and the portraits he was certain did not capture her spirit. Reports said that she was beautiful, despite the marring of her form by the elven mage; beautiful and intelligent. Her letters were eloquent and warm in tone, though they had spoken of little but shared interests and hopes for the future. He knew he would have to apply himself to learn more about her when they were, at last, face to face. But the loyalty of her companions spoke well of her - that she could count Divine Victoria as one of her friends was nothing short of admirable. Varric, too; for all that they had been on opposite sides since the beginning of the chaos, Sebastian respected the dwarf, and knew he did not give his friendship unwisely.
Of course, there had been the unexpected objection of Bann Aedan Trevelyan to the proposed match, but it seemed that his objection was more that he expected to gain from his sister's elevation and return to Ostwick than that he thought the marriage unworthy of her. Indeed, Anne's advice to simply ignore her brother had been surprisingly effective. It was sad to think that their family were not close, but not wholly a surprise. Sebastian himself had not had the closest relationship with his own family. He could only hope to do better by his own children.
Still, if everything continued on course, then in a single week, he would be a married man. He would have to indulge that part of himself he had been so scrupulous about ignoring for a decade or more. And if he was honest ... that scared him. He had not been with a woman in all that time, though the temptation had always been there. Could he restrain himself enough? What if he hurt her? He did not think he would be able to live with himself if he gave hurt to the Herald of Andraste. And what of her? Would she be able to engage in such acts without shame or regret? He hated not knowing.
"Your highness!"
Snapping out of his thoughts, Sebastian looked toward the door of the study as it was pushed open to reveal one of his personal guard, a young lad newly given his armor by the name of Drake.
"What is it?"
"News from Kirkwall, Prince Sebastian," the lad said, a little out of breath. "The Inquisitor landed there four days ago, and she's on her way here. Expected to arrive in two days, your highness. Captain Markel told me to tell you quick as I could, ser."
"You've done well, Drake," Sebastian assured the lad with a smile. "It seems our new lady will be with us in good time. Thank you for letting me know."
"Yes, ser!"
Practically vibrating with pride at having delivered his message without incident, young Drake rushed from the room to return to his post once more, leaving the prince to look out toward the bustling square.
So ... Anne was on her way. In a matter of days, he would finally look into her eyes, touch her hand, stand at her side and know her as more than a legend and a kindness in letters. But was he truly ready to make her his bride?

drake trevelyan is a templar, an almost preformatively devout andrastian, and a second-favorite child. think of him as the kyle ron of my inquisitors.
in his canonverse, he’s the older brother of daffodil—and is thankfully not the trevelyan sent to the conclave.
in an alternate universe i’ve been sort of fleshing out, childhood drake rats daffodil out to a templar for her magic, and she is sent to the ostwick circle. he is sent to the conclave to represent the trevelyans, and receives the mark. he proceeds to ruin every possible thing ever.

Rosalayn smirked as she grabbed the four cards in the center of the table and placed them on top of the previous tricks her and Bull had won.
“I don’t know how you convinced me to do this… again,” Cullen groaned, looking at his bare arms.
Bull laughed, his voice bouncing off the walls of Rosalayn’s bedroom.
“What’d she do?” he asked. “Show up in your office naked?”
“Call you to the grand hall while naked, perhaps?” Dorian said.
“Why do you assume nudity was involved?” Cullen asked, his cheeks and ears turning red.
“No nudity was needed,” Rosalayn said proudly. “See, there’s this spot near his jaw–”
“Rose!”
The three of them laughed heartily while Cullen rubbed his hand over his neck. Rosalayn reached under the table and gave his thigh a sympathetic squeeze; he pulled away as he gathered the cards and began shuffling. The crease between his eyebrows was prominent, as was his pout. Bull adjusted his and Rosalayn’s counting cards, marking their score as eight. He leaned over the table and looked pointedly at Dorian and Cullen’s score. Two.
“You’ll be losing your small clothes next,” Bull taunted.
He threw his head back making Cullen’s mantle that hung off his horns ripple like hair.
“It doesn’t go on your head,” Cullen mumbled.“Are you ordering up or passing?”
“Pass,” Rosalayn said.
“I’ll pass as well,” Dorian added.
Bull tugged on the mantle as he also said, “Pass.”
“Good,” Cullen grunted.
He picked up the face-up card and replaced it with one in his hand before shoving the remaining cards in the kitty across the table to Dorian.
“Alone?” Dorian asked. “You’ve thought about this, haven’t you? Or have you already forgotten what happened the last time you went alone?”
“Trust me, I haven’t,” Cullen hissed.
Dorian shrugged. “All right. It’s all you, Commander.”
Rosalayn plucked a card from her hand and tossed it in the center of the table: the Divine of drakes. She looked at Cullen and snorted into laughter. Jaw clenched and heat traveling from his face into his neck, he threw down his cards and stood from the table with such force his chair fell behind him. Dorian and Bull joined in the laughter, and Bull placed an off-suit card on Rosalayn’s.
“Here, I’ll just go ahead and play that for you,” Rosalayn said, grabbing the king of drakes from Cullen’s card pile.
“The one card,” Cullen growled. “The one bloody card that could stop me!”
“Off with the small clothes!” Dorian demanded.
Cullen groaned and slipped off the last bit of his clothing, leaving him completely exposed. He threw it at Rosalayn before hastily grabbing the chair and sitting down to hide himself.
He looked down at his discarded hand and pouted. “Never again.”
