8. common fandom opinion that everyone is wrong about

this one got long

im kind of in the smaller circle of fans that thinks mikoto is the best written prisoner and the best love story ever told so i really dont see much of this anymore- but,, the fear/idea/opinion that mikoto is a flat, poorly-written depiction of DID. he's not. he is the best depiction of DID i have personally seen. his CV has voiced at least one other DID-coded character

(kaneki ken, whose whole story is- and im sorry this is a long tangent- but hey my mom abused me, i do a lot of fawning towards the people around me. oh m,uy god i went on a date that ended with me being turned into a half-ghoul, i feel inhuman and scared. oh and now im being tortured and ive come out of it feeling like a completely different person with a drastically different appearance. im fucked up. oh when i get put into the most traumatizing situations ever i revert back to my "tortured self." i talk to past versions of myself in my headspace. oh i got stabbed in the brain, now im sasaki haise, a reflection of my past self who fawned a lot and felt more soft and human. and i look and act different again. oh fuck i got triggered horribly and i remember im kaneki, rinse and repeat until he finally gets his happy ending)

but anyway back to mikoto. he reads very heavily as someone with DID who is not in a safe position to discover his system, so his parts blend together to try and be as "whole" as possible- he is RGB and the color wheel, a spectrum. blue is a soft color, its his main color (though his official color "grey-blue" is very notably a toned down, dull version of a true blue). he is probably very detatched from the red-tones of his system, his anger and pride and distress, he acts like he's fine when, internally, he's having 40 breakdowns at once. he'll forget about the bad parts after a while, like they never happened! until his next breakdown, when all those repressed feelings and memories come flooding back, only to get shoddily tucked away again. rinse and repeat.

and then he faces something terribly traumatic- he murders someone. (which, yes, is traumatizing to the murderer too) that (and coming to milgram) probably sparked John's "birth"- the need for an emotional protector, and/or a new host. the parts of him that killed someone get shoved to the back of his brain by mido, greenkoto- his gatekeeper. but these parts still bleed into him, hence all of MeMe. his unforgiven verdict likely pushed away the main offender in his murder(s), and john took his new identity to protect mikoto from his new threats (kotoko and the warden), but after seeing mikoto act one way, only to act totally different (john pre-name, a budding identity, a new protector/host) his DID becomes way more noticeable. john is very blunt, his more emotional parts are detached. if he shows too much of them, they could get hurt again, and he cant have that

but pre-milgram, mikoto and john were not consciously aware of their DID, they were "single." when a system is forcefully discovered, the "single person" facade shatters, fragments become more apparent, and separate identities take time and effort to form a "person" or "people" john can not be born AND become a fleshed-out identity overnight, it takes time. (also im listening to neoplasm again and ahhh, he refers to his host/emotional parts/the blues of him as his heart. i love john so much)

aNYWAY I THINK MIKOTO IS VERY WELL WRITTEN AND A GREAT STORY OF SELF-LOVE AND DEDICATION AND HE IS A LOVE STORY IN HIMSELF GOODBYE!!!!!! GOODBYE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Trans fem dave anon here: I’m sorry if my ask offended you, i meant it lightheartedly/jokingly and its completely my fault for not making that clearer, but you are being very presumptuous about my stances on homestuck characters genders/my hypothetical reasonings behind those stances.

I just dont see how transfem dave would inherently be bad representation. I dont even headcanon dave as transfem or have any particularly strong feelings about the headcanon either way, but i can see a case being made for it and i can see how it can be done well. For example, a transfem dave story arc could explore various things such as how her bro-induced trauma may have impacted her relationship with gender and her body, or explore how her perception of gender in general was affected by the media she consumed when she was younger, or how her relationship with gender might complicate her already tenuously developing relationship with her sexuality, or, or, or (you get the picture). There are many ways this story can be done well (even if we may not trust the writers to do it well…) so, although youre entitled to your own opinion, i dont think you should write it off completely as “bad representation”

And while i do personally hc roxy to be transfem, its not because shes a “transfem icon” or whatever you said, but because i think its interesting to have a young character who has already transitioned and is already comfortable (or mostly comfortable) in their own skin as a trans person. (I wont belabour the point though since I think you agree with the transfem roxy hc already?)

Yes I agree in the transfem roxy headcanon, specifically because there is a lot of transfem subtext to her character. I will bite the bullet and say I understand where you are coming from and so believe that Dave as a trans women would be an interesting arc, I think it would be the wrong one - if that makes sense.

First of all, Homestuck is a comedy. One of the aspects of a comedy is that the characters dont really change (personality wise) unless it’s been heavily foreshadowed and hinted at up until it’s coming about like Gamzee’s murder spree or Rose’s alchoholism. And since there’s nothing to fall back on, it’s just not something I see could happening in Homestuck. It’d be bad storytelling as it doesn’t stick with the genre.

Secondly, it doesn’t go along with his character. Dave never was shown to be struggling in his masculinity, and he was never shown to be forced into it, and he never grew out of it when he was no longer under Bro Strider’s abuse. Not saying he could retain all his personality and interests during the switch, however, seeing as what Homestuck did to Roxy in HS^2 and seeing what the fandom did to John in August 2020, I know that’s not going to be the case if this goes homestuck-mainstream.

Lastly, the post your anon was referring to was greatly about transmasc roxy was bad specifically because it was a slap in the face to transfem homestucks that have loved and have projected through Roxy for years. The oldest transmasc Dave fanfiction I’ve found was from 2011 and I have no idea how old the oldest transmasc Dave fanart there is because there is so. many. Not to mention the transmasc homestucks that have named themselves after him, just as homestuck transfems had done with Roxy. So I’ll say it again: if taking away transfem Roxy and making her transmasc is bad rep, then taking away transmasc Dave and making him transfem it’s bad rep.

I understand that I’m likely to get hate for this, but, with all the love and respect in my heart: i dont particularly care. I’m not getting on this bandwagon. You can, I won’t.

Idk how much you know about those with BPD and their partners but I wonder if you could do an analysis on how Paul might have been affected by it if John did in fact have bpd. I’ve been on forums and BPD partners always write about how they’re trauma bonded and how intoxicated they are by their BPD partners, how hard it is to let go and stuff

John, Paul & trauma bonding - an analysis:

“Love has a nasty habit of disappearing overnight…”

Oooh this is a really great ask!! But also, a really difficult one, because ive had to think about and research it quite a bit. Before diving into the question I just want to make 3 things clear:

1. Not all people with bpd are abusive - but it can be a result of the disorder, and John was abusive. It isn’t uncommon for those who have been abused (a likely cause of the disorders development) to sometimes go on to become the abusers: its a cycle. John, in my opinion, experienced some emotional/verbal abuse from Mimi - and this combined with Johns abandonment traumas, I think are the key causes for him *possibly* developing the disorder, and also the roots of his patterns of abuse within relationships.

2. We don’t know for certain if John had bpd - but I think you can make a fairly strong argument for the case that he did. But we’ll never know. But just to make my life easier, im going to discuss Johns psychology here as if he were actually diagnosed with bpd, because I don’t want to have to constantly be typing out “but obviously we dont know for certain that he had bpd this is just speculation ok—”

3. I am not a mental health professional, im just a 17 year old girl whose giving her opinion on all this. I do feel as though I know enough about bpd to at least have an opinion on this though - my brother has been diagnosed with bpd so I know what a relationship with someone with the disorder can look like. I have also independently researched the disorder quite extensively by means of various books, works and even just internet forums and discussions, because its something that really interests me. So whilst I feel like I can give an opinion on this, I think its still crucial that I clarify that I am not an actual mental health professional, just someone with an interest in psychology, and so there might be misconceptions throughout this - feel free to correct me on those, I won’t be offended.

Okay so now that thats all out of the way, onto the substance of the ask!

In my opinion, John’s bpd very much did invade his relationship with Paul, and the insecurity, angst, anger and overall instability that arose as a result of never being properly treated for the disorder, is the actual root cause for the the Lennon/McCartney breakup - and so when dissecting the relationship, and subsequent breakups and rebounds etc. I find it to be important and enlightening to analyse it through a borderline lens.

I think that there is some very real truth to the argument that John and Paul were trauma bonded, and ill talk about examples of this throughout their relationship later, but the first thing im going to suggest is that the way in which John treated Paul was arguably emotionally abusive. @thecoleopterawithana made a really interesting post relating to this, which I would recommend giving a read, but essentially, John would “test” Paul, to try and uncover if his love was genuinely unconditional, or if Paul was prepared to inevitably abandon and discard him: ultimately, Pauls love was unconditional.

And Pauls unconditional love, as well as his constant defences of John’s unsavoury behaviour might be evidence of trauma bonding.

Paul seemed to stay at a relative (physical, though also emotional) distance from John (and the others, but namely, John) during the mid-60s, by living in London whilst the rest moved into the suburbs. This is perhaps because Paul understood on some level that he couldn’t get too close with John, because that only tended to result in harm on both behalf’s. Space was mandatory for the relationship to work.

Paul seemed bound to John, however; it didn’t appear to matter how much John hurt him (and in my opinion, he hurt him a lot. I think his relationship with John genuinely took a toll on his confidence and self-security over the years) he seemed always prepared to be there for John, and to make amends. Part of this I think is because Paul is just a somewhat paternal person, by nature. It seems as though he seeks to “save” people, to some degree, but he also doesn’t like to get too wrapped up within their issues. So he’s always there for John, prepared to comfort and defend him - but he’s never fully there. He’ll never tell John everything he’s feeling, there has to be almost this barrier; almost like a parent/child relationship in my opinion: Paul has to maintain that idolatry status.

Im further inclined to believe that there was almost a parental relationship* between the two by this quote (x) : “I always find myself wanting to excuse John’s behaviour, just because I loved him. It’s like a child, sure he’s a naughty child, but don’t you call my child naughty. Even if it’s me he’s shitting on, don’t you call him naughty. That’s how I felt about this and I still do. I don’t have any grudge whatsoever against John. I think he was a sod to hurt me. I think he knew exactly what he was doing and because we had been so intimate he knew what would hurt me and he used it to great effect.”

(*I should clarify however that just because I compare them to a parent and child, doesn't mean I think their relationship reflected that exclusively. In my opinion, it was one so convoluted that it cant really be subjected to just one exclusive term such as "romantic" or "platonic" or "brotherly" etc. - there are aspects of all these attributes between John and Paul, but I wouldn't use any one word to define them)

Paul was certainly hurt by John, but what especially stands out to me is that Paul could acknowledge that the pain John so often caused him over the years, was purposeful, and yet he still chose to forgive him every time. He even sought to make amendments, despite Johns prevailing rejections and disparagements.

But after all these attempts in reestablishing a relationship, I think John still had an issue of assuming he was unloved - which was especially difficult to quell with those he cared for the most. As Paul said in ‘Dear Boy’ “I guess you never knew…that love was there. And maybe when you look to hard…you never do become aware. I guess you never did become aware”. John searched so thoroughly for love, so much so that he could never accept how apparent it was. These lyrics (if they are about John, which I think they almost certainly are) seem to suggest that Paul eventually grew tired of trying to make John see that he loved and cared for him. He’d tried and tried again to satisfy that insecurity within John, but he just never could.

“It was honesty, but it could hurt. And it wasn't really all that honest. He knew he could hurt. He could be wicked. But I'm always sensible. That's me. I would never say the things he said.” - again, this quote tells us that Paul recognised the pain and the abuse of which John inflicted upon him, and also recognised that it was not accidental.

These weren't slip-of-the-tongue remarks that John would make; when John would say he didn't like a song Paul wrote for example, it was an intimate insult. For sure, they were a band, and so criticising a song your bandmate has written certainly isn't abusive - and, if words are minced delicately, im sure most would hesitate to even call pure constructive criticism between bandmates "cruel". Simply, thats what you do if you're in a band, you have to communicate your likes and dislikes. But the difference is that there always seems to be a subtle but real cruelty to John with his "criticisms" - and im certain that "I don't like your song" is far from the worst thing John would have ever said to Paul. Especially in later years, when John would criticise his former partners work, there was always this hint of aggression and underlying motive to hurt, rather then just a pure "I want to help him improve his work" sentiment.

I think Paul could be prone to hurting John too, but I don't believe this was intentional for the most part. Im sure he must have said some nasty and fowl things during arguments, but I don't think Paul is the type to just make useless, un-motivated, cruel remarks, just out of his own insecurity. And I feel as though Paul could recognise that this insecurity was the chief cause compelling John to hurt others - thus why Paul is so prone to defending and forgiving him. He pitied him (as expressed in this Howard Stern interview).

And it also appears that he could never have accepted being entirely estranged from John; I cant imagine Paul ever cutting John out completely, I think he would always have been there for him, irregardless of the painful toll it could take on him. And I feel that he still sought Johns approval, even after acknowledging that it was not the be all and end all of judgements. Even if every critic on the planet praised his work, I think Paul would still be inclined to gain Johns approval, because it really meant something to him (x).

Therefore, it isn't surprising that Paul might question how real the love between him and John actually was. If John could switch from extremes of friendliness to antagonism, its no surprise that Paul struggles to comprehend that John did love him - and in whichever way you choose to interpret this love, it was still just that at its very core: love. But that this love was so often diverted in place of cruel comments coming from just scared and lonely man, naturally has made Paul ponder the question over the years.

A weaker piece of evidence, though one I still feel is worth mentioning, is that Pauls lyrics suggest to me a relationship that involved a lot of inconsistent expressions of love. Lyrics like: “Maybe im amazed at the way you love me all the time” and “Love has a nasty habit of disappearing overnight” feel especially evocative of this, particularly the lyric from ‘Maybe Im Amazed’. It seems almost passive aggressive to me, suggesting that Paul found Lindas consistent warmth and love incredulous, because he’d spent so many years experiencing Johns mood swings and black and white thought patterns. But as I admitted earlier, they aren’t particularly strong pieces of evidence, just something to think about really.

We have to question however, where John might have picked up these “trauma bonding” behavioural patterns from. Id argue, it relates strongly to John having scarcely felt like he was loved and appreciated in the truest sense growing up. Those that were warmer and more open with their love (Uncle George, Julia etc.), tragically left him, whether by choice or not. And those that stuck around (Aunt Mimi) seemed to have found real difficultly in expressing this same warmth.

I get the sense that John gathered this nature of criticising others, in place of expressing love, chiefly from his Aunt Mimi. Mimi was allegedly highly critical of John throughout his lifetime - according to Cynthia (x) she, “brought John up very strictly, with lots of rules and expectations. She was hard to please, easily disappointed, and she would make it known…Mimi obviously worshiped him, [but] John was clearly a disappointment to her.”

The words, “easily disappointed, and she would make it known” especially stand out to me, because they suggest that Mimi’s constant disappointments and degrading of John was not really driven by her want for him to do well in school, work etc. but more so that she just felt this narcissistic compulsion to disparage others. I don’t deny that Johns behaviour throughout his adolescence must have been hugely frustrating to her (skipping school, drinking, failing classes etc.), and with him growing up in the 1950s, im not expecting her to have reacted to these rebellions in the same manner that a parent might today (with a little more empathy due to advances in our understanding of psychology) - but I still have to wonder, what made John rebel in such a way? What was the drive? It seems as though he was well-equipped with all the resources he could have needed to do well in school, and yet there was no motivation, no pull for him to do so. To say that he was “just a teenager” or “just lazy” seems a little too simple for me; id argue that it was more so driven by his inability to satisfy Mimi as a child. I think Mimi’s constant meanderings and subtle criticisms drove out any inclination in John to do well in school, and instilled instead this tendency to rebel.

In my opinion, Mimi dissolved him of any self-confidence - and although she did provide John with a security that Julia seemingly could not, I think she was still constructing an insecure attachment pattern in John, through her passive aggression and criticism. It seems John could scarcely make her proud, because she just was not willing express a lot of warmth with him; and I think ultimately, these traits were reflected within John and his relationships with others, in later life. His ego remained so hurt and fractured by comments made consistently throughout his upbringing, that he subsequently felt this compulsion to hurt and disregard those around him in a similar vain.

As Cynthia once said, its almost as though John was both this hurt, lonely little boy, whilst simultaneously also being this tired and broken, middle-aged man. There were so many troubles wrapped up within him, that he felt the only way to satisfy this was to hurt others; but of course, that did not work.

I don’t deny that there was plenty of affection between the two - especially after the Beatles got famous. John no longer needed Mimi in his life, but he kept in touch with her to a degree that suggests he really did appreciate her. In a lot of ways, the relationship between John and Mimi reminds me of me and my own mothers relationship. She’s never been a particularly warm person, certainly prone to criticism, and growing up she was not empathetic or understanding of aspects concerning mental health and personality. But there is still a lot of love between us (as I think there was between John and Mimi), and in some ways its good to have a pretty “old-school” person, who isn’t excessively caught up in psycho-analysis or introspection; its kind of grounding, y’know. And so, perhaps im just projecting, but thats partly why I feel like John came to really appreciate Mimi in later years. But despite Johns appreciation and respect for his Aunt, I think its still fair to acknowledge her short-comings as a parent, and discuss how these attributes might have shaped John in later life. I don't place the entire burden of blame for Johns mental health issues upon her, because there were multiple traumas he experienced throughout his lifetime. But I am still especially compelled to dissect his relationship with Mimi, and her treatment of him, even more so then I am with his relationship with Julia or Alf!

So overall, I do think that John and Paul were trauma bonded. John could be cruel to Paul, and though Paul might have pushed back on this abuse, showing some intolerance towards John, he was still always prepared to return to him, and appeared always to be seeking his approval. Even if John will never know the many ways Paul tried to show him he loves him, and tried to keep him from abandoning him, Paul will still always be led back to that ‘Long And Winding Road’.

“Well, it’s a yes for me” Eyeing him in this Hot pink-fitted Burliti suit, which you paired with a very sheer black Arnar Mar turtle neck. The minute you saw the piece on the runway you’d been dying to get it on someone with melanated skin, and it just so happens, the boys are fresh off the US leg of their stadium tour! So, lucky for you, baby boy’s been in the sun a lot, and Namjoon’s currently a sinful shade of brown and you're totally here for it…

Then to top it off, the mesh material of the turtle neck creates the perfect silhouette around his offensively toned chest, outlining the muscles sinfully. Eternally snorting at the way the fans are gonna thank and curse you out all at the same damn time once they see the looks you’ve pulled for this man!

And yes, you had your crew bring extended shades of foundation and concealer, because his face and neck will match if your name is going to be attached to these damn photos! 

Head tilted to the side as you silently observe the way he rakes over his reflection in the mirror, it’s a sixth sense you’ve acquired as a stylist at this point. Half of your job is essentially being a hype man/self love coach, real shit, a lot of these artist aren't always as...confident as one may think!

And just like clockwork Namjoon runs his palm down his thighs, smoothing out nonexistent wrinkles on his pants for the umpteenth time in the span of oh I don’t know 30 seconds? Which in turn prompts you to say….

“You look good Joonie...” Musing over your second glass of Don, the compliment was genuine, tone warm, soothing even, not a hint flirtation insight because that wasn’t your motive. You weren’t trying to get him flustered you’re just trying to gas him up a little, you wanted to see Namjoon get alittle cocky and feel himself!

Ears perking up like an overgrown puppy, head whipping in your direction “Yeah?” The way this man’s eyes just lit up like the soul skyline. I just-goddamn, an almost bashful smile toys on those plush lips of his, and you can’t help the way your chest flutters with nothing but fondness.

“So fuckin cute” Flutters off your lips, as you hide a smile of your own behind a half empty whine glass. The delivery was so faint it almost go lost in the background music floating through the air. However the slight flush hitting his cheeks let you know Namjoon heard you whether he wanted to admit it or not!

”Mmmhmm, the color looks fuckin insane against your skin, not to mention, the way everything's going to pop once we tone your hair a little! “ Eyes drinking him in from head to toe, though there was nothing suggestive playing within your iris. Very much aware of time and place and right now your genuinely looking respectfully! Seeing if any alterations are needed, making sure you like where everything sits along his frame. Making notes in your phone of places you want to pin and adjust later...snapping a couple shots here and there. 

Licking his lips anxiously as he plays with the lapels on the blazer “But like-I mean-I- dont’-It doesn’t look like I’m... trying too hard or anything?” Brows furrowed in the center of his face, jaw tight, wincing slightly at his own words, almost as if he was afraid of your response. The vulnerability within his delivery was more than evident, and no matter how common this is with artist, it’s still just as devastating! Regardless of how much he tried to play it off as if he was just making casual conversation, you can see how blatantly uncomfortable he is . Gazing back at you wide eyed, and uncannily exposed, pointing at the outfit in question. Licking his lips anxiously as he plays with the the blazer, switching posses subtlety trying to get a better feel for the suit.  

You stayed silent for a minute, taking the time to actually process before speaking which is rare, not gonna lie. Gaze piercing as you hop off the bed, wine, and accessories in hand, swaying closer. “It’s fashion”. The baited pause almost implied that’s all you had to say, as if one-word was self-sufficient, and in your mind it was...but you knew better than to just leave it at that.

“Art at its finest Mr. Kim” You smile something a little devious, and he flushes even deeper as you slowly start to invade his space eyes locked with him meaningfully. You can physically see the shift, the closer you get, Namjoon starts fidgeting slightly under your gaze but he doesn't back down.

“It gives you room to play, create...it’s something that let’s us connect to people without saying a damn thing.” Suddenly the hand that wasn’t holding your alcohol has become a prop, flailing around haphazardly as you spoke, pointing at the various pieces hanging on clothes racks in your suite! The penthouse has essentially been transformed into your own personal walk in closet for the next 5 or so days! “It’s a statement. A opportunity to tap into a side of yourself that maybe you can’t always verbally articulate to the world around you! More importantly, it’s supposed to be fun, it’s literally something that can be removed within seconds! I mean we all have to wear clothes so why not just enjoy it?”  Head cocked to the side as you appraise him, brow quirked, eyes warm, yet there's a clear challenge playing within your gaze.

Namjoon’s watching you intently, almost as if he’s taking mental notes as you speak...the heaviness within those dangerously honed eyes of his could almost be unsettling to some, but you quite like it. Made you feel as though he actually gives a flying fuck about what you’re saying.

“In my opinion the only time it looks like someone’s “Trying too hard” Making little air bunnies with your spare hand “Is if they look uncomfortable in what they’re wearing, confidence is key, and I know you know that better than anyone RM!” You muse batting your lashes in Namjoon’s direction, and he dimples back at you, eyes sinking into tiny crescents, face rivaling the color of his suit, trying to hide said smile behind his own glass of champagne.  

“I could put you in a damn clown suit...” Words trailing off your tongue lackadaisically as you grow distracted searching the bar for a specific chain from John Hardy. “Which” Focus snapping back in his direction making the later splutter a little “Would be fire as fuck if I did by the way, but-”  Namjoon ended up cackling midsentence, almost choking on his drink in the process, fist pounding against his sternum.

Yeah..killing the leader of Bangtan wasn’t really high on your list tonight....

“Ayee, none of that shit...” Smacking him in the back a little more so just to be an ass because he wasn’t even choking anymore “Don’t die on me until we at least get this damn photoshoot done, I had to cancel my trip to Jamaica for this shit!”

Now he’s damn near choking and his laugh was contagious, it’s just.. loud, carefree so yes, your cackling, and there's nothing cute about it. But you honestly don’t care, you let yourself get lost in it! Finally able to feel the atmosphere in the room start to shift to something a little less scripted and a little more organic...

Throwing his hands in the air as If he’s waving a nonexistent white flag “I’m sorry, noona” There’s a pout playing in his lips, not exactly aegyo per say, but it’s fuckin adorable “Blame PD-nim, it’s his fault we had to do this so last minute” Wheezes from his throat, in the form of a slight whine, almost rivaling Jimin if I’m honest.

You already know he was laughing more so due to your delivery, specifically, your casual use of profanity over anything else. This is actually something you use to be self-conscious about, especially at your first shoot with the boys, at the shoot for GQ . Well aware it wasn’t as common in Asia for people especially women to use “fuck” like a comma. So you were hoping they wouldn’t be offended, or uncomfortable by your dialect, and, thankfully they didn’t seem to mind. Much like Joonie over here, they found it entertaining over anything.

“Yeah, a huh, sureee...” Eyes rolling to the back of your head playfully as you start lightly altering the suit in question with clips and pens. “Stay still babe” The pet name slipped off your tongue effortlessly, honestly, that's what you call most people in your life. However you were far too focused to notice how wide eyed and flustered the man before you became upon hearing it directed at him so casually.

A faint little “Sorry” muses off his lips as he gnaws on his inner cheek, trying to stay still as you ghetto-rig hems into place until you can get this under your sewing needle.

“ No, but real shit…” You sigh, taking on a slightly more serious tone “If you step in front of that camera like you own the bitch, regardless of what your wearing..., then they can’t tell you shit! If your comfortable there’s no such thing as trying too hard” You shrug nonchalantly like that was the simplest concept known to man, downing the rest of your drink “Alright, that’s all, thanks for coming to my Ted talk” Waving him off as if you’re about to leave the room and he pouted playfully, jokingly begging you not to leave him yet...it felt good to be able to banter like this. The shift continuous shift within the atmosphere was more than welcomed…

Hesitantly you watch his eyes find their way back to the full length mirror, which promptly smacks you back to reality!

Unfortunately you didn't fly all the way to Seoul just to drink,  and shoot shit with Namjoon for hours on end,  your actually here to work…

Sooo...

“Alright” Placing your arms on his shoulders, giving him a reassuring squeeze as you peer over his shoulder. Meeting his gaze through the glass, chin resting gently against the blade. “Back to the reason you came Mr. “I’m sooo anxiously” Shooting him a teasing little smirk in the process “The suit, yay or nay”

So, here’s the thing technically the official fitting is tomorrow, and as far as his team knows he’s in the studio with Yoongi and Hoseok finishing up a song!

Which of course raises the question as to why he’s here..alone..mind you..no staff or security in site.

Also, YES...I did see that they actually put Tae in that Burliti suit (I wrote this long before that shoot was released)...I actually hated the way it was styled it though...I never thought I’d say this but MGK’s team did a better job than BH....

Dean didn't know exactly where the streets would lead him, or if they would lead him anywhere. After all, he honestly didn't understand heaven very well, but he felt that he should drive along the road.

His thoughts were mostly focused on this strange feeling that he had. He felt like he was suppose to be looking for someone or something. Or maybe he was suppose to see someone? He didn't know exactly what it was, but he kept driving.

The radio in the car had been turned off after some time. The sound of insects and the roaring of his baby's engine were the only sounds that could be heard. Despite it being dark as night, everything was relatively clear to him.

After a while, he realized that he was driving to a large mountain.

Dean parked baby next to the curb and saw a small entrance on the side of the street. He got out of the car and headed towards the entrance which led him to a small dirty path that runs through the forest.

In any other situation, Dean would never go in there alone. But for some reason, he felt excited to see what was inside.

And he went inside the forest.

The insects chirping sound continued. Although, none of them could be seen as Dean walked along the path. Suddenly, Dean came across a small area with no trees in sight. He could see a canyon with a small security fence. He walked over there and started getting closer to the peak of the canyon where he saw someone leaning against the fence.

In that moment, Dean felt his heart skip a beat for some reason.

He couldn't see who the mysterious person was due to the poor lighting in this place, but Dean felt like he knew this person. He felt drawn to them.

Dean slowly approached the person and saw that this person was wearing a flannel with ripped Jeans.

"Didn't your mom ever tell you that it's rude to stare at someone, Dean?"

Dean stopped in his tracks after that sentence left the mysterious person's voice. That voice, he knew that voice all too well.

"Y/N? Is that y-you?" Dean asked, fumbling over his words slightly. He couldn't believe what he saw and ran over to you quickly.

"You don't even recognize me anymore?" Y/N spoke playfully, putting over his heart, pretending to be offended.

Dean wanted to cry, but kept his tears at bay as he took in every detail about Y/N.

It has been so long since he seen you and you looked just the same.

"I was waiting for you to arrive. But you weren't suppose to be here this early, idiot." Y/N scolded, flicking Dean in the forehead who grunted in pain.

"Were you really waiting for me? Even after everything I did?"

"Um, at first? Nope. I wanted you to burn in the fires of hell while Satan played basketball with your balls." You admitted.

Y/N didn't really change at all. Dean thought, looking at the male in front of him.

"But, after staying over there for about what? 20 years?" Y/N pointed over to the Abyss where he's been staying at, "And after seeing you cry and humbling yourself over me, I started hating you a little less than I did before." You told him.

Dean looked down at the ground, still regretting what he had done.

He remembered everything he had done and how he had lost the love of his life.

<20 years ago>

"Dean, what do you mean by that?"

"What I meant was that I don't want to be with you anymore. You are no longer useful or worthy of my time."

"B-But, you told me that you would never leave me, Dean. You promised me that you wouldn't leave me!" You cried out, wondering why this was happening. We're you really just an easy fuck? Someone to just fill his lustful desires? Did he ever really love you at all?

"Well, guess what? I lied. Do you really think that I need you, Y/N? You mean nothing to me," Dean told you. He was lying about everything he just said. He needed you more than ever. "The only thing you were was an easy fuck. That's all. I'm seeing someone named, Cassie. And she is the one who deserves all my time and attention." Dean knew that he was breaking your heart, but he had to do it. John would never accept this relationship and he didn't want to lose his family because of this.

So, that night. After so much arguing, fighting, and crying, Y/N ran away.

There was no way he could stay here in Kansas with that stupid green eyed fool who broke his heart to pieces.

You have been calling Dean's phone to which he ignored all of your calls.

A week later, Y/N was found dead. The autopsy report shows that he died from hemorrhage.

Dean's phone blew up with numerous messages, but he never read any of them.

And from the day he heard about Y/N's death, Dean cried himself to sleep and hated himself for not saving the one person he loved most.

<Present Day>

"You know, I still don't forgive you for what you did. You are the cause of my death. But, you're kind of my soulmate, so I can't really hate you." You stated, sighing in exasperation.

"To be honest with you, I don't think I deserve to be forgiven. If I hadn't broken up with you that night, you would still be alive. And getting pissed at Sam and me for starting the apocalypse." Dean laughed, but that was more of a humorless laugh.

You leaned against the fence again, staring over at the Abyss.

"I've heard you say that too many times, you know?" Dean approached you and leaned against the fence, looking over at the dark Abyss, "When you were alive, I didn't exactly have a heaven to go to since you would need your soulmate there with you. So, I ended up here." Y/N brought his gaze over to Dean, "And I was able to watch over you and know exactly what you were feeling for the past 20 years," Dean could feel some tears falling from his eyes, "I can't say I'm proud of everything you did, but I am proud to be your soulmate."

The two were silent for a while before Dean decided to speak up.

"So, what happens now?" Dean asked.

"What do you want to happen?" Y/N retaliated, moving away from the fence and started heading towards the path of the forest. Dean started following behind him.

"You can either stay with me and make up for lost time. You can ignore my existence or just go to the bar. You have several options." You said as Dean started looking over your entire body.

The red flannel shirt that Y/N was wearing belonged to Dean. His pants were slightly torn which resulted from an old hunt of theirs and Y/N's hair was the same way it was 20 years ago. Not that it would change because he was dead, after all. He was so lost in thought, he didn't even realize they arrived at the Impala.

"So, what will it be?" You asked as Dean sat on the hood of his car and pulled you into his lap. His only reply was attaching his lips to Y/N's.

Dean felt something inside of him find warmth and comfort from the kiss and having Y/N this close to him. And he couldn't help but cry.

"I choose to stay with you. Now, how can I make it up to you?" Dean asked once he broke the kiss and looked at Y/N in the eyes.

"Well, I could ask you for your eternal servitude or something humiliating. And I'll probably ask at some point, but for now..." You hoped off of his lap and opened the door to the backseat of his car, "For now, I would like you to hold me." You held out your hand to him and he happily granted your wish.

That night, Dean felt like he was whole again. He had the love of his life snoring peacefully on his chest and he could have sworn he heard a song playing.

This was really Dean's heaven.
