Y'know, the fact that a lot of the employees found out via Twitter is messed up.
Like "Breaking up with someone through a text message" messed up.
They deserved to have found out through a company email or in a meeting.
There are so many people who just lost their jobs and they found out through Twitter. That's just nuts.

This is gonna be a not very conventional critic post about rwby, but it’s one that I wanna talk about. This is specifically about how much the trains suck in rwby.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Starting off with the forever fall train, this is bad.
The wheels aren’t even on the rails ffs, how can it run then? What’s the point of having rails and wheels if they’re not even gonna touch.
Tumblr media
The subway train also suffers from this but at least some of the wheels are on the tracks
Tumblr media
Next is the Argus train… dear lord. This thing is so ugly, this thing looks less like an actual train and more like you asked an AI to generate a futuristic train. Now there are armoured trains in real life, they were used in WW2, but this doesnt seem to replicate that at all, and looks so awkward and it doesn’t even look like it functions properly.
Finally the mistral train.
Tumblr media
Oh boy, first of all the wheels are the biggest issue. The wheels are so fucked up, on real trains they have wheel flanges (the parts of the wheels that guide on the rails) they have them on the inside of the rails. In the mistral one they have flanges both on the inside and out. This would cause excessive friction on the tracks and would cause the train to move slower. Incredibly inefficient.
Tumblr media
Secondly the cab and boiler are separated from each other. That would usually be where the firebox is. The point of a steam engine is that the firebox heats up the water in the boiler to make steam that creates pressure and moves the cylinders. The firebox being removed defeats the purpose. Also the cow catcher on the front it too high to be able to do it’s purpose which is to not run over any livestock that may stumble onto the rails. It defeats the purpose of having it.
Tumblr media
I know this stuff doesn’t matter in the long run but as someone who’s special interest is trains, this kinda thing is important to me and I just want to talk about it

A few comments on a recent post about RWBY I made got me thinking about something. Basically, I think that Rooster Teeth – and possibly by extension its parent companies – have artificially inflated RWBY as a media project and franchise rather than letting it grow organically. Therefore, it became a bubble that was bound to burst at some point. RWBY might never have been a profitable IP, which might be very relevant for its future.
This is not a problem that arose after Monty Oum‘s passing, I feel like this was already coming before that. Shane Newville‘s open letter (which absolutely comes from an emotional, mentally unwell state of mind, but has had many of its contents confirmed over the years, even beyond being one of the first descriptions of the toxic work environment at Rooster Teeth) makes a few points that support this impression. Whether you agree with the letter or not, you cannot deny that the first two volumes of RWBY, while they also had merch accompanying them and stuff, were not produced following industry standards – starting with the 3D software used, Poser Pro (Monty Oum‘s preferred tool for animation). This led to some really creative animation work that, while not always high-quality by industry-standards, was certainly pushing boundaries. It was creative and it worked for what RWBY was: a passion project created by someone who saw animation as his strongest suit – as his preferred medium to tell a story. I‘ve seen a lot of people claim that Monty Oum wasn‘t a writer, and while that‘s true, I feel like the implication of that statement is always that he couldn‘t tell stories on his own. I don‘t think that‘s true. I think Monty Oum was a great storyteller when it came to expressing certain things through animated action scenes. It‘s just that he wanted to tell a story that included more than just that and a few lines of dialogue – which is where Miles Luna and Kerry Shawcross come in, two at the time very inexperienced writers (who possibly had a fallout with Monty Oum over creative differences later), as well as some talented folks – people like Shane Newville. They were chosen to work on this because Monty Oum acknowledged their potential and liked to work with them, and I feel like that created an environment where they were really allowed to flourish. Volumes 1 and 2 are certainly not flawless, but I feel like I can tell the people making it had fun.
To Rooster Teeth however? I think RWBY (and by extension, Monty Oum as a creator) might have been little more than assets to them. RWBY was first created around a time when RT first tried to be more like, well, an actual company. At least from 2014 onward, but possibly even earlier than that, this included an effort to conform to industry standards more, mostly in order to be able to hire more people – very visibly so in RWBY in the form of the switch to Maya (my opinion about that is, the way they did it didn’t do RWBY any favors at all). I think they saw RWBY and Monty Oum as an opportunity to appear… More important, bigger, than they ever really were.
So what did they do? Again, I kind of have the feeling that they “upscaled” RWBY to a size where it appears like this big thing, but it became far too much to handle. Essentially, they created a mock giant, or a metaphorical quasi-star: something that can appear big from afar, but is actually very small / unstable (and if we go with the quasi-star metaphor, disturbs all of its surroundings). This is what I mean when I say that RWBY was a bubble bound to burst, because no star lives forever – and quasi-stars can only exist under very specific, very unstable conditions (I linked a Kurzgesagt-video in case you’re interested what exactly a quasi-star / black hole star is / was, cosmology is so fascinating IMO). Once these conditions exist no longer, they both fall apart and collapse into the black hole that is their core at the same time.
My main argument for this is that RWBY was essentially a huge money sink for RT (Source: Barbara Dunkelman’s unprofessionalism). They pumped so much money into this… Perhaps even more than they ever made from it. While this isn’t 100% confirmed, it is very much possible (and IMO not exactly unlikely) that RWBY was never profitable — which it might have been if RT hadn’t been so hellbent on creating the illusion of a multi-million-dollar franchise.
This is purely speculative, but this might also be why Volume 10 was never greenlit. We know that Volume 9 was to a significant part funded by Crunchyroll and in fact would not have been possible without them (probably because RT was already out of money at this point). They might have bought into this mock giant, then realized they had pretty much been scammed once Volume 9 aired. This might have led to Crunchyroll’s unwillingness to fund another season for something they knew now was effectively a money sink. Since RT at this point lacked the funds to produce Volume 10 alone and therefore was dependent on investors like Crunchyroll and Warner Brothers… Volume 10 was never greenlit, no matter how hard they attempted to get their fans’ hopes up and start a hashtag campaign on social media (as far as I remember, that was started by Rooster Teeth, not the fans. I don’t have my Twitter account anymore though, so I can’t check). Again though, this is speculation.
The worst part? This refusal of RT to just… Downscale RWBY again, this determination that it had to be this huge franchise… Was all put on the backs of the creatives working on it. We know at this point, from multiple sources, that RWBY and other RT productions have had an incredible amount of crunchtime, working overtime, employee abuse, … going on behind the scenes, which seems to only have gotten worse after Monty Oum’s passing. At the end of the day, all RT does and has ever done is blame others for their incompetence. Like, no shit, I’ve seen fans claim that it’s the FNDM’s job to “keep the show alive” (particularly in the light of #GreenlightVolume10), which… No, that’s not the fans’ job. It’s the job of the company who has been entrusted with this beloved IP, and said company has proven to be utterly incompetent on multiple occasions, which is unfortunate, but a sad reality for all those who love RWBY. And while Rooster Teeth has never directly said such a thing, they have certainly implied it and taken advantage of the existing sentiment within their fanbase, as well as their parasocial relationship with it (again, see #GreenlightVolume10 for reference).
To clarify, I’m not saying none of this would have happened if RT didn’t insist on making RWBY this big franchise (and biting off far more than they could chew in the process) – again, RT was far too notoriously incompetent at everything a company should manage – but I do think it might have played a role. It also isn’t an excuse for all the employee abuse. Again, what they should have done is downsizing the project, not inflating it further and further.
If I’m not somehow completely in the wrong (because IMO this just makes way too much sense to not be at least partially true – but let’s face it, a lot of this is just me connecting dots, and there is always a chance I’m connecting them wrong, even though I don‘t think so), then it kinda blows my mind that there are still people who believe in this scam. Though I will say, emotional attachment can do that to anyone. If anything, I’m honestly sorry that those folks lose something that means so much to them, and that false promises were made to them.
At the end of the day, the story of RWBY (the “franchise”) is twofold. It’s a story about an incredibly talented creator who passed away far too early, who was given the incredible opportunity to make his dream come true. It’s a story of people he trusted taking up his torch, and maybe getting lost in the dark along the way. It’s an inspiring story regardless, and I hope to see it continued at a downsized scale so it can grow organically, preferably in the hands of an indie animation studio like Dillon Goo (🤞)
But it is also a cautionary tale to both creatives and companies who employ them, a tale about false promises, abuse of both employees and fans, as well as how to not run a project. Don’t blow your thing out of proportion too early, don’t create a mock giant / metaphorical quasi-star. Let your ideas and projects grow and flourish organically and sincerely.

I just going to put this here because I’m honestly sick to death of the “Sisterhood” argument and already saw people bringing up Monty again on Reddit.
No, Monty never said he intended Team RWBY to be a sisterhood (Besides Yang and Ruby who are sisters), that bs came from a random website.
The closest thing is Monty saying the interaction between the girls in Volume 2 Chapter 10 were almost sisterly, not that they are unless there a post I missed where he said otherwise then link me it.
If you prefer Yang and Blake, Ruby and Weiss, ect to be strictly platonically with each other or prefer another ship entirely then that’s fine and cool but some of y’all need to stop bringing up a dead man so your preference can some weight to it.

.... You ever just get this weird feeling that you just want to walk over someone's grave when they immediately die.
Thats me right now. And said grave is WR.
Like legit why are the toxic parts of fandom so damn vocal and why they gotta be BATSHIT FUCKIN INSANE
"rehabilitation camps" mothafuckers are trying to be fucking Hitler or some shit?!
"no mentioning WK unless it's to slander" BRO WTF. Ok one, the fact you are actively saying that you are "slandering" Whiteknight is just... I'm sorry but wtf is wrong with you?! Two, People can like a ship to dislike. I personally fucking hate WR and I want to burn it to the fuckin ground, but you don't see me (i.e human garbage) attacking WR shipers just because I hate the ship with a BURNING PASSION.
Tumblr media
"law of equivalent exchange" this shit ain't FMA knock your shit off my guy you look like a idiot trying to be intelligent.
"Church of whiterose", y'all ain't a church, y'all just butt hurt because not everyone likes WR. SUCK IT UP, it's just a damn SHIP.
And then it just gets FUCKIN worse.
Tumblr media

And to the person who's wrote these tweets and is reading this post for some ungodly reason. I want you to know you do not represent the people who enjoy and ship WR at all, I may hate the damn ship but i know damn well that there are people who enjoy it without tearing down other ships.
So take your three fuckin rules.

The Girl Who Fell Through The World Somehow.
So uh how did this girl and her brother fall in here? And how did anyone fall elegantly without some massive fall damage?
Shoutout and praise to @dragynkeep on how they redesigned Curious Cat, kinda inspired me on the coloring and animatic to begin with since they made them have pretty colors.
And another shoutout and praise to my actual real life pet cat, he angled perfectly in a picture to draw Curious Cat looking up.

Ruby, Jaune and Sun, I felt like those three are more like main characters. Aside from being leaders to their own teams, I think there's more to them than just goals to become huntsmen. For Ruby, struggling to become the leader while growing up, with Jaune learning from his mistakes to improving to follow the legacy of his ancestors, and Sun trying to make amends to his teammates in the books. What do you think?
Ruby and Jaune are spot on, but seeing as the books are god awful and I don't consider them canon at all cause they did Team SSSN so fucking filthy it's not even funny.
However I do agree that Sun's journey as a Huntsman should have indeed been about him maturing and taking things more seriously. I don't agree that he's a bad Sun Wukong allusion, just that RT handled him poorly (like everything in their damn show). Sun isn't a terrible leader, but he was definitely getting there to be his best and we never saw his progress because it was relegated to books that focused way too much on CFVY and also assassinated CFVY as characters.
Coco was honestly fine before the books, and I feel that as a second year IIRC, she could have given Ruby, Jaune, Sun, and dare I say Cardin some pointers on how and what to strive for as Team Leaders, and she subsequently learns from them too.
Cardin I feel is a complicated case since in canon he's really just the simple bully archetype, yet we here that he stayed and helped protect Beacon when shit got rough, and I say that could've been the perfect time to turn him into a Eddie Brock/Flash Thompson type person and realize he needs to shape up and atone for his previous behavior. Cardin's not a bad person, he's just a jerk that needed to wisen up but we unfortunately never got to see that.

It's not a post to shit on hydrokinesis as a power, because I love that power to death and it's the best one.
But like, I really wished that Neptune had another Semblance that isn't just "off-brand waterbender" to connect him with his allusion rather than them going the safe but uninspiring route for him.1
Yeah, this is a post suggesting that Neptune should be able to generate earthquakes. Just saying.

weirdly conflicted about rooster teeth shutting down & the end supposed end of rwby.
because, well, i can’t say the show has a fond spot in my heart. though when i first watched it, i was an awkward seventh grade girl and i had found a comfort show. and then the show continued, and i got frustrated. it was tiring to see my favorite characters become characters serving agenda - seeing a show i loves become some racist piece of maybe. maybe it was always like that, and i just didn’t notice.
and rooster teeth was a horrible, horrible company. an absolute hellhole. i am beyond happy that its done. but it looks like many of the workers didn’t even know of the shutdown, which is awful. just awful. capitalism at its finest i guess.
what’s weird is that i still feel kind of upset about this? rwby was my comfort show just three years ago, and even if its had controversies i guess i still feel sad that’s is pretty much over now. and that’s weird because of how much the show upset me at one point.
either way, im happy that rooster teeth is shutting down, but i wish that it was done in a better way. part of me is sad to see rwby go, but im also happy that it and its company are gone. and at the same time im sad? the mismanagement of the shut down was terrible. hating rooster teeth as a corporate entity, does not mean hating the individual workers who joined simply to make emds meet. all of those people, what happens to them?
i heard about the fact that there are talks about wb selling rwby, but i don’t know how i feel about that either.
all of this is weird and i just wanted to throw my thoughts out there.

I am begging whoever is designing Blake and Weiss to please stop putting them in mostly blue or white/purple.
You cut Blake’s hair you can put her in as much black as you need to it’s her color and please stop putting Weiss in most royal blue that’s not her color it should be an accent. They represent black and white let them do it.
P.s. Stop refusing to put Yang in yellow you cowards

Well, can't say this wasn't inevitable.
Roosterteeth is finally shutting down. And despite all the issues I've got with the company, it kinda is a bit of a gut punch. For a lot of people, this was probably a large chunk of internet culture that people had grown up with. From Red vs. Blue, to RWBY, to plenty of their other IPs.
And yeah. They had a lot of controversy over the years, but let's' be real: So have a lot of other companies. They weren't as bad as Activision at the very least, but goddamn, were the controversies piling up a lot.
But that's not to say that they haven't also had some good out there. There are a lot of people out there that wouldn't be as well-known without them. Voice actors, animators, writers, artists, etc. And that's not to mention the community they built.
There are plenty of people I wouldn't have met without RT's existence. Artists I never would have come across, voice actors I wouldn't have followed, animators I wouldn't have admired. All that stuff.
Not to mention the hand they had in other IPs getting more well-known. No way a show like DEATH BATTLE would have been able to make something as great as Galactus vs. Unicron for their season finale without RT's resources.
Let's not forget that this isn't just something that's affecting RT. Thanks to david zaslav and his shitty decisions, animation across WB has been taking hit after hit for years. Even live-action was shat on by the bastard. Batgirl was written off for tax reasons, Cyote vs. ACME was trashed because of his decisions. So it's more than just RT that's going down.
It's a bit of a frightening thing. If this could happen to RT, then what else can his decisions shut down?
Sure, a lot of us here in the rwde tag will be happy about RT going down, but what about the other divisions that WB has?
Not to say that RT didn't also bring it on itself. Between RTX, Gen:LOCK, all their trips outside the states, and the controversies that prompted people to cancel their FIRST memberships, RT was basically one foot in the grave. Zaslav just made them put the next foot in.
Gotta say, that this whole thing had a lot of ups and downs. But goddamn… I sure hope that all the people who worked there are going to be alright. Companies are hardly just the decisions of the higher-ups. They're also people further down the totem pole that will be hurt by this.
Sure. The writing was on the wall. But there are people who will need the support and help that they can only get through community support.
Peace out, rwde tag.

So some people really think..
Oh and warning for Gundam Witch From Mercury Spoilers By The Way and placing this underneath a read more because of spoilers and length.
RWBY's Bumbleby.. is better than Gundam Witch's SuleMio because its "Yuribait"....
Mother fucker....
I actually liked SuleMio because G-Witch was WRITTEN by someone who worked on Revolutionary Girl Utena,
The Character Development Was Good
They Actually Did Have Feelings For Eachother and It Showed
THEY ACTUALLY GOT FUCKING MARRIED IN THE END.
And some RWBY stans wanna sit there and say its fucking yuribait. I'm sorry. How many years did it take Bumbleby to become canon versus Gundam Witch.
Bumbleby- Literally a Fucking Decade
SuleMio- ONE FUCKING YEAR.
Tumblr media
RWBY Stans do me a fucking solid here...
WATCH GUNDAM THE WITCH FROM MERCURY ALL THE WAY THROUGH. DONT QUIT. JUST SHUT THE FUCK UP AND QUIT COMPLAINING ABOUT THE YURIBAIT cause
They didn't need merch ad's
They didnt need to keep sugar coating until the end.
THIS IS WHAT WE CALL GOOD FUCKING WRITING. Compared to RWBY.

Just because Rooster Teeth is a “small” company doesn’t mean people can’t call it out or that it’s above criticism.
Steel Wool Studios, Gun Media, Dynamic Pixels and Grove Street Games are also all small companies yet that didn’t stop people from “punching down” when came to giving the companies feedback back on their products or calling out the higher ups on their awful behaviour towards their employees like in the case of Kindly Beast Studios.
Rooster Teeth isn’t “hewpwess wittwe victim that did nothing wwong UwU” and that’s the same for all companies…It’s very unsettling to me how many people gives so much blind faith they put in a company but not the employees that work there both currently and formerly.

Hasn't Fairen been doing this rwby schtick for years? Has she really not watched it???
From what I know, she was beefing with someone from the Madoka fandom who so happened to have some unsavoury opinions on Ruwby and that's how we got Lilith.
She only sticks around cause of the toxicity in the fndm. She strives off it.
