So I'm watching Tangled for the 4th?... 5th? time

And there are a few things I noticed.

Mother Gothel is an idiot.

She kidnaped someone and kept her birthday the same? This is the entire reason Rapunzel escapes, bc she thinks the lanterns are for her!

You could've just said her birthday was a few days before or after the actual birthday, and when she inevitably asks "What's with the floating lights?"

Gothel can answer honestly "They're for the princess."

That's it. She'd stop wanting to see the lanterns bc she thinks they're not for her.

And when she knocks Flynn out, bc they wouldn't have had the previous, Rapunzel would've had the chance to show she can take people on.

Yes I know Gothel would still keep Rapunzel away from the outside world, but bc she no longer wants to see the lights, Flynn would've never gotten the crown back (Gothel might've gotten it instead), and he would be arrested and hanged.

She would've never been to the kingdom, she would've never gotten that flag, she would've never seen the memorial, she would've never pieced together that she's the lost princess.

And Gothel would've never turned to dust as she falls out of a window.

The entire events of the film could've easily been stopped if Gothel had of done the simplist of things.

Also Gothel tries to use the fact that the crown is why Flynn is on the journey with Rapunzel during the reprise.

Like honey, stop, you're gonna put Captain Obvious out of a job.

He only takes Rapunzel to see the lanterns bc she's taking the crown hostage, there's no deception.

Sure they might be falling for each other, but that's not the only reason why Flynn is on the quest.

TL;DR if you're gonna kidnap and manipulate a Disney Princess into being the source of your eternal youth, celebrate their birthday on a different day.

ranting abt wish songs

i wanted to listen to the wish soundtrack to mentally prepare myself for the movie and also bc i wanted to hear what the songs sounded like without putting them in the moive and also i cant watch it rn bc im not finding it hd so

and it is so frustrating like it is SO close to being actually ok like, the song 'this wish' its like its alright (wouldve been better if they hadnt been playing is at literally every advertisement and everything for months but whatever), her voice is very gorgy and its got a nice beat and actually sounds like a song but the fucking LYRICS. ARE CRAP. RHEYRE LITERALLY SO BAD. SO SO BAD ITS INSABE ITS LIKE THEY FED POP SONGS AND LIN MANUAL MIRANDA TO AN AI GENERATOR AND GOT THAT AND ITS SO

i dont think it fully hits you how bad the lyrics are at first, but then you actually hear what theyre saying and its like

Pyro is a canon disney princess.  I saw what happened to the “We don’t talk about Pyro” animation. Which is incredibly sad, but at least we have confirmation that Pyro is a canon disney princess.   I forgot to charge my usual equipment, so I drew this with my phone and finger, it’s a lot harder than I thought it was. Kudos to the artists that draw with their fingers, it’s so hard.
