Sooo... what's Rich Boys Don't Stink?

...so remember the ad for Adrien, the Fragrance? 😂 This one is partially because of that and partially because our current building has no air, and summers at work are awful, and Luka rides a bike delivering pizza look me in the eye and tell me he doesn't sweat/stink.

I don't have actual fic, just a summary/notes of where I was going. 😂

I have the Girl Squad meeting at the Liberty to plot the latest Adrienette Matchmaking Scheme. It's in the middle of a heatwave, and they go to the boat bc the river's cooler. Except they're still waiting on Marinette to get there & they don't know Dingo's also there waiting for Luka.

And Alya read this article about pheramones/Teen Boy Sweat & has some bogus bs plan about using that to finally get Adrienette together, and "Rose tell them I'm right it's SCIENCE", but Alix snarks about how Adrien doesn't sweat (and if he does it probably smells like Adrien, the Fragrance”), which is around when Dingo's like "yeah don't trust a guy who don't sweat" bc he can't listen to this crap anymore.

Which leads to Dingo getting into a fight with Alya about the matchmaking, and Alya is insistent, but even the other girls are like "but she doesn't seem interested in Adrien anymore?" But Alya is her best friend & Knows, right?

Anyway. What Alya doesn't know is that Mari's late bc all week she's been meeting up with Luka while he's making his deliveries to bring him cold water. And I'm thinking Mari & Lu arrive back at the boat together (maybe she met him at work and he gives her a ride back so they can hang?), but the others hear them laughing/Mari shrieking before M/L realize they're there. Bc she dumps water on his head & he shakes it off on her like a dog & they're just being disgustingly cute. And Dingo just smirks at Alya & tells her what Mari's been doing, bc it's hot & Lulu's a growing boy & he's Thirsty.

And it all ends with Luka & Mari kissing & Alya losing her gorram mind & Dingo going, "I knew this & you didn't does that make me more of her best friend than you?"

Shepherd and Collin obviously don't have this anomaly in the files, because they aren't replicable in the character creator, but strangely Bernard doesn't have them either. He was clearly made much later in development, as in text files, he breaks the internal naming scheme of the Rescue Corps - "Pilot" instead of "Normal#", which explains this.

An apparition on Dingo Music's Killing Voice on the 1st was promised to quick start the era's "real promotions", but that was soon followed by more weeks of silence; no teasers and no release date up until the unexpected Spotify upload of the entire album, which apparently wasn't communicated even to the group themselves.

Live Yapper Line reaction - fully back online now that J.J has reactivated his Instagram account. Haegon's caption translates to a plain and simple: 'boycott.'

You made your way out of school, you were exhausted and your sister wasn’t picking you up today - you had to get the bus. There wasn’t anything wrong with it but none of your friends got the bus and you were too embarrassed to ask for a ride, your house wasn’t bad or anything, it just wasn’t as big as theirs. It was silly, but still you just got the bus.

You sat at the window seat, pretty far back and out of the way and waited for the bus to leave. People filed on slowly and you hoped no one sat next to you. Then someone did. You kept your head down and hoped they didn’t start conversation, you’d had a rough day. Just general stress, plus your mum was in a bad mood when you left that morning, and then you’d gotten a test back that you didn’t do well on. So overall - not a good day

You pretended to fix your skirt, then a voice caught your attention, “Y/N?” he said. It was Ponyboy. He was sitting next to you. You had english together and you were to work on an essay about something, you hoped he remembered, you weren’t paying attention.

“hi ponyboy,” you responded, he was really cute and sweet, honestly you had a hallway crush on him for years but you never had the courage to speak to him, you felt lucky when yous were paired up for english.

“i didn’t know you got the bus” he said while looking around.

“yeah my sister couldn’t pick me up today” you sighed

“well for the best, now we can talk about the project!” he said excitedly

“yes, do you know what it’s about? i wasn’t paying attention and dont want to make you do it all” you muttered, you felt really bad for not listening

“yeah well basically we need to analyse this passage,” he pulled out a peice of paper from his bag “then write an essay on it, about your opinions and what an opposing opinion could be and stuff” he said then showed you his notebook with all of his notes from class

“when and where do you want to meet to do it? i can do everyday but thursday” you smiled

“how about friday? we could meet at the DX and.. maybe, after, grab milkshakes at the dingo?” he looked down kinda embarrassed, he was blushing a little as well

“the DX? doesn’t your brother work there? oh he’s a doll, you look very alike” you giggled as you sat back on your seat, his face lit up as you said that

after a while of talking and laughing, it was your stop “oh pony, i need to get off now” you said rather frantically, you were about to miss your stop. You quickly shoved on your bag and Pony started walking down with you

“oh do you get off here?” you asked, you didn’t know he lived round here

“no, but i need to know where to pick you up” he smiled back at you

you giggled as you crossed the road and started walking towards your block.

“so, this is a real pretty neighbourhood” he gawked at the houses. you didn’t think the houses were that nice they were pretty standard, but he seemed really amazed by the houses

“oh, thank you! i’ve lived here all my life, my dad bought it when my second oldest sister was born” you told him

“it’s really beautiful,” he said to you, you smiled softly at him, he really was cute, you couldn’t deny it and he was kind. god your friends would never hear the end of this, never.

“take a photo, it’ll last longer” he laughed, you didn’t realise you had been staring, you looked down awkwardly and laughed a little

“what are we doing on friday then? just going to the DX then going straight to the dingo or are we going to a park or..?” you asked

“i don’t mind, whatever you want darlin’” he looked at you with a smirk, you shoved him lightly, he knew what he was doing. he grabbed your hand and interlocked your fingers with his.

you approached your house slowly and you let go of his hand.

“well i need to go now, do you know how to get home alright from here?” you asked

“yeah my brother is gonna pick me up from the bus stop, down worry about me gorgeous” he said to you and grinned

“well, pick me up here. at 6.” you said as you made your way up onto your porch, you turned around to look at him one more time before he went home

“bye darlin’” he said, before you made your way into the house you shouted for him to be safe on his way home.

Your day wasn’t that bad after all.

Headcanons due to being October/Spooky month: which Pikmin characters believe in ghosts?

Olimar: Totally believes in ghosts, and if he ever winds up dying on the job plans to haunt the daylights out of the company president.

Louie: Doesn't believe in ghosts because if they existed, he'd be super haunted from all the wildlife he's hunted and eaten by now.

Alph: Claims to not believe in ghosts but always leaves little trinkets and packages of fruit snacks around for any helper spirits aboard the Drake.

Brittany: Doesn't believe in ghosts, eats the fruit snacks she keeps finding on the Drake because she doesn't know their significance.

Charlie: Doesn't believe in ghosts, necessarily, but IS superstitious. Gets annoyed when he finds out about Brittany eating the fruit snacks.

Shepherd: Doesn't believe in ghosts, is too busy being scared of monsters - I mean what? Captains aren't scared of anything, ahahah...

Collin: Gets too much weird interference on the comms channel late at night to NOT believe in ghosts.

Russ: Believes in ghosts, but also thinks that most modern methods of ghost hunting are fake sensationalist garbage. Is basically Shane from Buzzfeed Unsolved/Ghost Files yelling at ghosts and demons to come and get him.

Dingo: Claims to not believe in ghosts but is always the first one to freak when the lights cut out unexpectedly. Is basically Ryan from Buzzfeed Unsolved/Ghost Files yelling at Russ to shut up before he gets possessed.

Yonny: Believes in supernatural phenomena that people mistake for ghosts, especially after learning about the Glow pikmin. Uses this to tease Dingo and Collin a lot.

Bernard: Believes in ghosts, but in that superstitious sailor type of way. Has good luck charms and little rituals he does to guarantee safe travels and protections before each flight.

Oatchi: Is a dog. Wonders why no one else seems to notice all the see-through people floating around.

Dingo is sooooo the definition of the fuck it we ball in the frontlines, mainly playing skirmisher weapons. You need the backline to the frontline soooo Yonny fucks around with anchor weapons B) Mainly E-liter but doesnt mind flexing to other anchors like splatlings. Yonny is definitely the brains behind the operation lmaoo being the shotcaller of the two, Dingo hears and goes LMAOO yet Dingo has the habit of going anyways💀 the fighter mindset.

Dingo is definitely a solo grinder whenever Yonny isn’t available, hes a solid player mechanically but tends to struggle in teamplay. So he can make do in soloq for now- Yonny is alot more of the study type outside of games, lots of map n strategy review so his game knowledge is definitely up there. Backlines just overall have that birds eye in game too so hes solid at just planning in game overall, the backline of all time. Though he does carry a more anchor by definition playstyle, playing more on the defensive minimizing risk if possible.

Im a splatoon nerd so i have alot of fun figuring out of the playstyles of the two :3 tho i do wanna make the rest if the coorps as a bigger comp team!!

Misc. Pikmin 4 Thoughts

Heavy spoilers for the entire game ahead.

There's kind of a lot, so I split them into categories.

Character Thoughts

While I still don't consider any individual member of the rescue corps to be particularly deep or interesting, I still hold the opinion that I like them more than the Pikmin 3 Koppaites because at least most of these guys are multi-faceted. I've said before that it's easy to imagine them all around a campfire sharing stories, and that is basically what happens at the end of every day once you've collected the majority of the corps. Most of these snippets are at the very least amusing, and it's cute seeing (er... reading) them interact with each other beyond their current mission.

That said, I did wind up liking Shepherd less than I would have hoped, since she never really escapes her role of basically being Charlie 2.0. I still like her more than Charlie, but I can't in good conscience put her into an "S-tier" on my favorite characters list. She makes the B-tier at best~

Yonny really grew on me once I found him, but he doesn't have many interactions with the other corps that don't amount to him experimenting on them without their consent. I do find him enjoying the horrors of the night to be endearing, but like the other characters, I do wish there was just a *little* more to him, so he still ranks below Shepherd.

Bernard is a funny little guy, but I don't know how seriously we're supposed to take what he says. I know that's the joke, but it makes him just a tad enigmatic, which is a hit or miss character trait for me. What's funniest about him is that there's a castaway that is just absolutely traumatized by him, and it's hilarious.

I hate Dingo. Me and my homies hate Dingo (joking). I dunno, I usually don't find these kinds of asshole types to be that endearing. You have to have a TON of charisma to counterbalance being an asshole, and Dingo just doesn't have it. I did try failing a dandori battle once on an alt save file just to see what he actually does, and it's a little amusing, but not enough to make me really like him.

While I'm on the topic, a lot of these characters are really apologetic about their asshole peers. Almost every rescue corp member asks you to forgive Dingo for being "rough around the edges." I suspect because when push comes to shove, he actually gets sh*t done, so they just put up with it otherwise. Then there's Olimar who despite everything he's witnessed still apologizes for Louie and believes that he's got a "good heart" deep down. I'll just say that most of these characters have a lot more patience than I would have for those guys.

The rest of the corps I'm kinda neutral about. I would have liked Collin more if he didn't stop to wonder about the crashed Dolphin every time I walked even remotely close to it. But besides that, he's kinda just a straight man to everyone else's antics, which is another hit or miss character trait for me. I like him more than not, and I appreciate him being a more mature character than Alph, but he's just kinda the normal guy in a cast of weirdos.

Russ also doesn't bring much to the table by himself since almost all of his dialogue is essentially tutorial text about his gadgets, but hearing about how lavish and doting his family can be is still pretty funny. There's also a castaway that apparently has a crush on him, which is kinda outta nowhere, but it's cute.

The other castaways are just kinda there. There are some funny ones, and it's surprising how many of them have relationships with one another and even to some of the rescue officers, but the most interesting ones to me are the ones that help fill out the world. The Pikmin universe is really expansive, and I wonder if this is set up for Nintento to possibly start taking the Pikmin adventures off of PNF-404 and to some of these new worlds.

Theory Crafting

I find the implications of the Shepherd family diaries to be very interesting. While I think it's pretty clear that in this new continuity, Earth isn't post-apocalyptic (or has already fully recovered from an apocalypse), I think that the diaries imply that at least that family likely originated from Earth, from how they apparently settled on a new planet and stories about Earth (referred to as "the blue planet") has been passed down through the generations. Further, supporting that theory is the fact that her home planet is named "Giya," which is likely a corruption of "Gaia," the personification of the Earth. They may not be direct descendants from humans, but they could be.

It's explicitly stated that Oatchi and Moss are descendants of the Ancient Sirehound, and that the space dog as we know it just got smaller over time. Although the Sirehound is not a "normal" dog by any means, it's still implied that PNF-404 is Earth in the far-flung future, so the evolution of its many species still could have changed significantly.

We know that Shepherd's family took their dogs with them when they migrated, so if dogs had already evolved/been bred to be like the Sirehound by that point, and the aliens started the same size as humans, then it's not a stretch to imagine that they evolved alongside each other and got smaller to adapt to their new environments. After all, large quantities of oxygen are poisonous to all the little aliens, but it's theorized that an abundance of oxygen is what lead to all the giant bugs and animals that existed on early Earth. So if the old Earthlings eventually adapted to not need so much oxygen, then they may have begun shrinking to compensate. Granted, I don't think just 7,000 years (assuming each generation of Shepherd is roughly 70 years) is enough to see changes as big as that, but this is still a science fantasy story, so we can forgive that kind of inaccuracy.

Still, I suppose that wouldn't explain why Moss is small if she was born and raised on PNF-404, unless both sizes of dog existed simultaneously before any kind of migration. The presence of the Sage Leafling implies that either the castaways are NOT the first little aliens to crash on the planet, OR that the little aliens and their dogs already lived on Earth and developed the leaves either naturally or by becoming hosts to the pikmin parasite. It's hard to say either way since the well-spokeness of the Sage Leafling can only imply that they had a strong will like Olimar, not necessarily that they were born that way like Moss.

I'm still trying to figure out what the other planets are named after. While the player's home planet is obviously supposed to be a corruption of the word "carrot" to allude to the pikmin and their resemblance to carrots, the others seem totally random. I did eventually parse that "Ohri" is likely based on "Orion," the constellation, as its people are referred to as "Ohrians," but I'm not sure about the rest. A lot of them might be named after words/places in Japan just like Hocotate and Koppai before them, but with my limited cultural knowledge, it's hard to say.

Random Thoughts

It's interesting to me that now that "wife bad" jokes are considered distasteful, a lot of Olimar's comments on certain treasures have been rewritten to be more positive towards his wife. I don't think it's a bad change, but he went from having some serious marital discourse to having the biggest hard-on I've ever seen. I guess Nintendo decided that they didn't want the main character of what is becoming a flagship franchise for them being borderline misogynistic.

Speaking of retcons, of all the things to change about his character, him going from finding a rubber duck absolutely horrifying to completely enamored with them is certainly a choice.

The ones we know of:

Kero, AKA Yami, now going by Radiance: fan of necro and bestiality. Abused his parents dog. Parents blocked the police investigation. Still on YouTube to this day.

Tane (unsure on his current name): drugged people at cons, filmed and distributed CP. Still seen at furmeets and works behind the scenes at cons by the looks of things.

Patyko Dingo: enjoys bestiality. Doubled down on his pro-abuse stance after the leak. Was dumb enough to go onto kiwi farms and annoy them in his own thread. Still online.

Okay completed the Pikmin 4 demo now. My only casualties were due to that new round enemy that rolls over, crushed two reds as it died despite my desperate whistling. Wondering if I could get in and redo day two for some experimenting, but Pokémon taught me to be paranoid about save files and not keen on redoing the tutorial.

Since I knew Oatchi could carry Pikmin over water in the trailers I foolishly attempted it and had to whistle everyone to safety. Obviously this is only the first area, but I'm surprised by how short the caves are, no boss battles yet either. Very different from Pikmin 2 where even cave two was a five level affair ending in a boss who kills inexperienced players (as the clips on twitter show).

Found the yellow onion right as the day ended, didn't realize even full blown onions had to taken back to base so that was rough. But I did grab yellow Pikmin in the caves, fascinating that they can be introduced before their onion now. And that it might be possible to miss the onion entirely.

Could have probably gotten yellow onion with different priorities or better optimization. Then again to even reach it you need yellow Pikmin from caves. I think the real secret is purposefully not hitting the sparklium cap for the demo.

That lake you need thirty ice Pikmin to freeze is an interesting way of making sure you go get the onion upgrades, since if you don't nab the one out on the field it uses up all of your Pikmin. Though I guess reward is a better word since I got the sparklium I needed while running out of time to do it, so I bet it can be skipped outright.

Also saw what looks to be the first dandori battle, but again ran out of time to reach it. Guessing I needed to freeze the water and find some way up, was too focused on the yellow onion and third base site to examine closely.

Got a notification saying I'd explored 50% of the area, so not too bad. Still thinking up alternate paths going all the way back to day one. The withdrawal is real. I want to get right in and grab the yellow onion and do the Dandori battle and freeze that lake.

I like Russ and the ranger guy, Dingo. Wonder what his gameplay function will be? Guessing night expeditions, could look at direct trailer again to check.

Treasure appraiser guy is probably going to give treasure descriptions, while the florist likely has some Pikmin related function. Though I imagine not every castaway has a direct gameplay function based on how often you seem to find them.

Also didn't post this for the direct trailer, but very happy about the conveyor belts from the 3 DLC missions appearing. I was hoping that'd be a mechanic in the next game.

The Xtacles #2: “Operation: Murderous Conclusions” | November 10, 2008 - 12:15AM | S01E02

The two completed episodes of The Xtacles aired on the same night, sorta billed as a 30 minute “special”. I wonder if a third episode was in any kind of state of near-completion? Honestly, these two episodes of Xtacles are about as strong as any of the best episodes of Sealab or Frisky Dingo, and I would’ve loved more of these. 

In this one, President Stan has wasted billions of tax payer money to build a gigantic stature of himself. When it’s unveiled, he’s disgusted at the sight of a huge hole ripped into his giant bronze ass. He asks the Xtacles to solve this crime. The crime is rape!!!

The Xtacles reason that no human could make a hole that big, so they suspect a Gorilla as the culprit. After searching their files for a mythic “Rape Ape” they find “Rapier Ape”, a dapper primate who dresses in medieval garb and carries a rapier, the fancy sword from Shakespeare times. I guess. I don’t know man, I tend to lump all history before the invention of television together. Abraham Lincoln, Rasputin, Jesus Christ (FAKE), it’s all Shakespeare times to me. Anyway, he’s probably innocent, but they insist on harassing him, because the Xtacles are jerks!

Bad news if you don’t like hearing the word “rape”, both for this episode and this write-up, I guess. This one has a handful of lines that made me laugh out loud. And that’s where the write-up ends, because I'll just lamely quote all the jokes I liked. There were a lot! Like, three!

I never did watch these when they aired, and I’m not sure why. I think it just felt a little less pressing than other Adult Swim shows, given that it was basically an aborted fetus. That, and I was probably too invested in the ending of Moral Orel to care. I recall people whose opinions I trusted saying that this show was funny, and I went in with a cautiously optimistic attitude. Issues of modern sensitivity-related scrutiny aside (and the lack of true HD copies of the show existing), these hold up. And, given that these aired mere days after famous limousine liberal Barack Obama got elected president, stuff like this represents the final vestiges of Bush-era comedy, and should be cherished.

I'm guessing it was made before the Xtacles episodes? I genuinely don't know, but this actually legitimately bridges the gap between Frisky Dingo and The Xtacles, and explains why Mr. Ford is on the Xcalibur!

As for my fav director, it's Satoshi Kon! Perfect Blue was a master piece and it's a shame he died before he got to make more movies. Paprika was also super good.
