Digi Dynamic Shipping Game
Send me two names among the following 12 and I’ll write a short analysis post about them:
Tumblr media
Taichi Yagami | Yamato Ishida | Sora Takenouchi | Koushirou Izumi | Mimi Tachikawa | Jyou Kidou | Takeru Takaishi | Hikari Yagami | Daisuke Motomiya | Miyako Inoue | Iori Hida | Ken Ichijouji | Meiko Mochizuki
Tumblr media
Whether canon provides input on them or not.
If you're a fan of Digimon Adventure in any capacity or at least familiar with the series - regardless of what kind of media we're talking about -, you will stumble across these two. One could say that they're the face of the franchise, the bread and butter of various chunks of the plot, the center of merchandise - and they have been a juggernaut in the fandom since the very beginning, probably only rivaled (or complemented) by the likes of Takari and Koumi (and maybe Daiken, depending on what corners you look at). Whether you're "oldschool" like me and call them "Taito" (or "Yamachi") or part of the more modern fandom, you may prefer to call them Taiyama/Yamatai - you know them. And why wouldn't you with that HUGE focus on their framing?!
Taichi and Yamato are being paralleled and contrasted against each other throughout the course of the entire series: They're the protagonist and his (temporary) rival, different yet similar in various aspects, which causes them to continuously clash with each other. Starting off as the stereotypes of "brash and hotheaded" vs. "reasonably cool", there is an ongoing theme of miscommunication between them throughout the years - and even though their Digimon are usually the first to evolve to every single next stage, it's their conflicts with each other (and reconciliations) that challenge each other's Crest meanings the most. Yamato starts off perceiving Taichi as "too reckless and inconsiderate", challenging his sense of courage and responsibility, whereas Taichi tries to calm Yamato's aggressiveness down, making him question his sense of friendship towards him and the group... They take their time to realize that they have much more in common than they initially thought - and that there are actually a lot of things they admire about the other, things they themselves lack. For example, they're both big brothers of younger siblings, both overprotective for very different reasons - but Yamato feeling incapable of being a good brother to Takeru like Taichi acts towards him at first is one of the reasons why Cherrymon is able to corrupt him temporarily, making him perceive Taichi as someone he needs to challenge and overcome.
But in the end, it's their bond to each other, their trust in the other that usually leads to victory; whether they let their siblings shoot arrows of love at them while they're holding hands to achieve the highest evolution level; whether they wait for the other to join a painful fight, because they know they can rely on each other; whether they get sucked through a computer to reach their partners simultaneously in the net to create the most iconic fusion in the entirety of Digimon; whether they gleefully bicker about how silly some of their fights were in the past, punching each other out of love and nostalgia; whether they start to question their own belief systems as they grow older, partly unable to communicate how much they believe in each other, so there is a lot of brooding and unspoken expectations, frustration and fondness between them; whether they mope about adulthood while being out for dinner and beer... It's the fact that, whenever they come together, putting their arguments aside to fight side by side, they're usually the reason why darkness won't succeed.
Long story short; they may have a contrasting/complementary theme going on most of the time - orange vs. blue, fire vs. ice -, but they do have a lot in common and develop a very close bond that lasts beyond adulthood. There may also be miscommunication between them here and there, but they trust and rely on each other greatly, they want to push each other to be better, a sense of "roughness yet softness" that shall never be underestimated.
Whether I think why and how they’d work.
As much as I can see the potential in everything I have pointed out above, I - personally - have always had a very hard time perceiving them through a romantic lense. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely see and understand the appeal, the trope this kind of ship is based on, the "constantly clashing off of each other, while being also completely ride or die for the other when the situation requires it". And whenever they are on good terms with each other, they are unstoppable - like I said, there is a sense of fondness and softness between them that is very intriguing. My biggest problem with that is that they keep falling back into old habits of miscommunication and that doesn't feel sustainable to me. Whenever you feel like they FINALLY got it, finally got over their differences and accept the other for who they are - there is another conflict (usually, but not exclusively, initiated by Yamato). Again, they're both not very good at using words towards each other (unless the situation is REALLY drastic), so either the harmonica has to do, or their fists...
For example, I like to point out how 02 already felt like some kind of logical honeymoon phase for them to me - and Kizuna kind of tried to pick that up again by showing that they were perfectly compatible going out for dinner without any serious disagreement between them. (Heck, even the Taiorato situation had NEVER been a "conflict" BETWEEN them, they had always been nothing but supportive of each other.)
But Tri was so heavy on making these two fail to communicate (for the sake of having a plot in the first place), that I am just asking myself how they would ever really be able to help each other grow OUTSIDE of world-saving contexts. They both suffer when they're at odds with each other, they don't enjoy it - Taichi always looks like a wounded puppy when Yamato gives him the cold shoulder and Yamato is so stuck in his Tsundere state, while being so unsure of himself, that he tends to be more verbally hurtful than he initially intended. He knows he "expects too much" of Taichi, he knows exactly why Taichi hesitates and has so many doubts - I'm pretty sure Yamato used to have the same doubts previously, I mean, he has punched them out of him before -, but he doesn't have the means to tell him.
My personal impression of Tri!Yamato is that he is so deep in the closet, that his love for Taichi (platonic, romantic, you name it!!!) could just burst out of him any minute now, but he absolutely doesn't know how to deal with that. So part of him rejects it - sometimes it bursts out of him violently, sometimes softly. He even offers Taichi that they can stop using Omegamon, because that would be "easier" for him - which sounds like the biggest "I know I can never have you and you probably don't want me anyway, and that's okay with me, I promise..." in the history of everything ever. And Taichi probably is subconsciously aware of that (somehow, even if he may not be able to fully process it), but isn't really able to act towards that either. (Heck, again, even Sora is aware of Yamato's feelings, but they all don't have the means to say it out loud! Hikari, Koushirou and Jyou hint at it at various points in Tri and the stageplay too, but it is never explicitly said...)
So in a sense, they feel like they're star-crossed lovers who aren't meant to be due to how they never find a way to actually cross the line. Like I said, Kizuna tries to show them being compatible - and it is true, they are close, but you get a feeling that there is always THAT ONE thing they cannot say. Taichi tries - but gets interrupted by SOMETHING or simply shies back. Yamato wants to - but gets unintentionally loud again and then the moment is over. They're both depressed to some degree by the time of Kizuna and both use the "Digimon duty" as escapism, as well as the moping-meet-ups to at least get out some steam. However, they are not able to pull each other out of that slump, they can't save each other unless they have to save the world as "Omegamon's enablers", because they're in too deep already...
Tumblr media
Maybe in a Post-Beginning scenario where things are not at stake anymore, where they're reunited with their partners and back on track with their life paths, they could get another chance. Going on adventurous trips, playfully bickering again while everyone else shakes their heads at them like "Look at that old married couple again...", having fun, enjoying life. But if they just stay by themselves like that, kinda disconnected from the group and their true selves, it would feel more like "dysfunctional wound-licking" to me, with way too much pent-up frustration. And that is sad when you see all that love and ALL THAT potential...
Whether I’d prefer them as platonic or romantic ship.
I feel like I could have gone on about how they may play out, but in the end, while I can see all the potential outlined, I do prefer them to be platonic. It does feel like a tragic love story - and even if it kinda sounded like it, it isn't one-sided on Yamato's behalf either, there are mutual feelings involved, they just really have a tough time getting over their barriers and that's why I personally can't see them solving problems if they were in a long-term relationship. As mutually supportive friends who tend to have small arguments but reconcile eventually, always having each other's backs? HECK YEAH! I love the Yamataishirou friend group as well the, unfortunately, never fully explored Yamataikoura friend group and I love scenarios in which they tease each other about their crushes to others, but tl;dr: I prefer them to be platonic!

My calendar told me that it's been a year since I finished my first play of Digimon Survive so because I'm a nostalgic busy idiot, let me compile all the stuff I've drawn of Miyuki the Minase siblings (because it's the only thing I've done for Survive to far ;w;)
I'm sorry I'm so busy being overly emotional about this game to the point that I barely draw stuff orz and sorry not sorry that I felt in love with the Minase siblings uwu

Midnight train going anywhere
@strikerofdeath0 I tried! :D
-----
The fire was crackling. Kouichi put an apple on a stick and held it over the fire. Takuya was talking about a football game he’d take part in the next weekend. Kouji filled a pot with water, looked at them. This was so peaceful compared to how it had been in the digital world and he wished Izumi, Junpei and Tomoki could have come along as well. Maybe next time. There would be other weekends and they had only known each others for a month.
It felt like a year with everything that had happened in those 15 minutes they’d been away. Kouji’s grip around the pot tightened. He looked at Kouichi. The twin he hadn’t know, had fought, had almost murdered.
Had lost. Twice.
Kouichi looked at him and gave him an uncertain smile. Kouji sighed. Looked at Takuya instead. Takuya, who was an absolute idiot. Who wouldn’t move out of danger when it came his way. Who had almost gotten killed by Kouichi while he was under Cherubimon’s influence.
Kouji shuddered. The pot almost slid out of his fingers. Duskmon’s blade against his back had been so painful. It had taken him days (seconds?) to recover. He had woken up alone in darkness. Takuya was gone and Ophanimon had let him know the others had been taken.
Kouji’s breath hitched. He hadn’t been able to stop thinking about it. He wasn’t angry. Nor disappointed. He was used to having to take care of everything on his own. Of being alone. It hadn’t hurt him at all that Takuya promised they’d stick together just to leave him.
Kouji was very good at lying to himself.
Takuya looked at him, raised an eyebrow. Laughed. He was such an idiot. Kouji rolled his eyes and stepped up to the fire, hung the pot over it. He wasn’t sure if he wanted to sit on Kouichi’s or Takuya’s side of the fire, so he sat down between them. Takuya moved away ever so slightly. Kouji leaned back, put his hands against the ground and looked towards the sky, at the branches hanging above them. The night would be cold, free of rain. The sky was clear, the moon already crawling towards the horizon. The first bright stars were already appearing.
The regular sky still felt foreign. Kouji missed the three moons constantly hanging over their heads. Constellations he’d never see again and the stories Bokomon told about them that he’d never hear. He should have listened more, asked questions. Shouldn’t have isolated himself as he did. But he hadn’t known how and when he had finally learnt the world was ending and they were too stressed to listen to tales of the past, too busy worrying about the future.
Kouichi took the apple away from the fire and bit it. Fanned himself with his hand.
”Hot”, he complained.
”What did you think? That the fire was cold?” Takuya asked with a laugh.
Kouji smiled, but felt the smile falter just as quickly. Kouichi laughed and threw a handful of dirt across the fire at Takuya.
”Not to burn my mouth off, obviously”, Kouichi said.
Kouji sat up straighter, pulled his knees up and leaned against them instead. Stared into the fire.
”Where did you go?” he asked.
Both stared at him. Kouji didn’t look at them. They hadn’t talked about it. There hadn’t been time, it had been forgiven and forgotten. Takuya left but he came back and he saved them all and everything was forgiven. Forgotten. The pain gone. Hidden.
”After the attack”, Kouji explained, ”where did you go? I’ve been wondering.”
He wondered if the others had wondered as well. If anyone beside him had wanted to ask. Or if they didn’t care because they hadn’t been the one wrapped in Takuya’s warmth one second and on the cold hard ground the next. They hadn’t heard Takuya’s steps as he walked away. They had already been taken. By Duskmon or a hidden Mercurymon Kouji had never figured out, but they had been gone when the darkness cleared.
Takuya frowned. Kouji glanced at him from the corner of his eyes. Kouichi looked between the both of them. How much did Kouichi remember of that? They hadn’t talked much about the digital world, still just trying to get to know each other. Kouji feared Kouichi didn’t remember it at all, but he didn’t dare ask.
How would that sound? If Kouichi actually didn’t remember it, would Kouji sound insane? Would he get locked up, diagnosed with psychosis? He was a little scared of that possibility. So why was he suddenly talking about it here?
With the fire and the stars and the sky and the apples and everything that reminded him so much about those nights? They had been some of the best nights of his life. Maybe now was the only time he could have talked about it.
”What attack?” Takuya asked.
Kouji looked at him. Tilted his head. If Takuya didn’t remember, how could he explain?
”The…” He nodded towards Kouichi. ”The attack.”
”Oh.”
Takuya looked at his hands. Kouji looked at Takuya. At the way his chest rose and fell with his breaths. The nervous twitch of his fingers.
”The attack”, Takuya whispered.
The night suddenly felt colder. Kouji regretted asking. Kouichi still seemed confused. He took another bite of his apple. A shiver ran down Kouji’s back.
”Home”, Takuya whispered.
His voice sounded fragile. Like he didn’t want to admit it, say the words out loud. Kouji’s ears latched on to every sound that left Takuya. The shuffle as he twisted uncomfortable when faced with the memory. His clothes rustling in the wind. His breath picking up every so slightly.
”I went home”, Takuya admitted. ”Back to the human world.”
Home. The word tasted so different after the digital world. One month back and Kouji still didn’t feel quite like he was home. Home wasn’t the same. It wasn’t a place any longer. It was a world and he didn’t have access to it. Takuya probably felt the same from what Kouji could tell. From the way Takuya needed to explain that he meant the human world. This world. Their home.
Kouichi looked at the ground, the apple lowered towards it as well. Takuya’s hands shook. Kouji gripped his sleeves. He really shouldn’t have asked.
”It was… weird”, Takuya said.
His voice was low. Just barely above a whisper. A slight quiver to it. Kouji vowed to never let the others know. Takuya looked at his hands, held them infront of his face before letting them fall onto his lap.
”My memories of it are muddled”, Takuya admitted a little louder. ”Two-fold. Both from me and from… whatever I was when I came back.”
He looked at Kouichi and Kouichi smiled nervously. Takuya looked away again.
”Duskmon was there too. Or a ghostly memory of him.”
Kouichi looked away. Looked at Kouji and looked away again. Kouji wrapped his arms around his legs. Would this break whatever fragile thing they had built up between them?
”Duskmon wasn’t…”, Kouichi started. ”...I wasn’t. I was…”
He looked at his hand, frowned. Takuya’s cry as he held Kouji echoed silently between the three of them, Kouji could see it reflected in their faces and wondered if it was just as clear on his own.
”I had to… refind my resolve”, Kouichi whispered. ”My goals. Clear my mind.”
Takuya took a shaky breath. Kouji hugged his legs tighter.
”Me too”, Takuya whispered. ”I was… it was terrifying. Duskmon… all I could think about was how strong he was, how close I had been to death.”
He hugged his hands. Kouji wanted to be angry. He had been the one to take Duskmon’s attack, had been the one hurt. But the anger didn’t come. It couldn’t. He had felt the same fear after he caught Duskmon’s earlier attack. But his resolve to protect these idiots that had befriended him never faltered.
”I… tried to get myself to stay. Not board the train.”
Kouji’s heart hurt. Skipped a beat. Takuya’s resolve had been weak, and yet he had been the strongest of them. Why? It wasn’t fair. Kouji shook his head. He sounded like a child. The world isn’t fair. Takuya was right to fear for his life, to fear Duskmon. Pain danced across Kouji’s back, ghostly memories of the attack. Takuya laughed. Insecure, unstable, shivering.
”It seems silly now. Who in their right mind would be scared of Kouichi?” he asked.
Kouichi shook his head. Takuya put his head in his hands. His shoulders shook.
”But I was… so scared”, he mumbled into his hands.
As if he was afraid to admit it. Ashamed. Kouji didn’t know what to say, didn’t have any words of support.
”But you returned”, Kouichi said.
He remembered, Kouji realized. Kouichi remembered everything from the digital world. Every single thing he had been through and had seen.
”I went home”, Takuya said.
His voice was more stable, didn’t sound like it was on the verge of breaking.
”To the digital world. To the people that believed in me even when I doubted myself.”
He looked at the fire, hands in his lap.
”Everything had changed and nothing would ever be the same, so I pushed myself towards the train and I went home.”
Kouji felt anger somewhere in the pits of his stomach. Deep down where it would stay. He clenched his hands. Takuya left him, went home. Where he had been safe, hunted only by his own fear, while Kouji had been forced to hunt his fear despite his injuries. Life… wasn’t fair.
”You… went home”, he said.
His back hurt. He clenched his hands harder, tried to hide the way they trembled. Kouichi looked at him.
”Kouji?”
Kouji wanted to stand up. Walk away. Run. He swallowed, forced a smile towards Takuya. He hoped it didn’t look venomous.
”Thanks for telling me. I’m glad you came back.”
He reached towards Kouichi, snatched the apple. The water in the pot started to boil.
”What happened while I was gone?” Takuya asked.
Kouji swallowed. There really wasn’t anything to say on that.
”You already know”, he said.
Kouichi stood up, took the pot off the fire and fetched their cups and some teabags from the tent. Kouji filled his cup up, wrapped his fingers around it and held it against his chest.
”The others got taken and I went to find them. Got my butt kicked.” Again. ”And then you saved the day. We all lived happily ever after. The end.”
He didn’t want to think about how painful every step had been. How his lungs hadn’t been able to fill up with air. The irregular beating of his heart. It wasn’t Takuya’s fault. It wasn’t Takuya’s fault that they were both idiots. Kouichi sat down next to Kouji, filled his own cup with water. Looked at the fire.
”...I’m sorry”, he said. ”I cause you both so much pain.”
”It wasn’t you”, Takuya said.
”It’s not your fault”, Kouji corrected. ”Cherubimon… No, Lucemon screwed us all over. He was probably the one that corrupted Cherubimon and start off the whole war.”
Takuya shrugged and grabbed the pot, made his own cup of tea.
”We’re all fine now. There’s nothing to apologise about.”
Yeah, Kouji thought, no one owes anyone an apology.
He glanced at Takuya before turning to the fire. Sipped on his tea and took a bite out of Kouichi’s apple. Kouichi laughed and stole it back. Kouji let him, looked into his tea. The fire crackled infront of him and the cold of the night started seeping in over the camp site. Kouichi moved closer to Kouji, their shoulders almost touching.
”So… when’s your game?” Kouichi asked Takuya.
His voices wavered, but Takuya accepted the excuse to leave the conversation. Kouji was grateful as well, he hadn’t known how to move on, break it up. Takuya started talking about the game and Kouji looked at the sky. This was home, he realized. Not the digital world, not the human world. Just… whatever this was. He took another sip of his tea. The moon disappeared behind the horizon and the night was well and truly over them.

Digi Dynamic Shipping Game
Send me two names among the following 12 13 and I’ll write a short analysis post about them:
Tumblr media
Taichi Yagami | Yamato Ishida | Sora Takenouchi | Koushirou Izumi | Mimi Tachikawa | Jyou Kidou | Takeru Takaishi | Hikari Yagami | Daisuke Motomiya | Miyako Inoue | Iori Hida | Ken Ichijouji | Meiko Mochizuki
Tumblr media
Whether canon provides input on them or not:
When looking at Meiko's interaction partners in Tri, Koushirou is proooobably not the first person who comes to mind; after Jyou, he may share the least amount of screen time with her. And at pure face value, the interactions he does have with her are mostly indirect - and at first glance, not painted in the best light either. They have that kind of dynamic you definitely have to speculate about more to get to the bottom of it - and interestingly enough, once you do, you may discover that they actually have a few things in common. But we'll get to that.
First things first - as mentioned, they mostly are not seen talking to each other, but rather have a third party person to talk through: Mimi. From a shipping perspective, that is both, an interesting parallel and, at the same time, incredibly complicated. Why? On one hand, because you can see/interpret both Koushirou and Meiko as potential love interests for Mimi (with one of them canonically crushing on her and the other OBVIOUSLY opening up through her encouragement, care and emotional/physical affection). On the other hand... Things do not really get very far in text.
Their main interaction point throughout the first few movies consists of Koushirou trying to figure out what causes the distortions corrupting the Digimon - and by doing so, he ends up interrogating Meiko in a very uncomfortable and unfortunate moment, that causes Mimi to snap at him. She says that he's being insensitive, he says they don't have time to focus on "trivial things", completely overlooking her emotional distress in order to fix things as quickly as possible. As mentioned, not the best foundation for any kind of relationship, as Meiko is completely overwhelmed with her partner being corrupted - while Koushirou is desperately trying to stop the cause from spreading even further. And she is aware of his good intentions there - because Taichi explains to her that Koushirou means to investigate the whole thing "with his entire heart" and that that's "all he can do", indirectly asking her to not be mad at him for being "like that". This even leads to her contemplating to apologize to him. Mimi insists that she doesn't have to - and we actually never see the end of that conflict, just the glimpse of hope that Sora's words, "He'll figure it out", will eventually lead to good things...
The next notable interaction is by the very end of Tri - as seen above -, where he entrusts her with his beloved laptop to find out the key to locked-away data, a password only she is capable of knowing, to eventually and actually fix everything in the end.
So what does that tell the viewer? They may not have a lot of significant interpersonal interaction - but subtext indicates that Koushirou strongly believes in Meiko being able to be the key, to find the answers to their problems. He did so by interrogating her, he did so by handing her his laptop - and that is a very familiar pattern.
Not trying to go too much into detail here, but one of my personal favourite headcanons is that, Meiko is what Koushirou COULD have become if he hadn't been as lucky as he was; to be raised by loving parents and getting validated by them upon reconciling; to befriend seven (and eventual eleven) kids and their personal soulmates to figure himself out, friends that ALSO believed in him and his strengths; to be enabled by his best friend to come to Summer camp and come out of his shell in the first place - and to solve a card riddle that would solve a very significant issue. Meiko is incredibly insecure, she had been on her own for a very long time, her low self-esteem goes so far as to have her ask why she was even there in the first place - she visibly needs someone loud and vocal like Mimi to show her how capable she is, just like Koushirou needed Taichi and Tentomon in the same manner. And this may be a huge stretch, because other characters (such as Taichi, Mimi, Sora, Hikari and Takeru) have been WAY more direct and vocal about encouraging her verbally - but Koushirou (who absolutely CAN suffer from severe self-esteem issues as well once he doesn't consider himself "useful") may have passed his own personal torch here in a more subtle, non-verbal way.
Long story short - there is not exactly nothing, but y'all have a lot of guessing work and subtext interpretation to do here.
Whether I think why and how they’d work:
As mentioned above, there are some very subtle similarities that may or may not help them to bond with each other. First of all, it shall not be underestimated that they both have a significant connection with each Mimi and Taichi - and especially the former case may be very enthusiastic to MAKE them spend more time with each other. (Abridged!Mimi may even go so far as to say "I'll make my two nerds have a good time, ha!") I really do believe that Mimi herself could be a great starting point AND topic for them to bond over. "She really is like that, isn't she?", in a gentle, lighthearted way. Because they may have issues opening up fully for some time, due to their bad experiences with interpersonal interaction - but I would argue that they're both also the type that just has to get over that point with each other ONCE and then don't have any issues afterwards anymore. They just need a "starting point". Taichi may actually be a good starting point as well, because both of them may have anecdotes (and their mentioned similarities) to share with each other fondly. Again, there are a lot of self-worth issues they need to overcome first, but once they do, I could imagine them being very soft (and potentially rambly).
(I also have the headcanon that Koushirou likes cats - not only should he have grown up interacting with Hikari and Miko a lot, but his own partner, supposedly a ladybug, has very cat-like tendencies and THAT absolutely should be a bonding topic too!)
Whether I’d prefer them as platonic or romantic ship:
I may argue that, romantically, they MIGHT actually both be not straight-forward enough to get anywhere for a long time and due to the lack of canon interactions, I can only work off the formerly mentioned headcanons... So it may take Mimi and an OT3 setting for things to work out properly. Because hey, with Mimi being the driving force connecting and intertwining them, things could escalate very quickly (because, as mentioned, they're both enchanted by her and have panicked over her being physical with them, they share that fondness for her, so why not channel that energy into a mutual bond as well? And again, the same could apply to Taichi too, because he brought BOTH of them out of their shell to some degree and was VERY protective of them at some point, but I digress). Without that driving force, I'd rather see them as platonic. They're both very supportive (and nerdy) people in their own ways, but nothing too deep on the romantic end.

More Digimon Tinfoil Hat Theory Time
Remember a while back when I speculated that Kiyoshiro’s father may be Ryoma Mogami from Digimon Hunters? Well after I came up with that crazy theory I asked myself- who would Kiyoshiro’s mother be in this scenario? At first, I was just thinking some random girl the audience had never seen before, but then I remembered Mizuki.
Think about it, she and Kiyoshiro both have blue eyes (granted, they’re different shades of blue, but still), and Mizuki is associated with aquatic Digimon like Kiyoshiro is.
Of course, Ryoma and Mizuki never interacted like at all, so for them to be a couple would be pretty weird, but they don’t neccessarily need to have a serious romantic relationship. Since Xros Wars and Hunters seems to set in the early new 10s or the late 2000s, and this “Ryoma is Kiyoshiro’s father” theory came from me hoping that Ghost Game will immediately lead into a “Digimon Next Gen” story where Hiro and his team meet up with the children of the previous heroes (which means this hypothetical next gen series probably would take place no more than several years after the 02 epilogue which was set in either 2027 or 2028, meaning that “Digimon Next Gen” would take no later than 2033), the timeline seems to add up to Kiyoshiro being the product of a college tryst (that may or may not have involved alcohol or being trapped in an underwater cave where they were running low on oxygen).

a headcannon for my fave GG divorced couple
Hiro is the one who have feeling for kiyo, while Kiyo don’t. Hiro will pretty much have crushes on anybody that he feels cares about him. However with Hiro being so repressed and a yes man. Kiyo will be upfront to Hiro that he don’t feel the same and just want to be friends. So if anything its a onesided thing for the most part. It just all depends on Hiro getting better mentally and stand up for him self.

Problematic tropes: Human and sapient feral (eg Ilia/Wolf Link).
Mild apologies to anyone who has this pop up in their followed fandom tag; it's not very content-ful on its own.
I highly encourage people to ask me more about anything mentioned here. I'm a big fan of ships across anatomies.
1. Any of my ships that fit it
Hoo boy. Uh, let's see...
Toothless, Stormfly, Light Fury x Hiccup, Astrid, in any combination
Imp Midna x Wolf Link wait you specified "human, nevermind"
Serperior, Salazzle, Sylveon, Leafeon, Milotic x Trainer
do ponies count? cuz uh wew lad do I have selfships there
Lady Nora x Trace Legacy
William x Vanille; Princess Selene x Azurel Dracolis (nonsexual, because they like Selene to survive). Dzamie isn't human otherwise there'd be a bunch more
2. General Opinion
I like it a lot! Playing with different body types is fun~ The only reason it isn't my absolute favorite is because it specifies humans, rather than humans and anthros :P
3. Any ships that aren’t canon it But I’d read w/ the trope
Takato x Guilmon; Charizard, Flygon, Goodra, Garchomp x Trainer (these mons are arguably anthro but could be nice on all fours); Marinette, Ladybug x Chat Noir; Madeline x Badeline (if I could find a good feral for Baddy); Spyro x Elora
...man, panther!Chat Noir is a banger idea, honestly. A shame feral!Ladybug doesn't work so well.

Hi, i'm a newish bl drama watcher from thailand that just started watching thai bls. i'm a bit ashamed to say that for a long time as a gay man living here i've been avoiding bl shows like the plague cuz of both the fandom reputation and of misconception from my yaoi era which i leave far behind. i'm just want to ask how did you got into watching thai bls and what were you preconception before you got into it.
Welcome to the Tumblr side of BL fandom. I'd actually like to also hear more of your experience with yaoi and BL as a gay person growing up in Thailand if you're willing to share.
For me, I'm a Black American from the Gulf Coast (the South). I grew up in a Catholic city and spent my entire adolescence in the closet. Despite having a sense of who I was as early as 8 years old, I kept most of that to myself. Because I didn't talk about it much with people, I found out most information about queer media and queerness from the internet.
Tumblr media
I entered BL via queer cinema. I think the first explicitly gay character that I remember from TV was Marco from Degrassi: The Next Generation. There were probably others, and definitely more subtle expressions, but when I think about the oldest gay character I remember and connect to, it's Marco. I don't like counting things like shipping Shawn and Corey on Boy Meets World or Tai and Matt on Digimon for oldest gay characters. Sailor Moon can't even count because we got a censored version of it in America.
Tumblr media
I got access to satellite television away from observing eyes around age 16 and started watching content on Logo back when they aired gay content regularly. I watched basically whatever I could late at night. It's how I saw movies like Get Real (1998), Beautiful Thing (1996), and Bent (1997). It's also how I saw Queer as Folk (2000-2005) Noah's Arc (2005-06).
Tumblr media
After hitting adulthood I mostly got lost in video games and standard American TV for a while, but I did basically show up to any Gay Event in TV. I appreciate that Stef and Lena from The Fosters (2013-2018) were some of the only TV lesbians to survive the horror of 2016.
Tumblr media
I watched a bunch of movies in this time, many of which appear on the Queer Cinema Syllabus I made for a hypothetical Westerner new to BL and queer cinema, which @wen-kexing-apologist has decided to try to complete.
Tumblr media
I got into Thai BL in 2018 accidentally. I started seeing gifsets of Kongpob telling Arthit he'll make him his wife passing around Tumblr and was basically like, "Right, what's all this then?"
Tumblr media
I had watched a few Thai gay films, mostly notably Love of Siam (2007), Bangkok Love Story (2007), How to Win at Checkers Every Time (2015), and The Blue Hour (2015), but this was the first time I was seeing a long series made available so easily from any Asian country.
Tumblr media
From there I got into Make It Right (2016-17) and Love Sick the series (2014). Once I realized that yaoi had moved beyond manga and a few anime adaptations, I went looking for a lot more. I basically haven't left since I started in about 2016 with SOTUS.
There's my basic entry into the genre. I don't think I was as worried about fandom and worries at the time because so much of being a fan of queer cinema was a mostly-private experience for me for so long. I didn't realize that BL fans active in the space would predominantly be women or queers figuring themselves out. It took a while to adjust to that, and also to adjust my expectations of the kinds of queer stories BL distributors were willing to fund.
Tumblr media
That being said, I tend to agree with @absolutebl that BL has a useful role in normalization for non-queer audiences who encounter it. I like cheering BL when it does things I think work really well, and also deriding it when I think it does things that are offensive to help nudge the genre and offer my perspective as a gay man.
Tumblr media
I like the place we're at right now where there's way too much to watch for any person with other hobbies and responsibilities because it means that people can pick and choose what's to their tastes.
Tumblr media
More often than not, I'm probably most-invested in something airing from Japan because of my melancholy nature, but there's so much variety these days that it's okay if you don't like everything. I certainly don't!
I'm glad you joined us on Tumblr and look forward to your thoughts!
