thinking about deaf west spring awakening so here’s how i’d do a deaf version of be more chill
jeremy, michael and christine are deaf, all three of them sign
brooke is a CODA and knows sign language fluently, but she is hearing
jake does not know sign language at the beginning of the show, but you see him learn a little bit of it for christine as a way of showing him actually putting effort into his relationship with her
chloe can barely sign but knows some basic words from brooke
jenna cannot sign at all but is HOH and can read lips
rich is hearing and unable to sign UNTIL he syncs with jeremy squip, then he is suddenly fluent
mr. heere is hearing and is learning to sign for jeremy, this is part of why there’s a disconnect between the two of them
jeremy, michael, and christine have counterpart actors who act as their “voices”
jeremy’s “voice” is with him until the squip enters, then his “voice” is replaced by the squip until voices in my head
christine’s “voice” is with her the whole show EXCEPT for the guy that i’d kinda be into reprise and when she’s squipped in the play. so you actually see christine’s squip onstage because it replaces her “voice”
michael has a “voice” for everything except michael in the bathroom, which is only signed with backing music

🔈 Dirk Dragon’s Lair :-]
[Oh boy, prepare for three of the most random, uncorrelating, and worst answers I could possibly give]
Okay, to start, I did make a spotify playlist for love songs I liked. As you may see, Dirk and Daphne are the header for it, but it's not just remotely based on them. The songs I would base on their relationship though would likely be "Cloud 9" by Beach Bunny, and "Line Without a Hook" by Ricky Montgomery.
But of course, that's not really descriptive on just the character, himself.
I don't really listen to medieval central music, which sort of screws the answer up. But, say in an alternate situation you want angst that correlates with the fact that his main trait is that he dies over and over again.
I remembered a vocaloid song I listened to years ago, that now reminds me of a section of 25 cents I wrote centered around Dragon's Lair\Also correlates to some of the enemies seen in the game(???) (Semi disturbing)
And finally, for the closest songs that embodies a headcanon of the character's internal struggles\anxieties, maybe I would go with Lima Bean Man by Jack Stauber (Disturbing)

it feels like due to the time of the revival's release (2016) and the inclusion of artists who already had some kind of fandom around themselves, falsettos got what i can only describe as a hyper-tumblr fandom treatment that may work for something like be more chill or heathers or mean girls but really does not work when there is such a serious and real subject at the core of the story.
oh absolutely, it’s so unfortunate that the falsettos fandom is on the same level as the sort of “cringe” musical theatre fandoms ppl make fun of like hamilton + the shows u mentioned and then the show itself is actually this beautiful and profound story about self-acceptance and love and the devastation of the aids crisis. now we have fourteen year olds trying to use the same meme format for falsettos they use for bmc or deh and it’s just terribly tone deaf.

5. What techniques do you use to create believable dialogue?
I don't know who said not to include stuttering in their dialogue because the simple fact of the matter is that humans trip over their words all the time. Especially when they're caught off guard or frustrated.
Tumblr media
—Left 2 Chill // Chapter 26
Like I'm sure they meant "w-w-when a c-character talks l-like this" in casual situations (ie not shivering/overwhelmed) but doesn't have like, A "Real"(?) Stutter (ie Bill from IT), but like... humans say um, and like, and take pauses to think over their words, and say things like "how do I phrase this."
Tumblr media
—Left 2 Chill // Chapter 4
We bail out on sentences partway through because we realize we wanna say something else.
Tumblr media
Humans don't know how to talk!! Maybe they'll phrase something in a way that isn't technically grammatically correct, but feels smoother to say. ("Weird's not" instead of "weird isn't")
Tumblr media
We elongate words
Tumblr media
—What a Waste (of a Lovely Night)
We (sometimes) drop the g in -ing words. We speak in a series of small sentences instead of stringing them into one, either for emphasis or because we realize that we have more to say.
Tumblr media
We interrupt ourselves to give further context
Tumblr media
—Left 2 Chill // Chapter 4
Be serious. Do you actually say "wouldn't have" as two separate words in casual conversation, or do you slur it into "wouldn't've" because that's smoother than taking that slight pause between "wouldn't" and "have?" We'll more often say "dunno" or "wanna" instead of "don't know" or "want to," because we're lazy and just wanna (ha) get the words out. Unless we really want to emphasize that we "do not want to do this." Things like that ya know? Just like. Write the words as we actually say them and not how they're "meant" to be said.
22. What role does humor play in your writing? Do you enjoy adding comedic elements to your fics?
Sometimes it serves as a break from angst and tension so that things don't get stale. (See, the reason ppl think the original Teen Titans cartoon was more serious than it was was BECAUSE of all the comedy to make the more serious moments hit harder.) The first (non prologue) chapter of L2C starts very.. almost parody-ish? Where characters are very self aware of "wow zombie apocalypse, who would've thought" before suckerpunching you with character death in Chapter 3 to remind you that "yeah this isn't gonna be fun."
But without graffiti spread about locations and characters messing around with each other and contributing to The Human Condition, the dreariness and misery gets old and you need some kind of respite.
Tumblr media
—Left 2 Chill // Chapter 26
Other times it's to show/strengthen the relationship between characters. This particular ✨️flashback✨️ also serves to emphasize that Jeremy 1. hasn't been the same since before Michael kicked it, and 2. really isn't trying to bond with his team in the way he did with Michael.
Tumblr media
—Left 2 Chill // Chapter 26
With Jake in particular, a common catalyst for humor for me, it shows how he uses humor both to distract from the horrors that come with living in the apocalypse and to seek out approval from those around him. I mean, what better way to get someone to like you than to make them laugh?
Tumblr media
—Left 2 Chill // Chapter 17
(Note: the braille remark was made by Jared, but like the drinking joke, the "error" of associating braille with Deaf people and drinking with pregnancy shows that the person making the joke that has to know that what they're saying isn't accurate or absolutely is not advice that should be followed. Jake isn't actually dumb. You have to know the correct answers on a test in order to get every single true/false question wrong. Hi spiderverse reference.)
So short answer. Love incorporating humor for a multitude of reasons.
27. What two (or more) fandoms would you like to see a crossover for? Would you ever write it?
I mean there are about a million different BMC/DEH crossovers under the sun, and I'm a firm believer in Heathers taking place on the same timeline (1989 vs. 2010s, putting Heathers teens in their 40s). And I've already made the L4D au that consumed my mind in the infancy of the pandemic, sooo...
I don't know!! I don't really know what other characters I want to have meet each other. (Sure the L2C crew didn't meet any Survivors from the source material, but they sure as hell met their specific brand of Infected.)

Background: Fundy is a character difficult to forget since he is the only anthropomorphic fox of the land and he is the son of Wilbur (the destroyer of L’Manberg) and a fish called Sally(this seems REALLY questionable). A creative child at heart Funny has built a LOT of structures and helped to build many others. He has also covered different roles over the years and the various governments; Among these: Secretary of state, Archbishop, Daemon hunter, Spy, Officer, Butcher and even a Maid… He is very mischievous, still, his age is a mystery so he could be hundred of years old like his adoptive grandfather, Phylza. Because of this it might be that he is just too young and still need time to develop a more adult behavior. Despite this he is smart and longs for attention, something that it wasn’t given to him by some that he followed (like Tubbo), or not given enough by others (Phylza?) and tricked into doing their biddings (Schlatt, BBH). Fundy also has some powers related to dreams and seems to have no control on how deep he can go or  with what he interacts inside said dreams/nightmares. Some of these proved prophetic as he abandoned his old life and joined Quackity in Las Nevadas. After Wilbur’s return, Fundy had a confrontation with him and accusing him not being a good fatherly figure he jumped off a bridge losing his second canon life. One night a dream became even more realistic than ever. Fundy saw terrifying figures hunting him down: the Dreamons. As he woke up, the lights of Las Nevadas welcomed him and he took a night stroll to relieve the tension. He reached the border of the city and took a moment of respite. He looked at the sky, thinking what to do next and his last meeting with Wilbur. “So you have no mastery over your dreamscape, yes? I can help.” Fundy jolted searching for the voice.”He has already accepted.” Fundy heart stopped: who accepted? Whoever accepted this was in danger. And so he chased the voice in the dark only to see the world change. “Come find me, and I will make your wish come true.” Said the voice. Fundy looked around the new “alien” world and immediately jumped to the adventure.

Can Hedgehogs See In The Dark?
Know about the eyesight of hedgehogs if they can see in the dark or not
Can Hedgehogs See In The Dark?
Hedgehogs are nocturnal animals, meaning they are most active at night. So, can hedgehogs see in the dark?
Hedgehogs have poor eyesight overall, but they can see in low-light conditions better than we can. Their eyes are specially adapted to help them see at night.
Tumblr media
Hedgehogs also have good hearing and a keen sense of smell, which help them find food and avoid predators in the dark. Hedgehogs are nocturnal animals that are active at night and sleep during the day. This means that they have to be able to see in the dark. But how do they do this?
Hedgehogs have excellent night vision. Their eyes are large and sensitive to light, which helps them see in low-light conditions. They also have a reflective layer in their eyes called the tapetum lucidum, which allows them to see even better in the dark.
So, yes, hedgehogs can see in the dark! This is helpful for them because it allows them to avoid predators and find food at night.
How Do They Catch Food, Then?
Tumblr media
Hedgehogs are small, spiny mammals in Europe, Asia, and Africa. They have a diet that consists primarily of insects, but they will also eat small mammals, reptiles, and amphibians. Hedgehogs use their sense of smell to find food and will spend most of their time foraging for food.
When a hedgehog finds food, it will use its sharp teeth to catch and kill the prey. Hedgehogs have powerful jaws that can crush hard shells. Once the game is dead, the hedgehog will then use its tongue to lick up the juices and flesh. Hedgehogs are small, spiny mammals in Europe, Asia, and Africa. They have short snouts, small eyes, and small ears. Hedgehogs are nocturnal animals and spend most of their day sleeping in their nests. At night, they come out to forage for food.
Hedgehogs use their sense of smell to find food. They also use their long, sharp claws to dig through the leaf litter and soil to find insects, grubs, and other small creatures to eat. Once they find their prey, they use their sharp teeth to kill it and eat it whole.
Do Hedgehogs Have Good Eyesight?
Hedgehogs are nocturnal animals, so their eyesight is geared more toward night vision than daytime viewing. However, that doesn't mean hedgehogs can't see during the day. Hedgehogs have good eyes overall.
While hedgehogs don't have 20/20 vision, they can see objects clearly and have excellent depth perception. Additionally, hedgehogs' eyes are susceptible to movement. This helps them avoid predators and find food more efficiently.
So, while hedgehogs may not have perfect vision, their eyesight is good enough to help them get by in the wild!
What Colors Can Hedgehogs See?
Hedgehogs are monochromatic, meaning they can only see in black and white. However, research has shown that they may be able to see a limited amount of colour. A study published in BMC Research Notes found that hedgehogs could distinguish between blue, yellow, and green light.
While hedgehogs may not be able to see a wide range of colours like humans do, they make up for it in other ways. They have excellent night vision and can see very well in low-light conditions. Hedgehogs also have a keen sense of smell which they use to find food and mates.
Hedgehogs are small, spiny mammals that are closely related to shrews. They are found in Europe, Africa, and Asia. Hedgehogs have poor eyesight but make up for it with their keen sense of smell and hearing.
Hedgehogs are born blind and deaf. Their eyesight improves as they grow older, but it is still not very good. Hedgehogs can see some colours, but not all of them. They can see blue and green well, but red and yellow not so much.
Hedgehogs use their sense of smell to find food and avoid predators. They also use their hearing to detect danger. When a hedgehog senses danger, it curls up into a tight ball to protect its soft underbelly from harm.
Are Hedgehogs Color Blind?
It is a common misconception that hedgehogs are colour-blind. Hedgehogs are, in fact, able to see colour. However, their vision is less keen than that of humans. Hedgehogs are primarily likely to be nearsighted, meaning they can see things up close but not far away.
Yes, hedgehogs are color-blind. However, they can still see colors, just not as vividly as we do. For example, a hedgehog may be able to see a blue object, but it will appear grey to them.
Tumblr media
There are a lot of conflicting reports on whether or not hedgehogs are colourblind. Some sources say they are, while others claim they can see some colours. However, the jury is still out on this one, and more research needs to be done to determine the truth.
One study conducted in 2015 found that hedgehogs could distinguish between different colours of light. However, another study from 2016 found that hedgehogs did not react differently to different colours of light, leading the researchers to believe that they might be colourblind.
So, what's the verdict? Are hedgehogs colorblind or not? Unfortunately, we don't have a clear answer just yet. More research must be done to determine whether these cute little creatures can see colors.

45th Street
Part of my “nostalgia” series I worked on in November 2018 for my landscape class. I was originally planning on painting a cityscape of Toronto, but I ended up changing it since I get nostalgic about basically Everything anyways... and it was my first trip to NYC & DEH was my first Broadway show so it seemed Very Relevant.
(Another classmate was using blacklight in their piece which added some Extra Spice to the Music Box sign and other lights where I used neon paint which was a very fun surprise)
Other Things:
the figure in the foreground under the Music Box is a self-insert lol ft. the outfit I wore to see the show
the Jacobs sign and Music Box signage are the only cut-out parts (sad about the dent on the corner of the Music Box one... it’s been through public transit and a move)
I hate measuring while I draw/paint so I didn’t use a ruler for the whole time lmao (except maybe on the cut-outs...)
I missed the original deadline because it took So Long to paint but my prof was okay with it and I ended up showing him the completed triptych the following semester.
the other two paintings also have cut-outs in the leaves on the trees in the top one, and pretty much everything in the square one except for the view through the window
12x24 acrylic on wood panel with cardstock cut-outs

DONT 👏🏻 STAGEDOOR 👏🏻 A 👏🏻 SHOW 👏🏻 YOU 👏🏻 HAVENT 👏🏻 SEEN
(or stagedoor etiquette in general, because,,,,,y’all don’t know)
(Source: live 45 minutes from nyc, seen many many many shows, theatre major, knows how to respect human beings)
The stagedoor is a place for fans of a show to gather AFTER THEY HAVE SEEN IT to discuss with the actors the power of the show, a show they may have just fallen in love with or may be seeing for the fifteenth time, to give their (POS👏🏻IT👏🏻IVE) feedback to the actors, talk about special moments and stories, and yes, admittedly, meet their favorite actors because they’re their favorite actors.
DO:
—appreciate ALL actors. You don’t have to give the same screaming, fangirling, dying amount of love to every single ensemble member as you’re giving to Jonathan Groff, but do tell them how you loved the show, great job, etc. being “too generic” is way better than ignorance.
—appreciate musicians??? I’ve seen it a billion times. Pit player comes out, people READY TO APPLAUD just....don’t? And the musical waves shyly and runs off as fast as possible. What the fuck?!! Break the mold. CLAP. Say great job. Say I loved the music! If you recognize the instrument from the case, say “yay violinist!!!!” seriously, guys, I.....seriously.
—stick around. Usually the person that EVERYONE is waiting for will wait until the end to come out, but in case they don’t start shutting down, don’t just leave. There’s a chance other people are coming out and they deserve your love too.
—keep your hands to yourself. A LOT of times, an actor will imitate contact first. “Do you want a hug?” Putting their arm around you in photo, etc. don’t be the first to grab.
DONT:
—ask another actor “when will ___ come out/will ___ come out?” Y I KE S!!! If this is a question you want to ask, a security guard will be happy to go and investigate for you. Not another actor. No. No bueno.
—Talk too much about another show. This is also a keen indication to an actor you haven’t seen the show. Appropriate would be: “I loved your work in ___! Such an inspiration. You did a great job tonight too! I liked it when you (etc.)” Asking to sign memorabilia from another show is appropraite, but try to get a signature on your playbill too.
—ask “who did you play?” PLEASE,,,,,DONT,,,,,,,ASK,,,,,THIS,,,,,if you’re unsure (and you might be!) Be generic. “I loved the show! Great job!” And if you wanna be sneaky (I’ve done this) hand the page of headshots to sign. They’ll sign next to their own. This a good trick in general for remembering who’s signature you got.
—STAGEDOOR IF YOU HAVENT SEEN THE SHOW. WHY DO I HAVE TO KEEP SAYING THIS??? Please wait until you’ve experienced what the actors want to share with you, what everyone around you has felt, before stagedooring. Don’t stagedoor if you’re seeing the show tomorrow. Don’t stagedoor if you’ve seen the bootleg a thousand times. If you saw the show a few days ago and you want to go back to SD because Andrew Rannells didn’t come out, that’s acceptable (but if an understudy/different actor comes out when you stagedoor, same respect as if you just saw them).
—tell an actor you saw the bootleg. Most notably at not-SD signings and such. Though I agree that actors should not scrutinize bootlegs if they refuse to make their art accessible for a winder audience, that’s a whole other argument, and their beliefs that nobody should film and distribute their show still deserve respect. In this case, it’s better to lie (Yes, I saw it) or (no, but I love the soundtrack and what’s available online). I got around the “have you seen the show?” Question at broadwaycon by telling him we’d seen it in the movie theater (which was true!!! But even if it wasn’t, you can pretend it was if you know it happened.)
—leave the show early (during finale/bows) to go stagedoor. The actors know what you’re doing, the security knows what you’re doing, they can probably even SEE WHO DID IT. It’s distracting, it’s rude, the entire row in front of me got UP AND LEFT DURING THE FINALE to go meet Brendon Urie, apparently it was happening so much he had to tweet about it.
—give “criticism.” NOT YOUR FUCKING JOB!!!! When we were 12, my best friend told Leslie Margarita her hair was “better in [matilda] than in real life”. she tweeted about it, following up with “yikes!!!!!!” Yeah. Don’t.
thanks for reading hope I didn’t bother u too much

Musical recommendations
These are just some recommendations based on other popular musicals
If you like Mean Girls- Bring it on                                                                           Both are about high school popularity. The music in Mean girls reminds me a lot of Bring it on. You get to listen to Taylor Louderman belt her face off in both
If you like Something Rotten- Love’s Labor’s Lost                                                 Love’s Labor’s Lost is a musical comedy based off the Shakespeare play with the same name. Patti Murine and Kamiko Glen. Katherine Steele was in a production of it last year so check out her youtube channel if you want to know a little more about it
Spring awakening and Be More Chill- Alice by Heart                                             This show reminds me of if SA and BMC had a beautiful musical baby. Amazing cast (Wesley Taylor, Coltan Ryan, Noah Galvin...) Same writers of SA with big BMC vibes. Such a cute storyline with amazing music. (there’s not a single song on the cast album that I dislike)
These were just a few recommendations. Feel free to comment some more, or message me if you want some other recommendations or want to know more about these shows :)
