I know Chuuya is less more obvious obsessed with Dazai but can you gives us more examples of him ? I know I'm pain in the ass , but I love reading soukoku evidence or any posts about them ( literally ANYTHING related to them ).
He, in the middle of corruption, when he has no control over himself, cannot differentiate friend from foe, more or less just floats in the back of his own consciousness, yelled Dazai's name, found him and punched him in the face gently enough to not behead him after he had just ko-d an ability dragon. That is not including the fact that he knew Dazai wasn't dead cause he could feel it in his bones or something and jumped out of a plane to near certain death just to save him.
In the ova with Kunikida, Chuuya randomly followed him around because he suspected Dazai could be the one involved.
In his meeting with Yosano and Kenji he automatically assumed Dazai blabbed about him to the ADA. (Understandable tbh cause he did talk to Oda about him).
In the dhc parts of dead apple novel he specifically fixated on saving Dazai despite previously talking about how he didnt give a shit about Dazai and only needed to save the grunts. "Wait for me, shitty dazai". What about the grunts Chuuya?
Man described Dazai's ideal date when asked about what he considered a good date idea just so he could insist he wont do that.
In the same interview Chuuya randomly brought up Dazai again saying he would like to spend his evening drinking when Dazai is not around.
Bro popped into the basement just to see Dazai and annoy him the moment he found out Dazai had been captured after 4 years of seperation and the first thing out of his mouth is comparing him to a billion dollar masterpiece and to drag him super close to his face by the hair and bring up their (ex) partnership.
They both live rent free in each other's heads in wan.
Bro has Dazai in his list of dislikes but freaks out anytime he is actually hurt. Not the guy who tried to murder him, not his bro who offed all his friends, not the other dude that offed all his friends, not his own torturer. The guy he will trust with life and humanity. Yea.
Has mentioned that they are fated in the high school au games. Used corruption when Dazai died in beast au.
Still knows Dazai like the back of his hand and can predict his motives and moves. If Dazai has a PhD in Chuuyology than Chuuya is working on his post doc in Dazaistic.

teenager Reader who feels insecure about their scars for (yandere) oda ( yandere) ango and (yandere) dazai ( together platonic ofc and I would like for reader to be fem or gender neutral)
Tumblr media
TW: Gender neutral reader, swearing, yandere behaivour, implied kidnapping, I feel like Dazai was close to manipulating reader but bbg Ango saved the day.
Oda has been increasingly getting worried about you. Maybe it was just a teenage thing? But Dazai never acted like you were doing so queue worried father figure.
Ango on the other hand could care less are you dying? No? Then it doesn't really matter. He does care though he's too sleep deprived to give any fucks .
Dazai knows exactly whats going on. He knows everything about you and it's absolutely not creepy! He just really likes you to the point of not obsessing over you.
So when they all gather around to figure out what the hell is wrong with you well Oda and Ango try and figure it out Dazai is trying to brainstorm ideas on how to off himself. But he'll occasoinally put in some input.
And after 1 painstaking hour Dazai finally speaks up
"Oh is that what you're trying to figure out? Oh they're self concious cause of their scars." Dazai just smiles like he wasn't messing with them and that he deffintly only figured it out at that moment.
Shock.
Absoulte shock and then aggressive calling of you they were practically screaming for you to come to the Lupin.
You rushed there obviously thinking that something horrible happened but oh? But the trio where all there looking perfectly fine well as fine as they usally are.
"Why didn't you tell us? Do you not trust us?" Ango started giving you a worried mom look what is he talking about.
"I-" You were slightly confused but Ango continued "Is it because of Dazai?" You mean depending on what it was it could be but you decided to just say.
"Why would it be because o-"
"If it's cause of me I'm sorry I didn't mean to make you self concious about your scars Y/Nnnnn..!" Dazai says in an over dramatic tone.
"Be quiet." Finally someones on your side "They're obviously not gonna tell us." You were about to thank Oda but you got bandages chucked at your head. Wait..
"Here. Maybe you can use these? Out of sight out of mind.. Oh that was stupid sorry.." Oda smiled at you awkwardly it was nice of him you guess?
"But thoughtful~" You add on to what he said. "GASP Y/N has bandages are you gonna match with me are you are you are you?" Dazai picked the bandages out of your lap and started to unravel them "Can I put 'em on? I'm an expert y'know?" Dazai grins.
"Well I haven't decided yet..." "C'mon pleeeaasssee.?" "LEAVE THEM ALONE DAZAI" "Pleeeaaassseee Ango?" You tuned out the rest of the conversation but you felt a little more comfortable now with yourself , your friends, your everything. That's great anything to make you feel comfortable in one of their houses unable to leave. For your saftey of course.

me when im supposed to be studying but instead im thinking abt mori and dazai again
let me go absolutely insane for a second (not a second. this is so long. i just checked mfer its over 2000 words. i need to be sedated. imprisoned. restrained. examined. smthn)
'a young man with a death wish once came to me and i wanted to rescue him but i couldnt' and like yeah. beast mori couldnt rescue him. but to a certain extent, canon mori sort of has (touch wood for long term but as it is, dazai is so much less intent on dying than he was in dark era).
and it just. i always wonder about the actual intentions of the mimic situation. because on the surface, it looks like what dazai calls it, then deeper than that, it looks like a very calculated long term strategy, and deeper than that, its just. kinda sad.
i just think its interesting that he plans the mimic thing the way he does knowing dazai will leave despite the fact that he doesnt want him to. and dazai himself reasons this as mori being afraid of him, that mori doesnt want dazai to kill him the way mori killed the old boss. but thats? not true? mori seems unbothered at worst and downright proud at best when he tells oda that dazai will probably kill him one day.
so. Why. did he do it knowing dazai would leave? it wasnt his only option; he could have set skk on mimic. like 5 second future vision isnt gonna do much when the danger is alr there (as oda says). and in the face of a massive black hole coming right at u or a building being dropped on you, five seconds really isnt gonna do much. so mimic cld have been removed without a casualty and the mafia could still have got the permit, and not lost dazai. (who is Objectively an asset to the organisation.) But thats not how it happens. Mori plans it exactly as he does knowing oda will die and dazai will leave. he also then makes it continually obvious that dazai would be welcomed back.
and ive been trying to think of other reasons for it, but across canon and insight from beast mori the only thing i can think of comes back to the fact that mori wants dazai alive. alive and aware that the pm is the best place for him, but alive more than anything else.
i think he wants dazai as his heir bc he knows dazai is enough like him to manage it, but i wonder if it also comes back to the fact that mori is trying to rescue him, and i imagine his own reason to live (and lord knows he suggests he needs a strong one in fifteen) is probably tied down to legacy and responsibility for the city. mori devotes his life to the mafia because he wants peace and appreciates that control (rather than eradication) of the worst of yokohama is the way to keep that peace. and thats enough of a reason to live for him. but it isnt for dazai.
dazai doesnt give a fuck about the mafia as a concept bc his motivations dont rest on ideals the way moris do. dazai only ever does anything because of the people he cares about. everything we see him do, EVEN in pm era where people claim he was some emotionless rockman, come back to his friends.
its why hes never at the centre of the plot. he cant be, because he never does anything for himself. fifteen, in which he is a titular character, is a plot that rests vastly on chuuyas back story. dazais original motivation prior to meeting him is just to khs, and only upon meeting chuuya and them having their whole weird Thing and dazai deciding to be an obsessive freak, does he actually have personal stakes in the job. then in stormbringer, its all abt chuuya again, and dazai is only involved bc he cares about him (whatever he actually says aside). tdipud is driven by odas storyline, and so is dark era. dazai is only active in them bc he cares abt oda.
even when he has more idealistic motivations come canon era, they come back to the fact that hes doing it for oda. anything Above And Beyond that promise is bc hes acting to save the agency, who are his Friends. his motivations are deeply personal in complete contrast to moris, and it is perhaps the only place they really differ.
now ironically, it seems to be that the only decisions mori makes influenced by personal feelings are because of dazai. which takes me to the fact that i think he let dazai leave because he recognises thats whats best for him (at least in the short term - and we'll get to That in a second). and its not really a loss for the organisation because dazais too practical to ever dismiss the mafia, and he still gut responds with their methods. so its an easy sacrifice, a justifiable one.
then theres the contrast with the kouyou&kyouka thing. kouyou doesnt want kyouka to taste the light only to have it sour on her tongue when she realises she cant actually have it because of what she is. because kouyou believes anyone tainted by darkness the way they are can never be free of it. (because she couldnt get out herself).
i wouldnt be surprised if mori thinks the same way, certainly in regards to someone like dazai who Is naturally built for the mafia in a way kyouka really isnt. mori at least believes dazais blood is mafia black and whether or not this is true is irrelevant. he Does have to actively fight his impulses in order to do the Right Thing even now. And even doing that, he still falls into their methods when its practical, or when he's paranoid or unsettled enough to need the comfort of habit, hence the way he treats aku even four years removed from the mafia. hence the way he treats atsushi immediately after Q appears (the way he so instantly latches onto his older self literally slapping the self pity he detests in himself and in his former kouhai out of his current one). hence the way the parallels to mori spring up most when dazai has just been shaken by something.
so i wonder if mori let dazai walk into the light knowing (or believing) he wouldnt fit there, and would come back with a stronger commitment to the mafia as a whole because it may be a concept of sorts, but its one that embraces him in a way the light doesnt, and while dazai does things for the people He cares about, its a mutual thing - he feels responsibility for the people that care about Him too (which probably ties in to the desire for a quiet suicide without bothering anyone, and also to the disgust he has w the sheep - because it Isnt a mutual exchange there).
i think it was always intended as a temporary thing (five years away from the mafia maybe. the 'five years' right before dazai comes to take moris place). give him a taste of the light and let him come to his own conclusion that he doesnt belong there, and eventually turn back to the mafia where he does belong.
(despite suggestions that dazai Doesnt really belong there - smthn smthn cat/dog symbolism - though people suggest this implies he belongs w the ada and i dont think thats true either esp given the way hes omitted from the group so often. i think the cat symbolism w dazai likens him more to natsume than atsushi&fukuzawa esp given the way theyre shown tgthr so often. dazai doesnt belong to any organisation or rigid group, he just fits in line w whoever he cares abt and wherever he decides hes content to stay. v much like a cat actually.).
anyway, moris idea seems to be that dazai wld realise the mafia is somewhere he is cared for, and he cares for the people within it in return. though it doesnt seem to have really turned out that way (maybe mori j underestimated the power of the ada's one specialty: forced integration into its found family. lmao)
so you could see it from a practical perspective: mori sending dazai out to show him he really belongs w the mafia and shld come back to them when the time is right, thus mori secures his legacy by leaving the pm to dazai and the mafia is led forward by someone who could handle it the way mori has.
but. hes never pushy abt dazai coming back. hes downright polite abt it (contrasting to the way he treats yosano), and he puts an awful lot of effort into saving dazais life. (kinda funny that he sends chuuya to pick dazais ass up every five seconds with no reward for either of them - chuuya post dead apple literally asks and moris just like ? uh the safety of the city?? bragging rights😁👍? - but when he sends chuuya to save the agency as a whole the price is Heavy like. exchange of a member is crazyyy.)
dazai is always very much considered One Of Their Own. his seat is still empty waiting for him to come back, he and mori post guild are Always cooperating (despite the kinda petty way dazai talks to him during the reunion - the whole 'i burnt the coat' thing - its almost childish, spiteful in a way that speaks to personal hurt that undermines any control he might have had of their kind of distant passive aggressive exchange. but. im too insane abt that interaction that my interpretation cld be entirely bs.)
they communicate through this ridiculous game of chess, and rely on each other to keep both their organisations afloat. when anyone else from the ada tries to pull the same thing, mori pulls out contracts for their damn souls but when its dazai hes just like ? oh ur bf needs to save you again? of course i can spare him to go pick you up from european prison yeah not a problem! ill even glue his vampire cosplay teeth in!!
in connection with that, even with dazais commitment to Doing The Right Thing, he does not do it in the right way. hes perfectly content to use mori-typical underhanded methods to get the ada to the right place. he sends aku To His Death Knowingly for the sake of saving atsushi and by extension the rest of the agency (and he may have known that the vampirism wld sorta bring him back?? but he still sends him to die), and its sorta similar to mori sending aku out to deal with hawthorne and mitchell while hes in rlly bad shape.
anyway dazais methods always make me think of that cunty exchange sskk have in dead apple 'thats not the way we do things in the detective agency' 'was that a bad joke😘 ur too much weretiger🌈✨💖'. but like. dazai Doesnt work the way the ada does. at least not when things get tense enough to drive him back to habit.
i think people like to interpret dazai as being a better person now, and i think in some ways he is. because hes always influenced by the people hes around most. but also, his motivations havent really changed from pm era. he still does what he does for his friends, they just happen to be on the right side now.
anyway. mori puts more work into keeping dazai alive than any other character (bar perhaps chuuya - but thats because mori saving dazai runs hand in hand with chuuya doing it given hes the one sending him) which is. aurgh.
mori and the wish to save people is just interesting in general. the fact that he became a doctor in the first place is telling on its own plus the unhinged way he deals with yosano - of course someone obsessed with saving people would want a cheat card for sending Death packing - but maybe i could believe it was just a power thing, more to his sense of control. playing with life and death so that he can play god. and i think that probably is just a little bit part of it, esp during the war.
but theres also the way he treats doctors within the pm (sb calls it respect for his former position but it may also be knowledge that the better treated they are the more people they will save). And the only reason he works w the tripartite agreement is bc he loves yokohama, wants its people, including its underground, alive and all that (honestly it probably links back to war stuff - hes really intent on peace).
so hes already someone that is intent on saving people (and beast mori makes this obvious w the way he treats atsushi) but theres a personal edge to it w dazai, possibly bc dazai is so much like him, and asgr is kind of obsessed w the saving your mirrors bc you cldnt save yourself thing (atsushi. lucy. chuuya with his clone. beast akutagawa siblings. beast atsushi&kyouka. i could continue).
im frothing at the mouth but basically, mori does everything for practical reasons in line with his ideals, his grand vision for the PM, but that doesnt mean he isnt making any emotionally charged decisions. its just that theyre always justified by their practical outcomes. (Especially where dazai is concerned). so he can pretend that theyre not driven by personal feelings but IM WATCHING U MORI U CANT HIDE FROM ME.
yk i sometimes wonder if i see him too sympathetically for a guy thats as so sucks as he is but someone has to counterbalance the 75% of the fandom that thinks hes pure evil for no reason and has no thoughts outside of Being Terrible so. here you go have this from the depths of my brain.

Dazai analysis after reading No longer human
Tumblr media
English is not my first language and maybe I'm not very good at this, it's my first analysis. :)
In this analysis I compare Dazai with Yozo (the main character of No longer human) to try to deduce the reason for Dazai's behavior.
////
Despite Yozo and Dazai's obvious similarities, such as recurring jokes and gloomy thoughts/outlooks on life, Dazai doesn't seem to exhibit the social anxiety Yozo has, as well as the extreme need to please others.
So I'll use a few things in the book to describe him.
(I am not saying that what I write is the truth, but how I am interpreting it)
On the one hand, he is apparently seen as an extrovert, joker, energetic, shameless, lazy, and obsessed with suicide. While on the other hand he is seen as a cold person without any kind of empathy, moral conscience, manipulative "without feelings", depressive. Being supposedly his true form of being. The only change that can be seen that marked him was the death of Oda, the only person with whom we have seen him have genuine feelings, so he is not a person incapable of feeling. Oda asked Dazai before he died to be "on the side of those who save" so Dazai did, he went to the side of the "good" not necessarily because he wanted to change but because the only person he had connected with he asked, and maybe he held on to this to keep living, but then why does he keep trying to kill himself? I will venture to say that it is simply because he does not find a genuine reason to live, it is not something that has come out of him but an external message.
In my opinion, this is a clear example of Dazai not getting over Oda's death (since he's the only person he ever connected with). It can be seen that for some reason he does not form affective bonds with others unless it is superficial, thus being able to manipulate and replace them. After reading the book, I think this doesn't really mean that Dazai does this out of the simple essence of being a bad person, but because it's what depression combined with trauma does to some people. While we don't know much about his past, just being in a mob at such a young age is a trauma, although it's obvious something happened to him before he was picked up by Mori.
He is a person who has no sense of right or wrong or any kind of morality, allowing him to keep his options open, which gives him more chance in the anime/manga to make "bad" decisions regarding others. If I remember correctly, Yozo (main character of No longer human, on which Dazai is somewhat based) talked about precisely not feeling human, not being able to connect and understand the emotions of others, which led him to live in loneliness and feeling different all his life, I couldn't explain if this is because of depression, or if on the contrary this is a reason why depression develops (not really important here). But I think this fits pretty well with Dazai and why he is this way (in the sense that he betrays everyone regardless of whether they were/are his teammates), because maybe he doesn't feel like he belongs somewhere, so we could essentially describe him as an individualist person.
Regarding Dazai's duality, I don't think any of the two parts he shows are really 100% his complete self, since one is a farce and the other is the crudest form of his depression. He is simply a person who is incapable of understanding others or incapable of feeling connected to anyone because he is traumatized and because he has a tendency, whether consciously or not, to disguise his feelings, which is why he sometimes seems insensitive or incapable of reacting to horrible things. , it could be said that "he doesn't care about anything" at first glance, which is common in depressed people. The only time that something was appreciated regarding his feelings was when he was with Oda in his last moments of life, and frankly, he was seen as a rather lost person; "what should I do?" He asked, that's when Oda told him to be on the side of the good guys. Etc. What I mean by this is that he is capable of having affective ties, I insist a lot on this, I know, but it seems to me that it is something that should be understood.
Dazai is a person without a reason to live who unconsciously clings to some concept; like joining the Port Mafia, Oda, the Agency, or even it can be assumed that also the fact of looking for a person to commit suicide with is.
On the other hand, I think its important to take into account the possible similarities between Yozo and Dazai in terms of toxic behavior towards the people around him. If I understand correctly, Yozo ultimately turned out to be, for whatever reason, a liar and an alcoholic who took advantage of the people around him, being taken in by women in their homes and spending their money. We can't see this in Dazai, but he is seen as a bad partner, since he hands over his tasks to others and doesn't keep his promises, clear proof that he is possibly a rather toxic person.
Did he really change when he left the Port Mafia?
Yes and no. For obvious reasons, the experience in the mafia in full development age as it is from 14 to 18 years old, and the death of the only person who mattered to him is obvious that it would change anyone. He is not a person immune to the things that happen around him.
This is already in the perception of each one but I honestly think that Dazai changed a bit, of course he is still the same person without moral values and etc, that is why he continues doing what he does, because these are behaviors that simply cannot be changed because you decide so, you can simply "repress" or "hide" them, the latter is exactly what he does.
But it is obvious that he has changed when his bandages decreased and he shows himself with a different attitude in front of others. The Port Mafia vs Agency setting is completely different and that would present minimal change to either.

Although Dazai doesn't seem to have a complacent demeanor like Yozo, he does say things that make him seem kind and then doesn't follow through, like when Chuuya asks him to take him somewhere since he's very weak afterward for using Corruption, Dazai tells him yes, and then leaves him. Or like when he congratulated Akutagawa for getting stronger but didn't apologize for how he treated him, yet he didn't make a bad impression.
He doesn't get over Oda's death;
Oda gave him a reason to be on the Agency, what he is doing is probably just to "finish" that request. If he had accepted Oda's death, Dazai would have committed suicide long ago (his suicide attempts in the middle of the anime being impulsive and recurring acts of his own behavior).
Bandages:
His character designer confirmed that the bandages were drawn to represent Dazai's obsession with suicide. In my case, I prefer to think that it is so, that the bandages are to cover his suicide attempts, but also injuries from the mafia and, (small headcanon) perhaps scars from morphine injections (Yozo injected himself with morphine).
My opinion is that he is a character who avoids suffering at all costs, using both the "good" and "bad" facets to avoid confronting himself and not feel vulnerable. We can see that he seeks to escape at all costs from what he suffers apart from this, with the fact that he drinks too much alcohol. Which in turn could justify his obsession with suicide, since death would mean feeling no more pain.
I feel that Dazai, if we compare him to Yozo, surrounds himself with others and makes changes to avoid himself. Yozo saw no point in eating, and only ate because the others ate and he was there. So perhaps it is more likely that Dazai himself would be incapable of cooking for himself (in one chapter it is seen that he only eats small cans of food), and would do things like change the environment to find something that makes him have desire to live, even if it turns out to be unsuccessful. This leaves us with obvious contradictions such as why he would seek a reason to live if what he wants is to die, because he does not seek death itself, but rather the end of suffering. I would undoubtedly classify him as a character with a very advanced depression, which is what we can see both in the anime and in the author's novels, as well as his addiction to alcohol.
//
I honestly don't really like the type of person he is, but that doesn't really mean he's good or bad in bungo stray dogs or as a character himself. I would really like to see him show his feelings at least once. Although if you ask me, I think he ended up committing suicide at the end of the series.

Bungo Stray Dogs Season 3 Anime Review
Includes Spoilers
Tumblr media
Now this was a season that covered alot and I loved every minute of it. so far each season I swear gets better and I'm so in love with the plot, characters, everything. I've come along ways from when I first started but think my top 5 stand strong now Chuuya, Akutagawa, Atsushi, Dazai, & Kunikida. Don't get me wrong when Sakunosuke Oda was alive he was my number 4 over Dazai but since he isn't anymore thats my new order based on season 3.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I honestly wasn't expecting to like the show down between the two factions with Yukichi Fukuzawa versus Ōgai Mori. I haven't once ever cared for Mori and even in this season I still don't. Its not like he wouldn't be a good character however he is so stuck on his daughter with her powers saving his filthy ass. I just read over this character and seems like its not his daughter yet sometimes he calls her his wife... I'm gonna leave it at that cause that just got weirder for me. Like grow some balls dude. Then there is Fukuzawa he oh my god he is a bad ass. His personality to me is like Kunkida you don't see his gentle side right off the bat and he grows on you in time but once he does you can enjoy the character how should have be. When he got killed I was gonna lose my shit so I was happy his death didn't stick.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Up until this season I always felt for Higuchi being in love with Akutagawa but by this season you realize she has a very unhealthy obsession over him not quiet the same. Bot sure where there future can go from here and I really do feel like she is in love with him but sadly I feel like he doesn't think he is worthy of love which is why he shows none to no one more than his sister really. What I don't get is how she couldn't look at gin beside her brother and tell they were siblings I could. Her jealousy streak kicked in and that was the end of that, even to the point she was willing to push Atsushi into dating her to keep her sweet Akutagawa to herself. I feel what you saw in the first season of how she would die for him and how he thanked her I think if he thought more highly of himself he might actually could be accepting of something with her. She is the only one who cares not on what he has done but would be willing to stand by and die by his side.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now lets take a stroll back to Chuuya and his past as a 15 year old and up. Damn he was hot even as a kid FFS. Anyways so many people ship him with Dazai but by this season if there was a ounce of me that thought it should happened it died here. Now let me explain so you see how they meet and they hate each other from the start. Chuuya is in a mission to take down port mafia for destroying the city he calls home. He works along other kids to do this, however Dazai brings him into Mori and this is where Chuuya's life gets changed. However he still hates them he is willing to work with them to get to a bigger picture in what he sees as a way to still take them down.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then you have Dazai who goes out of his way to let Chuuya's friends know he is with the mafia now even though he hasn't actually signed on. Dazai is a master manipulator and when Chuuya had his friends try to kill him because they thought he was a traitor Dazai stepped in telling him only if he joins the port mafia will he protect the kids and wipe the rest out so he agrees. Like seriously how can someone ship that bullshit Chuuya is such a better man. Only reason Dazai stays on my list is because he still is a likable character but he has fucked over alot of people. I mean he wonders why Chuuya hates him yes he trusts him with his life but still hates him because after dragging his life into the mafia Dazai just leaves one day without even a word. I will say though I love his attitude from the start its super hot in my book.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So I'm not a fan of these two together and the fact they ended up at one point because of her powers naked together I just was a bit irritated. She is like a hateful tsundere chick yet always blames him for everything. He is so much better with Kyouka and more chemistry too. Plus even though I know some ship these two its one sided on Lucy. I saw this because time and time again he has showed he would die to protect Kyouka even sleeps in her closet to be by her side. We all know Lucy is selfish she has no issue sacrificing him if need be but Kyoka won't she has time and time again put her life on hold for him as well I think thats why I think they are a healthier ship.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kyouka and Atsushi are just too cute together and don't get me wrong the closet scene is from the movie I had forgot to mention it but after showing proof him and Lucy should never be together I felt it was necessary to show this when talking about these two ships together. There is nothing else that works for me and I will ship them too the end. Plus I think they need each other like nothing else.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Watching Atsushi struggle with the only man he knew as a father die was heartfelt. I understood why he hated him and why it hurt to even think about however Dazai was right in one thing he said to him that he wouldn't be the man he turned out to be if he hadn't been raised the way he was. Then when he started crying after that made me tear up I love Atsushi his heart is so good he is the cinnamon roll of this show.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then when they showed Kyouka as a child after watching her parents killed right in front of her broke my heart. Like seconds before it all happened her father was talking about how happy he was to spend more time with his wife and daughter then all this goes down and her life is forever changed.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Watching Kunkida break after watching the child that Fyodor had kill herself in front of him. No matter what this man loves kids and I think would make an absolute great father. Like seriously to me he reminds me alot of Sakunosuke for that with his orphan kids. These men would make the best fathers of all the men on this show. It so hurts to watch him hurt though so I felt for him in this scene.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok am I the only one that hates Fyodor like sure he is hot in a psychotic kind of way. I feel like he would be the yandere of this show thats for sure but I don't know he is just heartless I can't like him in any way. Shoot I like Mori more than this son of a bitch. I can see going fourth I'm going to hate seeing him on the show over and over again.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ok Ranpo taking on Chuuya was pretty hot not gonna lie. Like his attitude his confidence I think the first time I found this man sexy as fuck. I think Chuuya is better but still you go Ranpo bout time you step that sex appeal up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That moment when Kyouka tries to kill Akutagawa was very memorable but even more so that when she didn't succeed and for the first time he tells her he sees she has changed and found happiness and that he is happy for her. He proved even to her he isn't all bad he does have a heart no matter how much he tries to hide it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These two fight and tell each other off but in the end they fight well together. I also believe they understand each other way more than they even realize. You even see when he lends him his powers so he can beat the bad guy in the end of this season. He asks why he fights and I guess he liked and respected his answer so instead of them both dying they both fought to survive as they always did. Its funny to see how Atsushi is coddled by Dazai making him better but yet he Dazai was also the man to break both Chuuya and Akutagawa.

I'm curious, who are your favourite bsd characters ?
Oh, thank you for the ask, Anon! And my fave bsd characters, huh?
Man...I have absolutely no idea because it changes based on my mood and which arc I'm currently screaming my head off over AND what characters suddenly decide to be deeper than they actually are in my head. But to be concise, why don't I just give a run down for favourite character(s) per group? And uh...buckle up cause I'm gonna ramble as I usually do.
Lengthily
ADA - Fukuzawa, Kyouka, Atsushi, Kunikida, Yosano....I'm gonna stop now before I start listing them all.
To be honest, if I had to pick one out of all of them, it would currently be Kyouka. I just....*hugs her tight* I love how her arc is basically like a mini light novel within canon. I love how her arc isn't completed when she joins the light side and manages to pass the entrance exam but when she finds out the truth about her ability and her parents because it's such a GOOD narrative callback to where her story started. You think her story began with the PM and Akutagawa and ended in saving the ADA and Atsushi, right? But no...those were just very important parts of her journey. Her story begun when she lost her parents and became burdened with something out of control that seemed only good to kill...and ended when Kouyou (who had taken her in after that loss) let her go and took steps to reveal that this cursed "only good for killing ability" that Kyouka had was her mother's last expression of love. Kyouka thought her ability killed her parents but instead it was a result of a love for their daughter that didn't die with them and I just go INSANE thinking about the cyclical nature of it all. Blah blah blah tragedies may be repeated but you know what's also repeated and what also lasts? A parent's love for their child.
Probably also why I love Fukuzawa. Something about middle aged characters who find themselves becoming the parent of one child and suddenly finding they can't stop adopting kids.
But lest I get carried away, I'll let the other three speak for themselves
PM - Chuuya, Akutagawa, Gin, Hirotsu, Odasaku...stopping myself again
I actually don't have a current favourite but man, I tell you, Anon. I was hoodwinked and bribed and dragged into loving Chuuya. My reaction from the anime and its adaptation of fifteen was, "oh, cool, that's EPIC....but can we get back to the present?" Then I read a quick summary of his backstory somewhere and just....yeah.
Akutagawa and Gin I just have soft spots for, even though we barely know anything about the latter (part of me believes there HAS to be a light novel about the Black Lizards set somewhere between the beginning of canon and the doa arc because look at how close Tachi and Gin and Hirotsu somehow became??? Like when did that happen???). Also, Akutagawa is my pathetic, sad, feral, unhinged bloodthirsty boy who cares so much but has always been told he doesn't. It's the tragedy that he cares about Gin, that he did care to some degree about Atsushi and Kyouka, but that for some reason...he believes that the only thing he does care about is Dazai's approval (which is more of an obsession), which is EXCELLENT but also heartbreaking
I think Hirotsu's sort of the same with Fukuzawa. Older characters who find they have teenagers under their custody (first, Chuuya and Dazai...now the Black Lizards...the man just does not get a break)
And Oda.....is self explanatory, too. Haunts the narrative, haunts the characters, haunts the plot (you can't tell me the space time sword isn't a little bit of a call back to Flawless), haunts the meta-narrative....and also just was another tragic character that I think Dazai is trying to not make tragedy of, I don't know
Guild - Lucy (beloved, adored, precious), Poe (just as beloved, precious, adored, and raccoon owner), and Lovecraft
Come on you guys...how can I hate Lucy? How can I not love her? She's a narrative parallel or foil (however that's used...or both) to Atsushi but she's had to learn prematurely how to survive and struggle and think for herself and save her own skin. She's got one of the scariest spacial abilities in BSD because it combines both a pocket dimension and her own imagination (and I really want to see her and Akutagawa interact). I love LOVE for her so much that after the whole Guild business, she was just like "screw ability organisations" and went to work for a cafe BUT that she still can converse head on with people like Atsushi, Fukuzawa, Kyouka, and has zero fear of the government. She's Canadian (I think), she's got a cool ability, and I love her somehow simultaneously subtle but pretty obvious importance to the narrative (the queen in the chessboard)
Poe is basically similar. I just love his ability (I would misuse it SO much...that and Louisa's) and I love what a dramatic, violent theatre kid he is and envy his ability to focus on one project until it's completed and then move on like it didn't just consume months (or, in ranpo's case, years) of his time. And again his subtle but pretty obvious significance to the narrative (eyes covered, author in a manga of authors, like Lucy...he can help in all places)! It's kind of interesting to me how a lot of the western authors' abilities are a bit....off when it comes to their names. Poe's combines two of his stories, Lucy's makes her title slightly more dramatic, Fitzgerald just adds his name XDD. But that might be for copyright reasons, I have no idea how significant it could be.
As for Lovecraft? I find him relatable, that's all...all he wants to do is jump into the sea and sleep for a thousand years but accidentally got tied down by capitalism and I can hardcore relate.
Hunting Dogs - I like all of them, and yes even Fukuchi...but favourite is Tachihara no question. Pre-planned defector of the PM and managed to fool everyone more than Ango? I could ramble more about him but this is already getting really long....
DOA - I'll be honest with you guys....I still don't know much about them beyond the anime. But I am absurdly fond of Bram. Immortal vampire lord who also just wants to sleep and maybe listen to good tunes....yeah, mood.
And non-organisation/other characters? Aya, Mushitarou (technically, he was part of the Rats but that's a moot point), and Ango. I won't rant about them but just know they sometimes live rent free in my head...or, more like they cycle around in there like my brain's their vacation home
But I guess, currently, if I HAD to choose my top three out of all of them, it would be Kyouka, Mushitarou, and Poe
Now I'm done...

Kunikida + Oda: Death of a Good Man
Tumblr media
While Kunikida and Oda have never met in canon they are characters with a lot in common. They both essentially play the same role, as the moral center of their respective groups (particularly acting as a conscience for Dazai). They both share the same strengths and weaknesses. However, one lives and one dies. MORE UNDER THE CUT.
1. Relationship with Dazai
Dazai is a character who has trouble seeing himself as a person. That is, he doesn’t see himself as the same as everyone else. (His ability is titled No Longer Human, surprise, surprise). Oda says as much to Dazai, that traditional values like good or evil don’t really mean that much to him.
“Whether you’re on the side that takes lives, or the side that saves them nothing beyond your own expectations will happen. Nothing in this world can fill the hole that is your loneliness. You will wander for eternity.”
...
“Be on the side that saves people. If both sides are the same, then choose to be a good person.” - Osamu Dazai and the Dark Era
It’s not that Dazai is a sociopath, or even unfeeling, it’s just that he is so distanced from his own humanity, and from other people. He genuinely believes he can’t feel the same way as they do. Dazai even described the way he saw himself to Fyodor.
Tumblr media
Dazai tells Fyodor that he feels like he’s sperate from everyone else. It’s like he’s the player, and everybody else is pieces on the game board. But, even though he might come up with strategies and move the pieces, he’s not really the one changing things, or affecting other people’s lives because he’s not right there in the middle of things he’s far away.
Tumblr media
Dazai even flashes back to Oda and Gide’s final showdown when trying to explain this feeling to Fyodor. Oda his closest and only friend at the time, who he could not reach out to and save. Dazai believes he can’t touch other people, he can’t reach out and save them, because he sees himself as lacking in feelings or a heart. Which is why, Dazai relies on the people around him. Dazai attached himself to Oda when he was in the Mafia, and then again to Kunikida when he was detective agency to essentially act as his heart, his external conscience for him. That’s the relationship he shares with both of them. It’s why the first two light novels are essentially about Dazai, but narrated from the point of view of his partner at the time. Light novel one is about his partnership with Kunikida, and Light Novel 2 is about his friendship with Oda back in the dark age. The connection between them is that both Oda, and Kunikida are good, just men who have tried to understand Dazai in one way or another.
The events of both light novels even mirror each other to an extent. Entrance exam is about Dazai joining the agency, Dark Era is about Dazai leaving the mafia. Entrance exam is about Kunikida failing to understand Dazai, but learning to trust him anyway. Dark Era is about Oda being the only one who fully understands Dazai, but then not listening to him at the end of the story. They both end with a symbolic death, Oda commits double suicide with Gide, whereas Kunikida pretends to shoot Dazai in order to follow his plan.
Tumblr media
Dazai’s a master strategist, but he’s not a leader of men, nor does he have any particular ideals he stands for. Dazai was given a position of leadership within the port mafia, and not only did he spend the entire time tormenting his closest subordinate but he didn’t care about the lives of his subordinates the way Chuuya does.
Dazai sees Kunikida as someone having the ideals he does not have, therefore doing what he cannot, and being what he cannot be to others. This is a role Oda used to serve as his one and only friend. However, while they occupy the same spot as Dazai’s most trusted person their relationships with him are very different.
Kunikida is very combative with Dazai and always fighting against him. He personally expects Dazai to be better in all aspects. He scolds him for being lazy and neglecting his work. When Dazai messes with other people or manipulates them, it’s Kunikida who is the first to get frustrated with him. Kunikida also, tends to lack a fundamental understanding of Dazai. It’s a running joke that he’s always a step behind him (he’s the last person to find out Dazai was a mafia member when everyone else already knew). The literal first thing established about their relationship in the first chapter, is that they are constantly fighting with each other. They barely make it through a dinner with Atsushi.
Tumblr media
However, Kunikida also listens to Dazai when it’s important. It’s the other way around with Oda, Oda is someone who does fundamentally understand who Dazai really is deep down. However, at the same time Oda doesn’t really try to exert any influence over Dazai until the very end of his life. Their relationship was defined by being distant to one another, and not asking questions.
The reason why Ango and I were able to be by his side was that we understood the solitude that surrounded him, and we never stepped inside it no matter how close we stood.
But in that moment, I kind of regretted not stepping in and invading that solitude.
Dazai Osamu and the Dark Era.
Him, Ango and Dazai could only keep meeting as the Buraiha at the Lupin bar if they pretended to not know anything about what each other did outside of the bar. They’re different in one main aspect, Kunikida fights Dazai, and Oda doesn’t start fighting until it’s almost far too late.
2. Living and Dying for One’s Ideals
One more direct parallel between the two is that Kunikida and Oda are both characters who strive to live up to the ideal they find in a book. Literally. Kunikida obsessively writes out his ideals in his notebook where he has his whole future planned out.
What are ideals? There are innumerable answers to that question. One could say it’s merely a term, or an idea, or perhaps even the soruce of all meaning. But if you ask me, the answer is obvious. It’s the word written on the cover of my notebook.  My notebook has all the answers. It is my creed, my master, and a prophet that guides me. At times, it can either be a weapon ro a solution. Ideals. Everything I am is written in this notebook which I always carry with me. My entire future lies within it - Osamu Dazai’s Entrance Exam
Oda picked up a book and loved it so much he wanted to write the ending for himself.
After worrying about it for so long, I came to one conclusion.  “Then you write what happens next.” I decided to write about it myself. I would become a novelist, and write a story about why the man stopped killing. But to become a novelist, I needed to sincerely know what it meant to live. So, I stopped killing. -   Osamu Dazai and the Dark Era.
Kunikida and Oda are both characters who find their will to live for the future within the pages of a book. Which makes sense as both characters struggle with lofty ideals and a harsh reality. Oda and Kunikida are characters written about the struggle to be a good man, in a world that is not good. To hold ideals, in a world that is not ideal. This once again ties back to what Dazai said to Fyodor, God isn’t perfect harmony, he’s illogical and absurd.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The world isn’t ideal and orderly. It’s extremely, extremely messy. Kunikida and Oda are both characters who strive to be better, and want the world to be better and because of that they fall into conflict. However, Oda lost his fight, and Kunikida is still fighting. Part of why Dazai got so attached to Kunikida is also because he saw Oda’s ideals within Kunikida, and knew that carrying those ideals could crush him so easily.
“Justice is a weapon. It can be used to harm, but it cannot protect and save others.”  -Osamu Dazai’s Entrance Exams
The meanings of Dazai’s words are clear when you look at them in the context of what he learned after losing Oda. Oda decided to throw his life away to avenge the children after Gide. He achieved justice then. However, nobody was saved. The children were already dead. Oda himself wasn’t saved. Dazai lost his only friend.
“Something?” I looked at Dazai. “There isn’t anything, Dazai. It’s all over. Everything. Whatever else happens now is meaningless - just like I’m about to do. AM I wrong?”  “Odasaku...” Dazai said softly. “Forgive me for the absurd wording but - don’t go. Find something to rely on. Expect good things to happen from here on out. There’s gotta be soemthing...”
[...]
Oda’s march against Gide isn’t just tragic, it’s a deliberate choice. It was a suiide. He’s given several oppurtunities to just walk away, or wait for something else to give him a reason to live and he doesn’t. His final actions hurt more than they helped. Yes, he did save Dazai in a way by throwing his life away, but Dazai also lost the person who could understand him. Oda could have lived. He could have done more if he had lived. Dazai even says so in dead apple, saving people is the more beautiful path, but you have to be alive to see that beauty.
Tumblr media
This is also why Kunikida and Oda have such a connection to Dazai. Underneath their struggles to be a good man they are both constantly dealing with suicidal feelings.
Kunikida is far more fragile than he lets on. Part of the reason he attaches himself to ideals rather than people, is because caring about people hurts, and he is so afraid of failing the people in his life (the same way Oda eventually failed to protect the children) that he can’t admit the depth to which he cares about them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Kunikida struggles to save everyone in front of him, but that’s also because Kunikida is internally someone who is very fragile. He can’t handle the loss, especially losing those he is close to. When Atsushi is hospitalized after his first fight with Akutagawa, he pretends to be unconcerned. When Atsushi wants to save Kyoka, Kunikida tries to persuade him to not save her. Oda and Kunikida are both avoidant characters, Oda avoided ever stepping inside of Dazai’s loneliness, and Kunikida avoids getting close to others because they fear the people they cannot save. Kunikida cares so much and so deeply, that he’s completely shattered when he fails someone.
Tumblr media
Every strategy by the detective agency’s enemies relies on crushing Kunikida because he’s the easiest target. When he fails like this he wants to give up. Kunikida and Oda have this dark underside to their actions where they’re fighting continually to be better, but when they fail, they long to throw their lives away and give up the struggle.
Tumblr media
Part of the reason they’re attracted to Dazai is deep down Kunikida and Oda both have the same suicidal feelings. Kunikida knows that his ideals will never live up to the reality.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However, secretly he longs to fail so he won’t have to struggle against it anymore.
“I let go of Dazai. I understand what he’s aying. Perhaps righteousness isn’t something you seek in others, but something you search for inside of yourself. Even then... Miss Sasaki is dead, and so is Rokuzo.  All I’ve found in my search for righteousness within myself is a sense of hopelessness.”
Osamu Dazai’s Entrance Exam
The question is can you continue to live? Even if you fail over and over again to do better. Even if the things you try to protect all die. Kunikida’s arc so far mirrors Oda’s. The things he told himself he would protect, he failed to. The promises he made, he breaks. He said he was never going to watch a child die in front of him, and then it happens.
Tumblr media
He said he was never going to fail to protect the agency again, but then the agency became the victims of the hunting dogs, and Kunikida had to go completely on the run. He said he was going to throw himself away in a big bang against the hunting dogs to show his ideals would never fail, and instead.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He even loses his ideals and his ability to write in the notebook. So, what is the difference between Kunikida and Oda that allows Kunikida to keep struggling where Oda did not. I think it’s not really a difference between them, so much as it’s a difference between Dazai. Dazai’s grown since then and realized his mistakes with Oda, and because of that doesn’t stay at a comfortable distance from Kunikida.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Dazai has grown enough between then and now he’s able to reach people who feel similiarly to him. He understood the suicidal feelings of both Kunikida, and Oda, but he didn’t reach out to Oda until it was too late. However, Dazai has grown to the point where he not only understands Kunikida’s struggle and sympathizes with him, but he’s also able to say the words he couldn’t say to Oda until it was too late.
There’s no such thing as a point of no return. There is no point where everything is already over. Even if you fail to protect someone, even if you fail to protect everyone.
"Anything I would never want to lose will be lost. It is given that everything that is worth wanting will be lost the moment I obtain it. There's nothing worth pursuing at the cost of prolonging life of suffering."
Dazai is still the same person that said this. Deep down that’s what Kunikida and Oda both fear, that after Oda failed the orphans, that after Kunikida could not save an innocent child in front of them, that no matter how hard they fought all of their attempts to protect someone would fail that way. At which point their fighting seemed to become meaningless.
Dazai knowing those feelings has moved past that lament. He still believes that the struggle may be meaningless, but he reassures them that they can keep fighting anyway.
Tumblr media
If there’s no great glorious ideal to live for, if nothing we do matters, than all that matters is what we do. The world isn’t good, the world will never be as good as we want it to be, yet Kunikida can still strive to be good in the face of that.

Nakahara Chuuya X Heartbroken! Reader
(Y/N means your name, L/N means last name. This is also just the first part! Here is the second part: https://firemercyqueen.tumblr.com/post/659197494555803648/nakahara-chuuya-x-heartbroken-reader-2
Summary: You and Dazai were very close, but when he leaves, you’re left heartbroken. Did you really think Chuuya wouldn’t notice?
*A few hours before Dazai leaves...*
Y/N’s point of view:
I chuckled. “I mean, Mori might have some things to commit suicide. But, I hardly doubt he’d give anything to you. You are one of his favorite members.” I pointed out. He sighed. “You’re right. But I don’t really want anything from him..” Dazai admitted. I glanced at him. “Eh? Did something happen?” I questioned. “Nothing happened. Just... Be careful, okay?” He questioned. “Dazai being serious? This is new.” I joked. I was about to add something else, but... That look in his eyes said I shouldn’t...
I smiled. “I’m always careful. Tell me when I haven’t been.” I replied. He rose an eyebrow. “There was that one t-” He started, “Okay okay! Shush! I get it!” I cut him off. “But in all seriousness, I will be careful. If you’re the one telling me to be careful, then it’s best I listen.” I admitted. He smiled. “Thank you.” He replied.
“Could you also take care of Chibi for me? He doesn’t always listen to me, but he seems to listen to you. If I told him to be careful, you know he’d instantly do something dangerous.” He requested. “Of course!” I agreed. “Oh, speaking of which, aren’ t you going to the bar tomorrow?” I asked, “I don’t think I’m going to. I have some work to do.” He lied.
“Ah, okay! Let me know if you want to go! I’m probably going to go tomorrow as I have nothing better to do.” I explained. He chuckled. “Are you going to get wine again?” He asked, “Yes! What else do you think I’m going to get?” I asked, “I’m not sure. But you’re like Chibi! Completely obsessed with wine.” He muttered.
“Hey, that’s because wine is good!” I defended. “Mhm, sure it is.” He replied sarcastically. He gently placed his hand on my head and messed up my hair. “Oi! Do not mess up my hair! It already gets messed up enough!” I exclaimed. He laughed. “Oh, I’m sorry. Your hair just needed a bit of fixing.” He joked. “Shut up!” I groaned.
*Time skip...*
“W-What? What do you mean? Dazai should be at home!” I whispered. “He isn’t, L/N. I was hoping you’d know where he went...” Akutagawa muttered. “I-I’m sorry... I don’t. He didn’t seem to go anywhere other than home...” I whispered. He sighed. “Thank you, L/N. But I got to look for him.” Akutagawa concluded, as he bowed.
“Wait! Let me look with you.” I begged. “I’m sorry, but I don’t want to work with someone else.” He dismissed. “Wait!” I tried to stall. But Akutagawa was already walking away. I sighed in frustration. “Fuck!” I exclaimed as I stepped back into my apartment. “Why the fuck would he go somewhere...? He said he was going to be there... Unless...” I whispered.
‘Just... Be careful, okay..?’
I froze. “He didn’t leave The Port Mafia, did he...?” I whispered. “I know he didn’t like Mori, but...” I whispered. “He wouldn’t leave me, right...?” I whispered as I closed the door. I rushed towards my bedroom and opened the door. I rushed towards my phone and quickly sent off some texts.
(Y for Y/N, C for Chuuya)
Y: Dazai, where the hell are you? People are looking everywhere for you!
Y: Please, just answer. Some things are missing from your apartment, like essentials. So please, please at least tell me what’s going on.
Y: You wouldn’t leave me, right...?
I stopped texting him, as I got a text from Chuuya. I taped on the conversation, which revealed the familiar conversations we’ve had in the past, along with the new ones.
C: Hey, do you know where Dazai is? He isn’t in his apartment, nor is he in any of the places he normally goes to. I was hoping you’d know where he is, as he has some paperwork to finish. I can’t be doing everything for him, you know?
Y: I’m sorry... I don’t know where he is... Akutagawa came to my door a few minutes ago asking me where he is.
Y: Where’s Oda? Normally he’s with Oda, or possibly Ango. They were the other people Dazai talked to.
C: ....
C: You didn’t hear...?
Y: Hear what?
C:..I’m sorry to be the one to say this, but earlier today, Oda was killed... And Ango, he’s betrayed the Mafia. Did Dazai not tell you that?
Y:..What...? You’re joking, right? I just saw Oda earlier today!
C: I’m not...
C: I thought you’d know, as it spread through pretty quickly...
C: Are you there?
C: Hey, Y/N! Pick up the phone.
C: Y/N?
C: Hellooo?
C: I’m coming over.
I stood up and rushed towards my computer. I pulled up a new email and quickly sent something over to Mori. “There’s no way... how could Oda die...? He has kids! He wouldn’t do something too stupid! And Ango... He always seemed to work... Was all that a lie? Or did he just get sick of it?” I muttered aloud.
‘Just... Be careful, okay..?’
I clenched my fists. “He knows something... But why wouldn’t he tell me? I work in the same organization as he did... So... he would’ve told me, right? I mean something to him, don’t I?” I muttered aloud. I heard the bedroom door swing open, which caused me to jump. I glanced in the direction and saw Chuuya standing there.
“Y/N, why didn’t you respond??” Chuuya asked quickly. “I-I’m sorry... I didn’t... I didn’t think about that.” I muttered. He sighed. “You don’t think Dazai would leave, right...?” I whispered. He opened his mouth before closing it. “I think you need to rest. You’re clearly not doing okay.” he whispered as he walked over to me.
“You know something too, don’t you?” I asked, “About why Dazai isn’t around.” I added. He took a breath. “Y/N, I saw him. He explained, but I don’t think you’re in the right mindset t-” He tried to say. But I stood up. “I don’t care.” I spoke bluntly. “I want to know why he left.” I spoke clearly. “I-How about you sit down first? It might b-” He tried to speak.
“No.” I interrupted. “I want to know what’s so important, that he left me and everyone else with no explanation.” I explained. Silence took over for a moment. “Mori... He got Oda killed. He was told he’d get an oracle if someone could take down this organization. Mori knew they both had the same ability, so he chose Oda. But Oda wouldn’t fire for no reason, so Mori got him mad. That... Leader... Killed all of Oda’s kids, and he couldn’t save them. So... In the end, Oda died because of Mori.” Chuuya whispered.
“Oda said something to Dazai. He didn’t tell me what Oda said, but it made Dazai want to leave the Port Mafia. So that’s what he’s doing.” Chuuya explained. I growled and slammed my fist on the table. “Why the hell would he not tell me though!? We’ve been friends for so fucking long now!” I exclaimed.
“All he said was to be careful.” I whispered. “Okay, I think we need to calm down...” Chuuya whispered as he placed his hands on my shoulder. “Did that whole friendship mean nothing to him?” I questioned gently. I felt tears form in my eyes.
“Hey, no. It meant something to him. That’s why he didn’t bring you along. He doesn’t want you hurt, Y/N...” Chuuya whispered as he gently pulled me back. He turned me around and brought me into a hug. “Safe? Please! Being in the Mafia is still dangerous! Especially if Mori doesn’t care about his members...” I pointed out.
Chuuya didn’t respond. Instead, he brought me down to the floor and cradled me. “Even if that’s the case, I’ll protect you. I’m not going anywhere, Y/N.” He whispered. “I’m always here for you.” He added.
(Okay! There’s a small start to a new thing I’m doing. This is basically just some prologue before the next chapter. I don’t think this is going to be a full series, but I don’t know- I didn’t even expect to split this up into different parts, but it’s happening anyway. I hope you enjoy this new thing! Thank you for reading!)

Oh my God!! I had never thought of it that way, that’s awesome! Good catch, Kat :o
That is so true, we read Yozo’s life and deeds completely through his own eyes therefore we can’t treat it as an objective narrative. When this is combined with all the analyses you made yesterday, it’s all coming together and this is the best feeling ever, when I first read your response I went crazy with euphoria😭
And exactly! We can definitely distinguish these two narratives -Yozo’s and the woman’s- in the last scene under the sunset. Dazai, for some reason, always denies his good intentions and is “blinded to his better side” as you said and I totally adore this way of putting it. I really hope Atsushi will be able to bring him back to reality😔
I mean, of course he’s not the most snow white person out there, he still has really gray morals, but isn’t this already an incredible step considering that he was born in pitch black? He needs to see how much he’s achieved since then, but he still feels guilty and this totally blocks the good parts of his journey in his mind, which is probably why he always has that façade to keep him from breaking down. Just like how Yozo had this façade of “clowning” even though he was feeling empty inside all while entertaining people and seeming so cheerful. This clowning thing was a really beautiful parallelism between BSD Dazai and Yozo.
Exactly😭 For someone as traumatised as Atsushi, that poor cinnamon roll is really so precious with his amount of trust and kindness🥺 And yeah… There’s no way I would be able to 100% restore my trust for him -if I had it in the first place, of course, you never know with Dazai😂-, I would question constantly if he’s planning new things with several villains “for the sake of the city”, and this is just what Atsushi says, he denies this as well like what- then why😭 He owes a really good explanation to the ADA, tbh. I hope they treat this subject in S3 or I’ll get really mad if he just gets away with it as if people didn’t die because of his shenanigans😤
And oh my God! I never knew that! This is really intriguing, I’m totally on Dazai-sensei’s side on this matter, Run, Melos! will be so interesting to read :o And as always, I’d love to read your analysis on it😌
And that’s so true😞 His plans are always so complex and detailed that if the littlest thing goes wrong, it would all be over, I mean, trusting that Chuuya punches him in the face or he’ll die?? He’s really walking on thin ice there haha. Which, of course, comes with great stress. And omg I LOVED THAT ANALYSIS THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR SHARING💕 I reblogged it privately to come back to it whenever I start having doubts or feeling bad about Dazai which happened way too often even before Dead Apple, I just couldn’t keep a healthy relationship with him like I do with Kunikida I have no idea why this will really be a useful thing to come back to 💫 It pains me to see that how much he suffers in reality yet he’s not even able to acknowledge that it’s not his fault😞 (you can gimme all your analyses don’t be shy👀)
I’m planning on reading this one, it has several chapters and they all seem really explanatory. (I hope linking system works in asks🤔)
Exactly, I honestly used to miss all these about Akutagawa and just overlook him, consider him as a mere invincible rabid dog with an unhealthy obsession, whose ability is just to murder. But that’s not true at all, he’s more than his ability. To be honest, I think this movie made this sentence valid for everyone, especially if the ability is too strong, one always tends to consider them as their ability and nothing else, but that’s not true, their abilities are a part of them but they don’t assure their existence. Each one of them is more than their ability and I loved seeing that, I even felt sad when Aku regained his Rashōmon😭
Haha, always!!❤️ Never hesitate to share anything about any theory/headcanon you have, I love discussing them🥰
These asks and responses are getting longer and longer but I’m not complaining😂
Thank you so much!🥺 That makes me really happy that you said that!
And yes exactly! We have to make note that the novel is written in an I-novel narrative, and like all first person perspectives, they are unreliable. And "crazy with euphoria", that makes me so happy to hear😭💕
But yes, we can clearly see the distinct difference between how Yozo sees himself, vs how the woman sees him. (Side note: And one of the reasons why I love this book despite its dark themes and narratives, is that it talks about the goodness of humanity that still exists in even the worst people. Dazai-sensei's narration of Yozo is written in a way that almost makes us hate him. But we have to always be reminded that despite this, there are goodness, even in people like Yozo, which I felt is an amazing reminder) And his own blindness to his better side is obviously self-destructive, as seen in the novel, and I believe that if Dazai continues to see this way, he will not be able to heal despite following what Oda wants him to do. No, he first has to face his past, and as you said he has to recognize how far he has come, even though he is still learning, he is still changing. Like all other characters in Dead Apple, Dazai is also facing his past, or more so an introduction to having to face his past, as I believe that Atsushi had also said that he hopes that Dazai can put his past behind him or something similar to that. And I personally feel that Dazai would have a happy ending because unlike in the novel, he has someone (Atsushi) to remind him of his goodness, the fact that he can go beyond what he is in the past. I just love Dead Apple so much😭
And the clowning part breaks my heart too... In addition to being a facade to stop others from seeing how empty he is inside, which would deviate himself from being "human". It gives me a saddening understanding that Dazai is keeping everyone at a distance. Although he wants others to understand him, and his whole existence is basically a cry for help, he fears being hurt, or at least that's what I believe how Yozo thinks. And it should be noted that the act of clowning, can also be seen in The Setting Sun as well, which he once again uses a mask to attempt to blend into society, yet knowing that he'll still be different from the rest of them
Also one thing I also realized as I am writing this is how Dazai-sensei intentionally in a sense villanizes himself (as it is semi-biographical) as well as Yozo in No Longer Human, and I can't help but wonder if this is another parallel to Dead Apple?🤔
But unfortunately, the consequences of him making that meticulous plan which endangered everyone will not be resolved, as it should be noted that this is a sort of spinoff from the main storyline. But in a sense I like the ending it gave us, as it allows open interpretation. And I feel that it also might symbolize the fact that all the main characters in the movie are still growing, are still learning and are continuing on their paths to face their pasts... And what I think is also quite important to note that is there's also a sense of trust Dazai gives to the people involved in his plans, he trusts them to make that exact move to make his plan whole. And also, what also makes me sad is that Dazai seems to be asking for forgiveness for what he did during dead apple, at least that's what it sounds like to me as he said: "Atsushi what I did earlier-"
And I totally agree that it is impossible to restore full trust back to Dazai. That itself is impossible, for it is a disillusionment, it is a stage you cannot go back to. But and I agree with Dazai-sensei, I believe that this could help Dazai see the better parts of humanity like when he said to Oda, that the good side is really more beautiful.
And I'm so glad to know that you want to save it🥺 It can definitely be hard to see Dazai's good side at times, he is quite confusing and is easily misunderstood ngl. But sometimes I think he intentionally does that so no one can see through his true intentions, to keep himself at a distance, while at the same time wanting others to see through him, to help him😔
And oo thank you for the analysis! I'll definitely have to read it soon☺ Also if you have any analysis that you'd like to discuss or want me to know, feel free to drop them in my ask box as well!
And yes exactly! That about Aku is so beautifully said.
And honestly I'm not complaining either haha. These have been quite fun🥰

18 from the prompt list for our sucide maniac?💗💗💗
dazai + dépaysement (french, n.) the feeling one gets of not being in one’s own country, of being a foreigner; disorientation, being lost in something you don’t understand.
➽─{hehe great choice… heads up, this fic assumes you don’t hail from japan. feel free to pick another country if you do}─❥
warning(s): angst parading as fluff
Tumblr media
Dazai took to your home country surprisingly well. In fact, you were shocked when he made the decision to join you so readily. But your beloved didn’t care if it was a job offer or family business or mere homesickness that brought you back—all he cared about was that someone or something was trying to take you away from him. There was no debate; he would leave with you. Wherever you went, he decided he would go, too.
Having lived in Yokohama city for most of his life, Dazai was quickly engrossed by the wonders of your country, the flow (or lack thereof) of your seasons, the little quirks and idiosyncrasies of your region. It was as if he up and forgot about Yokohama Cosmoworld and Minato Mirai 21 and the port to Tokyo Bay. In their stead, he learned everything he could about the place you grew up. It delighted you to no end. Who wouldn’t want such a devoted boyfriend, one who wished for nothing more than to stay by your side?
You were downright spoiled, if truth be told.
One of your favorite moments of the day was waking up in the morning. Every time you opened your eyes to peek at Dazai, he would─without fail─be up and admiring your sleepy face already. His fingers would often dance a safe distance around your head, restraining themselves from tracing the curves of your face. It was the drowsy yet proud smile he wore that made your heart swell several sizes.
Some mornings you giggled at the sight of his pantomime, often against your own will. Even in his silence, you could hear him loud and clear: “I can barely keep my hands off of you.”
Some mornings he’d have to work for your laughter. On the occasion you awoke with closed eyelids, you knew better than to let the opportunity go to waste. Pretending you were still asleep, you peered at Dazai through snake slit slivers, hoping to observe him observing you in secret. But your efforts were for naught; he knew you all too well. Dazai would center himself in your limited line of sight and pull the silliest faces, determined to get a reaction out of you. Of course, you’d end up laughing all the same.
Some mornings you rolled right into him and asked what he was thinking about. He’d reply with a sappy sweet little nothing like how lucky he was to have you or how the sun didn’t hold a candle to your beauty. You’d laugh it off, shooting back something about how you were even luckier, or how you and the sun looked like itsy bitsy fireflies compared to his light. And every time, no matter what novel new counter you came up with, he’d tell you to drop the self slander.
“Oh, darling,” he’d say, leaning into you. “Don’t talk about things you don’t understand. I promise I most definitely love you more.” Sealing his vows with a firm forehead kiss, he made you fall for him again and again, over and over and over.
You were blind to the amount of hurt that lurked behind those words... just as you were unaware of Dazai’s true nighttime habits. They were nothing salacious, god no─but learning of them might still break your heart. Because all the nights you thought he was sleeping in bed next to you, he was actually wide awake.
As the moonlight shone upon your eyelids, Dazai would spend his nights looking out the window, wondering what the Yokohama sky looked like. Was it a peachy white? A baby blue? A dusty mauve? Even as the moon passed out of sight, he would obsess over this one idea for hours on end.
An ocean blue? A twilight purple? An amber set aflame, as it was the exact moment he found Oda’s bleeding body?
There was no relief from the thought of Oda once it entered his mind. Dazai would try to distract himself, wondering if he was missed by those he left behind. After all, Kunikida might be getting rather lonely without his inventive pranks.
Oh, who else might miss him? Atsushi, whom he was supposed to mentor? Akutagawa, whom he already mentored? But eventually, Dazai’s thoughts would travel in full circle.
Odasaku, whose grave he used to pay regular visits to?
It was always at the most ungodly of hours that his vividest memories of Yokohama came flooding back: the physical fights, the psychological battles. The taking of life and the saving of it. Dazai had blood on his hands: the blood of his enemies, the blood of his friends. He owned hands that he believed were only good for committing and solving crimes, hands that served little purpose but to cuddle and coddle you now.
Every facility that Dazai had come to know as home was stripped away from him the moment he agreed to move with you. There was no such thing as a Port Mafia or an Armed Detective Agency in your area, no place he could feel like he truly belonged in. The streets looked different, the buildings unfamiliar. The path he should take was indiscernible. Any which way he could turn, he was met with something alien. Any way but your direction.
That’s what it all came down to: you or Yokohama. Yokohama or you. But the one other close confidant he had in the city laid six feet under for years, and Dazai knew better than most that the dead did not rise from the ground, did not crawl from their deathbeds and upheave their tombstones. His last chance at companionship seemed to be you and you alone.
So Dazai played his sleepless nights off as if he was always waking up before you, ready to welcome you to a new day. As time wore on he would continue his cycle of all-nighter after all-nighter, fueled only by the happiness his performance seemed to bring you. Without a hint of homesickness he ate the strange foods you fed him and the foreign clothes you provided him with. Not a single complaint ever escaped his lips; in fact, anything he said about your country was likely the exact opposite of how he truly felt. It was all he could do to hold tight to this handcrafted facade, showering you with his affections so you might never notice how disoriented and estranged he really felt.
Like a lovesick puppy, Dazai clung to your reciprocations and doted on your every move. He faked, he feigned, he falsified. He did it for years.
Absolutely anything if it meant holding on to you.

Random Bungou Stray Dogs AUs
In which my brain refuses to sleep and instead makes random aus in the middle of the night : part 2 electric boogalo
Some of these might not make sense, I'm not claiming otherwise. It's my brain having fun again. please send help. I'm mostly doing this to get it out of my system, but I hope you guys enjoy it. May contain spoilers.
Assassin!Fem!Atsushi meets a young orphaned homeless boy named Kyoka, who reminds her of her old self, after saving the said boy from a gang the mercenary/assassin was hired to eliminate. Kyoka met his saviour, who comes in the form of a beautiful lady with hair the colour of the moon and heterochromia eyes and turns to a graceful tiger under the moonlight. He decided to follow the lady after she gives him a reason to live. Atsushi becomes mentor and a familial figure as a result.
Oda Sakunosuke didn't expect to wake up again, especially in a cage, nor did he expect to become a tiger, who's also coincidentally a young orphan named Atsushi who's badly treated by basically everyone around him. He takes it to his duty to take care of the young boy, despite being a probably haunting spirit and the boy being probably his reincarnation, but hey, details. On the bright side, he's kind-of a tiger now? (Oda reincarnates as Atsushi, with a twist.)
Different abilities, and consequently, different roles and personalities au (not completely though). In which everyone's abilities are different and named under a different name based on a different book of the authors. Kyoka's Ruby Mist allows her to cast hallucinations/illusions of her target's worse fears/regrets/nightmares. Atsushi is now a doctor, but he looks like a patient Because his rare healing ability, Light, Wind and Dreams, can only activate when his patients are unconscious and he is injured. Kyoka sometimes help to knock them out, gleefully, and worries over the doctor/brother figure who gets too injured and tired for her own liking. Dazai, with his ability of the Setting Sun, probably has a bit (lot) of a crush on the young doctor, and worries for him just as much. Ranpo snickers. Kyoka and Atsushi met and joined ADA early.
Everyone is somehow related to one another. Fukuzawa has blood relations to Atsushi, Dazai and Ranpo are chaotic cousins, Yosano and the Tanizaki siblings are distant relatives, and no one can figure out how Kenji and Kunikida are related.
Abilities becomes humans as a result of an ability. (Inspired by Dead Apple) Abilities now have human forms and are sentient. Atsushi is baffled to see his look-alike that has tiger features with a foul mouth yet acts kinda overprotective over him, but he's still a little shit. Dazai's ability becomes a young woman who looks eerily like Dazai but has the personality of a calm and straight headed person who can manifest chains. Kyoka meets Yukinoshita/Demon Snow and talks to the kind lady/ability, who looks very similar to her mother. Kouyou joins with Golden Demon as well. Chuuya is baffled by Arahabaki, who politely requests popcorn and acts very regal, but is still very much amused by the turn of events. No one can tell Rashomon's gender (*looks at Gin*), but they're definitely calm and kinda Victorian? Very attached to their master. They don't mix well with Taiga (a foul-mouthed lone tiger who gets pissed 24/7 and has zero-manners), the beast, surprise surprise. No Longer Human, gets tired of having to restrain them sometimes so they don't destroy the cafe.
Karl isn't a raccoon, but a Tanuki thank you very much. The youkai get a kick of watching his owner baffled of his feelings to the green-eyed detective.
Soukoku, shin soukoku and their mentors swap places. Fukuzawa gets annoyed of Mori, a mafia member who has an uncharacteristic grudge on him and obsession with his sister(?), and becomes shin soukoku somehow. Akutagawa and Atsushi are now Soukoku and likes to snark to each other about edgy and punk hair and how they would love to see them riddled in bullets ("I hope you die via bullets!" "The feeling is mutual jinko."). Chuuya is tired, he's getting too old for this, Dazai is amused, no matter the age.
Sakura survives and inherits Odasaku's ability to see the future. She is now determined to somehow save people by her new-found ability while trying to push her traumatic memories away. She still misses her father and her siblings very much. She meets some detectives along the way, not knowing that the green-eyed one has met her father before, but the new detective with bandages seems familiar...
Atsushi's healing ability isn't his. He maybe a were-tiger, but his healing ability comes from someone else, who died trying to protect him. He only notices when he tries to find his parents, and finds out of of his family members has an ability, Light, Wind and Dreams, which they somehow transferred to Atsushi when he was a mere baby. He doesn't know how to react to this, now knowing he has two gifts.
More to come probably, knowing the mess that is my brain. Feel free to go crazy with these suggestions.

Late in the night, when Meursault is plunged in darkness, Kunikida's face blooms before him from the shadows.
Dazai lays on his back and watches each piece unfurl―wire rims perched atop the bridge of his slender nose; behind his glasses, eyes like moss-covered stone. Like the smell of the earth after it rains.
In these moments he remembers the last night he was home. Kunikida's hair was unbound, splayed in a halo around his head, cheeks rosy, his breath leaving his parted lips in shallow puffs that brushed soft and warm against Dazai's chin. Carefully, he had plucked the glasses from Kunikida's brow and set them aside before moving back in to slot their lips together. Dazai remembers fingers sliding downward to strip him of bandages and grips the threadbare sheets of his stiff cot.
As if on cue, his thoughts are interrupted by thin, reedy laughter.
"He's dead, you know," Fyodor calls from his cell. Dazai can't see him, but he can picture the smug look on his face all the same, clear as the clinical fluorescent lights that substitute for daylight in their underground prison.
"If that's what you think, then you have a piss-poor source on the outside," Dazai replies smoothly. "Maybe I shouldn't even bother to shut them down―it sounds like they're doing my job for me."
Fyodor chuckles. "You were much better at bluffing when you were in the mafia, Dazai."
"And you were never any good at bluffing at all," Dazai retorts. "Go back to sleep, Dostoyevsky. Sometimes even I need a break from you."
"How can I," Fyodor huffs, "when you're over there fantasizing so loudly that the whole prison can hear you?"
Dazai rolls his eyes and ignores him, instead summoning the image of Kunikida back into his mind―his head thrown back against the pillow of Dazai's futon as they moved, rocking against each other in waves. Sighs becoming low moans as they crash towards the inevitable edge they’re both so desperate to fall over―
"Do you know why I targeted him?" Fyodor's voice slithers deadly across the stagnant air like a snake in the desert.
"That's easy," Dazai answers, lips tipped in the secret smile he saves for the dark. "He's the soul of the agency. The most virtuous of all of us sinners. You already had our leader out of commission―break Kunikida-kun and the rest of us are just stray dogs let loose in the city, biting at the ankles of anyone who wanders past our alley."
“Incorrect,” Fyodor says matter-of-factly.
Dazai frowns and opens his mouth to call him on such an obvious bluff, but Fyodor elects to elaborate without prompting. “Your agency did quite well without him―they managed to keep the Port Mafia at bay, even eliminated the acting boss from the equation―all without you, your leader, and your virtuous idealist." Fyodor enunciates this contemptuously, as if the very idea offends him.
"Breaking his spirit certainly made things harder for your agency, but what if it had been the arrogant detective? The tiger boy?" A rustling noise echoes from Fyodor's cell, and Dazai realizes he must have shaken his head. "Targeting him did not hinder the agency nearly as much as targeting either of those two would have―but your first mistake was operating under the assumption that the agency was my target."
Dazai's blood runs cold. "Then who was your target?" he asks, even as he has already put the pieces together.
"Tell me, Dazai", Fyodor answers, voice dripping with poisoned sweetness. "When it was all over, and he was released from imprisonment over the death of that poor little girl―what was he like when he came home to you?"
Dazai shudders in his cot as he recalls that night―it was late when Kunikida had finally slipped into Dazai's apartment, silent as death. Dazai, burrowed in a blanket on the couch half-asleep, waiting for him to come home, rose from the cushions.
"Welcome home, Kunikida-kun," Dazai said, wobbling towards him.
Kunikida had barely acknowledged him, his face a tight mask as he stepped out of his shoes. Dazai reached for him and Kunikida stiffened for a moment before leaning into his touch and closing his eyes.
"Come to bed," Dazai murmured into the heavy broadcloth of Kunikida's waistcoat.
Kunikida buried his nose in Dazai's hair and nodded. "I'll meet you there―I need to use the restroom first."
He unpeeled himself Dazai's embrace and surged towards the bathroom, shutting the door behind him with a discordant click.
Instead of listening to the warning bell jangling in the back of his brain, Dazai remembers stumbling to his bedroom to wait for Kunikida in the warmth of his futon. There, the pain medication he was still taking for the bullet wound in his gut had lulled him into an uneasy sleep. When he woke again, his thoughts sluggish, it took him several moments to realize that there were two things amiss.
One was that Kunikida wasn't in bed with him.
The second was that the sink in the bathroom was still running.
Alertness hit him like a tidal wave, and he shot out of the futon, nearly tripping as he scrambled towards the bathroom. He gripped the door handle and he found it locked.
"Kunikida-kun?" he called, pounding fruitlessly on the door. Faintly, beneath the rush of water, he could hear Kunikida mumbling. "Kunikida-kun please answer me."
Swearing, Dazai abandoned the door to paw at the trenchcoat he had draped lazily over the couch earlier. He dug through the pockets frantically until he unearthed a hairpin, then lurched back to the bathroom door and inserted the hairpin into the lock with shaky hands.
"I'm coming in, Kunikida-kun," he announced as the lock clicked beneath his fingers.
He twisted the doorknob and pushed.
Kunikida stood hunched over the sink, rubbing his hands beneath the faucet. "Can't get it off," he muttered to himself, over and over like a mantra, as he scrubbed desperately at the pink skin, so raw that blood began to bead in some places before washing away in the steaming water.
"Ku... Kunikida…" Dazai trailed off. Slowly, he turned off the faucet and tugged gently at Kunikida's wrists to pull his hands apart.
Kunikida turned to Dazai and looked at him as if he didn't recognize him. Tears fell down his cheeks in a steady stream, though he gave no other indication of crying―no shuddering gasps or hitching of his breath, no wobbling lips. His hair hung limply over his forehead, his ponytail dishevelled as if someone had gripped it tightly.
"There's still blood," he said, voice deceptively calm. He pulled his wrists from Dazai's loose grasp and held up his hands so that Dazai could see the blood that had emerged from the abused skin. "There's still so much blood."
He looked at Dazai with such a familiar wildness in his grey-green eyes that Dazai was struck with intense deja vu and for a split second he saw Oda before him rather than Kunikida.
He froze, trembling, as blood dripped down the back of Kunikida's hands and landed in small, wet plops on the linoleum.
"You've made so many mistakes in your life, Dazai," Fyodor croons, his honeyed voice pulling Dazai from the spiral of memories. "But the biggest of these was believing that anyone you love is safe from the curse that is your wretched, miserable life.”
Fyodor laughs again—so loudly that it reverberates off the nearby cells as if a hundred Fyodors are laughing, high and cruel.
Wordlessly, Dazai turns away from Fyodor and tries to reconjure the images that had soothed him on so many of these lonely nights in prison. Instead, all he sees is Kunikida, covered in blood, dead and alone and so very far away from him.

Their Party grew, Yosano Akiko a child gifted with life, but blinded by death, and Ranpo Edogawa blessed by Life. Illusioned his luck and intelligence to be a Seer himself. Their bonds grew, even if Yukichi wanted nothing do with it. He fell for their Oracle, as Mori matched his moves.
After the war had ended, so did the oracle’s journey. She died within the eyes of the king Wolf and his fellow allies. Mourning the lost of the voice, her body set to the lake within the forest, who then became the deity of Tranquility. Kouyou The Mother of Tranquility.
Mother had stayed within the forest, as she was seen by a child enraptured by the God of Calamity. The child however was bitter after his exile from his birth, he was a child bawling his eyes, the young youth had seen no purpose in his life. A whole village decimated by the monster within himself. An elven child had lost all rights to heaven. Only to feel warmth of Mother. Mother had a pacifying effect over the hatred. He stayed by mother and mother let him in her arms.
Mother had chose to protect the location of the Summoning temple, in which she must give her freedom to the cult. The Cult of the man who had been mourned with his daughter the closest thing to the women he loved. He had kept part of her before her body was set to sink into the lake. That created his obsession of “their” daughter Elise. The man would not let go. It was unfair to him, as he slain the mad king of the country of Portima, The Crescent Crest.
Chuuya Nakahara was the village’s small cult by few worshipper of the god of calamity, Arabahaki. They live for centuries while maintaining their youthful appearance, dark elves with their feature of long sharp ears. They are the storytellers of endless times, the archives of history. Segregated by their nature of rumors as dark elves; fictional creatures. During the reign of the sun dictator’s reign, asked for their offering of their alignance by marrying one of their women to cultivate the ultimate heir. A rebellious orphan, he was seen and only one to escape with the tragedy befallen him. Given at least one day to finalize their thoughts, they went to work to their God in hopes to save themselves. They had to give up a child to leave behind; Chuuya Nakahara. Invested him to take in as the host for their god to disappear once again. Leaving him alone again.
The outside country had fooled the young child and left him within the barrier of their mage setted up. A sacrifice of an sick and scrawny, they did it in return if retribution to the goddess. Atsushi was forced to be appointed the counter guardian by the Goddess, as his appointed role of the goddess temple protecting the resting place of hers. As it was made under her name and she blessed it. However pitted the young child and gave it a holy form. What the mortals irresponsible actions did not speak for the goddess. So she accompanied him within his slumber. Her warmth has protected him, till his forgotten centuries and one day he is needed.
Kyoka Izumi, was the Heir of the imperial princess of snow and the warlord sun. Her mother was intended to be arranged to keep the two allied. The man was a feared by many who crossed his path, instilling his power over her and her mother. She lived to fear her ancestors who follow binded by spirit to protect her. In fact the grandmother; the imperial mother. Each generation must bond with an ancestral spirit, her abilities alongside summoning.
Saint Oda Sakunosuke was gifted sight as a Seer. An Oracle is both equal to 2 seers. If he were a Seer someone else must have the same gift as he did. One thing he cannot see is how he truly ends, but only prevent minimum events. He saughted out children during the wreckage, housing them within his own church. In which he was promised protection if he did them favors. Predictions and small travel trading. He had befriended a spy Ango Sakaguchi and a man who called himself Merlin. Who trusted him with his true name Osamu Dazai. He knew to be weary around Ango, but his emotions got the best of him as he died by the other Seer. But within sacrificing of the seers was for the cause between the CULTure of Portima and the Government of the Rising Sun. Mori true purpose was to get an Oracle after two Seers dying in the same temple. Oda, his children were with him, his Goddess let him live happily with them, after
Dazai Osamu, did not trust many, after his mother left him alone after a night with a mortal mage. His Father died after that night, he was left to wear his father’s place. His mother was a beautiful succubus, who had charmed and left her son to pass on for eternity. He wouldn’t even die if anything tries, as her son taken suicidal tendencies after the father who purposely summoned his mother. Maybe it was because he aligns to light magic, purification or nullification . To die with a beautiful woman any day. Joined the cult, after being welcomed by Mori for the heck of it, felt more comfortable with Saint Odasaku. Only to be more driven to death after his human emotions affecting him deeper into depression and granting a wish/promise of the Seer. Leaving the cult to journey to the kingdom of Portima.
Ango Sakaguchi, was the double knot spy in the ranks of the government and the mafia during the dragonhead.
Tanizaki Junichirou was fated to be king of his own kingdom, that was when his Sister Naomi first prophesied his fate. They were born from the sun district, after the warlord of sun was overthrown by the villagers of the oppression.
The Central city of the rising Sun was not trusted, in which the King of Ardect; Fukuzawa Yukichi had once knew the first Oracle. He knew the Importance of the Oracle second coming, seeing that the past 2 seers set against each other. He had high suspicions of what Mori had done, in which he swiftly taken them hidden into arms of his court. He truly did become king, as Fate predicted. His shoulders weighed by the royal cloak of the past king’s spirit by his throne. He was truly lucky to have Kunikida as his scholar and his second in command. Yosano who lead battle and saved many before death. Their Wise tactician blessed by the god themselves, Ranpo Edogawa. Kenji was the representation of the friendship of the villagers of a small village, blessed highly for their youthism and strength. Junichirou was a King and Knight in training. Their purpose in hidden objective to protect both the blessing and eyes of the gods; Ranpo and Naomi.
Naomi Tanizaki was the Village Girl who danced for her passion. She was dedicated to her king; both Fukuzawa and Junichirou. Her own personification of a clingy sister to derail many to expect her to be holy Oracle. Her truth is how serious she becomes, she is wise as how she learns to change how she acts around people. She defined as a childish, bold and bright. But really, she guilty even if her brother shakes off her reasonable actions. It was the only way to not be suspected as one. After all Mori's cultivated obsession to the gods.
Kyūsaku Yumeno the prince who destroyed his own kingdom by the curse borned Q crippled his name. A prince hated by his small country. Why his mother died because of his birth prematurely. But he shared the face the king loved from his wife. He could not help decide how he felt about his only son and heir to the throne. Whether he hated him for what he was out of his control of the past or loved him for the current result of the love between his wife. He remained ignorant to the abuse and hatred of people even the staff. The boy however broken out of his broken shell to lose sense of mind. Tormented back every person with his curse, paying back what they did to him dying in pain. The last one to die was his father, he did not do anything to stop or tried to prevent the whole event to ever exist. Here all he had to do was hurt him to die for his penitence of his ignorance. He teared up, his curse did not kill his father. His father had died from a broken heart because he loved him. Leaving the prince to cry in the place of his own father “Why didn't you hit me, hurt me, yell at me and bruise me?! Why did you make me hurt in such a way!?!” Portima picked him up, grew the territory of their land.
The Akutugawa Siblings. Loving family and children blessed with a noble family. The oldest son Ryuusuke, loved his sister Gin. Gin was named after an adoptive peasant mother who was well loved for the father who was the orphan taken in by her. Ryuusuke was born sick, His lungs struggling with asthma, his respiratory failure thankfully for His father being able to get a doctor to help. Only to be prescribed doses of medication 2 times a day. Which made Gin the first to the name to the company, yet they're both able to share the title. Ryuunosuke will always be the spare to Gin. Yet happiness still born in their hearts. His father owns his success and struggle rising to his name. He saw where he stood and stranded with wealth, a childhood for his children. Jealousy ensued by other noble who saw nothing but filthy peasant with money. Waiting for their maid to give Ryuusuke his dose of medication before they both went to sleep. Their family dog Russell barking at the door, until a man in black swung at with force. You could insinuate the dog's skull was cracked from such brute force. Snatched Ryuusuke, they knew well that he couldn't go against him and struggle. His illness was his weakness, he tire easily from exercise. Which was why he relied on his magic orb tied at his hip when he needed things. Gin was the stronger and healthier one tries to take him away from the man. Only to be knocked out and over by the column of the bed. She was taken as well. So that night, the scent of ash and warm of the fire burning the manor. Ryuusuke watched as their parents burned down with the manor. He had seen dead eyes of children, their life sucked from their own leaving him with no one to even speak to him. He felt the cold prick of human contact of magic snapping him from consciousness. He found himself chained to an alter, fear bulging from eyes from the crowd of strange dark cloaks and masks. Their pupils dilating with insanity, you couldn't count how many sacrificial knives. Polished and the gleam from the candle lights from the dimming candelabra. They were speaking Latin, strange proverbs of words. The leader rose his knife over their heads with both hands and roughly jabbed into his heart. He SCREAMED! The first time he screamed, his lungs never gave out, as his air was fear and pain. Blood, Blood, BLOOD!
A demon did come to His table, he made his contract before the selfish did stole away his life. His monstrous power was called Rashōmon.
Gin was not there where Ryuusuke woken to become a corruption of a vessel to a demon dog. Who ate and swallowed him whole from his heart and soul. He made a deal to seek revenge, power and find his sister. Gin was shipped into slavery, she could have become a slave if a pirate hadn't raided the ship she was on and took away their merchandise. The Black Lizards; Ryūrō Hirotsu the captain of the ship. He had taken in the child, taught her how to live and become how she will become. A commander and assassin for the black lizard.
Higuchi Ichiyou. A spoiled brat, compared to her reliable younger sister who was closer to being chosen for her coronation instead of her. Selfish as she may be and a father who knew what was best. As their father chose to be peaceful and small nation. During the true mad king of Portima demanded the decimation and won. They had no choice but to join the Portima. Higuchi finally stood up to be responsible older sister. She cut her beloved hair and took up archery. She may have fallen for Ryunosuke Akutagawa.

Sarazanmai 3 - 6 | Fruits Basket 2 - 7 | OPM 2 2 - 7 | BSD 3 3 - 6 | Demon Slayer 4 - 7 | Shield Hero 17 - 20
I’ll be rolling out the tags around about the time of this post.
Sarazanmai 3
Kisu = kissu (kiss). Update: Or kisu (on the right side of my equation). You do you, subbers.
Goma-ae.
Gomennassara! (Oh, I get it…!)
It never occurred to me that a “micanga” was a bead or small pierced round object of some sort. I thought it was a race track sort of thing, but for soccer. Update: It’s a bracelet/anklet thing.
Wait, so what brought on this change of heart from Kazuki??? Is it like the 1st episode, where it was a daydream that was cleverly presented as real? Update: Yep.
Oh…have you noticed all the victims of Reo and Mabu’s scheme are men of the NEET/freeter age, or approaching that?
Notably, the signature pose of the Sarazanmai seems to be similar to the one Kazuki and Enta did in the soccer team.
I find it interesting that Enta is now the initiator of the Sarazanmai and thus the one to steal the shirikodama. I mean, he used to be the one with the least stakes in the Dish of Hope scenario…and now look at him!
Ooh, Toi is sharpening his ruler! (Or whatever you do in Touken Ranbu with that lil’ beater of his.)
Oh wait, I forgot Ikuhara always has a last-minute twist! Go back, go back!
It seems like Haruka has some kind of illness…hmm. Update: Oh, it’s not an illness per se…spoke too soon.
Haruka’s talking about the Little Prince…hmm. Last time I really bothered to engage with that story in any form was Star Driver.
Fruits Basket 2
I don’t think I ever really chose a side on the Kyo vs Yuki debate, but I guess I always subtly sided with Yuki (even though the end pairing is Tohru and *bleep*). <- sorry, had to censor myself
“It’s important for me to get to school every day!”
Kabedon! Eeeeee! (LOL, I really am a squealy person at heart, aren’t I?)
The writing says “she misheard [what Yuki said] as ‘being sick’”, so it was quite lucky that the word “sickened” worked in context.
Yuki has some mad ninja skills…LOL.
Shigure in a suit looks goooooooooood, man (<- gender neutral use of “man”).
“…the days ahead will be fun.” – Oh, Tohru, you don’t know how wrong you are…(says someone who completed the manga)
Fruits Basket 3
I’m hearing the OP for the first time…and it sounds like an ED. (Probably because I read some impressions that said the same thing earlier today.)
“…included in the zodiac?”
Ooh! Momiji! Wait, er…I didn’t expect him to be so high-pitched…
Lookit the tiny cat icon on the side! It’s cute!!!
*yells* It’s Kagura!!!!!!!! She ain’t my favourite, but man, is it great to see another familiar face!
I’ve been wondering what the title meant when it said “what year is she?” It means “year of the zodiac”.
Fruits Basket 4
“Shii-chan”…?
Kyo-kun ran away before Kagura even started making dinner…
Was Kyo’s katsudon a joke…? (Cats-udon, geddit?...No?)
“…marriage is a girl’s greatest dream.” – That used to be so, Tohru…nowadays, it ain’t.
Lookit how Kyo’s eyes lit up when he talks about his teacher!
OPM 2 2
That title’s…even more counterintuitive than “OPM 2 1”…hmm.
It’s…kind of dark right now.
I think there was bourbon on the counter. Someone likes to drink around here…
I guess with the mass animation exodus, OPM seems kinda…monologue-y. And cheap…
…nope, I take back my words. They were merely saving up for this action scene.
BSD 28 (S3 Ep 3)
Seriously, what are those metal things Dazai was wearing? Anyways, I like how it’s absolutely the norm that Chuuya swears now and I was part of forming that. Because I don’t swear a lot, I think Chuuya makes a nice outlet for my own frustrations...that’s what could be said, anyway.
D’aww. Someone acknowledges Chuuya’s identity. Ain’t that grand? (Now you see why I like Chuuya more than Dazai these days, huh?)
Come to think of it…a person hasn’t died in this show for a while, have they? It just goes to show you that despite one of its major stars being a guy obsessed with shinjuu (double suicide), the creators seem to be emphasising the sanctity of life itself.
Oh, I never thought they had an explanation for Dazai’s coat…
What is the age difference between Chuuya and Dazai anyway??? They’re both 15 during the LN that’s called that, but the exact difference…what is it? Update: Dazai’s birthday is June 19th and Chuuya’s is April 29th, so the difference is 1 month and 21 days (using the idea that 7 days = a week and May is 30 days, that’s 51 days in all).
Ooh, we’re getting Fyodor, Ace and the unnamed kid soon, aren’t we? That also means we’re in unknown territory for myself, too…hmm.
OPM 2 3
When did Saitama last meet Charanko anyway? Charanko is voiced by Toshiki Masuda, so I would’ve kept an eye out for him, but the art shift and the years between seasons mean I don’t remember anymore.
Oof, “justice crashed Mumen Rider’s head” is more like it.
CGI banana…Just saying “CGI banana” is funny.
Kimetsu no Yaiba 4
Headpats, headpats all around!
Hooo…boy. I already knew Sabito and Makomo were dead because Crow and Irina’s collab post was called “The Names of Dead Children”, but how it was delivered…was such a powerful move.
I saw the blonde boy who’s in the OP…hmm. Update: His name is Zenitsu, according to the next-ep preview.
OPM 2 4
When comparing this dissection of monsters against Mob Psycho…the biggest monster Mob has is himself…hmm.
I didn’t expect Saitama to actually enter under Charanko’s name with that wig he got…
“…name as a martial artist.”
Mojo for the dojo, it seems this man wants.
I think the centipede senpai is CGI. Hmm…
It’s been years…I’ve forgotten what Ponytail Head’s name is! (And I call OPM one of my favourite series in anime…!)
Sarazanmai 4
“Writers exist between life and death.” – …is Ikuhara expressing his own thoughts on how anime writers are treated…?
I anticipate a soba pun (soba = noodles and soba = beside [someone]).
“…gives a s***…” – Says you, Toi, with the “Golden Poop” in the background. Then again, that’s just an English pun. Don’t mind me.
Comic Sans…you can’t escape it, even in this day and age…
Yude = to boil, soba…is the noodles. (The “o” on the end of the Monster of the Week’s first name means “man”.) Ikuhara uses Monster of the Week names in service of symbolism, while Takamatsu uses inconsistency for the sake of humour.
Intetestingly, there’s a spiralling blue thing in the background of the dance number and it says “soba” (katakana) and “desire” (yokubou, in kanji).
The headline translates to “Tragedy! It was next to me, but then…” (Kigeki! Sakki made soba ni ita noni…) The subbers had to accommodate the soba pun though, so they went with “so bar away”.
Hmm…now Toi takes centre stage…
2007, huh? How old are Kazuki and co. again?
This is probably the least surprising secret of all, y’know. Also, I think Keppi and Kazuki have cucumbers in their mouths.
They have subs for Stand By Me now!!! Oh mai globbb!
W-Wuh?! I can see why he’d hate Haruka (feelings of “why don’t my parents look at me the way they look at him anymore?”), but…this really turns this entire story on its head!
Kimetsu no Yaiba 5
Interestingly, the “My” in the episode title is Onore (an “I” indicating professionalism).Come to think of it…what is Tanjiro’s pronoun of choice?
Aww…the fact Tanjiro kinda looks like the demon’s (previous body’s…?) bro made the scene kinda cute. Possibly, it could be even enough to drive someone to tears…not that I was driven to tears, of course.
Well, here’s Zenitsu.
This angry kid reminds me of Mike Teevee (from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). He seems like a rival, but he’ll disappear soon enough. Also, LOL, a sparrow instead of a crow.
“…my whole body hurts.” – Welp, that’s what happens when you lose sleep fighting demons for 7 days straight…
Why the obvious names? (re: Haganezuka – that is, hagane means “steel”…also, Nichirin contains the character for “sun” (at least, I think so…?) and Yoko can be understood to be/homophonous to the word for “sunlight”)
Tanjiro, son of Tanjuro…LOL. That was probably deliberate – it means the first son follows in the father’s footsteps.
For some reason, I wanted Haganezuka to pop out of the comic for the next-ep preview…aww.
Shield Hero 17
How many times did Fitoria say “I’m going to kill the heroes” and Naofumi say variants of “no”? Because of that, I had half a mind to jump ship and head to RobiHachi instead…but keep going.
That cowlick stuff was probably the most fun I’ve had with this show in a while…heh.
Oh great…Naofumi expanded his pseudo-harem to two bird waifus…then again, I had a stupid grin on my face seeing Fitoria’s old master, so maybe it’s not all bad, y’know?
Post-credits scene…keep watching!
Wah-wait…what the heck was that explosion???!!!
BSD 29 (S3 Ep 4)
That’s…Topaz (unofficial name)…ohhhhhhhh dear…
Oooh, Katai! Katai! Yay!!! (As you can tell, I had a very small thing for Katai. He reminds me of En-chan, y’see.)
The CGI in this OP…you can tell there’s quite a bit of it, huh?
It’s Deadmau5 (as the fandom used to joke)!
Fyodor’s eyes of disgust as Topaz dries his hair…hmm.
Older Topaz looks surprisingly like Oda…I don’t remember that exact shot, but it might’ve been in the manga. His background also reminds me of Chuuya’s.
OPM 2 Ep 4 (OPM 18)
“Irksome insect”…says the giant insect.
I think I saw a 7-11 pastiche in the background.
Why does the bird have a human hand in his belly? What??? (LOL)
This tournament arc don’t feel so hype, now that MHA’s is over…
Someone likes Donkey Kong… (referring to Marshal Gorilla and the other Kong guy (Heavy Kong))
Sarazanmai 5
…oh wow. Y’mean Kazuki is adopted???
“Why don’t you say anything, even though you know about me now?” (from Toi) – Probably because Kazuki is as f***ed up as you are, if not worse.
What are those sparkles coming off Sara’s face…? Not sure if they’re a shoujo thing or just…gratuitous sparkles.
LOL, Nioino Fukuro. Basically “pouch of scent” when you insert a space between the second I and the second N and change the first name kanji, plus change the “no” to hiragana.
I know the title of the song is Kawausoiya (translates to “awful otters” or something like that), but “soiya” doesn’t make much sense on its lonesome.
Wait…does that mean Sara is the creature? Or there are two Saras that can look the same, but one looks like the human and one is more kappa-like???
For some reason, I’m getting changeling vibes here…that Kazuki wants to look different to the rest of his family because he knows he’s different.
Hey…there’s this thing called the tourist gaze. It argues that because people create notions of reality differently, people have different ideas of what makes a trip “good” and “authentic”. In the same sense, Haruka’s “false” connection with Kazuki!Sara has become his reality, so it’s not wrong to say this Sara is real for him.
Oh…I just realised some kanji that appar early in the OP are the kanji for “extraction”.
So, uh…in a sense…can I interpret Kazuki’s love for his real mother a Fruedian thing? It seems all men’s love can be interpreted to be Freudian in some way or another…also, Sara kind of looks like his mother in a very “surface” kind of way. That is, they have a very passing resemblance to each other. Update: I’ve been reading some Stephen King lately and if I took anything away from that experience, it would be that everything is Freudian when it comes to men’s experiences. That’s why I say that.
Kimetsu no Yaiba 6
…*remembers something from the collab that was along the lines of “Astral doesn’t like Tanjiro’s green jacket”* Astral’s not gonna like this, then. (For those who don’t know the context, “Astral” is AstralGemini of the Zodiac Room.)
*Tanjiro is told he might not go very far with his demon slaying* *Tanjiro reacts with happiness that he’s on his way to get Nezuko human again* - Uh…I know I’ve watched my share of shonen, but I kind of didn’t expect that and yet also did.
Ugh…it’s the return of CGI Tanjiro…the vegie patch looks good in CGI though, for some reason.
Lemme guess…with a title like that (Swordsman Accompanying a Demon), could it be that Kazumi is a demon???
“I don’t get it at all.” – LOL…that was unintentionally funny (for the second time in this show, the first being Hand Demon).
BSD 30 (S3 Ep 5)
Moby Dick crashing into Yokohama? It was literally years ago for us!
I’m pretty sure these Park guys didn’t exist in the manga. Update: Nope, they did. I’ve read the corresponding chapter, it’s just that that was also 2 years ago…just like the last we saw of the anime.
I love how the “gyaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!” ended in blood splatter, literally.
The Park guys apparently come from ch. 44 but Katai comes from ch. forty…what? One? Two? It’s not 40 (Hitori Ayumu), that’s all I know.
Katai is a good boy. You’ll see why in…oh, a few seconds.
Oh, I love the ending of this story. I already know the ending, but seeing it again will be a whole new bag of laughs!
Uh…I forgot how much of an interruption the anime’s humour is. My dream of a “whole new bag of laughs” is at least half dashed…*shoulders slump*
Apparently Atsushi cut his hair himself…not sure if that’ll be a spoiler for later, but it’s still something cool to know.
“So it’s your letter?”
Katai is basically me when it comes to my husbandos. See why I love him???
Come to think of it…I haven’t properly listened to the ED yet! Better do that while I still have the chance.
Fruits Basket 5
Shigure is such a troll…just like I remember him.
Fruits Basket 6
Hatori! Ooh! He’s hottttttt! Sizzling!...Okay, I think you get my point already…
I think someone else (Amelia from A Girl and Her Anime…?) pointed this out…but I don’t understand a speck of German outside 1 – 10 (I remembered the German word for “six” way too well when I was younger). So it would help if they bothered to make the German English as well.
For some reason, the stick figure was both obviously a cost-cutting measure and also elevated the hilarity of that scene…!
I don’t quite know what the Japanese equivalent of the “macaroni and cheese” thing was, but it conveys the same idea in the two languages and makes people laugh along the way, so…*shrugs shoulders* Makes sense, I guess.
Tohru is kandou about meeting an author. Kandou means to be deeply moved (noun form).
LOL, Hanajima reading the book.
…Oh my goodness. I just realised Fruits Basket has a lot of characters with fringes. 90s fringes for everyone!
“…a cartoon about a cat and a rat that are always fighting…” - Come to think of it, Tom and Jerry is popular in Japan.
Shield Hero 18
I think this episode title ends in inbou, which means “intrigue”.
This show is clearly trying to play the same cards over and over again…
Shield Hero 19
Hypocrites! Hypocrites everywhere! *does Buzz Lightyear hand gesture from the meme*
OPM 19 (S2 Ep 6)
The reason the fat guy is called Dave is not just because of B/V confusion, but because debu (without the line in the middle) is a slang word for…wait for it…”fatty”.
Interestingly, Murata previously worked on a oneshot called Gokiburi Buster. I wonder if this Cockroach Boi is from there…?
Did you notice the guys behind the umpire, who had a stretcher at the ready…?
“Mr Saynuthin” seems to be “Nanmoien-san” in Japanese.
“Waganma” seems to be a play on wagamama, or selfish. However, I can’t pin down the pun in the father’s name...
Well, well, well…at least someone acknowledges Speed of Sound Sanic (the ninja, not the CGI abomination or the monkey) is hecka-speedy.
Charanko (the real one)…he has ashi no ura (the back of the foot) written on his bandages…LOL.
Sarazanmai 6
Apparently Kazuki’s (foster) family all wear the same kind of stripes…which is what Kazuki means when he doesn’t want to wear the same kind of clothes as his family.
Okay…so the first set of kanji that appear in the OP are the one for “desire” and the ones after that are “extraction”…geddit? (LOL)
Oh my glob…how in the name of Iyami does Osomatsu-san get so popular that after I watched the first season of that show, it starts appearing in other places as well????
I saw a translation of the Reo and Mabu tweets and apparently at least one of them can make ningyoyaki (a type of cake you can make in all sorts of shapes – scroll down a bit on that page and you’ll find the description of ningyoyaki there).
Uhh…ghh…Keppi pole dancing was disturbing…*soul floats out of body temporarily*
Reo (I think that’s Reo, at least) has ningyoyaki…Update: Yup, that’s Reo.
“Headdress”, huh?
Why does this episode 6 feel like ending material…?
Wait…you’re saying Reo and Mabu are princes of the otter kingdom??? Wuh???
BSD 31 (S3 Ep 6)
(Lucy blushes) Wow…now there’s an option for a het ship right there…not that anyone will take it.
I saw a GIF of Atsushi floating naked and face down in the water (because Irina), but…I forgot exactly how the scenario before it went, so I LOLled.
Oh yeah…this chapter had a tie-in with Mizuki Tsujimura, because Mizuki knew Kyoka’s mother. Also, it shows you can inherit Abilities…
It’s Truck-kun and the curse of the isekai!...Okay, I’m kidding.
Oh yeah…this is the chapter about the Headmaster…
I haven’t been in a good place mentally for the past few years or so, due to my world basically fragmenting around me, so the words “don’t hate yourself” are strong ones coming from a place both nostalgic and new.
Dazai inherits a particularly interesting space in Atsushi’s life. He’s like a brother and father wrapped up into one (Kunikida is the nagging mother in that analogy, LOL), but also obsessed with suicide to the point he can also be a liability.
“…didn’t tell anyone…”
It’s also interesting to compare Tohru (of Fruits Basket) and Atsushi. They’re both selfless, but Tohru’s selflessness is shown to be a double-edged sword while Atsushi’s gives him a lot of resentment but is overall a positive thing.
Aww…seeing Atsushi slowly tear up almost made me tear up too…
Fitzgerald Rising…that’s the name of the chapter where…oh, sorry. It’s been years, so I’ll let it all play out for you and me again without mentioning any spoilers until they happen in (close to) real time in the show, okay?
Fruits Basket 7
This is the first time there’s been English lyrics on the OP for this show…I think.
Who’s this “he” Tohru’s referring to when examining the woman’s picture? Akito, probably, but I’m not 100% sure…Update: It was Hatori, actually.
“Shii-san”, “Haa-san” etc. is…cute. *cue “O kawaii koto…” from Kaguya-sama*
I get the feeling that Shigure is almost like a prototype Dazai (Bungou Stray Dogs). Or they just have a lot in common.
“Are these my just desserts?”
Demon Slayer 7
Nezuko’s playing whack a mol-er, demon, isn’t she??? (LOL)
Whoa…it must be mighty freaky to be floating in a swamp of dead people’s possessions…
Welp, Tanjiro…that’s one way to say “hands off my sister”. *nods* By cutting the demon’s hands off…
