Define a woman!

I’m gonna rant this here cus this argument keeps returning on the clock app and one day, I’m gonna be stupid and leave a comment in the wrong thread or smthn so I’m just gonna get it out of my system:

“How do you define a ‘woman’?”

Answer for idiots: you can’t.

You cannot possibly make a definition for the term ‘woman’ without excluding someone from the group when they clearly ARE part of the group (even if you’re a piece of shit transphobe and don’t want to include trans women). A woman is someone who has the potential to give birth? You just excluded every child before puberty, every infertile woman and every woman on menopause, next. A woman is someone who has a uterus? You just excluded a bunch of intersex women and all women who had a hysterectomy, next. A woman has a period? Excluded the millions of women who never get their period for various reasons AND all the women who take continuous birth control AND women who are pregnant AND again, little girls and women on menopause. A woman has to have XY chromosomes? Are you gonna check that for every feminine-looking person you’re gonna meet? How? Do you not think women with down syndrome are women?

Decades of feminism working so hard to make sure women are more than their genitals and potential to give birth, all flushed down the drain because you refuse to believe trans women are more than men in wigs? You’re weak as shit.

So answer for people who actually want to use their brain:

Woman is defined through experiences. Which experiences? Entirely up to whoever defines themselves as a woman.

The ‘female experience’ is so broad. You cannot possibly define it in one sentence and stick it on everyone who calls the word ‘woman’ their own.

You feel feminine and empowered by doing your nails? Congrats, that’s the female experience and makes you, therefore, a woman.

You feel feminine and empowered by wearing plaid and splitting wood in two with a giant axe? Congrats! Female Experience. Woman.

You feel feminine in a dress? Woman. You feel feminine in a tux and suit? Woman.

You feel empowered as a mother and love being pregnant? Woman! You despise the idea of being pregnant but find empowerment in your career? Woman! You feel like your period makes you more in tune with your femininity? Woman. You feel like your period makes you less than human and getting a hysterectomy makes you feel more comfortable in your body? Woman.

you love long hair? Woman. You love short hair? Woman.

You love loving men? Woman. You love loving women? Woman. You love both? Woman. You love everyone? Woman. You don’t feel like love is your thing? Woman!

Sitting at home with a good movie and a bottle of wine? That’s a woman. Getting bloody in a game of soccer? That’s very woman! Taking a walk with your dog? How very woman! Going to the gym? Such woman! Eating out with friends? Friend woman. Shooting a gun in the yard from the patio you built yourself? All woman!

Whatever the fuck makes you feel in sync with your femininity is your female experience, and if you have female experience and you like it, you are a W O M A N ✨

Same goes for men and the male experience btw! Since the question “what defines a man” is never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever EVER asked for SOME 👀 reason. (We all know the reason….) Also same goes for my fellow enbies and the non-binary experience. If painting your nails bring you closer to your enbie side, you’re non-binary.

Gender is such a deeply personal experience, it’s just dumb to define it for someone else, let alone the entire human species. It’s like asking to define a chair, like, you KNOW what it is but you can’t possibly define it without excluding some chairs (“has at least 4 legs”, that’s a horse also swivel chairs exist).

Sidenote: If some idiot tiktokker shoves a microphone and a camera in your face and goes “WHAT IS A WOMAN” or “HOW MANY GENDERS ARE THERE” just go along with whatever dumbass scenarios they come up with. “How many genders are there?” “My dude, as many as you want!” “Oh so like 40??” “Yep!” “Can I identify as a helicopter lol?” “Sure, who cares, do it!” “Should I demand everyone at my job calls me a helicopter” “You can go to your local townhouse, request to change your name to ‘helicopter’ and they’ll most likely let you. I really think there's no point in continuing the love triangle on nhie.

P.S this is my subjective opinion after rewatchs and based on my interpretation of the journeys the trio has.

I believe the 4th season will just focus on personal growth and the process of moving forward of multiple characters, especially devi.

Paxton's journey and Devi's impact

Paxton reaching his goal earlier than the rest of the main cast means that he will get way less focus than the rest ( I low-key think we'll get more Trent focus than Paxton this season) and it also means there's few things left to see abt his arc.

In season 1 he was seen/portrayed as a heartthrob who is also low-key dumb and immature yet he had so much more to him, he didn't like being perceived that way, was a great and loyal friend to Trent and we saw his soft side with his sister and oji-chan. By season 3 his character arc has reached a closure. By this conclusion I don't see Devi being much involved in his life unless it's about Devi's closure and her journey of grief and acceptance, which they had in their talk of the season 3 finale. At least Paxton's role in that journey was done.

To me the Devi X Paxton romance has ran it's course and it's over. It did its job for both characters. The conclusion being they were vital parts of each others healing and that they had love for each other. The romance though...it was done. Devi didn't get the butterflies and excitement she used to have anymore.

Still, you can't deny that Devi's role in his story is important and so is he to Devi. He thanked her in his speech and she thanked him for being a dream. That's what he was to her ... a dream. An idealised dream that she craved and a way for her to cope with the loss of somebody she really loved ( I believe the voicemail connection helps my deduction that Devi initially saw Paxton as sb who could help her get something at least ,since she lost the person that meant so much to her let her at least get her the boy she's had a crush on for many years, even though she knew next to nothing abt him.) She needed a coping mechanism, a distraction if you will. Their scene together fulfills what ultimately Devi was seeking in Paxton and what their romance together was for her

Through rewatch sth became really clear. By season 3 ,Paxton liked Devi more than Devi ever liked him. She was seeking escape and a dreamy romance which he gave her and once she saw that wasn't what would help her heal she decided to move on. Ofc they were there for each other through their issues and sure he may still love her but this story follows Devi's journey and her dealing with her issues (trauma,loss, low self esteem etc)

Tl:dr it became evident to me that she saw him initially as a trophy bf, someone to help numb her pain ,a price for her pain,sth she really wanted now that she lost so much ,ultimately her realizing avoiding the pain and forcing yourself to move on so you don't hurt anymore wasn't the way to move forward and Paxton wasn't what she wanted anymore.

She has moved on

Then we have Ben. Someone who was the part of her old dream that she wanted to take with her.

This season is setting up to be really Devi,Ben and benvi focused and I'm here for it

#I really love Paxton but Devi and him together aren't well for each other #they were each others indirect support to reach their goals/ move forward #it's made clear on the show what Devi wants out of Paxton and what Paxton got to do through her influence #they're way better off as friends #I ain't tagging their ship cus although this is my opinion and pov it's not anti the ship #It needed to happen otherwise it would've been a what if for Devi and this relationship needed to happen for them to reach their closure #benvi #I will do one on why benvi makes sense in the narrative in the characters someday cus boy there's sm foreshadowings and t #hemes #nhie #Paxton and Devi relationship #This is not coherent im just rambling and the s3 finale got me good!

"Nope." You take another bite, chew, leaving Spencer in anticipation. Finally, you swallow, lips curving into an even stickier smile. "'Cus Pen and Morgan are never gonna happen. They're better as friends…"

You slip down off of Morgan's desk, leaving his twizzlers behind. Spencer has enough sense about him to anticipate your approach. He's proud of himself for the composure he maintains as your footsteps slow. He even takes a step back to follow you, to your abject delight.

"But we're not just friends, are we?" you ask softly. You lift your chin. He can smell the cherry on you.

"Y/N, enough," Hotch says from somewhere behind. You refuse to look away, and while Spencer fears his chief's tone, he manages to hold your gaze. "HR will mandate another presentation."

"It's alright, Hotch," Spencer says. His cheeks are flushed and his palms are clammy, but his voice holds up. "I don't mind."

"I'm sure you don't."

"This could all be avoided if we took this somewhere a little more private," you murmur.

"Enough. I won't tell you again, Y/N. Shouldn't you be helping Penelope with her ViCAP recalibration?" Hotch asks pointedly.

Spencer takes it for what it is; an effort to separate you from each other before it goes too far. You know it too, rolling your eyes at Spencer like you've a shared secret —Can you believe this guy?— clasping his arm loosely in farewell.

"See you later, Spence." You call him handsome, babe, bub, even sweetheart, but Spence is the worst of all of them because of how you say it, your voice entrenched in pure honey. His heart pangs as you go.

Hotch lingers by Spencer's side, coffee freshly filled and steaming in rings. "You know, you're getting better," he says sympathetically.

Spencer rubs the bridge of his nose roughly. "Thanks."
