Pigeon pullover update.
I decided to work sleeves first, in order to take advantage of a sale at my local yarn shop. I opted to use a self-striping sock yarn to imitate the chequered wing plumage:
It's not perfect, but I think it gives the impression without requiring a lot of effort on my part. So I think that's a win.
The greys aren't an exact match, and the yarns feel very different from each other. I'm not yet sure how I feel about this.
I also decided to round out the purple area on the front of the sweater:
The raglan construction makes a very rectangular yoke, which I hoped to avoid on the front. But I left the colour transition straight on the back in order to minimise the number of active yarn balls I needed at once (ie: laziness). But again: I think it's a good solution.
I am very excited to wear this in public and get odd looks from passersby!

I finally finished crocheting my orb-pondering sweater ⭐🌙
Won't be able to share a pattern, as I didn't use one. I (chaotically) made it up as I went.

been knitting voraciously for about three years and almost never swatch 😬 i’m knitting a sweater for the first time and decided it was worth it based on the amount of effort i’m about to put into this and was wondering how much people actually follow the best practices

I have finished the colourwork for my greek pottery inspired cardigan! Next step is gentle blocking, then into steeking, and finally finishing of the edges and button band. The pattern is Greek Amphora Cardi and this is the same cardigan that the Roomba tried to eat back in the fall.
Bonus image of all my floats. I am very happy with how it has been turning out. Took ages to sew in all the ends on the sleeves. Very glad I decided on the second sleeve to leave the longer floats between motifs and save on ends to weave in.

Pigeon Pullover, completed!
I am very pleased with how this turned out! It's very comfortable--I had worried about the mock neck getting in the way (which has been my experience with other garments), but this wasn't a problem! It's also just warm enough to keep off a chill, but cool enough I'm not overheating, even with a t-shirt underneath.
The self-striping sock yarn used to make the chequered wing pattern is toothier than the solid-coloured yarns. It's noticeable, but I don't think it's an issue.
Things I'd change next time:
figure out how to make a tighter mock neck
start the chequering sooner (higher)
round the purple yoke more; possibly start it sooner (end it higher)
Can't wait for Pigeon Pullover version 2!

as a fiber artist I fucking LOVE the sweater curse
it's such a good litmus test for relationships
cause like.... would we feel certain that the sweater curse is going to affect us if we didn't already know that our partner would take our skills and generosity for granted? would we know that the sweater curse was going to prove that we're taken for granted if our partner wasn't someone who asks "when are you going to make me x?"
it's a litmus test- if you believe in the sweater curse and you think about making one for your partner and a little voice in the back of your head doesn't say "but they've shown me they won't be like this" then maybe think about some things

they call it the granny stitch cuz it gets all the grandma's on your walk complementing your drip
Pattern: MJ Off the Hook's easy granny stitch sweater
Yarn: Lionbrand's Mandala yarn, alternating cakes to get a more random look of colors.
I hid the alternating yarn in the Ch2 to carry it up which made me feel very clever but I'm sure people have this figured out. Had to manipulate the yarn cakes a little so I could get the sleeves even. I was hoping for a goblincore look and I think I got it. Kind of wish I manipulated the stripes a little more but I wanted this to be an easy stitch that I could wear on a daily basis.
