big 2 comics publishers will be like "why arent comic books selling" like comics aren't at a major high in popularity yet to "buy" a comic book you need to call a specialised dying-out store weeks in advance of a comic book coming out to let them know you want to buy it and then when you pay 5 united states dollars for one issue it has the emotional depth of a kindergartner mashing two action figures together

Hello! So it’s X-Men fanfic but it’s a Táin AU (and also lesbians)

I’m putting Lorna Dane/Polaris in the role of Cú, and Theresa Cassidy/Siryn in the role of Laeg.

It’s not a 1:1 AU, because I have to adapt things to the X-Men but I’m very excited about it and will likely be posting my character bios for the AU here soon!

It hits him suddenly and without warning that he’d never said the Kaddish for his mother. That he’d never given himself the chance to mourn her. He’d been too preoccupied- too caught up in the horrors of his own existence and his own trauma to think to give her the respect she’d earned. He’d done the same thing he’d accused her of doing once in anger- of forgetting about him. 

It takes him less than a minute to form a list of other mutants on Krakoa that he thinks might help him- ones that maybe aren’t as…..against his continued existence as the others. That plan lasts exactly through the first four on his list who reject him with little preamble. The fifth one at least has the decency to say “may her memory be a blessing” before walking away- and David is starting to give up hope. 

He feels more than sees Magnus approaching him, as always, unsettled by the feeling of similarity between him and the older man. But more than that he remembers the last time he'd been desperate around the other man, who had been present to kill him at the first sign of weakness. 

“What do you want?” He spits, defensive and frustrated and all too willing to take it out on his sometimes enemy. 

To his credit, Magnus doesn’t look surprised by his temper, just replies in his own clipped and even tone. “I know what you’re doing.” 

“And what? You’re here as my father’s lapdog to stop me?” 

David feels the pulse of energy coming from Magnus. “I’m no one’s lapdog.” It feels like a threat. 

He smirks, turning to face him. “Then prove it. Form your own opinion of me before you assume my father’s right.” “You tried to kill me.” 

“And you’ve tried to kill me, that makes us even.” He’s trying to look unaffected, knows that if he controls his powers that he’s more powerful than Magnus could ever dream of being, that he’s as his mother said once, “a god.” But he also knows that as wound up as he is there’s little hope of that kind of control. “So, what do you want?” 

Magnus clenches and unclenches his fists, little movements meant to help him maintain his composure and that are surely felt by his daughter as pulses in the earth’s magnetism. Finally he speaks. “You know that your mother and I were friends of course.” 

“I know she thought you were a friend.”

Magnus laughs then and it almost makes David crawl out of his skin, he absently wonders if he can actually do that. “No, even after what you saw in your ill-advised mission to ensure your father’s dream by murdering the man who was merely a hospital orderly-” David winces and Magnus smiles. “Ah- finally you have the decency to look ashamed of that venture…your mother was my lawyer when I least deserved her, a friend to my nation of Genosha, and a friend to mutantkind in her fight against the registration act.” “And I suppose you think it was all for you.” David can’t help but roll his eyes. 

“Of course it wasn’t. I’m not that vain David.” Magnus sighs and rests a heavy hand on his shoulder. “It couldn’t have more clearly been all for you.” 

“For me?” He whispers. “But I-” erased myself from existence after traumatizing her by killing my father in an attempt to kill you, scared her almost constantly with uncontrolled displays of my power, reminded her of her own trauma when my trauma left me unresponsive and withdrawn, posed a threat to her country, have never in my life been safe or been safe to be around, am the reason she had to talk to Dad again even though she was terrified of him…..I’m the reason she’s dead- they were trying to kill me.

“She was so proud of you David.” David gets the odd feeling that Magnus might be projecting a bit there. “She would have done anything for you. Let me do this for her. Let me help like I should have years ago.”

wally west is a guy of all time for me. funny haha jokester kid who had to take on a huge amount of responsibility he was definitely not ready for, developed the worst imposter syndrome known to man and instead of coping made it everyone else’s problem. will be sooo petty and selfish about small things but also sacrifices his life with 0 thought like it’s a regular tuesday. had an abusive dad and absolutely refused to acknowledge that shit or think about it ever again. completely unrelated to this he immediately cuts off his entire family the minute he reaches twenty-one. incapable of hiding his emotions and will unfairly be a bitch to you if he’s struggling with something. said himself that no one loved him until his aunt iris. would actually not hesitate to burn the world down for his wife. claims to be a laid back go with the flow guy but also will spiral at the slightest provocation. is allergic to nuance when people he loves make mistakes and will be in their corner no matter how wrong they are.
