they call it the granny stitch cuz it gets all the grandma's on your walk complementing your drip
Pattern: MJ Off the Hook's easy granny stitch sweater
Yarn: Lionbrand's Mandala yarn, alternating cakes to get a more random look of colors.
I hid the alternating yarn in the Ch2 to carry it up which made me feel very clever but I'm sure people have this figured out. Had to manipulate the yarn cakes a little so I could get the sleeves even. I was hoping for a goblincore look and I think I got it. Kind of wish I manipulated the stripes a little more but I wanted this to be an easy stitch that I could wear on a daily basis.

Crochet Commissions!
For those who don't know me, I'm Alex (she/they), and I started the year off with Covid. Because I had to take two weeks off work, I'm really hurting for money right now, so I'm opening up a limited number of slots for crochet commissions to try to fill in that financial gap.
ALL of the materials I use are machine washer/dryer safe
Pictures of my recent work and prices are below. Including: stuffed animals, dice bags, holiday stockings, blankets. As well as: shipping info, custom request info.
For further questions or to request a commission: message me here or email me at
[email protected]
When I did my poll, most people voted for stuffed animals, and I recently finished a few that I can show my skills with. The blue penguin is my latest finished piece, with the purple penguin the first thing I ever crocheted side-by-side for comparison of how much I've learned in the last ~7 months. The mouse is technically unfinished because the eyes aren't embroidered yet, but I made it in about a day and a half, for timeline purposes.
I also just finished the above dice bag octopus about an hour ago for my roommate, which took about three hours of non-stop work (I turned on a movie and got through the stitches pretty quick). I can make them in any color you want, with either the plastic safety eyes or embroidered eyes. Most of these can be entirely customizable, just let me know what you're thinking and I'll see what I can do!
Dice bags: $10 + $5 domestic (US) shipping
Stuffed animals: $15 + $5 domestic (US) shipping
optional crinkle filling (washer/dryer safe): + $2 (stuffed animals only)
10 slots total (4 REMAINING)
I don't have any pictures of any of the hats or scarves I've made because it's been a few years, but I made some stockings for the apartment for Christmas last month, and that's one of my most recent projects. The green one was the last one I made, and probably the most accurate to what my capabilities are now.
If you'd like a stocking for Christmas 2024, let me know! I have an unlimited number of slots for them as the holiday is far enough away that the time crunch isn't so rough.
Hats: $20 + $5 domestic (US) shipping
Scarves: $30 + $5 domestic (US) shipping
Holiday stocking: $24 + $5 domestic (US) shipping
5 total wearable (hats/scarves) slots
The least popular item in my poll was the blankets, which I understand. And I'm only going to open one slot for them at a time because they take so long and so much yarn to make. The wave pattern (both blankets pictured above) is my favorite to do, but I have patterns for most simple designs, or I can likely easily google it and put it together for you. Prices are based on the time and materials these take to make, but because they're so much more expensive than the smaller items above, domestic (US) shipping is free.
Baby blanket (top left): $50
Throw blanket/afghan: $100
Full size (length shown in bottom picture): $200
1 blanket slot (0 REMAINING)
Custom requests:
If there's a pattern you've found on Etsy/Pinterest/etc that you want made, contact me by using the contact information above. We can discuss prices or my ability to accomplish that for you. ***patterns must be CROCHET patterns as I do not knit (yet)***
5 custom slots total
International shipping:
Let me know when you request a commission where you are located, as shipping prices vary wildly from country to country. I'll go over the actual cost with you before you commit to the commission and make sure the price works for both of us.

After eight years, I have agreed to knit Handsome a garment, socks, particularly, boot socks for him to wear with his cowboy boots. Handsome is Texan, he owns multiple pairs of cowboy boots.
Handsome is Texan and built like it. So I'll be here for the next millennium knitting his shoe size US 14, thick of calf, 80 stitch circumference boot socks on my tiny sock needles.
Handsome is also Chinese Spinaporean and very excited about his sock number being 80.
I'm not.

Sunday Stitchin'
What's that? Why, you're looking at my second ever cast off in progress. It was more stressful than the making of the project itself, and that came with a number of pattern mistakes along the way. I've learned a lot though. In any case, the cast off is one step closer to finishing, so be on a FO post soon to come!
[Did you know?! I have a crochet bingo you can find here. Currently working on: Make an Amigurumi]

I love this version of our Hearts Scarf - there’s so many different color combinations you could do but I think this one is favorite. Julianne did such a nice job with this scarf and it will be featured on our new book cover coming soon.
Our very first book will still be pretty much the same inside - just a few minor changes (like OMG with the last edit I forgot to add the page numbers! LOL) but we’re making some fantastic changes for a whole new cover.
There’s still time to get the original book on Amazon but it won’t be around for long!

My spinning journey continues, and I think I'm starting to get the feel for how drafting works more and more. After getting some advice that indicated the roving I've been working with (the Malabrigo Nube) might be making drafting harder for myself, I switched over to a merino/camel blend and was amazed at how much easier drafting suddenly became. I felt like I was understanding it and getting a feel for it so much more that I went back and tackled the remaining two-thirds of my final Malabrigo Nube roving, which I then plied with the merino/camel. It's… actually still drying after a whole day and some change.
But! I also plied that single ply of Malabrigo Glitter with the first third of that last Nube roving—Hojas colorway. That has dried and it might be my new favorite yarn? It turned out to be one of my absolute favorite color palettes: blues and terra cottas.
It's also my most "proper" looking yarn to date, and I am very pleased with it—just wish I had more!
The Malabrigo/merino/camel 2-ply should be dried tomorrow, and I'll snag pictures of it then. I'm also trying to be more cognizant and take pictures of at least some of the various stages as I seem to be spinning quite regularly for the time being now, so I will have more updates as more yarn gets plied. It's a bit of a shell game with only four bobbins, but I'm making it work.

Spent saturday at the training weekend dyeing wool with various substances.
It doesn't look like much hanging up to dry but when you look at just the thin ones (I havent reskeined the thick ones yet) in good light....

I can't find any post about this, though I swore I made one, so I'll just post it again
I crochetted an adorable little strawberry hat for my friend's baby's first bday
I didn't use a pattern. I just kinda vibes lol. It turned out big for her little head but she's also got a small head for her age and also she can grow Into it
And when she grows out of it, I can just make it a little stuffie for her
I still have to find and wash the baby blanket I made that I'm giving to my other friends' new baby

Well, it's town wide yard sale day, and despite my efforts to work down my stash this summer, I caved and bought a basket of yarn from my neighbor.
Mostly acrylic worsted weight, $5 for all the yarn plus the basket.

Amigurumi Tachikoma from Ghost in the Shell: Stand-Alone Complex. Out of the handful of candid photos I took of this project, this is the only one that turned out well. I worked on this for about 7 months, off and on. I made this as a skill challenge, as well as a gift for the husband.
Yarn: Caron Simply Soft
Pattern: https://wbandel.wordpress.com/2012/12/08/tachikoma-crochet-pattern/
Image Description: a head-on photo of an amigurumi, or crochet doll, of the Tachikoma spider tanks from the anime series Ghost in the Shell: Stand-Alone Complex. The amigurumi has a royal blue body and head, three white eyes, and gray pincers with three fingers. It stands on a cream-color couch with scissors and a yarn needle in the background. End image description.
