it is genuinely impossible for me to believe that the base level of pain for ableds is none. HOW. like i get not having pain like laying and shit even tho i never have experienced that, but how does walking not always hurt. ur bones r moving. theyve gotta be rubbing something painfully.

no you cannot hold my cane while im not currently using it
no you cannot grab it from where i rested it while i was sitting
no you cannot borrow it nor try it out for a sec
no you cant take it from me while im occupied with a task
even if you did ask my permission before doing any of this id still say no
keep your fucking hands off my aid
the only time you can touch it is if i ask you to pass it to me, and no that doesnt mean you get to try it out that is not permission for you to use it.

Was on the bus yesterday with my rollator and ended up sitting next to someone else with one, we complimented each others colourful hair, she gave me a pin, i gave her a sticker, and it was just lovely to see someone like me irl

Don't insult disabled people's bodies!
Do not call them gross or weird.
Don't tag people's real life bodies as body horror.
Don't gawk or stare.
Don't touch or grab others' mobility aids without permission.
Just treat us like you'd treat people. Because that's what we are. People.

something I feel like nobody talks about:
how fucking painful it is to be finally getting better with your mental health, only for your disabilities to get worse.
i have spent so much of my teenage years wishing i were dead; hating every part of myself; going through abuse and trauma and pain and honestly living through hell, and I have been consoling myself with the knowledge that one day, it will get better. And it is getting better. I’m finally beginning to live again, to feel the air on my skin, to enjoy each day and not just wait for the end.
And then my body stopped working.
And it won’t start again.
I am always in pain. Everything fucking hurts, all the time, and it won’t stop hurting. This won’t get better. And god, that hurts.

in a world where ableist able-bodied doctors won’t give a fuck about physically disabled people, self diagnosis is always okay, and good.

becoming blind in one eye was, ironically, a real eye opener into how inaccessible the world is to blind or otherwise visually impaired people. the fact that people just straight up refuse to make media accessible to us is shocking and there’s a weird lack of people talking about it.

genuinely people need to start curating their dash experiences more. you dont like a person? block them. you think theyre mean? block them. dont like a topic? blacklist it.
it is your responsibility to curate what you see and dont see on a platform like tumblr that doesnt have an algorithm. follow blogs you like, topics you like, and block and ignore the ones that you dont. it is that easy.

cripplepunk is visually centered around use of mobility aids and accessibility, the word cripple being reclaimed from those who used it as a word against us physically disabled people and our bodies.
i see no way anyone could think cripplepunk let alone the word cripple could ever include able bodied individuals, just because it doesnt talk about mentally disabled people and focuses on the physically disabled, doesnt mean youre being swept under the rug and erased.
just because a space doesnt include you doesnt mean you should butt in and force it to. make your own damn space instead. youre not being invalidated or treated as invisible because some "exclusive club" exists and youre not on the invite list.
cripplepunk doesnt offer you anything if youre physically abled. thats not a threat, not an insult, its a fucking statement. a fact.
cripplepunk is made by and for PHYSICALLY disabled folks and always has. those who have mental disabilities ON TOP OF being physically disabled are welcomed thats a given, but if you arent physically disabled this space literally has nothing for you, nothing you can relate to, the word cripple isnt even for you. thats not some made up rule to shoo away people we dont like thats just a fucking fact on how it is.
"the brain is an organ so i AM physically disabled" do you need a mobility aid because of your mental disability? no, do you get sick and dizzy whenever you stand up because of our disabled brain? no. do you need additional help in school because your mental disability hinders your neurological function not your ability to function PHYSICALLY? yes? then stop being a selfish idiot and stop trying to get into cripplepunk as its not a space thats for you.
being mentally disabled is entirely different from being physically disabled, both are equally valid and deserve accommodations and support but when a space is made for one and not the other, only having the other does not warrant you to push into that space.
it should not have to be said so many times let alone at all
cripplepunk is a space for physically disabled bodies.

I love my cane. It helps me get places and explore the world in a way that's so much more open than it ever could be without it.
That being said
I MISS BEING ABLE TO TEXT AND WALK

"He was disabled," the able-bodied human wrote, "but he could still love; he could still be human"
*I wonder why no one likes my stories of disabled people... oh I know!*
"Their relationship was fractured and they loved each other less, because he's a (insert slur) now but they're growing. She no longer strands him without his mobility aid when they fight and instead takes his communication cards. "
They stand and leave their desk
*ahh romance*

My vertigo has been killing me since yesterday but I managed to complete most of my to-dos! Most of them because the psychical ones have been impossible to do. Today when my mum comes home I’ll get to it so I don’t get koed by my symptoms.
Declutter my laptop and make space for the new semester
Do my annual digital security load
Prepare a Percy Jackson rpg one shot for some friends
Organize and clean my room
If I complete it later maybe I’ll check in here to let you know. Until then, stay safe <3
