i don't feel nearly as ashamed or hesitant to talk about my queer tgirl attraction to men as my tguy brothers would feel talking about their attraction to women
obligatory "if you're a trans guy and your attraction to women is het, that's real and okay! your trans experience isn't a monolith and other trans people being different doesn't make you different or wrong"
like, think about it: hardly anyone bats an eye when a tgirl uses grindr or calls herself a faggot, but as soon as a man calls himself a lesbian, everyone gets on his ass. anything for an excuse to shit on lesbians, i guess. it makes me angry that nobody sees this hypocrisy or these ties back to the lesbian separatism that infected the community post-70s. it's not gone, it never went away
this isn't exactly profound news to anyone who gives a shit about lesbian history. just something i find interesting

Trans men who call themselves lesbian because they still feel connected to the community they have established their place in? I love you.
Trans women who call themselves gay because they still feel connected to the community they have established their place in? I love you.
Multigender people who call themselves transfem or female gays because that term just feels right? I love you.
Multigender people who call themselves transmasc or male lesbians because that term just feels right? I love you.
Nonbinary people with nebulous and/or convuluted genders who mix and match labels no matter how contradictory they are because that's what describes them best? I love you.

love, there’s no such thing as a “bi lesbian.” someone can’t be bi and a lesbian. Coming from a lesbian myself it just doesn’t happen that way. Being a bisexual means that you like BOTH, being a lesbian means you ONLY like non men. It’s a mockery of real lesbians, it’s not a real sexuality.
Let’s take this apart separately, shall we?
“There’s no such thing as a Bi Lesbian”
Tell that to all the Bi Lesbians that follow me, and like my posts, and request for posts.
Tell that to the Bi Lesbians I reblog from and talk to occasionally.
Tell that to the older queers that identify as Bi Lesbians.
I guess apparently they don’t exist then. 🤷
“Someone can’t be Bi and a Lesbian”
Ah, this is a very popular one on this blog that I keep getting. I could link you to those, but I won’t. Here’s some ways you can be Bi and a Lesbian at the same time:
Biromantic Homosexuals
Homoromantic Bisexuals
Bi people who label themselves as Lesbians, to reclaim queer history. Because ALL Sapphics, regardless of if they were attracted to men or not, were referred to as Lesbians.
Bi people may also label themselves as Lesbians to reclaim being called a Lesbian by Biphobes trying to get them to pick one.
Bi people who lean more towards women, may call themselves Bi Lesbians.
Abroromantics/Abrosexuals may label themselves as Bi Lesbians because their orientation only swings back and forth between those two.
“Coming from a Lesbian myself, it just doesn’t happen that way.”
Well, for the second part, “It doesn’t happen that way”, just go back to the previous comments on “Someone can’t be Bi and a Lesbian”. It does and can happen.
Now for the first part “Coming from a Lesbian myself”. I hear this a lot. Not just from Lesbians, not just from queer people, but people of all different communities, one thing I hear all the time is “Coming from a [Blank] myself”. You need to understand that you are not the only Lesbian on earth. And Lesbians are not a hive-mind. You’re not all the same, and you’re not all going to have the same opinions. If that were the case, all Lesbians would look, talk, act the same way, and have the same views. But you don’t, because you’re not a hive-mind. Simply implying that all people of the same sexuality should have the same opinions is wrong. Believe it or not, I’ve seen all different kinds of lesbians who were Pro-Mspec Lesbian, who were Anti-Mspec Lesbian, and were neutral on Mspec Lesbians. And if all Lesbians had the same opinions, you would not be separated on these different opinions.
“Being a bisexual means that you like BOTH, being a lesbian means you ONLY like non men.”
Being Bi means that you could just about like any gender. It doesn’t just mean both, as in men and women. Bi people could definitely just be attracted to women and men, but they’re also Bi people attracted to all different kinds of genders under the Nonbinary umbrella.
As for being a Lesbian, it means that you’re attracted to women and Nonbinary people. And if we can agree on that, we also have to agree that there are other Nonbinary genders where one identifies as a woman AND a man, that you may also be attracted to. Saying that Lesbians don’t like men excludes Multigender people. Even if that’s not how you mean for it to sound, I can tell you that a lot of Multigender people feel that way.
Also, a common misconception is that Non-Men and Non-Women is okay to use for Gay and Lesbian definitions. It’s not. What you probably didn’t know, is that the terms have racist origins. Black and indigenous queer people have literally been talking about this since this definition was coined. “Non-Men” and “Non-Women” are terms that have been historically used to describe the degendering of black people.
Forcing these terms for queer definitions is Anti-Black, I could forgive you if you didn’t know that and stop using those definitions after now knowing the origins.
But if you still use these definitions even after knowing this, congratulations! You’re racist! Pretty sure there was a book about this, “Bad faith and anti-black racism” by Lewis R. Gordon.
“It’s a mockery of real lesbians, it’s not a real sexuality.”
Mspecs have just as big a part in Lesbian history as Lesbians.
All sapphics were Lesbians regardless of if they liked men.
The term “Bi Lesbian” has been around since the 70s. I’d like to see you try and tell an older queer Bi Lesbian, that they’re “mocking” Lesbians and that their sexuality isn’t real. They probably accomplished more than you have in your entire life, because you want to fight with people on queer labels that you think are and aren’t valid because apparently no queer identity is acceptable unless you agree with it.
Love, wether you like it or not, Bi Lesbians and even male Lesbians have always existed and will continue existing. And they don’t need your permission to be themselves.

lately ive discovered i much prefer calling my identity a "complex identity" or "complex labels" rather than a "contradictory identity" or "contradictory labels" because to me, being bi and a lesbian doesn't contradict each-other because im abro and i switch between the two, im not both at the same time but i identify with both labels, and me being a boy and a lesbian doesnt contradict each other either because im still also a girl, so yeah, no worries if you like "contradictory identity" but i just wanted to put it out there that there are other terms for this experience, in case "complex identity" resonates with some people more

Hate when anti bi lesbians are like "it's just as stupid as saying you're cis and trans"
Because actually you can be cis and trans. Systems, genderfluid and multigender people, intersex people, etc etc.
And you know they're never going to listen because they already can't handle one "complex" identity.

:33 < youcannot support a community if youdont support everyone. youcant support the lgbtqia2s+ community if youdont support two spirits, or lesboys, or contradictory labels, or aplatonics, or xenogenders, or trans people who dont actively present as their gender whether by choice or not, and more. youcant say you support the community if youdont actually support it. either support the community as a whole or dont and get out.

fixed some mspec mono exclusionist posts
inspired by @fixing-bad-posts
(1) Truth be told, you are radical, cool, and inclusive for being mspec lesbian. You are literally good man.
(2) Important reminder that contradictory labels just means you're so hot!
(3) being mspec gay makes me gay
(4) Just a reminder that mspec lesbians exist and are lesbian. Happy Pride Month!
(5) mspec lesbians interact with me <3
(6) It's exclusionist to hate mspec lesbians

hello mogai radinclus community!!
im making this post in order to get some answers to my questions! im currently doing research about various topics, and today im going to start with: good faith identities and contradictory labels!!
so my question is; What do you consider to be good faith identities and contradictory labels?
im genuinely only making this post because i cant find ANY resources about them, so i'll probably make my own definition resource rentry, so i need a lot of opinions :3 if you are going to reblog and answer, please be specific with your answer!! please and thank you!! and also, you can talk about your own experiences with complex gender/orientation/etc as well !!
For example, I personally consider good faith identities the following:
Good faith identities and Contradictory Labels can include:
Mspec Monos such as Mspec Lesbians/Gays/Bis/Straights (but not limited to them)
Sapphileans, Gaybians
queerhets, cisqueers (including straightbians/straightvincians, etc)
afab transfem and amab transmasc (of any sex)
Lesboys/Lesbois
Turigirls/Veldigirls
and many more!!
perhaps you can add non-lesbian butches/futches/femmes and non-gay bears/twinks/otters/etc ??
tag list for reach & boost! you are more than free to ignore!! i will only tag those who are openly pro good faith and contradictory labels!!
-> @genderstarbucks @neopronouns @haunted-thing @caeliangel @sage-writes-n-coins-mogai (i cant find anyone else DAMN)
even if you're not tagged and you're seeing this, feel free to reblog and respond!!
i could've never guessed tagging people would be so stressing

Hi! Do you know of a term that is a umbrella term for *all* identities considered “contradictory”(like mspec lesbians, lesboys, etc), and if not, could you potentially make one? Thanks!
i couldn't find one, so here's one!
subtliden: an umbrella term for identities such as mspec lesbian/veldian/gay/straight/etc., gaybian/velaurian, lesboy/turigirl, mesque, cistrans/transcis, transmasculine girl/transfeminine boy, and more; essentially a replacement/alternate term for 'contradictory labels'
[pt: subtliden: an umbrella term for identities such as mspec lesbian/veldian/gay/straight/etc., gaybian/velaurian, lesboy/turigirl, mesque, cistrans/transcis, transmasculine girl/transfeminine boy, and more; essentially a replacement/alternate term for 'contradictory labels'. end pt]
the term comes from 'subtle' and 'identity', since these terms all describe identities that have subtleties that not everyone will understand.
as a community we adopted the word 'contradictory' for our identities, which (to my knowledge) was first used for us by exclusionists, but not all of us feel that our identities oppose one another. for example, i'm attracted to men and various nonbinary genders as a genderqueer man, and i choose to acknowledge both my veldian identity and my mspec identity - i don't feel my identity is contradictory, it's just specific and subtle!
(quick addition: this term is still 100% inclusive of those who do feel their identities contradict, it's just meant to be a more general term that doesn't alienate those who don't!)
i didn't make a flag because i honestly don't know how to encapsulate all subtlidens in one flag; i think someone else made a contradictory labels flag that one could use, but i can't find it at the moment

Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Trisgender is being transgender and cisgender at the same time (cistrans/transcis).
-
Examples (but not limited to that): cismasc + transmasc ; transfem + cisfem ; transfem + cismasc ; transmasc + cisfem ; etc.
-
Flag meaning:
> 💙 (1) cismasc/cisman ; (2) masculinity ; (3) transmasc/transman
> 🤍 (1) genders outside of masc/fem, some cultural genders, some non-binary genders, etc ; (circle) being trisgender/cistrans/transcis outside masc/fem.
> 🩷 (1) cisfem/ciswoman ; (2) femininity ; (3) transfem/transwoman

What's the point of identifying as counter sexualities and gender? Like it seems like internalized homophobia, or at least some mental self harm happening.
Honestly anon, there is no one clear answer for why someone may identify as a bisexual and gay person, or a lesbian boy, or any label for that reason, even non-contradicting ones! I'm bi gay because I'm a bi guy who has such a heavy preference for men I feel gay. Not to mention I spent a long time identifying as gay before coming to terms with my bisexuality (and I spent an even longer time identifying as lesbian before that, so yeah). So as someone who has dealt with internalized biphobia/homophobia, I can definitely say it's not internalized homophobia. Someone may identify with gay bisexuality for an entirely different reason from me, and that's completely cool and valid! There's so much nuance to identifying with "counter" sexualities and genders that I could never have enough time in the world to break it down, and then even I, a living breathing contradictory label user myself, do not understand every the experience of every person who uses contradictory labels. Everyone is one in about 8 billion, I can't understand them all, and that's honestly pretty cool. Sometimes people are gonna identify with labels that contradict or are complicated and you won't be able to understand, anon, but I assure you, a fair 99.9% of the time it isn't internalized homophobia, or "self harm", or anything along those lines, it's just people being comfortable with their messy sexuality, gender, and identity and fully embracing it, as they're completely allowed to do.
