I'm probably gonna get yelled at for saying this but sometimes something isn't a real problem in fandom, you just learned a Japanese word describing a general fandom practice and got scared and decided it meant "The Bad Ones" of that practice

I have a lot of thoughts about these comments on that pin I reblogged but I can't put them into words right now. I'd love if someone else could talk about how disability pride isn't romanticizing though.

Disabled is not a bad word. I’m disabled and I’m fucking proud of it.

Im so fucking sick and tired of able bodied people pretending to be allies when they don’t actually listen to us.

Stop calling us “differently abled” or saying “don’t talk about yourself like that, you can do anything!” When we tell you we have disabilities.

It doesn’t help. It fucking hurts.

Being disabled doesn’t mean that I think less of myself, or that I can’t do certain things. When you say “don’t talk like that, you have so much potential” when I tell you I’m disabled it shows me that you don’t think disabled people have potential.

I can be fucking extraordinary AND disabled. I do not need to pretend I don’t have a disability to feel happy.

On one hand I’m so happy disabilities are more cared about and seen by people nowadays, but “allies” that say shit like that get more traction than people with actual disabilities, and able bodied people pretend to care when they actively say demeaning things about disabled people.

Sorry for today’s rant but ugh if I hear one more “don’t say that you can be anything!” When I tell someone I���m disabled I’m going to bitchslap them

Still really funny that Marvel named a movie “Endgame” and sold it as the final culmination of the MCU where they killed off two main characters and retired a third and then were shocked when people started loosing interest in the MCU after that

I know it’s not hard to point out reactionaries hypocrisy when it comes to like safe spaces or hug boxes or whatever but genuinely how much of an echo chamber do you have to exist in for you to think this is a reasonable thing to say

first time I ever went to the animal shelter and picked out my own animal was surreal. we had so many animals growing up but we never picked out any of them. and sure that’s normal for cats. they just showed up and we adopted them. but it didn’t end there.

we had a ball python because my mom was on a walk with her friends, saw it on the ground (this was Ohio) said “woah! that’s not native!” and put it in her purse. we advertised but never found the owner so we kept the purse python.

we ended up with a corn snake during a hurricane because my mom went out to get one of the cats and the corn snake was so little it came blowing through the air like a branch and my mom reached out and grabbed it out of the air to save it.

actually the point of this post is lost because I typed this far and realized the universe was maybe just sending my mom snakes specifically.

Great news everyone. There was a kitten wandering in the drive thru at work and my inner warrior cats kid tried to be a hero and capture him.

I have now suffered multiple puncture wounds and have to go to the emergency room.
