It just occurred to me. The movie is called Coyote vs Acme. So... Wile E. finally gets fed up with the years of defective products and inadequate safety documentation and finally sues Acme Co? If this were a chase cartoon, it would be called Coyote vs Roadrunner, but no, this is a legal thriller on the order of Rainmaker or Erin Brockovich. Wile E. says Acme products nearly killed him on several occasions. Acme argues that of course their products are dangerous; they're anvils and rockets and they claim the coyote didn't use them exactly as intended and therefore brought all those injuries on himself. Roadrunner's only in the movie because both sides call him as their key witness. And for all that the coyote spent years trying to kill him, he gets it, you know, he gets it. After all, roadrunners catch snakes to eat, and you know how hungry you have to get before live rattler looks good? And the judge demands an answer: Mr. Roadrunner, do you believe Acme delivered products that were if not safe than at least effective and no more dangerous than advertised, and Roadie has to do it. He's under oath. As the courtroom holds its breath, there's nothing he can say but "Meep meep."

i do unironically think the best artists of our generation are posting to get 20 notes and 3 reblogs btw. that fanfic with like 45 kudos is some of the best stuff ever written. those OCs you carry around have some of the richest backstories and worldbuilding someone has ever seen. please do not think that reaching only a few people when you post means your art isn't worth celebrating.

In possibly the stupidest move since the invention of the DVD rewinder, newyork_noodles posts a slash rant at fanficrants.

Embedded in this mass of fail are such gems as "I just don't understand the point of writing something that you know goes directly against canon and the character you're writing about." and "I just think that if it's a main character, who has been around for several books or movies or seasons or whatever and who we known all these things about it would, you know, be mentioned if they were bisexual."

Right. Because no author has ever come back after the end of a seven-book series and announced that a major character was gay. And also? Isn't the whole point of fanfiction for authors to, I dunno, explore things about their favorite characters that aren't explored in canon material?

The community, predictably, is in the process of delivering a felony sexual assault on the poster's anal region.

Slash!rant Jesus. Why does ever single slash fanfic invariably contain the phrase:

"Kissing X is the scariest, most exciting thing Y has ever done."

It's such a stupid cliché.

Also, I do NOT understand this bizarre need to slash characters that we know are straight. And have been kissing women and falling in love with women all over canon. I just don't understand the point of writing something that you know goes directly against canon and the character you're writing about.

ETA: Okay, okay. I get it. I swear, I really, really didn't mean to step on anyone's toes. I do not have a problem with homosexuality, I do not have a problem with bisexuality. Truly. I'm just going to stick what I wrote in response to chvickers's comment in here, and then we can all please just move on with our lives, please?

I just think that if it's a main character, who has been around for several books or movies or seasons or whatever and who we known all these things about it would, you know, be mentioned if they were bisexual. Because if they were, there would be absolutely no reason why there wouldn't be a subplot with another man (or woman), or them mentioning it at some point if that they were gay or, in fact, bisexual. It just completely blows my mind when fanfic writers build this entire universe around a character being openly gay and with another character when they're just not.

I think it's really more about canon vs. fanon being a priority than about sexuality. Because I think it's just as bizarre when people come up with these random-ass het pairings that have absolutely no basis in canon, and it's not even mentioned why these two characters are suddenly making out. The slash was just specifically bugging me tonight.

Okay? And please, calm down. I didn't mean to step on anyone's toes. Really. Thank you. Good night.
