In the established Russian translation tradition, the Magi are волхвы (plural), and a singular form of this word is волхв (Old East Slavic вълхвъ, Old Church Slavic влъхвъ).

The first meaning of the word is a pagan high priest; also magus, magician.

The famous novel by John Fowles is also titled «Волхв­» in Russian.

It is rather sad that the most important festival in Western culture is based on a lie; therefore, it is empty in nature.

We celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ, which, as the Catholic Church always knew and now even admits, happened during the summer!

Why do we celebrate it now?

Because the church needed to get rid of the "pagan" festival - Winter Solstice, which celebrated our connection to the natural rhythm of Nature.

Now, most people don't even know that there is Winter Solstice :/

No wonder that so many people feel disconnected and depressed, as it is totally essential to feel connected to the world around us.

Anyway, things are as they are; complaining won't get us anywhere.

Enjoy this time of family reunion (if you want to reunite), and next year, give your attention to the Sun.

I guarantee that your feeling during the holidays will be different.

Merry XMAS! (I write XMAS intentionally because there is no connection to Christ whatsoever.)

#right after Crime Of The Century came out! they all looked so young #Rick being described as the jokester of the group kind of surprised me because he is just so quiet although you can see how much fun he has #on stage and stuff like that... #the story of the groups 'sponsor' finding Rick and thinking this kid's got something and the rest is history is kind of funny to me #Rick's manner of speaking with his choice of vocabulary has effected me subconsciously since I use very strong vocabulary sometimes now lol #I love how they got interviews from everyone in the group!!! Humbug (noun): A hoax, prank, or jest.

Tumblr's creation of the unreal movie Goncharov is a playful humbug.

The knock-off boot label which inspired it is a mercenary humbug.

Ex-President D.J.T. selling NFT "trading cards" at $99 a pop is a cynical humbug to distract his followers from his deepening legal troubles.

When Charles Dickens's fictional character of Ebenezer Scrooge complained that Christmas was a humbug, he was expressing his belief that people's expressing joy and generosity during the Christmas season was all insincere and fake. And that was the tragedy of existence.

There's also a British candy called a "Humbug" (going back to the playful meaning), traditionally flavored with hoarhound, with brown stripes:

"Humbug" is also a nickname for wild boar piglets.

This year Christmas landed on a weekend!

Luckily in Sweden, there are 3 days of Christmas!

Everyone has julafton (24th) and juldagen (25th). But I’m Sweden there is another day of Christmas, the 26th. And it’s called… well… “another day of Christmas”.

Annan = Another / other

Dag = Day

Jul = Christmas

So today is called annandag jul. Another day of Christmas, because 2 is not enough.

Ps: you could argue that it could be translated to “second day of Christmas” since annan could be either second or another

meinnnn gott i was like boy this song can't be 8 & a half minutes....well the first 6 minutes of the video are phyllidia krampington loosing george salazar the krampus on everyone & their asshole (here her cousin, b/c although i swear on my life i have seen [phyllidia seducing the krampus via baby it's cold outside] photos, in this 2018 show that sequence is definitely about her trying to fuck melvin cooterstein in the ass. (note that she mentions the xmas villain's long-lost daughter harriet, as the [why are you so evil? / i don't kneauuraeaough....but it definitely doesn't have anything to do with xyz] but no long-lost presumed dead spouse, who would've been already mentioned in the 2019 show at this point though that's no incontrovertible evidence it's not relevant in this show. & my hypothesis is that if melvin is a long-lost anyone, phyllidia would be His long-lost daughter. but 50/50 could go either way! a beautiful relationship ft. the convenience of all these colonoscopies he keeps scheduling)) and then we meet the fancy tree! and don't get around to singing until phyllidia's exit & the krampus's partial sendoff to go feel better having some snacks (i.e., mingle & meander)

my mans regenerates into the man, sort of crashlands on earth, faints and falls into a coma, fights a christmas tree, faints and falls into a coma again, wakes up on an alien ship thats in the process of killing a third of earths population, discovers hes not ginger, bickers with the aliens, saves the people by smashing a big red button, challenges the master alien to a duel, gets his hand sliced off, grows it back, wins the duel, has the other fall to their death, ushers the aliens off earth, gets disgusted my the prime minister, threatens the government. all while in some robe and nighties.

sts! What’s your favorite non plot related fact about the world of runaways?

I think my favorite thing is the fact that the girl's home has a house brownie that cleans their rooms for them named Hazel. She never appears in the plot of the story but that's a reference I threw in for my little brother. He got some pretty bad burns when he was 6 and had to stay in a hospital for several weeks while we had to go home and keep doing school, so in between visits, I would write and send him short stories to keep him entertained during his treatments - and these were called "The Brownie and the Ghost". They were about these two kids, Dan and Nan, who meet their house brownie and help her catch a ghost that keeps eating her cookies, and in that story, the brownie's name was Hazel.

Jump ahead 4 years. Before I ever decided to write Runaways as a book, I just had a bunch of characters in a notes app on my phone. I persuaded my little brother and sister to help me pull weeds in the garden in exchange for a story if they would help, and I started making up the plot of Runaways on the spot as we were working through the tomatoes. I could tell they were getting bored so, so I through Hazel into the new story as a reference to the old one they loved, and they got all excited about the worlds being tied together. Hazel's made it through every draft since as a throwaway line, specifically for my siblings.

#my brother is ok now for the record #the burns were bad but he had really good medical care and our community really helped us out with the hospital bills #so he's a totally normal kid now and you can barely tell he has scars unless you look closely #he's not even afraid of campfires I'm so proud of him #he is more careful around them though lol #every time I catch them stealing biscotti from the cookie tin I yell DON'T MAKE ME GET OUT THE GHOST TRAPS it's such a fun inside joke #etta rambles #runaways #sts #I do plan to go back and clean up those stories one day and make the vocabulary childhood appropriate #they were a lot of fun I had like 8 or 10 of them by the end #there was a halloween special where ghost and a bunch of other friends like the spooky cat and mothman teamed up to prank hazel #there was a christmas special where hazel's extended relatives turned out to be santa's elves and nan and dan had to help save christmas #there was a st. patricks day special where hazel's 2nd cousin came to visit and he was a leprechaun #it was a vibe #hazel my long suffering sweetheart <3
