Mon 27th Feb:

Finally got out for a run this morning!! It's been so long but I'm trying to be nice to myself about it. It was a lovely little run and it really felt like spring, the sun was actually a little bit warm! Really enjoyed it and managed to keep a steady, sustainable pace the whole way until a little sprint and a cool down walk at the end.

Stretched, had lunch, played with Maggie a bit, did some work on my apprenticeship and then just chilled out for the rest of the day. Watched Killer Sally and am currently cuddled up on the couch with Mags waiting for Matt to get home. Back to work tomorrow but I feel well-rested and ready to get through these last 5 shifts before our week off 😍😍

It starts, again, with mostly rustling and darkness. Shardy's voice, hoarse and vibrating with tension, whispers,

"I'm takin' this so when they find my FUCKING corpse they'll know what killed me!"

The view blurs as he turns the phone, and it bcomes clear what he's talking about. Standing silhouetted in a patch of moonlight not ten feet ahead is a Xatu.

Xatu are not usually considered particularly menacing Pokemon. They're not tall, or physically imposing. But here, shadowed and silent, eyes reflecting an eerie purple, wings held outwards just enough to communicate threat... it's suddenly a lot easier to remember exactly how much power they possess. This one was busy, and it doesn't like being disturbed.

Of course, any passing fourteen-year-old on their Gym Challenge could handle it, or at least give it a run for its money. But Shardy is no peppy teenager at least half convinced of their own immortality. He's an adult man extremely aware of human fragility, and his battling skills have always been, at best, mediocre.

"Hokay, I'm gonna take that one guy's advice, and I'm gonna stand up and yell, and when it's surprised I'm gonna make a run for- hey!"

There's a rustle, and the Glaceon, barely visible except as a pale blur, leaps out of the darkness and places itself between Shardy and the Xatu. The bird Pokemon cocks its head, momentarily distracted, and Glaceon's mouth opens wide and emits a pale wisp of vapour along with a sighing, lingering, Yawning sound.

The Xatu shakes its headfeathers as the wisp winds around it, befuddled, then narrows its eyes. Shardy half-starts to reach out towards the Ice-type, then snatches his hand back; the Glaceon ignores him, bracing its paws firmly against the grass.

Abruptly, the Xatu's eyes are no longer a reflected paleness. They're a glowing darkness that seems to reach out towards its foe, grab and draw it into some unknown, mindbreaking horror. Glaceon reels, shaking, rearing up against something invisible and awful- but even as it does, its coat begins to shimmer, ripples of not-quite-colour spreading from the fur, forcing the attack away and back towards its origin.

The sound the Xatu makes as its own terrors turn upon it instead can only be described as 'offended quack'.

It snaps at the darkness, hissing, and then sways. Bemused, it takes a step towards Glaceon and Shardy, but before it can get any closer it settles, with surprising calm, onto the ground. And goes to sleep.

There's a pause. And then the video swings and blurs wildly as Shardy runs for it. There's at least thirty seconds of blurred ground and desperate panting before it cuts out.]
