Food Ideas for Car Camping
Car camping is fun, adventurous, and inexpensive. All you need is a good bunch of enthusiastic friends, a great camping car, and a few essentials, and you are all set for a great trip. However, while you canrent a car at Menorcaquite easily from Binicars for your camping vacation, you really must invest your time and efforts in other aspects, like food.
Unlike beach holidays in Spain, where there are restaurants and cafés everywhere, you’ll have to carry food, water, and even the tools to prepare food for the campsite. So, a little preparation will help you bring everything to one place. In this blog, we will tell you what kind of food suits best for car camping trips. Also, if you are flying to Menorca, you can book your camping rental car at Binicars in advance so that you can get the keys directly at Mahon Airport.
What to Source for Your Car Camping Meals?
Since you will be camping on the go, you will have to figure out something easy to eat in the car and easiest to cook. You can search through the internet to find various camping recipes popular in your country. However, here’s the basics of it:
- Super nutritional meals so that you are not easily hungry
- Easily available ingredients across any country
- Meals made out of non-perishable ingredients and which can survive in various temperatures
- One-pot meals
- Non-messy, light on stomach foods
Easy Meals and Camps – How to Bring them Together
You may get the idea (from movies, of course) that cooking in an open pit fire is fun and romantic. In truth, it is not. It is messy and inexperienced individuals can successfully burn their recipes. Therefore, we recommend carrying a 2-burner camping propane gas burner. They are much easier to use than starting up a fire.
Foods You Can Make During Camping
- Potatoes: they are easy to make, filling, tasty, and can be turned into various recipes.
Noodles and pasta: You can make the sauce and chop the veggies before starting your trip and storing it in the cooler.
- Eggs: They are handy, nutritious, and super tasty
- Bacon, cheese, and bread in the cooler.
- Make sandwiches with mayonnaise, chips, ham, veggies.
- One-pot rice like lemon rice, pulao, lentil-rice, chicken curry rice, etc.
If you don’t have a stove, snack ideas include mixed nuts, instant noodles, hummus, chips and salsa, protein balls, cakes, bananas and other fruits, and carrots.

Pearl Pulao/Pilaf . A delectable Rice Pulao with soft deep fried, Paneer balls decorated with edible silver, adorn the flavourful rice cooked in Indian spices.
Pearl Pulao or as it is popularly known as Moti Pulao is a delicacy from Awadhi Cuisine. the original version of the pulao is non-vegetarian. This rich Pulao was cooked in the kitchens of Nawab of Lucknow. Pearls or the Moti in pulao were made with egg whites poached and cooked with special technique, pounded and stuff in the intestine of chicken and in such a way that the cooked yolks resembled the real life pearls. These days this exotic Pulao is not cooked widely. I recently saw a feature on you tube, on this Pulao at NDTV cooking show hosted by Aditya Bal.
For vegetarians, there is an easy and quite simple vegetarian version of the pulao, where the Pearls or Moti in Pulao are made with the Paneer or Indian Cottage Cheese. This pulao is quite popular in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh where it is cooked during festivals as a part of Bhog(offering) to the Divine. Please update me if another other region also people make it.
Many versions of this Pulao are there, but I like this simple and no fuss version. This Pulao can be enjoyed with any creamy gravy or dal tadka. The rich flavour in this pulao comes from the use of Indian whole spices and saffron. Nuts like cashew nuts and raisins are added to enhance the richness of the pulao. I saw the vegetarian version of Pulao cooked by Chef Saransh Goila on NDTV few years back. I had forgotten about this Rice preparation till the time I saw  the non-vegetarian by Chef Aditya. Searched few recipes and every recipe was different from the other. I liked this simple version of Pulao by Chef Saransh, so here I am with this Royal Pearl Moti Pulao recipe.
It takes just a few minutes to cook it, if you have  with you fresh Paneer and boiled potato available. You can use store bought Paneer or make it at home(Homemade Paneer).
Use  good quality Basmati Rice for making this.
Let’s see how I make this Pearl Pulao/Moti Pulao
Pearl Pulao/Moti Pulao
Pearl Pulao/Pilaf ..soft Paneer balls decorated with edible silver, adoring  the flavourful rice cooked in Indian spices.
For Rice
2 Cups Basmati Rice
8-10 Cashew Nuts
8-10 Raisins(Kishmish)
1 Bay Leaf
2 Black Cardamons
2-3 Green Cardamoms
4-5 Cloves
4-5 Peppercorns
1-2 tbsp Desi Ghee/Oil
4-5 Saffron Strands
1/4 Cup Milk
1/2 Salt to taste
1/2 tsp Sugar
To make Paneer Pearls/Moti
1 Cup Soft Crumbled Paneer
1 Boiled Potato small
2 tbsp Cornstarch (Cornflour in India)
1 tsp Salt
Prepare the Rice Pulao
Wash Rice and soak it in enough water for at least 1 hr.
When ready to take rice, take a heavy bottomed pan, add ghee/oil to it.
Roast Cashew Nuts in it till light brown. Roast raisins for few seconds till it puffs up. Keep aside for later use.
In the same pan and ghee, add the whole spices, and cumin seeds. When the seeds crackle, add rice and saute for few minutes.
Add 3 Cups of water. Add salt, and  mix lightly . Cover and cook till rice is done and the water evaporates. Add the saffron milk when the rice is half done and again cook till all the liquid evaporates.
Prepare the Paneer Pearls/Moti
In a bowl, mix paneer, boiled mashed potato, cornflour and salt. Mix and make a smooth mixture.
Make small lime balls, and deep fry till light brown. I like to keep the Paneer pearls very light in color. Once done, keep aside to add in pulao.
Check for the doneness of rice, add cashew nuts and raisins and mix lightly with a spoon or fork.
Coat paneer pearls with edible silver foil while still warm. Add to the pulao before serving.
Coating  Paneer balls/pearls with edible silver foil is optional. I didn’t have any, you can use it if you want.
You can add nuts of your choice like almonds, pistachios and even cranberries.
For vegan option, infuse saffron in almond or any plant based milk or even skip it and add directly to rice with water..

New Post has been published on https://apzweb.com/sindhi-dal-and-thai-curry-pulao-in-the-time-of-lockdown/
Sindhi dal and Thai curry pulao in the time of lockdown
I started a series on Instagram called #fingeasy, featuring easy-to-make dishes. All the posts are exactly what my wife Manasi and I are eating at home: simple things that anyone can make. They aren’t strict recipes; what I am posting are broad patterns, that people can play with.
I do intermittent fasting, so breakfast is not in the picture. Of the remaining two meals, we try to keep one Indian and one non-Indian. We have a lot of Asian and stir-fries; those are easy to make. We also have soups for dinner, and make things like pastas and sundaes.
One of our favourite pastas, for instance, is the Aglio e Olio. Recently, I found some pizza seasoning in the house, and decided to use it to make some mushroom Aglio e Olio pasta, along with crushed garlic, olive oil and peperoncino chillies. I used the pizza seasoning instead of the stock cubes that I usually put in my pastas, which I had run out of. It is the kind of ridiculous thing that I would never try in my restaurants, but it was satisfying and simple.
I also wanted to make something that gave me the satisfaction of eating biryani without the elaborate process or ingredients. I had some yellow Thai curry paste, so I decided to make a one pot dish with some of the vegetables I had at home at the time. I like my pulao a little soggy, but if you want it a little dry you can cut down the water a little bit. You can add chicken, seafood or meat to this as you like. The cooking time wouldn’t change too much if the meat is cut into small pieces.
Thai curry pulao
You can use a pressure cooker or instant pot to make this
Ingredients: 1 large onion (sliced); 2 cups of rice (I prefer short grain or jasmine but literally anything you have in your larder is fine, washed and soaked for 20 mins and drained); 4 cups of water; 2 large potatoes peeled and cut into chunks; 10 whole long beans; 1 large carrot peeled and cut into chunks; 3 tbsp yellow curry paste (green or red is fine; too); 1 tbsp grated garlic;1 tbsp grated ginger; 2 tbsp vegetable oil; 1 cup coconut milk
Method: Heat some oil in the cooker, add the onion, garlic and ginger and sweat them a little.s Add the curry paste and cook till the oil starts to separate. Add all the vegetables and saute for a few minutes. Add the rice, water and coconut milk to this mix. Add some salt at this stage. Pressure cook on medium heat for four-five whistles depending on your cooker, or cook for 20 minutes at normal heat and high pressure in the Instantpot. Garnish with scallions if you like.
A major shift in my eating habits during the lockdown is that I have been eating a lot of vegetarian food, which I usually don’t. The other day, I made a spinach and kale dal — we try to make dal at least twice a week. I also tried a South Indian take on the Sindhi dal, on my wife’s recipe. She is Sindhi.
We have also been drinking a lot of buttermilk at home. We go through at least a litre of it each day, between the two of us. We also make about 300ml to 400ml of barley water lemonade — with water from strained barley, lime juice and honey. This because we noticed that we have been drinking much less water lately. When I would be working, there would always be a glass of water next to me, now there isn’t. I have cut down on coffee as well, since I don’t need the caffeine to power through the day.
Sometimes, our meals are as simple as eggs, bacon and roti. At other times, we eat something like a Thai curry pulao. I am also working on a simple sourdough recipe that people can easily make in their own homes. At some point, Manasi and I want to release a set of easy-to-cook recipes; that is also why we are trying so many out these days.
In this series, India’s popular chefs and restauteurs share their lockdown cooking habits and recipes with us.

Meal Plan
I hope everyone has had a great week! For those of you who host Halloween parties or have to send treats in for school, Skinny Mummy Cake Balls or Spooky Spider Halloween Cupcakes are sure to please!
If you’re new to my meal plans, I’ve been sharing these free, 7-day flexible healthy meal plans (you can see my previous meal plans here) that are meant as a guide, with plenty of wiggle room for you to add more food, coffee, beverages, fruits, snacks, dessert, wine, etc or swap recipes out for meals you prefer, you can search for recipes by course in the index. You should aim for around 1500 calories* per day.
There’s also a precise, organized grocery list that will make grocery shopping so much easier and much less stressful. Save you money and time. You’ll dine out less often, waste less food and you’ll have everything you need on hand to help keep you on track.
Lastly, if you’re on Facebook join my Skinnytaste Facebook Community where everyone’s sharing photos of recipes they are making, you can join here. I’m loving all the ideas everyone’s sharing! If you wish to get on the email list, you can subscribe here so you never miss a meal plan!
Also, if you don’t have the Skinnytaste Meal Planner, now would be a great time to get one to get organized for 2019! There was a print error last year, but it’s perfect now! You can order it here!

Everything is Weight Watchers friendly, I included the updated Weight Watcher Freestyle Points for your convenience, feel free to swap out any recipes you wish or just use this for inspiration!
The grocery list is comprehensive and includes everything you need to make all meals on the plan. I’ve even included brand recommendations of products I love and use often. Cross check your cabinets because many condiments you’ll notice I use often, so you may already have a lot of them.

Top food order online in Bangalore
Check Out These Top Online Food Delivery Services in Bangalore and What You Can Order From Them
It's perfect for lazy weekends, after a hard day at work, or if you just want comfort food. With lifesaving online food delivery apps, you can order a delicious meal or comfort food right at your home. We tell you about the best food delivery companies in the city, including everything from simple rajma Chawal to gourmet grills and delicious salads.
Oota Box
Do you crave home-cooked food? Oota Box has you covered. This service serves as a middleman between chefs and customers. The food is home-cooked by the people who make it. They offer a wide range of South Indian, North Indian, and Jain cuisines. However, they can also accommodate special requests if a chef has the recipe. If you're sure what you want, you can either choose the subscription option or one-time delivery. Each area will have its "best dish", but they are available in all parts of the city.
Prices are based on the order/subscription
Not healthy. They are focused on food delivery. They can deliver any food they have gathered from home cooks.
Delicious! Beverages
These guys are launching cold coffees (made with the cold brew method) and milkshakes. They have a variety of classic and flavoured beverages that will cool you down. You must try their Coffiato Classic or Coffiato Hazelnut, which are available in combos and pairs. You can also order periodic deliveries of smoothies, energy drinks, oat smoothies, and yoghurt shakes.
Prices starting at INR 100
Coffee addiction is a serious problem, especially if it has sugar and milk.
Chefkraft
You can skip the expensive mains (even though they serve two to three people), and instead opt for their full-meal salads. These range from simple Greek or Teriyaki-dressed ones to the more exotic Udon Noodle Soup, which is loaded with bulgarian mushrooms, garlic, and noodles. The 'Minis' (think chicken wings and paper rolls) will satisfy your cravings. For those who don't count calories, you can try Chefkraft Fried Chicken with wasabi-ketchup and potato wedges or their Bento Boxes. To get lunch before 1pm, you must order by 9am.
Prices: From INR 200 to INR 300
Meat-based products can be unhealthy. Lifestyle diseases can be caused by oil and processed foods.
FreshMenu
Unhealthy
These guys focus on international cuisine, shifting from the ghar–ka-khana to include everything from Chinese-inspired combos, steaks, and crepes to vegetarian options, complete with an eggless dessert. They offer Mexican, Continental, Asian, and Mexican cuisines. The good news is that they deliver almost everywhere. They deliver almost everywhere. Literally, all the way to the boondocks! We're not as passionate about the product as we once were, but we do enjoy it.
Prices: From INR 150 to INR 150
Masala Box
This app brings together the chefs of the kitchens under one roof. It delivers delicious food straight from the heart to your hearth. They are dependent on home-chefs to ensure that they can offer the best food. They're available for you to make minestrone soup or butter chicken with makhani partha, or Szechuan-fried rice with garlic poultry. They come in microwaveable containers, which are eco-friendly and can be eaten at your desk. The most popular here is Kerala cuisine.
Prices: From INR 300 to INR 300
There is no health focus.
Ready Bowl
Ready Bowl is the place to go if you like meat and biryani. They have everything you need, from Mutton Peppery Fry to Boneless Apollo Fish. If you like spicy food, try their Chettinad Chicken and Chicken 65. You can also try their Paneer Butter Masala or Baby Corn Manchurian, which are both vegetarian options. They even deliver bulk orders (by the kilo), which is great for team lunches.
Prices starting at INR 200
Focus on processed meat-based products. It is dangerous for your health.
PurpleBasil

They offer a variety of Asian, Mexican, and Modern Indian cuisines, as well as the added benefit that they are healthy. They replace unhealthy ingredients with healthier ones and know that the secret to a healthy menu is the dressing and flavoring. Aglo Olio pasta or any of the salads and Satay options are winners. You can also choose from a variety of course meals and subscribe to a subscription plan that suits your needs.
