An elephant story
Today I thought I'd share Celeste's tale. She visited the hospital over the summer. Once upon a time, she was gifted to a baby girl, but after several decades, Celeste had lost her weight and her clothes and was popping seams all over. She was in danger even from the gentlest of hugs! Here are a couple of her many diagnosis photos:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Treatment involved many steps...
Step 1: a spa. You've all seen this, and it was important not only because of her stuffing and fur compression, but to determine her natural color for any transplants. Here she is in her bubble bath:
Tumblr media
Of course when she was restuffed, she got a heart of her original stuffing, and it was gray as suited an elephant:
Tumblr media
Step 2: Recover her footpads, repair her seams and get her chubbiness right. Here she is after seam repair and foot recovering and in her first chubbiness photo:
Tumblr media
Her person wrote "She is looking fabulous!"
We ended up adding a bit more stuffing to plump her up.
Step 3: New velour tusks and a crown! If you know her story, or if you just wondered about the glue ring on her head, you may have seen this step coming:
Tumblr media
The crown isn't attached here, because her person was deciding between velour and felt. Her person wrote "Fabulous!! Love the crown!" She went for the velour. :-)
Step 4: New clothes! Here she is all better and fashionably attired in clothes like she once had (or like you may've seen in her books):
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Her person wrote: "Ohhh Celeste looks amazing!"
So she flew home --- not far, just another part of CA. And a few days later her person wrote: "Received my beautiful Celeste juat now. Thank you so much for restoring her"

Babar: Arthur's Problem - Chapter 4
As soon as Arthur's eyes were closed shut, he was suddenly met by utter darkness when they were reopened. Confused, he started to pace around, searching for something familiar.
“What is this place?” Arthur could have questioned where his lisp was, or why his vision wasn’t like looking through a dirty glass but he had more things to worry about in that moment.
"CELESTE, FLORA, ALEXANDER, POM, BABAR! ANYBODY?!" He yelled at the top of his lungs, trying to get the attention of someone. Anyone! But it was no use, because he never received a response back. After being alone with his thoughts for a moment, he came to a striking realization.

“Wait, oh lord, am I… dead?!”

enjoying smb wonder but I have so many tiny nitpicks? they don't kill the game by any means but like
-only one run button, so you can't hold one and press the other to swing the elephant trunk and shoot fireballs and such without losing speed. I was literally drafting a devblog post praising the ability to do that in Mario Maker a few days ago dhgdhdgd. I get that X is the emote button but damn
-just pressing jump while airborne and touching a wall isn't enough to perform a wall jump. you have to push into the wall to enter the wallslide state first. I don't remember if this is the case in other Marios, or maybe Celeste has just spoiled me, but it's tripped me up a few times and seems unnecessary!
-the spin jump makes no sense cause like. no matter how long you press the button it's always the same height as a full normal jump. I guess this is because it can be motion controlled? I keep pressing ZR trying to get a low jump like in Mario Maker but I get the opposite instead. beyond that it also just generally seems to have next to no utility unless you really wanna do an entire full height jump to kill a koopa without getting the shell for some reason
-no triple jump? I mean I guess a thing similar to it is a badge now but. why. they coulda done a cute rising pitch thing with the jump sfx. maybe even a full chord on the final jump. woulda sounded so nice!
-speaking of which, the spin double jump badge is best badge easy (why even use half the badges that give extra height through other means when this one does it best), but it also misses the opportunity to do a rising pitch thing with the jump sfx. idk maybe they tried it and it sounded annoying or something. just weird for the first jump to make a musical sound and the second to do something different entirely
-the emote and item reserve buttons (X and A) do nothing if pressed while the run button is held. why??
-R and ZR both spin jump. Nice. ZL ground pounds and crouches. ok nice. L does... I think it does nothing at all? why? maybe I'm missing something?
-feels like the same few music tracks get reused a lot
-there's like one level with climbable poles, and you can jump off of them as expected, but pressing spin jump does nothing. "why would you ever want to do that?? why do you care about this cass??" because uhhhhhhhhh
-I love the concept of the vine grapple badge but it feels slow and jankass to use
-I always try to let go of dash panels or drop out from ceilings I'm drilling into by releasing the jump button, but you actually have to press jump. pressing jump to go down is really counterintuitive!!
-however, pressing jump does not drop you down when hanging from a horizontal pole (a mechanic in a level or two). to do that you have to press down... and then hold it for a short time..? why can't I drop down right away? "cass it's like one level???" ok yeah but you can't spin jump out of a hang either!!! what about that!!!
-ok lastly I don't get the point of elephant mario. being big isn't really an interesting ability and the melee attack is nothing new. the water spraying doesn't add much either because even if the stage you're in does happen to have water it's not a particularly good projectile. it's mainly only useful to water withered plant dudes. a key for a lock
......anyways hdgdhsgdgs game good I'm just surprised at how many tiny things feel off. maybe this is just what happens when the small details on a game are your whole job for several months lol

100 of my favorite non hip hop releases from 2022. I made a seperate list for hip hop already which you can find here if you’re interested. 2022 will go down as a memorable year for me not just for the sheer quantity of great releases, but also because i feel that all my of my favorite genres had a chance to shine. I started returning to my hardcore/punk/metal roots within the last couple years and 2022 was the first time in recent memory where I really felt like I was fully tapped in. There were so many highly anticipated releases from a ton of different artists last year, and the majority lived up to the hype for me. Grindcore, Mathcore, and Post-Hardcore seems to have been making a huge comeback with some incredible new efforts from modern genre staples like Wormrot, Callous Daoboys, Brutus, Greyhaven, Birds in row, Knoll, and Cloud Rat. Not to mention the much welcome return of some legendary acts including Gospel, Sawtooth Grin, and City of Caterpillar. I’m sure there’s plenty of stuff I missed out on too, so feel free to hit me with any recommendations you might have or just let me know what projects you enjoyed the most last year. Oh and you can also click the titles of any of these albums and it’ll take you to the bandcamp or spotify page where you can check them out if you’d like. Peace. Chart with album titles 1. If each of the THH cast was an animal, what would it be?
Alright! Let's do this.
This isn't fursona's, this is what they WOULD be not what they THINK they'd be
I have gone on at length that Makoto is a Rabbit, a prey animal seen as timid and not very dangerous, but when cornered can actually be pretty damn fierce, he also has been noted to hop when he's excited by Kirigiri.
Hifumi is a hyena, this does not make sense unless you know a lot of about hyena dominance, if you do, then this becomes very obvious
Yasuhiro is an ostrich, eye bigger then his goddamn brain, panicky and if not handled correctly, potentially dangerous
Togami is that one goldfish that accessed a streamers credit card and did fraud, okay more seriously he's a parrot, loud, curious, repeats things you dont want repeated, and lives way longer then you think he should
Chihiro is a ferret, small and cute but endlessly curious and more dangerous then you'd expect
Kirigiri is a raven, wickedly smart with a lot of mystery and symbolism around death
Aoi is a seal, seen as happy and silly but still capable of fucking you up if you forget she's still a wild animal, if we want to get specific the Essex Common Seal turns orange
Sakura is an elephant, big and powerful, deeply kind, but capable of intense damage and vengeance if you wrong her
Junko is a cuckoo, mimicking something harmless to cause immense damage
Mukuro is a sparrowhawk, some adult cuckoos pretend to be sparrowhawks to help with their brood parasitism
Leon is a red-headed woodpecker, LOUD and causing structural damage as we speak
Sayaka is a shrike, a songbird known for stabbing prey on branches and barbed wire
Mondo is a cheetah, powerful and fast but also very prone to nervousness and anxiety and will often in zoos have support dogs
Celeste is a cat, i have nothing clever to say here, she's just a mean black cat
Ishimaru is a dog, specifically a German Shepherd, looks fierce and is a good herding dog, but is still a sweetie at heart
Toko is a plover bird, those birds that clean alligator teeth, because she tends to just kinda follow along and attach herself with assertive types
Syo is a monkey, specifically those asshole monkeys from Bali that steal your shit in exchange for food

Can you tell me about your fanfics?
What’s your favorite?
Which would you recommend to read first?
Hi there anon :)
Hmm, my fanfics are usually more on the angsty side than not. They're very Katniss/Peeta-centric and with the exception of one are all in-universe. Also, now that I think about it, a good chunk of my work focuses on the growing together period. Most of my fics are one-shots so you will usually get closure lol, but recently I have been venturing out into the world of multi-chapter fics again.
My favourite fic is one that I wrote a while back now called Isn't it Strange, and ironically it's one of my least-read fics lol. It's a song-fic... kind of - it's very much inspired by a song (Strange by Celeste, if you were wondering). It focuses on the growing together period after Mockingjay taking place in the year after the war. It's split into four sections, one for each season, and it's just very sad and emotional. Feedback that I've received on it tells me that it's also very in-character, so take from that what you will ☺️.
I would always recommend Isn't it Strange to anyone who asks, but that's just because it's my favourite. If you're looking for something more light-hearted I'd definitely check out Full Circle, which is a bit of a fix-it fic in which Prim lives :). If you want to come along for the ride on one of WIP's there's Stop the Clocks, which could always do with some more attention lol, and my more recent one The Unlikely Coming-of-Age of Katniss Everdeen (which has a likely name change in its future 🤭) where there's a new chapter well on its way to being posted. If you're looking for the most popular there's The Elephant In the Room and Silence me, Trust me, Love me - which are both post-mockingjay growing back together fics. There isn't necessarily a chronological order in which to read my work but these are some of my suggestions.
Thank you for the ask anon, and for giving me a chance to ramble and gush about my works :). Maybe I'll see you in the comment section of one (or more) of my fics... Hope this was helpful

Witchcraft 101: 10 good luck charms and their origin
Tumblr media
Celeste vecteur créé par rawpixel.com - fr.freepik.com 🖤🍄🕸️🌿🪵🌙🕷️🦋🧹☕🔮
Down on your luck ? Things not going your way lately ? Need an extra boost of good luck and fortune to help you suceed ? Omens, charms, totems and spells have long been relied on for such purposes ! We all know well the old adages about lucky pennies, the old wives' tales about horseshoes and the stories about four leaf clovers.
Good luck charms and totems are extremely varied and there is just as many stories about them as representations of them. If you need a little boost of good luck and good fortune, here you have a list of some good luck harbingers in no particular order !
-Four leaf clovers: The druids of old Celtic Ireland believed four leaf clovers were able to ward off evil and bad luck, as they would allow one to see fairies, spirits and bad portents. Celtic druids would then carry one with them to protect themelves against misfortune and evil magic, and over time their meaning changed and became more associated with good luck and good fortune.
-Horseshoes: There is a debate over how and why horseshoes are lucky. Some people say they must be hung pointing up, others that it should point down and some that it doesn't make a difference. Horseshoes might have come to be associated with good luck thanks to Chaldeans, who saw in them a representation of the moon and moon goddesses, while others insist their lucky properties are caused by the fact they are made out of iron, which protects against fairies !
-Lucky pennies: Finding money laying around is always lucky, even if it is a single penny. The belief that finding a "lucky penny" brings good luck might have its origins in the ancient belief that metal is a gift of the gods, who would leave them in the path of those that they wanted to protect. The story says that finding the penny laying face up is extra lucky as that might mean you have extra fortune on the way. Finding a penny in your path is not the only way pennies are lucky, as you can toss them into wells or over your shoulder for wish fullfillment and manifestation !
-Dandelions: Dandelions are often connected to dreams and wishes but they are also said to bring good luck. Ancient belief says that if you pick up a dandelion and blow all of its seeds off while asking for a wish, that wish will come to you. In the past, dandelions in bloom were also gifted to newlywed couples to wish them good luck, a successful marriage and financial prosperity.
-Elephants: Many different cultures believe elephants will bring you good luck. According to the Chinese precept of feng shui, elephants represent wisdom, protection and good luck ! In Hinduism they represent Ganesha, the god of good luck, fortune and protection. Elephants are harbingers of those boons and positive energies: jewelry or clothing featuring them, and home decor such as elephant statues, will bring luck and positive energies to you.
-Rainbows: Rainbows have long been associated with good luck, hope and good fortune. This might be due to the Celtic belief that states that at the "other end of the rainbow" there was a pot of gold that originated it ! Leprechauns were said to hide gold at the end of rainbows for safe keeping, and should anyone stumble upon this gold they were free to keep it. That is why rainbows have come to be associated with good luck and fortune.
-Ladybugs: Ladybugs have come to be considered lucky because they are of great help to farmers. Those well acquainted with gardens and plants know that ladybugs are fierce predators and eat pests such as aphids, which destroy crops. Seeing ladybugs in your plants meant that aphids weren't eating them, which meant they would survive and probably produce a bountiful harvest !
-Tortoiseshell cats: Tortoiseshell cats (those with a fur that combines red and black) are said to be good luck in many different cultures. Celts believed that sheltering one would bring fortune upon your household, and Japan it was believed that boats that had a tortoiseshell cat would be protected from storms, shipwrecks and ghosts. Male tortoiseshells are very rare, so they are extra lucky !
-Acorns: Acorns are a symbol of good luck and fortune that are particularly dear to witches. In Celtic tradition, when witches would meet up for Sabbats and to carry rituals they would often exchange acorns with one another to let each other know they were in safe company. Getting an acorn handed to you meant you had been recognized as a witch and you were in the company of equals. In Greek mythology, the oak and its acorn were said to be fortunate as they were blessed by Zeus the almighty, and in Norse belief oaks (which are often the tallest in a forest and thus attract lightning) were associated by Thor, the god of lightning. After storms, druids would go out and collect acorns which were "miraculously and luckily untouched by the lightning".
-The Glückspilz (Amanita muscaria): Amanita muscaria is said to be particularly lucky in german folklore. This bright red capped mushroom with dainty white dots is a common Christmas ornament in Germany, where it is called the "lucky mushroom". This mushroom honours the beauty and prosperity of nature, and it is said to be lucky during Christmas and the turning of the year !
I hope you have enjoyed this short article. I am experimenting with this new format to give witches different ideas on how to use different symbols and charms in their spells. If you enjoyed it let me know and I will be more than happy to make a part 2 !

How futile to believe you could ever share your experience with another.
He can’t imagine it. She can see it on his face: the puzzled look of someone trying to feel what they’ve never felt. To see what they’ve never seen. Her father had told her a parable once, blind men trying to describe an elephant, able to grasp it only in parts—a wall, a snake, a fan, a spear. A cautionary tale: how futile to believe you could ever share your experience with another.

Arthur's Problem chapter 3 is out now!
Here's a bit of a preview of what to expect later into the chapter:
As the light outside from the hallway lit up Arthur's room, Babar and Celeste saw what looked like an elephant figure covered in a blanket sitting up on the center of the bed. It was so silent that you could hear a piece of grass brushing the floor.
Celeste took a step closer to the bed, clearly uneasy about the atmosphere of the room from the contrast in the hallway, but she had a job to do.
"Arthur, um, we need to talk about what you did today." Arthur didn't budge at all, not even a bit. This didn't discourage Celeste from continuing.
"Listen Arthur, being your sister I just want to understand why you felt the need to leave the children behind out of nowhere. Babar told me it might be something to do with you picking up your "new habit" that I wasn't aware of, and-"
Celeste was abruptly cut off by chuckles which came directly from her brother. What made Babar's and Celeste's spine tingle is that these weren't Arthur's regular jolly chuckles, but something more colder.
Taunting almost as if Celeste just told the greatest joke of the century.
"Of‐a course he had to tell you, what else to expect." Arthur slurred, which was followed by more laughter.
