Off-Screen Event: The Final Battle Pt. 1
(Music Box: Team Galactic Appears! from Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl)
“Who the hell are you!” Kazoku shouted at the flying woman.
“Normally I’m not one for theatrics but since there’s not much you can do to stop me anyways, I’ll indulge for a bit.” The woman said. “My name is J and I am a Pokemon Hunter. The best of the best. And you have just handed me the last piece I need to complete my mission.” “Mission? What mission?” Mare asked.
“Not very smart, are you.” J said dismissively. “I’m here to capture Mew, of course. And I’ll succeed too.”
“We won’t let you!” Mare shouted.
“Oh, won’t you?” J asked.
She tapped a button on her gauntlet and fired off a large energy net. None of the five were able to dodge out of the way in time and were immediately pinned down. They struggled but only wound up shocked.
J landed. She took a music box out from seemingly nowhere and placed it on the ground in front of her. Out of her coat pocket she produced two more pyramids just like the one found in Regirock, one silver and one blue. She placed each one in a slot on the music box and it popped open and began to play.
(Music Box: A Farewell to Kirby from Kirby Star Allies)
As the music box played pink light began to swirl in front of it. Sparkles flew every which way like stardust. Eventually, it all came together to form a bubble, inside of which was a sleeping Mew. The bubble popped and Mew opened its eyes. “Mew.” It said blearily.
It got no chance to wake up as it was immediately turned to stone by J’s gauntlet. J grabbed it out of the air before it fell and affixed a device to it, which turned into a glass case.
“And here my pathetic daughter is wasting her time with Snag Balls.” She scoffed. Wait, did this mean she was Victoria’s mom? The resemblance was there. “Nothing more than toys compared to my tech.” She reactivated her jetpack and rose up into the air. “Now, if you’ll excuse me I’ll be taking my leave. I’d say it’s been a pleasure but it hasn’t.”
“Not so fast!” A male voice called out.
J gritted her teeth. She recognized that voice. She turned to see who else but the Team Rocket Trio standing atop a cliff wearing… jetpacks?
(Music Box: Team Rocket Motto (Kanto Version) from Pokemon: The Series)
“Prepare for Trouble!” Jessie shouted.
“Make it Double!” James shouted.
“To protect the world from devastation!”
“To unite all people within our nation!”
“To denounce the evils of Truth and Love!”
“To extend our reach to the stars above!” “Jessie!”
“And James!” “Team Rocket blasts off at the speed of light!” “Surrender now or prepare to fight!” “Meowth! Dat’s right!” “Wobbuffet!”
“What are you idiots doing here!” J snarled.
“We're ain’t gonna letcha nab dat Mew!” Meowth shouted.
“What!” J shouted, incredulous. “I’m stealing this for your boss! What’ll he say when he finds out you idiots messed this up!”
“So we’ll get a few demerits.” James said flippantly. “We’ll be back by next week. We’re too popular to fire.”
“It doesn’t matter what the boss does to us.” Jessie said defiantly. “We were there on New Island. We can’t allow another Mewtwo to be created.” “Wobbuffet!” Wobbuffet agreed.
(Music Box: Battle! Team Galactic Commander from Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl)
The three of them activated their jetpacks and dived downwards. James went straight for J while Meowth nabbed the frozen Mew as well as a knife like object from her belt. He tossed the object to Jessie who flew down to the five heroes.
“Team Rocket?” Riley said, confused.
“These weirdos are Team Rocket?” Mare asked.
“Yes, yes we’re over dramatic drama queens get it out of your system.” Jessie said dismissively. “Now hold still.”
The knife-like object, as it turned out, was a knife. A laser knife. She used it to cut the energy net binding them. Do not ask how that works.
“Thanks.” Riley said. “But why-”
“We already said why, weren’t you paying attention?” Jessie said with her hands on her hips. “Listen, twerps, this is a temporary truce. After this we go back to being evil. Now come on, lets beat this breakout bitch.”
Up in the air, J broke away from James and dived after Meowth.
“Quick! Hit her with one of your aura ball things before she reaches Meowth!” Jessie shouted.
“Aura Sphere.” Kazoku corrected flatly.
“Whatever.” Jessie said. “Just hit her!”
“On it!” Mare shouted.
She drew back her hands and fired off an Aura sphere, hitting J square on and knocking her out of her flight trajectory.
“Why you!” She shouted.
She reached into her coat and took out two Pokeballs. She tossed them in the air and out popped two of the strangest Pokemon any of them had ever seen. One was a strange feathery Salamence, similar to a Mega Salamence and yet very different. The other was a robotic Gallade with a double bladed laser glaive.

Persian for Pokemon Unite!
Tumblr media
Season 1
Season 2
Prev: Cradily - Hatterene - Tropius - Cacturne - Ditto - Weavile - Ogerpon - Coalossal - Gogoat - Galarian Slowbro - Luxray - Breloom - Uxie, Mesprit, & Azelf - Wobbuffet - Obstagoon - Lanturn - Castform - Dusknoir
Cats are some of the most charming, endearing, and adorable animals we know of, and they can also be cruel, uncaring, and devious. The same is true of many cat pokemon, especially Persian, who has been around since Generation 1, throwing a hissy fit here and there. It even had a different form in Alola, though that regional form is already in the game, and this post is only about one cat.
They say that Persian and Meowth are cats that bring good fortune, so let’s find out if we’re lucky to get these fickle felines in Pokemon Unite.
-
Tumblr media
Back in the olden days, these numbers would've been more than acceptable. A high Speed stat of 115 makes Persian faster than most pokemon back in Pokemon Red and Blue. Low stats everywhere else are pitiful, but they were meant to balance its high speed, especially since the critical hit rate was based on the Speed stat. But then the critical hit ratio of the game was changed a Generation later, and now Persian falls behind in every facet aside from its high speed. Maybe it's overdue for a rework, but since it was carried by its niche of dealing critical hits very quickly, we have to work with what we've got. For that reason, Persian is fitted for the role of a...
Speedster
-
Basic Attack - Melee/Attack
Becomes a boosted attack after three hits. When the boosted attack is used, the user lunges towards the enemy, then starts swatting at them furiously with their claws. This attack deals damage multiple times, and the number of hits can be increased by mashing the basic attack button.
When the boosted basic attack is used, the pokemon leaps to the target and begins to hit them repeatedly with one paw. If multiple enemies are nearby, the higher priority target is chosen, depending on your basic attack button settings.
The boosted basic attack deals damage 5 times. More hits can be dealt by mashing the basic attack button, one additional beat per press.
You know how when your cat gets excited and they do this single paw strike repeatedly? Like when they are bothered by another cat and they lash wildly with single claw strikes? That is basically Persian's boosted basic attack, unleashing its restrained fury on the target.
It takes three hits to boost the attack, which is a bit on the slow side, but it's intended to be used carefully. Persian will leap at the target and sit there swatting furiously for a solid second, which is long enough for an enemy to counterattack. A whole second of damage leaves you open for the enemy and their teammates to retaliate, so make sure you pick your targets carefully.
If you do go for the attack, you can make the most of it by mashing the basic attack button. You'll add more hits to the boosted attack in this way, and talented button mashers will benefit the most from unleashing their inner cat.
You know who you are.
-
Ability: Technician
The user’s moves deal more damage the less Aeos Orbs there are in your Score Pocket.
Your moves deal increased damage the less Aeos Orbs you have in your Score Pocket. The formula increases your moves power by 1% for each missing Aeos Orb. This means that an empty Score Pocket of 30 increases your Moves power by 30%. As the Score Pocket expands, so does Technician’s potential power boost, maxing out to 50% at Level 12 and higher.
There's a saying that goes 'More money, more problems' which serves to highlight how excess riches can be problematic when others know you have wealth to share. Well, the opposite is true, in that if you have no money, you'll have no problems dealing with people that want your fortunes, or lack thereof. After all, cats don't need money.
And this one doesn't need Aeos Orbs either. When you have no Aeos Orbs to score a goal with, you're essentially very poor in Pokemon Unte. This poverty turns into power when boosted by Persian's Technician, increasing your damage by 1% for each missing Aeos Orb. 1% for each missing point means that you power maxes out to 30% at the beginning of the game, 40% from Level 8 to 11, and 50% at Level 12 onward.
Now, this does mean that your moves weaken the more wild pokemon you defeat, as KO'ing them for EXP also fills your Score Pocket with points. Fortunately, a simple score will completely deplete all of your Aeos Orbs, and help you win the game too, I guess.
But there's another way to spend your Aeos Orbs. Persian and Meowth are cats that think they're royalty, so they have a habit of throwing money around like confetti.
-
Tumblr media
At the beginning of the game, Persian will start out as Meowth. You can choose between Pay Day and Scratch as your first move. By Level 3, you’ll have learned both.
-
Move 1: Pay Day (Ranged)
The user throws coins at the enemy, dealing damage. This move can be used repeatedly while on cooldown, consuming Aeos Orbs instead. If this move hits an opposing Goal Zone while consuming Aeos Orbs, the Aeos Orbs used will be collected in the Goal Zone and will be added to the total points scored by you or an ally. 5s cooldown.
Pay Day can be used repeatedly while the move is on cooldown, but it will cost 3 Aeos Orbs to do so each time. If you have less than 3 Aeos Orbs, you cannot use Pay Day off of cooldown.
If Aeos Orbs are used up during Pay Day, and the projectile lands within an opposing Goal Zone, the Aeos Orbs used will be collected and added to the total number of points scored by you or an ally. Collected Aeos Orbs can be seen underneath the Goal Zone’s HP, shown as ‘+X’ with X being the number of Aeos Orbs collected so far.
Any extra points that contribute to a score will be attributed to you in the Results Screen.
If you are KO’d before the points are scored, the collected Aeos Orbs will disappear from the opposing Goal Zone.
By itself, Pay Day launches a small projectile of golden coins directly forward. It's flashy, but it doesn't have any effect when it hits an enemy, aside from dealing damage.
The main draw is to use the move while it's on cooldown. Pay Day can be used repeatedly, but it costs 3 Aeos Orbs to do so. Having a reliable projectile like this is handy, but contingent on having the Aeos Orbs to spare. On the upside, throwing away your points like this does ensure that Technician powers up after each use, giving you the ability to consistently apply offensive pressure on the enemy team.
It also messes with the points of the opposing Goal Zone. When you throw Pay Day at a Goal Zone using Aeos Orbs, the amount you spend get added to a 'collection' within the zone. It's not exactly scoring, but the Orbs spent don't disappear. Rather, the Orbs you use up will be scored along with whatever you or an ally dunk when making a score. So, if you add 3 points to a Goal Zone and then score 15 points, the total points scored add up to 18 altogether.
You can add lots of Orbs to opposing Goal Zones in this way, especially if it's prone to breaking. Sadly, you can't affect your own Goal Zone in this way, but Meowth is fickle about how it flaunts its wealth. At least it's contributing to the scoreboard in this way, especially since Pay Day will still add points even if it hits an enemy guarding it.
Oh, but the points will all be lost if you get KO'd, which is easy enough since you're a Speedster. Better make your contributions scarce but meaningful.
-
Move 2: Scratch (Dash)
A jumping scratch attack that deals damage two times in quick succession. 2s cooldown.
Scratch deals damage two times, once near the beginning of the attack, and once more near the end of the dash.
A simple scratching attack, what more could you want?
Well, I guess we could talk about how fast the cooldown is. 2 seconds is ridiculously fast for a dashing move, even for a Speedster. However, keep in mind that Meowth doesn't pack a lot of power in its claws and has to rely on Technician to help it deal damage. It's a good thing the move has very low cooldown, as not only can it be used repeatedly to move about on the map, but you can dive in and out of a fight easily.
But like I said before, you're a Speedster, so a stray hit will put you out of commission for a while. Even evolving into Persian won't help your bulk much, but it does come with a stronger variant of Pay Day to help you out.
-
Tumblr media
At Level 5, Meowth will evolve into Persian. At the same time, Pay Day becomes either Power Gem or Swift.
-
Move 1a: Power Gem (Ranged)
The user launches a sparkling gemstone from its forehead, dealing damage to the enemy and reducing their Defense for a short time. This move can be charged for additional power and expanded area of effect. This move can be used again while on cooldown, using Aeos Orbs instead, and consumes more Aeos Orbs when charging, dealing more damage in this way. If this move lands in an opposing Goal Zone, the Aeos Orbs used for this attack are collected and added to the total points scored by you or an ally. 5s cooldown.
At Level 11, Power Gem becomes Power Gem+.
Deals increased damage.
Power Gem reduces Defense by 50% for 3 seconds. This debuff can be reapplied with consecutive uses of Power Gem.
The move can be charged for 0.75 seconds, increasing the damage dealt by as much as 100% and expanding the blast radius, making it possible to hit multiple enemies.
While the move is on cooldown, Power Gem can be used again at the cost of 5 Aeos Orbs. Charging the move fully costs an additional 5 Aeos Orbs. When used in this way, Power Gem deals an extra 50% more damage.
Similar to Pay Day, Power Gem will add Aeos Orbs to a Goal Zone when the move lands within the area. All effects are the same in this regard, such as the collected Aeos Orbs contributing to the total points scored when done by you or an ally.
Power Gem+ increases the base damage of the move by 40%.
They say money makes the world go 'round. If that's true, gems must make it ballistic, considering how bright and sparkly they are.
Power Gem is slightly slower than Pay Day, but the power boost is noticeable. It reaches farther and has a small blast radius, making it effective at catching ranged enemies. This sparkly spritz can also be charged, increasing not only the attack power of Power Gem, but also the size of the explosion.
If you manage to hit multiple enemies with Power Gem, you'll be rewarded with a Defense reduction debuff plaguing all affected enemies. A solid hit is the perfect opening for you to follow up with either Scratch or a boosted basic attack, especially since their Defense is reduced by a whopping 50%. It only lasts for 3 seconds, but you can reapply the debuff liberally by using it again and again.
Just like Pay Day, Power Gem can be used while on cooldown, at the cost of some Aeos Orbs. It's a lot more expensive, though, asking for 5 Orbs initially. It costs another 5 Orbs to charge, making the move costly to use when you just evolved, as your Score Pocket maxes out to just 30 by the time you learn Power Gem. Until you Level Up some more and amass a pile of riches to your name, you should be careful with how you spend your Aeos Orbs.
This move also messes with the opposing Goal Zone in the same way as Pay Day, in that any Aeos Orbs spent will be collected and contribute to the next score that gets made. Of course, the odds of this happening are pretty slim, since any enemy on the opposing Goal Zone is gonna be bulkier than you can handle. Power Gem is better off serving you out in the open, hunting for KO's. You can worry about making a meaningful score later on in the game, when there are less enemies guarding their Goal Zones, after you've KO'd them all.
Some cats get by with their agility and reflexes alone. You'll feel like you have 8 extra lives if you learn Swift instead.
-
Move 1b: Swift (Ranged/Sure-Hit)
The user hisses and raises its tail and the fur on its back. It then launches multiple star projectiles forward in a conical shape, dealing damage to any enemy hit. When an opposing pokemon is hit by one of these star projectiles, the user flips and sends out even more star projectiles, honing in on affected enemies. This move can be used repeatedly during the second part of the attack, launching more star projectiles in exchange for Aeos Orbs. If these star projectiles charged with Aeos Orbs damage an enemy within an opposing Goal Zone, the Aeos Orbs used will be collected and added to the total points scored by you or an ally. 8s cooldown.
At Level 11, Swift becomes Swift+.
Increases the number of star projectiles thrown. Reduced cooldown.
The initial ‘charge’ of Swift takes 0.75 seconds. Persian can continue to move while preparing Swift but at 70% reduced Movement Speed.
The star projectiles are thrown out in a conical shape in the designated direction. If an enemy is hit, Persian will perform a flip, just like Espeon when it uses Stored Power. During this flip, more star projectiles are launched, honing in on all enemies damaged by the first part of the attack. Persian can direct itself while doing this.
When Swift hones in on an enemy, an additional two stars are launched. Swift+ increases this number by an additional two.
Before the attack ends, Swift can be used again to repeat the attack at the cost of 5 Aeos Orbs. The star projectiles will continue to hone in on the enemy until they move out of range, in which case the attack will fail. Swift will go on cooldown when the move ends, whether it’s because you’ve run out of Aeos Orbs or you choose to stop attacking.
Just like Pay Day and Power Gem, Swift will add Aeos Orbs to a Goal Zone if they damage an enemy within the opposing Goal Zone. These points will then be added to the total points scored by either you or an ally. The collected Aeos Orbs will disappear if you are KO’d.
Swift+ reduces the cooldown to 6 seconds.
Now, I don't know what a 'Speed Star' is, exactly, but I do know that pokemon that can use the move are capable of mustering up the least bit of energy needed to use this attack. For Persian, while it could use the powerful normality of its Normal Typing, it instead opts to source the power for Swift from its funding. Just like with Power Gem, Swift is backed by Persian's hidden wealth. I mean, shining stars could be a currency somewhere in the world, right? Like a coin with a star minting...
I digress. Persian's Swift is a two part attack that throws out pretty pearly pointed projectiles at potential opponents. The first part scatters the stars all willy-nilly, whereas the second part launches additional projectiles that track down all who got struck by Swift.
Persian likes to move nimbly while using Swift as well. It stalls for a bit to muster up the energy to use the move, but then it flips out quite literally, throwing the attack out in one smooth motion.
This is relevant to the move because, before the second part of the attack finishes, Swift can be used again to launch more projectiles, at the cost of some Aeos Orbs. It's 5 points per use, but if you can afford it, you'll see that Persian quite literally dances about while showering stars on the opposing team like a prejudiced storm of shooting stars.
It hits the opposing Goal Zone in the exact same way as Pay Day and Power Gem, although it's much more likely to contribute to the score total due to the habit of enemies retreating when under attack.
Now, as long as you have points to spare, you can cash in with Swift to secure a KO. The attack doesn't miss and the stars remember the enemy hit by the first part of the attack, so all you have to do is keep the enemy within your line of sight.
There's a couple of problems with Swift, however. Like I mentioned before, it's quite expensive, especially at Level 5 when you learn the move. Your Score Pocket at the moment maxes out to just 30, meaning you can afford, at most, an additional 6 extra shots of Swift. It's not unlikely you can get more if you're moving about enough to pick up stray Aeos Orbs off the ground or when you score a KO on an enemy with Swift, but moments where you empty your bank account completely to KO an opposing pokemon will be common until you Level up considerably.
Also, Swift stops working when the enemy is too far away. If you can't see them on screen any more, Swift won't be able to come out. Also, the projectiles can be body blocked by other opposing pokemon, limiting the total damage you deal to a single target. The stars will hurt though, but this will be a problem if it's an opposing Defender coming between you and the target, and the Defender is rapidly approaching you.
For major team fights, it's a great skill to have as it allows you to move, ahem, swiftly on the sidelines, throwing stars everywhere. Just keep in mind that you can't use your other move until Swift ends.
Speaking of which, Scratch is lame. You better Level Up some more in order to fully realize the potential of this precious purring pal.
-
At Level 7, Scratch becomes either Slash or Fury Swipes.
-
Move 2a: Slash (Dash/Melee)
A leaping slash that has a high chance of dealing critical damage. 3.5s cooldown.
At Level 13, Slash becomes Slash+.
Extends the dash distance and increases the critical hit chance of the move.
Slash has a 35% chance to deal a critical hit with each strike. Slash+ increases these odds to 45% and doubles the attack distance.
After covering the complex mechanics of Power Gem and Swift, Slash and Fury Swipes feel breathtakingly simple to go over. A jumping slash attack reminiscent of a wild cat ambushing its prey, you can bet it would leave some deep scars.
The low cooldown of the move is its strongest factor, as Persian is a no nonsense kind of cat. Being able to unleash a critical hit diving attack at any moment is the greatest ploy of any fickle feline.
The move gains increased power from Technician, just like Power Gem and Swift, but the critical hit rate magnifies this damage bonus when it happens. Of course the bonus will be times zero if your Score Pocket is full, so it's best to use this move after exhausting your Aeos Orbs from using those moves, or even after scoring.
Although, relying on chance for extra damage is a bold task, for a frail Speedster. Maybe some players will prefer stability in the form of Fury Swipes.
-
Move 2b: Fury Swipes (Dash/Melee)
A mighty leaping scratch attack that attacks twice in quick succession. If damage is dealt successfully, resets the cooldown of this move. 9s cooldown.
At Level 13, Fury Swipes becomes Fury Swipes+.
The user becomes Invincible briefly after KO’ing an opposing pokemon.
Both hits of Fury Swipes must land in order to reset the cooldown of the move.
Fury Swipes+ grants you 2 seconds of Invincibility when you KO an opposing pokemon with this move.
Big cats wear down their prey with quick, precise cuts in order to exhaust them. If they can do this multiple times before the prey retaliates, it reduces the danger of engaging a risky opponent. That is the idea behind Fury Swipes, a series of piercing claw strikes meant to bring the opposing pokemon down with surgical precision.
The two claw strikes of Fury Swipes are meant to be spaced just enough to barely hit an enemy at the same time. That's because, if both hits land, Fury Swipes rewards the player by resetting the cooldown of the move. This requires proper spacing and timing, especially against twitchy opponents like other Speedsters, but the extra damage is always worth it, especially with Technician at or near full power.
The move is better used against single opponents by themselves rather than those covered by their teammates, as even though Fury Swipes is more likely to land both hits in a crowd, you are also just as likely to get KO'd almost instantly. If you really want to use this move to dive into a crowd of enemies, you should wait until the move has upgraded, as you get temporary invincibility when you KO an enemy. This lets you tear the enemy team to shreds without any danger to your well-being, as long as you're aiming at frail and weakened opposing pokemon.
Other than that, it's a solid move to use against Wild pokemon, since it's so easy to position this attack to hit twice and get cooldown resets. The damage increases even more with Technician, though you'll see a damage reduction when your Score Pocket starts filling up.
Just use Power Gem or Swift at every opportunity. It's not like money grows on trees or anything.
-
Unite Move: Royal Cat Nap (Recovery/Buff)
The user stops battling and begins to take a quick nap. The more HP it restores, the more Aeos Orbs it receives. Afterwards, the user’s Attack and Movement Speed drastically increase for a short while.
This Unite Move fully restores the user’s HP over a set amount of time. For each percentage of HP restored, Persian will get 1 Aeos Orb added to its Score Pocket. A minimum of 50% of your HP restored will fill up a Score Pocket by 50 Points at Level 12.
The Unite Move ends after 7 seconds or when your HP is fully restored. It will cancel if you receive damage from an opposing pokemon. If used at full HP, the Unite Move ends after 3 seconds.
Your Attack and Movement Speed increases by 80% for 7 seconds afterwards if the Unite Move is allowed to finish.
A recovery move is pretty useless when a frail Speedster has access to it, but when it's an entire Unite Move, it may be the worst in the entire game. Ah, but the point of the move isn't to heal, but to earn Aeos Orbs without having to lift a finger. Persian's high pedigree allows it to make some serious cash, as Royal Cat Nap serves not only to line your pockets, but empower you afterward.
First of all, it is a full refill of your HP, which would be overpowered on anything other than a frail Speedster, but it is still conditional healing. The healing ends when you get hit by an attack, which comes by easy enough with things like Decidueye's Shadow Sneak or Mewtwo's Infinite Psyburn. If you want to take a nap in peace, you'll need to find a nice quiet spot of grass somewhere nearby, not too close to the action, but just close enough that you can rejoin the fray when your HP has been refilled.
If you happen to use Royal Cat Nap with 0 points in your Score Pocket, you'll receive Aeos Orbs for each percentage of HP restored. This may seem counterproductive to the Technician Ability, but you do need points to utilize the bonus effects of Power Gem or Swift. You get to keep the points even if the Unite Move gets cancelled, though it's not a guarantee that you'll survive the followup attacks.
With those extra points, you can make for another score very easily. Supposedly, if you used Power Gem on a weakened Goal Zone, you'll have amassed a load of points to overflow when you or an ally score a goal next. If you follow up with a full Score Pocket after using Royal Cat Nap, the overflow of points on a single Goal Zone will be exponential.
And that's not even covering the boost you get afterwards. If you get a good night's sleep using Royal Cat Nap, you'll be rewarded with a massive boost to your Attack and Movement Speed. If you boost your Attack stat with items, the boon will magnify as a result, but only if you complete the Unite Move in its entirety.
Now that's all well and good, but what if you don't need HP recovery? What if you used Royal Cat Nap while you're already at full HP? Well, the Unite Move duration will be drastically reduced to 3 seconds, but you won't get any Aeos Orbs added to your Score Pocket, since no HP was recovered. So what would happen if you used Royal Cat Nap at full HP, no points in your Score Pocket, and come out of the move with a Unite shield, an 80% Attack and Movement Speed boost, and 50% boost gained from Technician?
Terrible, horrible, things, I wouldn't dare dream of it.
-
Achievement
Start a 4 KO Streak with Technician at full power.
A Speedsters job is simple; secure KO's against the most important members of the opposing team, whether they be high damage dealing ranged Attackers, impenetrable Defenders, or reliable Supporters. Sometimes they KO one opposing pokemon and retreat for a job well done. Sometimes they go overboard and go on a killing spree, it happens.
But for Persian, a lot of how it plays as a Speedster revolves around its moves and how it utilizes Aeos Orbs, and how the resource affects it in turn. For example, it needs to have a nearly empty Score Pocket in order to fully power up Technician and its moves, but it also needs a couple of Aeos Orbs in order to repeatedly use Power Gem and Swift. It's a delicate balance of supply and demand that our noble feline has to master in order to play a Speedster well.
But the end goal is the same. Use your abilities and skills together to contribute to the team as much as you can. One way of doing this is to start a KO streak while at 0 points in your Score Pocket. It doesn't matter what happens before that, as long as the first KO happens when you're penniless. Maybe you've used up all your Aeos Orbs to get the streak going, maybe you went buck wild with Power Gem or Swift. Whatever the case, the opportunity to deal some serious damage will present itself to you afterwards, allowing you to fulfill your duties as a Speedster.
Like a cat let loose on a ship crawling with rats.
-
Holowear
Persian's royal disposition lends itself to a wide variety of regal, and expensive, holowear, but we need most of them to be affordable to the average trainer in order to make a profit.
To that end, Larcenous Style Holowear models Persian after the burglar trainer from Pokémon Red and Blue, with a mouth covering, sunglasses, baseball cap, and a sack full of not pokeballs, but Aeos Energy. Hunter Style Holowear gives it a straw conical hat, a cloak tattered in ends, a toy sword strapped to its side, and a large bag of money on the other side. Leaning on the regal side of things, Captain Style Holowear gives it a big pirate's hat, an eyepatch, a captain's suit and boots, and a toy blade strapped to its hilt. And I guess Persian does need Regal Style Holowear to flaunt its wealth, with a big glittering crown, royal attire, overly fancy cape, and another toy rapier strapped to it. Lastly, Sultan Style Holowear makes it resemble a rich man from the desert, with a fancy head wrapped in bandages and jewels, a vest, baggy pants, and curly boots.
Persian really only wants high effort Holowear, to show that we value it as much as it thinks it's worth.
-
Strategy
A common misconception about Speedsters is that they are only good at getting KO's and that they're basically the melee version of Attackers. It's true that they are capable of dealing enough damage to get a KO streak going, but their fidgety nature lends them to make for some risky gambits when it comes time to score. You could use up a Dash move to give chase to a weakened enemy, or make a desperate run for the enemy Goal Zone to get the point lead, or both. No better time to dunk 100 points than when the entire enemy team is respawning.
All playable pokemon have a rating that shows their scoring potential, and Persian would have an unusually high rating, even for a Speedster. That's because of its choice of attack in either Power Gem or Swift, and how spending Aeos Orbs on these attacks not only makes it stronger, but also weakens opposing Goal Zones by imposing 'credit' on them.
By itself, Persian isn't able to make use of this credit system it instills on opposing Goal Zones, as they are usually guarded by 2 or 3 opponents. But if it played smart, it can incur a 45 point credit, then cash it all in with just a score goal of 5 points. It could do this, or it could let another pokemon make this score for it.
Building up credit for its allies to cash in makes it possible for Persian to contribute plenty of points to the scoreboard without ever making a goal itself. It requires coordination from teammates to achieve this, but any roundabout way to avoid direct confrontation with the opposing team is favorable for a frail Speedster like itself.
Between Power Gem and Swift, the former doesn't need a target to hit in order to add credit to a Goal Zone, but the latter does. The tradeoff is that Power Gem is a bit risky to use against opponents due to the windup, but the Defense debuff makes it worth the effort. Swift is a lot safer due to the evasive nature of the move, but it can become expensive to use as an attack if you were to use the move repeatedly in one sitting.
The choice between Slash and Fury Swipes can be chalked up to style. Slash is a direct attack that relies on chance to get the most damage, whereas Fury Swipes can deal multiple hits reliably with carefully placed cuts. Both moves deal more damage exponentially with the boost from Technician, so the best time to go on the offensive with these attacks would be right after making a score or after exhausting all of your points through Power Gem or Swift.
Speaking of points, your Unite Move, Royal Cat Nap, is one of the more difficult boons to take advantage of due to the function of the move. You get Aeos Orbs for each percentage of HP you restore, but a frail Speedster like Persian doesn't have a lot of HP to spare in the first place. Most stray hits will take you down to half HP or more, so it's not feasible to use this move to clutch your survival.
It won't even save you in that regard, as the Unite Move will cancel if you get hit while sleeping. What makes this move worth using in the first place? Well, considering that Royal Cat Nap has the potential to completely fill your Score Pocket, it has to do so on a risk versus reward system. You need points to use Power Gem or Swift at their full power, and using up points in this way slowly boosts Technician. The Unite Move also boosts your Attack and Movement Speed greatly if it is allowed to finish, giving Power Gem and Swift some extra kick. If the Unite Move is used while at full HP, it'll end after 3 seconds, giving you the boosts but without any Aeos Orbs. Imagine the damage you can deal with a fully powered Technician boost.
Persian is a fickle cat pokemon with some very refined taste, but its battle prowess is not to be underestimated. There's a reason trainers tolerate its fussy fervor, as this ferocious feline fights with flash and force, finishing in first place in contests of strength. It just demands to be pampered afterward.
-
And that's Persian for Pokemon Unite! Considering the fact that Persian and Meowth are themed around luck and good fortune, basing their movesets around 'money', or Aeos Orbs, seemed like a no-brainer. That said, it does feel like I'm missing an opportunity to feature Meowth by itself. Could it be possible to make a moveset for Meowth as a Supporter? Who knows.
Well, enough chit-chat. That'll be it from me. See ya!

AG 118 - "Who, What, When, Where, Wynaut?"
With the idea of making Advanceshipping more hinted at throughout the new version of the advanced series, I thought it’b be important to go over the new version of "Who, What, When, Where, and Wynaut?”, in which would be one of several major Advanceshipping-focus episodes. And as a little treat, Richie and Sparky (along with Richie’s other Pokemon) make a come back in this episode. And Brendan Birch appears too.
And the plot is just below. And i hope you all enjoy reading it.
The group are gathered on the top of a cliff as Ash prepares himself psychologically for the Ever Grande League. Ash and Pikachu yell at the waves, since they are very determined to get to the Hoenn League. Max reminds May that she needs one last ribbon, while she already imagines herself in the Grand Festival. Meanwhile, Drew is also doing some training on another cliff. As a large wave approaches, Drew has his Masquerain use Silver Wind to destroy the wave before it hits. They come to Drew, who admits that technique he was training will be used in the Grand Festival. May shows her four ribbons, claiming she needs one more to enter the Grand Festival. Drew shows all five ribbons, warning May that the Grand Festival will be in 6 weeks. However, he also notes there is but one more Contest before that: in the Pacifidlog Town, marking either May wins it or she cannot enter the Grand Festival. May grins, claiming she WILL win the Contest. Drew claims she is still happy and clueless, which infuriates May. Thus, she challenges Drew to a battle, and he accepts the challenge. However, before the battle can begin, Richie and Brendan Birch appear, surprising the group. Pikachu and Sparky happily clap their hands. Richie brings out the rest of his Pokemon; Charmeleon (nicknamed Zippo) Butterfree (nicknamed Happy) Pupitar (nicknamed Cruise) Taillow (nicknamed Rose). Brendan brings out Swampert, Mightyena, Flygon, Walrein, Aggron, and Shiftry. Ash says it’s nice to see Brendan and Richie again.
While Ash, Max, and Brock catch up with Brandan and Richie, Drew and May start the battle. Beautifly uses Silver Wind on Masquerain, but Masquerain breaches through the attack unscathed, then uses the same attack on Beautifly, but the latter evades as well. Before they can finish, Team Rocket appears and attempts to steal Pikachu, Sparky, and the other Pokémon. The vacuum on their mecha is too strong, however, and Ash, May, Max, Brock, Brendan, Richie, and Drew are sucked into the vacuum as well; messing up Team Rocket’s plans. The sucked-in group breaches the wall and everyone piles onto Team Rocket. Max inadvertently presses a button after Wobbuffet makes an unannounced appearance, causing the sub to race out to sea and into a strong underwater rip. While Ash, May, Brock, Brendan, Richie and Drew call their Pokémon back, the submarine takes everyone into the depths of the sea. A moment later, everyone is blown away on a misty island.
Jessie, James and Meowth are all together, but Wobbuffet is missing. Meowth and James imitate it, to get its attention, while Jessie claims their enemies messed up their plans once more. Elsewhere, May and Ash find themselves separated from Max, Brock, Brendan, Richie, and Drew, and May gets worried, but Ash comforts her, saying they’ll find the others in no time. An old man, Roderick, pilots a motorboat through the surrounding whirlpools to meet the two and explains that they are on Mirage Island. May and Ash immediately recognizes the name, as this was where they trained with Tate, Liza, and Juan to get the Red Orb and the Blue Orb out of their bodies a while back, and Ash explains that Rachel (Tate and Liza’s mother) told him about the rare Liechi Berries, perfect for making Pokéblocks, which can only be found here. May and Ash then introduce themselves. Roderick admits Mirage Island is a disorientating area, so he offers to help them find their friends. The three of them start heading to the nearest river on Mirage Island, knowing that Brock will instruct Brendan, Richie, Drew, and Max to do the same. Meanwhile, Brock sees that his compass is broken and Brandan's Flygon comes back, saying it did not see May or Ash. Brock thinks they should find a river and then go to the shore. Brendan sends Swampert and Brock his Mudkip, who begin to search for the river. Max begins to get worried for his big sister, and Pikachu begins to get worried for its friend, but Brendan asures Max and Pikachu that they’ll find May and Ash in no time. Meanwhile, May poses as a news reporter in her "expedition". Ash sometimes thinks that May can get a little too adventurous, but he doesn’t mind it. Roderick thinks they might need to go down the river and then to the shore, so they go towards that direction.
Team Rocket searches for Wobbuffet and hears something. Jessie and James go to get Wobbuffet, but Meowth knows it is a Wynaut. May, Ash, and Roderick made it to the river. Ash wonders how Roderick knows so much about the island. Roderick admits that about 40 years ago, when he was a Coordinator, he nearly drowned searching the Liechi Berries on the island. However, he was dragged on Mirage Island and remembers that something saved him and pulled him into a cave, where he found the Liechi Berries he sought out. After the story, Ash spots a bush full of berries and May follows him, but they fall from the edge to the river. Roderick sends Bellsprout and uses Vine Whip; May grabs the vine and holds Ash's hand, but she slips away and they both fall into the river. Roderick tells them a waterfall is not far and they both fall down. May catches Ash, who has passed out, but fears she doesn't have the strength to pull them both to the shore. She does however, hold Ash’s head above the water. Suddenly, May spots some things hopping on top of the trees. The Pokémon hold each other's hands and grab May's hand.
Brendan, Max, Brock, Pikachu, Richie and Drew continue to search for May and Ash, but are having no luck. Roderick comes to them, with news Ash and May fell down the waterfall. Max panics a little, but Richie and Brendan calm him down. Brock suspects they must've come down the river. The six of them begin to follow the river, hoping that Ash and May are both alright. Later that night, Roderick told Brendan, Brock, Pikachu, Max, Richie, and Drew that after finding the island, he learned how to navigate through the whirlpools. While he doesn't live in the city, Roderick admits he sometimes visits the island to keep an eye on the Wynaut. Max spots May and Ash's footprints, who must have gone into a cave with the Wynaut. Meanwhile, in a cave, Ash wakes up and finds himself resting against May’s Altaria’s fluffy cloud-like wings and May, happy that Ash is ok, shows the Pokémon who saved them: a bunch of Wynaut. One Wynaut gives them the berries they sought out as well. After they grab the berries, Ash and May rest against Altaria’s fluffy cloud-like wings to get comfortable. Ash tells May on how he loves how comfy and soft Altaria’s wings feel, and May smiles. Ash even thanks May for looking after him while he was knocked out, and May blushes as she thanks him. They eat the berries and comment how strong their taste is. The group of Wynaut have fun and May sends the rest of her Pokémon to join the fun. Though Ash politely refuses the offer, he allows his own Pokémon to join the fun and watches May and her Pokémon having fun.
Somewhere else on the island, Team Rocket have followed the cry of a Wynaut that they believe to be Wobbuffet. Unfortunately, Team Rocket did not find Wobbuffet. Wobbuffet suddenly appears, however, eating a handful of Liechi Berries. Team Rocket follows it so they can get some also. Upon finding the berries, Team Rocket goes to eat them and discovers the unappealing aftertaste. Since these berries cost a lot of money, Team Rocket decides to snatch all the berries with a large vacuum from a balloon shaped like a Wobbuffet. Ash and May hear the vacuum and run outside to see what is going on. Then, May and Ash spot Team Rocket stealing the berries. As they watch the Liechi Berries get pulled from everywhere around the cave into the balloon. By accident, May is sucked inside the vacuum that takes the berries as well, so Team Rocket decides to tie her up.
Ash calls on the assistance of all his Pokémon and May’s Pokémon, and the Wynaut also help battle Jessie's Seviper. Jessie sends Seviper and Seviper uses Poison Tail to negate Ice Beam that Ash’s Walrein used and attacks the latter, but Wynaut uses Counter to reflect the attack back on Seviper. May’s Altaira uses Dragon Breath, so Jessie prepares Wobbuffet to reflect the attack. Altaria's attack is deflected in a different direction, leading Team Rocket to believe the former missed. However, the attack was fired on the rope that ties up May. May is freed and Ash catches her in his arms, making Jessie enraged as Seviper uses Poison Tail, but it gets stopped by Sparky's Thunderbolt as he, Richie, Brock, Pikachu, Max, Brendan, Drew and Rockeric arrive. Jessie sends Dustox who uses Poison Sting. James sends Cacnea, but it clings to the former. Drew sends Masquerain, who uses Silver Wind, negating Dustox's Poison Sting. Cacnea uses Pin Missile, empowered by Meowth's gun, but the group of Wynaut makes a formation and use Safeguard, protecting the heroes. Both Pikachu and Sparky attack Team Rocket with Thunder, releasing the container with the berries. After a prolonged battle, Team Rocket are sent blasting off again with a combined Wirlwind attack from Ash’s Swellow and May's Beautifly.
As they fly, Team Rocket sees the sunrise and makes their wishes. Later, Roderick gives the heroes and Drew a boat to sail towards the next town. As they go, they see a picture of Wynaut and Roderick when he was younger, telling them the Wynaut made him kinder. May claims they did the same to her, but Drew claims he'll see that the next time he defeats her, which infuriates May. Roderick gives May the Liechi Berries, tempting her to get her final ribbon from the Pacifidlog Town's Contest. Ash is interested how fired up May is, so Brock knows she will win the Contest.
And that’s the new plot for the new version of “Who, What, When, Where, and Wynaut?” I hope you all enjoyed reading this, and stay tuned for more ideas and objectives that I have for rewriting and updating the advanced series. ^^

Give us the jessie bpd rant
JESSIE TEAMROCKET HAS BORDERLINE PERSONALITY DISORDER: A POST
[Paraphrased behaviours. I’m not a psychologist I just read the DSM-5 for fun. This is not a diagnostic tool, but if you identify with this post maybe look into some actual ones and learn some fun stuff about yourself.]
Identity problems, an unstable sense of self.
Jessie describes herself as adaptable, someone who can fit in anywhere, and this is indeed one of her strengths! She doesn’t let a lack of experience or qualifications discourage her because she believes that she can shift and change to suit her environment, and she’s right!
It’s also a major weakness of hers, though. Jessie in her element (when she’s her true self) is loud, confident, assertive, and bold. However, whenever she 'imprints’ on someone she throws her true personality aside entirely--buries it under the facade of someone who is malleable, softspoken, easy to be around, does whatever they can to make the person they love choose them. This trait of hers, and how it’s a fault, is a MAJOR plot point in XY063.
Tumblr media
there’s a scene early on in this episode where she’s partially paralyzed from a stun spore, and Dr. White, the man who saved her from drowning, feeds her a berry to fix it. She poses triumphantly with her arms in the air and shouts ‘THAT DID THE TRICK!’ then realizes she’s being too loud around an attractive man and immediately throws her hands over her mouth, trying to stop more words from coming. It’s an incredibly effective way of showing how contradictory Jessie is when she imprints on someone. The Jessie we know would never even think of second guessing how much room she takes up in the world.
In this episode, Jessie has feelings for Dr. White, and she completely buries her personality to make herself a silent, sweet, softspoken housewife in the hopes that he’ll fall in love with her. Dr. White instead falls for his childhood friend, a loud, rude, brash girl who likes to fight, calls him a wimp and tells him to fuck off when he presses her buttons.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
The tragedy of this episode is that Jessie is forced to confront this about herself--this way she shifts and changes to keep people near may very likely have caused her to lose something here. She’s forced to reckon with the idea that if she had just been herself, he might have loved her back. Not in spite of her personality, but because of it.
In Borderlines, this trait is often a survival mechanism, driven entirely BY:
A debilitating fear of potential abandonment, perceived or based in past trauma.
Jessie’s childhood trauma, though not often discussed, hinges entirely on her abandonment issues. She was given up to foster care around kindergarten age, which was long enough to learn to love her mother before never getting to see her again. Jessie’s implied to have been a deeply lonely child who never had a family to call her own, and who didn’t fit in with any other girls her age because she was too poor to afford even basic food and couldn’t keep up.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When Jessie opens up about her love life, she doesn’t go into specifics, only mentioning that it’s been full of nothing but heartbreak thus far. She’s an unreliable narrator, always, but when she’s inviting pity on herself it’s almost always manipulation to gain something, and these moments don’t seem to have that element. When she talks about her love life in EP100, it’s very carefully accented with this image:
Tumblr media
In her adolescence, Jessie tried to center herself around her passions, pursuing them whenever she was handed the opportunity. Frequently, though, she’d find herself meeting people and growing attached to them, and would eventually reach a crossroads where she forced herself to choose between the people she cared about and the goals she chased relentlessly.
The biggest example of this is DP073, where she chooses to stay and train to be an idol, rather than to travel with the boy she’s in love with.
Tumblr media
She ends up not passing her audition, losing both him and her shot at her career. This starts Jessie’s descent into compulsively abandoning/parting ways with everyone in her life in an attempt to control how people exit her story. The only way to prevent yourself from being abandoned with 100% certainty is, of course, to leave them before they can leave you.
This kinda blends into the next point, which is:
Instability in personal relationships.
As previously mentioned, Jessie has a tendency to leave people behind & sever ties. It’s only speculation on my part, but it would make sense that she does this because she has been left behind in so many regards and by so many people she loved, it’s the only way she feels she can take control of this phenomenon.
People who watched a lot of OS back in the day, but don’t necessarily keep up with the series much now, will famously circulate Jessie’s speech to the Ghost of Maiden Rock in EP020. The maiden was a woman who died waiting for her lover who was out at sea, and since her death her spirit’s remained on the cliffside in the hopes that he would come home. Jessie shoots the ghost of the maiden with a fucking bazooka half her height and says this:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is lauded by 90s kids everywhere as a #GirlPower speech about how Jessie don’t need no man (which is true), but it’s actually, like... kinda tragic? She hates the ghost of the maiden because she sees herself in it, and she takes the opportunity to proclaim that what she sees of herself makes her sick to look at. This speech she gives is so aggressively out of nowhere and so long and rambling that you have no choice but to read it as deeply personal. She just short of confirms that you can’t leave Jessie because Jessie leaves FIRST.
And you GET to see this in action. Jessie struggles so hard with loyalty. In ALL her relationships! Literally all of them. Every time something shakes up her foundation with a person in her life, she hardlocks herself into run run RUN mode because there’s a slight chance they might leave her and she CANNOT have that.
It was shown in the most explicit detail in the side story about what she was like in training, where Jessie’s inability to stay beside various partners in Team Rocket is literally the trait that defined her to everyone in the organization.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s even a beautifully symbolic shot in the beginning of that episode where she abandons her 12th partner, and kneels down while the world literally collapses behind her.
Tumblr media
In DP073, when Jessie sees her Dustox has fallen in love with another Dustox, she demands that Dustox leave despite the pokemon hesitating. She doesn’t let Dustox control that scenario--Jessie crushes her pokeball and demands she migrate with her mate.
Tumblr media
When Meowth dips on her and James to work food service because he finds it more rewarding, Jessie doesn’t try to fight it, instead focuses her energy on also leaving her teammates in her dust because at least she can get out of there and move on before James abandons her.
Tumblr media
When she realizes White loves another girl, she doesn’t bother to even say goodbye to him, she just leaves wordlessly with nothing in her wake but a bouquet of daisies, and when she remembers that oh right, her wobbuffet is also in love with White’s own--
Tumblr media
She tries to leave him, too.
You can’t fire Jessie. Jessie quits.
This is the in-depth, analytical part of me Diagnosing Her. Everything else she exhibits is far more General and really doesn’t need a trained eye:
Instability in one’s goals, aspirations, or career: Jessie has a steady job in Team Rocket, but is constantly picking up side-hustles and being distracted by passions like acting, performing, contests, and the like. She’s left Team Rocket entirely before to pursue Contests, only to return almost immediately. (DP117)
Difficulty controlling the range/intensity of one’s emotional responses: Long past the Slapstick Days of the original series, Jessie’s still incredibly prone to outbursts. It’s not just anger--she reacts equally strongly when she’s sad, happy, lovestruck, anything. I have used this exact phrasing before, but Jessie doesn’t feel her emotions, she becomes them.
Poor impulse control: Kind goes hand-in-hand with the above.
Engaging in dangerous/risky/self-harming activities with no concern to personal limitations: This applies to all of Team Rocket, but Jessie seems to take it a step further in thinking she’s invincible. She’ll throw herself headfirst into anything, rarely backs down from a fight, and often has trouble taking rest days even when she needs them because she lacks self-preservation.
Hair-trigger temper: lol yeah.
Unstable emotions/mood swings: lol YEAH, Jessie will be crying one minute, screaming the next, immediately fine. She can cycle the whole spectrum of human emotion before you can finish a sentence.
Idealization & Imprinting: Jessie frequently rushes into relationships based entirely on the idea of a person, not grounded in reality. She becomes attached to people incredibly easy at times, willing to throw her entire life thus far away to run away with someone she’s just met.
Living entirely in the moment, unable to comprehend the past/future: Jessie prefers to go with the flow and, as previously mentioned, adapt if things don’t turn out in her favour. If something doesn’t work out for her, she immediately will turn in the other direction and start toward whatever’s there.
This post is so long and I could probably make it longer but I’m gonna stop here. My credentials are I’m an Incredibly Powerful Jessie Kinnie who has BPD herself as well as an autistic who’s special interest is the pokemon anime and team rocket specifically fdhdfghg.
IN CONCLUSION,

more james hcs guys i know everyone loves me and my headcanons cuz im awesome and amazing
idk if i said this last time but he does have OCD. everywhere he goes he brings a mini hand sanitizer container. one big issue he has is that if they don't get to finish their motto, it eats at him the rest of the day.
he has a poison blood type (something i might have to expand on in a different post one day), which means he has a godly immune system and a naturally high immunity to poisons, even those that are fatal to the average person.
his parents are georgio and eliza morgante. yes i know its a play on the name morgan to make it italian and its funny for that. anyways jojo fans if youre reading this i named him giorgio as a joke too. moving on, they own a tech company called morgantech cuz im good at naming and theyre rich for it. nobody knows james is the son of elon musk and grimes cuz they thought he was a failure of a son so they never made him public.
some of his stims include hand flapping, rocking, whistling, humming, singing, leg bouncing, and sucking on candy, which he somehow has handfulls of at all times
they also listen to music a lot. they like upbeat songs, pop, and stupid love songs. whatever the pokemon equivalent of glass animals is, well thats their favorite artists all time. they HATE classical music and certain classical songs are a goddamn trigger cuz his stupid bitch parents and their rich old southern aesthetic
on the music thing, they always have headphones with them cuz otherwise theyd deal with a shit ton of sensory overload
him and meowth are besties that talk about their feelings with eachother at 3am while jessie and wobbuffet snore obnoxiously loud in the other room
theyre booksmart yeah but if it has anything to do with math theyve already accepted defeat
ok actually in the last post i said they ran away at 15 but i changed it to 17 cuz the gap between then and joining team rocket was way too big and annoying to put together
they sleep in a LOT
they like writing. not books or anything but more like poems, which isnt much of a hc cuz he said so in that one oak episode. they also have a little diary like a stupid nerd.
loves sweet tea
one of their hyperfixations is old cartoons they were never allowed to watch as a kid, and they sit down and watch it with everyone and is the happiest loser alive
maybe ill do a quick indigo hearts bit too cuz i oughta do that sometime i guess
in my au that takes place a while after journeys, theyre 37. they live in da treehouse with jessie, jaime, meowth, wobbuffet, and all the other pokemon including bewear. irrelevant to anything but they've won alola's first coordinator contest thing. their pokemon team for the events in kanto is growlie (now an arcanine), hidoide, mime jr, and carnivine, though growlie is less so on the team and more like a ride pokemon that stays out of its pokeball. basically hes gay married with jessie and theyre all on a vacation in kanto with the twerps for ash's retry at the indigo league. hes like family to them anyways, all the twerps are. their friendship with brock is especially strong for many reasons, one of them being that brock also lives in alola and works at the pokemon center, and because of his close distance him and james often have lunch together and talk about nice things.
i do have more feel free to ask me cuz im always willing to go off due to being mentally deranged. thanks for watching and be sure to click that subscribe button cuz only 10% of people who watch my videos are subscribed. your mom your mom your mom and did i mention your mom

Dawn of the Dark Chapter 26
This chapter can be found here on AO3.
Author’s Notes: Forgive me, but when I was synopsizing this chapter, it ended up being very long. So, the fic will now have 29 chapters, with the final battle being split between two chapters. I’m not 100% sure as of now when the fic will be finished. I’m still aiming to have it finished by the end of the week.
Also, trigger warning for minor blood in the latter part of this chapter.
________
Chapter 26 – The Apex of the World
Sunrise lasted for a mere thirty seconds before the sky over Vermilion City became awash in red and purple. Reports about rampaging Dynamax Pokemon abounded throughout the regions, even in humble towns like Vaniville Town and Nuvema Town. Ordinary people and Pokemon dared not to walk outside, not even for food, instead relying on what rations they already had. By this point, even a small child knew better than to go near wide, open areas. To see a wild Pokemon that hadn’t been affected by Team Rocket’s evil experiments was exceedingly rare.
And that’s when Goh knew: the time for Rose’s challenge had arrived. Donning his lab coat and ordinary T-shirt and shorts, he walked up to Ash with confidence. “Are you ready?”
“Ready, Freddie.” Ash flashed a toothy grin, not letting the gravity of the upcoming battle get to him.
Goh closed his eyes, trying to calm his heart, and transformed. “Mew, mew mew.”
“What was the point of you getting dressed if you’re going to be in Pokemon form the whole time?” Goh’s scowl answered Ash’s question. “Ohhh. If you happen to turn back into a human… Yeah, I don’t want anyone other than me ogling my naked fiancé.”
Gary, with Chloe and Dawn by him, unexpectedly greeted Ash when they left Goh’s room at the Pokemon Center. “I certainly agree. Goh is as cute as a button, but I am man enough to respect it when someone is taken.”
“Gary, what in the name of Arceus are you doing here?” Ash ruffled his own hair. “Rose only asked for Goh, Zacian, Zamazenta, and I.”
“Yeah, screw him.” Gary laughed. “And screw his stupid rules.”
“Yeah!” Chloe held up her fists. “I’m not going to let him and Giovanni just do whatever they want to the world!”
“Sylvie, Sylveon!” Sylveon wrapped a ribbon around Ash, showing her support for him.
A set of footsteps could be heard charging down up the steps and through the corridor. “Wait a second!”
“It’s…!” Ash’s eyes opened wide when Georgio and Delia arrived at the scene. “Mom!”
“Phew!” Delia tried to catch her breath. “We made it just in time!”
Before Ash could even say anything, Georgio spoke up. “You can’t stop us, Ash. If the evil chairman of Macro Cosmos is going to challenge my son, he challenges me too. We’ve got a lot of catching up to do after this war is over!”
“Georgio… No, Dad…” Ash fist bumped his father. “Thanks, man.”
“Hey!” Another shout could be heard from downstairs. “Don’t forget about us!”
“Now who could that be?” Ash gaped when Jessie, James, Damian, Meowth, and Wobbuffet showed up too. “Even you guys?”
“We’ve got some making up to do for all we’ve put you through!” Jessie exclaimed.
“I get to be there when you defeat that meanie Rose!” Damian didn’t care that an apocalyptic battle was about to commence. “So exciting!”
“But is it really okay?” Chloe asked. “Most of Vermilion City is under quarantine.”
Dr. Bick happened to be passing by at that moment. “As a matter of fact, it is. I spoke with Officer Jenny and she has allowed it. Naturally, I’ll be coming with all of your personal effects, Goh, in the event you give birth in Hammerlocke.”
“Mew!” Goh smiled in gratitude.
“Speaking of Officer Jenny, she has allowed us the use of one of her private planes, which is awaiting us at Vermilion Airport.” Dr. Bick beckoned for everyone to follow him to one of Officer Jenny’s police SUVs.
“Thank you for going through all this trouble for us,” Ash thanked after the SUV began its journey.
“I should be the one thanking you, Champion Ash,” Officer Jenny replied. “The future of Galar – no, the future of the world lies in your hands.”
“That reminds me of that one time you visited the island of Shamouti in the Orange Archipelago!” Delia reminisced. “The people there believe you are the Chosen One.”
“We were heroes on that day, weren’t we?” Jessie grinned at her husband.
“We sure were, Jess.”
“I have heard of that island’s legends as well,” Gary remarked. “Well, let’s just hope Ashy Boy here can live up to that name.”
“You don’t have to worry about that.” Ash smirked.
“Actually, I would.”
Before Ash could ask Gary to elaborate on that, the SUV had already arrived at the airport. Naturally, there was not a soul there, except for politicians and Gym Leaders on official business – and even then, they were heavily guarded by the police. Officer Jenny led the group to a group of other Officer Jennys, plus some Arcanine. “We will escort you to our private jet. This way.”
“This is some serious business…” James was surprised that Officer Jenny didn’t seem to care that he was there.
“Hmm?” It was only when James spoke up that Officer Jenny noticed him. “You two are former members of Team Rocket. I’d recognize that hair from anywhere, and so can my fellow officers.”
“Yikes!” Jessie held up her hands in surrender. “Busted…”
“No, you’re not.”
“You mean you’re not going to arrest us?”
“I think that after revealing to Professor Cerise what you know about the Shadow Pokemon Project, you’ve repaid your debts to society. Plus, you never really were much of a threat to begin with.”
“Uh… Thanks?” Jessie felt like she was just complimented backhandedly.
Ash waited until after the plane took off and reached a smooth altitude to speak his piece. “So, Gary. About what you said back in the patrol car. Why would you have to worry about me?”
“From what you’ve told me about Rose’s challenge, he now has the ability to fully shift into Eternatus. You, on the other hand…” Gary looked at Ash suspiciously. “You can’t even half-shift, can you?”
“I can’t, but… I mean, there was that one time Rose forced me to fight his Copperajah, and I almost shifted.”
“Arceus, Ash.” Gary facepalmed. “So you don’t even have a plan for this challenge with the entire world at stake?”
“Mew!” Goh used Doubleslap on Gary’s face.
“Ow! You little…” Gary rubbed his cheeks.
“I’m going to take on Rose the only way I know how – with my Pokemon friends by my side. Even if the odds are against me, I owe it to the people of Galar – and the entire world – to protect them.”
“Pika! Pikachu!” Pikachu mirrored Ash’s bravado.
“I’ll give you credit for one thing, Ashy Boy.” Gary ruffled Ash’s hair. “Your selflessness has been your most redeeming feature.”
Chloe would interrupt this male bonding. “Guys, if I didn’t know any better, I would say that that ominous building is the Hammerlocke Energy Plant.”
“You would be correct,” Ash responded. “Seems like the bastard knows we’re here, too. And look down below… There’s no light at all in Hammerlocke, except at the Tower Summit.”
You’re never going to win…
Goh could hear Rose’s voice in his head, figuring he was using telepathy. Shut up!
What’s the matter? You know you have two options: either risk giving birth in the middle of the battlefield, or sit back and watch while the Darkest Day happen again!
Luckily for Ash, he could hear Rose’s telepathic messages too. Stop filling my fiancé’s head with shit, Rose!
Chloe, along with everyone else, had no clue what was going on. “Ash, what’s wrong? Are you okay?”
“Huh?” Ash’s face relaxed. “Did you need me for something?”
“Just wanted to let you know that we’re just arrived at Hammerlocke Airport. We just parked, so we really need to get going.”
“Right.” Ash noticed that Dr. Bick was the first to disembark. “Dr. Bick, where are you going?”
“I’ve rented hotel rooms for all of us. Give me a call when you’re done; I’m going right now to bring our luggage to the hotel.”
“Mew mew!” Goh was grateful that his obstetrician went above and beyond for him.
“It’s my duty as your doctor, Goh. Godspeed to you.” And with that, Dr. Bick walked towards baggage claim, accompanied by a group of Officer Jennys.
Not long after Ash et. al. entered the terminal proper, Raihan, Paul, and Lily met them there. “Yo.” Raihan waved.
“Champion Ash!” Lily ran up to the group.
As soon as Damian noticed Lily, he ran up to her and gave her a hug. “Lily! I’m so happy to see you!”
“Damian, why did you come here?” Lily gladly accepted the hug. “Do you have any idea how dangerous this is, especially for a little kid like you?”
“I know I’m a kid, but I am going to protect you!” Damian held an enthusiastic Morpeko in the air. “I’ll be your knight in shining armour!”
“Aww, that’s mighty sweet of you.” Lily petted Morpeko.
Raihan decided to refocus on the matter at hand. “So, we’re going to be walking every step of the way. No Officer Jennys are going to accompany us this time, so all we’ve got to depend on now is our collective strength as a team. Everyone ready to head to our final battle?”
“Yeah!” Everyone in the group cheered in unison.
“‘Our final battle,’ huh…” Ash pondered those words again. “It’s been a really long war, hasn’t it?”
“Yes, it has truly been a long war,” replied Raihan. “And we have only made it this far because of you, Ash… Our Champion. We must strike down Rose and end this war!”
“Let’s win this and go back home in victory!” Chloe wanted to boost her friends’ morale. “I’ll do the very best I can, for my students! For everyone!”
Lily felt inspired by Chloe’s words. “All will be okay! I know we can win!”
“I know it too!” Damian concurred.
“I know a thing or two about trying to save the world,” Jessie began. “It’s a shame that we have to face our former employer, but that’s how the cookie crumbles.”
“It’s a shame, indeed,” James lamented. “But if we have to face Giovanni himself, so be it.”
“Now’s the time for me to finally get my revenge on Persian!” Meowth revealed his claws. “He’s gonna pay for making a fool out of me.”
“Mimey, I hope you’re up for saving the world!” Delia looked to her only Pokemon. “I sure am!”
“Mime! Mr. Mime!”
“Fine, twist my arm.” Paul sighed. “These guys had better be worthy opponents.”
“Just so you know, Sparkle and I don’t plan for you to show us up just because you’re my son!” Georgio spoke up. “I plan to do my fair share of saving the world!”
“I’m not going to let Ashy Boy show me up, either.” Gary smirked. “I may not be a shifter, but I’ve got more fight in my right pinky than Ashy Boy does in his entire body.”
“You son of a…” Part of Ash wanted to chew Gary out, but he knew that that was just Gary’s way of boosting morale. “Everyone… It is time! Onward, to our final battle!”
Indeed, Ash and his friends faced fierce opposition the second they exited Hammerlocke Airport. Swarms of Galarian Linoone and Obstagoon assaulted them at the airport’s main entrance. “Obstaaaagoooon!” An especially fierce Obstagoon lunged at Ash with Foul Play.
“Raaah!” Ash pushed this Obstagoon aside with an arm engulfed in fire, after which point, he sent out the rest of his Pokemon. “It’s time, guys! Show these Shadow Pokemon what you’re made of!”
“Mew!” From Ash’s backpack, Goh tapped the Poke Balls of his Rillaboom, Cinderace, Inteleon, Scizor, Dewgong, and Raichu to release them.
“Dark Pokemon are no match for us!” Lily and Chloe stepped forward, proud to show off the prowess of their Fairy-type Pokemon.
“But what about them?” Damian pointed to a group of various Poison-type Pokemon, including Weezing, Salazzle, and Vileplume.
“Meeeeeeew!” Goh formed a barrier between the Poison-types and his friends.
“This is going to be about more than just type match-ups, you know,” Paul remarked. “I’m sure Rose has pulled out all the stops for his esteemed guests.”
“I’m sure he has- Sylveon, watch out!” Chloe pushed her Sylveon out of the way of a Venoshock attack just in time, but not without sustaining poison damage herself. “Ow! Cough… Cough…”
“Ms. Cerise!” Damian cried, giving his teacher a hug while Morpeko protected them. “No!”
“Mew?” Goh floated next to Chloe.
“Goh, you mustn’t. Please, save your strength… COUGH!... for… for when it matters the most… Cough…”
“Mew…” Goh closed his eyes, and a bell of light rang above his head, instantly curing Chloe of her poison.
“Heal Bell…” Chloe recognized the move as she got on her feet again.
“Mew mew!” Goh was glad to see his best friend healthy again.
“I think he’s trying to say that this is when it matters the most,” Ash observed.
“Thanks, Goh! I’m not gonna let your efforts go to waste!” Chloe charged ahead as she and Raihan carved a path.
Paul, Jessie, and James watched the rear of the group, making sure to keep the Poison-type Pokemon away from Lily and Chloe. “There’s too damned many of them!” Paul cursed. “We can’t all go up there! Some of us are going to have to stay on ground level to make sure that no Shadow or Dynamax Pokemon interfere with what’s up there!”
“We volunteer!” Jessie and James stood back-to-back.
“I believe in you, sweetie.” Delia wished Ash good luck. “Mimey and I will be rooting for you from down here!”
“So will I,” Georgio added.
“I have to go up there.” Raihan looked up at the Tower Summit. “Leon… My husband is up there right now at the apex of the world.”
“It’s gonna hurt, but I wanna see Papa too.”
“Th-Then I’m coming too!”
“No, Damian. It’s not fair that you get to do all the protecting. Aren’t you going to let me protect you too?” Lily knelt, offering a hug to Damian.
Damian felt upset for a spell before a smile plastered his face. “I believe in you, Lily! Good luck!” He gleefully accepted the hug, stealing a kiss on the cheek from Lily in the process. “That’s your good luck kiss! Please come back safe, or I’m gonna be really, really sad.”
“Don’t worry, Damian. I swear I’m going to come back to celebrate with yummy Alcremie cream cakes!” And with that, Lily followed Ash, Goh, and Raihan up the Energy Plant’s stairwells.
Meanwhile, at the Tower Summit, Rose could hear the footsteps of the challengers he felt confident he could defeat. “They are here… But my progress cannot be stopped, no matter how many people try.”
Ash barely paused for a breath when, at last, he reached the Tower Summit, with Goh’s Eternatus as a backdrop. “Hah… Rose…”
“It’s over, you fuckwad!” Raihan bared his fangs. “Get ready to suffer the wrath of the great Raihan!”
“So you’ve come, Gym Leader of Hammerlocke.” Surprisingly, Rose was completely in human form – at least for the time being. “This war’s end will spell destruction for one of us. And, of course, I’m adding your lovely husband to the mix.”
“Where is he?” Raihan demanded. “Answer me, now!”
“Here, have a look!” Giovanni stepped forward, releasing Shadow Lugia from his Dark Ball. “Isn’t he magnificent?”
“No…” Lily fell to the floor, crying. “Papa!”
“Lily…” Raihan knew that the time to be tactful was over. “Papa… He’s gone.”
“That’s right, little girl.” Giovanni chuckled as he juggled another empty Dark Ball with his right hand. “As far as I’m concerned, the Papa you used to know is dead!”
“No, no, no!” Lily shook her head. “It can’t be true!”
“And if you thought that that was bad, wait until you see what I’m capable of…” Rose closed his eyes as a red and purple shadows danced about him.
“Oh, shit…” Raihan soon realized that Rose was about to transform. “Lily, get out of the way!”
Knowing that, in fact, Lily wasn’t going to get out of the way, Ash stepped in front of her protectively, sending out both Zacian and Zamazenta. “You will not touch her!”
Giovanni didn’t like how uncomfortably close Rose got to the Dark Ball. “What are you doing?”
“Using your technology, what does it look like?” Rose spoke as he snatched the Dark Ball from Giovanni’s hand.
“But… But I thought we were allies!”
“Fool! Didn’t you learn anything from the Mewtwo incident?” Right before his transformation fully commenced, Rose threw the Dark Ball very high into the air.
“You son of a bitch, Rose!” Giovanni growled.
“Complain all you like, it’s not going to help!” So were Rose’s last words before he transformed, went into the Dark Ball, and broke free right afterwards.
“He’s gone absolutely mad!” Raihan couldn’t believe it. “Using the Dark Ball on himself, knowing full well that he can never be human again?”
“Haha…” In Pokemon form, Rose outstripped even Goh’s Eternatus in both size and power. He could even telepathize with the horrified onlookers below. “Hahahaha! How are you going to handle three legendary, Shadow, and Dynamax Pokemon at once?”
“I’m going to handle this like I do with any challenge,” Raihan declared, looking into Shadow Lugia’s face without fear. “Leon, my love… Do not suffer any longer. Let all of our pain end here. I will allow your great and weary soul the rest it deserves!”
“Daddy?” Lily watched in wonder as Galar particles gathered around Raihan. “What’s going on?”
“Hah!” Ash grinned as Raihan grew exponentially taller. “Well, what do you know? Raihan’s a shifter too! I had a feeling all along! Now, let’s see what kind of Pokemon he is!”
When the Galar particles cleared, they revealed a Gigantamax Duraludon. “Duraludon!” Raihan stomped, letting Leon know that he was ready to do battle.
“Hmph.” Giovanni scowled. “So you have another shifter in your midst. It’s not going to matter worth a damn! Lugia, use Aeroblast!”
“Ludon!” Raihan stood firm with Iron Defense.
“Ohoho, I don’t think so.” Lily sent out her Florges and locked eyes with Giovanni. “Your opponent is me, pal. You’re gonna pay for what you did to Papa, and you’re going to pay HARD!”
“Very well, little girl.” Giovanni started with his Persian. “This should be interesting.”
“They’re good…” Rose clearly didn’t like this abrupt turn of events, and instead focused on Ash and Goh. “Don’t think I’ve forgotten about you two.”
“Oh, believe me, I haven’t.” When Rose wasn’t looking, Ash had Gigantamaxed his Pikachu, having exhausted all his other Pokemon in the battles below. “Bring it, buster. Pikachu, use G-Max Volt Crash!”
“Piiiiika!” Pikachu jumped high, and when he landed on the ground, he brought down several lightning bolts with him.
“I’ll gladly ‘bring it,’ as you say!” Rose cackled, feeling a slight sting from the G-Max Volt Crash, but charging at Pikachu with Dragon Tail nonetheless.
“Pi… ka…” Pikachu felt immense pain from that one hit alone.
“How does it feel to be hit by a literal god?” Rose launched a Poison Tail this time.
“Pikachu, protect yourself with Max Guard!” Ash snarled, “You think you’re a god? All of this power really has gone to your head, hasn’t it?”
“Mew…” Even when he was Dynamaxed, Mew was miniscule compared to Rose’s Eternamax form, and his Max Mindstorm had little effect.
“Bahaha! You’re little more than a house cat, that’s what you are!”
It was then that Goh got so annoyed that he started using telepathy too. “If you think you’re a god, then we’ll be the ‘Twilight of the Gods,’ just like from ancient Norse legends. You’re a god we will destroy for the good of humanity.”
Those words fueled both Rose’s anger and power. “You… You will not destroy me! Never!”
“What’s going on?” Even from ground level, Chloe could see the turbulent battle occurring at the Tower Summit, from which spewed copious numbers of Wishing Stars.
“Eeek!” Jessie jumped into James’ arms.
“Jess… I don’t know why, but I feel a sudden need to go to the Tower Summit.”
“I feel the same way too, James… And I’m with you all the way.”
“Don’t forget about me! I’m tired of staying down here, wondering if Lily is going to be okay! I’m going!” With that, Damian started charging up the stairwells of the Energy Plant, and Jessie and James soon followed.
Rose went on such a rampage that the Wishing Stars turned into a super-charged version of Draco Meteor, and Pikachu fell to it, fainting when he reverted to normal size. “Pika piiikaaaa!”
“Pikachu!” Ash barely caught Pikachu in time from crashing to the ground.
“Hahahaha!” Rose didn’t let up from his power trip.
Oh? Ash noticed that Goh’s Eternatus hovered weakly in midair, thanks to Zacian and Zamazenta. Since Rose and Giovanni are distracted, I know what I can do!
Giovanni was at a stalemate with Lily; now, his Rhydon faced Lily’s Matcha Cream Alcremie. “You’re not too shabby, little girl… It’s a shame that Raihan is your father, because you would have made a great executive for Team Rocket.”
“Like hell I’m gonna-” Lily just noticed Ash sneaking behind Giovanni and taking Goh’s Eternatus’ Poke Ball.
“Ah!” Giovanni couldn’t stop Ash from returning Goh’s Eternatus. “You cur!”
Right after he returned Goh’s Eternatus, Ash noticed that Zacian and Zamazenta couldn’t continue fighting, and returned them as well. “Good job… Zacian, Zamazenta. You take a good long rest.”
Without Eternatus under his control anymore, Giovanni began to lose control of himself. He didn’t even care that a Draco Meteor was about to hit him. “It’s… It’s all over…”
“No it’s not! Morpeko, use Aura Wheel!”
“Pekopekopekopeko!” Morpeko rammed into the meteors so hard that they all broke before they could reach Giovanni.
“It’s…!” Giovanni looked to see that Jessie, James, and Damian had all arrived at the scene. “Why would you save me?”
“Listen, man.” James looked Giovanni dead in the eye. “You may have seen us as dirt beneath your boots, but you offered us a job when we needed it the most, and on top of that, you educated our son.”
“But don’t get us wrong,” Jessie intervened. “After this is over, you’re going to the big house – you and the lot of Team Rocket.”
Giovanni, in a rare moment of gratitude, ordered Rhydon, “Rhydon, use Stone Edge on Rose!”
“Hmm?” Rose wasn’t surprised nor impressed with Giovanni’s “betrayal,” but decided to entertain him anyway.
Raihan was thankful that now, nothing stood between him and Lugia. Yet it made him more anxious about the inevitable. “It’s just you and me, Leon,” he spoke through telepathy. “Just like old times, when Lily was still a twinkle in your eye.”
“Now’s not the time to reminisce, fool!” Leon drew in close, trying for a Wing Attack and barely missing.
Raihan was so far gone into his nostalgia that he began to forget that Leon was in Shadow Pokemon form. “Leon, don’t do this!”
“Raihan… please… Listen, Raihan… You have to stop me before I kill you… You know what you have to do.”
“You can’t be-” Raihan halted Leon’s next attack with Iron Defense. “You can’t be serious!”
“Ah!” Leon winced when he deadlocked with Raihan using Giga Impact. “Do it now… Kill me!”
“Are you crazy? You know I can’t do that!”
“You’re having cold feet now? Please… End my suffering… It hurts!”
“Daddy…?” Without the threat of Giovanni, Lily could now focus on the battle between her parents. “Papa!”
“Dear Arceus… Please forgive me!” Raihan teared up before charging up a Dragon Claw, ramming his claw into Leon’s chest with everything he had.
“Ah… Thank… you… Raihan…” A few drops of blood spilled from Leon’s chest before he reverted to human form at last.
“Leon!” Raihan reverted too, paying no heed whatsoever to the battle going on with Rose. He began to panic when he felt the warmth quickly fading from Leon’s face.
“Raihan… My love, don’t be sad.” Leon tried to reach a hand to Raihan’s face, but was too weak to do so. “You get to see me completely… free of… Team Rocket’s influence one last time.”
“Arceus, no… Don’t leave me, Leon… You can’t!” Raihan took a long pause when he noticed that Leon had stopped breathing. “Leon? Leon, say something, please! LEOOOOON!”
“No!” Lily ran up to Leon’s lifeless body. “Papa!”
“Lily, my princess, I’m so sorry.”
“It’s not your fault, Daddy!” Lily cried into Raihan’s chest.
“Oh my Arceus…” Ash couldn’t look away from this emotional scene. “So the only way a Pokemon influenced by a Dark Ball can break free is to die.”
“Ash?” Goh quickly grew worried when Ash couldn’t see Rose coming at him with a Cross Poison. He flew there as fast as he could, praying to Arceus that he could make it in time. “Ash, look out!”
Ash wiped his tears in time to see Rose charging at him. “Huh?”
“You’re mine, you nuisance! Take this!” Rose unleashed his Cross Poison, slightly disappointed when he found out that he didn’t hit his intended target. “Well, well… What’s the meaning of this?”
“Ngh…” Ash let down his guard, only to see that in his stead, Goh had taken the full brunt of the hit for him. He caught him when he reverted to human form. “Goh! Oh my gods, what have you done?”
“What’s it look like, genius?” A single drop of blood trickled down Goh’s mouth while he spoke. “You weren’t… paying attention… What was I supposed to do?”
“You fucking moron, Goh!” Ash ran his hand through Goh’s hair. “The babies can live without me… But I… I can’t live without you! Please… don’t die, babe…”
“If it’s for you, then… it’s worth it… Ash…” Goh’s voice grew almost too faint for Ash to hear.
“What is it?”
“Thank you… for meeting and falling in love with me… Our fateful meeting on that Lugia… I wouldn’t have traded it for anything in the world.” So was the last thing Goh said before his hand fell to the floor, and he drew his last breath.
“Goh?” Ash held Goh’s icy hand tightly, hoping desperately to restore warmth into it. “Aaaaaaaah! Fuck, fuck, fuck it! No!”
Though he was not physically present, Gary could sense something terribly wrong. “Goh, he’s… Guys, both he and Leon are… dead…”
“No!” Chloe wailed. “No, I refuse to believe it!”
“Dammit, Goh! We were supposed to get married and have a life together! What about our babies?” Ash pounded his fists on the ground, then scooped up Goh’s body, hugging him tightly. As soon as he did this, he felt the twins kick simultaneously, as if trying to bring Goh back to life. “I’m not going to just lay down and take it. Ashalina and Gavin haven’t given up on you, Goh… I won’t either.”
And with that, Ash felt a powerful light well up from his heart, manifesting in a bright golden aura.

Some pokemon Sword and Shield tips to help complete the pokedex:
Hiya, so I have been playing my pokemon shield version and working my way through the pokedex and I decided to try and help out a bit with things bc lord knows I got stuck and confused a LOT!
1) Version Exclusives:
Sword: Farfetch’d line, Seedot line, Mawile, Solrock, Darumaka line, Scraggy line, Gothita line, Rufflet line, Deino line, Swirlix, Passimian, Turtonator, Jangmo-o line, Flapple, Stonjourner, Zacian
Shield: Ponyta line, Corsola line, Larvitar line, Lotad line, Sableye, Lunatone, Croagunk line, Solosis line, Vullaby line, Spritzee, Goomy line, Oranguru, Drampa, Appletun, Eiscue, Zamazenta
2) Trades!
There are three trades you should definitely do:
-There is a kid in the Turffield gym that will give you a regular meowth for a glarian one. This is one of the only ways to get persian for your pokedex. You can also breed the mystery gift meowth and try that way.
-In the Ballonlea gym, there is a kid that will trade you a regular Yamask for a galarian one. This is the ONLY way to get regular Cofagrigus.
-In Circhester, the dude at the right stand will give you a sawk or throh(whichever isn’t native to your game) for a Vanillish.
***also!!!! go to the battle tower after completing the game fully and pick up the type:null on the left.***
3)How to get freaking Runerigus(glarian Cofagrigus) bc lord knows they don’t tell you anything lol,,,
-Catch a galarian yamask, slap a focus sash on it(you can get one by battling the dude in the house left of the first pokemon center in Hammerlock), buy a pokedoll if your other pokemon can’t handle fighting one of the strong pokemon in the wild area, have your yamask get down to 1 HP, and head to the big rock structure in the dusty bowl.
4)Incense.
There are some pre-evolutions that you need to get by slapping an incense on a pokemon:
-Snorlax+Full incense->Munchlax
-Sudowoodo+Rock incense->Bonsly
-Mr. Mime + Odd incense-> Mime Jr
Wobbuffet + Lax incense ->Wynaut
You can buy them from the incense merchant in Hulbury.
5) Fossils:
In order to get all the fossil pokemonin these games, you need to get 2 of each fossil (2 dino, 2 drake, 2 bird, 2 fish). The easiest way to do this is to go to the digging duo near the pokemon nursery in bridge field in the wild area and talk to the ‘skill brother’ on the left. Each dig costs 500 watts, but this is the easiest way to get all the fossils.
Head on over to the fossil restoration person on route 6 and here are the combos:
-Bird+Drake->Dracozolt
-Bird+Dino->Arctozolt
-Fish+Drake->Dracovish
-Fish+Dino-Arctovish
****ALSO HEADS UP!! YOU CANNOT BREED ANY OF THE FOSSIL POKEMON****
6) Some items to pick up:
-sooth bell: given to you by the lady in the house to the right of the pokemon center in Hammerlock
-sweet(shield)/tart(sword) apples: head to the far left of Hammerlock(near the little garden in front of the vault) and talk to the guy there. He will ask for an applin(he gives it back), go through the cutscene, and get your apple. This is how you get Flapple(sword) and Appletun(shield)
-whipped dream and sweet items:
you can get these by fighting in the battle cafes daily. The whipped dream is used to evolve swirlix when traded, and you put one of the sweet items onto a milcery, do a long spin and it will evolve into alcremie.
-cracked pot(used to evolve sinistea): is found in Stow-on-Side, head toward the stairs leading to the gym, go up the ladder on the right and it is in a pokeball.
-the protector(used to evolve rydon into rhyperior when traded) go up onto route 9 from spikemuth, and head right onto the water(not all the way right) and up to the small island with the sign. It is in a pokeball.
-Sachet(used to evolve spritzee into aromatise when traded) Okay, first you need to beat the game and take on the battle tower until you get 10 BP, head to the pokemon center in Hammerlock, talk to the girl on the right and get it.
7) YOU CAN CHAGE THE DATE ON YOUR SWITCH TO CHANGE THE WEATHER IN THE GAME!!! This is how you get most pokemon! You don’t even have to close the game, just hit the home button, go to settings, scroll down to system, go to date and time, turn off synchronize to internet, change the date, hit okay and then hit the home button again and click your game to continue.
I might add more to this tomorrow or something, but I hope this helps someone out there lol

Pokecafe (Rocketshipping)
****PART TWO**** (RATING: CUTE/FLUFF)
“C’mon everyone, move faster!” Bonnie demanded leading the way to the kitchen. She was so excited to get a tour of Cafe Le Ha, she could hardly contain herself.
“Yeah, we’re coming,” Clemont huffed, annoyed at his sister’s impatience, trying to keep up with her. Ash and Serena were trailing behind as well, they’ve never seen Bonnie walk so fast in their life.
“Finally,” Bonnie breathed, making it to the kitchen door. Placing her hand on it, she started to push it open.
“Bonnie, you have no idea if they’re even ready for us to come back yet!” Clemont lightly scolded as he caught up with her.
“But they’re expecting us, so we should be fine,” Bonnie reasoned.
Opening the door to the kitchen, Bonnie’s eyes and mouth immediately widened. She couldn’t believe that she got to have a tour of this place. She instantly took notice of a giant island that was used for chopping and preparing food smack dab in the center of the room. To her left, Bonnie saw a beautiful clear double door fridge that boasted the most delicious looking ingredients. Next to the fridge were three giant ovens, each baking it’s own unique treat.
“Wow, this place is so cool,” Bonnie gasped as the rest of her friends caught up with her.
Jessie was over by the island cutting some Pecha berries trying her best to act normal. Removing herself from her present task, she quickly looked up and saw the kids. “Why hello, I hope you all enjoyed your meal. Now you get to see where it all comes together,” Jessie held her hands out to gesture the kitchen.
“Well we’re excited to be here,” Serena said.
“Yes, well why don’t we start off with meeting the head chef?” Jessie asked as she walked over to a figure huddled over by the stove, stirring what seemed to be a tomato bisque.
The chef turned around only to reveal that it was in fact a Wobbuffet standing on a ladder.
“Wobbuffet!” Wobbuffett waved.
The quartet gasped in disbelief. How could a pokemon be such a good cook?
“Wow, I’m interested to know how you guys even understand him when he gives out orders,” Clemont said in the most curious manor.
Jessie smiled Perfect she thought everything is going according to plan
“Well, I’m gonna actually let you guys in on a little secret,” she started “You see my uncle is an inventor. He’s always coming out with a new gadget every couple of weeks, and sometimes he asks me to test them out.”
All of a sudden, James made his way out of a back room connected to the kitchen, wheeling out a giant box like contraption.
“You see, Wobbuffet has certain regular commands that we don’t need a translator, but when there’s something special that he wants us to do, he enters the box, and voila! It translates what he says for us!” Jessie exclaimed. “Wobbuffet, would you be so kind as to show our guests?”
Without wasting any time, Wobbuffet stepped into the box, and started to speak.
“Welcome to Cafe Le Ha’s kitchen. We are so honored to have you here!” a semi electronic sounding voice sounded from some speakers that were attached to the contraption. Little did the kids know that this was no invention at all, but instead a dazzled up box with a secret compartment for Meowth to hide in, so he could translate everything Wobuffet was saying.
“Wow, science is so amazing!” Ash cheered. “I wish we had something like that to talk to our pokemon with!”
“I was just about to say that too,” Clemont agreed. “This truly is a scientific breakthrough! I would love to meet your uncle someday, as I myself am a fellow inventor.” Clemont boasted as he pushed his glasses firmer on his nose.
“Yes of course,” Jessie nodded “I can go get his contact information now actually!” and with that she walked out of the kitchen. She could not believe that this plan was working out so perfectly. Those twerps will believe anything  she thought as she marveled at her genius for coming up with and thinking out everything. Just one more part needs to work out, and Pikachu will be ours!
When Jessie left the kitchen, it was time for James to enact the final part of their plan.
“Well, we’ve been testing this contraption out for a couple of days,” he exclaimed “Why don’t you try it out on your pokemon?” he offered pointing to Ash’s Pikachu “What about starting with that Pikachu of yours? He looks like he has a lot to tell you.”
Ash looked at his Pikachu “What do you say bud, do you want to try it out?”
Pikachu’s face spraked up. “Pika pi” the yellow mouse squealed as he jumped off of Ash’s shoulder and into the translator. As soon as the door closed, a locking sound was instantly heard, which sent the kids into confusion.
“Um, why did the door just lock?” Serena asked, starting to get a little scared for Pikachu.
“Oh, that’s because I pressed this button,” James said bluntly as he showed the kids a remote that he had been holding in his pocket.
“Wait, something’s going on here!” Ash started to shout a little “I want Pikachu out of that box now!”
With those words, Jessie came running back into the kitchen just in time for the getaway “I’m afraid we can’t do that twerp! Because we want your Pikachu” she couldn’t contain her excitement any longer “So you can prepare for trouble!” Jessie said.
James smiled, and pressed a second button on the remote that was responsible for controlling the tiles in the floor. Instantly, it separated in two only to reveal the famous Team Rocket hot air balloon, which scooped up Team Rocket and the translator, and started to float away.
“Hm, and make it double,” James chimed in. By now Jessie and James had ridden themselves of their disguises, and Ash and his friends were no longer oblivious to the situation at hand.
“Team Rocket!” Serena shouted
“We should have known it was you guys! Give Pikachu back!” Ash broke out into a full sprint to catch up with them.
“No can do, twerp! We don’t willingly give things back,” Jessie shook her head.
“Yeah,” Meowth added coming out of the translator, “Besides, when we give this Pikachu to the boss,” James stepped in to finish the sentence “We’re gonna finally get that big fat bonus that we rightfully deserve,”
“We’re gonna be rich!” The trio sang in unison.
Ash finally caught up with the balloon, and was quick to call out Froakie and Fletchinder.
“Ok guys listen up. Fletchinder, I need you to take Froakie and sneak up to that balloon. Froakie, when you get up there, use your best cut attack to pop it. When you guys come down, grab the translator from the balloon. Pikachu is in there” Ash commanded.
Within seconds his pokemon were up in the sky, putting the plan into action. Ash untensed at their perfect execution, putting a giant gash in Team Rocket’s air balloon, and retrieving Pikachu, with little hassle.
However, where one group of people were relieved, another grew more frustrated.
“Ugh, why don’t we ever take into account that twerp’s other pokemon!” Jessie sighed.
James shook his head “It’s ok, we’ll get em next time, but until then,”
“We’re blasting off again!” Team Rocket shouted as they went flying away.
************
“Butt-er-free!” Jessie woke up to the pokemon munching on a sitrus berry. She looked around to find herself in the middle of a meadow filled with millions of wild flowers.
She rubbed her eyes, unsure of what just happened, then it all came flooding back. Her brilliant plan, the poke cafe, the twerps ruining the day again. She was certain that this time, everything would work out. She curled her knees into her chest and sat in a quasi-fetal position; she was never one to cry, but presently holding tears was a challenging feat. A rustle of the grass behind her prompted Jessie to turn around, where she saw her blue haired partner.
“Hey, there you are!” James smiled running to her “Meowth and I were looking for you…” James sat down next to Jessie, taking notice of her slumped frame “Do you want to tell me what’s wrong glum chum?” he bantered, nudging Jessie with this shoulder.
“James, you know I can’t take you seriously when you say that,” Jessie giggled a little.
“Why do you think I said it?” James winked “But seriously what’s up?”
Jessie picked a flower from her side and started to tear off the petals one by one “Well, it’s just that I really thought that this was going to be the time that we caught Pikachu. I guess I just wanted us to have a victory... especially because you and Meowth were so dejected when we first started this plan. I don’t like seeing you like that…” Jessie blushed a little.
“Wow, I didn’t know you felt that way,” James confessed  “To be honest, I really don’t like seeing you upset either. Actually, my favorite Jessie is the one that gave us that little pep talk.” James stopped to watch Jessie closely, her cheeks donning a brilliant shade of scarlett. “In fact,” James continued “I would even go as far to say that your confidence and persistence is downright hot,” James scratched his head, and looked at the sun that was barely sitting on the horizon.
Jessie’s eyes widened, her body twisting to face James. “You really think that?” she smiled.
“Yeah,as of late, it’s all I can think about” James replied “What guy wouldn’t find your confidence hot?”
Jessie chuckled a little, and leaned on James’s shoulder “Well, if you find it so hot, maybe I’ll have to give you guys pep talks more often.” she winked.
“I guess you will,” James said, as they both pulled closer into each other, and watched the vibrant sunset fade into night.

Pokeball Headcanon
Okay, this just randomly popped into my head, and it’s not quite fully fleshed out yet, so bear with me here.
In the games, when you try to catch a Pokemon, the Pokeball shakes three times, right? Then you’ve either caught it, or it jumps back out.
I reckon there’s a button inside the balls, which pops the lock, allowing the Pokemon a chance to escape. Fair play, and all that.
Plus, knowing your Pokemon won’t be trapped in their Pokeballs in a serious situation would be a relief for most decent trainers. Like, if the trainer was knocked unconscious, or even killed. The Pokemon could come out and either take them to the nearest town or one could find help whilst the others stayed to protect them.
The wobbling is the Pokemon moving around, trying to find this button.
This button is in a similar place on each ball of the same type, maybe shifted slightly due to the manufacturing process... but a largely different place in each type of ball, which is why switching ball-type can sometimes make a difficult catch easier.
It also explains why, in the anime, if their trainer is in trouble, Pokemon can sometimes jumps out of their balls without a command to help them. They know where the button is, and realise that they’re needed. Example: ‘Snow Way Out’. Ash Pokemon all left their Pokeballs to help him stay warm during the blizzard.
It also explains why some Pokemon just pop out for the lols, like Misty’s Psyduck and Jessie’s Wobbuffet.
Plus, whenever we see someone try to catch Meowth, he always comes out panting. This is because he was far more desperate to remain uncaught than most Pokemon, and he was panicking and likely banging against the inside of the ball frantically trying to find that button.
Whenever Ash befriends a Pokemon however, sometimes we don’t even see the ball shake. It just pings for a successful catch. Because they want to come with him, and don’t bother looking for the button. Others make the ball shake, because they want to know where the button is, just in case of emergencies. (Likely, because they know this kid is a dumbass and will need rescuing every so often, so being able to release themselves is a useful skill to have.)
Of course, Masterballs don’t have this button. It was likely developed for emergencies where failure was not an option. For example: a dangerously out-of-control wild/legendary Pokemon on a world-ending rampage. Considering the various myths around the legendary Pokemon in the games alone, it’s a fair bet the Masterball was created for the return of Kyogre/Groudon/Arceus/Yvetal...
TL;DR: There is a button inside the Pokeballs that Pokemon can press to get out. Masterballs don’t have it. The shaking is the Pokemon trying to find this button.

Dawn of the Dark Chapter 19
This chapter can also be found here on AO3.
Chapter 19 – A Fresh Start
“It’s been a while, hasn’t it?” James wondered out loud.
For the first time in 11 years, Jessie and James were able to return to their under-the-telephone hideout in Vermilion City. Ever since they had left Team Rocket nearly three months ago, they had a hard time finding appropriate shelter. But thanks to Meowth’s sense of smell, they were able to locate their old hideout.
Jessie was impressed that the place had remained virtually untouched, even if it did show age. “Well, it’s a good thing that most people think that above us is just an ordinary phone booth.”
“It’s also a good thing that we all have the day off. Our new boss is so cool! He already gave us PTO and plane tickets to Galar? What a great guy!” Meowth spoke as he launched himself on the couch, regretting it when a cloud of smelly dust flew about. “Ick! We’re going to need some new furniture in this joint!”
“Maybe some new paint, too…” Jessie touched the walls. “So sticky!”
“How about we leave all of our luggage here and go buy some stuff to remodel with?” James suggested.
“Ooh, that sounds great!” Jessie hugged her husband. “It would be the perfect chance for us to spend quality time together, too.”
“Yeah, being members of a criminal organization never gave us the chance to do that… Now I can enjoy a peaceful life with my lovely wife and son.” James kissed Jessie and looked her in the eyes. “So we’ve got some making up to do!”
“Yes, we do.” Jessie wrapped her arms around James’s neck.
“Hey, I know where we can go!” Damian spoke up. “Why don’t we go to Hammerlocke?”
“Wait, why there?” James wanted to know. “We can find everything we need here in Vermilion City.”
“Because… because!” Damian clearly didn’t want to reveal the real reason why he wanted to go.
“This is the prime chance to use our plane tickets…” Jessie contemplated. “Plus, Galar has many romantic and family-friendly places.”
“Yup, it’s a sign, all right.” Meowth nodded. “Off to Hammerlocke, then!”
Professor Cerise was such a generous employer that on top of the plane tickets, he gave the family a decent SUV. Damian was especially fond of the TVs attached to the back of the driver’s and passenger’s side seats. He was so fascinated by this technology that he most often spent his time channel surfing.
On their drive to the airport, Damian watched a track race between two people, dressed as an Eevee and a Pikachu. “Who do you think is gonna win, Morpeko?”
“Peko peko!” Morpeko cheered as she ate from a bowl full of popcorn.
“It’s gonna be a tight race, all right!” Damian started bobbing up and down in his seat. “Whoaaah! The Pikachu won by a hair! So cool!”
“Aww…” Jessie looked behind from the front passenger seat. “He may be one of the smartest kids at his school, but he’s still cute as a button.”
“Isn’t he?” James cooed. “Still a kid, for sure!”
Damian remained this energetic throughout the flight, even while Jessie and James slept through most of it. When the plane landed, he ran out and gleefully declared, “Mommy, Daddy, you can go have a date. Morpeko, Meowth, Wobbuffet, and I will go to Hammerlocke Stadium.”
“Uh… We will?” Meowth changed his tune when Morpeko glared at him. “I mean, of course we will! I bet your Mommy and Daddy want some alone time!”
“Okay, Damian, but be safe out there!” Jessie waved as Damian walked off.
“Why would he want to go to the stadium?” James wondered aloud as he and Jessie entered Hammerlocke proper. “He’s not an official Trainer yet, so he couldn’t possibly want to challenge the Gym Leaders…”
“Maybe to watch a match?” Jessie suggested. “We didn’t give him any money, though… I sure hope he doesn’t sneak his way in.”
Meanwhile, upon having just arrived at Hammerlocke Stadium, Damian stared at the ceiling in awe. “Wow… It’s so big, but so tough-looking! I can’t wait to become a Trainer for real so I can battle here one day!”
“Morpeko!” Morpeko sounded equally enthused.
“Did someone say, ‘battle here?’” spoke a deep voice from behind Damian.
“Eep!” Damian sharply turned around to see Raihan. “Oh, hi! You’re Lily’s daddy, aren’t you?”
“Sure am! I just finished a gym challenge, and now I’m taking a break for lunch. So, anything I can help you with, little man?”
“Is Lily here? I really would like to talk to her.”
“Sadly, no. She actually just left for Ballonlea after the gym challenge so she can make cakes with former Gym Leader Opal. For the rest of the day, I’m going to be handling gym challenges myself.”
“Aww…” Damian frowned for a fleeting second, but then he spoke with a smile, “That’s okay! I’ll just go to Ballonlea, then! Is it far from here?”
“Not really. You just have to walk through Stow-on-Side, then pass through the Glimwood Tangle.”
“Thanks!” With that, Damian took off again, calling his parents as soon as he was outside. “Mommy, Daddy, guess what-”
“No need to call us,” James spoke; coincidentally, he had passed right in front of Hammerlocke Stadium when Damian made the call. “We’re right here.”
“So, how’d the shopping trip go?” Meowth asked.
“We ordered a couple of sofas, beds, and a new coffee table,” Jessie answered. “The sofas are made from Wooloo wool, so they’ll be super comfy! They’re going to arrive at our home in about a week.”
“I forgot that we can’t carry paint on a plane,” spoke James. “But we did buy some pretty sweet wallpaper!”
“Mommy, Daddy, how about we go to Ballonlea?”
“Hmm, it is a very romantic city,” said Jessie. “Not to mention it’s not very far.”
“You want me to carry you, honey?” James asked Damian.
“No, I’m good.” Damian walked far ahead of the group, not saying a word to his parents during their trip through the Glimwood Tangle.
“That’s weird… He always says ‘yes’ when I offer to hold him.” James didn’t like Damian’s sudden change of attitude.
“He’s not even talking to or looking at us.” Jessie pouted.
“Wobba wobba…” Wobbuffet chimed in, feeling uneasy as well.
“Hmm…” Meowth stared at Damian, as if he knew what was up. “I say we let him take the lead so we can find out why he’s acting up.”
Damian got noticeably cheerier when the family reached Ballonlea. “Aaah! It’s so pretty! Hehehe!”
“Morpe?” Morpeko jumped onto a pile of mushrooms. When a Ponyta leaped out of there, she wanted to fight and entered Hangry Mode. “Moooorpeeeko!”
“Man, you’re hard to please…” Damian whined, but soon remembered his reason for coming to Ballonlea in the first place. Grabbing Morpeko, he asked, “Hey, Ponyta? Can you help us out? Is a girl named Lily here? She’s got purple hair that looks like an Alcremie.”
“Puurrrr…” Ponyta started galloping in the direction of Ballonlea Stadium.
“Wait up, Ponyta!”
Damian was easily fast enough to keep up with the Unique Horn Pokemon, but Jessie was not. “The squirt can sure run fast, can’t he?”
“Or maybe we’re getting too old to catch up.” When he reached Ballonlea Stadium, James paused to catch his breath. “Huh? There’s nobody here! What could Damian possibly want to-”
“Guess again, James.” Meowth pointed at a setup of cakes and decorations – fit for any party. At the end of this setup stood the unsuspecting Opal, Bede, and Lily.
“They’re making cakes?” James’ face lit up. “So that’s why our boy wanted to come here! This place is heaven for Morpeko!”
“I wouldn’t mind a piece of those cakes either!” Jessie licked her lips.
“I think we should wait here and watch,” Meowth suggested. “Let’s relax and let those Gym Leaders decorate cakes for us.”
“Good idea!” Jessie and James spoke in unison, taking front row seats by where the cakes were being made. To their surprise, they were completely ignored.
“Lily!” Damian called out. “Hi!”
“Hmm?” Lily took a break from her cake-decorating to acknowledge the boy. “Why, if it isn’t Damian!”
Damian’s face lit up when Lily acknowledged him. “Whatcha doing?”
“I’m decorating cakes with Miss Opal and Mr. Bede, before I give them out to people here in Ballonlea.” It didn’t take Lily long to notice Morpeko’s hangry thrashing about. “Don’t worry, little Morpeko, there’s plenty for you. Help yourself!”
“Morpeko!” Morpeko jumped on top of the largest cake and started chowing down.
“Do you need some help?” Damian noticed that the tables were full of messes and undecorated cakes.
“Would you? That would be mighty sweet of you! Come on over!”
“Hehehe!” Damian got to work right away, partnering with Lily’s Rainbow Swirl Alcremie to decorate a three-tiered cake.
“Who’s this fellow?” Opal got curious.
“He’s a kid who attends a school in Vermilion City that I frequent,” replied Lily. “His name is Damian, and even though he’s only six, he’s smarter than a fifth grader!”
“Is that so?” Bede took an interest as well. “I look forward to facing him when he becomes an official Trainer.”
“Hehe.” Damian took a bow. “Thank you, thank you very much. Next year, I get to be a sixth grader. Ms. Cerise said so.”
“You keep on truckin’, little man.” Bede smiled.
“By the way…” Opal began. “That couldn’t possibly be your Morpeko.”
“She’s my Daddy’s Morpeko! He’s over there with Mommy, Meowth, and Wobbuffet!” Damian pointed to where his family sat.
“H-Hello!” Jessie waved nervously, hoping that her presence there wouldn’t create a scene.
“Aren’t they a part of Team Rocket?” Bede grimaced.
“Nope, not any more! Mommy and Daddy are research assistants for Professor Cerise now!”
“Damian, I’m happy for you.” Lily patted Damian on the head. “You finally get a fresh start.”
Damian blushed at this gesture, hoping that Lily wouldn’t notice. “Thanks!”
“So no more causing trouble at school, okay?”
“I’ll, uh, try not to. Maybe.” Damian had to admit that he couldn’t truly forsake playing pranks with Parker once in a while.
Lily continued talking with Damian for so long that before anyone knew it, they had already decorated five cakes, all with different Alcremie flavours. “Perfect! They’re all ready to go!”
“Probably shouldn’t do them all at once…” Bede thought. “Three tops.”
“In that case…” Lily turned to Damian. “You can take one home! Pick any one you like!”
“Ooh, okay!” Damian hurriedly gave Jessie a boxed-up Caramel Swirl cake with ornate decorations, then returned to the table. “Here.”
“What’s the meaning of this?” Lily was surprised when Damian handed her the cake that they made together.
“That one’s for you. Take it, please? You should get to enjoy your own cakes sometimes.”
“I gladly will!” Lily sent out a transport Corviknight. She put the Rainbow Swirl cake in the Corviknight’s pouch and spoke, “Can you take this home to Uncle Hop?”
“Cooooor!” With that, Corviknight flew off.
“Now it’s time to go give these out,” Lily declared when she, Bede, and Damian each took one cake. “What do you say?”
“Yeah, let’s go!” Damian hummed on his way back outside.
At this point, Jessie had to scratch that itch of curiosity. “All right, spill it, little man. Why have you been acting weird?”
“Weird?” Damian remained oblivious.
“I mean, you largely ignored us for the past twenty minutes…” James spoke up. “To top it all off, you decorated a cake instead of pulling pranks.”
“Yeah, that was my wedding cake for Lily!”
Jessie couldn’t believe what her young son just said. “Uh… Come again?”
“When we get all grown up, I’m gonna marry Lily! You just watch!”
“I knew it…” Meowth nodded. “The boy’s got a crush. A big one, at that.”
“Whaaat?” James exclaimed. “Already?”
“There’s no way it’s real… Right?” Jessie spoke slowly.
“It’s more common than you think.” Meowth shifted his focus to Damian, taking the matter into his own paws. “Damian, why do you like Lily so much?”
“She’s a really nice girl. She’s a Gym Leader but is always helping people out.” Damian hugged the cake box he carried. “And being around her makes me feel happy and calm.”
“…He’s got it bad, all right,” Jessie remarked.
“Wobbuffet.” Wobbuffet concurred with his Trainer.
“You plan on telling her?” Meowth continued when Lily and Bede started handing out cakes to less fortunate kids in Ballonlea.
“I… I don’t know… I just know I really, really like to be around her.”
“Well, whatever you do, take it slow. Don’t do anything to make her feel uncomfortable.” Meowth’s mind filled with thoughts of Meowzie, and the painstaking but futile efforts he tried to gain her affections. He cried a little while he spoke, “Don’t make the same mistake I did.”
“Meowth?” Damian gave the cake he was holding to Wobbuffet. “Are you okay, man? Are you crying?”
“N-No!” Meowth denied, despite full-on crying now. “Just got a little somethin’ in my eye, that’s all!”
“I don’t know what’s going on, but… You’re a really cool dude!” Damian knelt and gave Meowth a hug.
“You mean… You don’t think I’m freaky?” Meowth blinked.
“Nope, not at all! I mean, a Pokemon that can walk and talk like a human? How cool is that? You worked really, really hard!”
“Morpeko!” Morpeko jumped onto Meowth’s head.
“Not as cool as you!”
“Poor Meowth…” Jessie hadn’t thought of Meowth’s backstory for a while, but she cried with him.
“Our ol’ chum has come a long way, hasn’t he?” James cried too.
Before Jessie and James could join in the group hug, Lily walked up to Wobbuffet. “I’ll take that cake, thanks!”
“Oh, I almost forgot we had another cake to give out.” Meowth wiped his tears.
“This one’s going to a really special lady.” Lily turned around and gave the cake to an elderly lady with two small children. “Here you go, ma’am!”
“For me?” The elderly woman took the cake with gratitude. “It’s such a big cake!”
“Yeah! You work really hard to run the orphanage here while raising two grandchildren by yourself. A sweet treat for a sweet lady!”
“Thank you, Gym Leader Lily.”
“Bye! Take care of yourself, now!” No sooner had Lily waved the elderly woman goodbye when she got a call on her Rotom Phone. “Yeah, Daddy? …Aw, okay. Yeah, I’ll be there.”
“Going somewhere?” Damian frowned.
“Yeah, Daddy wants me to take care of the rest of the gym battles for today. His Pokemon are all tuckered out and resting at the Pokemon Center.” Lily sighed before pumping her fists in the air. “All right, Alcremies, it’s gonna be showtime soon!”
“Cremie cremie!” The Alcremies jumped back on Lily’s shoulders.
“Say, you wanna come with?” Lily offered to the former members of Team Rocket. “As thanks for helping me with the cakes, Damian, you and your family can watch my matches for the rest of the day. My treat.”
“What? But we haven’t even found lodging for the night…” James began. “And our flight back to Vermilion City leaves 6:00 tomorrow sharp.”
“That’s okay! You can spend the night with me, Daddy, and Uncle Hop. Uncle Hop can even drive you to the airport tomorrow.”
“Really?” Damian jumped for joy. “Yeah!”
“Flying Taxi is here!” Lily gestured towards the Flying Taxi she called for. “Everyone aboard!”
As the Flying Taxi made its way for Hammerlocke, Jessie couldn’t help but watch her son with a smile. “You know, we’ve come a long way too.”
“You think so, Jess?” James leaned into his wife, wanting to sleep on her shoulder.
“Yeah. Though our experiences in Team Rocket were humbling and have made us tough… Nothing – nothing – beats a life where we can raise a family and live the normal life that we deserve.”

That’s the Way It Is!
Two criminals and a cat get locked in a love hotel with a nocturnal land squid whose hobbies are screaming and mashing elevator buttons at 2 AM.
Or, I didn’t think anyone had written about Wobbuffet challenging James for the sleeping place next to Jessie yet and I am weak.
Or, “How many Pokémon can conceivably fit in a bathtub?”
