February 1978. Released a year after the royal Silver Jubilee to which the title alludes, this colorful, moderately surreal, definitely pretentious Derek Jarman punk indulgence is framed by an odd sequence in which an angel (Ian Charleson) gives Queen Elizabeth I (Jenny Runacre) and John Dee (Richard O'Brien) a glimpse of the future, where a group of young punks — Amyl (Pamela Rooke, aka Jordan), Crabs (Little Nell, aka Nell Campbell, who could have convincingly played Helen Mirren's younger sister), Viv (Linda Spurrier), Mad (Toyah Willcox), Sphinx (Karl Johnson), Angel (Ian Charleson), and Kid (Adam Ant), along with the somewhat older and decidedly mad Bod (also Runacre) — struggle with end-of-the-world ennui and boredom that they try to fill with looting, sex, music (produced by the deranged Borgia Ginz, played by Jack Birkett, aka Orlando), mindless aggro, and the occasional recreational murder. (The story doesn't ever spell out exactly why the world is ending, but anyone living in the gloomy inflationary austerity of late '70s Britain hardly needed any elaboration on that score.)

Even if you don't recognize the various punk and New Wave figures who appear throughout, the film captures the early punk sensibility pretty well, although for all its mayhem, its aura of studied disaffection makes it rather slow-moving and occasionally dull. This seems intentional — the characters themselves are desperately bored, and while everyone's still going through the motions out of inertia or nostalgia, the point is that there is no point.

For all that, JUBILEE is still significantly less cynical than the later LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, THE FABULOUS STAINS (which also features an array of punk stars), and occasionally manages to seem strangely wistful. CONTAINS LESBIANS? There's a fair amount of gay sex, but the closest it gets to wlw is a scene where Bod and Mad do a little knife-play. VERDICT: Definitely an acquired taste, but if you have any interest in punk, New Wave, or post punk, it's essential viewing. As a companion piece, try the somewhat earlier THE FINAL PROGRAMME (also with Jenny Runacre), based on Michael Moorcock's Jerry Cornelius novel, which is similar in tone and sensibility.

This was the ninth- no.... tenths loop. He is eating his breakfast and he is dizzy again. Because Mom drugged his oatmeal, because Mom and Dad knew! Danny stood up from his chair and tried to leave the kitchen. (He knew it wouldn't work, it never worked) His eyes grew heavy and a few steps later he hit the ground.

He wakes up to the same gruesome picture as in the last nine loops. But Danny doesn't beg anymore. Or says anything. It hurts, but it's nothing he hasn't had felt before. It would only take them a week before they would destroy his core again and then everything would start anew. Maybe he could think of something better for next time.

The last feeling he remembered was an all encompassing pain, as his Dad crushed his core. But he was at the breakfast table again, already feeling groggy. But maybe this time he could get help? He knew that he could fight the drugs for around ten minutes, as long as he didn't stand up.

So instead he got his phone out of his pocket. He knew that neither his sisters, nor his friends would be fast enough, he already tried them, but maybe someone else could be fast enough.

He opened Twitter and started to write a new post, ignoring his atrocious spelling in favor of getting as many information out as possible.

He was able to press send, before his vision would become to spotty. Now he just needed to hope that the fastest man alive would be able to help him. Danny's head fell on the table.

It was the eleventh time he woke up to the same scene and this time he couldn't do anything against his tears. He would die again... and again and again...

Danny's spiraling thought were interrupted by the basement door, that had hit the wall. This was new!

Ciri feels a bit like she's been in the way, once Geralt and Milek become closer - like she held him back somehow.

The thing I think is crucial about this - things went wrong and Geralt missed out on seeing Milek growing up - but Geralt is a dad. The parallels are there.

Y’know, I was thinking about like, before the Justice League forms in this au.

Just slowly rotating Bruce meeting Clark and Diana before they start the league, maybe even help each other out. Need another heavy hitter? Time to call in Clark! Someone mind controls Superman again? Time to call Diana! Need information about some sort of artifact? Diana is there! Want weirdly specific information that no one should know or to get into a place they can’t? Time to call in Bruce! Need a distraction? Boy does Bruce have you covered! Need diplomacy because this alien AI is pissed? Diana pulls on her training as a princess, warrior or not. Need to seem harmless- why, there’s a sunshine alien sweetheart with the same vibes as an overgrown puppy ready to help!

Honestly it’s a surprise no one has realized they know each other yet, but then again Bruce really embodies being a cryptid and just doesn’t sit still for any potential photos. Sure there are some with Wonder Woman and Superman visible with him hidden in the shadows, but no one outside of Gotham really knows about him. Like I am imagining their friendship being both “two extroverts adopt this introvert” and “we’re coaxing this stray cat with its dozen of kittens over no matter what”

whenever someone asks me for help or advice i want to beam all my lived experience and advice that helped me through it directly into their mind to try and spare them as much pain and stress as possible, but because i cant actually do that what ends up happening is i dump everything i know related to that topic hoping something helps them like

What I think is so important to learning how to truly appreciate life is learning how to appreciate the creatures and things we've categorized as "disgusting" or "gross."

When I learned to appreciate wasps, I realized how much they just... don't really care about anything, and they're not trying to be an asshole because they're uniquely cruel. If they have any wants, it is to live. Why would I punish that when I also want to live?

This isn't to say you need to fall in love with the creepy crawlies that stalk this world or to love what you cannot, but to recognize that in their arrangement of atoms, they are trying to persevere, and in the end... aren't we all?

In case it hasn't been made clear, Behind The Codes is not a horror series. Despite having some disturbing themes, it doesn't focus on them the same way FNAF games did.

#I'm a big fan of silence as a cinematic tool #and when something feels wrong but you can't actually point your finger at it #as well as the concept of dreams and nightmares #the more time you spend analyzing them. the more you realize what's really troubling you deep down #some themes and visuals are tricky and make you frustrated because their meanings are unknown to you #things that are “without foot nor head”#might as well mention the concept of time running out. there are PLENTY more themes to explore!#you know you don't have to fear anything. as long as you keep your mind's integrity #but what if someone were to take that away from you. something so personal as a name or a story #an empty vessel will seek out fulfillment and eventually learn to love and hate all over again #starbstalks
