Joey B Imagines: Double Trouble
Tumblr media
————————————————————————
summary: when you’re pregnant with the quarterback of the cincinnati bengal’s twins, you just have to incorporate your husband’s teammates into your gender reveal.
warnings: fluff, mentions of pregnancy
pairing: joe burrow x reader
Imagine universe: into the mystic
————————————————————————
(y/n's pov)
"good morning, mamas" - joe grinned
i opened my eyes to see joe walking into our bedroom holding a tray with breakfast on it.
"morning, baby" - you
i leaned up and joe placed the tray on my lap.
as soon as he knew i was situated, joe got under the covers and sat in bed next to me.
"how'd you sleep?" - joe
"not bad, the babies were kicking though so that was distracting" - you
"they're kicking already?!" - joe
"yeah i'm 17 weeks, that's when they start kicking joe." - you
"do you think i could feel it if i put my hand on your bump?" - joe
"probably. here, give me your hand" - you
joe stuck his hand out and i took it, placing it on my bump.
i felt one of the twins kick and joe did too, his face lit up and he stared at me smiling.
“that feels insane, it’s so cool though. it’s really reassuring.” - joe
i watched joe lay his head on my bump, trying to get closer to his babies.
"you're so cute" - you
joe leaned up for a second and smiled at me, his head then went back down to my bump and he placed to kisses on it. one for each twin.
after he was done, joe laid next to me and put spongebob on.
i just enjoyed watching it as i ate the breakfast joe prepared for me.
"do you think we’re having two girls, a boy and a girl, or two boys?" - joe
"girls" - you
"i think it’s two boys but we'll find out tonight, right?" - joe smiled
i nodded and kissed his cheek before i finally started eating. joe was preoccupied watching his show while laying on my shoulder and tracing small shapes on my bump.
after the episode was finished and i was done with my breakfast, joe rolled over to give me a kiss before standing up from the bed.
"i guess i’m gonna leave you alone now so that you can get ready for the party" - joe
"thank you for breakfast, i love you" - you
"you're welcome, i love you too" - joe kissed you
joe retreated to the living room, leaving me some peace and quiet to get ready for the twins gender reveal.
i was wearing a flowy white dress that had little pink and blue flowers embroidered in it.
the cut was low, so i knew joe was gonna love it.
i curled my hair and waited for alexa to arrive for her to do my makeup.
*time skip*
i was in the kitchen helping my mom put the gender reveal oriented treats out when joe walked in through the back door.
“baby, the decorations are here and i have literally no idea how you want them set up so.." - joe
“you need help?” - you
“yes” - joe grinned
“joseph! you’re really going to make your pregnant wife help you with those heavy and big decorations?” - robin walked in
i couldn’t help but laugh at joe’s annoyed face as he was scolded by his mother.
“i’m still the one moving them mom, she’s just telling me where they go. i promise she won’t have to lift a finger.” - joe
“good.” - robin
as i moved out of the kitchen and up to joe his hands found their way to the small of my back as my hands rested on his chest.
“i love you.” - joe smiled
“i love you too.” - you met him halfway and kissed his perfect lips
both of our moms stood in the kitchen smiling at the sight of their kids in love.
“i’m not gonna lie i’m kinda nervous.” - joe
“that’s expected, joey. we’re finding out the genders of our first kids, that’s kinda nerve racking.” - you
“it is. i’m also so excited and very happy though. we’re gonna be such a good team when it comes to parenting.” - joe smirked
“duh.” - you smiled back
we stood there for a few more minutes, flirting with each other even though we were literally married till my friends started to arrive.
there were pro’s and con’s when it came to joe’s job in the nfl. it sure did cause us both anxiety, but i loved watching joe live out his dreams and the relationships it’s given us are irreplaceable.
my best friends (not including joe) were all girls i had met because of the bengals. gracie mcpherson, evan mcpherson’s wife. jess koehler, sam hubbard’s girlfriend. one of my college friends had also found themselves in love with a bengals player. alexa was one my closest friends while at lsu since she was my roommate, i was already dating joe so as she started tagging along to more games she developed feelings for ja’marr chase. she didn’t end up confessing to him till his senior year but they’ve been together ever since and live not that far from joe and i.
alexa, jess, and gracie all arrived at around the same time with their boys.
ja’marr held his 7 month old son on his hip, he was ja’marr chase jr. but we all referred to him as jj.
he was the most adorable thing ever and his love for joe is what makes me secretly want a boy so bad. i thought i was carrying two girls, but lately the thought of a mini version of joe running around usually ended in me crying.
alexa, jess, and gracie all gave me a hug while joe was occupied talking to the guys.
“wanna help me set up?” - you
all the girls nodded and followed me outside, i turned around when i remembered that joe still had to get ready.
"joe can you please get ready?" - you
"i am ready?" - joe
i examined joes grey skinny jeans and black t-shirt pairing before shooting him a “really?” look.
"your outfit is hanging up in the closet" - you
"what's wrong with what i have on?" - joe
i turned around and answered his questions as i walked off.
"your outfit is hanging up in the closet!" - you
as i walked into the backyard i could hear the guys laughing and giving joe a hard time.
about 10 minutes of us struggling i decided it was probably best to get joe to help us actually move everything while i just directed him.
after sending him a quick text asking him to report to the backyard, he was walking out the back door in less than 2 minutes.
joe smiled to himself as he watched the golden hour lighting hitting your soft skin, accentuating the bump you’ve both come to love so dearly.
"do i look alright?" - joe
he walked up to me and did a little spin, showing off the outfit i picked out for him.
after his spin he put his arms around me and pulled me to him, my hands naturally falling into his chest.
"you look amazing" - you smiled
he kissed me but while he pulled away he whispered something in my ear.
"you look pretty good too baby, love the cut of the dress" - joe whispered
"ewwwwww" - alexa
i laughed as i laid my head on joes shoulder.
alexa took a picture of us and snickered before saying, “y'all are obsessed with each other."
"do you want me to get jamarr out here too? you'll stop complaining then" - joe
as i was laying on his shoulder i looked up at him and noticed the stubble on his chin.
i loved joe’s beard, loved. after him recently growing out his hair i didn’t think he would be growing any facial hair, just keeping the fade and freshly shaven face.
"joey, when was the last time you shaved?" - you
"three days ago. i’m thinking about growing it back out. what do ya think?" - joe
joe knew full and well that i loved when he had his beard so in return i placed kisses along his stubbled jawline.
"i’m gonna take that as a yes to growing it back out?" - joe chuckled
i leaned away from him and nodded, alexa and gracie stood a few feet away. they thought the moment was cute but we’re slightly annoyed that joe and i were more of a distraction than help.
"are y'all gonna stand there and fawn over each other or help us?!" - alexa
joes arms fell from my waist and he took my hand, walking us over to help alexa.
it wasn't long till ja'marr walked out to help too, so alexa and i directed the boys as they put the decorations up.
about an hour later everything was set up and ready and people started arriving.
our backyard was pretty spacious so we had many tables for guests to sit at and tables for food.
since joe and i were more than fortunate we asked for people not to buy us gifts because we were perfectly capable of buying everything for the twins on our own.
by the time that all the guests had arrived, joe and i made our rounds to all the tables to thank everyone for coming.
once family and friends were done, we walked over to the long table specially for the team. they were all in attendance, including coach taylor.
they were going to be apart of the reveal.
after everyone was done eating and playing games i herded the football team inside the house to explain to them what they were going to do.
they all stood in a circle, me standing in the middle explaining everything.
"okay so just get into position like you guys are scrimmaging at practice. ted when i give you signal snap the ball to joe, joe you throw the ball to ja'marr and you better catch it because as a celebration you'll spike it on the ground and it'll explode blue or pink. that's for twin number 1. now for twin number two this is just evan. i have a tee set up and you'll kick the ball like you're kicking a field goal. whatever color comes out, blue or pink, that's twin 2" - you
"that's so cool" - evan
all the guys clapped and cheered causing me to smile.
"who came up with this? because it definitely wasn't joe" - sam (h) chuckled
"i did" - you grinned
"figured, lord knows burrow isn't the party planner type" - tyler b laughed
"hey now, i picked out the food" - joe
"yeah now answer this. who picked out your outfit?" - tee chuckled
"y/n.." - joe sighed
"knew it!" - tee laughed
the whole team erupted into laughter but joe rolled his eyes and crossed his arms.
"okay okay okay everyone calm down! do you guys know what they're doing?" - you
"am i allowed to sack joe?" - sam (h)
"no, d-line i swear don't try to sack joe" - you
"okay. now does everyone understand?" - you
everyone nodded so the circle opened for me to exit, the boys following behind me.
once we were all outside and the boys were in their positions alexa and gracie got everyone's attention.
"okay everyone! if you'd direct your attention to the children- i mean team." - alexa jokes
everyone laughed as gracie continued on
"the ball will explode pink or blue revealing the gender of twin 1" - gracie
they moved out of the way and joe gave me a quick kiss before i handed him the ball.
i backed up a little and joe handed the ball to ted.
all the players got into position.
"set hut!" - joe
ted snapped the ball to joe who threw it to ja'marr.
ja'marr caught it and ran to the end of the yard.
he spiked the ball and blue powder came flying out.
the entire team started jumping up and down excited.
they all ran towards joe but he bypassed them and went straight for me.
he picked me up and spun me around as my arms went around his neck.
"we're having a boy!!" - joe yelled
i was literally crying at this point, from the excitement from joe + the rest of the team and a mix of hormones.
when joe and i pulled away from each other we looked at each other and noticed we were both crying so we laughed for a second then wiped the tears off of the others face.
the team moved over into a corner, giving evan plenty of room for his kick.
"now shooter over here is gonna kick the ball like he's kicking a field goal and again the ball will explode either pink or blue" - gracie
evan set the ball on the tee and took a few steps back before running up too it and kicking the ball.
it exploded and blue powder filled the sky again.
the boys all jumped up and down again and joe pulled me back into a hug as we both cried more.
"two boys!" - you
"i've never been so happy" - joe smiled
"aww joey" - you kissed his cheek
i don’t think i’d ever been so happy either. there were two little mini joe’s that were going to come into the world in around 4 months and with actual joe by my side, i knew i was set to be one lucky momma.

A/N: was feeling particularly soft and magical this september afternoon, so im here to feed the beasts (with love) gif creds: @osvaldrps-archived
Pairings: Husband!Neville Longbottom x Pregnant!Fem!Reader
Summary: Your family of nearly three share a moment in the living room. 0.8k words
Warnings: set when both are ~20s-30s, pregnancy, established relationship, dorky dad neville, fluff, smutty intentions but only jokes
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's all got Neville worried down to the bone. The weight of being a good husband was heavy enough without the impending uncertainty of fatherhood. Which is not to say he isn't a good husband or that he wouldn't be a good father, but the stress of it can be crippling for the nervous wreck that he is.
Though, his shakiness is ever soothed by the way you hold the back of his head when you kiss him, the way you clean his glasses of dirt smudges, the way you catch his eye in your sweetly flowing skirts, dresses, and blouses. Daintily, he'd say, very prettily.
"They're like house pets at this point," you remark, tip-toeing over the vines weaving between the slats of your hardwood flooring. Throughout the kitchen, greenery creeps in through open windows, finding home in doorframes and across the ceiling. They can't help it. The September chill is getting to everybody.
"I just can't bring myself to trim them!" he chirps, catching your waist when you trip into his side, belly protruding against your floral house dress. "On second thought—"
"No, no, Nev! I like it. I like them. It's free interior design."
"Damn weeds. It's a free death sentence."
"You're just a pessimist!" you tease.
As open to ogling as you always seem to be, he hates that you can still make him blush after all these years. Even with duckfoot ivy weaving its way through your shared home and baby names listed on the chalkboard by the door, he's still blushing when you so much as look at him.
And right now, you're looking at your horticulturist's dirt-smudged under shirt exposed beneath his striped button down. Which also happens to be smudged with dirt.
He clears his throat.
"Nervous, my dear?" you tease when he diverts his gaze from down your neckline.
"Hmm? Oh, no, not at all"—his voice falters, and he tries to focus back on the delicate clay pot in his hands—"Craving anything for lunch?"
"Nothing much," you sigh, "maybe a bite of my husband."
He blinks, eyes wide open but blank like the dial tone is just ringing through his skull. He places the empty pot gently in the sink basin, moving both damp hands to your waist with that doe-eyed look.
"You've already got one in there, lovebug, we can't go around trying for another now, can we," he says. You toss your head back with laughter, and he watches you in annoyed amazement. Since when were you impervious to his awkward charm. "Come on, lunch. Anything you want."
He cups his hands together around your lower back, letting out a soft breath when you push his hair out of his face and thumb the dirt from his brow.
"Let's see... couple of ice lollies? Sounds good, dunnit?"
"Well-rounded, definitely," he says, patting your bum with a chuckle. "I'll make some sandwiches. And I've got time for a walk after."
"You'll spoil me rotten, Mr Longbottom!"
"Watch it, or you're getting triplets."
"Oh, you're nasty, Mr Longbottom," you tease, holding his chin and leaning in for a kiss. He spins you round and pats you towards the living area.
You hurdle a couple of roots and make it halfway to the hand-me-down chaise lounge in the corner when you feel a sharp twitch.
"Christ," you yelp, grabbing the arm of the chair with a hiss, slightly bent at the waist and taking a deep breath.
"Baby? What's going on?"
"She's kicking again!" Your palm is splayed across your rounded belly as you practice deep, circular breathing. There's a harsh clammer from the kitchen. Then silence.
Then he appears in the opening, hair flopping down over his forehead, brows furrowed, towel flung over his shoulder, so still you'd think he saw his old, cranky professor.
"...She?" he huffs, pushing a hand through his hair.
"Oh. Oh, Nev, I—" You cup your palm over your mouth with a sharp breath in. "You wanted it to be a surprise. I'm so sorry."
But a smile makes its way across his lips, pulling and tugging at the soft pink as he shuffles closer. Two strong hands meet yours on the curve of your belly, welcoming another jolt. One reaches for the back of your neck, and he leans in to kiss your worried forehead.
"We're having a baby girl?"
You nod, tears welling in your eyes when he tilts your chin up to peck your wobbly bottom lip. You feel the stubbly skin of his cheek with the pad of your thumb and let him kiss you once more.
"I was so restless, I had to know," you huff, "I'm such a spoilsport! You were so excited, Nev!"
"I know. And you're not a spoilsport. I'm still excited, know why?"
"Why?" you say, wiping your nose and pouting at him. He grins.
"Because she's ours."

Oh my God, the baby fever Wesker SENT ME... Could I request one where he finally becomes a dad and is so soft with his S/O while they're pregnant and at the end they go into labour? Wesker is scared something might happen (Maybe this fear isn't unfounded 👀) but he's doing everything he to keep them calm and praise them for being brave. So brave.
Tumblr media
𝐏𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐫𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐏𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐝𝐨𝐱 ꨄ ( 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟐 ) sfw
pairings - Husband! Wesker x Fem! Reader
(𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝟏 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞)
𝐀/𝐧- his little smile in this pic :3
sorry I just had to make him a girl dad because. yea. also i genuinely don’t know how to write long fics i’m sorry :( I have the attention span of an ant
𝐂𝐰- just fluff, they take a bath together, pregnancy, childbirth with the use of epidural, slight mentions of weight gain, Wesker being a softy ❦
╰₊✧ ゚⚬𓂂➢
“Sit down, dear,” your husband insists. Ever since that test read back as positive, Wesker has done nothing but baby you.
You’re hungry? He’s cooking you the most extravagant meal, articulately planned out days in advance. He wouldn’t let you ingest anything that could even slightly possibly be harmful to you or his baby.
No fish, lunch meat, and especially no caffeine or herbal teas. He didn’t care if he was being paranoid. With ongoing pregnancy, you could never be too careful.
“Feeling better today? he asks, setting down your plate of breakfast at the table in front of you. “We have lamaze class soon.”
“Much better,” you answer. “All thanks to you.”
Poor man was practically traumatized from your previous weeks of morning sickness. It was no longer an issue, midway through your second trimester. Still, he knew very well how nauseous you’ve been feeling.
He hated not being able to be home with you 24/7 because of work. He was terrified something was going to happen to you without his support.
“How about we take a bath together?” he suggests. “After you’re finished with breakfast of course. I know you’ve been feeling sore.”
Yet another thing he refused to allow you to do on your own. He was too scared you were going to faint, or worse, slip on something. It sickened him to even think about. He’d much rather stick to your side as much as he can to prevent these things. You didn’t mind it. It was cute how invested he was.
You agree and he scurries off to ready the bath while you finish up. He fills the tub halfway with medium temp water and its ready by the time you are.
Wesker gets in first, gently guiding you in after him to sit between his legs. He rests his chin on your shoulder, rubbing his hands over the little bump of your belly. “There’s no way there’s a human in there…”
“You say this every day,” you giggle.
“I know. I’m sorry, it’s just so fascinating.”
He wets the sponge, soaping up your back for you, along with the rest. He washes you from head to toe so you don’t have to strain.
But after about 15 minutes you have to get out. Again, something he read about online. Plus, you had to get ready for your class.
It’s the first day, but you’re not all that worried with him by your side, so ready and willing. You both get dressed together, making your way there by car.
Both of you take your seats in the empty spots of the front row with the other expecting mothers and their partners. You’ve been feeling like a bit of a balloon lately, so it’s nice to see others who are dealing with the same processes as you. The instructor starts to talk about the different breathing exercises and techniques that will help you through the process of childbirth.
Wesker holds your hand and squeezes it tightly, listening intently to the instructor. You’ve never seen him so focused.
The instructor leads the class through a series of partner exercises. Each involves two people and focuses on different aspects of pregnancy. At first, they are a little awkward but you and Wesker quickly get into a rhythm.
You both practice your breathing techniques together, maintaining eye contact and learning how important intimacy and trust can be for the process of giving birth.
As the it goes on, the exercises become more complex. You're both sweating and slightly out of breath but you're enjoying every moment of it.
Everyone else in the class seems to fade away and it feels like it’s just the two of you finally having fun together. Wesker was never the type to go out and enjoy himself, so seeing him smile and laugh like this was heartwarming.
Both of you lose track of time, genuinely just enjoying spending time with one another and the class eventually ends. By the time it’s over, you feel closer to him than you did before walking in.
You continue to go to the weekly class throughout the rest of your second trimester and third.
When your contractions grow to be so constant painful you can hardly walk, Wesker is immediately ready with your hospital bag, rushing you to the car. He holds your hand tightly as always like he’s afraid of letting go. You try to stay relaxed but it's becoming increasingly difficult as the pain gets worse.
He drives you there as fast as he can without speeding and helps you into the building. Your water breaks on the way there and the nurses attend to you immediately and help guide you straight to the birthing suite.
Wesker waits anxiously outside as the doctors prepare you for delivery.
He leans against the wall and watches through the open door as you're hooked up to monitors, and given an epidural to help relieve some of the pain. The doctors assure him that everything is going to be fine but he feels too apprehensive to just stand by.
The nurses tell him that it's not necessary for him to be with you during the birth, and technically due to sterile regulations he shouldn’t yet, but he won't have it. He can't bear to see you in so much pain.
He goes in anyway, pulling up a chair by your bedside. “It’s going to be okay, dear. We’ll get through this together.” he encourages, getting as close to you as he can without overwhelming you.
He keeps an eye on your vitals, making sure you’re remembering to breathe steady. “Focus on me…”
You try your best, but it’s a struggle to breathe steady and focus on anything but the burdening weight and repetitive contractions despite the epidural’s effects.
As the minutes pass you can’t help but cry from the discomfort, and it tugs heavily on Wesker’s heart strings. He feels useless, unable to ease your hurt, not even realizing the difference he’s making in comforting you. Without him you’d probably be in a frenzy by now.
Everything happens faster than anticipated. The process is becoming increasingly intense as you've reached the pushing point and the baby works its way through the birth canal. You’re gripping his hand so tightly it’s probably enough to break something, but you aren’t too considerate of that at the moment.
“Keep breathing, sweetheart,” he urges, but you can hardly hear over your strained screams. “You’re doing so well. So brave.”
Seeing you in this state is enough to make him get all choked up along with you.
“I can’t do it!” you sob through tightly closed eyes, gritting your teeth. Every part of you is achingly stiff.
“Yes you can,” he croons. “We’re halfway through already. Breathe with me…slow deep breaths.”
He puts more emphasis on his demonstration, trying his hardest as he notices your paling face. The beeping of the heart monitor increases as you get more and more overwhelmed.
“Breathe,” he repeats and you try to match him while simultaneously pushing at the doctor’s order. You feel completely exhausted and you can barely focus on anything but getting this baby out.
You lean into him as much as your IV hookup will allow, trying to listen to his soft, concerned voice. Before you know it, cries fill the room that aren’t yours.
Your eyes open to the beautiful baby girl you delivered into the world who’s now finally laid in your arms. It makes you forget everything else exists as you look down at her, so tiny, yet so big.
Wesker is in shock as he looks her over. It was hard to believe the both of you could make a whole being. The thought was unreal. All he knew was that he was incredibly happy, especially now that you’re calmer.
Your time with her is cut short, temporarily, as the nurses have to take her to check for any health concerns, and all the other important afterbirth details, leaving you alone in the room with your husband.
He brushes your hair out of your face which was sticky with sweat. “I can’t believe we have a daughter. You’re so amazing, dear,” he says, Im so proud of you for holding together. I don’t know what i’d do without you.”
“I couldn’t have done it without you…” you croak out, your voice hoarse from all the yelling and grunting you were put through.
He looks at you with such a loving yet uneasy gaze. “How are you feeling..?” he asks, even though he can see the answer.
“m’ tired…”
“You can rest now. The worst is over, I think. You’ve done plenty, try and relax for me.”

bro that teen pregnancy shit fucked me upppp 😭 I fr am in tears and rolling around my bed lol
my brain went on a tangent halfway thru the moms section I was like damn okay what if mc and cove just ran away huh then what
AND THEN I remembered they’ve already ran away before which is part of why mom is so worried about cove’s influence and hellooooo???? full circle moment 🫢 made myself gasp fr
ya u make me think so many thoughts on this one good lordddd
-🗑️
LOL AWW I DIDN'T THINK EVERYONE WOULD GET SO EMOTIONAL </3 AND LMAOOO I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU THOUGHT ABT RUNNING AWAY AGAIN, PLEASE IS THIS GONNA BE A TRADITION LOL anyway, well good morning!!!! here's more angst n food for thought🤭🤭
tags : Angst / Hurt/Comfort, headcanons, fem/afab reader, pregnancy
[part 1: "everyone finding out cove and MC got engaged because they're pregnant"]
Tumblr media
his whole world stops. his ears feel like they've been stuffed with cotton and his world is spinning outta control.
now lets assume the rubber broke, just for, simplicity n lore sake.
it's not that he wasn't already worried about this happening, he had been worrying about this for weeks since you realized what happened.
but even then, he already had the fear of god in him about this happening. both because his mom and dad were on him about safe sex, but also because he has a lot of feelings about being an accident n child to teen parents... and he really didn't want to recreate that situation or put feelings like that onto another life, another human with complex emotions and many many thoughts. a human and life he's responsible for.
it shocks him so much, because he's very worried about repeating of his childhood on his child, and his kid feeling the same way he did/does.
he already knows that either way, the babe will probably have mixed feelings on being a accident, and essentially being a bump in road of his young parents lives
but it's also everything he had been worrying about, finally coming to fruition.
even though he's very, very stressed and scared for your futures, he's long since decided to make it work. he really wants to make it work. he wants to do the best by you, and the babe. and he wants to give his kid what he didn't have.
but anyway...
you're very worried about dropping the news on him
and i bought you aren't surprised at how pale cove gets when you drop the news...
and if he's not sitting down already, he is now. (he might just faint, like forreal this time too from the looks of it...)
he's very emotional, and super nervous, but what scares you is that he's very quiet...
when he does speak though, his first question is "what're.. what are you gonna do?"
because before he gets too emotional, he wants to know what you want first. you're carrying the baby and you're the one who'd go through all the changes, and you're the one who has the most intense feelings and being pregnant makes your emotions n hormones even crazier and more intensified.
all that plus how young you two are? and all the plans you two had? yeah, it's a lot, and regardless of how he feels, he wants to do whatever you want and he'd understand if you decide not to keep it.
but if you say right then and there, you wanna keep it, cove says he'll take care of you, and the babe, comforts you and hugs you. then he says wants to get married..
or if you say you dont know... cove says you two will work through these emotions, and that no matter what, he'll take care of you, and the baby if you want it.
when you do eventually say you want to keep it, even if you say this a couple minutes after, or a few days after, cove comforts you again and promises you'll work through this, and that it'll be okay.
then he brings up getting married...
of course it's more emotional, and maybe even a bit romantic!
so imagine this, you're sitting on your bed, and you and cove are hugging each other, you're wrapped up in his arms and it's a great comfort.
you're both really emotional, and calming down after crying and having a moment.
cove pulls away, takes your hands in his and even with glassy, red eyes he has a determined expression. goes on about how much he loves you, and how much he treasures you, and that he's going to do his best for you, and take care of everything.
his speech probably draws you back to tears, even brings him to tears but he keeps going because he needs to tell you all this!!
"y/n... i want to marry you, i want us to be a family.. i know i don't have a ring and this isn't very romantic but.. will you marry me?"
doesn't matter if you say yes right away or if you ask him if he's sure he wants to get married, he reassures you he's not just doing this because he thinks it is what you and/or your or his family would want.
he wants to marry you anyway, why wait?
now about telling your parents.
regardless of if you have cove there while you tell them, or you do it alone, lets say cove finds out what your mom said about him being a bad influence.
i also think your moms are a bit icy with cove too, so even if he has to force out all the details of your conversation, he already knows your moms aren't happy
but to know your mom thought, maybe even thinks so still especially with the news, that he was/is a bad influence on you.
it makes him sad. because what if she, or even both your parents, thinks that cove is dragging your life down with marriage and a baby?
well, like i said in the first post, this totally opens up a new can of insecurities and doubts, and he kinda spirals into his own mind.
he even starts thinking about what if you regret marrying him, and/or having his baby. what if you decide you hate being a parent, or being married, or being a family all together?
what if this holds you back so much that you start to resent him. god he's so afraid of you resenting him.
and your moms being short with him doesn't make him feel better because now he just had a thought, what if your family hates him so much that they start talking to you about how much of a mess this is, and then you realize how they're right, and decide to leave him, or even worse, leave him and the baby?
it's all very irrational thoughts, and when he wakes up (after maybe 3 hours sleep), he realizes it is a bit.. ridiculous. just a bit. he knows you wouldn't abandon him so easily, and you certainly wouldn't be swayed by your family
but he also wouldn't blame you if you had, or have (now or in the future), any resentments. he just really wants it to work.
i think this is also the time when he realizes exactly how much his parents divorce fucked him up.
he very determined for you two to make it work as a family. not co-parents.
he wants to see his kid every day, he wants to see you everyday, he wants to celebrate every milestone as a family and he definitely doesn't want to fight with you like his parents did. and even more so doesn't want to make your kid hear or see all of it.
he doesn't wanna fight, and then you or him walk out for hours or days. doesn't wanna sleep in separate rooms, doesn't wanna sleep by the crib to comfort himself with the presence of his darling baby, or because you two fought, like his dad used to.
doesn't wanna have to explain why mommy* and daddy are fighting, or why they don't sleep in the same room, or why they aren't talking to each other, or why they aren't living together anymore.
definitely doesn't want to explain what divorce is and what that means for them.
(*just saying mommy for simplicity sake)
but he also doesn't want to repeat what his dad did, and take on all the burden by himself.
it's hard to find a balance too, because he's torn between working his ass off to provide and prove that he can do it, that you aren't making a mistake... and accepting help, or letting himself relax sometimes.
but i think wanting to be there for you during the pregnancy, forces him to leave his days more open.
of course he still works more than usual, but he also makes sure to carve out time to see you, and be there to comfort you or bring you food, flowers, or go on a date.
remember i mentioned therapy in the last post?
please encourage him to start it. because this is a very big transition in your lives, and you both want the best for yourselves and the baby, so lets do the work before they get here, okay?
fighting with his dad
now he definitely appreciates his parents concern, and their support and words of wisdom, all that stuff...
but when his dad says something like "you don't want to end up like me and your mom." or "you shouldn't mess up your future." or even if he insistently tells cove, "think about your future! y/n's future!"
cove gets upset, just because does that mean his dad is projecting onto him, and telling him that they're fucking up just like he and mom did? or is he telling him that he's dragging your future and his into the mud?
either way, that's what makes him say something mean, just like i said in the last post:
cove would probably end up saying something (a bit) hurtful like "i would never end up like you and mom." , "i would never marry MC if i didn't know it'd work. unlike some people, i'm not gonna make my kid listen to us argue and then try to play happy family." , or "trust me, my kid won't end up with a childhood like mine." / "trust me, my marriage won't end up like yours."
he definitely hangs up the call or walks away from his dad immediately afterward, shaking with anger and anxiety. he's so stressed. and he's worked up.
after the argument, there's only 2 places cove could go at this moment. to you, or to work.
and if he's at work, he's distracted, but tries to focus on his job. he's still mad at his dad, and he already feels like crying. he really didn't need his dad to doubt him.
he gets it. he gets it, he really really does. but he feels so fragile, that he'd really appreciate a little faith.
now if he's with you, which he'd probably run to you after work anyway just so he doesn't have to face his dad yet. he's like a big baby
he's holding you, arms around your waist and his head on your stomach or lap, or you're laying on your side and he has his hand on your belly, as if he's waiting for the baby to reach for his hand through your tummy.
when he tells you what happened, and why he's so somber, please run your fingers through his hair and just listen to him for a bit... eventually he'll start rambling about all the things he's been holding onto, including his fears about you resenting him
it'll probably be a long talk, but once you reassure him that you wanna make it work too, and that you know cove will be a good dad (and vice versa), and that your moms don't hate him, they're just... upset. and worked up about the turn of events.
and you talk about his dad too, and the argument, you both realize it comes from a place of concern.
he doesn't wanna see you two try to be a family and fail. he doesn't want you to make mistakes he did while raising cove...
conclusion, it's a very fruitful conversation. and cove goes back home, teary eyed and a bit like a lost puppy, and that night he doesn't find his dad waiting for him (cliff tries to work as late as possible, both because he wanted to give cove some space, but also because he has a bad habit of avoiding situations... so when he does get home, he spends the night in his room)
of course they can't avoid each other forever, and the next day cove actually makes the effort to find his dad during his lunch break to apologize.
he said something really hurtful, that i don't think cove could live with if he didn't apologize.
his dad definitely laughs when cove mentions that you said that cove should try therapy, and even if you don't say that his dad should consider it too, cove does say to his dad that a family therapist sounds like a good idea.

Hob is the loud alpha-male CEO of his company and Dream is his soft spoken executive assistant, so when hob announces that “he and Dream are having a baby” everyone assumes that Hob knocked Dream up!
The office sends around flowers and Dream accepts them with a quiet satisfaction and puts them in a vase on hob’s desk.
But weirdly hob isn’t being all that chivalrous. Even though he accompanies Dream to the doctor’s office every time, Dream’s the one opening the door for hob. And carrying his briefcase!
The office gossips are all grumbling about how hob is kind of a terrible, thoughtless baby daddy.
Until after a week away—a week Dream spent glaring at everyone who dared talk to him—hob returns to the office with swollen hoboobies and a cute little baby bump!
Turns out Dream’s the one who knocked hob up, peeling him out of his nice suits and railing him over his desk after hours. And he’s a very proud and chivalrous baby daddy.
He rubs hob’s shoulders and fucks him through the wild pregnancy hormones. And hob may be a busy ceo but if anyone dares schedule a meeting with hob after 3:30, when he should be lowering his stress level, no god will spare them Dream’s wrath.
Every time I see a mere mention of pregnant!Hob i go feral. I cannot be stopped. This scenario absolutely bounced around my brain like a pinball.
I'm just obsessed with the before/after situation in the office, from the point of view of those who work around Dream and Hob. Hob is a real man's man, always joking around, always one of the lads. He's loud and brash, and people either find him charming or irritating. He's the guy who WOULD knock up his PA and maybe be a jerk about it. It's all such a cliche it's almost boring.
And one morning there he is, buttons straining on his crisp white shirt, pressing his hands into his lower back and sighing deeply. He's wearing a bra. And he looks tired, but pretty much content. Especially when Dream comes over and offers him a sandwich and a kiss on the cheek. He also rests a proprietary hand on the baby bump. The office has gone completely silent as people stare, or text absent coworkers with the latest gossip.
The guys who used go joke around with Hob and who thought he was so "cool" don't know what to do with themselves. He's the boss, so they can't ignore him! But the dude is pregnant! What the actual fuck! The worst of it all is that Hob looks like an absolute snack as he waddles walks around the office. He's glowing, he's lush, he's fecund. He's still a badass CEO, maybe even more basass before because the hormones really get him raging sometimes. Dream is keeping strict tabs on his blood pressure.
What else is Dream doing? He's strolling around looking smug. He put that baby inside Hob, and he's never been more proud. And he's taking very very good care of both Hob and the baby. Even if that means running out of the office for weird fast food combinations when the pregnancy cravings start to hit.
Dream is also fucking Hob silly in as many places around the office as possible. They're hoping to do it in every single individual room, conference space and cubicle by the time Hob’s parental leave starts. They're almost halfway through already - no wonder Hob is pregnant. Hopefully the baby will never find out that they were conceived up against the water cooler, after office hours!

March 10, 2023
4 months pregnant
"They're here!" Joe yelled from the kitchen. You smiled from Joe's living room as you put your heels on. After sliding on your white heels, you jogged over to the front door and opened it, revealing Morgan and Logan Wilson, Holly and Joe Bachie, and Evan and Gracie McPherson.
"Hi!" you beamed, pulling Morgan into a hug first.
"Hey girl!" she squealed, tightly hugging you back. Well, hugging as much as much as your baby bump would let you. You've really popped the last couple of weeks. You and Morgan rocked back and forth for a couple seconds before pulling away. Her eyes lit up, "Oh my gosh, look at you!"
You blushed as you put your hands on your belly, cupping your bump and showing it off.
"Girl, you are glowing!" Holly grinned as she came up to wrap her arms around you. She squeezed you gently before both of you pulled away. You smiled, "Thank you. I do have that pregnancy glow now that the morning sickness has passed."
Morning sickness was no joke during this pregnancy. It left you feeling crappy and constantly exhausted. Thankfully, your morning sickness disappeared a couple weeks ago when you entered your second trimester. Entering your second trimester means you're already almost halfway through this pregnancy. It feels like just yesterday you found out you were pregnant.
You stepped aside in the entryway so that the group could enter the house. Logan came up to you, side hugging you as he said hello. "Hey stranger."
You smiled, hugging him back, "Hi Logan." Logan smirked, “So, where's the daddy?" You pointed into the kitchen, "He’s in there."
Logan, Joey, and Evan made their way into kitchen, with Evan and Joey each giving you a hug as they walked by. With the guys gone, it left you, Morgan, Holly, and Gracie in the entry way of Joe’s home. You hadn’t really talked to the girls since the season ended a couple months ago. You’ve avoided hanging out with them in order to conceal your pregnancy from the public. It’s not that you didn’t want anyone to know you were pregnant, you just didn’t want the news to come out that you were carrying the baby of Cincinnati’s beloved quarterback. Not yet at least. You and Joe would break the news to the public when you were ready.
Hell, you just told your families last week about the baby. Joe’s family reacted much better than yours, however, both your parents and Joe’s expressed their love and support for the both of you. You were a bit shocked at how well they took the news, considering you and Joe aren’t even together. Your parents were much more hesitant about the situation than Joes were. Robin was excited and gushed the whole night about how excited she was for another grandchild, while your parents grilled Joe with questions and what ifs the whole night.
Since you haven’t talked to the girls much since the season, you figured it would be good to catch up with them for a bit before all of the guests got to Joe’s. Today you were going to be finding out if the baby is a a boy or a girl. You didn’t want to do anything too big and over the top, but Holly and Morgan insisted that you at least have a party with teammates, friends and family that you wanted to invite. So that’s what you and Joe are doing. Your guests would be arriving very soon, which means your so close to finding out the gender of your baby.
“So girls,” you smiled, “if you want, we can get some drinks, food, and go catch up in the backyard." Gracie smiled in response, "I’d love that." The other girls nodded as happy smiles pulled at their lips. You led them into the kitchen where all of the boys were talking. As you all walked into the room, Logan and Evan wolf whistled as their wives walked into the room.
"Damn,” Logan smirked, “who's that beautiful lady in the blue dress?" Morgan shook her head, smiling bashfully as she blushed. She walked over to him and wrapped her arms around his torso, squeezing him gently as she looked out at the group from behind her husbands frame.
You smiled at the couple as you walked over to Joe. “Everything set up?” You asked as you leaned against the counter, a hand coming up to rest on your bump. Joe nodded as he looked down at you, “Yeah, girls got everything set up in here, and out there." he said, gesturing outside. Emma, Gracie, and Joes sister-in-law came over earlier in the day to set up the party for you.
You smiled, "Perfect. Thanks.” Joe hummed and smiled slightly as he looked at you. His eyes traveled from your eyes, down to your bump. I’m just a couple hours you’d know if you were having a son or a daughter.
“Well,” Holly spoke, “I cant wait to see outside.” Morgan nodded in agreement as you pushed yourself off of the counter and patted Joe on the chest. "Well, you boys have fun in here doing whatever the hell you're doing...the girls and I are going to go outside and catch up before everyone else gets here."
Joey saluted, "Will do Y/n. Don’t have too much fun without us." Holly giggled as she rubbed Joey’s back, “Oh god. Joey, you are going to be the death of me, I swear." She laughed, making Joey kiss her forehead, "Mmm, but you love me." Holly blushed, "That I do."
You smiled from afar as you grabbed some sparkling rosé (non-alcoholic, of course) and a pink cake pop from the table full of an assortment of appetizer foods and pink and blue cake pops. You began walking towards the backyard, the girls following behind you with their own glasses of rosé, plus a pink or blue cake pop or two.
As you went to open the sliding glass door, you heard Joe softly call out your name. You turned around and looked at him, slightly cocking your head to the side, "Yeah?" A smile pulled at his lips as he looked at you. "You look really pretty." he said, a slight blush rising to his cheeks as he spoke.
You were wearing a white, cami dress with a slit. The dress had pink flowers all over, and it hugged your baby bump and pregnancy curves perfectly. Your hair was loosely curled with the sides being pinned up with pink butterfly clips. You were convinced this baby was a girl, so of course you had to dress in pink.
You smiled sheepishly at Joe's compliment, "Thank you, Joe." He nodded, still smiling softly at you. His eyes locked on your belly for a moment before they snapped back up to meet yours. He hesitanlty turned back to the guys, who were talking about sports, like always. Joe didn't want to take his gaze off of you. He would look at you forever if he could. You walked out onto the patio, closing the door behind you once you were outside. The girls each gave you knowing smiles as they looked at you. They heard the entire exchange between you and Joe just now.
You and the girls made your way over to the lawn chairs that were on the patio, the four of you sitting down and getting comfortable. You sat your champagne flute on the table and leaned back in your chair, folding your hands in your lap and cupping your belly.
"So," Morgan smiled, "catch us up on everything since the last time we talked." She leaned forward in her chair, Holly and Gracie doing the same. The three of them eagerly waiting to hear what you had to say.
You let out a breath you didn't even realize you had been holding. There was a lot that you had to catch them up on...
"Well," you started pursing your lips, "we told Sam about the baby." you gestured to Morgan, "which, you were there for." She smiled sadly at you before asking, "Did he handle it any better after you left the bar?"
You wished you could say yes.
You shook your head. "No. He almost reacted worse." Holly frowned as she listened intently to what you had to say. "What did he say?" You wet your lips as you let a soft sigh escape your lips. Just thinking about the night you told Sam about the baby makes your blood pressure raise. "He was pissed. At me, at Joe, at the situation. He was just pissed at everything. He said that Joe wasn't going to stick around because there's nothing tying him down to me. Which, he's not wrong." You said with a shrug. It was true, there is nothing tying Joe down to you. He has the opportunity to leave you and this baby whenever he wants. You just hope he never does. But since your days at OSU, you don't have a ton of hope that Joe will stick around forever. He's left you once before. What's stopping him from doing it again?
You continued to tell Morgan, Holly, and Gracie about the screaming match that took place between Joe and Sam. You told them all about Joe revealing he broke your heart in college because Sam told him to, and how Joe said he would never leave your the baby because he loves you.
Which, is still something the two of you have yet to discuss. Too many secrets came out that night, and you didn't have the emotional capacity to discuss your feelings for Joe that night either. It's a conversation you know you need to have with Joe, by you've just decided that putting it off is the best thing to do for now. You could talk to Joe about the confession after you find out what his baby is.
Holly's mouth gaped open in shock as you finished telling them everything that's happened. "Wow." was all she said. Your lips formed a straight line as you just nodded.
"You poor thing," Gracie frowned, "that's a lot to handle. Especially for a pregnant woman." You let out a laugh, "Ha, tell me about it."
It was a lot to handle. Your emotions have been running wild these last couple of weeks. Half of it is from your hormones, but the other half definitely comes from all of the drama that's happening in your life right now. You just hope these issues get resolved quickly, you don't need anymore problems than you already have. Morgan stood up from her chair and walked over to yours. She leaned down and wrapped her arms around you. She squeezed you gently as she let her chin rest on your head.
"I know it's a lot, but," she pulled away and grabbed your hand, squeezing it gently as she looked between the three of you, "we all love you, we're here for you."
"And the baby," Holly chimed in with a sweet smile. Morgan chuckled, "Yes, and the baby." You smiled at your friend, standing up from your chair so you could give each of the girls a hug. You were so glad you had friends like them to be there for you during this pregnancy. You puled away from your hug with Gracie. She looked at you with a serious expression, "I promise we won't bring him up any more, but," she hesitated, "Is Sam coming today?"
You truly didn't know if your brother was going to be there or not. you know how angry he is with you and Joe right now, but It would break your heart if Sam didn't show up.
"I don't know." you answered truthfully, "we invited him, but we'll see if he shows or not." Morgan frowned, "It would be pretty shitty if he didn't show up. Even if he's upset with you and Joe right now, he should at least come to see if he's having a niece or nephew." Holly nodded in agreement, "Yeah. And who knows, maybe once he finds out if the baby is a boy or girl, he'll start to come around."
Holly was right. Maybe Sam will come around once he finds out if he's having a niece or nephew.
Morgan decided it was best to move the conversation away from Sam and your pregnancy. So instead, the four of you were laughing away at a story Morgan was telling you about how her and Logan got into a paint fight while they were painting their new house. As you were having fun catching up with your friends and laughing at Morgan's story, Joe came out to the backyard.
"Hey ladies,” he said as he walked up behind you, “sorry to disturb the fun, but there's more people here, Y/n."
You craned your neck up at him and smiled, "Okay. Tell 'em I’ll be there in a second." Joe nodded and walked back to head inside. "Well girls,” you said as you stood from your chair, “it was great catching up with you. I’ll see you in a little bit."
They nodded as they stood from their chairs with you, “Okay, it was so good catching up with you!" Morgan beamed as she hugged you. Holly smiled, and walked over to you. She hugged you once again. "I’m gonna go find Joey, see you in a bit.”
As you all made your way back into the house, the girls went back to their men and got some more snacks. While you and Joe greeted friends and family as they arrived at the house. Eventually, everyone had found their way outside. You and Joe had made sure to talk to all the groups of people that came to the gender reveal, before meeting up with your parents, together. You didn’t need your dad grilling Joe with tough questions anymore without you being present. You and Joe had invited a lot of his teammates, knowing it was best to invite them—even if half of them didn’t show. You knew Tee, Ja’Marr, Logan, and Evan would show, but you didn't expect to see Tyler Boyd, Trey Hendrickson, Jessie Bates, and even Zac Taylor. You were so happy to see that they showed up to share this special day with you and Joe.
As you were walking around the backyard and thanking everyone for coming, you saw Zac looking at one of the tables Gracie had set out in the backyard, with blue and pink balloons and all sorts of baby things scattered all over it. You walked over to him, smiling softly as you got closer to the head coach. "Hey Zac.”
He turned around, his eyes lit up when he saw you. "Hey, Y/n! How you been?"He pulled you into a hug. "Decent,” you said, with a slight shrug, “how about you?" He pulled away from you, nodding as he said, “Can’t complain, can't complain.“ Zac gestured to the little signs by the table, “These are adorable by the way.”
You smiled, "Thanks. Gracie thought it would be cute to incorporate football because, you know..." You trailed off, your eyes glancing over at Joe who was talking to his high school friends just a few feet away from you and Zac.
"So you and Joe huh?" he smirked, crossing his arms over his chest as he looked over at his quarterback. You blushed as you looked at Joe. The shade of red gracing your cheeks darkened as Joe made eye contact with you. You smiled slightly as him before looking back at Zac. “Heh”, you laughed lightly, “yeah..."
You were unsure how to respond to Zac’s teasing question. The topic of you and Joe being together was still something you had yet to discuss with anyone, even Joe. Zac put a hand on your shoulder, giving it a squeeze as he spoke reassuringly, “Hey, I support it one hundred percent. Joe is a great guy. You two are perfect for each other, and I know you'll be amazing parents."
You smiled sincerely at the head coach, "Thank you coach, that really means a lot." Zac smiled and grabbed a glass of champagne from the table, "Of course, I mean it. Take care sweetheart, alright?“ He said softly, kissing your cheek. You nodded, “I will. Zac smiled, "Good. Congratulations to you and Joe." You thanked Zac as he walked away from you, leaving you alone at the table. You stood there for a moment thinking about what Zac said to you: You two are perfect for eachother. There was a time years ago where you truly believed that. You don’t want to admit it, but deep down you still believe that statement.
After talking to Zac, you decided to join Joe so you could talk to each others parents. After Joe was done catching up with some of his high school buddies, he moved on to talk to his mom. Once you got close enough, you reached out and touched Joe’s shoulder. You could feel him tense up ag the contact. He turned around and immediately relaxed as he noticed it was you. He smiled softly at you as you stood next to him.
Robin gasped as she looked at you, “Honey you look beautiful!” You smiled and pulled her into a hug, “Thank you. It’s so good to see you.” She rubbed your back and squeezed you gently, “It’s good to see you too. How are you feeling?” You pulled away and put your hands on your belly as you spoke, “Much better. Little one isn’t making me so sick anymore.” She smiled, “That’s good,” she pointed at Joe, “this one gave me awful morning sickness.” Joe chuckled as he moved a hand to place on the middle of your bump, “Like father like son.” He smirked as he looked down at you. You just shook your head as you kept eye contact with Robin. Joe has been connived this whole pregnancy that you’re having a boy. Joe took his hand off your abdomen and chuckled as his mom gave him a knowing smile. She lifted her hand from her hip and let it hover over your belly, “May I?” she asked. You nodded, giving Joe’s mom a sweet smile. She smiled and placed her hand gently on your belly. She gushed as her thumb stroked over one of the flower patterns. “This is so exciting.” Joe’s mom was so excited about this baby, and you thought it was the sweetest thing. She pulled her hand away as her eyes welled with tears, “I am just so happy for you both. I can't wait to meet Baby Burrow." You and Joe glanced at eachother as his mouth gaped open, "Oh-“ he hesitated, “mom, no. We uh, we haven't decided on a last name for the baby."
That was another topic to add the list of things you had to talk to Joe about…
Joe’s dad furrowed his brows in confusion, "Well why not? The baby is a Burrow afterall." Joe shrugged at his dads words, “Yeah, but it's also a Hubbard too." Just hearing your last name being mentioned made you tense. All you could think about was how your brother reacted to the news.
So…”Jimmy trailed off. "are you going to hyphenate the name? Personally, I think you should just use Joe’s last name." You hesitated, “Yeah, I-.” Joe cut you off with a firm tone in his voice, “Dad, I appreciate the help. I do, but Y/n and I will decide later, when the due date is closer.”
You let out a sigh of relief. Silently thanking Joe in your head for handling the situation.
Jimmy sighed, giving his son a tight lipped smile, “Well Joe, just know whatever you two decide on, your mom and I support you." Joe smiled and nodded, "Thanks, dad." Robin grimaced slightly and broke the tension by hugging you again, "Well, we’ll let you two go and talk to some other guests. I know there’s lots of people waiting to talk to you two.” she pulled away and smiled, “Y/n, it was wonderful to see you again, sweetie."
You smiled, "It was so good to see you Robin.Jimmy have you a side hug as Robin hugged Joe, whispering something in his ear that made him smile widely. He pulled away from his mom and looked at you as he said, “I know, I really do.”
You couldn’t help but wonder what she said to Joe that made him so happy. After you finished talking to Joe’s parents, you decided to talk to your own. The conversation with them was similar to the one you had with Joe’s parents. Both of them were still a little weary about the whole situation, but they were so excited to find out what their grandchild was going to be. You hugged both of your parents before you and Joe started to make your way over to another table that Gracie had set up in the backyard. As you were walking with Joe, you looked around the backyard and made note of everyone that was a present. A frown made its way onto your face as you realized Sam wasn’t there. You hoped he’d get over himself and suck it up for just a couple hours, but your hopes were crushed. Your brother wasn’t going to come. Joe glanced down at you, noticing the frown that was on your face as you looked around the backyard of his home. He stopped walking, and reached out to place a hand on your shoulder, “You alright?”You tore your eyes away from the guests and looked into Joe’s blues. You nodded, smiling sadly, “Yeah. It’s just, Sam’s not here…”
Joes expression matched yours. Just like you, he too hoped that Sam would look past his anger with you guys, and show up to support you and find out the gender of your baby. "I know." Joe said, his voice just above a whisper. "It's my fault." Your face dropped as you looked at Joe, a hurt expression on your face. "Don't say that, it's not your fault. My brother's just a dick when it comes to you and I being together. He needs to get over himself." Joe chuckled softly, "That he is. I'm sorry." Joe said, genuinely. You furrowed your eyebrows, "What for?" Joe sighed, gulping as he said, "Everything. Leaving you behind in Ohio, making your brother miss this, it's all my fault." His tone somber as he finished. You shook your head and grabbed Joe's hand. "Look at me." Joe let his blue eyes stare into yours, "None of this is your fault. If anyone's fault, it's my brothers." Joe nodded, "I guess. I do need to talk to you though," he sighed, "it's important."
You knew there were two things on Joe's mind right now that he needed to discuss with you. You nodded, smiling softly at him, "Yeah, we'll talk. But not here." A small smile pulled at your lips, "Lets focus on finding out what this baby is first so we can stop calling them an 'it'." Joe chuckled in amusement, nodding in agreement. With that, the two of you exchanged one last smile as you walked over to the table where all of the confetti poppers were placed. Gracie and joe's sister-in-law created a "playbook" for a fun little activity before the baby's gender was revealed to everybody in attended. Joe grabbed the "playbook" that had a blue and pink helmet on each side. With th playbook in hand, the two of you began to walk around again to take guesses from the groups of people. Finding out, were they team pink or team blue?
~time skip~
"Ja’Marr, my guy." Joe said walking up to where Ja’Marr was standing. You and Joe were asking everyone attending the gender reveal, to predict what they think the baby’s gender is. So far, you’ve gotten five votes for a girl(coming from you, your mom, Jimmy, Tee, and Tyler), and three votes for a boy (coming from Joe, your dad, and Robin).
"What do you think, are you team pink or team blue?" You asked, holding up the “playbook” and shaking it. Ja’Marr smiled, "Team pink for sure. I get girl dad vibes from Joe.” You smiled as you looked up at Joe, “I think so too.”
Joe wrote down Ja’Marrs guess as he hugged each of you and gave his congratulations. As Ja’Marr was walking away, you saw Holly, Joey, Morgan, and Logan laughing together. You smiled and quickly made your way over to them, with Joe following behind you.
Holly beamed as she saw you and Joe, “Hey guys!" Joey smirked beside her, “Placing bets now are we?" You smiled, chuckling softly, “Yup. So, are we team pink or blue?" You asked, twirling the pen in your hand.
You couldn’t wait to hear your friends guesses.
Morgan smiled warmly, "Blue. I have a feeling it's a boy."
"Me too." Joe mouthed as he tallied another vote for 'team blue'. You turned to Logan, “What about you?”
He hummed, thinking about what his prediction was. “I think I’m going to have to go with pink because the Hubbard family has too many boys."
"Same!“ Holly, nodded, “mark me down for pink too."
You marked down two talley marks for 'team pink', turning to Joey and waiting for his answer.
"This is a tough decision,” he chuckled, crossing his arms. “I look at Joe and I get girl dad vibes, but Y/n, you give off major boy mom vibes. But i’m so torn because there is no way Burrow is having a boy. I just can't see it."
Joe frowned and you laughed, "why not?"
Joey shrugged, "I just don't get that vibe, but I’m going with my gut…I think it’s a boy.” Joe high-fived the linebacker as you put a tally down on the clipboard.
"Gotta carry on that JB9 legacy." Loagn said, elbowing Joe. You shook your head, laughing. "No, no. You’ll see, this baby is definitely a girl.”
You’d find out in just a few moments if you were right or not. You and Joe had just a few more people to ask for their guesses on what the baby growing in your belly is. After you finished asking your friends, you moved on to Coach Taylor, which he voted that the baby was a girl. After talking to Zac for a bit, you moved on to your last group. Their votes were split half and half. As you asked the guests for their predictions, you couldn’t help but feel disappointed that Sam never showed up. He’s such an asshole. Cant even get over his problems with Joe for just a couple hours to come support his little sister. What a prick. You thought to yourself as you huffed out a sigh. You would have no problem confronting him about this later…
"Hey everyone!" Gracie yelled from the patio of Joe's backyard. her voice ringing out in the backyard caused you to direct your attention to her as she spoke, "If I could get everyone's attention, it's time for the big reveal! So, if you all could, let's give a round of applause for the parents, Joe and Y/n!"
You knew Joe hated being in the spotlight like this, but the two of you wore large grins as you walked up to the patio where the Gracie held the confetti poppers. Applause and whistles broke out in the lawn as the two of you made your way over to Gracie. Once you and Joe got to where you were supposed to stand, Gracie handed each of you a confetti popper. You looked up at Joe, a smile pulling at your lips as you noticed his hands shaking slightly in anticipation as he held the popper in his hand. He brought a hand up to adjust his Cartiers, flashing you a nervous smile before he looked out at the guests standing around in the backyard.
"So, before we get to the moment we have all been waiting for," Gracie said with a sweet smile, "let's get some final results from the parents on what you all think the baby's gender is!"
You looked up at Joe, smiling before turning to the crowd, "So for team pink, we had a total of sixteen votes." Joe cleared his throat, "And for team blue, we have a total of ten." You laughed lightly, "Well, the obvious winner here is team pink."
A few shouts and cheers were heard from the crowd of yours and Joe's family and friends. Even though you and a majority of your guests thought this baby was a girl, you and Joe didn't care what you were having. As long as the baby is healthy, you'll both be happy.
"Alright guys, you ready?" Gracie asked you and Joe. Joe shrugged, a smirk on his face as he said, "I don't think I have much of a choice." You let out a laugh in agreement.
You felt yourself growing nervous, yet so excited at the same time as the ancipatoon grew. The moment you've been waiting for since you found out you were pregnant was just moments away from happening. In just moments, you'll find out if you'll be having a son or daughter.
Gracie, with the help of Joe's sister-in-law, began passing a few more confetti poppers out amongst the crowd of your family and friends. Once the majority of people had poppers in their hands, you were finally ready to reveal the gender of your baby. You and Joe stood next to each other, your hands shaking, but wide grins were etched on your faces. You glanced up at him, "You ready?" He nodded, "Hell yeah." The two of you took your eyes off of each other and turned back to the crowd in the backyard.
"On the count of three!" you shouted, fixing your grip on the popper. your heart was racing as the countdown began. Joe's feeling the same way.
"One!"..."Two!"..."Three!"
You and Joe twisted the poppers in your hands. You were suddenly surround by blue confetti. You and Joe are having a baby boy.
"YESSSS!!!!" Joe cheered, throwing his hands up in the air in triumph. His fatherly instincts were indeed correct all along. He was having a son. Your hands flew to your mouth in shock. You were so convince you were having a girl, but you are so excited to have a baby boy. You started laughing from excitement and shock. Joe brought his hands down, dropping the confetti popper. He turned to you and wrapped you up in a tight embrace, rocking back and forth with you. "We're having a baby boy." he said, his voice shaky and soft as he spoke into your hair. You let out the breath you had been holding, "I know, I'm so happy." You said, your tone genuine and filled with emotion.
You and Joe pulled away from each other and turned to everyone, bright smiles on both of your faces. All of your family and friends were cheering, whistling, smiling, and some were even crying. Every body there was just so happy for you and Joe. You heard sniffling beside you, causing you to glance up at Joe. You noticed him take his Cartiers off and wipe his eyes. You pushed your bottom lip out and laughed lightly, the sound of your laughter making Joe look down at you. Tears began spilling out of your own eyes, too, as he looked at you with his piercing blue eyes, He laughed, tearily. "I'm sorry, I'm just so happy right now. I-we, are going to have a son, Y/n." You wiped a tear off your cheek as you sniffled. "Yeah," you said, a wide grin growing on your face, "we are."
You were feeling a mixture of emotions right now, but you were so overwhelmed with joy and happiness. Finding out that you and Joe were going to have a baby boy in just five short months made this pregnancy feel even more real. You were so excited to meet your sweet, baby boy.
As you and Joe shared an emotional moment, you felt a pair of arms wrap around you. You looked over and saw Holly, who was grinning excitedly. You hugged her back, both of you jumping up and down.
"Ahhh, I'm getting a nephew!" she cheered, making you laugh happily. You felt two more bodies join the hug. You smiled even wider, knowing it was Morgan and Gracie. "Y/n, I'm so happy I could cry!" Morgan shrieked. Gracie laughed and nodded in agreement, "Me too!"
"Be careful ladies," Joe chuckled beside you, "you don't want to suffocate the little guy." The girls pulled away from you and rolled their eyes at Joe. Holly shook her head, and gave you one last squeeze before she and the others gave you some space to talk to your families.
"I'm getting a grandson!" you heard Robin cheer as she got closer to you and Joe. Once she was close enough, she wrapped her arms around both you and Joe, pulling you in to a comforting embrace. "You excited mom?" Joe asked, chuckling in amusement at his mothers reaction. Jimmy chuckled from beside Robin. "I think excited is an understatement." Robin pulled away from you and Joe, tears pooling in her eyes as she just looked at the two of you with a genuine smile. Every one in attendance came up to you and Joe, congratulating the two of you on the pregnancy and your little boy. They took pictures with you, told stories, and gave you parenting advice. While it was a bit overwhelming and a tad emotional, you were so thankful for everyone that came today. Those that attended had nothing but love and support for you and Joe through this whole thing.
As you and Joe stood around, still beaming over the reveal of your baby’s gender, Zac came up to where the two of you were standing. He shook Joe’s hand, and clapped his back, pulling his quarterback in for a hug. Joe doing the same.
"Guess my call was wrong huh?" Zac chuckled, referring to his guess that the baby was a girl. You laughed lightly, nodding, "Yes, yes it was."
Zac smiled warmly at you and Joe. He seemed genuinely happy. It wasn't a rare occurrence for him to smile, not at all, but it was a very comforting gesture to see the usual hard gaze of Zacs, break out into a wide grin when he wasn't stressed over coaching.
"Congratulations again you two.” he nodded, “You are going to be the most amazing parents to this little boy." You smiled and moved forward to hug Zac. You wrapped your arms around him tightly. "Thank you, Zac. For everything...I, we, appreciate it." you squeezed Zac slightly, him doing the same to you.
He pulled away from you and rested his hand on your shoulder. "Of course. If you," he looked between you and Joe, “if either of you need anything, please don't hesitate to reach out to me or Sarah. We will gladly help in any way we can."
Joe grinned at his coach, the two of you were so thankful for him and all that he’s done. “Thanks coach, that really means a lot." He nodded, “Of course. I’m going to head out, it was a fun day. Congrats again.” You and Joe both smiled and waved goodbye the the head coach. It was good to have people like Zac Taylor around.
As the rest of the afternoon went on into the evening, you cherished every moment you could with all of yours and Joe's family and friends. Today was special in so many different ways. From seeing your families, to catching up with your best friends and eating delicious food while having so many laughs. But, the best moment of all from today was finding out that your baby is a boy. Today was a day you truly never want to forget--even if your dick older brother Sam refused to show up.
After all of your friends and family left Joe's house, the two of you sat in his backyard, watching the Cincinnati sunset from Joe's patio. Music was playing softly in the background as you sat in silence with each other, watching the beautiful sunset. As the sun began to set, Crash Into Me by Dave Matthews Band began playing. Joe glanced at you before standing up from his chair. He fiddled with his fingers as he stood in front of you. He looked like a nervous high school boy trying to ask his crush to dance with him.
"You wanna dance?" he asked softly, his eyes looking extremely blue from the golden light shining into them from the sunset. You looked up at Joe through your lashes, a blush making its way onto your cheeks as you nodded. Joe couldn't help but smile as he reached out for your hand. He grabbed your smaller hand, gently pulling you up from your chair. Joe turned the music up just a little bit before he places his hands on your waist. You smiled softly, bringing your arms up to his neck and letting them drop over his shoulders. You looked up at Joe, smiling lovingly at him. Joe did the same, a slight twinkle in his eye as he did so. The two of you began swaying to the music.
Lost for you I'm so lost for you
You come crash into me
And I come into you
You aren't sure what came over you, but as you swayed along to the music and looked intensely into Joe's beautiful baby blues, you laid your head on his chest. You felt Joe's body tense up momentarily, but it soon relaxed and his grip on your waist tightened. So many unspoken feelings were being shared between the two of you just through this moment.
Touch your lips just so I know
In your eyes, love, it glows so
I'm bare boned and crazy for you
"Y/n..." Joe trailed off softly. You hummed against his chest, not wanting to lift your head from his sternum, "I didn’t want to leave you all those years ago,” he said softly as he sucked in a breath, “I meant what I said a few weeks ago. I really do love you."
When I'm holding you so girl
Close to me
Oh and you come crash into me, baby
Your heart swelled at his confession. You've been waiting to hear those words since knowing Joe as Ohio State. Tears welled up in your eyes at his confession. You had been avoiding this conversation ever since you told Sam about the baby a few weeks ago. You avoided it because you were still unsure about your feelings for Joe. You wanted to love him, well you do love him, but you can't help but feel weary. Joe's left you behind before. You know you still need to have a proper conversation about the situation with Joe leaving you at OSU. But, the heart wants what it wants...
As you slowly lifted your head from his chest, Joe leaned down and captured your lips in a sweet kiss. You kissed back, grabbing both sides of his cheeks. The butterflies swarmed in your tummy as you kissed Joe. Being with Joe like you are right now felt so right. It brought you back to your days at OSU before he left for LSU. Just the two of you together, in love, without a care in the world. It felt refreshing to feel that feeling again.
Joe smiled as he pulled away from you. You blushed and wrapped your arms around him once more. You looked up into those blue eyes you found yourself getting lost in every time you looked into them. Even though you were still a little hesitant, you knew this was the right thing. For you, for Joe, and for your son.
Your was voice quiet, yet sincere as you said those three words Joe has waited forever to hear, "I love you, Joe."

JJ's got a little family and they're just having a day on the town. CWs:Mean old ladies, protective dad jj, mom reader, preschooler daughter, taking a pregnancy test, implied smut, I think he calls her momma once or twice, no grammar, I avoided y/n but I don't know if I did it well; let me know if I missed anything Wc:3.9k
Well this was an incredibly self indulgent fic because the scenario was brewing in my lil noggin for at least two months and then I was like well it's doing no good in there and the only reason I even watched obx was for this man, and this man alone. And so here you go. I haven't read this since I wrote it I just wanted to post something before I start posting my long fic.
"Babe, are you even listening?" JJ finally caught his wife's attention from the ring on her left hand.
"Yes, but look." She held her hand up to let the diamond catch the light, sending rainbows flying across the ceiling of the car as she shifted it back and forth. "It's so shiny."
"I know, love." He took her hand and kissed her fingers. "That's why I picked it, but enough of that we have things to do! A list to check off! You ready Tiny?" He called to the back seat.
"Mhm, all ready," his 4 year old daughter, Iris, giggled from the back seat.
"Let's go then. I'll get her, you get a cart, ok?"
"Sounds good to me," JJ answered, then left on his assigned mission with a salute.
Iris laughed with her mom, "Daddy's so silly."
"Yes he is baby, you have no idea." She finally got all the clips undone just as JJ was bringing the cart over, so all she had to do was lift her up and into the cart.
"Weeeee," Iris cheered as she landed in the seat. "Again, again."
"We can do it again when we get back, we gotta get the stuff first, silly." JJ made a face at her while the three of them walked into the store.
He went through all the pockets in his shorts until he found the list. "Divide and conquer?" he suggested
"Absolutely not, I'm not leaving you two alone together and I'm definitely not letting you off on your own. Let's go." She led them down the produce aisle and took the list from JJ. "You got a pen?"
JJ handed her one and she crossed the first item off the list putting a bag of grapes in the cart. Iris made grabby hands towards it and she gave in, setting the bag in her lap.
***
Halfway down the list and a third of the way through the store JJ and Iris started tossing grapes in each other's mouths.
"You want one, baby?" He asked, offering her a grape while she scanned the shelves for the right brand of flour.
"No, I'm ok." She looked around like she was trying to remember something. "Ummm, I'm gonna go grab something. I forgot it when we were over there 'cause it's not on the list. I'll be right back. Don't eat them all!" She pecked JJ on the cheek before disappearing down the aisle.
Iris crossed her arms on the handle bar and laid her forehead on it, "I'm booored."
"Me too but we gotta stay here till your mama gets back, ok kid?" He copied her posture and tilted his head so he could look at her better. She had his hair and eyes but besides that she looked exactly like her mother.
"Fine," she groaned and he offered his fist out for her.
"Ready?" he asked and she nodded.
"Rock, paper, scissors," they both said at the same time. JJ put up scissors and she put up rocks. "Awww you got me, again?"
"Yeah." They played for a few more rounds until JJ saw his wife coming back down the aisle with her hands behind her back. She was walking quickly with her hair swishing behind her. He furrowed his eyebrows in confusion at what she could be rushing from. He worried something had happened in the 5 minutes she was away.
She threw the small boxes in the cart behind the other bags and nodded her head behind her at an old lady giving them dirty looks. "Don't say anything, just keep walking ok?" she whispered to him while trying to act natural. She wasn't quiet enough because Iris still heard and asked what was wrong. "Nothing baby, don't worry about it." She stroked her daughter's golden hair back from her face and kissed her forehead, taking control of the cart. JJ put a comforting hand on her back as they passed the old lady still giving them the stink eye.
She said something under her breath. "Excuse me?" JJ said defensively.
"I just think irresponsible children like you can't make responsible parents."
"And what makes you say that?" He put his hands on his hips and stared the old woman down.
"JJ please." She rubbed her thumb over Iris's hand.
"No, I'd like to know, what makes you think my wife and I are irresponsible parents?"
She squared up to him, "You're far too young, too young to be married. You don't know what real life is yet how can you raise a child?"
"And you know all this after what? Following my wife for however many aisles?!" Iris took the phone with her favorite game offered to her, her mother knowing JJ wouldn't let up once he started.
"From the way she looked at the ! I knew she was unfit just after one look!" JJ looked back at his wife with a look of surprised confusion. She only replied with a shrug and nodded from Iris to the end of the aisle. He nodded yes back and she took the cart back up the aisle, not wanting to involve her daughter in this argument. She stopped a quarter of the way up when the man that was with the old woman before walked down to where she and JJ were arguing. "Just look at that outfit what kind of mother would walk around like that?!" The 'unfit' mother in question looked at her outfit, cutoff shorts of a reasonable length and one of JJ's faded old shirts cut into a crop top, and cocked an eyebrow. Not her most fashionable look but she just thought she was going to the grocery store with her family, not being ambushed by an impromptu episode of What Not to Wear. "Then I come here and find her already with a child. And you? So disrespectful!"
The man walked past their cart and nodded to Iris and her mother, before stopping in front of the woman and JJ. He was taller than JJ and much bigger. Despite his overbearing stature he put a hand on the woman's arm and sternly said, "Let's go, leave this nice family alone."
"No! I was just doing my shopping when I saw this- this hussy walk past." JJ's nostrils flared once and he dug his nails into his palms. The other man put a hand on her shoulder and stopped her right there.
"What is wrong with you? What have these people ever done to you to speak to her that way?"
She sputtered for an answer and JJ just shook his head and said, "It doesn't matter. Never speak to any one like that again, especially my wife." He turned back to his family and he took his wife's hand. "Let's go momma."
She blushed hard, "What did I say about calling me that when we're out?" she said with a glare.
"Nothing? I always call you that when Tiny's around." He shrugged, not knowing what she was referring to.
"Not that, you know how I feel when you call me your wife."
He finally understood her message. "Oh, but you are my wife, I just want everyone to know it." He kissed her jaw before turning to the freezers filled with ice cream. He noticed she went right for the ice cream she ate nonstop just under five years ago. "Hm, haven't had that one in a while." She shrugged with a nod. "You needa tell me something?"
She looked at him and he half expected her to look like a deer in headlights but she just calmly smiled. "When we get home."
"She's getting tired, why don't you take her to the car and I'll finish here?" She handed the empty bag of grapes to the cashier and quickly explained they ate them all but she's not going to leave without paying. There was still a bit in the cart, including the second bag of grapes.
"Are you sure? We can stay and help."
"Jay, she's falling asleep. I'll be fine, you go ahead."
"I don't know, that cart looks pretty heavy." He put his hands in his pockets and rocked up on his feet. Her only answer was to raise her eyebrows.
"You're a mess," She kissed Iris's head, "You're gonna go to the car with daddy, baby ok?"
Iris nodded a little and when JJ picked her up she whispered the tiredest little "weeee" she could muster.
She and the cashier both smiled at the little girl half way asleep in her father's arms.
He put her down in her car seat then went to the trunk to look for a blanket when he heard a painfully nasal voice behind him. He tried his best to ignore it and give Iris her blanket even though a part of him was just itching to ask her who she thinks she is that she can speak to his wife that way. He brushed Iris's hair out of her face and made sure her blanket was tucked in. He shut the door and walked just ahead of the car to see if his wife made it out of the store yet.
2 seconds later she stepped out with the cart full of brown paper bags. He watched her look both ways, and the way her hair moved with her long strides and the soft breeze. He was too focused on her to notice the old woman make her way over and intercept the cart on his way over to her.
"My son finally left so I can say whatever I want now! You aren't fit to be a mother at your age! Look at what you're feeding your poor daughter! You children don't understand how to properly raise children. Letting her pick out everything she wants, shoving the phone in her face as soon as it gets too hard. I bet you're some of those "gentle parents" too, aren't you?" The young woman just looked bored out of her mind, which looking back probably only encouraged the old woman.
JJ was worried he'd have to intervene but he didn't want to leave their daughter alone in the car, so he stood at the car but out far enough so he could watch. He knew how she gets with confrontation like this, especially with getting yelled at and strangers. But she held her own.
"Is that all, I'd really like to just get home with my family if you don't mind." She kept eye contact and spoke calmly. "I honestly don't know what you think gives you the right to yell at me and my husband, especially right in front of our daughter, when you've only see us do what? Make her a respectful, happy kid? Buy some lube? Swear? Fuckin' Christ lady leave me and my family alone." The old woman was obviously shell shocked so she just pushed the cart right past and started loading the trunk with JJ's help.
He noticed her shaky hands and unsteady breathing. "Hey, hey, hey, I got this, ok? You go wait with her inside ok?" He quickly wiped underneath her eyes and she nodded her head.
Once he finished and got into the drivers seat, she'd had a chance to calm down. "I'm so proud of you," when she finally looked at him he swiped the sparkles lining her water line away. "I love you, so much. Tiny loves you way more than I can even describe. You did so good baby, so good." He stroked the side of her head as he spoke and kissed her head, "You ready to go?"
She swallowed the shrinking lump in her throat, "Yeah," she breathed out with a nod.
***
They laughed the whole ride home but were careful not to wake Iris. JJ did whatever he could to brighten the mood and he wasn't sure if she was laughing at his dumb jokes to stroke his ego or fake-it-till-you-make-it, or she actually thought he was funny. Any way, it worked for him.
"Should I wake her up?" JJ asked.
"No, I'll just bring her in."
"No you will not!"
"What? Why?" She cocked an eyebrow at him.
"Because, I have a sneaking suspicion at what your little..." he wiggled his finger in the air. "surprise is, and so, I will be taking care of everything you will let me take care of." He said with a pointed finger wagging at her.
"You're ridiculous," she laughed while getting the smallest two bags and walking up to unlock the door so JJ could bring Iris in.
"But I'm right!"
"Shhhhhh," she giggled while setting the bags on the counter. "Maybe, maybe not. We shall see, very soon."
"How soon?"
"How soon can you take care of all the groceries?"
"So fuckin' soon." He kissed the side of her head before speed walking Iris into her room and tucking her in. He made sure all the curtains were all the way shut before he ran down the hall and out to the car, taking as many bags as he could carry at a time. She thought he was like the Flash with how fast he put everything away. When he put the last bottle in the door of the refrigerator and rushed to stand right in front of her.
"Is it soon yet?" He was excited as a little puppy and she nodded while her lips were still on her water bottle. He pulled it away and put it on the counter.
"What the fuck Jay?!" She stared at him wide eyed and he just looked right at her before walking down the hall.
"Chop chop!"
"You're the worst," she mumbled under her breath while grabbing the three rectangular boxes off the counter.
***
She set the timer on her phone and they both sat with their backs against the bathtub. She lazily slung her head to face him, he did the same.
"I'm not even sure, I just think maybe."
He grabbed her hand and rested them on the small, soft rug. "Whatever it says, I'll be happy. It doesn't have to happen right now, there's loooads of time. No matter what it says, I won't be dissapointed, ok?" He kissed the back of her hand still connected to his and she nodded.
They sat like that for a few more minutes until the timer went off. "Ready?" he asked when he set her phone back down.
"Mhm, I'll flip one, you flip the other and we both flip the last?"
"Mhm." They counted down together "3,2,1" clack.
Two lines.
Two lines.
Pregnant.
They both stared at each other for a few moments before he lifted her in a tight hug. She kicked her feet behind herself before wrapping her legs around his waist. They stayed like that for a few more minutes, just being near each other, feeling each other, breathing each other in.
"I want ice cream," she said through a wet whisper into his neck.
"Allow me, m'darlin'." He carried her into the kitchen while she giggled the whole way. He sat her on the counter top while he got the ice cream out for her.
"You're not gonna let me do anythin, are you?"
"No, I will not. For the next 9-odd months you won't have to lift a finger."
"But what if I want to?"
"As long as it's less than Tiny."
Her face dropped as she stuck the spoon back in the ice cream. "I can't hold my baby?" She pouted.
"She's gonna have to be promoted from baby." He laughed.
"But she's my baby."
"You'll have a new baby."
"Why can't they both be my babies?" She laid down on the counter, holding the ice cream on her stomach, savoring the final few weeks of not having a mound in the way.
"Hmm, I don't see why not."
"Yayyy." She smiled around the spoon.
"When can we tell her?" He sat with his chin laying on his arms next to her head.
"I think after the first scan and all that, so she can have a picture."
"Yay," he cheered and held his tongue out so she would give him some ice cream.
He gagged and ran to the sink to spit it out the second the spoon touched his tongue. She just shrugged and licked it off herself.
"I forgot how disgusting that is. How can you eat that?"
"I can't, unless I'm pregnant." She sat up on her elbows and set the ice cream down next to her. "You remember I tried it after Tiny was born and we had some left over and I almost threw up. Fuckin' revolting. I don't even know."
***
2 weeks later
"Hey Tiny! Where you at?" JJ yelled through the Chateau.
"Daddy!" Iris yelled back, running into the kitchen to meet her parents. Sarah and John B watched her but they spent most of the time outside since most of the interior was being renovated before the wedding.
Sarah walked inside and made her way over to the other young woman, "Sooo? How was it? Any fun and exciting news?"
"It went very very well, but unfortunately I am sworn to secrecy at the moment. At the request of JJ, he wants to wait until we're all together to avoid any favoritism."
""Cause you don't want it to go like last time?"
"Exactly, what a disaster that was." She slapped a hand over her mouth at what she just admitted and pushed Sarah into the other room. She shut the door and held Sarah by her shoulders. "You cannot tell anyone. JJ will have a fit," she whisper yelled.
"You have my word," Sarah crossed her heart and they pinky promised. "If I can have yours that I get exclusive godmother rights."
"I can't promise anything yet but I will see what I can do."
"How's the forecast look though?"
"I will say, pretty good, but you didn't hear it from me. And you cannot tell John B. JJ has to or we'll have to keep having more until he finally gets the chance. And I personally would like to keep it at a solid 2 because I don't think I could handle being outnumbered by more mini JJs."
***
When they finally got home they sat Iris down at the kitchen table and they sat across from her.
"We have some news for you, Tiny," JJ started.
"A surprise?" She stood on her chair.
"Yes baby, a surprise. But you have to sit down to get it." Her mom said, soft at first but the second in her sweet mom voice. Gentle but laced with authority, like hidden vegetables.
JJ pulled out the row of ultrasound pictures and slid them across the table to her.
"What is it?"
"What do you think it is?" She asked while JJ just watched his daughter try to piece everything together.
"A bean...in a dark room. A bean x-ray?"
"That's actually pretty close, but it's not quite an x-ray. It's an ultrasound, and that's what the doctor used to look in my belly."
"Why?"
"To look at that."
"What's that then?" She pointed to the little blob in the center.
They both looked at JJ so he could answer. He was caught a little off guard but composed himself quickly. "Uh it's a baby, or well it will be soon, eventually."
"You're having a baby?" She looked at her mother who was beaming back at her.
"Yeah."
"Where?" Not a very specific question but she's known her daughter long enough to know what she means so she pointed to her lower abdomen.
"Here, and this is where you used to be."
"Can I touch?" She nodded and Iris came over and stood between her legs. She lifted her mother's shirt and put her hand on her stomach.
"A little lower baby," She moved her hand down to the right spot. "Right there." She looked from her daughter back to JJ who was almost crying. She took his hand while their daughter spoke to the baby.
"Hi baby," she used the same tone her mother used with her. "I'm Iris, you're inside momma right now, that's why it's so dark. You're a little bean." She giggled but her head whipped around at the sound of JJ's sniffle. "Bye baby, I have to go talk to daddy now." She kissed the spot where her hand was and climbed up JJ's chair to hug him properly.
She was only 4 but she knew better than to ask why he was crying, her mom explained it once. Sometimes people just cry, there doesn't have to be a reason, but sometimes they feel so much it just overflows. She explained it with a glass of water after Iris had a bad day and had to get picked up early. She sat her on the counter and got a glass from the cabinet,  "Sometimes when we feel a lot of things, or a lot of one thing it's just too much and we cry to let it out." The water started spilling over the sides. "Then we feel better." She dumped out the extra and handed her the glass while whipping the glossy streaks off her blotchy face.
She was proud of her daughter and rubbed her back before clearing the table. When she finished she stood behind JJ and kissed the top of his head. "Let's go lay down baby."
"I'm not tired," he laughed while making fun of Iris a little.
"Then we'll watch a movie," She rubbed his shoulder and they all went into their room, the bed was big enough and Iris was small enough so they all fit comfortably. They turned on Iris's favorite movie and snuggled together with Iris laying on him and his wife's head on his chest, cuddled into his side. He had an arm around each of them and Iris dozed off quickly. He smiled down at both of them, so blissfully content at the life he built for himself he never even thought possible.
"My two best girls," he whispered and leaned down to kiss both of their heads.
"You're forgetting one." A voice groggily whispered into his chest.
"I thought you were sleeping and we don't know that yet."
"I was. And yes we do, it's definitely a girl. I feel it."
"You do?"
"You don't?" she asked cockily and he sat with it for a moment.
"I do," he whispered back and she giggled before burying herself deeper into him and the blankets.
"Goodnight, I love you, and our family, so much." She kissed him goodnight before adjusting the blankets over all three (four) of them.
"I love you, and Tiny, and Teeny Tiny, so much."

“We are assholes,” you said very bluntly as you entered his at-home studio. His head popped up from the stacked pages that held the possible lyrics for his next album. His eyebrows were knit together and his lips slightly parted. He wore big, framed glasses that made him irresistible. The optometrist had ordered them for him after you had shared that he held his phone too close to his face when reading texts.
“Christ, wha’ did we do?” He asked, clueless as to why you were making a big fuss. You had been going through so many changes not only physically, but emotionally too. You just prayed and thanked God that Harry was known for his never-ending patience.
“We haven’t told anyone” You through your body on the same couch that he was sitting just a few inches away from him. “At least not anyone close to us” You added, blocking, and throwing your phone on the cushion beside you. It was cold in the basement, so you threw on the first blanket you saw.
“S’not true. We told our parents” He scratched the beard that he had been growing since the tour had ended. “It’s too early anyway” He dropped the pencil and sat back. He was now clearly invested and entertained by the conversation.
“It’s been four months” You giggled at his awful sense of time. “We are almost halfway there”
“I think we should pull a whole Kardashian situation” He shrugged, as he shifted his body towards you and grabbed your ankle from under the blankets. Harry referred to how all the members of the Kardashian clan always hid their pregnancies until the child had been born.
“All of their friends always know that they're pregnant” You laughed as he ticked your foot after taking off the dinosaur-themed sock. You grabbed a pillow and chucked it at him but missed.
“I am trying to be a nice husband and give you a foot massage and not only you are insulting me but throwing pillows at me!” He gasped with a big smile threatening to give him away.
“Sorry. I love you” You smiled, nudging him gently with your foot, so he would continue.
“You are lucky that you are cute and that you are pregnant with my baby” he mumbled kissing the inside of your ankle before starting to massage the bottom of your foot. “I want to keep you both save and once it’s out there; I can't do much”.
You had been pregnant before. It had been before Love on Tour began. Unfortunately, you had lost the baby. The emotional pain had been unmeasurable. You cried every day and Harry isolated himself from the world. None of you spoke a word about it those first few weeks. That all ended when both of your mothers turned up at the front door. They dug both of you out of depression and pushed you to keep going.
“Just think how Jeff, James, Mitch, and Sarah are going to feel when they find out that we kept them in the dark because we didn’t trust them enough” You argued, “our friends deserve to know”.
“I guess you are right,” Harry said after a few minutes of silence, “But that’s it. We are still not telling the rest of the world until you give birth” it was a compromise and if you had learned something about being in a relationship for so long was to always find the middle ground.
“You got yourself a deal” You winked as he moved to the other foot. “We also must choose names” Harry groaned and threw his head back. “Just for a few minutes”. You had decided not to find out the sex of the baby until the birth which meant you needed at least two names. It always ended with both of you being over saturated and hating every single name in the books. It drove Harry nuts, but he also didn’t want to produce a weird name that made him stand out more. Neither of you wanted to give him an incredibly unique name. He or she was already going to have enough of being Harry Styles and Y/N Y/L/N daughter or son… CONTINUED ON PATREON

What about a Carina DeLuca x female!reader where they get married? Maybe Y/n could be a trauma/general surgeon and you can add a flashback when they meet at work and operate on someone and their eyes meet during the surgery and they're both instantly attracted to each other. Then fast forward to the day before the wedding and the same situation, they're operating and also talk about their wedding.
The wedding happens and they celebrate the night in their hotel room
❛ 𝑭𝒐𝒓𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒂𝒏𝒅 𝑨𝒍𝒘𝒂𝒚𝒔 ❜
𝙋𝙖𝙧𝙞𝙣𝙜: Carina DeLuca x f!reader ♡
𝘼/𝙣: Heyy hope you like! Kinda happy I posted this not after so long ahah
Tumblr media
It was all in 24 hours and you could already feel all your body shake in happiness and excitement. If you think that tomorrow you would have got married it still felt so surreal. And with an amazing woman, Carina DeLuca.
Right now you were still at the hospital, a trauma had just arrived, so you had put all your feelings aside and do what you could do best, saving lives. The paramedics had already come in starting to list the case, you helped them to take the patient in a room. It had been a serious car accident and the woman was also pregnant, so you called OB/GYN. When you pronounced that phrase and saw Carina walking in, it all instantly seemed so familiar, like the first day you've met each other.
You still remember it like it was yesterday, a woman had been run over, and was halfway through her pregnancy. The way she behaved with patients immediately struck you, she was so sweet that she managed to reassure you too. At that time she was new at the hospital, and you felt the need to get to know her right away, that smile and those eyes on you the first time she saw you got inside you completely. And during the surgery, step after step, your gazes couldn't help but meet everytime. You didn't believe in this kind of things, like love at first sight, but with her it's been different because you had immediately felt something building inside you, the same was for her.
And here you are today, again in the same situation, your hands and bodies concentrated on the surgery, but your minds and hearts were already thinking about tomorrow.
"I wonder how you can stay so focused, I mean, I really admire you for this" Carina said giggling softly.
"Focused? Oh God I feel like I'm going to explode every minute, I'm too excited" you said smiling under the mask.
"I know right, I just can't wait to be your wife" you could hear the joy in her voice.
"Me too darling" you said. "You know what, I also can't stop thinking if everything is ready, I just want it all to be perfect" you sighed.
"I get that, it's something that never stops to pressure you, the anxiety and all that stress damn" she laughed softly. "But Andrea and all my frieds helped me a lot, he made me sure that all was perfect and I hope so"
"Yeah, Meredith, Amelia, Jo, Arizona and Alex helped me a lot too, I think without them I wouldn't made it" you said as you continued the procedure carefully. "Why is marrying someone you love so stressful?" You asked chuckling.
"Well, it must be the best day of our lives, I think it's normal some stress. And it'll be worth of it, bambina" she looked at you, even she was wearing the mask you could see her smile.
"Yes, you're right" you reciprocated the look.
After she completed the cesarean section, you still had a lot to do, Carina moved the baby where the nurses placed her in an incubator, ready to take her to peds.
"So, see you tomorrow" you said before she could leave.
"See you tomorrow and good luck with the surgery" she smiled at you before leaving with the nurses.
The surgery luckily went well, the woman was stable, the same for the baby. Your shift was over, so you went home to celebrate the night before tomorrow with your friends, which had taken pretty long, but it didn't matter since you couldn't sleep. Your mind was too awake.
The day after you woke up early and had a shower, before waking up the girls who stayed with you all the night. Meredith and Amelia prepared the dress for you, after you came out of the bathroom they helped you to put it on. The sight of yourself in that wedding dress have already had a big effect on you that facing this whole wonderful day was even too much.
"You're so beautiful" they said to you. "Hey, this is not a dream" Meredith added. You laughed softly.
"Yeah I'm just trying to realize everything"
"Damn, I'm already going to cry" Arizona said, looking at you.
"Oh, do not please, or I will too" you chuckled. When everything was ready, they helped you to get in the car.
The wedding wouldn't be in Seattle, but in a location not far away. You and Carina didn't want something very big, something intimate and simple was enough. It would have been an outdoor ceremony with all your loved ones. The journey seemed endless, but finally the car stopped at the destination. Your bridesmaids preceded you, then your moment arrived. You could feel everyone's eyes on you when you were walking, but your eyes were only focused on your future wife, right in front of you. She was sobeautiful, as always, at the sight of you her eyes were literally shining.
When the priest started the ceremony, you and Carina were just standing in front of each other, holding your hands and can't helping but smiling to each other. Your heartbeat increased every second, every single word about your story made you both almost cry in happiness and gratitude. During the exchange of the wedding rings it was a miracle that you didn't drop it. And then, it was that moment, that question finally arrived.
“Y/n L/n, do you take Carina DeLuca as your wife? Do you promise to love and cherish her, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, for better or for worse, for as long as both of you shall live?” you grinned at her.
"Yes, I do!" holding the tears was now more difficult.
"Carina DeLuca, do you take Y/n L/n as your wife? Do you promise to love and cherish him, in sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer, for better and for worse, for so long as you both shall live?” she gave you the same grin.
"God, yes, I do!" She exclaimed.
"I officially declare you wife and wife, you may now kiss" you both didn't wait one more second to approach and giving you the first kiss as a married couple. As you kissed, everyone started clapping.
The party and celebrations could begin, even if you and her could only think about your life together and what it would be like with each other every day of your lives. Everything was amazing, also all your favorite people made this day very special, but for you and Carina felt like in a romance novel every second of it.
After the night has come and all the guests congratulated one last time before leaving, you and your wife reached your hotel room, that had been prepared. You sat on the soft bed looking around.
"I still can't realize this" you sighed, still thinking about this wonderful day.
"And maybe I can, because my awesome wife is right in front of my eyes" she smiled leaning in to kiss you. You placed your hands on her cheeks, deepening the kiss.
"What a honour to be married to such a beautiful italian woman like you" you whispered in the kiss.
"And what a honour to have you all for me this night and all the nights that still have to come" she whispered, with a hand moving a lock of your hair and the other one played teasingly with the sleeve of your dress.
She made you lay down on the bed positioning herself on top of you.
"Ti amo, bambina" (I love you, bambina) she said pressing a soft kiss on your neck and then looking at you.
"Ti amo anch'io" (I love you too) you replied smiling, that was all the italian you learnt since you told her so many times. Her lips returned focusing on your neck, tasting your soft skin, you rested your head back against the pillow as your hands explored her body. Now it was just the two of you, forever and always.

All those zhongli & kusanali cute fanarts gave me a prompt idea. zhongli x afab reader accidental pregnancy in which reader experiences no symptoms until the first trimester is almost over. they find out they're expecting a daughter
Oh no this is mad cute tho hhh
Zhongli x AFAB Reader
this is just pure fluff and papa Zhongli headcanons below
It starts when you throw up one morning, totally out of the blue. at first you think nothing of it, perhaps something you'd eaten the day before just hadnt sat right.
But it does not escape zhongli's notice.
However, he's learnt in his many, many years, to not just blurt that kind of question out. So instead he tries a different method. Your favorite dish from Wanmin. his suspicions all but confirmed when he places it before you and your nose scrunches. You claim it doesn't smell right, it smells perfectly fine to him, not a single thing out of place, as he would expect of Xiangling.
So it's immediately off to Dr. Baizhu with you both and thats when you get hit with the news.
You were pregnant.
However neither you nor Zhongli had expected just how far along, He'd suspected perhaps a few weeks, but no, in fact you were well into the second trimester.
You, of course, are shocked and confused and worried.
but you aint got nothing on Zhongli.
Neither of you had been planning it, so naturally theres a talk once you both get home, unplanned, but not unwelcome. you were about to be parents.
While the ex-archon had never outwardly mentioned it, having a child of his own, to love as his own and to raise as his own, was a dream he was unsure would ever become reality. So now to have that very dream thrust into his arms? Needless to say his instincts hit overdrive.
You, of course, are barely allowed to lift a finger. you're his precious treasure, carrying another precious tresure. Man's is in shambles, you were already nearly halfway through gestation and there was nothing ready. First thing's first, pillows, blankets, anything and everything he could find to make you more comfortable. He fills one of the drawers of your bedside table with your favorite snacks, lest you crave. He would travel to mondstadt for a fresh sticky honey roast if that's what you wanted (thankfully it never was)
He would cater to your every whim...unless it was anything to do with seafood. Cooked or Raw, it was off the table, and he would not budge on the matter, he hated refusing you, but he wanted to make sure you were both well.
Second thing on the agenda? A nursery of course. much like everything else in his life, it was lavish, but practical. even when the lights were out, the room still had a faint glow about it thanks to the chunks of cor-lapis places throughout.
Cloud Retainer brings clothes. oh-so many clothes.
And it's thanks to the crane that you both discover your little baby was, in fact, a little girl.
A girl.
He's not sure why, but the concept of having a child was already alot, but to find out that the Geo archon was having a baby girl? That sends him into overdrive. He wanted everything to be perfect for his queen and his little princess. He even had contingency plans at the ready. What if she was born as a half-adeptus? it was highly likely.
He'd spend his days tending dutifully to you, the love of his life, and his nights curled protectively around you, hand resting on your belly. He cries actual, proper tears when she kicks for the first time, he can't get enough of it, he finds it fascinating and entertaining; you find the kicking painful, but the look of wonder on this millenia's old dragon endearing.
It becomes apparent when you're in your third trimester that, yes, the baby is adeptal. Zhongli can feel her pulling the extra energy from you, and at first he's afraid, but you simply smile and remind him that you have him there as well. He shares his power with you, soothes your aching bones and the baby's temper by resting his head on your swelling belly and singing quiet lullabies, hands massaging your joints.
She's so tiny when she finally arrives into the world at some ungodly hour of the morning. He could hold her in one hand.
But to zhongli? she's perfect. she was perfect because she came from you, you made her, inside you. and for all the things he's seen and done in his many long years roaming teyvat, that was one thing he doesn't think he could ever wrap his head around.
but that was a pondering for another day. Right now he had a baby girl to change, and his love to tend to, after all, you did just spend nine whole months making life and then giving birth, you deserved to rest a while longer.

Hi can you write a full on pregnancy journey between thenamesh and the eternals find out about it as well and gilgamesh is helping thena through giving birth
By all odds, Eternals cannot reproduce. It's not in their physical makeup--they're not organic beings. But there are timelines, and universes, and powers beyond mortality. The Elemental Eternal is proof of that. With her evolution comes exceptions.
She doesn't turn the Illusionist Eternal human, she returns life to the Strongest. And with his renewed life, came an unprecedented circumstance.
The Warrior Eternal became pregnant.
Without Ajak's guidance, they only had so much insight. Phastos performed every scan and test, Druig assessed what he could at the subconscious level, Sprite even tried constructing an early image of the fetus in a sort of ultrasound. Kingo proclaimed to have knowledge from playing a doctor - once - but was denied acknowledgement.
But none of them knew how to bring an immortal life into the world--or if it would, in fact, be immortal at all.
Sersi had brought her sister's dearest love back to life, forsaking even her own loved one. Thena, upon hearing the news of her new role in life, had grasped Sersi's hand. The Alchemist was confused until she saw the tears in her sister's eyes, whispering, "I'm sorry, I know how much you wanted this."
Sersi burst into tears, wrapping her arms around Thena's shoulders. She had always dreamed of transmuting life in its rawest sense. In this way, she somewhat felt that she had.
So, with the family of Eternals with only themselves, they embarked on raising this new form of 'life'.
Sersi was the only one who even remotely knew what to expect. She told what she knew, did further research. Phastos and Makkari concentrated on reading every material the human world - and beyond - had to offer. Druig was quietly attentive, never admitting to concern but always hovering nearby and commenting on if Thena or the budding consciousness she was harbouring desired something.
Gilgamesh was beside himself.
For all the years upon centuries upon millennia he had spent by Thena's side, they had never had to consider this a possibility for them. And while he usually had the typical minutia to worry about - Thena's general well being, health, Mahd Wy'ry - he now had a whole other set of problems.
He was beside her every second, reluctant to so much as look away from her and their child. Everyone told him he was being excessive, including Thena herself. But he refused to leave her again. He promised her as much, anyway. He stayed close, made sure they both knew he was there.
He cooked nutritious meals, made sure they got their rest. He was a little more insistent with his brothers and sisters than they were used to. Either he was asking Phastos and Makkari for what they had read about pregnancy or he was asking Druig how the baby 'felt'.
He asked Sprite for illusion 'ultrasounds' so often that she eventually stopped obliging him, saying that unless Thena asked, she was no longer their ultrasound machine.
Sersi threw herself into tending to Thena, and their child to whom she would be a second mother if anything happened to Thena. Sersi attempted to forbid her from saying such things, but Thena said that she had heard of such practices before, and if it had to be anyone, it could be no one but Sersi.
Phastos had complained that he had an actual child, and that Jack was even fond of Thena (for some reason) and vice versa! Thena said that yes, she was very fond of Jack too. But he and Ben would have their hands full with their human child, no less whatever immortal creature she spawned (her own words).
"Are you sure about this?" she could remember Gilgamesh asking her about halfway through. It was nowhere near the normal number of months for a human gestation, but they had to assume that their advanced cell strength and regeneration was translating into the growth of the baby.
"It is far too late to ask that," she answered, her hands on her stomach, swollen to accommodate their child.
"I mean," he shifted, taking hold of her hand next to the bed she nearly constantly occupied. Although she denied it, she had to all but be on bed rest, supplying the baby with not only her Cosmic Energy but much of her physical energy as well. "We don't have any experience in this--none of us. Are we sure we can get through this?"
Thena looked up at the ceiling, seriously considering the reality of their situation, and the question related. She patted her stomach, a subconscious motion she had taken on in the last two weeks. "Yes."
Gilgamesh chuckled, kissing her hand, "that easy, huh?"
"Hm," she smiled, relishing the small but heavy affection. "It will in no way be easy. But we can do this, is what I'm saying."
He sighed, tilting his head at her, "you'll be doing the hard part. I can be here as much as I can, but there's nothing I can do for the pain of what you'll go through."
None of them had any concept of what it would mean to give birth.
Thena let him moved the back of her hand to his cheek, always cooler to the cheek than his warmer skin. "I have no fear."
"I know you don't," he lamented more than complimented, "but maybe, just this once-"
"Gilgamesh," she said softly, pulling his eyes to hers. Her still and unwavering eyes, "I do not fear this. I will endure anything to bring this being to life."
Gil's eyes watered, "I don't want you to have to."
"Be that as it may," she soothed, moving her palm to his cheek, "I choose to allow this life shelter within me, and I have already decided that it is this life that takes precedence now--over my own, over anything else."
He shook his head, "Thena-"
"I'm sorry."
He blinked through his tears, although Thena's always became glassy.
"I have experienced living without you," she admitted, her throat tight with the difficulty of such words, "no matter how brief. I know that I am asking something unbearable of you."
Gilgamesh buried his burning eyes within the warmth of her palm.
"But the young one comes first, before all else," she insisted. She brushed his tears away and forced his eyes back to hers, "swear to me."
He nodded, unable to say it just yet. To speak such an unthinkable thing was too much for him. He had only just died and come back to life within the same twelve months. And now life threatened to both give him the greatest gift and take away his greatest treasure?
"I will be with you," she promised, rubbing her belly with her free hand again, "in a way."
That was the last they had spoken of the potential worst possibility.
The birth was hard. It took all their resources to keep everyone calm, let alone actually help with the process. Makkari and Sersi did their best, Sprite insisting that she couldn't possibly stomach the reality of what was happening. She could be heard whispering to Kingo the fear that they would lose Thena this time.
Phastos kept an eye on Thena's health, although the actual act of birth had taken more strength from the Warrior Eternal than they ever could have anticipated. All the equipment at their disposal was just barely keeping her conscious as her body prepared to, in a way, deliver its own form of Celestial.
"Thena, come on, just stay with me," Gilgamesh would whisper, his lips always close to her skin, her hair, something. He held her hand, which would have broken with her efforts were it not for his exoskeleton.
She stared upward, delirious from her efforts, her pulse thready and her skin covered in a cold sweat. "When?"
"Almost there, Thena," Sersi promised on her sister's other side, dabbing her flushed skin, "I promise, just a little more."
Makkari waved, it's time!
"Come on, Thena, one more deep breath," Sersi pleaded, squeezing her shoulders as Makkari got into position.
"Almost there," Gil whispered to her, "then you can hold our baby."
Thena's pupils widened. The baby.
A shrill cry broke the air. Breath was held as Makkari held the tiny life, washing it off and wrapping it up as Sersi had told her. There was no 'cord', like Sersi had told her, but she watched as a golden thread of energy dissolved into the air. She tilted her head.
There's no belly button, Makkari shrugged, as if that were all that significant a detail. But other than that, she's beautiful.
Sersi's eyes lit, "she?"
Makkari shrugged again but smiled as she handed the baby over to Sersi first, I guess--looks an awful lot like Thena not to be.
Sersi blinked through her tears; it was true, the little bundle looked like a tiny Thena, even with wisps of the same sun glow hair.
"Sersi," Thena struggled just to lift her arms, "please."
"Here," she whispered, leaning down carefully and depositing the baby into Thena's arms and over her lap. "Look at her, Thena, she's perfect."
"Perfect," Gilgamesh whispered, gazing upon a child of his own. He had always gotten along with human kids, maybe even gotten attached to a select few, like Jack, or Odin's little pup once upon a time. But this--this was entirely different.
"Oh," Thena blinked, her voice unmistakably melted and sweet. She smiled, "she has your eyes."
Indeed, the little one blinked and had massive, warm brown eyes, like the Strongest Eternal himself. She looked up at Thena, and then over at her father, who only dissolved further.
"Hello little one," Gilgamesh whispered, as if even his voice would be too much for his new treasure to bear. He offered his finger to her itty-bitty hand.
She was already capable of a strong grip.
"She incredible," Sersi whispered to her sister, pressing her lips to Thena's hair. "What will you name her?"
Thena gazed at her child.
Makkari and Phastos also looked over amidst the work of making sure Thena was stable and going to fetch the others.
"Olympia has always been home in our minds," Thena spoke gently, "even though there is no such thing. And yet when I say it, I still think of home--the same feeling I get when I think of Australia."
Gilgamesh leaned over, pressing a kiss to her temple.
"There shall be an Olympia," Thena declared, her eyes meeting that of her child, already so wise. "You shall be the meaning of home now, little one."
"Olympia!" Sersi gasped.
Thena looked up at her, "you are crying even more than Gilgamesh."
"So?" Sersi sniffled, barely able to see through her tears at all.
Thena let Gilgamesh take Olympia from her arms, just enough for her to recline in the bed more. "Let them in, they should meet her."
"Oi Sis!--you-"
Gil glared at the doorway, "keep your voice down."
Druig clapped his jaw shut, his teeth clacking loudly.
Kingo chuckled, for once, the most tactful of their chaotic little family. He strode in, Sprite clinging to him nervously. He smiled at Thena, "you made it."
She smiled back at her most opposite but undeniably dear brother. "You did too."
Gilgamesh tilted the bundle in his arms, although he obviously wouldn't be letting anyone else try holding her just yet. "This is Olympia."
Kingo smiled still, as if having anticipated the name that was preinstalled in all their heads. "She's beautiful, you guys."
"Gilgamesh," Thena spoke up from the bed, but he shook his head, already knowing what she was going to ask of him. He turned away, leaning over his bundle of joy. She let out a faint laugh as Kingo made his way to her bedside, "you'll have to hold her later."
He allowed the selfishness, "I think he's earned the right to hog her for a little."
"Oi sis," Druig greeted all the same, although in a whisper as he scurried over to her other wide with Makkari and Sersi. "How you doin'?"
She was still smiling, elated to be on the other side of her trauma, no matter how beautiful. She let her brother pat her shoulder, "I have experienced worse...I think."
Druig snorted, "well, for what it's worth, I've never considered you tougher."
Thena looked over to where Gilgamesh was protectively huddling over Olympia, protecting her from her own Uncles and Aunts. She puffed through her nose faintly, "if you can get close enough, take a look at her. See what she's thinking."
Druig regarded the baby curiously. Even after heading a commune for two hundred years, he had never met a baby quite like this. He waved his hand vaguely in her direction.
Warmth
Makkari rubbed his back as he swiped at his eyes. Different, huh?
He nodded, slinging his arm lazily around her shoulders. They deserve this.
Makkari watched as Gilgamesh returned to Thena's side, still refusing to let Kingo and Phastos so much as tickle Olympia's cheeks. They do.
"Come on," Sprite grumbled, choosing instead to go over to Thena's side instead of crowding the baby and baby holder.
Thena looked at her youngest - most tentative - sister. "So?--what do you think?"
Sprite pursed her lips petulantly. She eyed Olympia, and her crowd of admirers. She tilted her head, "she's prettier than I imagined."
Thena took neither offense nor humour, but smiled. "You can meet her when you're ready."
And she did. Sprite warmed to the little life, just as she did to rejoining Kingo and even the human Karun instead of the isolation of secrecy.
Kingo and Phastos easily became the most eager to dote on their new little Eternal, although Gilgamesh insisted that he be the only apple of her eye. Druig managed to sneak into her good graces, with Thena's help getting past Gilgamesh's defenses.
Gilgamesh still barely leaves her side, even months after her birth. Despite her short gestation, she seems to age according to the Earth's rotation, as far as Phastos can test.
"Ajak would have loved you," Thena whispers down to the child sleeping in her arms. Whenever she lacks sleep, she does this--walks the halls of the Domo with Olympia for comfort. Her grey robes swish around her as she takes a seat in the awakening chamber. "She would still be crying even now, I'm sure."
Olympia sleeps as soundly as her father does. Apparently this is odd for a baby, which Thena doesn't think makes sense; they need sleep, so why would they be unable to achieve it?
Thena looks up at the looming statue of Arishem. "He has done me no kindnesses. If anything, he has cursed me in many ways."
Olympia doesn't mind. She has no awareness of her mother's ailment, and with the presence of their family to help, she will never witness the uglier consequences either.
Thena smiles down at the little one, though, "but I have you. And I will endure any curse for that."
She looks up at Arishem again. "Not that he had any part in that. If anyone game me you, besides your father, it is in fact godmother Sersi."
Olympia remains unbothered.
Thena presses a kiss to her tiny head, growing more white-blonde hair by the day. "You will learn in time. I will make sure you know of Ajak. And that you never know of Ikaris."
She dislikes even uttering his name in her child's presence.
Not that Olympia minds that either.
"Shouldn't you be in bed?"
She smiles as Gilgamesh rounds the corner, his grey robes also swaying in the ambient air of the ship. "I wanted to walk."
He comes over to her, checking on their little sunburst and then her. "Come back to bed. I'll hold her if want to look at her while you fall asleep."
She lays her head against his shoulder, "perfect."

A Night Out
Request: I was wondering if you could do a short where the couple have to go out for a night to a gala or something, and they're both antsy because it's their first full night away from their daughter. Not to mention their first gala since before the Riddler, they were reclusive.
Pairing: Bruce Wayne x F!Reader
Warnings: alcohol mention, serial killer mention
Word Count: 1125
A/N: This was requested by someone on AO3, hope you like it! Also, I keep forgetting to say, but the Convenience taglist is still open if you want to be tagged in bonus chapters and blurbs :)

“Are you sure you’re going to be okay?” Y/N hovered in front of the elevator, ignoring Bruce’s attempt to tug her in with him.
Alfred sighed, and repeated his answer for what felt like the hundredth time as he adjusted Grace in his arms. “We’ll be fine. I’ll call you if we have any problems.”
“It’s just a couple of hours.” Bruce assured her.
“Okay. See you later.” She finally let Bruce pull her into the elevator.
“Have fun.” Alfred said as the doors closed.
Bruce squeezed her hand. “They’ll be fine.”
“Remind me why we have to do this.” She asked as she let him lead her over to the car.
He unlocked it and they both climbed in. “Because we’re the main benefactors and apparently that means we have to attend.” He hit the button for the garage door and drove out onto the streets of Gotham. Her knee started bouncing and he was reminded of driving to the Mayor’s memorial almost a year prior. He moved his hand to her knee and rubbed circles on her bare skin with his thumb. “It’s going to be fine.”
She shot him a small smile and rested her hand over his. “At least it’s unlikely a serial killer will show up this time.”
“We can hope.” He chuckled.
They drove the rest of the way in comfortable silence. Bruce pulled up outside the venue and climbed out of the car. He walked around and opened her door before offering her his hand. She took it and let him pull her out. The cameras were already flashing as he shut the door and handed the keys and a tip to the valet. He offered her his arm and they walked up the steps. She pulled her coat closer around herself, still self-conscious of her post-pregnancy body.
He noticed. “You look beautiful.” He whispered into her ear as they walked through the front doors.
He took her coat and made his way over to the cloak room. She glanced into the main room and saw the mass of people already inside. This was the first proper gala they had attended since he had become Batman and let the company decline. She felt like an outsider. Well, she always had, but now it somehow felt worse. Martha’s diamond necklace that she was wearing felt as though it might choke her.
“Ready?” Bruce walked back over and wrapped an arm around her waist.
“Are we ever for these things?” She asked with a smile.
“Historically, no.” He smiled back and they walked through the doors.
***
Y/N nodded along to what the man was saying to them. He was about the thirtieth person to approach them, and she had stopped paying attention about halfway through the conversation when she realised he did not actually want her or Bruce’s input. Bruce noticed her concentration faltering and the way she was leaning further into him.
“That sounds great.” He cut the man off. “We’ll be in touch. Excuse us.” He steered her away from the man and into a quiet corner. “Are you okay?”
“These things were easier when I could drink.” She resisted the urge to rub at her eyes, knowing it would only smudge her make-up. “I’m tired.”
He sighed and pulled her into him before pressing his lips against her temple. “Let’s go home.”
“Really?”
“Yeah, we showed up, talked to people, I don’t know what else they would expect.” He smiled and kept her against him as he walked them through the crowd.
Several people tried to catch them to talk, but he kindly reminded them that they had a baby who needed them home. He helped her into her coat before shrugging his own on and leading her down the steps. The photographers were still outside but they ignored them as the valet pulled up the car. Bruce took the keys and they both climbed in.
Y/N leaned her head back against the headrest and kicked off her shoes as Bruce drove off. He dropped a hand to her knee again and she curled her fingers around his. She tried to stop herself dropping off to sleep as the Gotham lights flashed by. Luckily, it was not long before they were pulling into the garage.
Bruce parked in the usual spot. They both climbed out and she remembered her shoes. But he beat her too it, and was reaching down and grabbing them before she could protest. She threaded her fingers with his as they made their way to the elevator and climbed in. He hit the button as she rested her head against his shoulder.
Alfred was waiting for them at the table in the main room, reading a book. He looked up as they walked in and put the book and his reading glasses down on the table. “How’d it go?”
“Same as always.” Bruce told him.
“How was Grace?” Y/N asked.
“She was fine, went down without any issues.”
“That’s good.” Y/N yawned and leant further into Bruce.
He smiled at her before looking back up at Alfred. “We’re going to bed.”
Alfred nodded and smiled softly at them both.
“Goodnight.” Y/N said to him as Bruce pulled her up the stairs. She walked straight into their bathroom and took her make-up off before going through her nightly routine. Once she was done she walked back into the bedroom to change into one of Bruce’s shirts and a pair of sleep shorts. Bruce had already changed into a pair of sweatpants and he pressed a kiss to her forehead before walking into the bathroom.
When he came out, she was nowhere to be seen. He shook his head with a smile before making his way to the nursery. She was stood at the end of the crib, looking down at Grace sleeping soundly. He walked over and wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her back against him as he rested his head on her shoulder. “I thought we were going to bed.”
She leaned back into him and rested her hands on his arms. “I just wanted to check on her.”
“I know. C’mon, let’s get some sleep.” He pressed a kiss to her neck before pulling her back out of the room.

idk if you talked about this and obviously the birth was hard to the hip but how was hawkes pregnancy
Context if you don't know: My Hawke has a baby with Fenris about halfway through act 3 that Varric left out of the story for obvious reasons. The birth was very hard, almost lethal, but Anders managed to save both Hawke and the baby. yay!
(Note: I realize now I keep switching between "Hawke" and "Avis" throughout this. Avis is the name of my Hawke, it's the same character. Sorry for the confusion)
So, physically it was fine. I already make the birth so hard that it feels mean to give her a really hard pregnancy. She had some nausea at the beginning but even then not an excessive amount. I have yet to be pregnant but I have never heard a single person on god's green earth who has describe it as pleasant, but I do think her pregnancy itself was merciful (which probably made the birth being so rough even MORE of a surprise now that I think about it, since it had been "easy" so far)
SOCIALLY though it was a fucking circus
I imagine the kirkwall crew finds out first and finds out quickly. Then everyone tries as hard as POSSIBLE to keep it a secret from the rest of Kirkwall for as long as they can. There are a million reasons for this. The baby being elf-blooded, Hawke being wanted by about 100 people at any given moment, Meredith and Orsino being wildcards, simply not wanting all of Kirkwall on her doorstep anymore than they already are they try SO HARD to stave it off for as long as they can. I'd say, it works for about the first six months. Which is pretty impressive! Avis tries to keep up her activity (going out, taking jobs, etc.) and quietly peters it out over the course of about month four-five to not raise as much suspicion over suddenly stopping her public Champion Acts. No, Fenris does not enjoy this part but understands the practical aspects, even if he's Really Stressed the entire time
She also keeps going to the Hanged Man, as she's seen there so regularly her suddenly stopping would raise suspicion. She even orders drinks. She doesn't DRINK them, Varric or Isabela so kindly gets rid of the drink itself for her, but she ORDERS them. She always wore loose fitting clothes and coats, so hiding her belly is easier than she would've thought at first. Of course it can't last forever. And when it finally does become impossible to hide, exactly what they were putting off starts to happen. They're getting undue attention from the city, letters of "congratulations" (totally not bribes) from Meredith and Orsino, people coming to their door, constantly offering "gifts" or "services" for the baby. Poor Bartrand and Orana basically take shifts dealing with these people because it is non-stop
And. There is a little bit of interpersonal social drama, and by that I mean there is drama exclusively started by Anders. Anders is NOT pleased with this situation
Everyone else is happy, Hawke and Fenris are happy, but Anders is not. Anders had been vocally against the relationship from the start, but had quieted about it after it became clear his influence was not going to split Avis and Fenris up (again.) Eventually, he relaxed, not because he got anywhere close to accepting their relationship, but because he'd built a narrative in his head that one day Avis would realize Fenris didn't really love her. That Fenris can't love anyone. And when that day came he would be ready, and he would be ready no matter how long it takes.
Then, Avis falls pregnant, and he is the one who tells her. Because who else is she going to go to when she starts to suspect she's pregnant? We already went over how she doesn't want anyone outside her inner circle to know. So, she goes to Anders, and he discovers it and he is devastated
I have a whole scene written, but the gist is that Anders tries to convince her of that narrative he's built. Tries to tell her that Fenris does not love her, he's already left her once, he'll do it again. If she ties herself to him she'll only be causing herself so much pain. She doesn't believe him. And that leads to Anders blurting: "What about Kirkwall? What will the people say when their Champion gives birth to a bastard half-breed?"
And they both just go completely silent. Avis starts to leave, and Anders tries to say he's sorry, but she leaves. And they. Don't speak. For months
That's why Anders isn't there at the start of the birth. He's effectively been banned. No one expects him to be there, that includes him. So when Fenris comes to get him, panicked and desperate, Anders knows the situation is dire
And it's also that moment, seeing Fenris so terrified, and then afterwards so attending, so unguarded and soft around Avis and their baby... that Anders realizes he was wrong. It puts everything about his behavior into perspective. He's heartbroken. Beyond heartbroken. But it reconciles his and Avis' relationship, and even makes peace between him and Fenris. For awhile. Because then he destroys the Chantry, and because of that, he's not there to save Avis in the fade all those years later
That was longer than I intended but I am obsessed with everything having to do with this :)

Chapter 2 - Part 1
Qui totum vult totum perdit - He who wants everything, will lose everything
He was awake already and heard the plane leave.
The air was still, the breeze had retreated in fear of the morning sun that didn't yet show itself, the promise of a sunrise threat enough.
He rubbed his eyes and sat up in bed, the moonlight licking jagged stripes on this uncovered, scarred skin.
Common alarm reverberated through his skull an hour and a half later, while he scribbled another page full in a notebook he dug out from below mountains of papers lazying around on his desk.
Breakfast was the usual, but still, something felt off.
The Captain talked to him.
He earned singular, questioning gazes from his teammates.
"I don't need to worry about you, yes?" The Captain asked him from afar.
Simon recentered himself and answered his Captain sitting opposite him at the table. People carried on eating and chatting around them.
"No, not at all."
"She's your wife, after all."
"Don't." He found himself saying despite the need to keep a low profile about his marriage.
"Simon." The Captain shifted in his seat. "She's home. You're here, and we need you here. Got that?"
He nodded. Something gnawed at his insides, but he could still hide it.
Later that day, one of the Sergeants found him in the gym.
"Ghost." The Sergeant muttered as he stepped into the large room.
"Gaz." Came the reply.
They exercised in silence for a while. The gym was one of the few rooms, sunken into the ground more than halfway, that remained at a relatively bearable temperature during the day. There were a few keys to it, and it was often locked.
Simon's key was hanging off his shoelace, he kept it close.
The Sergeant knew he tolerated team members around him while working out.
"Spot me, please?" The Sergeant looked up at him, settling on the bench some time later. Simon was drinking from a large bottle, his Adam's apple bobbing steadily. He put a thumb up and finished the bottle.
He didn't have to help out Gaz for a long time, longer than he expected him to last.
"So, why'd she leave?" He asked Simon after a lighter set when the bar clinked into place on the frame.
"Bad time to ask questions, Kyle." Ghost murmured from above him, a strange rasp to his voice.
"Price said-"
"Fuckin' hell."
"-that I should ask you." He replied and curled his fist around the bar again.
"What on God's green earth made you ask him?"
"Dun't know."
"Mind your own damn business next time." He finally grumbled when he caught the moment Kyle's resolve wavered. The bar clinked into place shakier this time.
Days passed. Hot, scorching, and monotone days, until the area around the concrete fortress was due for a proximity sweep.
Ghost grunted when the overeager Sergeant hopped into the passenger seat of the SUV. A small convoy set out at dusk to ensure safety around the base for some time and make quick work of anything that didn't belong there.
"Fucking Baltic out here, I tell ya."
He sighed at the thick Scottish accent. It made him crawl up the wall at times.
"Belt, Soap." He grumbled the command at him as he turned the keys, and the ignition sparked.
The watch passed without major complications. Miniscule dust devils danced in the distance, illuminated by nothing more than the stars and the SUV's headlights.
Sand thickened and became packed with moisture in some areas. The GPS beeped every now and then, an intricate set of noises that both men understood, giving them directions in the pitch-black night of the ever-changing Sahara.
They got back into the car after disembarking to send a wandering group further from the perimeter.
A thin layer of sand settled on their shoulders and seeped between their fingers, setting both of them slightly on edge.
"We're a man short." Soap muttered as he unlaced his boots to shake the sand out of it.
He sighed, as he knew Soap was right.
"You moan enough for two people, go drive alone." He replied, and shook some fine sand from his sleeve.
"You're not this insufferable usually." Soap retorted. "What's gotten into ya?" The Scot shook his head and laced up his boot again. "It was her, wasn't it?"
He grumbled, warning.
"Why'd she leave anywae?" Soap mused, seemingly growing to enjoy the jest.
He bit his tongue in an attempt to prevent himself from saying anything.
"Don't be a dunce." Soap's words were partly muffled by the engine starting up again.
"Leave it." He warned again.
"Aren't you…"
"No." He turned on the headlights. "When I say leave it, you leave it."
The lights hummed steadily, illuminating the golden dunes in front of them.
The rest of the ride passed in silence.
"You know you can't keep secret about this forever." The Captain remarked coldly.
He handed Simon another paper, and he scribbled his signature on it hastily, avoiding the answer.
"They caught on. They started asking me. I won't tell anything, but that won't sate them for long. They'll come knocking on your door soon."
"I know." He grumbled with force.
"Tell them yourself before they start making up their own stories." The Captain took the last paper from him and left the room without a word more.
The lecture hung heavily in the air, making the denseness of it even more unbearable.
Chapter 2 - Part 2
Plots form best under the harshest of circumstances. And heat, the most unnerving of all births deadly parasites. Blood boils, and emotions heighten.
Tempers run short.
Captain Price was called on. A precise team to snuff out a particularly nasty band of insurgents down South.
And he obliged, taking his three best men with him.
Ghost and Soap were tasked to flush two smaller buildings, while Price and Gaz took the larger one.
Soap and the Captain took a bullet each.
And Ghost blamed himself.
Radio connection established between the two teams, they entered at the same time, at different points.
Ghost ordered Soap to retreat behind a stack of crates when unexpected company arrived some rooms into the building.
"Flash!" His yell tore through the hall, followed by the muted explosion and half a magazine unloading.
"Fuck! Ghost!" Soap yelled from behind the crates.
"You hit?" He asked hastily, and Soap denied.
"Trigger control, steamin' Jesus!" The Scot emerged from behind the boxes with a disapproving look on his face and looked across the three unmoving bodies laying on the floor, courtesy of Ghost.
And that was when it happened. He was out.
It is always a bad time to reload.
Ghost knew that.
A bullet wheezed past Soap's nape, and another tore into his shoulder.
Before he knew it, the two people entering the room lay dead on the floor. Soap panted on the floor, his arms still raised, hands holding a smoking pistol.
They locked eyes.
The radio jolted awake when Ghost was bandaging Soap.
"0-7, c'me in." Price's voice was stern through the filter of the radiowaves.
"Soap. Ghost's fixin' me up." The Scot explained while he looked back at Ghost working on stopping the bleeding from the torn flesh on Soap's shoulder.
"We're done with our building. Looks like the place was a bust." The Captain's voice exerted, he was on the move.
"There's plenty to have at in ours. Pay us a visit." Soap answered with a smile tugging at his lips despite the pain he was in.
"Up." Commanded Ghost and Soap stood up.
He grabbed his radio and spoke. "We could use the help." And with that, he left the room, weapon on low ready.
The old formation soon met.
Everyone knew their job.
And Ghost fucked up. He passed a room unchecked.
Gaz had to be left behind with Price, as he caught a mouthful of buckshot to the side from the unchecked darkness.
An hour later, the intel was in their hands. Still, mood in the exfil helo was despondant. The Captain broke a fever and Soap was in an even worse shape.
"Can't afford to send you home." The Captain turned to Ghost. "Pull yourself together."
Ghost removed his helmet and scratched his ungracefully lowered head.
"Tell them for all I care. Or don't. Whatever gets you straight again."
The next time Ghost talked to the Sergeants, it was back at base. Soap's one arm in a sling, the other holding a book open, Gaz stitching a pair of ripped cargos. Ghost entered the rec room and sighed, seeing the other two men immersed in their separate activities.
The sun was long banished to behind the mountains, and the moon shied behind thin clouds.
The air was cool, calm, and unbothered.
He stood in the doorway watching the men until Soap looked up at him.
"Thought you went to sleep." He muttered, gaze turning back to trail lines in the boring mid-century book from one of the dusty shelves.
"Can't." He answered Johnny. "Listen."
Both men's brows knitted. Simon searched for their gaze. He didn't move much, his hands in his pocket, mask flush on his face.
"The Sergeant is my wife." An embarrassing blush spread across his features. He looked down. "Not technically, but she is. We've been married for… over a year now. That's all you need to know."
He never waited for answers, and neither did he plan on starting that night.
By the time Johnny and Kyle locked eyes, he was long gone. Perched on the flat roof of the building, he smoked.
The Captain found him soon.
"Cat's out of the bag, huh?" He rumbled in pain as he sat down on a nearby exhaust duct.
Simon didn't reply. A puff of smoke enveloped him.
"How'd you arrange it?"
"In secret."
"I meant the lie. Was it your idea or hers?"
He turned to the Captain, mask half-ridden up his face, showing the glowing white of new and old scars in the faint moonlight.
"Mine." He rasped and turned away again.
"She's not coming back, is she?"
He shook his head.
"Be there for her."
He turned only his head and rested his chin on his shoulder.
The cloud covering the moon dissipated.
He couldn't look into the Captain's clear eyes even for a moment, the words fell from his mouth in a broken tone.
"I'm scared."
Chapter 2 - Part 3
Soap's stitches were still in when they left for home.
The Captain was sent on sick leave for a month.
Gaz was to leave for training up north.
And Ghost…
He called her. Before they departed; a quick call to inform her when they'd land and where. Luckily, close to her, the usual base they touched down on.
She agreed to drive there. Meet the team again, and the events would unfold then and there.
They both understood the weight of it now.
The men left the scorch behind. The deathly desert edge, where even the most battle-hardened soldier knows wit's end.
Where life still found a way.
She underwent a different hell than the men during her time at home.
A resignation, a discharge, doctor's visits, and the unexplainable nature of it all to her family. An immigrant family to the UK, fleeing the wrath of the Eastern bloc arrived on the Isles to bring a better life to their unborn daughter. Raised her with clear values and strict morale that now only felt like a distant past to her any more.
She didn't dare tell them.
She closed the car door, hoping to trap the thoughts inside, and headed for the airfield.
Flashing clearance, she was in just as the plane landed. They filtered off, accompanied by another few soldiers.
Her gaze fixated on his tall form, following it as long as she could.
Minutes later, he emerged from one of the corridors she knew so well. He was wearing jeans and a zip-up jumper with the hood draped over his head.
That balaclava he always insisted on wearing while off-duty covered his features.
She'd never seen his entire face.
"Hi." She tried.
"Johnny was just after me. Hold my hand." He murmured. There was no threat to his voice, it was calming if anything. She obliged.
Johnny couldn't have seen her form hidden by his and was startled as he walked past.
"Steamin' Jesus, Di." He lifted his good arm and smoothed a hand over his heart.
She flashed him a weak smile.
"Ghost." Johnny nodded toward him and walked on as if nothing happened.
The doors behind her soon opened, then closed.
A hand found his shoulder and squeezed it.
"See you around, son." The voice was the Captain's.
"Will do, boss." He replied, unmoving, catching the Captain's form in his peripheral as he walked by with Kyle in tow.
"G'bye, you two." Kyle turned around and lifted his hat a bit while walking.
The door opened and closed again. It was just the two of them remaining.
Hands still intertwined, lost in the presence of eachother.
It was getting dark out.
"How you been?" He asked and readjusted the bag on his shoulder.
She let her hands fall.
"Been better. Yourself?"
They slotted next to each other and started walking toward the door the other previously left through.
"'m alright." He spoke as he held open the door for her. She ducked under his extended arm and passed him.
A few more corridors, a paper signed, and a last door opened.
Fresh air, crisp and lush.
The three men standing around a car, Kyle's. The Captain smoked.
"I want to talk to them." She gave them a quick look and smiled as Kyle caught her gaze.
"Not the best time." He murmured.
He recognized her car and turned towards it.
"Why?" She almost stopped, her gaze searching his.
"It's all too new for them. And I'm not in the mood to make up stories."
"Fair point." She unlocked the car from afar. He put his bags in the boot.
"I'll drive." He lazily commented just as she opened the driver's side door.
"You don't know where I live." She scoffed, one leg already in the car.
"Well, you're not mute."
She sighed and removed her foot from the car, and got in on the other side.
"I'll stay." He said firmly, in a voice she got used to hearing during missions. "For tonight, at least." He got into the car and adjusted the seat to his height.
His voice sounded sincere, almost domestic.
"Th--thank you." She muttered, looking out the window and away from him. Her cheeks burned.
"You can take the couch and I'll drive you home tomorrow morning." She offered once they turned onto the highway.
"Sure." He blinked up the rear-view mirror and switched lanes.
His hands rested on the steering wheel lazily yet still firm, she noticed.
"Don't get scared in case I have to hurl in the morning." She added, resting her chin in her hand propped up by the window.
He hummed affirmatively, and they drove along in silence for a few minutes. Orange lights illuminated the blue tarmac of the road.
"When did it start?" He asked, in an attempt to ease her mood.
"The morning sickness?"
He nodded.
"Uh… Few weeks now. The doctor said it should be over with soon."
"Okay."
They drove on for a couple minutes before he talked again.
"Anything else? Symptoms I mean." He blinked at her for a moment again.
She smiled lightly and bit her lip. "Emotions, cravings are starting, and I'm bloody tired all day."
"Alright." He nodded and opened his mouth again before he could think. "'m just worried about you."
"I… Understand."
"Haven't had time or connection to read up on anything, frankly." His finger drummed lightly on the steering wheel as he talked to underline his words. Her eyes were glued to them. "Had to ask Price… Jesus. Had to ask Price what I should do with you once I'm back. It shows he doesn't have kids."
That elicited a chuckle from her, the first one he heard her break in a long time.
Longer than he then realized he could go without.

is kes from star trek an adult: the stupidest question that people are still asking for some reason!
aka: i should be asleep but im not so i might as well Post while i'm up!
So the idea that she's not hinges on two basic ideas: her age and elogium.
Age is an easy debunk; sure, she's two, but Ocampans live to eight! According to Memory Alpha, they hit young adulthood at one year old. Pretty straightforward. You occasionally see people argue that you can't possibly attain the amount of experiences necessary to be an adult in that timeframe, but I find that unconvincing; she escaped the gilded cage her entire species is in, for god's sake, she's hardly sheltered.
Elogium... I have a lot of beef with the episode it was introduced in, honestly (you're telling me Ocampans give birth to ONE child in their whole lives?!?!) BUT. for the sake of the argument, let's take it as presented.
In the episode of the same name, elogium is compared to puberty. While this is correct on some levels- in both cases, it's the body getting ready to reproduce- it's also fairly clearly not analogous to human puberty in some pretty important respects. For starters, it usually happens at 4-5yo; you'll recognize that as halfway through an Ocampan's lifespan! This alone makes it ridiculous to point to as the sole marker of adulthood in the species, especially when we've already been told that 1yo is an adult. Secondly, under normal circumstances it only happens once in an Ocampan's lifetime. I don't think I need to explain how that differs to the average ovulating human's life experience... haha!!
Thirdly, we can use our reading comprehension to understand the broader context of the episode itself- it doesn't follow the beats of a puberty narrative, it follows the beats of an unexpected pregnancy narrative. Sudden weird cravings as the first symptom? Check. Tensions between the couple over whether they're ready to have a baby? Check. Eventually deciding to not go ahead with it under the assumption that they can simply have another child later? Check check check. Star Trek loves its analogies, so it's not too surprising that they did a storyline like this.
Fourth- and this is the weakest and final point- Ocampans were originally conceptualized as insect-like. They didn't retain many insect-like traits aside from the lifespan so this is admittedly a reach, but a great deal of insects don't metamorphose into a mating-ready form for several years... and then when they do, they die weeks to days after. It seems to me that elogium's onset being in the latter half of an Ocampan's life is roughly analogous, but again, this is speculation as opposed to drawing from canon facts like my other points, so feel free to discard this one! Just thought it was worth mentioning.
BONUS: consider whether a child would be allowed to assist with medical procedures! consider if even the brightest sharpest teenager would be able to run a hydroponics bay almost completely solo! consider if viewing a capable, intelligent woman as a child despite her accomplishments is maybe kind of weird and misogynistic! thank you! goodnight!

Interested in your answers for 17 and 19 of the choose violence ask game, if you'd like to share them! Thank you :)
I was halfway through answering when I realized I totally misread the ask game. It is... not intended to be as dark as I made my answers, I think... oh well! I'm sticking to my guns. Anyone who's read my stuff knows this is a dead dove household lol
17. There should be more of this kind of fic/art
Oh man I'm about to Reveal Myself, but... I think KP as a whole could really use more noncon/dubcon, but KimChay especially (and Kim specifically). I read a fic a looong time ago when I first entered the fandom, it was like 400 words, and I'm not gonna name it in case the author doesn't want to be attached to it, but it was so good. Essentially Chay is very enthusiastic in the smut and Kin can't bring himself to say no, and I just!!! That is the good shit to me. I feel like especially post-reconciliation, Kim is exactly the kind of person that would overcompensate for breaking Chay's heart by giving him everything he wants. (i may be writing a fic about this already, called Stress Relief. That may or may not ever be posted. That may or may not be based on my own personal trauma. Anyway.) On a lighter note! I want to see more AUs! I'm a bit spoiled coming from the TW fandom, which is like. One of the most prolific fandoms on Ao3. But mannn, I want to see KimChay writers branch out and get absolutely unhinged with their AUs!
19. You're mad/ashamed/horrified you actually kind of like...
Lets be real. My first answer was non-con. There's really not a lot I'm ashamed about lol. I mean I've got like 3 different tentacle monster fics in the works, I've got a Wuju Bakery fic that's 90% slime and oviposition (technically still up for debate. Eggpreg?). I'm all in on the things I like, and don't care/think much about the things I don't. I think I've been in fandom long enough, and gotten old enough, that I just... don't have time to waste on being awkward anymore. Lose your shame! Cast off your shackles! That said I used to think rimming was really gross and I don't like it irl but there are some people who just write it like. unf. Hot damn. I'm a little mad at @ae-azile for that one chapter of Progression 👀
Also not mad/ashamed/horrified, but I was surprised at how much I love reading autistic Kim and writing trans!Kim. For the first one I think the writers in this fandom do an excellent and convincing job at characterizing him (esp @kimkhimhant my beloved <3) without infantilizing him, which... happens a lot with autistic characters. Like, the writing is so spot on that I didn't even question in, I pretty much immediately assimilated that into my mental rolodex of headcanons. 10/10 A+ effort for everyone around.
The trans!Kim aspect is also really fun. I'd never really written trans characters before, but this past year, and the past couple of months especially, I've been really struggling with my own gender and identity. So writing about that through Kim has been really therapeutic. (Adding to my first answer, we need more trans!Kim!) Although... I do hope that the particular way I've chosen to explore his gender in Dystocia is.. taken gracefully. Since it does revolve around Kim having a very traumatic pregnancy (and a lot of other trauma in general), which I know can be triggering for people. Whenever I eventually post that monster of a fic I'm just going to liberally tag it with all the things and hope for the best lol.
I think Dystocia and Stress Relief are two fics that I'm incredibly nervous to post, both because of how personally significant they are to me in a way most of my fics aren't, and because they're both very dark, which IDK if that's something people really want to see from KimChay (esp in Stress Relief).
Anyway! This is a lot wordier and darker than it probably needed to be, and IDK if it's what you were looking for dear anon, but thank you for the ask!
