I have figured out how to find my count! Viewing the page source and then searching for the word "received' brought me to here.
I’ve continued to monitor my page source as my words changed and here’s what I have so far: MAX = 1,000 LOL = 1,100 OMG = 2000 WOW = 4,000 *-* = 5,000! WHY = 6,000 PLZ = 7,000 AAA = 7,500 ;_; = 8000 O_O = 8,500
T_T = 9,000
<33 = 9,500

Important information to keep yourself safe and happy on Tumblr.
With recent events that have transpired to a valued member of our community regarding very rude and disrespectful anon asks I did some research and have found a useful tip to stop this from happening, whilst also still having anon available for those who use it because they are shy/prefer to stay private etc when nicely interacting with others.
Some people may already know about this, I had heard about it before but I didn't know how you actually did it. But basically you can block users who send anonymous asks that are just plain awful. I think there's many methods to do it but here is one that I think is especially useful. Originally figured out by @odiomnibusvobis
In order to do this it's best to use Firefox as a browser.
Right click on the anon icon of the hate ask
Select the view page source, refreshing if it isn't clickable.
When the second page pops up press Crtl + F and type "submitted"
Highlighted in blue it'll show you the anon's URL and with that you can be free to block them!
This needs to be used more by everyone because anonymous asks is useful for those who need it but we can't keep letting it be misused by horrible people to think they can use it to freely say whatever shit they want.
Keep yourselves safe. You're all valid and important and don't deserve to be treated with no respect.

Next to the coffee cup, a paper that says: “From the desk of Todd Pearlman” in blocky writing. There are three notes underneath it that say:
“There’s some beautiful, ethereal humming. Sam’s weird assistant said it’s off-tune but it reminds me of Alberta. Maybe it’s her cheering us on from beyond the grave...”
“Need to double check Sam’s sources. Yesterday she said Alberta liked Dungeons & Dragons, which wasn’t even around then? Then when I pointed it out she said “Uh...I mean...I think she’d like it.’“
“Alberta Clone plan is still in Phase 1. Sadly.”
Under the cup of coffee is a phone, with a photo of Alberta on it.
Under the phone are two notepads. The one on the left says “TODD’S THOUGHTS: Sam joked this photo has Alberta in it. The Red Book, Liber Primus: Part One
This is going to be a long series of posts in which I interpret Carl Jung's Red Book! Jung has been a cornerstone of my mystical practice for basically as long as I've been practicing, and a major inspiration for my creative work, so imagine my surprise when I learned that Jung had his own grimoire of mystical experiences! This is maybe the most important book I've ever read.
Introduction
I owe a lot to Carl Jung. I read one page about him in a book about symbols that I received when I was about twelve, and something just clicked. In particular, the idea of the Shadow Complex really stuck with me, and has absolutely defined the last decade of my life in terms of my personal spirituality, my approach to interpreting media, and my creative writing. It’s kind of hard to overstate the impact that Jung has had on me, but despite that, I haven’t actually read that much Jung. You all know how much I care about primary sources, so I was uncomfortable with the fact that I was using Jung’s ideas as the basis of my own work without being intimately familiar with his.
I’ve made some missteps. I originally really loved the idea of interpreting gods as archetypes, and claiming that all of humanity worshipped the same gods under different names. I saw that as a beautiful uniting feature of humankind. But the concept did not hold up under scrutiny, for a long list of reasons; the short version is that I was ignoring nuances that distinguished gods from each other, dismissing some of their defining qualities as cultural quirks, as if entire human cultures were “hats” that gods put on and not the thing that makes them what they are. I didn’t start having real relationships with gods until after I started viewing them as individuals, rather than archetypes. And then there’s Joseph Campbell, and his whole “Hero’s Journey” idea, which seemed extremely profound until I actually read The Hero with a Thousand Faces and realized how flawed the Hero’s Journey framework really is. (Spencer McDaniel has a great article about that over on her site, so I recommend you check that out.) So, that was all another strike against Jungian ideas. The third strike is that people like Jordan Peterson use his ideas a lot. That in particular has made me afraid that I’ve been misinterpreting Jung this whole time.
There’s also the fact that Jung’s ideas are difficult to understand and apply, and frequently misunderstood. Clinical psychology has mostly disregarded Jung’s ideas of the collective unconscious and archetypes as more mystical than empirical, despite Jung’s efforts to prove his ideas empirically. Fans of Jung will sometimes downplay his mystical leanings to try to lend more scientific credibility to his ideas. But to me, Jung’s mysticism is a feature, not a bug. Turns out, Jung was a mystic. Jung had mystical visions and prophetic dreams since he was a young child, and his entire brand of psychoanalysis was developed specifically to explain said mystical experiences (which honestly explains a lot). Not only was Jung a mystic, he was basically the William Blake of his day! He chronicled his mystical experiences in what is basically a personal grimoire, written in the style of an illuminated medieval manuscript, with stunning illustrations.
Tumblr media
It’s called The Red Book, or Liber Novus, and it was published in 2009 (translated by Sonu Shamdasani). I got the really expensive version that’s about two feet tall and contains a facsimile of the actual illuminated manuscript. To call it an eye-opener would be an understatement. Reading it is infinitely more valuable to my spirituality and my writing than reading any of Jung’s psychological essays. The Red Book is the real source of most of Jung’s ideas and theories, and the purely mystical nature of them explains why the concepts themselves resonate much more for me than the psychoanalytic application of them does. Reading it is immensely validating, because it proves that I was right all along! Not only were my interpretations of Jung’s ideas spot-on, but my UPG aligns with his — though some of that alignment is undoubtedly a result of his influence on me, I’ve also come to many of the same conclusions entirely on my own.
I hope that the field of modern psychology will eventually do mysticism its due diligence using modern methodology, but until then, Jung’s attempt to ground all of this weirdness in psychology is the best we’ve got. I’m no psychoanalyst, so I’ll interpret Jung as a fellow mystic, because that is what I am most familiar with. I can compare his own experiences against my own, and hopefully get something valuable from my interpretation of them.
Disclaimer: These are mostly my notes and impressions; I’m not responding line-by-line (because that would take forever), I’m responding to what stood out to me. This is my interpretation of The Red Book based on my own mystical experiences and mystical knowledge, not based on Jung’s other writings. I’m using Jung’s name as shorthand for “the person writing this” or “the dreamer” — I don’t mean to suggest that what Jung expresses here is indicative of his personal spiritual beliefs. I know he had a complicated relationship with mysticism, science, and religion, so I won’t even touch that here. I’m going to be looking at this from a strictly mystical angle, and everything that follows is subjective.
The Way of What Is to Come
Jung began by introducing two spirits. One is “the spirit of this time,” a literal translation of zeitgeist (Jung’s manuscript is in German), which represents the conscious mind and conventional thought. It’s a reference to Goethe’s Faust: “What you the Spirit of the Ages call / Is nothing but the spirit of you all, / Wherein the Ages are reflected.” It’s called “the spirit of this time” because the times that we live in influence what and how we think, and form the foundation of our conscious faculties. I might define the Zeitgeist as the set of assumptions we make that defines our base-level interpretation of the world around us. So, when I complain about “latent Christianity,” I’m calling attention to the Zeitgeist. To put it in my own mystical terms, the Zeitgeist is the part of you that thinks like a human, instead of thinking like a god.
The opposite of the Zeitgeist is what Jung calls “the spirit of the depths,” which represents the unconscious mind. The Spirit of the Depths is both a personification of and Jung’s guide to the unconscious. It is something like a collective Shadow combined with a chthonic god, that encompasses all of the hidden and buried parts of humanity (or at least of Jung) that can be accessed through dreams and mystical visions. It operates independently from the Zeitgeist, and therefore can introduce Jung to secret information and concepts that fall outside of the Zeitgeist’s purview. A lot of what it tells Jung is harsh, but he understands that it’s necessary to listen to the Spirit of the Depths and internalize what it tells him.
Only a page in, and we’ve already got a mention of the Shadow concept. Since everything has a Shadow, God also has a Shadow. Jung defines God as “supreme meaning,” so God’s Shadow is lack of meaning — nonsense, void. The Spirit of the Depths tells Jung to notice the small things in life, which is pretty banal spiritual wisdom for most of us nowadays, but it’s very hard for Jung to accept. He writes, “It completely burnt up my innards since it was inglorious and unheroic. It was even ridiculous and revolting.” Everything has their own thing that they’re working through — I have to work through issues related to power and sexuality, and what Jung has to work through is issues relating to meaning vs. meaninglessness, greatness vs. mediocrity, sensibility/respectability vs. foolishness. The Zeitgeist of early-twentieth-century Germany insists that only great deeds, great men, and great ideas are the ones that matter. Jung was taught to think that things must be “glorious” and “heroic,” larger than life, for them to matter. The Zeitgeist encourages Jung to dismiss the little things as part of God’s shadow. The Spirit of the Depths informs him that the small things are still part of God and not God’s Shadow because they are not nonsense. The mundane is still divine, because it is not nonsense.
The Spirit of the Depths tells Jung, “all the last mysteries of becoming and passing away lie in you.” It’s a big deal to be one of the people of this time who can experience the Mystery the way the ancients did, or near enough. Actually, wait — Jung isn’t quite a person of this time. There’s a solid century between Jung and me, which is enough time for the Zeitgeist to have changed considerably, but not that much time. He’s essentially my immediate ancestor, the most recent entry in my mystical tradition. It is absolutely wild to be reading the Mystery filtered through a specific, named person who lived only a century ago, as opposed to ancient mystics of Antiquity who didn’t write everything down so I have to blindly guess at what they might have experienced or how they might have interpreted it. But there’s enough time in there that I keep wondering, am I in the time that is to come? Is Jung receiving this information so that I can be primed to receive it?
Jung says, “It is true, it is true, what I speak is the greatness and intoxication and ugliness of madness.” Yeeeeah! We’ll get back to divine madness, but I love that it’s being brought up this early. However, it’s a lot harder for Jung than it is for me to admit that these words or visions might come from a place of madness, because Jung is a person who really likes for things to make sense. On that note:
I must also speak the ridiculous. You coming men! You will recognize the supreme meaning [God] by the fact that he is laughter and worship, a bloody laughter and a bloody worship. A sacrificial blood binds the poles. Those who know this laugh and worship in the same breath.
Hmm, this doesn’t sound like any god I know at all… I love that phrase “a bloody laughter and a bloody worship.” That’s Dionysian worship in a nutshell, right there.
My speech is imperfect. Not because I want to shine with words, but out of the impossibility of finding those words. I speak in images. With nothing else can I express the words from the depths.
That checks. Mystical experiences often come as floods of insights and images, but few words, I think because words are literally processed differently by the brain (don’t quote me on that). Putting it into words literally requires a translation, and it can be very difficult to find the right words to do it justice or record every aspect of it. I’m also reading an English translation of Jung’s German, so that’s another degree of separation, but two degrees of separation is relatively little.
Jung has a vision of a sea of blood blanketing Europe, which is obviously a premonition of WWI. He also dreams that he returns to his homeland (Switzerland) from a “remote English land,” to find it covered in frost in summer; he makes wine from iced grapes, which he shares. The first part of this is a premonition — he was in Scotland when WWI broke out, and hurried home. As for the second part, “…I found my barren tree whose leaves the frost had transformed into a remedy. And I plucked the ripe fruit and gave it to you and I do not know what I poured out for you, what bitter-sweet intoxicating drink, which left on your tongues an aftertaste of blood.” Not sure exactly how to interpret this, but it’s a striking image, especially to a Dionysian like me.
Reassuringly, Jung insists that he is relaying his own experiences, not mine or anyone else’s:
It is no teaching and no instruction that I give you. On what basis should I presume to teach you? I give you news of the way of this man, but not of your own way. My path is not your path, therefore I cannot teach you. The way is within us, but not in Gods, nor in teachings, nor in laws, Within us is the way, the truth, and the life. Woe betide those who live by way of examples! Life is not with them. If you live according to an example, you thus live the life of that example, but who should live your own life if not yourself? So live yourselves. The signposts have fallen, unblazed trails lie before us. Do not be greedy to gobble up the fruits of foreign fields. Do you not know that you yourselves are the fertile acre which bears everything that avails you? Yet who today knows this? Who knows the way to the eternally fruitful climes of the soul? You seek the way through mere appearances, you study books and give ear to all kinds of opinion. What good is all that? There is only one way and that is your way. You seek the path? I warn you away from my own. It can also be the wrong way for you. May each go his own way.
Thank the gods for this! It’s too common for mystics to assume that their own personal revelations apply to everyone else, because mystical experiences really do make you feel like you have all the answers to life, the universe, and everything. Hearing straight from Jung himself that he is only speaking for himself, and that what he says here need not apply to me or anyone else, ironically makes his words more validating. Also, my biggest criticism of Jungian psychoanalysis is that it seems to apply the same symbols universally (the gender essentialism in the anima/animus concept comes to mind), so I assumed that Jung was extrapolating from his own mystical experiences. It seems as though he actually had the wisdom to admit that these symbols apply only to himself.
Refinding the Soul
Jung feels distanced from his soul, because surprise surprise, 20th century patriarchy is spiritually bankrupt. At the time he had the bloody-flood vision, Jung was forty years old and had accomplished everything that patriarchy says you should want in life — he had honor, power, wealth, knowledge, and happiness. He succeeded. He won the game of life. All he was left with was abject horror and the question of what to do with himself, a midlife crisis. (From a quotation in the footnotes, Jung defines the midlife crisis at the moment at which the Shadow first asserts itself: “A point exists at about the thirty-fifth year when things begin to change, it is the first moment of the shadow side of life, of going down to death.” Buddy, I’ve gotten way past that and I’m not even twenty-five!)
Jung thus came to the realization that he had dedicated his life to the wrong things:
I had to accept that what I had previously called my soul was not at all my soul, but a dead system. Hence I had to speak to my soul as to something far off, and unknown, which did not exist through me, but through whom I existed.
“A dead system” is a great way of putting it. It reminds me of the Fight-Club-esque dissatisfaction of having ticked all the boxes within the system and done everything you’re supposed to, and receiving absolutely no real fulfillment from it. (I bet Fight Club also owes a lot to this.) It also reminds me of my new favorite Terry Pratchett quote, from Small Gods, “People start off believing in the god and end up believing in the structure.” A structure by itself is completely hollow — what’s scaffolding for if it doesn’t support anything? I also like that second line. You exist through your soul, by means of your soul, and not the other way around… That suggests that it’s more real than you are.
Jung explains to the reader that if you seek external things – money, success, validation from other people — then you will not find your soul, and will enter midlife crisis. The soul is only found internally. So go inward, and do the work. Pretty self-explanatory at this point, but must have been earth-shattering back then because he spends a lot of time justifying it. It’s the Spirit of the Depths who tells Jung to look internally and reconnect with his soul:
Therefore the spirit of the depths forced me to speak to my soul, to call upon her as a living and self-existing being. I had to become aware that I had lost my soul.
I think it’s interesting that Jung uses feminine pronouns for his soul. That makes sense, since I use masculine pronouns for mine. I’m not sure how this relates to the anima/animus concept, whether it’s the same thing or a slightly different thing. It’s probably the same idea, because “anima” is the Latin word for “soul.” I checked, and Jung uses “seele” and not “anima,” possibly because he hadn’t developed the concept yet.
I interpret Astor as my Shadow and associate him with my repressed personality traits, but Jung would say that he was my animus, because I’m a woman and Astor is the man that exists in my mind. Jung conceived of the Shadow and anima/animus as separate figures — the repressed aspects of the personality and repressed femininity/masculinity, respectively — that need to be integrated separately. For me, they’re the same figure. The anima/animus is one of the concepts that I think hasn’t aged well, not because the concept is inherently bad (internal repressed qualities that one associates with the opposite sex) but because the way it’s presented and describes falls along strictly gender-essentialist lines. This is especially because the anima/animus is less personal and less “universal” than the Shadow, which inevitably means projecting Western gender norms (such as “women are more emotional and men are more logical,” which Jung expressed as Eros and Logos) onto everyone in the world and calling it an inherent psychological feature of humankind.
I think it’s is one of those concepts that was progressive for its time but regressive now with our more nuanced interpretation of gender. For example, the anima appears in men’s minds as a sex symbol, but the animus apparently does not appear as a similar sex symbol in women’s minds: In Man and His Symbols, Marie Louise von Franz says “…the animus does not so often appear in the form of an erotic fantasy or mood [as the anima does for men]; it is more apt to take the form of a hidden “sacred” conviction.” Yeah, that’s bullshit. I’m willing to bet anything that this interpretation is the result of women being sexual objects from men’s perspectives (as the “anima”) but denied any access to or expression of sexuality within their own minds. Women aren’t culturally allowed to desire men, so the animus is the unsexed voice of her father giving her very judgemental advice and rigid solutions, instead of a seductive incubus. That doesn’t check. Astor is basically a sexual fantasy with a mind of his own, and if Lestat, Rhysand, Edward Cullen, and Azhrarn exist, I’m clearly not the only woman who has a relationship with this specific archetypal lover.
Actually, I also have the “nightmare woman,” a separate entity from Astor that is a textbook example of what Jung would call a “negative anima”… if I were a man. Maybe having an opposite-sex Shadow and same-sex anima/animus is another sign of my gender identity being a bit screwy. Or maybe the reason why Jung’s soul is female is because his gender identity isn’t that straightforward, either. Either way, I think the anima/animus concept needs to be redefined to make it less cishet. It’s not universally applicable to say that your Shadow must be the same sex as you or that you have repressed femininity/masculinity. That was probably true back in the early twentieth century when anyone would repress any inclination towards cross-gender expression for fear of social disembowelment, but now? “Hey, turns out men/women have feminine/masculine traits, too” is not an archetype.
I digress. Back to The Red Book.
I came upon an interesting revelation while reading this section — if Jung’s soul is feminine and he has to “refind” her, then that’s why the hero of every fairy tale gets his princess at the end of the story. The princess is his soul, which he is given a right to by having completed the self-actualization process through the events of the story. The “half a kingdom” part of the Standard Hero Reward could represent control over part of the unconscious mind. I got a prince and half a kingdom from this process (maybe it’ll be a whole kingdom if I ever finish a version of the map that I’m happy with). It’ll quickly become apparent that this whole book chronicles Jung’s own Hero’s Journey. That means… in a manner of speaking… the the Hero’s Journey isn’t based on Jung’s ideas – Jung’s ideas are based on the Hero’s Journey. Because the Hero’s Journey is the ancient mystical process of self-actualization.
[Edit: I was getting ahead of myself here. Pretty much all of this will be addressed later when we get to Liber Secundus.
If we possess the image of a thing, we possess half the thing. The image of the world is half the world. He who possesses the world but not its image possesses only half the world, since his soul his poor and has nothing. The wealth of the soul exists in images. […] My friends, it is wise to nourish the soul, otherwise you will breed dragons and devils in your heart.
I interpret this as meaning that in order to “possess” the world in full, to have our princess and half-a-kingdom, you have to have both the internal and external aspects of it. To put it in alchemical terms, unite the fixed and volatile. (Unification of opposites is going to be a big theme throughout this book.) If you don’t “nourish the soul,” then it festers like a wound and you start projecting unaddressed Shadow aspects on the external world. (We’ll get back to that, too.) Without your Shadow or your unconscious mind, you’re half gone.

Here are some Galleries of vintage Fan Art of Vampire Chronicles Characters
First up is an old archive of Louis de Pointe du Lac Fan Art.
The names or pen names of the artists are included as well as their websites, though most of their websites are broken links.
This site is not put together very well because, frankly, I had no idea what I was doing. The way I learned HTML was to go to a page that had something that I wanted to know on it, such as a picture with text directly beneath it, right clicking for View Source, and guessing at what, of all those symbols and letters, made it do that. I would try it on my page and preview and edit until I made it happen.
It isn't in any order but the order that I found the fan art.
A lovely person, Morrigan, took it, cleaned it all up, put it in alphabetical order and posted it, with my permission to a new site. I believe she continued to add to it as well.
But the link to the new site seems to be broken as well. So if you want to see some vintage Louis Fan Art, it is here.
Along with this I compiled a list of quotes describing Louis from IWTV to TVA.
The wonderful SilverHawk agreed to take this over for me and the link for her version of the site is on the page, but again, I'm afraid the link is broken, so you only have mine. I apologize for the bright green text, again, that was how we did things back then.
Visions of Louis
Next is a much smaller gallery of Daniel Art. I had only begun to collect it when everything went kablooey.
This is a Lestat Gallery curated by Marc
There is an Armand Gallery curated by Frankie and Sybelle
Angel with Black Wings Gallery
I am sure there is much more out there, and tons of contemporary fan art but this is what I have.
Enjoy!

Note
hey! i found you thru your neocities site and really really wanted to ask, how did you code your art gallery? it's lovely and perfect and i high-key want to steal it
THANK YOU FIRST OF ALL!
secondly... I wish i could give you a comprehensive answer but truth is since i worked on it for over a year i don't remember everything i did? a lot of the things i achieve with my markup is based on trial and error and testing different solutions. i don't actually know what i'm doing lol. i use a lot of tutorials and old forum posts and such and i wish i could just link those but when so much time has passed i can't remember everything i looked up. HOWEVER i'll try my best to provide some basic guidance to what's what, and what it does in my markup, to make it easier if you want to copy my shoestring bullshit. (and past how embarrassing it is that my markup is so messy and inefficient, i have no problem with anyone referencing my source or even copy pasting whole chunks of it to have a base to work from if they wanna make something similar to me. no credit needed ofc , just don't use any of my assets or style it the exact same, make it your own! )
THIS IS GONNA BE A LONG POST SORRY SO I'M GONNA HAVE TO PUT THE REST OF IT UNDER A "KEEP READING" , ANYTHING ELSE WOULD BE INHUMANE...
here are links to the relevant sources for the page, there's also another stylesheet linked but this is just a very basic one for my website that has my fonts and scrollbar styling so it's not important here.
view-source:https://korsse.neocities.org/gallery view-source:https://korsse.neocities.org/sidebarstyle.css
(no idea if these links will work for you or if its different per browser or what, if they don't just go to my gallery and right-click view source or inspect or smth)
btw before reading further its useful to know that i use https://www.w3schools.com/ a lot (playing around with the tryit editor is really helpful to understand HOW shit works. sometimes i even make the basic structure i want in the w3s editor isolated from the rest of my messy markup to ensure i get the basics of it to work before i integrate. this way i know that if it breaks it's because it's conflicting with other shit on the page and not because i fundamentally fucked up. ) and i'm just going to assume you know the basics of stuff like what a div is and the difference between class and id etc...
my gallery is largely based on 3 main types of thing(?) : modal images, tabs and collapsible.
THUMBNAILS AND MODALS
my thumbnails are also css, (I KNOW the method i used for my thumbs is something i got off some forum post or reddit comment or substack or whatever, i can't find it again though.) HOWEVER I would not recommend doing thumbnails the way i did because you do not get an appealing custom crop (or i guess you probably could in theory but to do that for every image would be more work than its worth) and because considering it's really just the full image sized down and cropped with styling, it takes a long ass time to load. ( the only reason i do it this way is to not have to make, edit and host individual thumbnails for 6 years worth of art. it's a real menial task to do when you'd have to do it for over 400 images ) but if you need uniform sized thumbnails the best way to do it afaik is to make them in whatever graphics editor you have. i'm unsure if this would be compatible with image modals ( as constructed in the w3s tutorial ) but if not you could probably just make a box modal do the same thing and have the thumbnails be buttons styled with inline css like this:
<button id="whatever your id is" style="background-image:url(thumbnail path)">
to make them work as thumbnails though you'd have to make all the dimensions of the actual image file for each thumbnail true to the pixel height/width you'd want them to display as on the page and use css to style all the buttons to be those same dimensions. this will interfere with other buttons on the page but you can probably get around this with making a button class. like for example if your thumbnails are 100x100px you slap this in your css
button.thumb {width:100px; height:100px;}
and add this to the button tag
<button id="whatever your id is" class="thumb" style="background-image:url(thumbnail path)">
HOWEVER... this might mean you'd have to make a new modal (on the html side) for every single image so it's probably not ideal if you're gonna have over 400 images like i do... there should be ways to make multiple modals on the same page not a nightmare but you'd have to keep track of unique ids for each one at the very least.
here are both links to the basic w3s modal image and modal box tutorials for convenience.
wish i could have explained what i did better but the modal was like the first thing i did,
Tumblr media
and was kind of a nightmare to figure out because i originally wanted it to display a description using the alt text styled in a very specific way that i ended up scrapping because it was broken as fuck and evil and bad. (cw: gore in the bg of the image below btw)
Tumblr media
my memory has been corrupted so that the battle with the alt text is all i remember from making it rather than the useful stuff that survived into the current version lololol.
tabs
ok now we're getting into the layout of the page itself. my gallery consists of a sidebar and the page content
Tumblr media
in the sidebar the bottom two boxes have the universal stuff that goes on every page that has the sidebar, and the links are just normal links to individual pages. but the top box with the red "links" is the gallery navigation right? and they are not links at all, they're buttons to designated tabs.
for the BASIC layout of the page, it's split into two divs called "sidenav" and "main". [sidenav] is everything that goes in the sidebar space and [main] is literally everything else. there should be nothing directly in the [main] div except for other divs, it is merely a container for the tabs. each and every "page" is a tab, including the "Art" tab that is open by default (i might be wrong but iirc what tab is open by default is simply decided by which one is first in the html document i am so so wrong, it's determined by id in the javascript.)
tab buttons go inside the sidenav div and tabcontent goes inside the main div. i have my tabs styled as inline-block, i can't remember if it matters that much or not but you know... considering what inline-block is, it probably does?
tabcontent contains everything the visitor will see, for most of my gallery tabs this means thumbnails. my thumbnails are laid out in a grid using div classes called "row" and "column" four [column] divs go inside one [row] with one thumbnail directly inside each [column] div. each new line of thumbnails is a new [row] div with another 4 [columns] and their contents, you get it, it's not complicated, just verbose. there are lots of other less amateur ways you can display shit in a grid layout using html/css but my brain is small so this works for me!! :,D
even though they might seem intimidating with the javascript required, tabs in general are pretty simple if you follow the w3s tutorial (there's even one specifically for vertical tabs) . just make sure to keep all the contents of each tab INSIDE said tab and it shouldn't cause much trouble.
since my gallery is so bloated with image links and such i thought i'd also link this example page ( and the source: view-source:https://korsse.neocities.org/temp/exampleignorethis ) i made on the fly for someone else a long time ago. its just a hodgepodge of copy pasted w3s stuff to quickly show off a navbar with tabs and "accordions" (more or less the same thing as collapsible just called smth different in a menu context?) but it's kind of a simple version of the same stuff i did with my gallery? perhaps it can be useful for you as an example, perhaps not. but i might as well link it just in case lol.
collapsibles
the doodle tab also has collapsibles! idk if you even care about this but it's part of my gallery and one of the more fun features that isn't present in your average neocities gallery page. (talking out my ass, maybe they are super common idk, i haven't checked)
the collapsible aren't any more complicated than tabs, and their integration into my gallery isn't any worse than putting the buttons and collapsible content div inside the tabcontent and putting the thumbnails inside the collapsible content div. style as desired with css to make it look the way you want. i didn't do anything too fancy with it. once again easy-peasy if you use the w3s tutorial
Tumblr media
uhhh i think that's it? there is more stuff i could explain but i have very little experience with writing explanations like this so i'll leave it at this to start. but don't hesitate to ask if there's anything specific you found confusing, or anything else about how my gallery works that you want me to go into ! ik i could have been more concise but i'd be here all day retyping stuff so i hope u could bear with my long wall of text, i'm not a writer ^^' (i'm a rambler). good luck on your webpage endeavors!

Really can't say enough good things about neocities dot org
Not only has running my own website helped me get back all the HTML I learned in high school, I've also learned some new stuff, like how to get tooltips to appear when you hover over images or links, how to resize pictures in HTML so you don't need to have 5 different sizes of the same picture, and lots of little formatting stuff.
Once you have a basic understanding of HTML, you'll discover that you can see how people make their websites Look Like That by looking at the source code (on any website, right-click in the browser window and select "View Page Source"). Plus, if there's stuff that you want to do but can't figure it out, you can use OpenOffice to save an HTML document with the kind of formatting you want, and view the source code to see how it did that. That's kind of the HTML equivalent of counting on your fingers.
Plus, I'm writing long-form again, which is something I really lost when I joined tumblr. And, I have a web presence on a website that isn't controlled by a megacorporation, that the web host doesn't interfere in, and I even have 1024 MB of space to do what with! My first website in high school, I made that work with just 25 MB and I had all type of images and soundfiles and videos and shit. So 1 GB is way more than I'm ever likely to use.
Just like... start your own website, girls. There's no reason not to.

According to this Reddit thread, it appears that FF.net’s final days are upon us. Here’s how you copy/paste your works so you can transfer or preserve them
Open your browser (I did this via Chrome)
Right click, select View Page Source (this will appear in a new tab or window)
Hold down Ctrl and press F, Put the first line on the fic page into the find box, hit enter. This will show you where the fic begins in the Page Source page.
Highlight your fic, stopping when you get to </div>. Sometimes the entire fic including authors note will be on one line in Page Source, sometimes it will have multiple lines. Either way, it always ends with </div>
Copy the highlighted text and past it into Word or a Tumblr document or AO3, etc...etc... Have HTML enabled. This will retain any formatting like bold, italics, etc.... the fic has. If you feel better with Rich Text mode or paste it into Word, you can easily find HTML codes by going to ctrl+f and look for instances of <
You might have to go through and adjust where the text drops to the next line because sometimes it wants to split in the middle of sentences even in the author’s note. Always preview before posting to make sure you caught all the instances
I did this recently to transfer over several dozen older fics. It did take some time because I had so many, but it wasn’t a slow process per fic.

Here’s something fun that appeals to my interest in 1) Bugle, 2) John Oliver when he was British, and 3) Chocolate Milk Gang. Traces of a flyer that Avalon put together to advertise their acts at the Edinburgh Festival in 2002. I’ll paste the relevant screenshots below, but it’s better to click the links and look at them there, since that lets you magnify the pictures so you can read all the words clearly, and they’re worth reading:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
A few things about this:
- Andy Zaltzman, as recently as 2021 but also for many years before 2021, took any opportunity to reference the reviewer in 2000 who called him “grindingly mediocre”. I find it hilarious that even back in 2002, he was referencing that line in his show flyer. He has been complaining about that one bad review for twenty years.
- “ ‘I shudder at the potential consequences, and so does everyone close to me,’ said a source close to Rupert Murdoch.” That is, again, a quote from Andy Zaltzman’s 2002 tour flyer, suggesting that his show that year would scare the shit out of Rupert Murdoch. He called it nine years in advance, that he was going to do a show that would fuck with Murdoch to the point of consequences. He was completely right, he just called it too early.
- One thing I really enjoy about The Bugle is I can watch how Andy’s comedy changed and improved over time. He got smoother, clearer, and sharper in the way he executed what he wanted to do. But I enjoy that this flyer shows he hasn’t actually changed what he wanted to do. He’s been doing the same thing for twenty years, he’s just gotten better and better at it as time’s gone on. He’s tackled harder subjects and found new angles and branched out into increasingly absurd ideas when the world he was trying to satirize got tough to keep up with. But basically, he’s always wanted to reach the same goal. Basically he listened to On the Hour when he was young, said, "Yes I want to do that," and then never changed his mind.
- I didn’t know John Oliver wrote for Smack the Pony and The Sketch Show. Smack the Pony makes sense, but for some reason I have trouble picturing him existing in the same world as Lee Mack, even though I’ve seen a video of them playing football together. Also, what the hell are those other credits listed? Some of those are not on his IMDB page, and I have checked.
- “In Edinburgh 2001, John Oliver appeared in the Perrier Best Newcomer nominated ‘Andy Zaltzman vs the Dog of Doom’ and the Perrier nominated ‘Antopolski’. Depending on your point of view, his presence in those shows either directly contributed to their success, or prevented either from actually winning.” Interesting that in 2002, John was trying to sell himself by saying he worked with the successful Andy Zaltzman (and Dan Antopolski), rather than the other way around.
- They thought John Oliver was ubiquitous by 2002? God, you just fucking wait.
- Andy Zaltzman: “A genius in the making”. You’re God damn fucking right, he was.
- “John may not appear happy at any point throughout the festival.” Yeah, you might want to extend that disclaimer for the next twenty years, actually.
While I’m at this, and by “this”, I mean “discussing what Bugle people did before they were on The Bugle, do you want to see video evidence that Nish Kumar was listening to The Bugle at least a few years before he was ever booked on it? Here he is in 2013, and right at the end of this video, he uses what is clearly an Andy Zaltzman line. Not in a bad way - that sort of comment is general enough so I’m not saying it counts as joke stealing or anything. But it’s definitely a sign that he’d been listening to The Bugle.

im trying not to be biased bc like i waited 7 months without a response from gbagok & i only DMed him once & i was v patient despite what my friends frequently describe as “stalker” instincts (i maintain that it’s not my fault so many people have such publicly available addresses & it’s not like i’m going there or using streetview or something, it just shows up! blame google!) BUT.
toyguru is bugging the shit out of me. like i am trying to think kind thoughts here because he has information i want very badly but he is just being kind of a douchebag. straight up when he took a while to respond to my email i was like okay cool, that’s fine, i will settle in for the long haul, but then he did respond saying he’d be posting videos about it “soon”. when is soon. he was posting daily videos at the time & he’s since dropped off to 5 a week, but like?? surely information which ONLY he holds, literally only he, would give him more fucking views than an unedited, 8 minute ‘how minimum order quantity works with action figures’ video. who is going to CLICK on that scott. it is a one sentence answer on the first fucking page of google!
okay deep breath. deep breath i’m cool.
anyway. he posted this big clickbaity video yesterday about how Origins is cancelled & he has it from three inside sources blah blah blah and that’s, obviously, had a surge in views. but now he’s posted a response video bc people are like “why should we believe your uncited and unverifiable claims” and i guess god forbid he wait until monday to say “wait and see”
what if he dies? what if he just fucking dies and this information dies with him? what if somebody who’s mad he’s talking shit about an action figure line goes to his EXTRA publicly available address (he never shuts up about his town and hangouts) and stabs him or some shit and i never get to know how the fuck i’m supposed to pronounce c’yra
god it’s just like. jesus christ. i would rather he never answered my email. i was already watching his youtube channel, but now i just feel like he’s trying to keep me on the hook for something, the same way he did to the he-fans when he worked on MOTUC. like okay man great i’m on your channel. i’m not going to watch any of this shit, especially the NFT toy commercial? (#girl really) your titles are always too long & get cut off--literally the only videos i can see the full title of are the ‘learn hieroglyphics’ ones (and btw, there are faster and easier ways to do that than one 10 minute video at a time), you repeat topics constantly, and your MOTUC “director’s commentary” are--
wait actually. hang on a minute. i need to look something up.
holy shit they’re in order. okay. okay.
he’s doing one figure a week, right? last few were entrapta, flutterina, NA skeletor, and madam razz. which were all released aug/sept of 2014. and he left MOTUC in october of 2014.
could... is it that easy? is he just going to run out of figures in--well he probably worked on the whole year so--11 weeks (or 4 if i’m real lucky)?
eleven weeks. i could wait eleven weeks. assuming that’s when he’d start the new series? god but catra was the 32nd fucking figure is he going to do one at a time and drag this shit out for three years? it wouldn’t exactly be out of character and like i wouldn’t go to north carolina for this but somebody is going to stab him at that rate

do you have any advice for how you made the tallahassee microsite/reconstructed it? i’ve been interested in doing the same for we shall all be healed
hello! i've been having The Days of All Time, so sorry for the wait 😅 i talk about how i did it here on my site, but the broad strokes are:
go to page on the wayback machine
download every image i can by right-clicking
right click the page itself -> view source -> copy and paste the html into my code editor
i should clarify: this is the insane person way to do it! do not do this! there are tools that allow you to mass-download pages off of the internet archive, which would've saved me a lot of time and effort.
i would also view source to get the images that showed when you weren't hovering your mouse over it. i'd find it in the source code and open the image's link in a new tab, which would let me download it. this same trick goes for missing images, too - sometimes it'd bring me to a different date where the file was actually backed up.
for reconstructing pictures, i could only really work with the hover images/vice versa. taking a brief look at WSABH, it looks like you shouldn't have too too much difficulty with that.
this is REALLY important if there are any .swf files!!! just because they don't show up on the page doesn't mean they aren't there! check the source code! if they're on the archive, you can open them in the video editor of your choice, export them as a .mp4, and re-embed them. (they can be very finnicky, though. it took some tweaking to get the bedroom gif to work properly, and now how much would you pay is corrupted and i can't fix it.) just know that if you choose to host on neocities, you can't host an .mp4 on there without a subscription - embedding it as a youtube video is fine, as long as you keep a copy somewhere else. i previously used google drive but it's stopped playing nice with embeds, at least on safari.
if everything above has failed, check annotated tmg's transcript and youtube for videos.
i have a hunch that WSABH's site was made with the same software as tallahassee's, so if it was, just know that there are a couple of weird quirks. if you have prior experience with web design, it'll probably make ur eye start twitching lol. 4ad's css page is linked to the file but i don't think it's actually necessary for the page to work - most of the styling for elements is done in-line.
that's about all i can think of... good luck!!! if you ever need more help, please do reach out again, and i'd love to see this when it's done.

Reflective Final - Website
DISCLAIMER: Not sure if this works on mobile, so this is best viewed on a desktop
Click for Abditive Website
For the reflective I made a website showcasing all of my pieces throughout the course. On the surface the website looks pretty basic but there are hidden clues hidden throughout the home page linking to more detailed pages about the projects. These other pages have more varied and inconsistent designs, separating them from the main page. The elements are hidden in different ways, even using the source code itself to find the keywords for the links. The website itself showcases how something can be 'abditive' or 'hide'.
Admittedly is not my best. I'm not sure if I did the whole reflective right, and did not give myself enough time (due to bad organization on my part) to do more interesting pages. Sometimes it would take me hours to figure out how to code certain elements, which ended up taking more time than I expected. I also wanted to make a clues page but sadly due to my lack of organization I did not have enough time to make a page. Instead, I made a video walkthrough showing how to find the pages. I will also include the direct links below. I still had fun making the website but wish I had given myself more time to make it more interesting and unique.
If you have trouble navigating the website, scroll down for video and link spoilers.

I bet you have USB drives full of pictures of my fiancé hidden in a box somewhere. That's the level of degenerate behavior you're at.
If I heard that, it would be much less surprising than the fact that you came back and watched that video on like 30 to 50 different days in the last two years.
That was shocking.
The idea that you probably have saved pictures of my partner somewhere wouldn't beat that on my fucked-up meter, and that's saying a lot. Between going through all of my best friend's kids pictures to find my address and these Youtube analytics I found tonight, I really can't be shocked by much at this point. I could find out you have a necklace I threw away over a year ago, and I'd probably say, "Yeah, sounds about right."
What the fuck is wrong with you, dude.
You really have no perspective on just how you're acting. If you did, you would have exhibited a teaspoon of self-control at this point. When you were Zillow-ing my house and comparing it to my videos, I hadn't had anything to do with you for months.
You just get quiet about it.
You never fucking stop.
It even tells me the source of a lot of those views were links, not "impression" (Youtube showing my video on pages). It means those viewers specifically clicked on a link to get to the video.
Links like the ones you admitted to saving so you could revisit my unlisted videos.
This is the kind of shit I can't even tell my mom is going on because she'll get worried and insist that I call the police. I've resulted in just not telling my family about this situation for the most part because they encourage me to immediately contact authorities. So instead of telling them about it, I just write it down and document it.
I'm tired of concerning my family over a bitch who can't just mind her own business.

How did you make your first Affiliate Sale.
I will share my personal experience of how I made my 1st affiliate income from Facebook groups. There are so many ways to earn your first affiliate sale with free traffic. There is no right or wrong method, just try which one will work best for you.
Tumblr media
How to make your first affiliate sale?
I was surprised when I made my first affiliate sale from Facebook groups. It was when I checked my email. There was a notification that I made a sale from one of the Fiverr affiliate program.
Here's my first sale notification I got from Fiverr.
Tumblr media
It's was a great feeling for me since this is the first time I made an organic affiliate sale from Facebook groups. I was feeling super excited on that day!At that time, I realized that making money through affiliate marketing using Facebook groups was possible. Even I didn't have an email list yet. But I didn't know email list back then. It gave me hope that earning an affiliate sale without collecting an email list as a new passiver was possible. As long as i had enough quality traffic to my fiverr affiliate link, making affiliate sales were possible.I know for every newbie who's starting the tough journal with affiliate marketing, I tell you there are so many things to learn .
Okay What's a Traffic source?
A traffic source refers to any platform that can send visitors to an affiliate site, landing page, or CPA offer. It is the medium through which people find a website or offer you promote. Monitoring these sources can help you understand what attracts users and focus on doing more of that to keep the traffic coming. It gives you ample information about the target audience to figure out how to convert them best.
Tumblr media
A traffic source can be either organic or paid. Organic traffic comes from unpaid sources, practically free traffic. The most popular type of organic traffic is from search engines like Google, Bing, and DuckDuckGo. Paid traffic, on the other hand, comes to your website after you pay for advertising promotions on social media, search engines, and blog.
Paid traffic
Such traffic is easier to get because it involves advertising on sources that are guaranteed to drive views and clicks to your website. For example, if you type a common phrase like “website hosting” into Google, you’ll see several web hosting providers advertising their services before you even see an organic link. The downside is that this type of traffic can be costly, especially when you’re targeting highly-competitive keywords and websites.
Tumblr media
Google Ads Traffic Academy where you can join and meet millions of affiliate users worldwide, over 28,000 direct click funnels that can generate high-quality traffic for your blog posts or any other sales landing pages for your affiliate niche. You can learn more at Google Ads Traffic Academy and know more in detail how to use paid traffic from 248 GEOs.
Tumblr media
Organic traffic
You don’t need to pay a dime for organic traffic, but it takes time to build, unlike paid traffic. Search engine optimization (SEO) is the most common way to get organic traffic. You should structure your website and posts in a way that makes them rank high on search engines. Use the right keywords, headings, image formats, etc. Backlinks from other websites also help build up organic traffic. The good thing about this type of traffic is that once you build it up, it has a lot of staying power, unlike paid traffic which disappears once you stop advertising.
disclaimer: this post contains affiliate links which means I may receive a small commission if you purchase using that link at no extra cost to you. and if you do, I appreciate you!
Okay, let's get back to the main point, which is how I got my first affiliate sale. I began advancing by writing blog content for my affiliate niches, somewhat recently of February 2021. The primary spot that I used to direct people to my blog was using gathering traffic.I joined a few specialty discussions connected with my blog specialties, like Blackhatworld, Fighter Gathering, and Computerized Point. What I did is simply helping other people discussion individuals in the gathering by responding to their inquiries. I was very suspicious since I didn't get sufficient traffic to my blog from Gathering advertising. As may be obvious, the quantity of guests coming to my blog is around 2-7 individuals each day. That traffic all approaching from gathering promoting.
Tumblr media
I realized the traffic isn't a lot of on the grounds that I didn't make a string on the discussion and just advanced my blog through my gathering mark in under seven days. To put it another way, I failed to consistently participate actively in the forum each day! I want to believe that I can improve from now on! Haha. The subsequent traffic source I used to drive traffic is Quora. Equivalent to gathering advertising. What I did is responding to inquiries on Quora to construct a standing and get traffic to my blog. Here you can see on my Quora details that I just response six inquiries altogether.
Tumblr media
Something great really happened after discovering quora was the best ways of getting more leads.
Traffic Source I used to Make My Most memorable Affiliate sales
At first, I chose a forum and Quora as my sources of traffic because both can quickly bring free traffic to our website. It took me one month to procure my most memorable associate deal since I began advancing my blog. We should profound jump into how I directed people to my blog post.
As I have explained previously, my first traffic source is Forum Marketing. I drove traffic to my blog through forums related to my blog niches, such as Blackhatworld, Digital Point, and Warrior Forum. Some forums will allow us to have a signature line on our post. The signature line can be used to drive traffic by promoting your blog post content with hyperlink text. I did this by commenting on several threads to increase the chance the forum members saw my signature. If they're interested in the topic on my signature line, they will click it.
As to date quora is the free traffic source and you'll get free traffic by answering questions and writing posts about certain topics asked.
So in Conclusion>>> Getting your most memorable Affiliate Sale is conceivable despite the fact that with just a limited quantity of traffic. Taking a gander at the traffic on my Google logical, obviously both discussion and Quora can assist with bringing free traffic quicker to your blog. Thus, I could procure my most memorable offshoot deals with a couple of guests to my blog.So the key here is zeroing in on driving rush hour gridlock and making more blog entries as another blogger. This is the main thing you want to zero in on toward the start. Try not to contemplate making your own item or email stream crusade yet, when you have predictable traffic to your blog. It's not beyond any good time to begin fabricating your email records.P.S: Assuming you like my response, sympathetic upvote it and follow me for getting any further updates from my responses. If you want to know more about becoming successful in affiliate marketing. I've an affiliate marketing course and affordable one. I'll guide you step by step and start generating your first sales.
