Have you ever heard of the phrase distance makes the heart grow fonder? Well in your case that statement is very much true.

You'd just arrived at the airport and your flight was due to be boarding any minute yet you had a sickening feeling in your gut with every step you took closer to that gate. You were about third in line, your passport open on the page with your picture, when suddenly tealisation hits you like a freight train.

This was wrong.

You shouldn't be here.

You should be with him.

So you closed your passport and bolted murmuring 'excuse me' every time someone got in your way because you were now a man with a mission. The wheels of your suitcase could barely keep up as they groaned from your frantic dragging, it was now that you were thanking the lords above that you only travelled with one item of luggage.

You made your way into the main foyer and ran towards the main entrance trying to flag a taxi.

"Scusi, do you need help?" A small woman asked from the side of you seeing your struggle of trying to get a taxi.

"Yes, I need to be in Crema as soon as possible but none of them seem to notice me." You say with a pitiful tone laced with spite.

"Crema?" She asked.

"Yes, I need to visit someone very special to me before it is too late." You reply looking downcast.

"I am going to Crema, I will give you a lift." She said sympathising with your unfortunate situation.

"Really! Thank you so much I'll be forever grateful!" You say in disbelief of this womans generosity.

She just smiles and nods her head. You couldn't resist and wrapped your clumsy frame around her in a loving hug, she laughed and patted your back.

"Come on we must leave if we want to make it by the end of today" She demands ushering you towards the car.

You place yourself in the passenger seat as she gets in the drivers and quickly pulls out of the hellish car park. Your leg bounces up and down in nervous excitement. What if he never forgives you for leaving? What if you were just a summer fling?

What if he didn't want you to return?

"Tell me about them" She says.

And that's how you spend the seemingly never ending journey, rambling on about the boy you had fallen in love with in a scarily short amount of time. The conversation wasn't completely one sided as she tells you about a husband she has waiting for her in her small residence in Crema and how she's been so excited to see him and her little boy - Lèon.

You ride was filled with a love sick aura as you discussed those who you loved dearly and she didn't even blink when you mentioned your lover was a boy. By the end of the journey you'd made a new friend.

The beautiful place of Crema began to appear with its trees lined paths and cobbled roads, outside was nearly dark now as the last 5 hours had been pure travelling with your new companion. She drive the car through the quiet streets before she reached the dusty path that had begun to feel like home over this summer.

She stopped the car and turned to look at you.

"Go in there and you tell that boy you love him and if no one accepts you here come to mine and I'll gladly make up the spare bedroom." She says smiling widely at you.

You lean over and hug her tightly.

"Thank you so much, you don't know how much this means to me." You tell her.

Before you could say anything else though she shooed you out the car wishing you luck.

Nerves started creeping in along with all the negative outcomes and scenarios playing on repeat through your mind as you approached the doors of the Italian villa. Your hand clenched into a fist - your knuckles pale - and knocked on the door thrice.

The sound of rushed footsteps and the noise of blanketed voices talking in Italian caused you to stand up straight with a nervous smile etched on your lips. The door opened and the woman known as Mrs Perlman or as she insisted you called her Anella, had her face turned away from you still in conversation with Mr Perlman.

As soon as she turned her head towards you she let out a gasp and then smiled widely pulling you in for a big hug.

"What are you doing here (___)!?" She said happily.

You were unsure of what to say.

"I ..... couldn't leave?" You said with anticipation.

"(___) my son is in love with you and if you are in love with him then I give you my blessing" She poke quietly and you couldn't help but let tears begin to pool along your water line.

"Go, he's in his room, he hasn't stopped crying since you left." She told you.

With that you bolted up the stairs running towards the door that you'd acquainted yourself with, knocking gently.

"Leave me alone" A voice that sounded almost like a whimper said in Italian.

You turn the handle and peak your head around the door seeing Elio's thin form curled in the bed you used to sleep in, your shirt clutched tightly in his hands.

"Go away" His voice was so tired and fragile.

You went to the bed perching yourself in the space by his upper body. You saw the redness of his cheeks and the paths of the tears leading from his closed eyes, it broke your heart to see his agonised body lying tense in front of you.

Your hand approached his hair and you brushed a stray curl off his forehead, only then did he open his eyes.

As soon as he saw you he leapt into your arms and collapsed into sobs, fingernails dragging along your arms, trying to draw your body impossibly close.

"(___)" He said softly almost as if he wasn't sure you were really there.

"I'm here my love." You whisper moving your arms to wrap around his waist and resting your head on top of his.

You sat like this for what seemed like seconds but was actually nearly half an hour, he just kept whispering your name and clawing your arms and back while sobbing desperately in your arms. Finally his cries subsided into sniffles and he relaxed slightly in your arms.

He looked up at you and you raised your hands to cradle his face in your palms.

"Why are you here?" He asked as if he was scared of your answer.

"Because I love you and I can't imagine my life without you in it." You said before leaning in and pressing a gentle kiss onto his lips which conveyed all the emotions you couldn't put into words.

He kissed back before pulling away with a smile.

"I love you too. Promise me you won't leave again." He asked.

"Of course not, I plan to stay as long as you'll have me." You respond, every word being the truth.

And that's how your life went, a life full of romance and happiness, one where you never left each other for anything that wasn't completely necessary.

It was just you and Elio.

First impression:

l'm just going to talk about movie Alex, because I have other thoughts on comic Alex. I knew Lucas Till from other things like Hannah Montana and the YBWM music video, and also because after the drama with Ezra Miller everyone wanted LT to play the new movie flash, so I remember recognising this face when I first watched FC and thinking "oh yeah he's cute", and I liked his whole broody demeanour, but like, that was it. He became an honorary fave just because I knew he was around the mansion when Peter would've been young, so he was in a lot of the 'Cherik raise Peter' fics.

Impression now:

Jamie will tell you that I always develop a love for the more 'obscure’ characters in media, the smaller amount of screen time, the more likely I am to become obsessed. And so when I went back to rewatch the movies I was just pulled in when it came to Alex. I thought he was so interesting with soooo much potential, his dark but almost juvenile demeanour was like a hook, and I loooove his relationship with Charles. It's also amazing to get to experience a movie you love with a new found appreciation for a certain character because you notice so many new things. Every acting choice LT made for this role l've picked up on now, not to sound dramatic but every little detail helps fuel how I see Alex as a character/person, which is someone with so much complexity and depth.

Idea for a story:

I have a lot of ideas for Alex in the works, they're mainly on hold just because I went to uni this past September so l've been taking a fanfiction writing/reading break. My current main fic that l'm working on (that Jamie will be happy about), is Alex meeting and bonding with six/seven year old Scott after Vietnam. You'll know because you've read my fic but I picture Alex's relationship to be very strained with his parents, but he's making an effort because he's like, 89% sure Scott's going to be a mutant and he doesn't want him to have to deal with the same reactions he got all by himself.

I also have ideas around an OC of mine but I don't tend to talk about my OCs very much.

Unpopular opinion:

Hmm. The Alex fandom is very small so I don't think there are many 'unpopular' opinions. If we circle back to comic Alex, l'm not really a big fan of any of his romantic relationships. I like the characters respectively, I just don't tend to like them together.

Also I just prefer Alex to Scott, which isn't unpopular but it'll piss Jamie juice off :)

Favourite relationship:

Love love love looooove his platonic mentor-student relationship with Charles.

Favourite Headcanon:

Love the idea of Alex picking up on Charles’ British slang while living at the mansion between FC and DoFP. He wouldn’t say them in a British accent, but he’d say things like jacket potato, not baked potato (the second chapter of that fic will be dropping soon), and football instead of soccer, and I feel like Charles would really appreciate it because it would be something Raven used to do. Although I see her doing it in more of a teasing way compared to Alex, Alex is just adapting to his surroundings.

Hank McCoy:

First impression:

I remember quite liking Hank when I first watched FC, I don’t think I had a huge opinion on him but I did enjoy his presence. I liked his bashful relationship with Raven and I think Nicholas Hoult played the character well. He was like in between Alex and then Cherik and Peter for me, I cared about his presence because he was often involved with my top three, but he wasn’t obscure enough for me to develop a proper obsession with.

Impression now:

Kind of the same to be honest, if anything I think I may have gone off him a little bit. Not because of anything huge, but the way he is with Raven in that one scene in FC irks me a little. I do understand his reasoning, as someone with a physical ‘deformity’, I’d do anything to fix it, but I’m also like dude don’t tell this girl she’s not naturally gorgeous-. But overall I do still like him, and I did like his ending in DP too. (Even though I don’t like DP.)

Favourite moment:

Either when he and Logan are fighting in the foyer in DoFP or just his involvement with the montage in FC. Him being like “am I still a bozo?” to Alex, like bro what do you think the obnoxious little blond is gonna say-.

Idea for a story:

I like the idea of potentially writing a small oneshot about Alex and Hank having a conversation, maybe just before Alex leaves for Vietnam. I feel like it’s the only time they’d ever have a vulnerably emotional moment together. Alex wouldn’t admit to Charles he’s worried about going, and Hank would’ve picked up on enough of Alex’s social behaviours to realise it.

Unpopular opinion:

Not sure if this is unpopular but I don’t really ship him endgame with Raven. I ship them as a midgame, but if she had lived in the new timeline I don’t think they would’ve lasted, I think they’re a classic case of right person, wrong time. They were at totally different stages of life.

Favourite relationship:

Love his annoying brotherly relationship with Alex, and his mentor relationship with Charles.

Favourite headcanon:

Sean was the one who got Hank to smoke his first joint, and Hank was so concerned about what it would do to his brain/mutation that he caved and told Charles, as if they aren’t all adults who can make their own informed decisions. I don’t like reducing characters to a caricature, but the idea of Hank shyly telling Charles he’s stoned and has some minor concerns is so funny to me.

Patricia Thornton:

First impression:

In typical Summer fashion, Thornton wasn’t a favourite when I started MacGyver, that was solely Mac and Jack. I just thought she was pretty and badass, and I really enjoyed her banter with Jack. That was kind of all I thought on her.

Impression now:

I. Love. Her. Literally she is such an icon. I came to appreciate her pretty quickly because I binged a lot of MacGyver while I was recovering from my hip surgery, and then when I found out about the traitor storyline I was devastated. I love her snark, her facial expressions, how much of an amazing spy she actually was? I still love her relationship with Jack but I’ve also come to appreciate how she was with Mac and Riley. She wasn’t a helicopter boss/parent, but it’s so clear that beneath the sternness and consistent annoyance, she loved those brats so much.

Favourite moment:

During the Christmas episode, at the end, she’s talking to Mac by the Christmas tree and it’s a clear moment of how she wasn’t just the boss of this team, she was also a friend. She kisses Jack’s cheek, she lets Bozer touch her, she and Mac talk about Christmas gifts, I love it. (I also love her in the fourth episode of season one where she’s beating the shit out of people.

Idea for a story:

I want to write more of her and Mac, I like the idea of her going to see him in the hospital after the incident in S1E1, but he’s at a generic hospital in Italy, and when she and Jack arrive the doctors are like “are you guys family to the patient? 🤔” and they’re like “uh…”. And Jack is like “oh yeah, we’re his aunt and uncle, this is my wife” on a whim and Thornton looks at him like she’s going to take off her shoe and shove the heel up his nose.

Unpopular opinion:

She’s better than Matty. That’s ragingly unpopular but to me she just is, I prefer her dynamic with everyone compared Matty’s character to dynamic with them. And there’s no problem with Matty, I just haven’t warmed to her, like at all. I don’t find banter in her sternness, whereas with Thornton it was more of an exasperation.

Favourite relationship:

I love all of her relationships with the main team, Mac’s is probably my favourite, but I do love how she is with Riley, and Bozer. They’re like her exhausting children and she’s just DONE. And of course her love-hate relationship with Jack is top notch.

Favourite headcanon:

I’ve never talked about this before but I have this deep rooted lore idea that Thornton had a lung transplant as a child. There’s even more lore behind why but I won’t bore you with that, but anyways I have this hc that while on a mission with Jack when they’re first working together, he finds her immunosuppressants in her backpack, and because she hasn’t declared them to anyone on the team, except Oversight ofc, as nobody knows about her lungs, Jack’s first thought is “…she’s dealing drugs.” And confronts her about it, and she’s just like “😒”.

After that, only Jack knows about it, and I like to think that while she’s in prison, he goes to see her and even though he’s mad because he thinks she’s a traitor, he’s still like “they’re giving you your pills for your lungs right?”

Warren Worthington III:

First impression:

I don’t really remember my first impression of Warren. I remember in TLS, when we see him trying to cut out his wings, my first thought was “WOAH IM UNCOMFY”, but overall I think for me he was just sort of…there?

Impression now:

I like him a lot more in TLS than I do in Apocalypse, in Apocalypse I find him a bit obnoxious, but I like the complexities of his situation in TLS, as much as I don’t like the movie itself. I think it’s really interesting to see his development throughout that movie considering he has such little screen time.

Favourite moment:

I do actually quite like the scene where he flies away from his father before he’s forced to have the mutation cure. Very powerful and I think the actor did a nice job.

Idea for a story:

I don’t have one off the top of my head but I like the idea of something to do with he and Alex talking, for my universe they both have somewhat ‘unsupportive’ parents, so that could be an interesting exploration.

Unpopular opinion:

I can’t say I have one because I don’t know the character well enough. Maybe that he kind of annoyed me in Apocalypse? Like I get why he was the way he was, I just didn’t feel emotionally connected to him. I wish they could’ve fleshed it out a little bit more.

Favourite relationship:

I have no idea.

Favourite headcanon:

Again, not really any idea cause I don’t know enough about him, but I’d love to hear a few of yours sometime.

Things I love about Miguel O’Hara and find funny about his comics. Spoilers for his comic in the 90s and a few from ACTSV

- This man cares so much for Lyla. While everyone sees her as just AI, he actually like talks to her as a person. There’s a scene where I think her code starts to break but he asks her to form an opinion. And she tells him she can’t cause she’s not human. Yet he tells her “you can do it, that’s it…” like 😭😭😭 (meaning if you like Miguel, you’d have a praise kink)

- mans also didn’t know where poor people lived in his world…in his comics if you didn’t have a job or made a shit ton of money, you lived “downtown” aka the ground. It made me sigh cause that means he had that rich boy awakening moment when he fell down to the ground.

- loves Gabriel sm. Growing up he was that big brother that held Gabe when their folks fought. He didn’t care that they are only half brothers. 😭 Gabe said that Miguel used to cuddle him when their parents fought when they slept so he could keep him calm🥺🥺

- MANS HAS A POTTY MOUTH BABFBDHS Every volume he’s swearing and it’s funny cause I’m comics they really couldn’t so when he says “I’m cleaning up your shocking mess” in the movie it made me snicker. Shock = Fuck.

- Miguel looooves Dana (Ik he cheats later but I haven’t seen why) but he’s so in love with her it makes me sappy. There’s a scene where he has to save Dana and Tyler (I think) from Omega and says he will trade for Dana and Omega can keep Tyler. Ik it’s cause Tyler is the one that turns on Miguel, but as Spider-Man you think you would bargain for both hostages, no he wants his fiancé back in one piece.

- had his dramatic identity crisis novela style in the rain. Why is it always in the rain.

- he journals!! Well more like makes recordings with Lyla. She turns into like a lil reporter with glasses as he speaks and talks him through feelings🥺 again their relationship makes me sad that she’s only AI cause honestly…he needs a Lyla. (I don’t like Dana…SHE FUCKING UGHHH she has history with Gabe)

But yeah. Also the humor that he has, it’s that Spider-Man humor in fights but he’s more sarcastic/flat with it. Like our other spider people who laugh and have that upbeat tone, mans does not. Plus he was hella nervous on his first villain chases literally went “I need to say something cool” and mans said “hi…that was not cool”

like listen we all know the lore of Vide Noir we saw the movie this is an album about Buck Vernon but before i knew about any of that it felt to me like two opposing perspectives head to head about this heartbreaker girl that that Lord Huron LOOOOVES to sing about. however that is a tangent for another day (and if you wanted to humor me and ask me about my initial thoughts on vide noir outside of the lore id be delighted)

but like The Balancers Eye is such a different personality from the beginning of the album??? we hear mention of "an ancient master" and curses as well as Back From The Edge being a MUCH different speed from the first couple of songs. but it feels like The Balancer coming immediately after is this completely seperate entity and it is SOOOO fucked up and weird and i LOVE IT. SO MUCH let me get lyrics

RIGHT off the bat in this song we hear "heaven never ever heard a word i said, ive cried enough to raise the dead" NOW WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT SUPPOSED TO MEAN. and the lyrics "heaven wont let me in, I dont know why // noone ever loved you half as much as I" MAKES ME INSANE because it is SELF EXPLANITORY this entity is FORSAKEN from the sheer VOLUME of love it contains and the implications of being FORBIDDEN from death and FORBIDDEN from heaven because of LOVE. may 2002 is just... so relatable to me? its a peculiar lonely weirdgirl spin on frankenstein and its just... yeah. almost painful to watch

crash 1996 is obviously one of my fav movies of all time i talk about it all the time on here but its just so perfect in my opinion. hits the perfect sweet spot between strange and erotic

the teenage apocalypse trilogy by gregg araki + the living end 1992... araki is again a huge influence in my life and my fav director so ofc i had to include him... the dialogues are iconic and very funny and offbeat but also strangely deep and sad. the outfits are great. the music is always perfect (and the source of most of my current music taste). the stylishness and the what the fuck factor make the whole thing unforgettable

past lives 2023 ive seen a couple of days ago and its soooo. quiet and devastating and about missed connections and the nature of human relationships. beautiful

phantom thread 2017 is a classic in my eyes and so tender in a very fucked up way i love it so much

velvet goldmine 1996 i mean its my fav movie of all time... fake biopic about david bowie and a bunch of other stars of the glam rock era. insane and perfect and with my fav soundtrack of a movie ever and todd haynes is a genius in my opinion and since i mentioned him... his last movie may december 2023 was so good. its heavy though!!

withnail and i 1987... my god. this is apparently seen as a cult classic comedy in the uk which is crazy to me because it sort of made me miserable. it is very funny but also when its not its bleak as fuck i love it

Supernatural is depressing as a rewatch. It has its fun moments, but that show hurts. It wasn’t depressing when I first watched it, but over time…. The rewatches are especially depressing. You just know they aren’t going to get their happy ever after since the life of a hunter is absolute hell. Well, I guess no happy ever after in their actual life, they do get to enjoy heaven together. So yeah, I get you there. What shows do you usually rewatch instead? Have you seen Parks & Recs? It seems like you would like it! Such a comfort show.

Yeah, the Supernatural rewatch can be hard. I have to say though, I’ve rewatched the show more since it ended, because I liked the end and knowing the show ended in a way that made me happy (well, it was obviously a fucking tragedy, but like, narratively speaking, it was a good ending because this entire show is a horror/tragedy), it made it way easier to enjoy the rewatches. The knowledge that in the end, they get an ending that honors the life they led and that they got a period of happiness on earth without apocalyptic disasters and then happiness in heaven. Occasionally, like every few years, I get the bug and start a rewatch from the start, and then at some point, which can vary, I start skipping eps 😅 Mostly though I have a few… thematic rewatches I do.

I either do a Fun Episode rewatch, including eps like Hell House, Monster Movie, Bad Day at Black Rock, The French Mistake (controversial, I know, I know), Mint Condition etc. Then there’s the Extreme Brothering rewatch, which is Sam and Dean being codependent little soulmates and just brothering all over the place, like Scarecrow, The Usual Suspects, Red Meat, Safe House, etc. Sometimes I also rewatch early season Winchesters vs Law Enforcement, which is fun and some really good episodes. So there’s room for rewatches, but except for the Fun Episodes, it’s not really comforting.

I do enjoy Parks and Recs, mostly. Tom is a lot, especially in the early seasons; I don’t do well with that particular brand of womanizing character, and I had to fight my way through season one, but then they really hit their stride. I love Leslie’s and Ron’s friendship, and generally a lot of th friendships and romances in the show are just really well done. I really disliked Andy in season one, but he got good with April. Ron and April is adorable and of course, Ben is just a gem in whatever combo.

I do rewatch Leverage a lot, Sophie is a queen, I loooove the OT3 and watching evil rich people get what they deserve is just very cathartic right now. Plus, I love a good heist and the new characters in the reboot are actually great. Maybe I should rewatch White Collar next...

Recently, I rewatched the Good Place and Schitt’s Creek, though I do have to fast forward through the more annoying scenes with Roland and Moira, sometimes they get a little much 😅

Sometimes, I rewatch old Crime shows, the early seasons of Bones and Castle, before they went too far off the rails lol. Like all procedural shows, they somehow think they need to go bigger every season, with bigger and badder villains, and it just gets ridiculous when an NYPD homicide detective needs to save New York from a bomb and Homeland only sends someone to liaison. Well, you know, more ridiculous than it is anyway. There’s a sweet spot, and small procedural shows saving cities/states/the world ain’t it.

I do also rewatch movies a lot, old romcoms, old action movies, Star Wars and Marvel when it was still good. Easy viewing. And now I just sound really old and crotchety…

I also like new stuff! And sometimes, when I have enough spoons or the right company, I even watch more serious and heavy stuff. It depends a little on whatever is available on streaming, I don't have all services all the time, so sometimes I'm limited in my choices.
