i hope your last tag wasn't sarcastic because i for one would really like to hear more details about how mimi and the bleck gang sounded in the original dialogue (i don't know where to find this stuff and there's always been misinformation abound in the fanbase)
OMG...! omg ok straightens jacket. fixes hair. WELL IN THAT CASE.......!!!
i used to sit down and translate random pm lines all the time back in da day, but i have no idea where i jotted them all down but i will try scrawling a few things i remember off the top of my head... i am going to start off strong w dimentio, i think a lot of ppl already know he speaks in a fairly feminine-way-for-a-man, with ♡'s and ~'s n all... he also has lil variations of referring to the cast (eg: L-rin, mademoiselle peach. he drops this habit by the end of the game, simply calling them by name) generally polite, mixed w some french. there is also this infamous line that i see a lot of both jpn fans/lpers going ?!?! at:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
「フフフ…キミはボクだけのものだ…ルイージ! だから一緒に…」
^ for anyone who wants to play arnd w google translate lawll. in eng, he simply says, 'i have you now…luigi!!' or something. but here i think he's saying 'hehehe, you belong only to me…luigi! so, let's do this together'. i've watched lpers be like 'what?? does he like luigi/whoaaa yandere...' and his fanwiki is tagged under 'ホモ疑惑' so.....make of that what u will....yaoi wins <3
-
mimi uses 'atashi' to refer to herself, somewhat casual/feminine, speaks in third person in front of the count, and switches to an exaggerated kansai dialect when angered. basically the punk anime boy voice (the english trope equivalent would usually b a brooklyn or texan accent)
((i think the best examples i can think of that fit this archetype are aquarius from fairy tail(speaks in kansai when berating lucy, but speaks all cutesy in front of her bf), or keima's mum from twgok (speaks in a fairly pleasant way, switches to kansai when angered bc of her past of being involved in a biker gang.) maybe a better known one would be celestia ludenberg's whole situation, but I'm not sure if hers is kansai <--going off topic))
for perspective, like i mentioned, tape speaks in the exact same way. they even repeat similar crass phrases: " カクゴしとけや~!!" (which i think means 'be prepared/to die' IDK IN ALL HONESTY but they sound v similar in audio. which i think is fun ovo)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
her fanwiki brings up 'burriko' in re: to all that. it's a term for women who put on a childish act 'in front of men', but have a completely different personality in other settings. which i think is rlly inch resting.. the wiki page for this term calls this 'a set of tools employed to mask the self...' so i think it rlly adds an extra layer to the whole 'mimi acts fake to get what she wants' thing. slay honestly
Tumblr media
i'll try making a separate post of other small things i discovered...like, i know something mimi says to set peach off is calling her 'oba san' which i thought was a lil hysterical. anyway disclaimer im not a jpn speaker so i may not be the most reliable but ! this is just for fun anyway ! im rlly glad ur interested anon and i hope this was insightful to u !!!

did you ever share your thoughts on raiden’s jpn voice? this obvi goes against mgs lore but whatever, i have a half headcanon about mgr raiden’s voice being unnaturally/unrelentingly smooth and palatable, but that’s because of the voicebox he was given which means he can’t really stutter/mess up his sentences because it’s been automated?? just another depressing explanation for jpn raiden vs eng raiden
i haven't listened that much to it (haven't heard it at all in revengeance) but like. Not gonna lie to you. i HATE IT in mgs2. I hear that deep voice coming out of his mouth and i say who the fuck is that because that is not raiden. it just isn't. it works a liiiiiiittle better in mgs4 (and i give the va so many points for Sounds. i watched That Scene in japanese and WOW he makes the pain noises(tm) very very very well.) and well when it comes to 'raiden becomes god' then DAMN does it work ENTIRELY. 'ore wa kaminari, ame no keshin' DAMN RIGHT YOU ARE. (further observations on that: him using 'ore' has Fascinating implications on the gender front, also the english translation goes with 'the rain transformed' but from what i can tell (i am not fluent in japanese only learning so take this with a grain of salt) 'ame no keshin' would be more accurately translated as 'the personification of rain' or 'the rain incarnate'. which is so fucking cool.) but by and large i still prefer his english voice, especially in mgs2. just sounds more him.
also please elaborate on that headcanon! i'm not sure if i agree with it (but perhaps i will if i hear more) but it sounds very interesting

I definitely did not wait to get Fire Emblem Engage, haha. I was weirdly hyped about it, which was odd because I normally like a game story when it takes itself more seriously and Engage clearly does not take itself that seriously. But I downloaded it after work and played it all night, and I’m definitely more hooked on it than Three Houses. Which, again, is weird because Three Houses has so much worldbuilding that I normally also love.
It’s surprisingly solid so far. A solid call back to many other Fire Emblem games. And the gameplay is definitely less bogged down by the minigame and in between tasks upfront. When I play a Fire Emblem game, I’m in it for the combat and decent story and character interactions in between. I feel like Three Houses does really well on its world and cast but the combat portion takes a million years to get to.
On a different note, I definitely am itching to just. Switch the language to Japanese entirely. Engage’s localization isn’t as good as Three Houses. It’s a little more simplified than the Japanese version, I feel, and what the JPN voices say don’t match the translation a lot of the time. The vibe is also different between the two, not just the word choice. It’s super jarring. Also, the Japanese version takes itself seriously in the dialogue, where I feel like the FE games’ localizations usually try to throw some weird flavor/humor in there.
Only reason I’m reluctant to switch the languages is that there are a lot of mechanics in Fire Emblem these days and I don’t have the patience to read it all in JPN. In English, I just glance at the skill descriptions or instructions for the new mechanics and I’ve got it.
The mechanics I’m still learning but I was surprised to find that the weapon triangle is now actually really important with the break system…and you can’t just let Alear camp out front and bash through the front lines lol. If he goes up against lances he won’t even be able to counter attack. It’s a cool change, takes some getting used to though.
Only real disappointment so far is that they scaled back on the voice acting, which was a vast improvement going from Fates to Echoes to Three Houses. However, the animations are so good, the UI is also way easier to read and navigate than Three Houses. I still really like Awakening/Fates/Echoes in terms of their UI best but this is better than the last game.
However, trade off is that we have a MC who actually talks again so….I’ll take it. Though it’s not much different in terms of set up (you still play the MC and everyone reveres or supports you as The Most important person in all the land), it feels less weird because he/she actually talks and emotes and isn’t just along for the ride.
(Minor spoilers)
Plot wise, congrats, Engage is arguably sillier than Fates but managed to do the whole “just met my mother but oh no she sacrificed herself to save me” bit waaay better. It was actually sad.
Also, I definitely gave Sigurd’s ring to Alfred…it was too good to resist. I love my horse units okay. I need to relive the days of 9-10 move lol.

𝔑𝔬𝔱𝔥𝔦𝔫𝔤.
Today I woke up thinking a lot about the t-shirt designed by Kaoru (2020) and how awesome it is, plus how much I like it (even though it’s white lol). I’d had the religious text used in the design ―I don’t know exactly what it’s called― for quite some time now, but I never stopped to look at it closely, so propelled by my mind I wanted to make a post. Honestly I use Tumblr to store stuff, I don’t expect to be read or to get reblogs/likes because it’s not something I’m interested in but I want to make it clear that if anyone reads this... I try to compile facts and provide sources in case someone with better knowledge can clear up any misunderstandings I write.
• Design.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Info provided by GBS (Galaxy Broad Shop).
As part of the Artist Support Project launched by GALAXY BROAD SHOP, DIR EN GREY has just announced new T-Shirt 100% produced by the band members!
The theme of the design produced by 薫 (Guitar) is “Time”. The setlist of a live show held back in 1997, handwritten by 薫, is printed on the front of the T-shirt. The white color makes it perfect for this hot season.
If you look closely you can easily read some words/sentences in both French and Latin despite the overlapping image of the band on stage.
Tumblr media
Image source (info abt this below).
The text printed on the t-shirt design comes from "Office de la Semaine Sainte Latin et François, selon le missel et breviaire romain; avec l'explication des cérémonies de l'eglise, 1723 (Office of the Holy Week Latin and French, according to the missal and Roman breviary; with the explanation of the ceremonies of the church, 1723)" thanks to the translator. By the way, I don't plan to translate anything that comes from Latin/French because I don't speak those languages, but if you're interested in knowing what it says, a copy/paste into Google translator might work (that's what I did).
With that in mind, the first words/sentences that can be read in the design are the last ones in a segment called "A Matines":
Source (1825, Pag. 257).
Ant. Confundantur et revereantur quiærunt animam meam, ut auferant eam.
Ant. Que ceux qui cherchoient à m'ôter la vie, soient couverts de confusion et de honte.
Then a short excerpt from Psalm 39.
The "introduction" of this Psalm (and the structure of the text seen in the design) comes from this document (1723, pag. 313) although at other times the sentences/words are written as in the document referenced above (1825).
P S E A U M E 39
Expectans expectavi Dominum: & intendit mihi.
If you checked the documents out of curiosity you will have noticed that they are basically scans, copy/paste did not work at all in this case to extract the text so I did it manually so, maybe, there is some typing error because some letters were ambiguous to identify, for example some F and S.
Continuing with the design, Kaoru added the setlist for June 14, 1997 at Rock May Kan ( 目黒鹿鳴館  ). He even asked on DIR MOBILE and Aknot for the setlist of that date. Here a tweet.

To keep it simple because I can't remember the exact moment (or moments) in which he spoke about this venue I have to mention that despite being a small place it has been important because of the amount of bands that have performed there. Even on January 22, 2021, according to setlist.fm, DIR EN GREY recorded there 爆音上映会『目黒鹿鳴館GIG』.
Due to the COVID crisis, last year many venues suffered financially (like many other businesses). Rock May Kan had a campaign to raise funds with the sale of merchandise and the collaboration of other artists. If you are interested you can check their twitter for more information, it is in Japanese and for the same reason I don't dare to give more information about it since I don't know the language. I must also say that I don't know the use given to the funds raised with the t-shirts designed by DIR EN GREY and I am adding this additional information about Rock May Kan because of the relation of the design made by Kaoru and the events associated to the venue last year.
Last but not least, verifying information from DIR EN GREY's official website and DIR EN GREY's WIKI (a reliable and practical source) plus adding a little guesswork....
June 14, 1997 was DIR EN GREY's first one man show (ワンマンライブ) at Rock May Kan. The day before, on June 13, 1997, a secret show titled Neo Behind The Mask took place there. However, if there is any mistake in this please tell me.
And Rock May Kan received two Kaoru t-shirt💜.

That's all. I hope this information will change your life (?) lmao.

FF7 Remake ~ Translation Matters (9) - That’s the perfect type for you I’d say.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
At Aerith’s house, Cloud has a memory of or imagines a conversation with his mom. He looks very sad in this scene, imo. Mom-Cloud muses that she’d feel better if he had a “good” (decent, nice, proper) girlfriend in a city full of vices. Then she says:
Jpn: 「あんたにはねぇ ちょっとお姉さんで、あんたをグイグイ引っ張っていく。そんな子がぴったりだと思うんだけどね。」 My trans: “For you, someone just a bit more mature and lady-like, who’d firmly lead the way/take you along. That’s the perfect type for you I’d say.” Official Eng: “An older, more mature girl that could keep you on the straight and narrow - and tell you when you’re being a silly goose. That’s the perfect type for you I’d say.” Commentary: Clearly this scene is supposed to make you consider Aerith as a serious romantic option but I’m musing over a few things. What does Cloud’s mother mean by “chotto onee-san”? Though Cloud is mentally a teenager (so both girls are more mature), technically only Aerith is older than him. I think this is left ambiguous but the English version makes it unequivocally about being “older.” I think it misses the point Claudia is making... To back up a bit, “ちょっとお姉さん,” literally means “a little bit like a big sister” but colloquially it means someone lady-like, mature, and with natural (mainstream) beauty and fashion choices. The “big sister-type” is even a distinct fashion genre targeted to college students and office workers. Google お姉系 for some examples. This is exactly the type of “proper” good girl that a mom would want. I feel like this aspect is more important than the literal age of the girlfriend which is why I would have translated this as “mature and lady-like” (or even just “grown-up”).
I’m also confused by the additional info given in the official English version. グイグイ引っ張っていく has nothing to do with calling someone a silly goose. Presumably, a proper young woman who is firmly guiding/leading/pulling her immature boyfriend along will keep him away from those temptations that mom worries about - so I appreciate that “straight and narrow” addition to the English version. But “silly goose”? What in the world? Did they add that for this scene to highlight Aerith as a romantic choice? She would definitely call Cloud a silly goose. Did they add that as a kind of gloss on Cloud-mom’s casual chatty voice? Weird choices.   There are a few more interesting bits I found watching the whole Cloud and Aerith section. One thing is, Aerith speaks so politely to the flowers! She uses desu/masu form for them. I thought it was cute.

Do you mind posting a list of all the good otome games you've played or are really interested in? Or if that's too complicated, maybe a list of your top 10 favourites? I see you posting about them often and I've been wanting to try some of them because...hello hot guys galore...😱😱😱
you don’t know how much i love gushing about otome games and my harem of husbandos (also lmao i’ve outed my terrible tastes here)
pc games
steam prison // so so good, definitely recommend! my only complaint is that you can’t romance Good Boi finn (by proxy depriving us of that wonderful cyrus/sachsen banter), but i guess i can settle for adage lmao. hits a very good balance between humour and seriousness, but it’s a really long game to complete
nightshade // honestly, one of my absolute favourites ever. ost is kickass, sprites are gorgeous, and the plot is pretty good. they’re literally all such good beans ugh i love them all. depending on the play order you do, and whether you do the bad ends or not, it can be not-too-painful sad to wow-just-rip-my-heart-out-and-stomp-on-it sad. goemon is honestly the best though, just saying
hakuouki // i’d recommend both games, but if you can’t afford it, then get edo blossoms, since that’s where most of the romance is. also, they get their western uniforms in that one!!! hachiro is still my best boi (sorry okita, heisuke, harada, and everyone else). suuuuuper long to play through, i think it took me ~60 hrs to complete everything, but it’s a labour of love
amnesia // okay, i trashtalk this a lot, but it’s a solid game except for when they did my boi toma dirty >:c ikki is definitely best boi though. some routes are better than others (read: toma’s route is pretty meh while everyone else has pretty great ones), but ukyo arguably has the best and saddest one. i feel like this is almost an otome staple at this point lmao
nameless // another classic and favourite of mine! yandere galore, more than a little heartbreaking, and wow just wow overall. they’re all such sweet guys (yes, tei and ??? included), and the side characters are all fantastic and very memorable. it’s kinda long though, i think 50+ hrs to finish everything, but oh my god is it worth it. i teared up quite a few times
ozmafia!! // a controversial choice, but i loved all the characters in it, and in the end, the plot did pay off. it just feels like a very cramped and rushed game at times, but the characters make up for it, honestly. i’m just mad over how they did my boi hamelin so fricking dirty #JusticeForHamelin #HamelinDidNothingWrong yes i’m still salty about it
cinderella phenomenon // highly recommend this one since it’s free! it’s probably my favourite oelvn to date -- beautiful art, great storyline, and wonderful characters except when they did my boi varg so so dirty :c the last 2 routes are definitely more painful than the first 3, and way more important to the plot.
the rose of segunda //another oelvn i highly recommend! pretty, a great read, and lovable characters. there’s a secret romance too, and holy god it was so good! frederique and mc are so great together, and i honestly fell so hard for leopold because w o w  i love me an ambitious man like him
monochrome heaven* // i have so many feelings about this one, but i’ll still recommend it lol. it’s very...depressing and can get difficult to read at times. honestly, it says a lot when the worst boi turns out to be the best boi. i remember just feeling so hollow after finishing the game, but it was worth the hours i invested
‘till death do us part* // a very questionable addition to this list, but i really liked it. marcus and jack are probably the most ‘romantic’ of the bunch, but i guess it’s not really an otome game
boyfriend to death 1 & 2* // 2 more questionable choices a la the above, but i enjoyed them both. lawrence, damien, and strade were my favourite guys
mobile games
ikemen sengoku // l o o k, i’m a sucker for the sengoku era, beautiful art, and great casting choices for voices okay??? i like playing softer and more light-hearted games sometimes, and this is the perfect game for that. honestly, every single guy is likable and none of them treat mc terribly (yes, including the yandere, the snek, and the playboy).
ikemen revolution // honestly, the same as the above. a great light read, lovable cast, and beautiful art. also, super stoked for mousse atlas to get over here because i’ve already decided that i’m completely in love with him
ikemen vampire // yeah, i know this isn’t out yet in english, but from what i played of jpn and what i’ve read of translations, i love it already. kinda feels like fate meets otome, and i love all the character designs, voices, and concepts
samurai love ballad party // like ikemen sengoku, but angstier lmao. i don’t really like the art and the sprites, but the story and characters are great, so i don’t really mind. i just wish my faves would stop being such disasters (ieyasu, sakuya, nobuyuki, kotaro)
love and producer/mr love queen’s choice // HAVE I TOLD YOU ABOUT MY LORD AND SAVIOUR BAI QI/GAVIN???? if you’ve played love nikki, it’s the same kind of grind, but i don’t even care??? the cards are beautiful??? the bois are all so wonderful and cute and perfect (yes, even shady af scientist)???? have i told you how wonderful and perfect my husband bai gege is??? also, download the japanese voice pack, the eng dub is kinda crappy
mystic messenger // so time-consuming, but so addicting lol. very fun, surprisingly dark, and all the characters are great (except for rika, we all hate rika). 707 is my home boi, but saeran is fantastic and i demand a proper unknown route because i want to get terrified by this lovely edgy angsty kid
my last first kiss // i can sell this in 3 words -- childhood friend romance. like, that’s my jam right there. i love the guys and their relationships with mc (fussy ayato is so cute, and mako and taka are so so sweet with mc). super fun and sweet read
lust in terror manor* // an elusive horror otome! it’s too bad it never got properly completed, but i guess there’s some kind of closure? translation’s kinda crappy, but good enough to read. rui and naoto were kinda meh, but hayato was the best boi, sorry i don’t make the rules.
several shades of sadism* // okay i can explain -- i love trashmen, i love guys with serious emotional baggage, and i love guys with flaws that make them oh so very real. minato is my favourite trashbag and i actually almost cried during his route because even though he’s an asshole, he’s really trying his best
cinderella contract* // this is where you realize i have no taste/standards whatsoever. trashy, i know, but goddamn i’m so invested in this. yuri is the trashiest of them all, and therefore he’s my husband sorry i don’t make the rules
princess of the moon* // ah yes, the trashiest of the trashy and i’m so ashamed i read this, let alone enjoy it as much as i do. very very smutty but i’m disappointed my boi dean didn’t get released on the og app
(*) -- game contains dubcon/noncon and just very questionable content in general. not for the faint of heart at all

haru*hana vol.59 ASTRO Interview
ASTRO will finally have their Japan Debut on April 2019. On February 2019, (ASTRO) announced it on their Guerilla event for an Apparel store in Tokyo Shibuya.
Q: Any thoughts about the Guerilla Event?
MJ: I looked down and saw a lot of people came, because when we announced our debut in Japan, there were lots of cheers. I thought that many people won't come.
JinJin: When the elevator went up, I saw the performance infront of my eyes. (I thought that) There's nothing to be nervous of about the performance because it felt like I was practicing and believing in myself. In that road where people were passing by, they all watched us, I was touched.
Q: Our Japanese debut is coming up, I feel?
Sanha: "Please come to Japan" is what most of JPN Aroha's tell us. There'll be more chances for us to meet the fans when we debut. We also prepared very hard for our Japanese album so please listen to it a lot!
Rocky: AROHA will you come to see our stages or are you going to write? I felt sorry for not being able to reply to them one by one. I'd like to grow up and give a better performance in the future so that I can repay fans with the love they give to me.
Q: Are there any future plans in Japan?
Moonbin: Since the Guerilla Event was a fresh one for us, I'd like to do it again. As for me, I love animation (anime) and I'd like to go to an animation (anime) museum. I especially like One Piece, Naruto and Tokyo Ghoul.
Eunwoo: Since we're still starting, I'd like for us to have a dome tour someday. It was 2 years ago? When I first came to Japan after my debut, I took a picture infront of Tokyo Dome.
Rocky: I'm working hard in studying Japanese so I want to challenge myself in a drama someday. Japanese movies have these great atmosphere that I would like to be in it someday.
Sanha: I want to go to Universal Studios Japan. Since I can't ride scary things, I can make memorable memories (with the members) by eating snacks with them.
Q: How was your Japanese Debut Mini Album?
Moonbin: Since it's hard to bring out the characteristic of the Japanese songs, we had to express our own colors. But I'm glad it came out well.
JinJin: I'd also like if you pay attention to the atmosphere of the songs. It has a lot of abstract expressions.
Eunwoo: Even though we covered Japanese songs before, this time it's our song so I feel happy. I want to listen to it quickly!
Q: Your first full length album All Night which was released last January topped music charts. How did you feel about it?
MJ: (We are) extremely excited, we were all on the verge of tears. But when I saw my members cry, I thought I couldn't control it. I thought that if I opened my mouth, I'd cry on stage so I tried my best to smile. I can't forget those feelings and joys of those days.
--I want to study well the Japanese Language to get rid of the Language Barrier--
Q: In relation to your Japan Debut, please tell us what you want to do recently. (Tell us something that you have done recently for the first time).
Jinjin: I want to try.... Video Filming and Editing. I take pictures and videos to keep memories, and the fact that I edited it shows the memories and feelings of those days. So from now on, I'll take it one by one and gather it in 10 years. And since I'm starting to work on my composing (skills), I'll work hard!
MJ: I'm recently interested in Trot, I'd like to challenge myself in trying for Japanese Enka*. I'd like to perform it at a concert as well. (T/N: *sorry I don’t know what an enka is)
Eunwoo: The members are earnestly starting to study Japanese. As for me, I've started learning (Japanese) for a while, and recently I've been watching Animation dramas. Animation like "Kuroko's Basketball", the drama "The monk who loved me from 5PM to 9PM". Isahara Satomi is really beautiful, I'm a fan.
Sanha: I'm working hard in studying Japanese. I want to do great in the Japanese langauge! I'll be happy if I got to do better so that I can break the language barrier.
Moonbin: Recently, we've been doing is to write down poems or write down our feelings. Also exercising. (I'm) writing down in my notebook, sometimes I don't understand my hand writing (hehe), I also type it down in my phone's memo then transfer it. And I also have to study Japanese (laughs), I watch Japanese Animation videos. I like the movie "My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday". I'm a fan of the main characters.
Rocky: I want to debut as producer since I am working hard in composing. There is already a song for ASTRO and I (want) to make songs together with Sanha and Bin hyung.
Q: This time, the youngest Sanha graduated from highschool in Korea, and all of the members are already adults. Who do you think is the most adult among the members?
Jinjin: Of course it's MJ hyung. No matter what attitude it is, he can take it all. Since he's always by my side (and guiding me), he is really cool and I'd like to learn (from him).
MJ: Eunwoo and Bin. Recently, I think Bin is the one who grew up the most. When the members talk together, I think about it a lot when the members listen to what I feel and felt like an elder brother to them.
Moonbin: I think it's Eunwoo. He worked hard a lot and was the first member to experience (such things). He's the same age as me but he's more mature.
Eunwoo: For me, I think it's me. In the group, because I want to be the most willing person in the group. Of course when I'm tired, I lean on to my members.
Q: To Sanha who recently became an adult, what do you want to do with the members?
Sanha: Even though our overseas tour is finished, I want to go out with my members. And without any delay, I want to tell a truthful story.
Rocky: Since everyone is already an adult, I'd like to try a a performance with a more rich concept. I want to challenge (myself) with a powerful concept.
Q: Eunwoo's Cleantopia clothes hanger became the talk in town in Korea. If the members would create goods, what would it be?
MJ: A Ringtone of my voice! When there's an incoming call "Hello~ Pick up the phone~" (laughs)
Moonbin: Since I like to exercise, a fitness center (fool?) hehe I also like rice so I want my face in front of (laughs) an instant rice pack.
Sanha: When I play the guitar, I'd like my face to be on the pick hehe
Rocky: I think it'll hurt?
Jinjin: For me, something to drink.. I think I want to have my face in a water bottle that is near me. I'm wondering if you could feel (me) in the daily life.
Eunwoo: A beverage package for me too. I'd love if ASTRO would be an advertising model.

An incomplete list of things I love about Gladiolus Amicitia
(This is based off the JPN version but stick with me)
His unabashed love for his friends and his family
The fact that he is super excited to do things with Noct: fishing, flower picking, running
His generally playful and cheerful demeanour: the joy in his voice always makes me smile
Tiddy
He fought a 2000yo god-like figure (after knowing that Noct would be safe with Ignis and the other CG members at Caem) to better give himself the ability and experience to protect Noct the way he was supposed to
He’s a big, soft nerd who would rip off heads if his boy was in danger
Other tiddy
His sneezes? Cute??
HE NAMED HIS KING’S KNIGHT CHARACTER AFTER HIS FAVOURITE AUTHOR, WHO WROTE THOSE BIG-ASS OLD HISTORICAL NOVELS HE READS
And who gave this blog its name
He keeps at least THREE of those books on him (green, red and blue)
His official bio says he has a “優しくプレイボーイ” side, so he’s flirty but he’s GOOD about it
This entire scene in the drama CD (the prologue was actually translated pretty faithfully, so it’s a good look at his JPN character), but especially his tone and laugh at the very end
He probably (definitely) gives the BEST HUGS
He would die for Noctis without thinking twice about it: not just because he’s the Chosen King, but because he’s Noct and Gladio loves him

Inazuma Eleven Revival Festival - Review!
WARNING - I will mark SPOILERS for Reloaded and the 2 Ares episodes below!!
Personal Reflection: I’ve been an Inazuma fan since roughly 2010, but TRULY became obsessive from 2013+ when I saw Kirino and fell in love. Inazuma has a special place in my heart because it’s one of my strongest connections to Japan. I learnt Japanese through watching, reading about, listening to and eventually translating for this anime. To actually get to go to an event which marks the start of a new Inazuma series was a dream come true. Being SURROUNDED by a sea of fans wearing cosplays, badges, scarves, uniforms… To know what we have in common is a love for this dumb sakka series - it felt amazing. It would be an even bigger dream come true to make friends with EVERYONE who also loves this series. I hope IE EXPLODES over the next 3 years and I 100% believe IT WILL. And I will do whatever I can to help the JPN-ENG translators!!
Apologies if I’ve forgotten anything important.
Okay! Let’s go!!
Attendees: There was about 2,000 people at the live event.
Before the Event: The merch went on sale from 10am, and you didn’t need a ticket to the event to queue to buy it. I arrived at 12ish and the queue looked to be about 2 hours long, so I decided I wasn’t interested in buying anything for once in my life. I’ll post a list of the merch later.
There was an area to trade merch and take photos with the cosplayers.
The doors opened at 2pm and the event began at 3pm.
START
It began with Endou explaining the rules: no filming, photography etc… during the event.
Then a ‘memory reel’ where they showed screens of all previous characters. Endou CHEER Gouenj CHEER Kidou CHEER Kazemaru HUGE CHEER Atsuya and Shirou HUGE CHEER Reize HUGE CHEER Go Raimon HUGE CHEER (and Araceli cries) Kirino and Kariya ENORMOUS CHEER Shindou CHEER Torb SILENCE… then laughter… Alpha, Beta, Gamma CHEER Fei CHEER Galaxy HALF ASS CHEER
Opening Songs
Preformed by pugcats and King Cream Soda. During the song, the characters came to the audience to dance. There was Endou, Gouenji, Kidou, Fudou, Fubuki, Hiroto, Kabeyama, Asuto and Kazemaru. Unfortunately they never went on the stage so we couldn’t see all of them. Endou high-fived a few people.
Introduction
Hino and Mo appeared. Hino said he’s so happy to see so many people gathered here to celebrate Inazuma Eleven, and the huge crowd is proof Inazuma is Avery loved series. Mo adds it’s been 4 years with nothing yet still so many people are here or watching the live-viewing. They introduce themselves formally - Hino as president of Level 5 and Mo as an employee - and Mo said she will do her best with Japanese today too (Mo, PLEASE your Japanese is AMAZING)…
Hino says this event marks the start of a new Inazuma series.
All-Star Cast Line Up
Guest stars were Nojima Hirofumi (Gouenji Shuuya), Terasaki Yuka (Matsukaze Tenma), Tomatsu Haruka (Nishizono Shinsuke/ Kudou Fuyuka, Hattori Handa) and Kamiya Hiroshi (Haizaki Ryouhei).
Tomatsu’s outfit was really pretty, like a long white dress-shirt and blue jeans. Kamiya wore a black and red jacket that looked really cool. By the way, he seems like a very funny person, so I was surprised he’s playing so many last boss characters.
Before Reloaded, there’s a recap of the story so far. Reize’s opening monologue. Fans went wild.
Hino says this will be the first time the voice actors (minus Nojima) see the completed episode, so they will watch it together on stage with everyone. The sit around their own TV. Tomatsu says it feels like being in a living room. Nojima comments there’s no drinks. Mo and Hino sit with them too. Hino says the reason they made Reloaded is because they had to have a reason to connect the original series to Ares.
WARNING! BELOW HERE CONTAINS SPOILERS!
Inazuma Reloaded Opening: Remastered Stand Up Tachi Agariyo
Raimon return after the FF. The whole school is so happy to see them. They’re crowded by fans. There’s a scene of Miyasaka hugging Kazemaru and the audience went nuts. Endou is so overwhelmed he runs to the toilet as an excuse. Kidou and Gouenji call him into the clubhouse.
Comment - Their body language is WONDERFUL! It’s so realistic the way Endou can’t sit still, or Kidou leans forward to speak.
Gouenji/ Kidou say next is the world as Endou gets excited over the idea of playing new opponents.
Hibiki arranges an exhibition match against Barcelona Orb - the team came from Spain to Japan for this match. The match starts and Gouenji tries Fire Tornado right away. It fails when the goalkeeper stops it with his finger then throws the ball back to Gouenji. They next try the Inazuma Break, which also fails. Kazemaru, Gouenji and Ichinose perform the Phoenix, but that doesn’t work either.
It’s shown Hakuren, Zeus, Sun Garden, Teikoku etc are watching the match. This got a huge reaction from the crowd.
Barcelona’s captain the rest f the team start to attack. The captain scores without using special moves. The score becomes over 8 (to zero) and Barcelona’s teammates tell the Captain to give them a taste of their real level. The Captain uses his special move - Diamond (don’t remember the second word, possibly ball) where he carves the ball into a diamond. It’s very beautiful. He scores before Endou can even react. Endou seems reluctant to pick up the ball after that shot, like he’s almost in fear - but that doesn’t last for long.
Raimon lose, exhausted, as Endou lies back and laughs to himself, reflecting on how great soccer is.
Raimon are called into an office to talk. I didn’t catch the guy’s name, but an official looking person tells them that Raimon vs Barcelona proves that Japan’s soccer is not at world level. He wants them to join soccer teams around Japan and strengthen Japan’s soccer as member of the strengthening committee. Endou agrees to it.
Raimon are gathered outside their club house, seemingly worrying. They don’t want to split up. Kurimatsu says it’s okay for the Captain and the others but some f the weaker members don’t feel they have what it takes. Kidou says no matter what happens they will all be connected by their hearts.
Domon and Ichinose are going to America, and the managers see them off at the airport. Aki’s wearing a cute pink hoodie. She’s mad that they’re going to America and tells Ichinose that he should represent Japan. Ichinose says he needs to gather strength in US before returning. He doesn’t know yet if he’ll play for a Japanese team or an American one.
Natsumi, along with the managers, are also given roles as members of the strengthening committee but it’s not revealed what they are. Natsumi has her laptop in any case.
Final scene - Break Trio are on top of the hill talking. Endou still doesn’t fully understand what a strengthening committee member is, and Kidou asks if he was can listening at all. Endou seems to have just heard the word soccer and agreed to it.
They say the next time they meet on the pitch they’ll be rivals. None of the 3 plan on losing. They part ways.
Closing theme:
Remastered Seishuu Oden showing scenes from the Raimon kids’ school life. E.g., Kazemaru and Makksu in class, the kids eating lunch, Kabeyama doing science, the team playing soccer…
There’s a chat session with the voice actors - their thoughts about the episode. Pretty predictable - it was very interesting and great and the animation and remastered moves were great. It’s commented that the leg movement for Fire Tornado is very different, because Gouenji is longer.
They talk a bit about the Captain of Barcelona Orb and the rest of the team. He’s not good-looking but still kind of cool - that’s the kind of character Hino wanted to make. Mo comments on his ‘bear eyes’.
It’s the new characters’ turn to be introduced. The voice actors Ayumu Murase (Inamori Asuto), Michinari Tatsumi (Kimura Ryouhei) and Hanae Natsuki (Okuiri Hiro) come to the stage.
A picture is shown of Baddap, Haizaki and a character from another anime he plays. They all have grey hair and tanned skin and are Last Boss type roles. Kamiya says Baddap was his first villain role and then his second Inazuma role is Haizaki. He wonders just how does Hino see him since he keeps getting villain roles?
Since the topic of villains comes up, a pic of all previous enemies is shown. Terasaki points to each GO character and says alien (Ozrock), future boy (Saru), ghost (Shuu) and human (Hakuryuu). There’s only one human, compared to the original series.
They go through the new 11 members. Some notable comments were:
Michinari -  Hino says Michinari is a Captain like Shindou from GO with many worries.
Okuiri - He wears glasses like Megane’s but he’s a much more serious character.
Iwate - He and his voice actor look alike to the point it’s scary.
Mo and Hino say they feel like something is missing from this voice actor chat session - oh yes, Endou! Junko has left fans a message that will be played on the screen.
A word from Junko: She really wanted to come but couldn’t. She says she assumes Hino is talking and talking and talking. She gave her own proverb: everyone, please enjoy today’s event!
There’s a break for 30 mins where they showed Outer Code eps Hakuren, Teikoku and Sun Garden. Fans screamed for Shirou, Atsuya, Someoka, Hiroto, Midorikawa, the group of Sun Garden kids, Sakuma, Genda, Fudou and Kazmaru.
Inazuma Ares 1 (note - some scenes may be out of order)
Opening Theme: Teppen Mezasou! It was epic! The start focused on Inakuni Raimon, we see Haizaki’s GORGEOUS school uniform!!! Like a blue blazer ~ Sakuma, Aphrodi, Hiroto etc appear~
It opens with the Inakuni kids playing soccer. Goujin makes a shoot but Norika saves it. She said he’s getting better. Sasuke is watching them. They take a break. Norika says soccer is great: it can let you forget about all your worries. I think it’s Hattori who is surprised that Norika has worries. Asuto and Michinari decide to ask the principal if they can play a practice match against another team. The principal (Fuyukai) says instead the soccer club will be demolished because they have no sponsor)
Workers are demolishing the pitch. Asuto runs to stop them but they forcefully push him away. Eventually Michinari had to hold him back. Later Norika is bandaging him up. She said she understands his worries but he was too reckless. Asuto asks her is she okay with not being able to play soccer? She says, of course not. Kirina runs over saying there’s bad news about Asuto’s Mom.
Asuto runs to hospital. His Mom apologizes and says she can’t stay with him. Asuto is upset to lose not just soccer but his Mom too. His Mom assures him he won’t lose soccer - soccer will be there as long as he needs it.
Kirina wonders if Asuto will be okay as he runs off. They guess he is going to the highest point in the island. Asuto reaches the top of the hill and screams.
The next day the Inakuni kids are called into the office where they ware told if they can win one match they can get a sponsor if they transfer to Raimon. That means leaving the island and moving to Tokyo.
It’s revealed Sasuke is a recent transfer student.
The kids are shown wondering about their decision to go to Tokyo.
Hiura tells his Grandma he’s going and she comments things will get lonely around there. By the way, she calls him Ki-chan.
Hattori rides on top of Iwate’s back as he rides a bike. Hattori wonders if the food will be good in Tokyo.
Michinari is walking with his father. He feels like his Mom will protest if he goes to Tokyo, but his Dad assures him he’ll talk to her.
Mansaku is at his Dad’s sushi restaurant. His Dad gives him his specialty sushi, and tells him to eat. He says he won’t lose to the food over in Tokyo.
Norika, Hiyori and Okuiri are together that evening. They comment going to Tokyo would be Norika’s first time to ever leave the island.
Raimon vs Seishou. Sasuke makes the First Goal with Fire Tornado. This wakes up the Devil of the Field, Haizaki. He goes wild, scoring again and again. Their are 2 special moves - Overhead Penguin and the Death Zone. Kidou does not appear in this match.
Proverb: Soccer will be there as long as you need it!
Inazuma Ares 2
Haizaki and Seishou are beating Raimon. Agirls are watching the match from a box, making fun of Raimon being from the countryside. Anna tells them to be quiet.
Flashback to 1 week before Raimon vs Seishou.
Inakuni Raimon at outside the clubhouse. Norika tries opening the door but it won’t budge. They comment that Raimon/ Tokyo is very different to their island.
The group of girls come over (perhaps members of the student council? Managers?) with Mikado Anna, who introduces herself as president of the student council. The girls are dismissive of Raimon winning their match against Seishou, but Asuto says they will.
Next the kids meet Ootani Tsukushi (do you remember her? A game only character!) who is very bubbly and friendly. She shows them around the school.
The team get their uniforms and are very excited. Ootani is so excited she’s about to cry. They also get the Inazuma Band - a wristband that measures their exercise levels. It’s also a communication device - the coach can use it to contact them. He does so immediately, summoning them to the field.
They are surprised their Coach is from China. He said he prefers Kung Fu to soccer. He made them a crazy training schedule (think: worse than Kidou from GO). Like 100 laps, 100 push ups etc. He asks them what they have to do? Goujin/ Asuto say train and win their next match. Coach says no - they have to NOT LOSE.
The start with laps through Inazuma Town.
Back to the match. Haizaki’s still demolishing them.
Flashback to a new scene.
Haizaki is showering. Another boy comes in. You see the infamous goggles and Haizaki calls him by his name, so we know it’s Kidou. We only see the bottom half of his face and legs by the way.
Back to the match. Seishou win. Raimon are disappointed but Asuto says while they’re in Tokyo they should do something fun like go to Sky Tree.
Inakuni Raimon are at Tokyo Sky Tree. Suddenly Asuto starts crying. He wanted to play soccer more. The others start crying too, except for Sasuke who is annoyed they are crying in public.
A man walks over and introduces himself as a member of Island Travel - a famous travel agency. He says he he would like to sponsor Raimon. Asuto is surprised because they lost. The man says that the fact they were able to score even one goal against Seishou and the way they fought their hardest to the very end of the match moved him emotionally. There’s more than just winning and losing.
Asuto reflects. They may have lost but in the week before the match they trained all over Inazuma Machi, getting to know the local community.
So Raimon get a sponsor. The kids are so happy they start dancing and hugging each other.
Proverb: I can’t fully remember but I THINK it was something like, you’ll make your own future out of the path you choose to walk??
Closing Theme: All of Inakuni Raimon jump out of a scales in different poses. Then we see everyone’s ‘battle’ suits. Asuto - knight Nosaka - mage Hattori - Robin Hood/ Cupid Okuiri - Some kind of wizard Sasuke - Shirtless gladiator (by the way everyone laughed)
2 Questions from fans
Boy: Is it relevant that in the ending theme all of the players are divided into 3 'sets’ to showcase their battle armor? Hino says it might be.
Girl: She was very excited. First she said she loves Mo. Her question is - what’s up with Kudou’s redesign/ why is he coach for Seishou? Hino said, history has changed!
Voice Actor Talk: The VAs were asked to draw their most memorable scene.
Nojima Hirofumi: Gouenji didn’t appear! He is literally like… So… Gouenji didn’t appear??? Why am I here again?? I was looking forward to seeing him! He does add the episodes were very exciting, with no boring parts.
Kamiya Hiroshi: OVERHEAD PENGUIN and Sasuke. He said he wants to know what the balance of Ares is.
Kimura Ryouhei: Sasuke’s Fire Tornado. Mo comments Sasuke shoots Fire Tornado with his right leg but Gouenji used his left.
Hanae Natsuki: The ending theme where Okuiri jumps out of the scales, he makes a cute pose like 'kyaa’ waving his arms and legs. His VA is surprised because it seemed unlike him.
Murase Ayumu: Hattori riding on Iwato’s back
Terasaki Yuuka: Kogarashi Manor is brand new!
Tomatsu Haruka: The scene where everyone cries together! OR ~shower scene~ she drew a questionable picture of Haizaki showering. The way she drew his legs were awkward and looked like something… else lmao.
Mo comments that the pose Haizaki makes while he showers is very strange (head down, hands against the wall)
Terasaki comments that it’s strange Kidou took his goggles off in the shower of all places. She thinks they would be useful to keep shampoo out of his eyes.
Apparently Hino argued with staff over whether or not the shower scene was necessary. Hino felt it was.
Kamiya comments that he was watching the fans react to that scene, he’s like - I heard you! I saw your reaction to that! I know you liked that!
Hino reveals that since Ares is a parallel world he wants to redo the whole series up to FF International. He says he really wants Inazuma to run for a very long time.
Terasaki asks Hino to please make a new GO. Hino said he wants to. But this not an official statement, more like ‘if possible I’d like to do that’. Personal opinion - if IE becomes very popular I would say there’s a 40/60 chance of a new GO.
Future of Anime Preview:
Two picture were shown that showed future plans for the anime. One was young Hiroto and Tatsuya. It’s implied there will be an episode with them as children (personal speculation - possibly all the Sun Garden as kids??). Second was Haizaki getting very worked up over trying to win a stuffed bear from an arcade game (personal speculation - it’s not actually for him, but the girl in the flashback).
Game Info: It will be released on Switch, PS4, IOS and Android.
The showed gameplay: Inakuni Island, Raimon Chuugakkou, Match vs Seishou, Kidou running and tackling, Sasuke’s Fire Tornado. Quality was very high, like Breath of the Wild.
Mo made a comment that the story mode map looked very big and it seemed it would take ages for the character to run far distances. Hino said they are working on that.
Next Walker: March 10th 8PM
Closing Words (that I remember):
Nojima: He said he can’t wait for Gouenji to appear. Why does Gouenji always keep us waiting?
Terasaki said she’s so happy to stand on the stage and play an Inazuma character again.
Mo said it’s an honor to stand on the same stage as Hino as a foreign Inazuma Eleven fan (Mo is from China).
Ending Live: Ryuusei Boy by a two girl idol group (name??). Then pugcats and King Cream Soda joined them to sing Saikyou de Saigo and Maji de Kansha. The voice actors joined in and the character suits too. Confetti exploded. Fans waved their glow sticks and cheered.

Perfume 2017 Wrap-Up
After reading this article about TOKYO GIRL and this blog post about If you wanna, I decided to translate some of their interesting points and add my take to it. 2017 marks yet another major shift in Perfume's music, but before I talk about that, there are some things I would like to point out back in COSMIC EXPLORER.
COSMIC EXPLORER was an album which was so cleanly divided into half experimental EDM tracks and half conventional technopop tracks (or rather, new songs and existing songs) that it sounded more like a compilation album, and I can tell Nakata has been waiting to take Perfume into a completely different direction. Cosmic Explorer was the last track to be recorded for the album, and it was also the track that stood out the most and was the most experimental, notably with the 110BPM and by taking a leaf out of Madeon's Finale, suggested by many. And interestingly, the next 4 EDM songs, Miracle Worker ~ Next Stage with YOU ~ STORY ~ FLASH (album-mix), all followed the traditional 128PBM.
Tumblr media
Surely in 2017, Perfume surprised us single after single, for better or for worse (depending on who you ask obvs). TOKYO GIRL was a mediocre EDM track for me at first, but it slowly grew on me, especially after watching their live performances. Houseki no Ame, according to some, was Nakata's take on new jack swing and included some elements back in JPN. If you wanna was undoubtedly the shocker, falling into the worldwide trend of future bass. Everyday was a tropical house track with a surprising piano solo in the beginning, following TOKYO GIRL's footsteps. FUSION was another future bass track with barely any vocals from Perfume themselves, if any. And as the year almost wraps up, Perfume teased us with Mugen Mirai, expected to be released in spring.
As weird as this may sound, but the 2017 tracks are very cohesive, maybe even more cohesive than the COSMIC EXPLORER era. These songs fall into very different genres, but they share the following qualities:
Tumblr media
1. Varying BPM and Rhythm
Most of Perfume's songs fall in the BPM range of 128 to 132, with the majority being in 128BPM, including TOKYO GIRL. Houseki no Ame was 110, If you wanna was 150, Everyday was 115, FUSION was 95, Mugen Mirai is 80. If you are not familiar with music theory lingo, basically it means these songs are either faster or slower than their usual songs. Nakata has a long history of sticking with 128BPM: his entire WORLD OF FANTASY album was done in 128BPM, and during Perfume's breakout, Chocolate Disco ~ Polyrhythm ~ SEVENTH HEAVEN ~ Baby cruising Love all followed 128BPM, with the following A-side love the world nudging it to 130BPM and its B-side edge in 127BPM. With the slowed down/sped up tempo, Nakata could divide the bars into smaller bits and play around with the rhythm. TOKYO GIRL started with a very slow almost 2/4 beat, and returns to the regular 4/4 beat during the build-up. If you wanna's drop incorporates such a funky rhythm that even Perfume themselves have trouble following, with the second melodic line starting at an off-beat and thus throwing people off. Everyday begins slowly, then its pre-chorus gains more rhythm and momentum, silences, intensifies again, and finally returns to regular programming.
2. Minimalism
Another quality all these songs share is the minimal use of instruments. Starting from TOKYO GIRL, which Perfume stated the verse originally had more sounds to it and the beat was more intense, Nakata has pulled back a lot on the fullness of sounds. I remember reading about Nakata liked to fill up his songs with noises and reverbs so that people won't be able to distinguish each bar. But in TOKYO GIRL and Everyday, the song starts out very quiet and calm, with only basic piano chords and lonely drum beats. I was so used to that Nakata layering fullness that I did not know how to appreciate TOKYO GIRL at first, but I later learned this quietness really accentuates the build-up and chorus of the song, making it more dramatic and dynamic, and later on Everyday really nailed that. In future bass tracks If you wanna and FUSION, Nakata does the opposite: the drop was the minimalistic part. It only contains a basic synth, a bass, some simple beats, and maybe few vocals. If you wanna had gaps in between the drop, giving it breathing space, and the shortness of the song leaves so much room for Nakata to play with on the album. I totally did not expect FUSION's second drop to fall back to its simple first verse, as I thought the song was going to progress into a more diverse melody. Nakata still layers tracks, but he now does it gradually, reducing the listener's fatigue. I look forward to how Mugen Mirai will transition from full-on orchestral production in the verse to simple electronic synths in the chorus.
Tumblr media
3. Utilizing Voices
This is an existing feature on all of Perfume's tracks, but this year's tracks have been a highlight of this feature for me. As I have written in this previous post, TOKYO GIRL and Houseki no Ame were a high point of Kashiyuka's vocals. Choosing Nocchi to open Everyday, sequencing each of Perfume's voice from lowest to highest in FUSION (the final "watashi to" stack-up, i.e. Kashiyuka → Nocchi → A-chan), Nakata has been paying much more attention to each of their vocals and utilizing it to his advantage, as opposed to classics such as VOICE and Computer City, in which they just sing in unison. To me this is what distinguishes Perfume's work among his other works.
4. Theatricality
While listening to these songs again, I noticed this theatricality that was omnipresent. Every song has its own setting or scene. There is sort of a "poof" opening sound in TOKYO GIRL's first verse and Everyday's pre-chorus that makes them sound dramatic, as if a feature-length film is about to start. Houseki no Ame obviously demonstrated that with that swinging rhythm, and Mugen Mirai is going to play with that grandiose orchestra melody for sure. Even in If you wanna, the contrast between the high-laying synths in the verse and the bass drop in the chorus creates such a dynamic vibe, resulting in a song that might be short in length, but wide in range. This ties back to Nakata's shift to minimalism. As it is in art, sometimes negative space creates more dimension, drama, and elevation to a piece. Avoiding starting the song with the chorus — which all the songs this year also share in common — also helps, since it allows more room for build-up and range expansion. Referring to past songs such as Have a Stroll and Hold Your Hand which were very one-note, this is such a welcomed feature by me.
Tumblr media
5. Variety in Instrumentals
This is the main reason I still listen to Perfume, and the reason why Perfume (and Nakata's music in general) stands out from the rest of electronic music, even when they follow trends. FUSION takes the edge (⊿-mix) approach, laying down a distinctive bass track and melody track, and layering different elements along the way. TOKYO GIRL, Everyday, and Mugen Mirai shifts the use of instruments over time, taking out previous elements and layering in new elements to ease the transition between verse and chorus. Houseki no Ame's first and final chorus has an added bell melody on the top, but its second and third chorus lacks it. And for If you wanna, which essentially only has four building blocks (instrumental, verse, build-up, drop), Nakata decides to just cut it short to three minutes shy instead of repeating it unnecessarily (ya hear me, The Chainsmokers?).
6. Choreography
2017 also marks a stellar year in Perfume's choreography in my opinion, and I believe it attributes to all the musical qualities mentioned above. The varying BPM and rhythm gives MIKIKO a lot more space to work with, since most of you may know that MIKIKO likes to add hidden rhythms in her choreography. During If you wanna's second instrumental, there is this part of holding up their dresses and walking side-to-side that completely throws the regular build-up beat out the window. The minimalism lets MIKIKO play with Perfume's advantage of fast and slow, energetic and calm moves. Different voices let different members take center, and the theatricality of the songs can showcase Perfume's different styles of dance: TOKYO GIRL incorporates modern dance, Houseki no Ame infuses jazz, If you wanna and FUSION takes a little hip-hop, and Everyday's AWA Dance is just fun to imitate.
Tumblr media
I might be the only one, but I am seriously pumped about their next album. It will be something us Perfume fans have never heard of, and I hope more worldwide music listeners will welcome them into their lives. It will be something so different individually, yet so cohesive as a whole. There will be a clear direction, and Perfume will definitely take Japanese and worldwide electronic music to that direction with their next album, as long as they don't take up the theme song for another children's movie.

Jun- he loves reading, adapts easily, thoughtful, plays the piano, his korean name 'moon' literally means 'good at studying', multi-talented and has acheived many awards in his lifetime. Also he is quite quirky which is a lesser known trait of ravenclaws Jun could also be a hufflepuff, due to his positive, dedicated and hard working nature
Woozi- composing, producing, reading music, arranging, writing lyrics etc all show he is both creative and clever, i think woozi is definitely someone who'd value brains over brawn.
Wonwoo: this one is a difficult one and i think wonu would fit in just fine at the slytherins table too. Since he's quiet n not v revealing it's hard to tell, but based on how he too is quite the bookworm like jun, writes lyrics like woozi, and also with his lame jokes n humming/singing all the time, i think he is the perfect mix of intelligent n quirky
💙💙💙
Hufflepuff:
Joshua: gentlemen joshua, soft spoken n just an all round nice guy. Very hard working and dedicated, moved to a different country for sth he never had an interest in, from his jpn interview i would say that this would be where he fits in best.
Seokmin: very hardworking, super passionate about his work and about singing, he is quite insecure about his abilities and feels inadequate:( so he's always striving to improve himself, a very warm presence and helps lighten up peoples lives
Jeonghan: i guess most people wont agree w me on this one. But for me, jeonghan really is the kindest member of svt. He was the one to take chinaline under his wing and help them with translations when they were just starting off, he tends to notice members that are being left out or talked over or ignored and he helps them/reassures them, takes care of all of the members well and is esp fond of maknae line, very patient, and is dedicated and hard working too bc he used to be a very shy, quiet boy who was too insecure about his own voice to even sing adore u by himself and look where he is now, dancing solos in award shows and singing proudly with his own voice alone
All three of them had childhoods where they were insecure abt sth (like for josha and seokmin it was their weight) and have all worked hard, stayed positive and driven thru the odds so that they can feel more and more comfortable with themselves
💛💛💛
Slytherin:
Mingyu: Ambitious, i feel he does have a doninant nature and would love to be in charge, intelligent (topped his class), aspires to be successful and aims for greater things, is confident and as the visual is aware of his good looks
Minghao- clever and cunning, i feel minghao is very ambitious too, ever since he was a kid he loved b-boying and dancing and has always dreamt of being a star. as a kid when asked what he would do if his parents stopped him from dancing, he said "i'd dance in secret"
Hoshi- was actually voted by every single member of svt as the one who would most likely take on a solo career path, as a leader of a team is very good at taking charge and is quite clever in choreographing and being able to see dance moves in ordinary things (like elevator mirrors), very determined, also to be noted: kinky
Dino- chan was also joked by the other members as being someone who would take a solo career path, has actually released a solo mixtape soon after (listen to zero on soundcloud), a lot of his lyrics show his desire of wanting to be the best, has big dreams, is very multi-talented and strives to become even better, maknae on top
Slytherins tend to actually be very well rounded, they are loyal to their loved ones like gryffindor, highly intelligent and cunning like ravenclaws, and determined like hufflepuffs, so really they could fit in anywhere but what sets them apart is their intense desire to be on top
💚💚💚
this is just what i think and depending on which stage of their life they are in, im sure some of these can change (vernon could quite easily be a ravenclaw/slytherin, jun is half a hufflepuff already)

Translation below the cut!
Izumi Mitsuki: Say....... Nikaidou Yamato: Hm? Izumi Mitsuki: I'll get right to the point-- what's Chiba Salon? Nikaidou Yamato: ....... Izumi Mitsuki: You said that you entered the entertainment industry so you could expose Chiba Salon. What do you mean? Izumi Mitsuki: Yamato-san, why do you know so many people in the industry? How do you know Yuki-san? Did you know him from before? Izumi Mitsuki: To be honest, I didn't mean to ask you all of this. It's just.... You look really tired and frazzled lately. Nikaidou Yamato: ......Haha. Nikaidou Yamato: Come on. You too? I can't believe both you and Nagi are such goddamn voyeurs. Finally showing your true colors, eh? Izumi Mitsuki: 'Voyeur'...? Nikaidou Yamato: ....... Ah, no-- Izumi Mitsuki: You.... You know, Nagi is really, really worried about you, right? Did you really think that all of that was nothing more than voyeurism or plain old curiosity......? Nikaidou Yamato: ....... Nikaidou Yamato: Well, he is being excessively curious about stuff. You too. Izumi Mitsuki: ......Do you really mean that? Izumi Mitsuki: Did you really mean all that stuff about how we're only prying because we're curious? Nikaidou Yamato: Hey now, I'm not criticizing you or anything. That's just how people are, right?. Nikaidou Yamato: Well, if you really want something thrilling, then go read gossip articles online. Goodnight.... Izumi Mitsuki: --Hold up, you asshole! Nikaidou Yamato: Woah, that was close! I almost spilled my coffee! Izumi Mitsuki: You know what Mister Shimooka told me? He was like, 'Wait, you don't know? Even though you're such good friends?' Izumi Mitsuki: How did you think I felt when he said that!? Why do I have to learn about you through rumors! Nikaidou Yamato: Mitsu, don't shout. You'll wake up the others. Izumi Mitsuki: I was gonna wait for you! I was gonna wait until you were ready to open up and talk to us about it! I even told Nagi and Tamaki that to calm them down! Izumi Mitsuki: But what the hell is up with you!? You're spewing downright awful stuff at people who are worried about you and saying whatever the hell you want to say. Aren't you just running away!? Nikaidou Yamato: ......Shut up! Izumi Mitsuki: ....... Nikaidou Yamato: Worried...? Are you really saying that? You're just frustrated that somebody else knew about it while you didn't. That's all there is to it! Izumi Mitsuki: Of course I was! I was really frustrated! Is it wrong for me to be frustrated!? Nikaidou Yamato: ....... Izumi Mitsuki: Just give me a real answer, Yamato-san.... If you don't wanna talk about it, then just tell me that you don't wanna talk about it. That's enough for me. Izumi Mitsuki: If you told me to wait, then I'd wait! Just stop playing it off! Nikaidou Yamato: ....... Izumi Mitsuki: Or am I supposed to use that here? Nikaidou Yamato: Use what...? Izumi Mitsuki: The 'moderation' you gave me. (1) Izumi Mitsuki: Am I really supposed to use that here, on us? Until you properly talk to me and we both understand each other? Nikaidou Yamato: ....... Izumi Mitsuki: ....... Nikaidou Yamato: Haha.... Well, in the end that's all there is to being a member. (2) Izumi Mitsuki: ....... *smack*
Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: ...I don't really know, to be honest. I do feel guilty, there's no way I wouldn't. But.... Somewhere deep down inside, I don't think I'm completely lying either. Midou Torao: No? Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: I just want to make the people watching me happy. That feeling holds true for whenever I sing, or dance, or keep up that persona. Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Playing the part of a sexy, man of luxury is just like executing a difficult dance step. During those times, what I'm really thinking about is stuff like.... Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Am I crushing the dreams of the people who love me? Am I showing them something they can be satisfied with? Am I properly supporting my friends like this? Midou Torao: Friends? Are you talking about Kujou Ten or Yaotome Gaku? Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: And also the people at the agency and all of the staff members. Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: So many people are doing their best to support me. That's how the me on TV happens. Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: These people make me into entertainment through their vast wisdom and experience. Midou Torao: ....... Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: There are times when that on-stage and off-stage gap is painful, and there are times when I feel really bad that it causes my family trouble, but.... Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: My friends know what I'm really like and support me. Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Even though keeping this a secret is suffocating at times, it's also part of the bond between me and my friends. Midou Torao: I see....... Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: It would've been really hard if I had to keep it a secret from my friends too. Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: As a member of TRIGGER, I'm determined to make this group even bigger. So no matter how much my heart aches, that lie is a completely different matter. (3) Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: If I had to lie to Gaku or Ten about this though....... Every day would be so terrifying, and I'd probably end up hating myself. I'm sure I'd try to run away from them too, just so that I wouldn't have to see their faces. Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: It'd be so taxing.... There's a good chance I'd lash out and say terrible things to them too. Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: I'm really glad that it's not like that.
*click* Nanase Riku: T-there was a really loud noise just now. Is everything okay!? Izumi Iori: Noisy indeed. Just who is awake--
Tumblr media
Izumi Mitsuki: --Don't fuck with me, you dumbass! Nikaidou Yamato: You idiot! I can't believe you punched me in the face when I'm in the middle of filming....! Izumi Iori: ......! Nii-san! What are you doing!? Nanase Riku: Yamato-san, are you okay!? Izumi Mitsuki: Fine, then! Just keep on saying whatever the hell you want for the rest of your damn life! Go ahead, keep on pretending you don't give a shit! (4) Nikaidou Yamato: Don't fucking lecture me on this! There's no way someone like you would understand how I feel! Izumi Mitsuki: If you want me to understand, then tell me! With your own voice! In your own words! Izumi Mitsuki: I couldn't hate you, even if you were a criminal! There's no way I could ever forget all of the things you've done for me! Izumi Mitsuki: Why can't you understand that!? Izumi Iori: You can't, Nii-san! Any further, and-- Izumi Mitsuki: ......... Nikaidou Yamato: ......God, shut the fuck up. Nanase Riku: I-I'll bring some bandages. Let me see your face-- Nikaidou Yamato: It's fine. I'm going back to my room. *click* Rokuya Nagi: ....... What happened? Yamato.... Nikaidou Yamato: ....... *slam* Rokuya Nagi: The corner of his mouth was bleeding. Did he fight with someone? Izumi Mitsuki: ......I hit him. Rokuya Nagi: ...You hit him, Mitsuki? *click* Osaka Sougo: What happened...? I heard shouting....... Yotsuba Tamaki: ...Where's Yama-san?
Midou Torao: Thanks for tonight. I had fun. Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: If anything, I should be the one thanking you. I feel a lot better now after talking to you. Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: To be honest, I've been bottling up my feelings since there's a lot going on with my family right now. But I remember my resolve now, along with my pride. I know I can proudly tell my younger brother…. Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: “I'm TRIGGER's Tsunashi Ryuunosuke, and I'm determined to make my members and my family happy.” Midou Torao: Haha. You're a good older brother. Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Oh, not at all. Midou Torao: Say, Ryuunosuke. Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Hm? Midou Torao: If I told you I recorded our entire conversation tonight, what would you do? Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Record? For what purpose? Midou Torao: Selling it to the press. Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: ....... Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: You want to be popular with women, right? I have faith in your kindness, Torao-kun. Midou Torao: Haha. Sorry, that was a joke. Ah, right. Do you mind if I ask you for some advice? Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Advice? What kind? Midou Torao: Apparently this one singer I know ran into problems with her agency. Do you know her? Hanamaki.... Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Is it Hanamaki Sumire-san? Of course I know her! Isn't she the number one hit artist right now? I didn't know you were acquainted with her. Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: I bump into her a lot at shows. I'm always here to listen, if you don’t mind someone like me. Midou Torao: You're a lifesaver. I'll contact you later. Tsunashi Ryuunosuke: Got it. Good night, Torao-kun. Midou Torao: ....... ....... Midou Torao: ......Hello? Yeah, I met him. He just left. Midou Torao: Didn't seem like one of the top brass in the current Chiba Salon though. ......Huh? Midou Torao: Aw, come on. I didn't bully him. --That's mean, Ryou-san.
Nikaidou Yamato: ....... Yotsuba Tamaki: ......Yama-san, what are those suitcases for? Are you going somewhere? Nikaidou Yamato: I'm not gonna come back for a while. I really can't cause any more trouble for the people on set. Izumi Mitsuki: .......
To be continued.....
TL Notes/comments:
BIG THANKS TO RYUU (@hyouryuu_ on twitter) FOR TL CHECKING ME AND HELPING ME W SOME OF THE LINES IN THIS SECTION!! I Owe You My Life... Also thank you @kuriiii for qcing/proofreading as usual!! bless u Baeta
And now for the Actual TL notes...
(1) YOOO TBT PART 2, CHAPTER 8.3! im fucking saD man (2) THANK YOU RYUU-CHAN FOR HELPING ME OUT WITH THIS LINE, AND MANY MANY OTHERS IN THIS section (3) LIKE THIS ONE!! 線を引 literally translates to "drawing the line" in english ('enough is enough') but that has a very different connotation in jpn: 'differentiating or keeping things different/separate' I was super confused abt this line, so thank you Ryuu for clarifying that!!! (4) for this line I went rougher/more crude because mitsuki is Pissed, throws more insults/is rougher in speech towards yamato. Generally mikkii does use slightly rougher speech but i don’t go as ham on the swears as i would for another character (ex. Gaku, yamato)
I do apologize for the delay in release, but I absolutely had to get this section checked because there were just way too many things I was not 100% certain that I tl’d right. I would definitely be interested in having a permanent tl checker (preferably native japanese+english speaker) to ensure quality and accuracy for story tl’s, so send feel free to send me an ask/DM me on twitter (@shiroihime) if you’re interested or know anyone who would be!  ALSO I CAN FINALLY WORK ON STUFF THIS WEEKEND, so expect more updates soon! I finished NO DOUBT’s lyric tl’s a few days ago for both the game size and MV size, so if you or someone you know is willing to do karaoke/subbing of the MV, please send me an ask or DM me on twitter (@shiroihime)! Last but not least, if there’s anyone who can record gameplay videos (like this channel) in high quality without any watermarks/etc or lag, please contact me either here through ask or DM on twitter for more details.
As usual, if you see any mistakes/mistranslations/etc, please message me!
Thank you for reading!!

Niel’s Interview with Creastar
Creastar: April Issue | JPN → KOR: 슈슈 | KOR → ENG: Sunshiniel
Tumblr media
What kind of concept did you go with?
This album is part of a three-part “breakup” series. “Love Affair…” is the first in the series. Of course, each song on the track list has a “breakup” concept, and I tried various different singing styles to express different kinds of sadness from quiet sobbing to open misery. I plan on releasing the second and third parts of the series after promotions for Teen Top’s March comeback finish.
You wrote some of your own songs for this album, right?
I wrote the 5th track “Signal” and the 7th track “Disappear.” All of the songs on the album are “breakup” songs, but out of the whole track list, “Signal” is about the most tragic kind of breaking up. On a rainy night, the girlfriend gets into a car accident, the guy runs as fast as he can through the rain, but in the end she goes to heaven. I was imagining the man crying as he suffers from loneliness and regret. I really tried to express a man deep in the depths of despair as I was singing it…
For “Disappear,” I was thinking about a guy in an empty room, surrounded by nothing but his own loneliness, after a breakup. In a room with all the lights out, he thinks about her, horrified by the idea that he’s become absolutely nothing to her — I think you can feel the sadness when you listen to it.
You released a dance version of your music video recently. Your style of dancing always feels cool and powerful. When the song ends, and you’re breathing heavily as the image disappears, it looks really good.
I was breathing like that because I really needed to. Even before the comeback, during my dance lessons for “Love Affair” I had to breathe like that — so, trying to sing while I’m dancing this choreography is really hard. But, I wanted to seem cool on stage — if at all possible — so I never lip synced; I always sang live, even while I was dancing. I trained for that by practicing my breathing techniques and singing on the treadmill. Whether it’s just for practice, or if it’s for a real performance, my feet always feel like they’re on fire after doing this song. When it’s that intense, of course my breath speeds up. I’m breathing really, really hard.
I think you’re going to have a comeback in March with Teen Top, how are preparations for that going?
All the members are working really hard on it. I can’t tell you exactly what sort of concept we’re going to come back with yet, but I can tell you that the song will be really catchy and addictive. Please look forward to Teen Top’s comeback and support us when the new album comes out.
You said that after Teen Top’s promotions, you’re going to release the last two parts to your “breakup” series. Why are you sticking with this “breakup” theme?
The character of my voice and the way I express emotion fit better with a breakup theme, rather than with love songs. Besides, I think breakup songs resonate more deeply with people, so I’m preparing a whole breakup series.
So, this album’s theme is “breakup.” Niel, have you ever experienced an unforgettable breakup?
In real life, I haven’t experienced a breakup like that.
When one door closes, another door opens. You may not have a memorable breakup, but do you have a first meeting that sticks in your mind?
It’s not a first meeting, but I recently heard from one of my middle school friends for the first time in years. After a really long time, I got to hear about what’s going on with our old classmates, and talk about old memories, and the time really flew. So, I don’t really have a first meeting that sticks in my mind, but meeting up with an old friend that I missed really left a deep impression on me.
What did the other Teen Top members have to say about your album?
As soon as I finished the album, the first thing I did was play it for the other members. When Chunji listened to the song, he cheered me on, saying, “It’s got a good feel, you’ve got this!” Everyone supported my solo activities.
During your showcase and press conference, you said that Shinhwa’s Andy complimented you, and that you wanted to say thank you next time you saw him. Has that happened yet? How did it go?
I’m really always thankful to him. Every time I see him he always compliments and encourages me. I think he’s been monitoring me really closely. Since my promotions are overlapping with Shinhwa’s, we see each other a lot at broadcasting stations. I was even able to say happy birthday to Andy on his birthday. Ricky and I went to see him and Shinhwa with a cake, and we all sang Happy Birthday to him. Seems like some kind of destiny that I always see Shinhwa during my solo activities.
What’s keeping you most busy these days? Composing?
Definitely. Same goes for the other members; when we have time we research lyric writing and music composition and make songs. And, when we only have a little time, we play Pokemon Go~ (he laughs)
New Year’s has passed, and we’ve begun another year. What do you think will be popular this year?
Pokemon Go is still really popular, right? I also think Teen Top’s music will be even more popular in 2017! And of course, my music too! From now on I want to show an even cooler performance and even better music with this “breakup” series. I want to show everyone that Niel never stops growing.
Finally, please leave a message for your fans.
From now on, I think I want to work even harder to become someone who isn’t afraid of criticism, and to show a cooler side of myself for everyone who loved “Love Affair” and for everyone who’s supported me. I am so grateful for all the support and encouragement you gave me through all of my solo activities. I’ll see you again soon with the rest of Teen Top. I hope you can continue to do an amazing job supporting all of us, like you have for me!
