Supposedly AO3 is supposed to roll back online sometime soon, but just in case it continues to be DDOS'd until I'm busy and can't post anything, here are a few reads for you on other sites!

The Trash of the Count's Family [NovelUpdates Listing] [English fan translation - Chapter 1] No, you don't understand -- Check the tags on NovelUpdates to see if it's for you and if it is, please read this. That way I know I'll have multiple readers who are down for some Trash fanfic. (Granted, I honestly haven't got much past chapter 400 myself, but, uh, still!) I will warn that while it has some of the biggest, fluffiest Found Family vibes of any of my fandoms, it also has some of the absolute darkest, angstiest scenes. So be prepared. If you read it and make it far enough to have ships, share those with me! (I'm a multi-shipper myself because how can you choose when the MC has so much chemistry with multiple characters???)

2. There Is No Epic Loot Here, Only Puns [Royal Road] Y'all don't even know how much I love dungeon core stories. This one is my favorite. [Also, hear me out... what if SVSSS dungeon core fic?] Again, I haven't finished reading this one because it's pretty long and updates aren't necessarily weekly, so I just let chapters build up and read it all again from the start. But it definitely has Found Family vibes if you like that. There is a System (which has probably influenced my sympathy for SVSSS's System a lot). Also... there is a duck. Yes, this is specifically where my inspiration for Mama Duck and her brood comes from. No, there will be no apologies.

3. Data Dragon Danika [Royal Road] Honestly, I'd mark this one as a very self-indulgent read. The premise is about a girl using VR to play a game where she cultivates from a very tiny fairy dragon into becoming more powerful. Listen, it goes places that when I was a teenager I'd have been scared to write for being accused of writing "fangirl trash" BUT LOOK THAT DOES NOT MAKE IT BAD IT IS SO CUTE PLZ. Also, I absolutely love VR stuff. One of the LiuShen fics I might want to write one day involves VR worlds. You have been warned. Oh, also, found family vibes but more low-key than that.

im obsessed with the way you portrayed jade in the story. like its not everyday that i get to see him written in a way that totally doesnt hide his insanity at all. reading monops's reflection was just so <33 aaa tysm for writing smth so amazing!!!

you mentioned before that monops!jade is very "rotten girl grotesque romance", and i totally agree, but i was actually reminded of another old yandere vocaloid song when i read the fic! idk if you know it, but its called "pure love restraint". its a really good song hehe, you should totally check it out if you dont already know it!

oh also speaking of songs, i recently started listening to loveit? by biz since you mentioned it a while ago, and i love the song so much >< do you happen to have any other song recommendations because clearly you have great taste in music~

AAAAA THANK YOU!!!!! >w< I'm so happy you enjoyed Monops's Reflection!!!! Jade is so wildly deranged in that fic. He truly is the embodiment of the harsh, brutal depths he hails from. ;;;; seeing Reader in the storage closet with Floyd pushed him over the edge he'd been teetering on for so long now. T^T he's far surpassed the point of no return. I had so much fun finishing this fic and portraying Jade in such a terrifying manner. And poor Reader had no idea what hid behind that seemingly pleasant smile of his until it was too late...

There are so many layers to Monops!Jade. How he gets so disgusted at the sight and thought of you with anyone else. How it's not really sexual gratification he's after; he's just chasing some thrill he's yet to figure out in its entirety, which is why he doesn't touch you at all during the non-con scene. Because it's not your pleasure he cares about; he could care less whether you feel good or not. How his sanity is so thin and threadbare that it's hardly there at all. How he fails to recognize that, despite the similarities he shares with Floyd, he's still his own person, still different, but not different enough for you to look his way, apparently. And then there's the meaning of Monops, which is a "one-eyed creature." >:D aaaaa he's truly the worst.

OOOOO "true love restraint"!!!!!!! I love that song!!! That song definitely has the vibes that Monops!Jade exudes!! And I'm happy you enjoyed listening to "loveit." :D it's a very good song, but then all of biz's songs are amazing!!!

Inspired by @senditcolton 's Hozier prompt list (she did such an amazing job with it and her blurbs so go check them out), I have made a prompt list of my favorite songs from a variety of artists. There are 10 songs, which means only 10 blurbs (which will probably be more along the lines of tiny fics compared to the blurbs I did for the 300-follower celebration). Dani, help me turn my new work place into something more 🌈?

I recently started working at a local bookstore. It's a small place, but very charming and inviting. However it's in a dire need of more LGBTQIAP+.

Since I'm also responsible for bringing in new books to the store, I already got the two TEC books, all 5 volumes of Heartstopper and the two books of Aristotle and Dante.

So, Dani. What do you recommend me to get? It can be any genre, really.

Congrats on your job and it sounds so cool and fun! And kudos to you for making the bookshop gayer yay.

Instead of recommending you specific books, I'm going to direct you with broader suggestions instead.

More Than Just MLM - Make sure to have more than mlm books. Most popular LGBTQ books are about gay relationships and it's important that we make books about other queer people accessible too - especially queer woman! For instance, check out Alice Osmen's other works. I'd recommend Loveless (about asexuality) among others. Here is a list of book recs about Lesbian and Bi women. A list of trans books by trans authors. A list of books with asexual main characters.

2. Pick Non-Famous Authors - Don't just have the famous books by famous authors (like Heartstopper or whatever else). Sometimes famous books are expensive and some queer people (Especially teens) have to buy these books from the money they've saved up and can't afford all of them. Make sure to have books by smaller authors who are also good because these books might be affordable.

3. Find Accessible Books - I'd also recommend that you find books that have audiobooks versions and for readers who are not comfortable taking a physical copy home. So even if they can't buy it, you can say 'hey you can look up the audio book etc). This is also important for queer people who are blind or dyslexic. Here is a list of queer audio books that are freely available on Spotify.

4. Looks for Writers and Stories from Diverse Countries - Make sure the books you have aren't just about white queer people. And no, I am not talking about something like firstprince where one of them is poc. Mixed race queer couple stories are becoming a trend (not a bad thing but I can and will write a thesis on it later) but what I mean is that we need to promote more queer stories that are about queer people who live in countries other than the US and UK. For example, a queer story from India written by an Indian author - not just 'about' an Indian. Similar, a queer story about a Mexican trans woman, written by someone from Mexico, etc. This is so very important! Here are some LGBT books published by different authorise from different countries.

5. Find Books For and About Adults - Don't just go for YA books. I know YA books are more popular in queer media. But sometimes older queer adults prefer to read about older queer people. Sometimes young queer people want to know what it's like to be an adult queer old. So make sure to branch out more than just YA books. 5. Don't Stick to Romance - Make sure to have different genres, not just romance. Not all queer people (or cisgender people) want to read queer romance. Make sure to have different themes and genres including mystery, drama, poetry, short stories, etc. Here's a list of queer sci-fi and and fantasy books.

I know you can't get ALL of these - especially because it's a small place. But as I've said I can't recommend you which books to buy. (Other than Loveless hehe) But I hope these notes are helpful for you (in general) when you're trying to get more books in the future.

who I am

A 21 year old French-Canadian Sagittarius, baby! queer, ashkenazi, doing an English major, hopefully a future lawyer. Big feminist (despite what my writing might consist of LOL). I write songs, too! what I like

Lana motherfucking Del Rey, Stevie Nicks, SZA, Lucy Dacus, Rihanna, Heart, shirts that show off my rack. Margaret Lawrence and Margaret Atwood and a lot of gender theory. Drunk Dancing. I’m a big fan of moral philosophy (John Stuart Mill and Krenshaw are my favs) and ecocriticism — I’m writing my honours thesis on indigenous ways of knowing, particularly in connection with anti-humanist narratives centering non-human species (I love magpies and mother trees). Canadian humour and Canadian wildlife. Oh — I also love a good em-dash. DILFS.

Favourite movies: Pride & Prejudice (with Kiera, the best of the best), the Shawshank Redemption, Hairspray, Waiting for Guffman, Les Intouchables, Avatar I and II, Revenge of the Sith and Return of the Jedi, the original Halloween and Scream, and The First Avenger.

Favourite Shows: Supernatural, Parks N Rec, Narcos & The Last of Us, the Boys, Arrested Development, Call My Agent, Rupaul’s Drag Race, and so many more I lose track.

Real person fic, slow talkers, capitalism, and Leonardo Dicaprio. Militarism, imperialism, and colonialism. Rhubarb. Friends (the show) and Heidegger. TERFs (all transphobes, really), and artists who don’t reblog other artist’s work. HUMANISM. Men who take credit for women’s ideas. The gender binary. Honestly, I could go on forever. Feel free to give me ideas.

what I write

For now, dark fic involving Pedro characters & dark fic about Soldier Boy from the Boys. Might be more later on, but that’s it for now.

what I won’t write

Overly specific requests (it’s always going to be reader insert so don’t ask me to use your name or defining characteristics), anything related to feet or bodily fluids beyond cum LOL, real person fic (yes, that includes Pedro, he is a person), and fandom cross-overs.

Generally, I’m slow on requests — this isn’t because I don’t like or won’t write your kind of request, it’s just because I’m a gal who works 2 jobs and has a full course load, and I have a lot of my own fics in the works.

hi hi hi!! thank you for asking me these, this is so much fun!! reading back on these answers after I've written them is shocking because I really can just go on and on about stuff, huh? I really don't talk that much irl so I didn't know I had all this in me hahaha I'm so sorry!! I'm actually so embarrassed 😅 I'm gonna put the answer to 11 in a separate post so I can actually attach the picture I'm proud of!

4. say something nice about a ship you don't ship (it can be another ship in your fandom, a mutual's OTP, etc)

the one ship that's jumping out to me is dramione. I am a huge hater of this ship (sorry sorry sorry if you're reading this and it's your thing I love you and support you!!!) but you guys make some really cool shit and I'm happy you have a community you can share it with!! I've poked around in the ao3 and tumblr tags and its absolutely not for me, but there's some really beautiful and horny stuff out there for this ship and I so genuinely love that for all of you!

16. a tiny detail in canon that you want more people to appreciate

if I'm being totally honest with you, I haven't interfaced with the harry potter canon in a very long time. i already own all the movies and books and stuff, so I wouldn't even be giving jk money by rewatching/reading them, but it just kind of makes my stomach hurt when I think about supporting her in some way. I've had to work through a lot of complicated feelings in regards to jk and harry potter in general, as I'm sure many people have had to do! her words and actions and how I feel about it are not complicated at all, but what to do in the aftermath of it was something I had to figure out. I mean, I have a hp tattoo on my ankle!! my pinned post is about this specifically, but where I've ultimately landed on it all is this: I don't want to let her steal any more joy from me than she already has. there are so many queer and trans people in this fandom creating such incredible stuff, and I just don't want to lose that! I got off on a whole tangent here and definitely have a lot more I could say on the topic, BUT all this to say, I can't really think of tiny hp details anymore!! and in this specific fandom, I'm totally okay with that!

19. your current fandom(s)

the fandom that I interact with the most is definitely harry potter, but I have a bunch of other stuff I'm super into!!

the whole reason I got back into any fandom–and the entire reason I logged back into Tumblr for the first time since 2018–was because of our flag means death!! I've loved rhys darby since flight of the conchords and was so pumped that he was a lead in an hbo show! I was totally shocked when ofmd turned out to not be queerbait!! something about that first season just flipped a switch in me and I looked for fan fiction for the first time in like, 10 years!! I actually didn't even know about ao3 and tried to go to ff.net and it was a whole thing. getting back into fandom was very intimidating, I'm not gonna lie. (wow I really could just talk forever huh?)

my other fandoms are: the sandman, the witcher, good omens (I was so late to that show but jumped on right before the second season completely on accident), check please!, disco elysium, red dead redemption (especial rdr2), the x files, the walking dead, the rivers of london series, and d&d: honor among thieves.

and then there's some stuff that I don't even know how I got into!! like, the spideypool ship. gang, I've barely seen any marvel movies, I haven't read very many marvel comic books. and I honestly don't plan it because I just don't like marvel (once again, could go on about this forever, I was a manager at my local comic shop and have many opinions). but someone I follow posted about a fic (and I am not immune to beautiful fan art) and then I fell down the rabbit hole!! def have recs if anyone is interested!

another one is the ted lasso fandom. I genuinely don't remember why we never finished watching the second season but then the reviews for the third season was kinda mixed so I never went back to it. and then I saw a writer I'm head over heels for had a ted lasso fic (other lives by @andthepeople) and WHOOPS I fell down another rabbit hole!! i also have ted lasso recs!

essentially, if ya boy's read/watched/listened to something, you know he's gonna go look at what the freaks (affectionate) are posting on ao3.

20) Have you noticed any patterns in your fics? Words/expressions that appear a lot, themes, common settings, etc?

Well, my Stranger Things fics sure seem to be about homophobia, don't they?

Mostly in the sense of how the cultural norms affect the people who live under them and their self-conception. I don't always use homophobia, but between the time period and my love of steddie fics, homophobia comes up a lot.

25) What fic do you wish you got more of a response on?

Hmm, well, that's hard to say. I really do think my fics reach the audience they're intended for. The response to some of my best stuff is small because they're written for a small audience: people who enjoy Steve miserable and Eddie dead.

But in the spirit of the ask, I guess In Silence Like To Death

It's completely canon compliant with season four with one exception: Steve and Eddie had been seeing each other for a bit more than a year (sort of) when season four starts. (It's the sort of that's key to the issue).

It is very specific to the situation Steve and Eddie were in, but at the same time it's about how grief affects people when they aren't allowed to acknowledge it publicly. Mourning denied because because as far as the people around are concerned you haven't lost anything important. It's very much about gay people losing their partner and having to hide their grief because the relationship itself still had to be hidden.

“My Uncle Charlie, well, he’s not really my uncle. He’s sort of my god-father but not officially because his wife -and none of that is important. But he’s a doctor - medical examiner, actually - and he suggested a midwife over an obstetrician. As for you, specifically, well, Lucas-” “My son?” Mrs. Sinclair turned her head sharply over to Robin. “How do you know my son?” “He’s friends with Dustin Henderson. Dustin’s our housekeeper’s son and he’s, actually, I’m not really sure how to explain Dustin.” Robin gave an apologetic shrug. “But Dustin introduced Steve, my husband, to Lucas, and Lucas told him you were a midwife.”

Hii it's the anon who sent the ask Abt looking other places for fanfic so I found this longfic called Ocean Mist on Wattpad and there's specifically a chapter called "Ticklish", Yuu finds out Azul is ticklish in that one and it's sooo cute(tbh I just loved the whole fic so much flustered Azul <3)

Additionally, on AO3, you may or may not have found these already because they're not tagged but they're tkl fics

Tickle Attack (You notice the octatrio isn't feeling well, cheer-up tickles ensue)

Tsuisorando Shotsu (I'm not sure if I spelled the name right, but there are quite a few tkl fic chapters in there, I think it's best to just select "read entire work" and command-f "tickl" bc that's what I did to avoid anything potentially explicit) But just in case you don't want to come across anything like that, there's the chapter 'Our Lovable Octopus' which might have had one vague explicit implication but I don't think there was anything major and the tickling was wholly sfw

A Fine Line Between - I just liked this fic in general the M isn't for any sexual content, and there's a tkl scene (if you wanna skip to just that part, I'd recommend just clicking read entire work and command-f 'tickl')

Also, I'm not sure if you already know this (probably do, but just in case) there's some fics w/Azul that were made in 2023)

On Wattpad, NGL I just looked up 'twst tickl' and sifted through the stuff I got so sorry that I couldn't rec much stuff, also I saw this one that was a transcript of tkl audios but there was an explicit chapter in there meaning this was probably a kink for them so I clicked out)

Ffn's mostly AO3 cross posting so there isn't anything there you wouldn't find on AO3 (I'm saying this to myself because I was about to check only to realize that everything there's on AO3, sorry)

Tbh I mostly looked for every single fic I could find on AO3 and then ended up also finding sfw tkl scenes in the process (I also command F'd a bunch of longfics) so I can mostly just say specific scenes from certain fics sryyy

it's so fun, they're like "i don't trust him" pretty much all the time, and then Rush is like "so i had a dream" and Young is like "ok, i'll call General O'Neill" and they keep relying on each other so much right now, it's great, and Young risking the whole gd ship to save Rush, after having tried to kill him, what, twice already? amazing ❤

ah, yes, fanfiction ❤ it's so good at casting light on things from different angles, i love that, seeing characters and their motivations from all kinds of different point of views. though, you gif makers do that too and i love it, it's so great to look at different gif makers in the same fandoms and see how you focus different things.

right now i'm pretty exclusively reading McShep fics, but we'll see how that looks once i'm done with sgu x'D if you have any recs, please feel free to share!

Michelle is stunning in caos, there's also Miranda Otto, and they are like my moms, I love them, this show is worth watching just to look at them, but there's also... the rest of the show and plot asjkhdakjdh

same goes for ouat tbh, some characters are great and actors are doing such a good job and then there's whatever was happening in the show, but it;s still fun if you don't take it all seriously.

you will facepalm a lot and you will have an urge to rip your hair out sometimes, but if you try caos, I will give you two good reasons for it

AUs: A Familiar Foxtrot (M) by Whatwewrote which is an AU where Nadja is a vampire and Laszlo is her familiar, or Fine Things (T) by fangingout which is a snippet of an AU where they are the characters in Our Flag Means Death

Canon-divergent AU: The Master (M) by nea9 is a long story that diverges strongly after season 3 and heavily deals with Nadja's character, including her love with Laszlo

Nadja and Laszlo having sex with other people too: so ambitious for a juvenile (M) by ghostoftonantzin is a crossover with the book My Uncle Oswald, which I haven't read but I have vague familiarity with, and it's fairly easy to get the gist even if you don't know it. Funnily enough, I may have written more Evanstan than I've read (it's to do with the fact that there's not as much fic out there, but also because I'm very specific when it comes to characterisation with Evanstan, more so than with Stucky). However, I've definitely read a number of absolutely amazing Evanstan fics!

One of my personal all time favourites is an AU, and it's a long one, but it's definitely worth the read if you've got time and energy for a long fic: Where The Interstate Ends by paperstorm. It's incredible! If you'd rather start with a shorter or non-AU fic, I can highly recommend With a Steady Hand, and a Little Time by the same author <3 A definite fave! (and have a look at this post and the links in it for more recs, if you like)

I'm from the south, and I haven't listened to country music in so long because none of it feels authentic to my experience or beliefs. I listened to Tyler Childers for the first time today. I loved it. It makes me so nostalgic for the music I grew up listening to. Do you have any recommendations for more songs/artists with this type of music?

putting this above the cut because they deserve the promotion:

Black Opry Revue is a collective of Black country and country adjacent artists that tours, offers artist residencies for Black artists, and generally does fantastic work promoting Black performers in a really white dominated industry. i've seen a set of theirs live and can't recommend them enough !! they are a great place to start for finding artists that fall outside the country mainstream :)

i would say that tyler and zach bryan are two of the biggest stars of the country/appalachian revival rn and both deserve the praise they get

a tyler gem i would recommend is follow you to virgie live at red barn (really that whole album, there are no skips on it)

zach bryan's live version of revival on his all my homies hate ticket master red rocks recording never fails to make me want to go to a concert posthaste

orville peck is pretty big on tumblr and is a more country-western sound if you like that better! he has some incredible good music that handles topics like bisexuality and relationship violence with a lot of nuance and grace (he also has plenty of fun ones, but i like that he's not afraid to handle difficult topics too)

hexie mountains is one of my favorites by him because it deals with complications around home and distance in ways i love

ok now for some people who aren't as big on here but deserve all our love <3

adia victoria is FANTASTIC and has some really incredible music with a little bit of a darker, more gothic sound

stuck in the south is the obvious place to start

in the pines is also amazing and follows in the sacred country tradition of talking about the grittier sides of the south and trying to understand where you fit into all of that

valerie june is also a little bit less straight-country but she's doing some really cool stuff and she never fails to make me pull out my most exaggerated twang. her voice is amazing

astral plane is my favorite of hers

shakedown never fails to make me dance

i only recently discovered wyatt flores but i love the rasp in his voice on

jason isbell has been around for a while and released music as a solo act and with jason isbell and the 400 unit.

morgan wallen (don't bother with him he Sucks) released a cover of his song cover me up that got a ton of press but the original is lightyears ahead of the cover

the nashville sound is no skips album from him

hope the high road off this album fulfills the niche for me i think this year does for a lot of other people

le siren isn't all county but i love her music

the banjo on yikes! Gets me as a country girlie

i saw kyshona live and her voice is UNbelievable

my own grave is my personal fav

the turnpike troubadors have plenty of bangers including

a long way from your heart which is another no skip album

also everyone above is a modern artist but it goes without saying that classic country is full of people with interesting things to say that isn't the boot-licking-bro-country-sound folsom prison blues, harper valley pta, 9 to 5, the pill, cowboys are frequently secretly fond of each other, etc are all classics for a reason !!

finally rainbow kitten surprise really aren't country, but they are a queer band from north carolina and everyone should watch their hide music video which is about being queer in the south and features several drag queens coming out to their families
