Why is choosing something to watch so overwhelming?

#i usually get some snacks #and decide to watch like a #series #or a #film #then i remember i have #unwatched ones #and the i get anxious cuz i have those to watch #but i also want to watch something new?#but i also have my confort movies i like to rewatch #??????#why is it so complicated

just wanted to say thanks for pointing out how the way Carrey portrays many of his neurodivergent coded characters is kind of uncomfortable because you're right it really is a weirdly common thing he does....particularly Ed's ending in Batman Forever and the way he acted it out always came across as really weird and ableist to me and it's a different actor but same goes for that interrogation scene in The Batman 2022 tbh it makes me uncomfortable too

YES. Carrey's portrait of lots of characthers truly makes me unconfortable.

My only exception being Trumman but even than is mostly because the writing was really good. And I say that as someone who for years had The Mask as my confort movie because while I didn't knew about the autism Ipkiss weird way was a thing I could see myself in. But I can't rewatch nowdays because I'm afraid of what I'll find (it may one of the few non-offensive Carrey portraits of nd charachters but if it's the offensive one it will hurt me a lot).

About Riddler I don't remember much of Batman Forever but I was looking for Riddler clips on YouTube and I saw the scene where he is defeated and I couldn't finish it because it made me too unconfortable.

And I do think the same with the interrogation scene in The Batman, the biggest difference for me is the fact that Forever is making fun of autistic people while The Batman is seeling our quirks as scary and predatory wich are both AWFULL.

The fact that Carrey's whole career is full of mockery of neurodivergent mostly autistic traits and it comes from someone who does see autism as something that needs to be cured makes me hate Forevers portrait more. But both are bad. It was only one scene in The Batman but still.

And the thing is I'm all for autistic Riddler and I do think a lot of unintentional autistic traits were added into his charactherization since the beggining. For instance there are a lot of moments in the 66's Batman that can be interpreted as stims and palilalia and even his low empathy in some moments can be read as autistic (for instance the scene in Unburied were he doesn't even notice Vickys grief because he is too annoyed by what he sees as her lack of curiosity seems a lot like an autistic person just not reading the room). And Gotham Riddler was intencionally coded as autistic in the first seasons (I do have problems with that coding mostly that they used the Sheldon Cooper aproach ew but still).

But the thing that makes this two interpretations bad (or in Gotham's case worse) is that the coding (intencional or not because while I want to believe it was an accident I do think it was on purpose) sends a negative mensage be that this traits should be ridicularized (Forever) or feared (The Batman).

I don't know if I expressed myself well. I'm just one autistic person and while I head some other people on the comunity complain of this scenes we are not a monolift so yeah. Also I'm glad I helped somehow. No need to thank me.

Hello, I'm so happy that you like my blog. I'm very new to this so I'm very nervous so really thank you for the kind words. Ever since I was 12 I found a love for writing, I used to write in journals and believe it or not was writing a story that would never be shared with the public, if it ever did I'd want to disappear cause my writing then is way different than how it is now. I found episode, a place where I can create stories but I didn't start right away cause the rule was that you had to be at least 13 to write a story so I waited and 9 discontinued stories later, I have a story out that I love. One thing about me back then is I get so nervous with my writing that I end up taking it down like with the fic I posted, I was very nervous to put it up cause I didn't know if people would like it and my friend was like supporting me to put it up.

Avatar is one of my fav fandoms, I remember how much I loved avatar when it came out and my mom and I went to watch it in the movie theaters and it was just so good. I didn't even know more were coming till December when my mom told me about it and it's crazy I watch the big bang theory and in one of the episodes a character said "Why are they making four new Avatar movies" and that really flew over my head til I watched that episode on a rewatch and I was shocked. My favorite characters. have always been Jake and Neytiri even when I was 10? I was a fool for romance. So they're still my fav in Avatar 2 I hated Tsu'tey at first but as I watched it again getting older, I understood why he was the way he was. I love him now. In the new movie, the characters that made my fave list were Neteyam, Lo'ak, Tsireya, Tuk, Kiri, and Roxto. Ao'nung didn't reach my favorites until after reading fanfics of him.

The characters I'm comfortable writing are: Jake, Neytiri, Tsu'tey, Kiri, Tsireya, Lo'ak, Neteyam, Ao'nung, Tonowari, Ronal, and Rotxo

Again thank you for the kind words, it's nice to know that I'm doing something right. I didn't know how it would go if I shared my writing with people and especially about a movie I really care about and I know down the line I might write for other fandoms. Then one day in the future, I'll work up the courage to release a novel (this has always been a dream of mine)

Part 3 of 10 of my 100 favorite characters

80 - Elphaba (Wicked) Defying Gravity is a song that will forever be dear to my heart 79 - Electra Heart (Marina and the Diamonds) Yes, I'm talking about the music album. It may be a weird inclusion, but the songs, together, create a greater picture that is fascinating to me 78 - Parvana (Breadwinner and it's sequels) I read at first in School, I don't even remeber wich class. She's smart, hopeful, resilient and sweet 77 - Tom Houston (Black Friday) A father trying to conect with his son after his wife's death. He blames himself for his death (because he was driving when the accident happened) and fears that his son may blame him as well. The songs What Tim Wants and If I Fail You always touch me 76 - Hawkgirl (Justice League Animated Series (2001-2004)) Even tought my mom is a great DC fan, my first contact with the superheroes genre as a child was that cartoon. Hawkgirl was a character I overlooked on the first watch, but my love for her only grew. Her arc and divided loyalty really got me 75 - Tahani Al-Jamil (The Good Place) A concept I really like in fiction is that character that tries so hard to be perfect, an endeavor always bound to fail, that end up losing themselves in that projected perfection. That's one of the reasons why Tahani was my favorite. Also because she's absurdly gorgeous. 74 - Inuzuka Shino (Hakkenden) I watched years ago, and I confess I don't remember a lot. I always plan to rewatch, but I never find the time. Anyway, the protagonist, Shino, as a character I loved dearly, and I remember very well this feeling, tough I can't remember too much of the reason why. 73 - Mikulia Greeonio (Evillious Chronicles) Tough is true that Eve, Mikulia, Margarita and the Doll all have kinda the same vibe (justified in-universe) I still have a weak spot for Mikulia. Used as a vessel for the Demon of Sloth since even before she was born, Mikulia didn't have the chance of develop away from Eve's influence. She was mistreated for showing signs of not being neurotypical and found confort in the fantasy of a Prince taking her away. She was childish, cheerful and wanted friends. Her interactions with Lukana were so precious. 72 - Gallerian Marlon (Evillious Chronicles). Back then, when I didn't even know that story went beyong the songs, I was Young and still tought you coudn't like the bad characters. Trust me, I tried not to like this corrupted judge, but there was something about the way he would willingly walk straight to hell, with no fear ir regret, I simply coudn't resist 71 - Esmeralda (The Hunchback of Notre-Dame, Disney, 1996) I am aware of the many flaws of Disney, and I never idealized It that much any way, even as a child. Even so, it's almost impossible to grow up without watching some of the movies. Esmeralda is great, she stand up for justice, she's smart and bold, and she's kind. .

3 ships: oww I feel my top 3 ships are changing all the time😅... But right now my faves would be GyJo (Johnny and Gyro from JJBA part 7 Steel Ball Run), Yasugap (Yasuho and Josuke from JJBA part 8 Jojolion) like, I know JoJo's may seem weird at first but the last two parts are totally worth it and I don't regret reading them, the characters are SO good🥺... And these two ships are so well developed just... Wow. And my third one should be a pokemon one bc recently it's become a huge obsession of mine👀 (@winryofresembool knows) so, Appealshipping (Dawn and Zoey from Pokemon Diamond and Pearl) aaah they're such good friends, trust each other so much and are always supporting and conforting the other when they go through difficult events plus they're rival coordinators and me loves this rivalry going on in my ships👀 And talking about rivalry... I also want to add Huntershipping (Gold and Silver from pokemon gameverse HGSS) bc gods the rival tension there is...😳 YES.

Last song: woo I've been adicted to pokemon lofi mixes lately bc they are v relaxing to listen while drawing, so probably some Sinnoh or Hoenn lofi collection on youtube🤔...

Last movie: for me it's been "Life itself"😅, I had already seen it long time ago but they showed on TV this saturday and I stayed to watch it :'D before that it probably was something I watched with Tiia like a Pokemovie, Howl's Moving Castle or the first Inuyasha movie...

Currently reading: don't do this to me lately I read mainly fics and jojolion when it updates :d I've not finished an actual book in MONTHS the last one may have been Laia Lopez's Blue Moon the second part of Strawberry Moon, I really rec y'all to check her instagram itslopez bc she's a really talented artist and I look up to her a lot🥺

Currently watching: rewatching Inuyasha and Pip- Pokemon Diamond and Pearl with Tiia!! She already knows how obsessed I am with a certain blue penguin in the last one😳
