Lol. Scug Saiki is going to have either an easy time getting through Scavenger Tolls, or the hardest time.

Easiest because Scavengers are wary of Slugpups (best guess, blame Artificer) so seeing a Slugcat with ten Slugpups would activate the "DON'T HURT FOR OUR OWN SAFETY" alarms.

Hardest because he might have to find enough stuff to trade for all of them to pass the tolls safely.

Also, for first hand Cycle experience, here's my suggestion. Pole Plant with a Lizard being way too close to it. Yes I am speaking from experience-

God the tolls- its been a long time since Artificer timeline wise since scug saiki and co comes after ruffles, but i guarantee scavs have passed on stories and warnings about leaving slugpups alone if their mother is nearby because of artis warpath

saiki listens to moons overseer when it flashes images of a pearl at him, because its been correct about danger and food and shelter so far, and he does remember seeing a pearl not too far back, and so when he approaches the toll he does give them a pearl, but because of the scavs being wary of slugcats with pups, they only make him pay. once he hands over the pearl, him and his friends can all pass through

(those scavs held their breaths and held very still while all 10 pups crossed the toll, being super relieved when all the scugs were gone and uninjured. mother slugcat warpath part 2 prevented)

and god...saiki was used to hairo running off first, and he always reigned him in if the area was dangerous. but this was an empty clearing with poles to climb to cross, so he wasnt too concerned about hairo running ahead. that is until he ran and leapt for a pole...only for the pole to flare its crimson leaves and wrap around the poor pup, dragging him into its chambers before saiki could even react. he was absolutely fucking horrified because he doesnt know about the cycle, and one of his friends/pups just DIED. RIGHT IN FRONT OF HIM. and he couldnt do anything

saiki and the pups stay there as long as they can, most of the pups whimpering and clinging around saiki, but theyre forced to leave when the rain starts to come. they get into a shelter and saiki falls asleep regardless of the traumatic day because he has to keep moving.

but when he wakes up, hes not in the same den. hes in the one they were in last cycle. and pup hairo is tugging at his ears to wake him up like usual. its mildly annoyingly but also what the fuck??

the pups have no recollection of the day lost. they are too young to be capable of grasping the concept of the cycle. only saiki does. and he isnt going to waste this very, very coincidental second chance. he hisses for hairo to stay still when they reach that room and chucks a spear at the plant, making it recoil and die...releasing the white lizard it had in its lower coils, almost ready to drag it in. this time, saiki dies. he didnt think he could, even if he had lost most of his powers in this strange isekai (cough). the lizard rushes towards him and crushes him in its jaws quickly

they wake up in the previous shelter again, and its definitely less coincidental. saiki has a hunch that something odd is at play

also mild headcanon as to how the cycles work is at play here lol. time is still progressing forward normally, but since the last time every single one of the scugs was intact was at an older shelter, their souls and bodies end up there upon a new cycle. the pups are so much a part of saiki that entering a shelter without the body of one of them is enough for a cycle to do its thing. and its also partially alternate timelines. i doubt his pups were able to take his body to a shelter without being hurt themselves, after all

cycles are complicated things that everyone has their own interpretation on haha. my interpretation is very loose, as i change it depending on what fits a certain thing better xD when playing the game i interpret them slightly differently, even, but theyre very open ended a concept and open to many interpretations anyways

I don't think Daenerys has gone mad, she made a choice, and it was the wrong choice. (Long post)

Disclaimer: I'm a woman and a historian so please don't start throwing 'sexism' and 'jon is only better because he has a d**k' statements at me.

Soo I dont think Dany has gone mad. I think she has PTSD and she made a choice out of anger and desperation.

Let's go back to the beginning, Viserys told Dany from day one that the Targaryens belonged on the throne and it was stolen from them. She grew up with that mentality but she never seemed all the bothered by it. She pretty much knew even if Viserys was given an army he would probably fail. Dany was happy in her life as Khaleesi, it was only after she watched her brother die and Drogo said he would take the seven kingdoms for her than she seemed to think she should be queen.

Dany got a taste for power as Khaleesi and was pissed when she couldn't have everything she wanted. She wanted to claim all the slaves as her own but that wasn't the Dothraki way, even Jorah told her that but she wasnt having it making her very unpopular with the Dothraki.

She went against all the Dothraki believed in when she had magic used on Drogo. Once she really messed him up she lost the great khalessar and any respect she may have had. She was tolerated because she was Drogos wife. Only the women, children and lame stayed behind with her.

Once she gave 'birth' to her dragons she started to be seen almost like a goddess. Everyone kneeled to her even Jorah. She started to show signs that fire was now her answer to dealing with people she doesn't like. Remember Miri Maz Durr who was supposed to save Drogo? She had her burned alive because Dany thought she owed her her life. Dany thought she was a hero and should be treated like one, but remember Miri Maz Durr's words to her:

"Saved me? Three of those riders had already raped me before you saved me, girl. I saw my god's house burn, there where I had healed men and women beyond counting. In the streets I saw piles of heads... the head of the baker who makes my bread, the head a young boy that I had cured of fever just three moons past. So... tell me again exactly what it was that you saved?"

Miri Maz was traumatized and her world ended, she told Dany that a life had to be taken for Drogo's, Dany just wanted what she wanted and unfortunately it was her son's life that was taken. Her solution? She burned Miri Maz on a funeral pyre. Miri Maz lost everything and took revenge, Dany lost a lot and did what? She massacred an entire city of Innocent people. By Danys own logic she should be burned to.

Then what? Dany went and started to free slaves, great! But she used fire to deal with her enemies again. I'm not pro slavery, but the slave traders weren't Danys enemies, she decided to turn up then burn and crucify them all. She took it upon herself to decide how those cities should be run when she had no place there at all. Then she got all the Unsullied who decided to stay with her, which makes sense because she freed them, same with the other slaves. Once again Dany was hailed as a Goddess 'Mysa!' 'Mother of Dragons' 'Breaker of chains' 'the unburned' and all that Jazz. All that praise? Goes to a persons head.

Dany would liberate these cities and then she would leave them in chaos. Dany might be good at liberating people who had no say in their lives and wouldn't embrace the first person to treat them as people, but she sucks as governing.

Dany said she was going to break the wheel rather than stop the wheel. She hadn't even seen the bloody wheel in Westeros. All she had was stories. Dany believed she belonged on the throne just because of her name.

Tyrion? Varys? They chose Dany because at the time they thought she might be the best answer and they hadn't seen her more murderous tendencies. Plus anyone has to be better than Cersei on the throne right? And no one knew about Jon.

When Dany finally got to Westeros she said she always thought it would feel like a home coming, but it wasnt. Why? Because it's not Danys home, she doesn't belong there. She immediately expected everyone in Westeros to bend the knee to her purely because she finally decided to show up and demand the throne. No one knew who she was, no one had ever seen her before.

Dany was used to being in a Khalessar or 'ruling' over a city. Dany has no experience in fuedalism. She demanded Jon bend the knew and said he was in open rebellion against her. Open rebellion against a woman who claims the crown but hasnt actually done anything to get it? Open rebellion against a woman he and the North have never even seen or knew anything about other than she has dragons?

People say Dany saved everyone's arses from the white walkers. That's just not true. Dany claims to be Queen of the Seven kingdoms? Well then the problems of those kingdoms become hers. If Dany had left Jon to deal with the white walkers then yeah he probably would have been killed along with everyone else. But then Dany would have had a white walker problem to deal with on her own. The walkers and the Night King would have destroyed the North and headed South killing everyone in their path while Dany sat at Dragon Stone waiting for people to bend the knee. There wouldn't have been anyone left to do that and the Night King would have destroyed her armies and then her. So no, Dany helped with an issue that according to her own claims became her own.

Dany is foolish to, when she meets Jon she hardly believes that white walkers are even a thing. In the same scene she then tell Jon about how no one believed Dragons would exist again but there they were. So she believes that she's great enough to bring back dragons but the very idea that White Walkers are a thing is beyond her comprehension? This woman has seen magic and visions!

Dany also told Jon it was her destiny to be Queen of the seven kingdoms. Well that's just nonsense and something she's just convinced herself to be true because she wasnt born to be queen. She had two older brothers and an elder nephew and niece, add Jon to the mix and Dany would never have been destined to be queen.

Dany and Sansa didn't get on because Sansa wasn't taken in by Dany like many others have been. Sansa isn't dazzled by titles or dragons. While Dany and Jon were busy squabbling over who should rule Sansa was busy making sure her people had enough food and leather in their armour to keep them warm. Sansa had no interest in the North giving up their autonomy to a woman they had never seen before. Jon had no right to give the North to Dany, he was elected king, that doesn't make him an absolute monarch.

Dany asked for Jon's advice and he told her not to go burning people because 'she wouldn't be different, she would be more or the same". She then Immediately goes and burns the Lannister army without giving them a chance to surrender. She let's a few live, and demands they bend the knee or they die. Thats not really a choice at all, it's dictatorship. Even Tyrion tries to talk her out of that, he knows how Westeros works and Dany doesn't. She then burned Lord Tarly and his son. She won't have the love of those people, she can't demand their love and she can't gain it the same way she did in Merreen. The people of Westeros aren't slaves, they dont want her or need her.

After they won the battle for Winterfell Dany was seen to be on the outside looking in at the feast. She helped save the day, but she doesn't know anyone in the North. The Northerners celebrate with family and friends. Jon and Sansa and the wildlings all drink together, Tyrion is drinking with Jaime and Brienne. Dany expects everyone to worship her because she had been treated like that for years so when it doesn't happen she feels put out. It's not Danys fault, it's just no one has ever put a check on her power until she arrived in the North. The Unsullied and the Dothraki aren't Danys 'friends' they worship and serve her.

Dany finds out Jon is a Targaryen and the true heir to the throne. She begs him not to tell anyone something she has no right to do. He tells his family though and of course it spreads. Sansa doesn't trust Dany and I dont blame her. Jon may not want to be king but he doesn't go around burning people to get respect. Jon already has it, he's a Northerner, he's the 'son' of an honorable Lord. He's was Lord Commander of the Nights Watch, he's been beyond the wall, he fought white walkers, he fought in the battle of the bastards. Jon was elected king in the North. Jon doesn't demand respect because he feels he's entitled to it. He even came back from the dead but he doesn't brag about it. He doesn't call himself 'Jon Snow, The King in the North, the Ressurected one". So yeah given the choice between the two I'd have chosen Jon to.

Varys realises he made the wrong choice, he serves the people and always has. He would place his bets on Jon rather than Dany given what he was seen and he dies for it.

Tyrion knows he's fucked up, Dany doesn't believe the people in Kings Landing are important at all. She's so focused on getting what she wants she doesn't stop to think about the very people she claims to be coming to save.

Dany lost a dragon saving Jon, she lost another one because she didn't have the foresight to check the bloody perimeter and her dragon was killed. She took her best friend and advisor who doesn't know how to fight to the battle and she was kidnapped and killed.

Dany then made the decision to 'kill them all' with fire even AFTER the city surrendered. She could have just flown to the Red Keep and killed Cersei who was standing on the balcony. Dany made a choice and it was the wrong one. Dany isn't mad, she's traumatized and she's realised she would NEVER have the love and respect of the people of Westeros. She has done nothing to earn it, nothing that anyone else hasnt done. She has shown the people that if you say no to her she will burn you to a crisp. She's tried so hard not to be her father but ironically that's exactly what she's become. She said she hadn't come to be the queen of fire and Ash but that's exactly what she's done.

Dany has no head for strategy or ruling. She believes she's there to free people but the fact is Westeros isn't Mereen. The people of Westeros aren't slaves , they don't need their Lords killed. Dany wants to be the savior of a country that doesn't need or want her to save them.

Dany doesn't realise that soldiers of Westeros aren't like the Dothraki or the Unsullied. They don't all fight because they believe in the cause. The soldiers live under the lesser Lords who are the bannermen to the higher Lord who then swear allegiance to the monarch. Those soldiers and Innocents she burned all died pointlessly. She burns the majority then give the fraction of survivers a choice?

Look at all the other kings in Westeros, none of them acted like Dany does save for maybe Joffrey and we all know how that ended. Joffrey at least didn't believe himself to be absolute, he was put in his place by Tywin. The other kings? Robert? He was loved , Renly was loved, Stannis was respected, Robb was loved, Tommen was tolerated but didn't really do anything, but Margery was loved.

In conclusion Dany had good intentions when she started out but she was praised so much it went to her head and she started acting like that was her due. She broke chains and freed slaves and seemed to think that's what Westeros needed. She doesn't know how to rule, she's impatient and doesnt like listening to advice. She demands respect and expects to be obeyed by people she has never met before. She acts like her father even though she claims he was an 'evil man'. Remember when she apologized to Jon on behalf of her house because of what happened to his grandfather and uncle? Who is going to apologise to the people of Kings Landing? How is Dany not an 'evil woman'? Dany did exactly the same thing that made Jaime stab her father in the back. Dany knows what she did was evil.

There is no coming back from what she has done. If there was even a chance for her to at least gain the people's respect if not love she just lost it. She will forever be on everyone's hit list now. Dany has become everything she spent years fighting against.

I think what needs to happen is Drogon needs to die. Dany will always be protected while he is there. Drogon needs to be taken out then Dany.

Request: Can I request a reader x Penny fic where the reader is a werewolf in need of some wolfsbane potion?

A/N: I really like the idea of the reader being a werewolf, especially because Penny is afraid of werewolves after her friend was murdered by one. Maybe I could write another part of this, because I think Penny would probably have to get more used about the reader being a werewolf (especially once they are dating)

You have managed to keep it hidden from everyone else pretty well. Only a few people knew about your condition. You just needed to get away from everyone during the full moon. It was something you learnt to live with. No one thought it was suspicious you were gone during the full moon. All your friends thought you were just busy with the Cursed Vaults whenever you were gone, even during the night. Rowan did suspect something was up, but they never asked about it. They also thought it had to do something with the Cursed Vaults and just was concerned about you whenever you were gone. Dumbledore had been kind enough to give you Wolfsbane potions a week before the full moon. You had been grateful. You expected Snape would know about your condition as well, thinking he brew the potions. He never said a word about it though. You were grateful though. Wolfsbane potions are quite expensive. Besides that, being a werewolf was problematic. If people knew about it, they would judge you. You couldn’t help it you were attacked by a werewolf once. You were bitten and they just couldn’t cure it. You would just have to live with it.

You were carrying a bag with the potion for a later today. You were minding your own business until someone bumped into you. Your eyes widened when your bag fell on the ground. You could hear the potion shatter. You cursed under your breath. “Watch where you are going, Y/L/N.” Of course, it just had to be Merula you bumped into. “Maybe you should watch where you are going Snyde…” You said seriously. “You were the one who was daydreaming.” She said. “Oh, I suppose you couldn’t take a step aside then.” You said, frowning. “The great Merula feels too good to take a step aside.” You hissed at her. She blinked. “Whatever…” She said and then she signed to Ismelda to come along with her. You kept glaring at Merula until she was out of sight. You picked up your bag and sighed. You were fucked… You weren’t just going to tell Dumbledore ‘Hey, Merula bumped into me and the Wolfsbane potion shattered’. No, you needed to fix this yourself… Maybe you could brew it yourself? No, that is a quite advanced potion, you haven’t even got that far… You could ask someone… Although it would be suspicious to ask for that… Although, you were desperate. You needed the Wolfsbane potion, otherwise you would lose control over yourself when you transformed.

 There was just one person you could ask… Although, you knew she didn’t like werewolves at all. She was basically traumatized by one. Her friend was murdered by a werewolf. This wasn’t going to be fun, you knew that… Although, she was your only hope at this point. You needed to talk to Penny about this in private. You took a deep breath and decided to look for her. Maybe it would be good to tell someone as well? No one knew after all. Yeah, you tried to be positive about this, but it was hard.

Penny was standing there with some other Hufflepuffs. She seemed to be chatting happily. Good Merlin, she looked pretty cute when she was happy. She definitely was one of your best-looking friends, you were sure about that. She also was very kind, but definitely not fearful for a lot of things. She was always happy to help you out when you needed help, maybe, just maybe, she would be happy to help now as well. You approached her and gave her a smile. “Hey Penny, can I talk to you?” You asked. “Oh, hey Y/N.” She greeted. “Sure, where shall we talk?” She asked. “Somewhere private if you don’t mind.” You said. Penny looked at the two other Hufflepuffs. “I will talk to you two later.” She said. The two Hufflepuff nodded and said their goodbyes. After that, you and Penny began walking somewhere more private. You ended up in the Artefact room. It was the most private place to be now.

 “What do you want to talk about?” Penny asked when you two were alone. “I wanted to ask for your help.” You said seriously. “Oh, with the Cursed Vaults.” She asked. You shook your head. “No, it is something else, something really complicated.” You said. She blinked. What could be more complicated than the Cursed Vaults? She was sure this was something more personal. “Penny, I’m going to warn you though. It might not be pretty to hear this.” You said, glancing away a little. “It can’t be that bad, can it?” She asked. “It is pretty bad, believe me.” You told her. “No other student or friend knows about this.” You said. “So, the professors know?” She asked. You nodded. “A few of them know.” You said. “All right, I suppose this is something hard to understand, so I will try my best.” She said. “How… how familiar are you with brewing a Wolfsbane potion…?” You asked. “A Wolfsbane potion? I can brew it, but why would you ne-….”

 Penny’s eyes widened, realizing what you meant. “You… Are you really…?” “A werewolf, yes…” You said honestly. “But… but how?” She asked. “I was attacked by one and I ended up being infected. It’s incurable.” You said honestly. “So, you never told anyone else about this…? Not even Rowan?” She asked. You shook your head. “It’s not something I should tell anybody. You can already imagine what parents would say if they heard a werewolf attends Hogwarts.” You said honestly. “Do you get a Wolfsbane potion from Dumbledore? Well, probably from Snape.” She said. “Yes, every week prior to a full moon I get a Wolfbane potion every day.” You told her. “So, why do you want me to brew it for you. “Well… I bumped into Merula and my bag dropped. It shattered in my bag…” You said, rubbing the back of your head. “Please Penny, could you brew it for me? I don’t want to lose control during the full moon. I really don’t want to hurt anyone.” You said, almost begging for her help.

 “Of course, I will brew it for you!” Penny said. “I mean, I don’t want you to lose control during the full moon. I know how dangerous a werewolf can be after all…” She said honestly. “Yeah… That’s why I thought it would be hard to ask you… It is quite a sensitive topic after all…” You said softly. She gave you a small smile and placed a hand on your shoulder. “If I can help you to keep control over your own form, then I’m glad to help you out.” She said honestly. “I mean, you were not the same werewolf who attacked Scarlett.” She said, frowning a little when she remembered that event. She shook her head a little and gave you a smile. “Well, let’s go to the potion classroom. I’m pretty sure it is empty now.” She said, grabbing your hand. She basically dragged you out of the Artefact room. She didn’t talk the whole way to the Potions classroom. She didn’t want to talk out loud about what she just heard. She wasn’t going to tell anyone about this. She wouldn’t be a good friend if she did tell anyone.

 Once you two were in the Potions Classroom she told you to get certain ingredients. You grabbed what she said and just helped her a little by getting her the things she needed to brew the potion. You knew it was important the Wolfsbane potion was brewed perfectly, otherwise it wouldn’t have any effect on you. You just watched Penny working hard on brewing the potion. It really took quite a while before Penny was done. “Ta-da! Here you go, one freshly brewed Wolfsbane potion. You should probably take it now. That way we can be sure Merula can’t bump into you again.” She said, handing you the potion. “Thanks Penny, you are the best.” You said before you slowly took the potion. The potion was disgusting, but it was worth it. “I heard it really tastes bad.” Penny said. “I suppose my face was making it obvious as well.” You said with a grin. “Very obvious.” She said. “If you don’t mind. Can you tell me if the potion has worked after the full moon? I mean, I’m not a Potions master yet. I think I did it perfectly, but you never know.” She said. “I will tell you about it.” You told her.

Thank goodness… The full moon was over and you wouldn’t have to deal with it for another month. You had full control over yourself after you transformed. From a secret source you heard the Shrieking Shack was a safe place to transform. People wouldn’t come there anyways. They all thought the place was haunted. You were grateful for whoever sent you that information. Madam Pomfrey seemed to know about the place as well. Even though you could use Wolfsbane potions, it was probably better to be as far as possible from other people. You didn’t want to risk it after all.

 You began looking for Penny, wanting to tell her the potion she brewed worked as well. If one potion failed, the others would fail as well. You spotted Penny near her common room in the Dungeons. You walked over to her with a smile. “It worked.” You told her. She looked at you and then she began smiling as well. She basically jumped towards you to give you a hug. She had her arms wrapped around your neck. “I’m really glad!” She said honestly. “I was worried I might did something wrong.” She said. “No, it worked just fine, it was an easy night.” You told her honestly. “That’s good.” She said honestly. “Also, I was thinking… I know about this, but wouldn’t it be time to tell our other friends?” She asked. You grimaced a little. “I don’t know… I mean, it isn’t something to really share….” You said honestly. “Y/N, they are your friends, they will understand.” She said honestly. “If it makes you feel better, I can be there to support you.” She said. “Please Y/N. I’m sure it will be for the best. You can’t hide this forever for them.” She said. You sighed and then you nodded. “I suppose you are right…” You said. “That doesn’t mean I will do it now.” You said. “Maybe, once the next full moon is getting near again… It might make more sense if I do it then.” You said.

 Penny took a step back and took one of your hands. “I’m sure it will turn out all right.” She said honestly, squeezing your hand lightly. “Just tell them like you told me. That way, it won’t be too direct.” She said. “I suppose I could think up something to tell them.” You said. “Great.” She said. “I was about to go to the Great Hall, care to join me?” She asked with a sweet smile. “Sure, I would love to join you.” You said honestly. She smiled, still holding your hand when you walked with her towards the Great Hall. You blinked a little, wondering why she was still holding your hand. You didn’t mind it. No, you actually enjoyed her holding your hand. Her hand was soft and warm. You wouldn’t mind holding her hands more often. You softly squeezed her hand. She blushed slightly when you did that, realizing what she was doing.

 “Oh Merlin, I’m sorry… I didn’t realize I was still holding your hand.” She said, about to let go of your hand. “It is fine. I actually like it.” You told her. She was surprised. “Really?” She asked. You nodded. “Yeah, I like it when you hold my hand.” You said honestly, blushing a little. “I suppose I can do it more often then.” She suddenly said. You blinked. Did you hear that right? “You would?” You asked. “Well, yeah. I mean I like holding your hand.” She said. “Maybe I even would like to do more than just holding hands?” She said, blushing more. “Oh really? Like what?” You decided to ask with a smirk, although you were still blushing. She stopped walking and then she turned to look at you.
