And so we have reached the last Compliments Post of 2023! Can’t believe we’re here and everything the last 6 months have brought us - it’s been a whirlwind! I shall ramble more at the end of this post, but for right now, let’s get into it :-

MY DEAD FRIEND (BTS & Livestream)

To kick off the month we were blessed with what I would consider my favourite sketch of the year, and of course along with that we also got…

Bloopers: My Dead Friend

Ian and Anthony were ON ONE in this, it was wild! Not that I’m complaining!

I&A: [discussing Anthony carrying Ian in the sketch]

Anthony: “And now we’re going to learn what it’s like for me to hold you, to cradle you like a baby while I’m wearing this stuff [his costume].”

Ian: “Yeah, you seem to really want to do that…”

Anthony: “I do really want to do that. I’ve written it into every sketch and this is the first one that finally made it to camera.”

I mean… WHAT!? Anthony’s written himself carrying Ian into every script 👀 Well glad your wishes came true Anthony - hope you get to do it again!

Anthony: [climbing up trees to remove wind chimes]

Ian: “Be careful Anthony.”

Anthony: [removes them and passes them down to Ian] “Wow, we’re domesticated.”

Yes, yes you are 🤭

Then came the moment of Anthony (and us) had all been waiting for - Anthony carrying Ian 🙌

So they tried a few different ways before settling on the one that was in the sketch (bridal/baby style), and Anthony was being so cute reassuring Ian that he could carry him ☺️

Anthony: [lifts Ian up over his shoulders]

Ian’s: “Ohhhh goooo-ohhhh.”

Anthony: “I got you bud.”

…

Anthony: “Jump.” [lifts Ian bridal style] “Also easy.”

Only reason Anthony works out is so he can carry Ian 😜

…

Anthony: [carrying Ian over his shoulders again and finds out Ian didn’t want matcha today] “Wait, I’m not carrying a matcha girlie right now?”

Ian: “No, there’s no matcha girlie today.”

Anthony: “You get down.” [sets Ian down on the ground]

Ian: [pouts] “But I want uppies.”

Ian perpetuating the bby girl title once again 💁‍♀️

Okay, now what to say about the ending of this BTS… I can’t describe it as anything other than Ian and Anthony just basically flirting for 5 minutes 🤭

I&A: [smiling at each other]

Anthony: “Don’t get near me.”

Ian: “What?”

Anthony: “I know you’re trying to…”

Erin: “He still has it doesn’t he?”

Anthony: “Yeah he has it, he’s trying to put it in my pocket.”

…

Ian: [continuing to mess about trying to put the thing into Anthony’s pocket]

Anthony: “Do you think that I don’t notice when you’re touching inside my pocket?”

…

Ian: [laughs]

Anthony: “What is so goddamn funny?”

Ian: [still laughing] “Nothing…”

Anthony: [tries to talk about the sketch] “-why do you keep looking down all weird?”

Ian: [laughing] “What…?”

Anthony: “What’s in your hand?” [tries to grab Ian’s hand] “What’s in your hand?! Drop it!”

Ian: “What?”

Anthony: “Drop it!

Ian: “What?”

Anthony: “What’s in your hand?”

Ian: “Nothing’s in my hand…. Nothing’s in my hand…” [shows empty hand] “Nothing’s in my hand.”

Anthony: “This guy has some weird shit in his hand.”

Ian: “There’s nothing in my hand!”

Anthony: “I’m watching where your hands go.”

Ian: [flings what he was holding into Anthony’s costume and points at it] “What’s in there? What’s that?”

Anthony: [shaking his head] “Wow I could have never seen this coming.”

Ian: “What’s there?”

Anthony: “I can’t believe it, the thing I put in your pocket is suddenly- I can’t reach it cause my arms don’t reach, don’t move that much. I literally can’t reach it because…”

Ian: “This thing?” [reaches into Anthony’s chest to pull it out] “I can’t get it, it’s gone forever.”

Anthony: “Some good exclusive members only content right there.”

Ian: “Just violently groping you.”

Anthony: “Yeah, I will not say how hard my nipple is or is not.”

Ian: “Okay…. Well thank you guys so much for watching, thank you so much for supporting this…”

I&A: [laughs]

Anthony: “Smoshtastic and Smosh Royalty members we could not do this without you.”

Ian: “We cannot do- we cannot violently grope each other without you.”

Anthony: “And I know that’s what you came here- I know that’s why you paid $5 to $10 a month.”

And maybe it is Anthony! It’s money well spent! But seriously, that last section of the BTS was a gem! ✨

MY DEAD FRIEND Watch Party

Of course also on sketch Fridays we get a livestream and so this was just a few moments from said livestream that I took as complimentary :-

Ian: [trying to click something away on the computer] “I don’t know how to put this- get this away.”

Anthony: “Oh yeah, now Ian’s clicking- just click in the text box.” [points on screen on what to do]

Ian: “Oh yeah. Yeah, you’re smart.”

Just a cute little moment I wanted to include 😊

[discussing Ian’s birthday but then get distracted talking about BTS content]

Anthony: “Anyways, I’m seeing lots of references aside-” [places hand on Ian’s shoulder] “Do you want to speak anything more about your birthday, birthday boy?”

Okay but Anthony stopping mid-sentence when he realised they’d got distracted and moved on from Ian talking about his birthday and checking in incase he wanted to say something else 🥹 he’s so cute!!

[Chat question: Was it fun carrying Ian?]

Anthony: “Yeah. Did you watch the bloopers? Cause it shows in the bloopers that I tried to do all these different carrying positions…”

Ian: “Uh huh.”

Anthony: “But the baby- I wanted to cradle you like a baby, it’s funniest.”

Ian: “Yeah, it was good.”

Anthony: “It was fun. He’s good- he’s a good… he’s a good object to be carried.”

Ian: “Thank you. Oh my gosh.” [places hand over heart] “He called me an object, guys. Thank you.”

Okay know they’re kinda joking about here, but Anthony’s dug himself this hole that he enjoys carrying Ian so I couldn’t not include them referencing it again.

Anthony: “I think she’s just looking for a fun guy who’s willing to switch things up, and you, you really do, you provide that.”

Just Anthony complimenting Ian on being a fun date 👀

And that was it for this livestream! Moving on…

Is Anthony Nervous For His Funeral Roast? | Smosh Mouth

So Anthony was a guest on Smosh Mouth again, this time along with Courtney to discuss his upcoming funeral, and during the podcast they also spoke about Ian (of course) :-

Courtney: [talking about how the funeral, along with all the roasts are, is a celebration of the person in the casket]

Anthony: “Thank you. Thank you. I feel like it is, it’s not just me though. It’s a testament to both Ian and I coming together and reflecting on the beginnings of Smosh and what made it so special. And a huge part of that was Ian and I being able to just have fun together as friends, try to make each other laugh, be passionate about creating little fun projects, getting people excited about little dumb jokes and fun moments. And that’s, you know, going into working with everyone here. That’s what I really wanted to push, is for everyone to have the same kind of freedom to be passionate about creating funny, little dumb things together…”

He’s such a sweetie 🥰

[asking Anthony what he’s most nervous about for the roast]

Anthony: “Honestly, anytime that I’m roasted about something, even if it’s a little uncomfortable for a moment, I feel actually better about it because it’s not something that’s like not spoken about. Kinda like when Ian and I first came together on camera, and where like I’m reading my angry letter to him and stuff like that. Like, it was uncomfortable for me to see the things that I wrote 6 years earlier. I’m sure it was uncomfortable for him to hear some of that stuff, but because it was out in the open it made it feel like it wasn’t a taboo subject that couldn’t be spoken about anymore. And what’s interesting is that Ian and my friendship started deteriorating because there was so much pressure from every angle to work so much that we didn’t have any line of communication anymore. And I feel like if back then we had ways to even incorporate it into our work like it is now, then we would’ve had a closer friendship outside of work too. And it’s interesting that there are now these outlets for everyone here to kind of get stuff just out there and said. And it doesn’t feel like anything’s really too taboo to talk about within our group.”

Again, he’s so cute. But also bringing up what Ian and his friendship needed back in the day, knowing that they have that now will never not just be the nicest thought and something I’m so happy they now have ☺️

Shayne: “Who are you most nervous about as far as roasts? Like, is there a person you’re most afraid of?”

Anthony: “Umm… Yeah. Ian. I think he’s gonna go hardest cause he’s known me for so long.”

[Others discussing who they think will go the hardest]

Anthony: “I do think I am afraid of Ian’s most only because we have 20 plus years of history. So he can go anywhere.”

Shayne: “That’s true… Are you worried about him bringing back something up from like middle school or something?”

Anthony: “I have preemptively decided to bring up some stuff from our earliest years because I think he will do the same for me, so I have decided that is where I’m gonna go with some of these.”

[Others saying how they’re excited]

Amanda: “Okay, so Ian is the one that you’re most nervous about. And I guess Ian should be most nervous about you because damn.”

Anthony: “Honestly, yeah.” [points to the camera] “Ian, if you’re watching this, watch out. I hope your roasts are better than mine. I hope they go deeper. I hope you found something that I can’t remember. Likely not.” [taps side of head] “I got everything in here.”

Love how Anthony brings up Ian here, even with it being in the context of him being nervous for Ian’s roasts, Ian’s still on his mind. Even when the others were putting out other people who they think will go hard on him, Anthony still reiterated that Ian’s roast was the one he was most afraid of, and also how cute him bringing up twice how long they’ve known each other 😊

Reacting to Our Best Funeral Roasts

So another bit of promo they did for the Funeral was this livestream with Courtney, Shayne, and Tommy where they complied a list of some of their favourite past previous funeral roast moments that Anthony hadn’t seen for him to react to, to give him a taste of what he’d experienced at his own.

During the live they also had a board up with different incentives that would be unlocked depending on how many tickets they sold.

One of the incentives was that a fan submitted tweet would be posted off Anthony’s account. They quickly passed this incentive and went through a lot of different options before settling on the one that was tweeted, which was…

You heard it folks, Anthony loves his Ianussy 😏

Another cute little moment they had was when they were down to their last two cans they opened each others and then interlocked arms to eat cause besties! ✨

[Reacting to Ian’s funeral counter-roast and Ian saying to Courtney that “after Anthony left [she] stepped up and became the new person who shuts down every single idea [he] has.”]

Anthony: “I still don’t get that one cause I never shut down your ideas, Ian! You’re going to have to explain yourself at some point.”

Oop 🤭

Poor Anthony hates that bit so much, it isn’t the first time it’s been brought up 😅 HE WANTS EVERYONE TO KNOW HE BIGS IAN’S IDEAS UP 😤 His No1 supporter!

Anthony: “That’s round of applause worthy.” [clapping] “That was really good. That was definitely my favourite bit I’ve seen so far. That was so good.”

Of course Ian’s bit would be his favourite ☺️

Coming to the end of the live, they were wrapping up and saying their thank yous and goodbyes, and Anthony had one last thing to say :-

Anthony: “The world knows now that I love my Ianussy.”

I mean, we been knew 😌😉

PARANORMAL EASY BAKE OVEN (Flashback)

Anthony: “Oh, Ian’s going ham on them already. Oh.” [catches packets of sauce being flung to him]

Anthony: “Do you want, would you like some hot taco sauce? It’s for a hot taco.”

Ian: “I am a hot taco.”

Anthony: “Yeah.”

Ian: [reading what the packet says] “It’s hot for taco.”

Anthony: “Oh.”

Ian: “You thought it said it’s for a hot taco?”

Anthony: “Yeah.”

Poor Anthony. Your attempts at flirting were still good, babes. I’m sure Ian appreciated it 😘

[Reacting to the scene where we find out Anthony just wants Ian to sleep in his room]

Anthony: “What was the joke we were even getting at? Like, it was kind of a throwaway joke. I have no idea if we were implying that… I want you to sleep next to me?”

Ian: “Yeah, I think you just wanted a friend.”

Anthony: “Aw, I just want a friend.”

Ian: “To sleep next to you.”

Anthony: “Yeah.”

Ian: “You had your stuffed animals, and then you wanted your best friend in the bed too.”

Anthony: “Yeah, of course.”

Aw Anthony, you just wanna sleep next to your best friend 🤗

I spent a day with SHAYNE TOPP

So Anthony had Shayne on as a guest on ISADW and, of course, Ian was brought up - Anthony cannot help himself 😅 it’s very sweet though ☺️

[Talking about Shayne doing impressions of people]

Anthony: “Like earlier you did an impression of how you know when Ian’s nervous but he’ll never say it.”

Shayne: “So Ian whenever he’s leading a meeting, he gets like nervous burps I think, maybe.”

Anthony: [laughs]

Shayne: “But he’ll just kind of like, he’ll have the clicker for like the thing and he’ll be like ‘uh, yeah, so, um [covers mouth], we’re.. yeah, we’re doing that and um, it’s pretty good, and um yeah we’re really, we’re really excited.’”

Anthony: [laughing] “These are all the things that I noticed growing up with him.”

Anthony is so adorable, I love it! Also he loves bringing up the fact him and Ian grew up together/how long they’ve known each other, similar to what he done in the Smosh Mouth eps - what a cutie!

Anthony: [thanking Shayne for sticking with Smosh all this time] “I really, really respect everything that you’ve done, everything that you’ve contributed. How much you’ve um, you know been there with Smosh through so many ups and downs. How you’ve had so much faith in this brand and how you’ve pushed it to continue to be what it has always been at the heart, which like you mentioned a second ago, which has really been about that friendship and that connection that you feel with the people that you’re making this stuff with. You know the way that Ian and I started it was we just loved to make each other laugh, let’s capture that genuine friendship that we have together, let’s see if this connects with anyone, let’s see if it resonates with people and it did…”

Wouldn’t be a Compliments Post without Anthony saying something sappy about their friendship and making me want to cry 😩 I also took him thanking Shayne for sticking with Smosh as him also thanking him for sticking with Ian. I’m sure it somewhat softens the blow a little bit that even when Anthony himself couldn’t be by Ian’s side, Ian still had great people around him 🥺

Anthony's Funeral

So since Anthony died in Food Battle it was finally time to have a funeral for him! This was such a highly anticipated event and it did not disappoint! Of course as the Funerals go, it was mainly about roasting Anthony, but there's still always room for compliments and nice moments in amongst it all.

So it came to the end of the funeral and our host Pastor lan was wrapping up and after dubbing himself 'the hot one' and roasting baby Anthony, it was time to lay, in lan's words, 'Smosh's 2nd Hottest Member to rest’, but before that, as his script told him, he had to ‘insert a quick genuine comment about Anthony’ and boy did it deliver :-

lan: "But seriously though, I do feel so fortunate to have become your friend again, and honestly like I probably would have still been working at Chuck E. Cheese if it wasn't for everything that you did for Smosh. You are one of the hardest workers, you have such a great eye for content, and I'm so proud to be going down this path with you. Um... I love you.”

АААААННННННН!!!!

IT HAPPENED!!!!! IT REALLY HAPPENED!!!!!

I still cannot believe this is reality and we actually heard lan telling Anthony he loves him. I WILL SCREAM ABOUT THIS FOREVER!!!! And from the reactions of Anthony and the rest of the cast, this was HUGE. I don't lan had ever told him before 😭Also, during that whole speech Anthony was getting emotional after lan told him he loves him you see him trying to hold back from crying which just makes the whole situation even more tender 🥹

Before lan can show Anthony his 🍆 lol, Anthony rises from the dead for his counter-roast, and the first thing he mentions is about having water in his eyes whilst he wipes them away 🥺

During his counter-roast he keeps teasing lan as if he's next, but of course he leaves his bestie till last. After roasting him about how he hides his emotions, embarrassing stories from their childhood and his flirting techniques, Anthony thanks everyone and says how appreciates everyone welcoming him back into Smosh and how he is proud of everyone who played a part in making the funeral what it was and for showing him love by roasting him.

Anthony: "I am just so grateful for you... lan said when we bought back Smosh, 'If we burn it to the ground I'm happy to do that with you' and after tonight... I think that sounds pretty good, I'm going to burn the place down. You have 5 minutes to get the fuck out and meet us at our VIP Aftershow."

Yes he ended this with a joke but all the nice stuff beforehand still stands, and to bring up what lan said about 'burning it to the ground' is so sweet 🥲

And speaking of the Aftershow, we got some moments from that too, including another very special moment :-

Sax-Man: "Can I just say, comparing how I look and how you look is the difference between when Anthony was here and when Anthony wasn't."

Anthony: [laughs]

Sax-Man "I'm just like a virgin nerd and all of you are so sexy."

Cast: [laughs]

Sax-Man: "And that's what Anthony does."

lan: "That's what Anthony does."

Just lan agreeing that Anthony brings the sexiness 👀

[Q: Anthony what was your favourite roast?]

Anthony: "How about the one where lan laid into my baby photo? It's not my fault I got past my ugly phase super quick."

Okay, so slight compliment with a roast, but still, he chose lan's roast as his favourite!

THEYRE SO FUCKING CUTE!!!! I cannot believe we got an ‘I love you’ from both of them to the other!!! I'll be reeling over this for A LONG TIME!

So this next bit they were just messing about but still funny and complimentary-by-extension (in a way lol). Ian starts doing a bit called Pickleball TV and creating a character for Anthony as he’s on a streak of keeping the ball up, until, he eventually drops it and he falls to his knees pretending to be devastated and everything Ian starts saying he repeats :-

Ian: “I bet he’s never going to recover from that.”

Anthony: “I’ll never recover from that.”

Ian: “I bet he’s really rethinking his life choices.”

Anthony: “I’m rethinking all my life choices.”

Ian: “I bet he thinks Ian’s the hot one.”

Anthony: “I think…” [laughs]

Ian: “Yeah, I bet he thinks Ian’s the hot one.”

Anthony: “I think Ian’s the hot one.”

He said it so I’ll take it! Anthony thinks Ian’s the hot one 😌😜

Bluetooth Speaker Ruins Date Watch Party

Of course we got our usual sketch Friday livestream which included a few complimentary moments :-

Anthony: “I don’t know enough about that, I don’t listen to alpha male podcasts.”

Ian: “You don’t need to go down that rabbit hole, my boy.”

Kings! Yes, do not go down that rabbit hole - you’re actually decent men and that’s why we love you! Anyways, just thought it was cute how Ian referred to him as ‘my boy’.

Anthony: [reads chat comment] “Oh, your sweater is matching your eye colour. Was that on purpose?”

Ian: [leans forward, batting his eyelashes and acts all cutesy]

Anthony: “Was that on purpose?”

Ian: “Maybe…”

Anthony: “Cause it brings out of the colours of your eyes?”

Ian: “Maybe…”

Anthony: “That’s so cute.”

Just Anthony basically telling Ian he looks cute in his sweater 😌

Anthony: “Um, but Arasha was amazing and I had such a good time writing it and then getting to direct those scenes,” [looks at Ian] “with you, and Arasha.”

Very cute Anthony just wanting to tell him what a good time he had working with him ☺️

Ian: [talking about the reasoning for casting Arasha as his date in the sketch and how they wanted it to be more of a short-film feel] “But Arasha is like rom-com lead material.”

Anthony: “I agree. And you’re rom-com lead material too.”

Speaking of rom-coms, this live quickly spiralled into I don’t even know what as Ian goes off on his rom-com plot spiel. I summed it up in this post I made here.

Anthony: “Ian, you fucking crushed it.”

Ian: “Aww, thanks.”

Which Friendship Will Win? (Everybody 1, 2, Switch)

Also on the same day we were blessed with this video! It finally happened! The boys played 1, 2, Switch again! And of course the compliments were flowing and the bestie-ism shining through 😁 Like the last time they played this, there were just so many moments that instead of writing them down I thought l'd put together a little compilation of some of the best moments like I done before. Hope you enjoy! :-

An Honest Conversation with Smosh

So we got another 2hr interview with the boys! This time on The Colin and Samir Show podcast. I quite enjoyed this interview as they talked about some different things and it didn’t just feel like we were hearing about a lot of the stuff we already know this time around so it was interesting getting to learn some new stuff :-

Ian: [talking about their work/shoot schedule]

Colin: “Is that how your mind kind of works? Like are you the producer mindset?”

Ian: “Hell no.”

Anthony: [laughs]

Colin: “No, you’re not?”

Ian: “No.”

Anthony: “But he does handle a lot more of the pre-production with approving the looks and ideas for kind of what we were thinking while writing.”

Ian: “Yeah, yeah, I try to because Anthony’s got like a whole different channel that he’s also working on so I’m trying to handle like more, generally like trying to handle more of like the shot listing.”

Anthony: “But I’ve got my hands deep in post-production because that’s, when we first started making the videos, Ian was handling a little bit more of pre-production, I was handling more post, and we kind of just fell into that naturally again because I’m obsessed with editing and I love it. I was an editor on all the Smosh videos myself for like 10 years or something and so,”

Ian: “And I hate editing.”

Anthony: [laughs] “So because I did it for so long myself I feel like I have a grasp of how to communicate ideas in that sense, so yeah, he’s more pre-production and I’m more post-production.”

What I was saying about us getting to learn some new stuff, they’ve not spoken much about how they work on the production side of things. But I like that they seem to have worked out a good balance, again goes back to all the talk of their dynamic of working together. I also love how they threw a little compliment in there to each other - Anthony chiming in to say how Ian handles more pre-production. And Ian brining up how Anthony has another channel to work on. Very sweet ☺️

Ian: [explaining how the original ‘new cast’ weren’t introduced properly at the time and how audiences were (rightfully) not happy but how it panned out alright in the end and how some of the cast have been there 8 years now]

Anthony: “It did pan out but it needed to be a slow, gradual thing and the audience needed to slowly and gradually get accustomed to them and we found places-” [points to Ian] “You know, you found places where the new cast can shine in their own right…”

Just love Anthony stopping himself mid-sentence to highlight and give Ian the praise once again for the work he done with the new cast.

I&A: [talking about how they didn’t stay in touch much during the ‘between years’ and thought they couldn’t be friends again because they thought they’d became totally different people and grown too far apart]

Samir: “What was the experience of watching each other’s content at that time?”

Anthony: [smiling] “I looked at Ian because I don’t think he’s ever answered this.” [laughing]

Ian: “Um, I mean like I watched it in the beginning, like when he first like split off cause I wanted to like keep eyes on like what he was doing.”

This is something they’ve mentioned before, about the fact they were keeping tabs on what the other was doing, I think it just further adds to how much they were missing each other during those years 🥺

I&A: [talking about the resentment they felt and how they were trying to prove to people they could make it without the other]

Anthony: “…So I feel like when I kind of, when I started you know going to therapy, learning about myself, learning where these insecurities came from, learning where that like frustration was actually coming from and it was my own insecurity, my own desire to have validation and my own sense of self worth attached this thing [Smosh]. When I learned all those things I started to kind of let that stuff go.” [points to Ian] “Ian had his own personal journey as well, but we each kind of had to have our own journeys apart, accepting what had happened, accepting where we were now for you know when we finally did end up meeting up - one of Ian’s friends, you [Ian] mentioned this before you were talking to them, kind of mentioning me and they were like ‘why don’t you just meet up?’”

Ian: “Yeah.”

Samir: “Diana?”

Ian: “Yeah.”

Anthony: [laughs] “Yeah, yeah. Yeah so we ended up meeting up over lunch and because we didn’t hold on to that resentment anymore at that point we were able to just, really just genuinely connect. I felt him like listening to me in a way that like the past, like the final like 5 years of me being there kind of had disappeared. I was genuinely interested, we were just like had this genuine interest in each other - we were cracking little jokes and we were laughing just like we always had. I had learned a lot also with my own show and how to communicate better, how to listen better, how to have conversations about things that I’m genuinely interested in and every single thing, every single thing that we had done apart I feel like culminated in this moment of us together and reconnecting and realising that we really were at the core still the friends that we’d always been.”

Yes we have heard this so many times but I’ll never stop loving Anthony being sappy about their friendship 🥹

Ian: [talking about how new entertainers and content creators coming up now grew up watching Smosh] “I think like now with like us buying Smosh back like this is such like an exciting time, an exciting generation for Smosh. It feels like a new sort of like stage.”

Samir: “I hope you feel the and get the credit for sticking it out and believing in it because belief I think is an undervalued component of these creative businesses because you have to work through times where either in the beginning when you have so much belief because like no one’s watching, like you [Anthony] were talking about launching a new format, it’s like you’ve got to believe that this thing is going to work and your creative is good and for you, like the belief through these tumultuous years that Smosh was so important and it was, it had a good storytelling DNA and it was a good comedy brand like as it’s going through this turbulence, that’s hard.”

Anthony: “Yeah, I definitely lost my belief in it.”

Samir: “It’s easier to go ‘forget about it’.”

Colin: “And people are commenting ‘what are you doing?’ and you’re like ‘I don’t know. I don’t know but I can’t tell you that’.”

Anthony: “Yeah, I felt so slighted by Defy that I completely lost hope in what Smosh was. So yeah, I mean the fact that you [Ian] stuck through it, even though I didn’t see it, a lot of people didn’t quite see it.”

Ian: “I mean I feel pretty validated now.”

Samir: “How do you guys ensure that you don’t split up again?”

I&A: [laughs]

Samir: “Like how do you think about that now, obviously you’re at a different maturity level, but you know we’re also, we started the conversation talking about creative partnerships, we’re in a creative partnership, like for other people who are doing this together how do you, what have you learned from your journey and how do you take that into the future?”

Anthony: “I learned that our biggest issue was lack of communication. I was thinking all these things and getting frustrated about things but never just outright saying it. Also I think there was a period of time at the end where we just completely stopped saying ‘how are you?’, you know ‘what’s going on in your world?’ and we stopped just hanging out for the sake of hanging out, it was only, cause we were working so much and we were probably spending like 40 hours a week together but we were just working, working, working the whole time so for me it’s about just having this space where it’s not about work, where it’s about connecting, where it’s about understanding, it’s like ‘how are you? how are things going? what did you think about the way things went today?’, I think even that feels like it’s enough and also I’ve been doing a a lot of work on myself through therapy to understand where certain things and feelings start coming from so I’m not quite as often feeling like it’s external things in my life that are upsetting me and I realise that it really is something that I need to work on myself that’s upsetting me, so that’s helped.”

Ian: “And I think we just have like a healthier approach to the process when we are working together, like when it comes to writing we’re not trying to put this like insane crunch on us where like ‘we need to just get to work right now and we have to write a script by 12:00pm or else we’re going to be-’ like we try to lay a whole day out so it’s like I show up to his place and we hang out, we talk for a little bit, we don’t like get right into it if we don’t have to.”

Anthony: “It kind of feels like it’s necessary now to have those breaths.”

Ian: “It’s just for us, it’s like it’s just finding like a flow, rather than feeling the stress that we sometimes do feel if we are constrained by time - then it like stops being fun, like it’s like you know, it’s like sometimes you do need that, you do need like a little bit of a…” [makes a prodding motion]

Anthony: [laughs] “A prodding?”

Ian: “Motivation.”

Just wanted to pause here for a moment before continuing with this section of them talking about this topic. It’s something I’ve reiterated time and time again, but I love that they take that time now for each other to catch up and see how the other is doing. I know it’s something that has been touched on multiple times but I think it just shows how serious they are about making their relationship work in a healthy way so that their connection does remain strong and they do remain together as a team. It’s such lovely growth between them and just shows how far they’ve come.

Ian: “…I want to say like when uh, so we carved out an entire weekend, we were like ‘okay we’re going to treat this like a writing retreat’ for when we wrote Food Battle, but like the first, like I think half of the day we probably, we were dealing with like personal issues and we just like talked through that.”

Anthony: “And you were saying that part of you was like ‘[looks at fake watch] okay but we gotta work.” [laughs]

Ian: “Yeah, I mean yeah, but also it’s like ‘let’s get right’ and like obviously you know we had things that were going on and it was like you know, I think it’s important for us to show up as friends first.”

Food Battle Sleepover Weekend 🙌 I’ll never get tired of hearing about this! And I think it’s so special they done that together and from the sounds of it, it’s something they really needed to have a good heart-to-heart 🥰

Anthony: “I mean for me it would be about creating a place where, I mean just creating a really, really great environment for people to work and be creative and have fun and share laughs and create comedy. I want- I would love for people to look at Smosh as a brand as something that still carries those, the root of Ian and my friendship that it was built on with it…”

Anthony being a sap for their friendship once again and making me cry, once again 😭

The following day, we got another podcast featuring the boys. I really enjoyed this podcast also - it felt more like just a laid back chat than anything else so it was a nice change from the other podcasts they’ve done. Annoying Orange Creator Breaks Down Controversies

Last Flashback of the year, this time with Dane Boe as a guest. Was the first non-Smosh guest they’ve had on the show so was quite a different eps. They watched some original Annoying Orange sketches and also watched the eps they featured on back in 2010, they ended up getting on to topics surrounding gender and the LGBT+ community and all in all it was a very wholesome but important chat that I definitely recommend checking out if you haven’t.

Now in terms of Ianthony compliments in this video, there weren’t really any besides this one little moment, another complimentary-by-extension moment. Where Anthony makes a pun-y joke and Ian puts his hand up and they give each other one of their little high-fives and because it is also another sub-genre of these posts, and Friendship Always Wins, how could I not include it 😉

Anthony wasn’t the only one on a nostalgia kick - as a little holiday bonus, members got an eps of Smosh Is Bored! 🙌 The nostalgia that hit me, and I’m sure many others, when I saw that intro 🥹

So throwing it back to just like old times, they had a drawing competition between them, this time drawing some of the new cast members. We also got a few complimentary moments between them, even if they were laced with slight sarcasm because let’s be real, none of the drawings were good lol. But hey, ho - I’m including them anyways 🤭 :-

Anyway, I'm an ambiverted female. I may seem quiet and unapproachable at first, but once I get close with someone, I'm a completely different person; I'm a bit charismatic, I like to joke around and I love to engage in playful banter with my friends. I'm also very often sarcastic and sometimes I like to tease my friends (and I don't mind being teased back). I'm also the type of friend in a group who tries to stop the rest from doing dumb shit, especially if I consider it too dumb or dangerous. You could say I'm the rational friend or even mom friend of the group maybe. I may come off as mean sometimes, but it's either my attempt at joking or trying to show that I care. I'm also not afraid to call someone out on their bullshit if I think they are going overboard and I value loyalty a lot.

As for my style, lately I've been dressing mostly in all black, kinda goth style (but I always wear pants, never skirts, I despise them lol). I also love silver jewelry, I always wear some visible earrings (usually dragon or snake themed) and I have a silver ring on each finger on both my hands (I feel almost naked without them).

My main interest/hobby is listening to music I guess, I can't love without it. Lately I've been into any rock type of music, heavy metal, pop-rock, hard rock, etc. Besides that, I also love to draw, read and travel. I guess I should also mention that I've been an equestrian for many years.

And lastly, my main love languages that I use are physical affection (I'm touch starved as hell), quality time and gift giving (basically anything besides words of affirmation, I'm shitty at that).

okay but think about small village in the woods au where Jungkook is like the town’s golden child. he’s nice, good looking, helpful… the list literally goes on

it’s no surprise that you fell for him early on, since you were a child. he was just so sweet and his smile was gorgeous and his voice so melodic. everyone had a crush on him but you definitely took it too far. it wasn’t your fault that he was so unapproachable that you had to admire from afar.

sure, he was always nice when he’d see you somewhere in the small farmer’s market filling your woven baskets with goods. he always said hello when the two of you would find yourselves walking in the same direction

he’s only unapproachable because of her. Her who has been Jungkook’s closest friend for a long time, always trailing after him, always latching on his arm. probably the one started the rumors that they would wed.

crazy enough, this was not the first time you’ve hidden somewhere to watch him. sometimes you’d be around a corner in the market watching him take lumber to some of the elders who couldn’t cut any. sometimes he’d offer bread to a stray child or show them magic tricks like a coin behind the ear

unlike you he was praised for everything he did. you were merely called a witch even tho you didn’t think you were. nobody trusted you or wanted to be around you so you didn’t have friends. the only nice one had been Jungkook

handsome and kind and unavailable jungkook who knocked on your cabin one stormy night much to your dismay. he was drenched in rain clutching something under his wool

you hadn’t even known what to say, he had never come to you door, you had no clue he knew you lived next to him

you didn’t say anything caught completely off guard. even in rain he looked good, still kind and pretty smile. you moved to the side letting him in and suddenly all the hanging herbs and spices in jars seemed ridiculous. the black cat sleeping on a book and the cauldron tucked away in the fireplace seemed bizarre.

he was nervous too mostly bc you were so quiet. “so… i heard you can help with injuries? i accidentally hurt myself earlier and—“ he lifted his shirt, a gash down his torso not deep but long

you bit your lip, well this was an excuse to stare. but still. you had a feeling any second she would barge in here and tell him you’re a freak. you left him for a second going to the kitchen opening up a jar. his nose scrunched at the smell but he tried not to say anything

“w-whats that?” he couldn’t help but ask when you crushed some dried berries and mixed it with what was in the jar. it was a dark green color, “swamp mud, helps with scratches”

“s-swamp mud?” he asked before wincing arrival the first cold touch of the paste. his muscles tensed like the skin around the cut was burning but you told him to leave it on for a few more minutes

he’s always known you. a sweet and shy person who kept to themselves and often times he found himself wanting to greet you. just let you know that you could always talk to him but you never do.

of course she always tries to tell him you’re a witch and a freak but he doesn’t believe it to bad. if she knew he came tonight she’d be missed but it was his decision. he knew if anyone could do something about the gash it was you, a healer

he watched you back away from him, tucking yourself into the window seat as the rain hit the windows harshly. the black cat coming by to curl around his foot while he felt embarrassing bare in front of you. you just seemed so innocent and gentle, he felt bad for the way the town treated you.

“what’s her name?” he asked about the cat. “salem and they go by he”

he smiled a little, the cat goes by he. before he could ask another question you were leaving to the kitchen again. a bucket of water and a rag in your hands as you pulled a stool in front of him

at this proximity he was able to get a good look at you. he hadn’t known minutes passed instead of seconds. he sees you sometimes in the market but you always keep your distance. usually he’s the one who has to stop with a hello and even then you don’t always talk. whenever he’s with her you don’t even look his way but in truth nobody does. why? he’s not sure but every now and then when he catches you in the woods smiling down at a bunny or bird it makes him smile. she always tries to tell him you’re a freak and stalker but he doesn’t believe that.

“does it hurt?” “huh?” “the cut” “oh, uh a little?”

actually not at all but he didn’t think when he responded. “alright, we’ll give it another minute or two.” he nodded wondering why he said it still hurt but he pushed the thought aside. instead he thought about your soft scent of rosemary and elderberry. up close he can tell you’re very pretty. well, he always thought you were pretty but right now it was different. he used to think you were cute with the shy smiles and soft voice but up close he can tell you’re just naturally pretty

she always tell him you’re obsessed with him. that you’re a freak who watches him in the woods. you’re just a loser with no friends. but he never listens, he has seen you in the woods before sketching in some book but he thinks it’s sweet. anytime he’d be cutting lumber and he’d catch you up on some tree branch sketching away he wouldn’t say anything. he didn’t want to scare you away but he always wondered what it is you sketched

after some time you didn’t ask him again if it hurt but if you would have he would’ve lied again. instead you dipped the rag into the warm water and began to wash away the dried paste. he prepared himself for the pain but there was none so instead he watched you

“there.” “what?” “it’s healed.” “oh” why was he disappointed? you left him to go back to the kitchen and as he looked down the gash had turned into scarred tissue but healed. you came back out with a little jar of the paste, “put this on before bed and soon the scar will fade.”

you sent him on his way before he could even say thank you and he was back in the rain with a jar in hand

the next time you saw him it was in the woods again. you were down by the swamp collecting more mud, unaware of Jungkook passing by with her. he stopped the second he found you crouched down on the floor, the end of your dressed costed in dirt and grass. she pulled in his arm, “let’s go to the market for some bread. hurry before y/n sees u—“

“y/n!” he left her there cutting through the meadow to the thicker marsh side. you looked up seeing him there before looking behind him where she stood glaring. immediately you got up turning to leave before she confronted you about Jungkook talking to you

he visibly frowned watching you walk away. “Jungkook just leave the witch alone. she’s a fre—Jungkook!” and he’s running after you calling your name but he couldn’t find you anymore. hw turned to her, “don’t talk about y/n like that anymore. she is sweet and kind”

you stayed in your cabin for a couple days. just enough time for Jungkook and her to stop looking for you. the other day by the swamp he probably told her how you helped him and was ready to chew you out for it. so you avoided them both. you haven’t even gone to watch him cut lumber but it was for the better. your obsession with him would turn into something more and you can’t dream about something you can’t have.

Jungkook knew your shy nature though and even if he didn’t see you out of the cabin in a couple days he had a feeling it had something to do with his friend. you must’ve heard her call you mean names and it scared you of. he didn’t want to scare you off. he wanted the opposite actually. so what did he do? he went out into the meadow where he could pick some herbs out for you. he had a feeling you weren’t into flowers or sweets so maybe he could try and coax you with things he knows you’ll like

so what happened? little jars of spices, rosemary, thyme, lavender, even that healing swamp mud, all packed nicely for you. set in front of your door everyday with the little notes here and there

it was ironic actually. you used to watch and obsess over him and now he’s the one watching and obsessing over you. making sure to be as loud and obvious as possible when he passed by your cabin or in the market he’d follow after you. he’d cut more lumber than necessary as an excuse to drop it off at people’s doorsteps, making sure to knock when he got to yours. the kind little witch who used to obsess over him was now his own growing obsession.

Right after I finished Aiden's route in Baldur's Gate 3, I decided to write a small text that will complete his own ending. I included Lorroakan here, cause in my version of timeline, they started to feel close to each other after first met (in which Aiden kicked Lorchie's ass really hard because he's a slavery hater and chain breaker for sure)

Lorroakan hated leaving his tower - even the invasion of illithids from the depths of the underground city could not shake his principles, and it was much easier to manage defensive processes while maintaining an unstable flow of magical energy in safety inside than outside in the epicenter of the massacre. Let those who consider themselves defenders of the city do this. However… The thought of one particular person never left my head even when it became clear: victory was on the side of the adventurers who decided to fight back the threat.

And yet, when it was all over, the cries of the defeated, newly converted victims of ceremorphosis died, and the refugees stopped bothering him with attempts to break into his house, the magician decided to go outside. The last words of the half-elf, whom he had seen quite often lately, did not want to leave his head - so often that he managed to get used to them and their “friends”, who had a habit of showing up on the threshold of the tower in their dirty armor, soaked in someone’s blood, brazenly examining every corner of his house for a moment, and even, it seems, stealing a couple of artifacts from him in the process. An unthinkable insolence that he could not tolerate and yet for some reason he forgave everything to his newfound acquaintance.

The magician himself was now thinking about how he would arrogantly reprimand this friend of his for the fact that solely because of him Lorroakan had to bother descending into a literal hell on earth, having the opportunity to contemplate the carnage that had taken place and endure the presence of not only ordinary, still frightened people, but also the stench of an alien city, wounded and practically destroyed.

Without bothering with pleasantries, he asked the aimlessly wandering locals about the heroes who put an end to the Absolute. Some still clutched makeshift weapons in their hands, unable to believe that the danger had retreated from Baldur's Gate, that it was all over. Finally, a couple of “unwashed militiamen” pointed to the pier - where the very same half-elf whom the magician so wanted to find was last seen.

Lorroakan, cursing everything that came into his field of vision, finally reached the right place and went down to the boardwalk of the pier. He did not take his eyes off the lonely silhouette of a young man in the rays of the setting sun, as if worried that he would now disappear like an illusory haze. That did not happen.

However, the magician tried to hide all unnecessary emotions, coming very close to the one he was so zealously looking for. Without wasting time on unnecessary honors to the “savior of the city,” he chuckled disdainfully:

- Are you without companions this time? Where is your noisy group of ragamuffins?

Aiden didn’t turn around at the stranger’s voice, but a smile was visible on theirs tired face. They wiped their own blood from the cut on cheek and shrugged.

- It's all over. Our story came to an end and everyone went their separate ways, and you were late for a tearful send-off. We don’t yet know which road we prefer.

The half-elf pulled a strand of red hair behind his ear and exhaled with a whistle.

- For the first time in many months, there is one less voice obsessed with world domination in my head. This change is surprisingly difficult to get used to, at least for now. And you? Have you come here to balance my loss? You're a so-so manipulator, don't flatter yourself with hopes.

Aiden didn’t see, but they knew perfectly well that the magician was now rolling his eyes and raising his right hand in a mannered gesture, as he always did, expressing his displeasure. Lorroakan crossed his arms and chuckled again.

- Oh, i beg you, how can I compete with your friends on the other side! Lolth, the incubus of Raphael, the Thai ghouls, your fragmented self, maybe there is someone else I don’t know about… But that’s not what I’m here for.

The magician crosses his arms over his chest and looks into the distance, where the sun is slowly sinking into the stormy ocean waters.

- I wanted to generously offer to stay in this terrible damn city, with me. After all your undoubtedly disgusting attempts to sabotage my well-deserved immortality, cripple me several times over that misunderstanding with the aasimar, and deprive me of my clueless student, I want, no, I demand, that you should live in my tower. You can take any vacant servant's position; today many of them chose to posthumously change their occupation.

The half-elf finally turns around and looks at Lorroacan mockingly, tilting their head slightly to the side.

- After becoming the savior of – no less – the entire world, being your servant is a huge step backwards, don’t you think?

Aiden takes a step towards the wizard and rests their forehead on his chest.

- Luckily for you, my services hardly require payment and we have no home to which we could return. And… We managed to get used to you.

- Hell, just don't force me to tell you the same thing!

Lorroakan frowns, but then the magician half-whispers and his voice is devoid of all feigned mannerisms:

- I need you. So I ask you to stay with me.

They will spend this night and all subsequent ones together.

The half-elf's hands rest on mage's shoulders. The wizard allows himself to exhale, hugging Aiden back.

Huddled close to each other, they watch as the unbearably long day recedes under the onslaught of dusk and the sun finally plunges into the depths of the waters.

2. Favorite canon thing about this character?

Velvette: Her attitude and looks. Seriously, girl is serving. Even though it is immature at times, I just love her overall aura and aesthetic. Plus, I love how observant we see her being in the bit of time she gets on screen and the fact that her looks change so frequently, which speaks to her position as a trendsetter and fashion designer.

Carmilla: Like Velvette, I like her attitude, but for different reasons. She's clearly been in position for awhile and that reflects in the way she conducts herself. I also love how she will literally murder for her family. I have a thing for protective characters who are also secretly soft with certain people (in this case, her daughters).

4. If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

Velvette: Oh, geez. I guess I never thought about it much. Maybe something akin to Project Runway/Rainbow where I could see her being a great judge.

Carmilla: This is super obvious, but considering Striker is mentioned as having a Carmine-crafted rifle, it would be cool to see her in Helluva Boss. I know it will never happen, but the idea intrigues me.

5. What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

Other than their respective songs from the show:

Velvette: Shameless by Camilla Cabello, but that's because I ship her with an OC of mine and it reflects that.

Carmilla: Sexy Bitch by David Guetta ft. Akon, for... reasons. I'm simping respectfully.

6. What's something you have in common with this character?

Velvette: Hmmm... Fashion, I suppose. Not in that we dress the same, but enjoy creating it (even if I just do sketches).

Carmilla: Not much, actually. The only thing I got is that we're protective of and will go to bat for those we care about.

Carmilla: No one, honestly. Like, she has traits in common with other fandom characters, but I can't peg just one character from a fandom I've been in as being similar. Or I'm just blanking right now.

okay Hi im taking a short break from drawing thangs to answer this :) 1. I don't think i'd ever pitch any of my personal oc stories as a TV show or film. I don't like the idea of losing control and copyright of a story so near and dear to me and esp with the current state media is in a lot of stuff would be censored/edited and because I don't live in the states pitching an animated show or film would probably be near impossible for a story like this anyway. A comic on the otherhand is something im genuinely considering, I'd have to figure out the plot fully and find the time to do something like that as well. The story was written to be easily made into a comic format though. 2. These specific robot characters I've only actually had for like,,, 7 months? A lot of work has gone into them in that time span tho. But I'm sorry there isn't a huge timeline where I'm like "I drew my first robot in 2008 and that is where tandy begun" I kinda always had a background interest in robots that just needed the right spark. Back in 2020 I did some AU art of already existing characters as robots (if you know who these are, hi) but these weren't really proper characters, just a fun art prompt.

But I bought Tandy as an adoptable back last september by the artist @acid-redux heres the original design I bought here:

It's actually by a pretty slim chance that I bought this guy! I saw the character a couple months earlier and decided not to buy him initially and came back, saw it was unsold and thought about it. Even after some people told me it wasn't worth the money to buy it I decided to buy him anyway. I said I had "ideas" for him, and that I did. This is the first drawing I ever did of Tandy, if you're wondering if there's like any art earlier than this like sketches or anything I don't really do that when it comes to drawing characters a lot of the time I just go right in. (also the most recent for comparison)

But yeah I totally fell in love with the character after that! I was instantly keen on doing a story with him though with who or what was debatable. Initially he had literally nobody to interact with, I was already openly objectum at this point so the earliest drawings of him show him interacting with computers.

My bestie Marty tho @bytevamp did a character trade with me and I asked if he could design me a character to interact with Tandy, all I specified was a computer robot that wasn't too close in model as Tandy and he made me Sierra :) his design alongside my first drawing of her:

this was the first drawing of Tandy and Sierra interacting. Tandy doesn't act this meekly in the current story and Sierra is a lot nicer than this to Tandy initially.

and after that I had a third robot that I still haven't found a proper place in my story/introduced him properly. His name is just "Tinbot" and he was meant to be a robot Sierra and Tandy help get back on its feet. I might have plans in the future for him but in the meantime he's on the backburner. (side note wtf is Tandy wearing)

I'd be here all day if I were to say all the robots vs their initial designs. I usually have other people design my robot characters though (sometimes in exchange for robot characters I designed) in the story the robots are built by different people so having a mix of people design them would better give that impression in my mind. My robot characters I design personally usually come from me scribbling ideas on a procreate canvas, saving them for later and if I can't stop thinking about that one robot I drew I'll fully design them, Lithium's first drawing was in the corner of one of these random sketches, something about his lack of fingers and him telling someone to KYS really spoke to me.

3. Speaking of Lithium... I had a few ideas rattling in my brain for how they met, It was either through Cathy, through Max or Lithium met Sonnet while she was working and went OO TINY ROBOT.

As for whether Sonnet realises Lithium is a bit of a dipshit, she's fully aware of his behaviour as much as anyone else is but prefers to view him through his more positive traits. Lithium isn't irredeemable or anything, Tandy just really really hates him

4. Fashion with robots is funny, the tails don't really come into play as much since they usually just stick them over their waistband or cut a hole in their pants since their cables aren't super big. I will say one thing that I don't think I've said before is that robots can actually remove their cable tails and stick them back on when they need to charge or whatever. But if you had the option to have a tail I think most people would say yes, and robots decide that as well. Phillip and Newton decide to do this a lot, Phillip is almost never seen with his tail and Newton takes it on n off or just sticks it in his pants where it doesn't stick out since its shorter. As for colour choice robots don't have any distinct reason to choose the colours they do? Some might prefer high contrast clothing or lighter coloured clothing if their eyesight is better suited for clothes like that.

9. Could you be roommates with this character?

Oh yea i mean we're both autistic and cooped up in our rooms to work. I also like music and play a little bit! I'm a good cook but I have literally no appetite, while Mandrake doesn't seem to cook but have a solid internal schedule, so we'd be quite compatible.

I suspect that it might just replicate what he has with Bella already? Except I'm certainly not going to take any of his toddler tantrums. I'm deadass not parenting his bitch ass if he tries me, he either eats what's on his plate or he fucks right off.

i imagine that it would inevitably turn into me asking him if he can summon the fattest energy drink ever in exchange of me cooking something that he likes or something. autistic stuff that i already do w one of my partners

12. What's a headcanon you have for this character?

omg omg omg where to start!! i could write an entire wiki of obnoxious headcanons!! How about something silly and small, like family and upbringing?

I headcanon Mandrake to have what could be considered as relatives back in the realm of daemons. This realm is divided in main fractions depending on alignment, clan and arcana. Mandrake comes from a fairly common circle with no major entities that impact the human realm, basically the daemon version of commoners. He's referred to as "Mandrake" in the human realm, but he's not the only Mandrake - daemons know how to differenciate, and it kinda works like middle age Europe in the way that your denomination will mostly depend on context. In his case, if a relative wants to specifically refer to our Mandrake, they'd link him to the notion of humanity due to his choice of living in the human realm.

Our Mandrake was born as a Mandrake daemon because his alignment is linked to the Mandragora genus of plants. Mandragoras (and the whole nightshade family in general) have been present in the human cognition for centuries through traditional practices of magic and medicine. The tropane alkaloids contained in mandragoras have a delirient hallucinogenic effect to the human organism.

Mandrake doesn't have a biological parent, he was simply spawned out of the grounds of some circle of Hell. Due to him being a Mandragora, it was an agonising process for himself and everyone involved. Daemonic entities are known to endure a form of intense anamnesis at birth, during which they experience the entirety of the emotions that they will go through in their (supposedly infinite) lifetime. Then they proceed to take their first form as a daemonic entity, forgetting about everything, now entirely non-verbal and almost imperceptible to the eye due to their inexact physical nature. Some say that certain humans experience something similar.

There are entities back in the demonic realm that Mandrake would consider as relatives! Most of them are based on the Solanacae plant family. I've sketched a few of them, they're very out-of-touch with human customs and Mandrake wouldn't feel comfortable with inviting them over. I actually have a snippet thingie where they get to meet Bella but she's considered and treated like a sort of pet

Here's a doodle from Gorô Miyazaki with Mandrake in a gakuran uniform, with a bit of a Banchō style to it??? I am obsessed with yankii and banchō fashion it is SO gender. Mandrake would 100% be a good obedient boy in his early teens due to his upbringing, then both Bella and Red would influence him into being a rowdy little shit. (but deep down he's still the most level-headed of the three)

kenny loves café and museum dates, though he'd be a bit worried that he's not smart enough to impress you if you go to a museum. he just really likes going because all the stuff is cool, but he's not one of those guys that can tell you more than the guide on any given tour. he might try to prepare and do a bit of research beforehand to try to show off though :)

it's very easy to tell that he didn't just happen to know all that stuff, but nonetheless it's incredibly cute

bonus points if you are the kind of person that can tell you more than the guide on any given tour. you'd have to correct him on some stuff. he'd be a bit embarrassed but his crush on you would only get bigger and bigger with that

if he wants to go for something a bit bigger or special he might ask if you want to book one of those weekends that you can spend at an apple orchard or a pumkin farm in the fall, it would be really sweet and he'd take the cutest pics of you <3

in town

his go-to would be a picnic in the nicest patch of woods that he can find. it's an easy choice because he's big on picnics in general, no matter where you are

he would pick some flowers for you and do his best to help you feel at ease. if you're new, you may be a bit worried about straying from the town even just a little bit, but he knows the place really well and he'd reassure you that the woods are safe as long as the sun is out

it'd be worth it when the knowledge of where you are begins to fade away. once you can no longer see colony house or the town, you start feeling like you could be on a normal hike, and that feels really nice

kenny would have changed out of his deputy uniform and into his nicest clothes for this and your heart would have nearly jumped out of your chest when you saw him looking like that for the first time <3<3

Opaline redesign! Have been wanting to this for a bit since I've been enjoying make your mark a lot but I feel like there are some things that could be improved on. Doesn't take away from my enjoyment but it does activate my creative brain!

Design:

So first up once I had the body shape sketched I wanted to add her accessories. In her original design these bracelet things she has kind of looks like dragons so I wanted to learn a bit into that. Also I made them shoes because that just makes sense and looks better imo.

I wanted to give her a classic princess necklace thing that has the same sort of emblem. I also added some gems on all the accessoires because you know I felt that was suitable.

I also gave her a crown because come on guys she's supposed to be a queen!! It was so easy! And it would make sense for her hair to be slicked back and also replace those weird ass braids she has going on in her original design.

For her hair I wanted it to be flames. She is mentioned to be born from fire but there is literally nothing in her design referencing this??? So yeah I don't know how doable this hair is on cgi but they could do something close to this I think, maybe just make it wild manes and have it luminate.

For her colours I wanted her colour palette to be very very cool. A colder purple, blue instead of turquoise. This pony is literally on fire but she looks like an ice queen. I was considering still adding some pink to be more like the original Opaline and have a nod to Misty plus have her be less "Nighmare Mooney", but I feel like the only purple and blue is a lot cleaner.

Character:

Maybe as you can see in her expression, I wanted her to be more serious. She's a different type of evil here. I wanted to really focus on how manipulating she is. Because within the show, she is! She says that if Misty messes up she'll give up on her, while the truth is, she can't do without her. She keeps saying that "do I have to do everything myself here?" but she never does anything herself. She can't, she needs Misty.

So yeah this Opaline is more serious, more quiet and mysterious. She doesn't do evil laughter, she doesn't do any laughter. There seems to be nothing able to impress her. She's cold and distant. Except she is also less actively mean than show Opaline. She doesn't degrade Misty nessecarily, she almost seems appreciative. Except she is never impressed by anything she does. Opaline is the kind of parent, grandparent, teacher or friend that you respect and desperately want to prove yourself to, but it never seems enough.

Needless to say this is a very unhealthy situation and puts Misty in a very difficult situation. Even when she's not forced to do things, the thought of disappointing this figure that's so important to her is so daunting that to her it doesn't seem like a choice.

Later on Misty becomes friends with the main 5, and let's see where the show goes first, hopefully she is able to join them along and get out of her extremely toxic situation. It will be very hard for her to go in against Opaline, but her friends will absolutely help her process all that's happened :)

I follow you as a fellow lapis stan. And I like thinking ideas of how viscous and amazingly dangerously powerful that blue gem is, whose also a dork who likes napping and jokes. I’m wondering what kinds of art does lapis like to do. Or if she’s real flexible in all kinds of mediums.

LMAO glad my blog is enjoyable for other Lapis Enthusiasts. Also actually you can get a good idea of what kind of stuff she does through both the show and the comics!

Going off the original run of SU, you can see at the beginning of her artistic development she seems to focus entirely on abstract sculpture. Her first pieces are very literal and usually involve arranging of objects without much or any change to the objects themselves. Her subjects tackle simple things from her life that she has fond memories of (playing baseball, getting a leaf, liking a show) however I would argue that in representing these moments these pieces could also represent some of her deeper emotions as they all involve things she went through and enjoyed after her defusing from Jasper and her positive readjustment to earth life. All in all, simple but respectable!

Later in the comics we get a look at what her 2D art looks like when she does an art lesson with Vidalia! She does what I would consider some pretty nice and fluid gesture sketches especially for an amateur. She does a good job capturing the flow of the poses in my opinion!

in the same comic she does this collaborative drawing with Peridot! It's actually pretty hard to tell who drew which parts (and I really doubt anyone was supposed to look this deep into it LMAOOOO) but if I had to guess I would say that the drawings of Peridot and her line up more with what we've seen of her style as it's a lot less crude than Peridot's (which was shown earlier in the comic).

Finally in SUF we get a look at what her art looks like now after 2 years of development! Her taste in sculpture has gotten a lot more grand and abstract, looking much less literal than her sculpture work we saw in SU. We can also see that she has both a sketch and a newsprint pad in her studio, which leads me to assume that she's still doing 2D art or at the very least teaching the fundamentals of it.

One last detail, in the last episode of SUF Steven gives her this 142 piece art set which she is super excited about, particularly about the watercolors (lol). Considering these are all materials used for illustration and painting that leads me further to believe that she still actively enjoys doing 2D work! I wish we had gotten a chance to see more of what her non sculpture work might look like, I wonder if it would be similarly abstract? Anyways this was a ridiculously long and detailed answer that I put a lot of thought into because I am autistic for both art and lapis LOL so thanks for bearing with me here

Tim and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job #31: “Origins” | March 16, 2009 - 12:30AM | S04E06

In this episode we get to find out how it all began. When Tim met Eric. When Eric met Tim… they’ve never run a website before! What are they going to?

At the end of the opening sequence, we start flash back with photos of earlier Awesome Show, Tom Goes to the Mayor, and their acclaimed viral hits Humpers and Cat Film Festival. We’ve now traveled back to the auspicious occasion of Eric meeting Tim, who has cool long hair, a pair of devil sticks, and plenty of Gen-X ‘tude. Eric looks like he stepped out of the Funky Groovin’ video (not really, he looks much weirder, but I wrote this sentence before rewatching the Funky Groovin’ video and I think I literally misremembered him being dressed like he is in this episode). Tim’s name is Q, but Eric needs him to change it to Tim because he already bought the domain timanderic.com. Q, now Tim, agrees to join the team of Tims. 

I like this one fine, but I respect it for being high-effort and a little cinematic. There are funny jokes and lines. Tim’s delivery of “they’re devil sticks, anyone can use ‘em” is great. The fact that the website is being run out of a huge building with Foosball tables and shit is so funny. They do a pretty good job skewering the 90s dot com boom, moments before the bubble burst. It ends with the website being hacked, unfortunately, meaning Tim and Eric never become famous or make this show I’m writing up. So, sorry for wasting your time, everyone. None of this is real. Everything I talk about from here on out is fake and made-up. (Joel Hodgeson voice) It’s like they’re just making all that stuff up.

The Married News Team show up for the first time in a while. They do a Brule sketch that again plays up the tension between the three due to Jan and Brule’s clear attraction to one another. There isn’t much to this sketch, which basically amounts to Jan getting hooked up to a machine that reveals she’s horny. The best moment is when Brule reacts to Jan’s freaking bra. Wait, why am I skipping around? That wasn't the first standalone sketch!! AHHH!!! I am going crazy!

The first standalone sketch of the episode is “Make My Bub Bubs Bounce”, which features a pregnant woman demanding a line up of would-be suitors make her “bub bubs” “bounce”. This isn’t explained directly in the sketch, but her Bub Bubs are the two fetuses in her womb, who won’t dance to just anything. The three men try in vain to make the woman’s Bub-Bubs dance, but then the master, Palmer Scott, arrives via jet pack (this is taking place on a weird video-game style jet-propelled platform) and gets the Bub-Bub’s bouncing.

This one feels like the kind of thing they would’ve split up into small parts and scatter throughout the episode, but this gets to play out as a complete work. I respect art, and i consider this art. Also, the whole concept of “Bub-Bub’s” and them bouncing does come off like childish bullshit that anyone could come up with, sure, but the video component really elevates the material. Despite (or possibly because of) it’s simplicity, it has found a permanent home in my head, and I reference it frequently whenever talking about a small pet or objectifying a body part. It’s good, I like it and respect it. 

There’s also “Daymare”, which hearkens back to similar season one style bits of brief silliness. They’ve done a couple bits that remind of season one. Tim and Eric really did take things back to basics in this season, and you gotta admit that sounded really smart of me to say. 

There’s also the Cinco Mouth Decorator, which holds the distinguished honor of being one of the very few sketches from the show that I had absolutely zero memory of. It’s nothing special, and seems pretty easily digestible as far as Tim and Eric goes. This would be the kind of thing SNL would do and people would go “THIS IS LIKE TIM AND ERIC! WOW!”. This one has it’s moments, though. The weird linger at the end is good.

uh!! pretty much anything!! books, comics, music, shows, films...any piece of media that makes me feel something jwksjs but i guess mainly books...? the fact is that i've always wanted to draw my favorite book characters/scenes and thomas and alastair were without a doubt the final straw lol, like i needed to draw these two idiots otherwise i would have gone insane hakjss *affectionately sighs* my fav boys <3

oh, this is funny! the fact is that i get distracted very easily and when i'm very focused on something i find it hard to do anything else at the same time....so watching shows? definitely out of question lol. listening to music? it depends! when i do the colouring/shading part it's fine, but for the sketch/lineart i rarely do it since it's the most challenging part for me and listening to music would just make me lose focus jsjs can you tell that i could never listen to music while studying/reading lol and about my favourite, hmm....i'm not sure i have? i usually listen to anything im obsessed with at the moment!! (although i have this '80s vibes' playlist im very proud of and that i listen to quite often while drawing <3)

Throwback to Dazecon for a minute and when my introduction on there ended up digging into a ten minute conversation with others on a Kagerou Daze/AI The Somnium Files group of ideas, of which included Shintaro with the Eneball.

This is my first attempt at doing a sketch page type thing rather than just drawing a solitary figure on a piece of paper and calling it one and done. It means you can also see me testing colours to make sure I got the right shit. This included me practising creating different skin tones with other colours before just getting the pencil I wanted, which once again has left me with a Shintaro that looks like he has spent too much time outside.

I wanted to give him some fresh drip for being in the "future" (literally in terms of when AI takes place compared to when Kagepro can assume to be taken, and sarcastically in that it's 2019 and we all know what people were wearing in 2019), and my friend was like "go triangles over squares," so here we are.

Also, Shintaro's a cop? Of sorts? Which is why he has a gun. And an AI-Ball. I promise he didn't just steal some shit. This is also why he has a necktie, to maintain some level of formality in his dress (read: his Boss forced him to). He also has a black suit jacket that he can actually wear in combination with the tie. I suppose that can be considered the XX equivalent?

It might be hard to see, but he's got a scar over the eye where Ene resides. As well, the Eneball appears bright blue at a distance, but up close has a gradient that shifts from bright blue to dark blue, like Aiba's iris shifting from yellow to orange up close but I used textas and positively fucked it. Anyways, I wonder how he got the scar over his eye~?

Second part featuring everyone's favourite cyber-girl, Ene. Third part featuring everyone's tragic heroine alter, Yaki.

He stared at the shifting summer sky. Bright, bright blue, painted over with oblong streaks of white, as the barest hint of red coul be seen in the corner of his eye. In his hand, a weight pressed down on the skin-tight glove that covered sweating, itching flesh.

An annoyed voice rang in his mind, not at all cute and definitely aggravating. Warning, challenging, mocking, and maybe, just maybe, caring. One that might have looked good in blue, like a bolt of lightning, maybe. Ha, she'd hate to hear that. A much gentler, much more carefree voice followed, openly showing concern and pitifully trying to reproach the former. A voice that felt like a bright green, as full of life as any healer, despite his actual taste in games and characters.

A third voice joined them, one that felt infinitely warm, infinitely kind, infinitely patient. One that felt much like that encroaching red summer sky, that signals endings and departures. It was a voice that suited the colour red much more than anyone else he knew, and much more than the voice thought it suited him.

A conversation played between the three, one that he could almost hear, could almost interject in, if only he would close his eyes, if only he would just listen-

But then an even more annoying voice echoed through his mind, blue as a lightning flash and somehow more irritating to be around.

"Master, Master! Are you okay!?"

He groaned. He wished he wasn't. He wanted to listen more. To talk more.

"Ugh... yeah. Yeah, just peachy."

But, he couldn't. He knew he couldn't. He bid farewell to the hazy figures once more, sitting upright and letting the sky fade from his view.

"Well, good! Y'know Master, if something like this kept you down, you'd be absolutely bullied down at the station! Maybe I should spread this recording around, just to give everyone a laugh..."

"You better not! And, don't you have to hand in recordings anyways? What's the threat here...?"

"Well Master, this super cute cyber girl only has to give in recordings related to cases. Something a bit more personal, though, like a certain leg folder..."

"Alright, I'm up, I'm up!"

As he let that now familiar blue voice fill his head, he stood, holding his Evolver firmly. God knows she would have given him shit for dropping her gun. Even if he tried to placate her in Shintaro's place, Shintaro would have to hide behind her and silently plead before he would be saved from any cruel and unusual punishments.

But, they'e not here.

Instead, he let his head fill with that blue voice. Instead, he thought of that old man with a voice like burnt orange. Instead, he thought of those bratty kids he helped take care of, an annoying orange, a painfully relatable cyan, and a deeply irritating magenta. Instead, he thought of those he might meet again, a kind green, a confident purple, a conniving black, a curious pink, a quiet lime.

Even if he might wish to disappear, he knows that even he has a place in the world. Even he has a place among others. So he'll stay. To protect that sort of peace he has reluctantly come to love.

He brings his Evolver up, and prepares to fight once more.

"Let's go, Ene."

"Of course, Master!"

Izzy Hands is a victim of his own success.  And not just in his construction of Blackbeard, which we'll get to... later.  Probably in another post.  But he's a victim of his own success in that he has created his own persona and nobody ever takes him for anything but surface value.  

Izzy's created himself as a capable, suave, smart individual who can handle anything that comes at him.  And, in a general sense, it's true.  He's helped Edward Teach create the Blackbeard myth, he's an obviously talented fencer and fighter, and he's reasonably (more in a minute) sure of his place in the world and what his responsibilities are.

And here's the thing.

Izzy's place in the world is just, "Blackbeard."  I mean, yes, you could expand that to "Blackbeard's right arm," because Izzy is Blackbeard's first mate, given that position by Blackbeard himself.  But I'd make the argument that it wasn't really because Izzy did anything exceptional; it's because Izzy was there, he helped construct Blackbeard, of course it makes sense that the next step would be making him first mate to help keep Blackbeard shored up.

And being first mate comes with a certain set of duties, like keeping the crew in line, basically being the captain when the captain isn't around.  And as long as he's doing it in Blackbeard's name, there's not that much required out of him; the fear of Blackbeard does most of the job for him, and he can fill in the rest.  And the crewmembers like Ivan and Fang (I love Fang so much) have probably figured this out.  I mean, they have zero respect for Izzy; consider the sketching in "The Best Revenge Is Dressing Well".  Wee John comes in and tells Lucius and Fang that "the boss" is back, and Fang literally shits himself thinking Blackbeard is back and hurries to get up, but John tells him, "it's just that angry fecker, Izzy" and the INSTANT reaction is laughter and "let him look."  And then he proceeds to spill the tea to Lucius about Izzy's misadventures at sea, which was meant only to humiliate Izzy.

Which brings us to the Revenge crew.

Absolutely none of them have respect for Izzy.  You'd think they would, because of who he purports to be (Blackbeard's First Mate), but their first experience with Izzy is... they run rings around him and Stede steals back one of their prisoners.  Given what we know about the crew's opinion of Stede at that point, if Izzy can be beaten by Stede, why would they have any respect for Izzy?  And then he shows up on the Revenge and Blackbeard "takes" the ship, but it's not like any other ship they've encountered.  

They don't know how to be invaded, they don't know how to be prisoners, and Edward is totally enthralled with everybody and everything, including being ass over teakettle for Stede Bonnet.  There is no fear of Edward or of Blackbeard--only respect, and only for Edward.  Izzy gets dragged along, yes, but he's such a fish out of water.  He has no idea how to actually handle people; even Ivan and Fang ultimately agree to mutiny against him.  Lucius blackmails him--and let's marvel at that for a moment.  *Lucius* blackmails Izzy.  And not only does he blackmail Izzy in a beautifully benign way--"It'd be a shame if your nickname got out, Dizzy Izzy"--but he also shows Izzy that he is out of his depths.  Izzy tries to blackmail in return, with Lucius' sexual history, and Lucius basically defangs him.  He proves that Izzy really doesn't know how to manage people outside of fear, and that sets him back.  

Then, we have the heartbreaking moment of Izzy and Fang and Ivan in "The Art of Fuckery."  not just the opening monologue, but the moment of, "I guess we're not killing this guy" and Izzy's determination of, "The plan is very much alive. He promised me."  That's not the voice of a man who is happy, but of a man who is expecting disappointment.  He knows he's going to have to be the one to kill Stede Bonnet, and he's going to have to be the bad guy, again, and push Edward into something Edward doesn't want to do.  Izzy doesn't care that it'd break Edward's heart, or possibly break Edward himself, he just wants Stede and these other idiots gone and be back with the real Blackbeard.

But there's also like, maybe 1% of Izzy that is... well, not rancid.  He has actual feelings; Con O'Neill is utterly brilliant at using his face to show what Izzy is feeling, even when his mouth is saying something different.  He's chastising himself when he lets Stede get away with one of the hostages; he's petulant when he whines "Can't I just send the boys, Ed?" and Edward insists that Izzy do it to make a good impression on the "Gentleman Pirate."  Somewhere under all the bullshit that Izzy has constructed for himself, there's a person.  

And that person has some kind of love for Edward.  It's not healthy, for either of them, it's not even spoken of, hell, maybe it doesn't even have a name outside of "weird" or "toxic."  But he's capable of it, and the fact that nobody sees that is what makes me love Izzy the way I do.  Nobody sees beyond this shell that Izzy built for himself--which is exactly the thing that's happening with Edward.  Nobody sees beyond the shell that Edward has built for himself--except when he meets Stede.  

Izzy doesn't have a Stede; in fact, if there were someone willing, I don't know that Izzy would even accept it.  But I also think, of course he would if that someone was Edward.  

My hope is that eventually, Stede and Edward break through with each other, and then Edward can look at Izzy and say, "Shit, man, I've been wrong to look at you like this.  You're my friend, mate, and you need help."

The second Kate passed you the cheerleading outfit, your mind fell into a blissful daze. Briefly, your hands grazed against each other. 

Your pink, increasingly red cheeks didn’t go unnoticed to Kate. Her soft smile made yours only grow, until there is a cough from Simon across the room, smirking at the two of you. 

“Eat shit,” Kate growls, promptly showing her middle finger to him as you stand there, amused. “Sorry, Y/N. Feel free to change in the bathroom, let me know if you need any help and I'll come find you.” 

She smiles, before walking away to Simon. 

You stand there for a moment, watching her, before rushing away to the female bathroom as directed. You laid your backpack on the closed toilet seat, before stripping down your clothes and easily sliding into the blue costume. It hugged your body in a way you hoped Kate’s eyes would stay on you. 

After shoving your previously worn clothes into your backpack, you walked out of the stall and stared in the mirror. The zip at the back wasn’t closed, your pink bra underneath revealed to the other girls scattered around the bathroom. Girls who were too busy smoking, vaping or purely gossiping to notice you were asking for help. 

You sigh, throw your coat on over the outfit, before walking towards the gym once again. This time, all eyes on you. All mouths motioning your name. 

“Kate?” You call out quietly. 

Suddenly, the dark-haired girl jumped out from behind the bleachers, Simon following behind her. She gives you a smile and rushes towards you. 

“You look great!” She beams, “Have you zipped up?” 

“No, I...” Your face went pink, “None of the girls in the bathroom would help me so I just came back here - is that okay? I’m sorry.” 

“Don’t apologise, Y/N.” 

“Okay...” 

You drop your bag and coat onto the ground, before facing the opposite way from Kate. Your eyes are shut. One of her hands rest on your hip, pulling the outfit down and she uses the other hand to push up the zip. 

Once ready, she spins you around and places her hands on your shoulders, your faces just inches apart. 

Kate senses your anxiety, and lowers her arms, “Everything will be okay. Are you nervous about starting cheerleading? It’s really not overly complex.” 

“No, I’m nervous about you..do you think people will judge me?” You end up saying, before covering your embarrassed face. Standing close to you, was Kate. The girl you’ve adored admired for months on end, and you were expressing your concerns about getting bullied. 

Unexpectedly, Kate didn’t laugh. Instead, she wrapped her arms around your waist and rested her chin on your shoulder. “Nobody will judge me when I'm with you. if they do, I’ll murder them.” 

You laugh, “You would murder them for me?” 

“Of course. I would do anything for one of my cheerleaders - we’re like a family now,” Kate pulls away enough for your faces to meet, her hands are still resting on your waist as she smiles at you, “And for the record, I doubt anyone would talk bad about you wearing that. Seriously, you’re making me question myself right now - you look beautiful, Y/N.” 

The bell rang, and you internally thanked it. You and Kate parted ways after sharing one last hug, you couldn't find the words to say anything else. Looking down, you could see your hands were shaking nervously. You take a deep breath - maybe two - before walking in the direction of your next class. 

Everyone was wrong. Kate was seen as heartless, but you knew that was far from the truth. At your audition, when you accidentally tripped over, Kate helped you remain focused and you finished without a second mistake. She helped you with your outfit, made you smile and complimented you so much your knees literally went weak. 

Sitting in geometry, you could see Kate a few rows away. Apparently you shared more classes then you originally thought. Between you sat Deena, who was too preoccupied scribbling notes and sketches back and forth with Sam to notice anything else occurring during the class. 

They came out as a couple the previous year. You almost cried when it happened - because someone was like you. And if Kate stayed friends with them before and after, she had to support that, right? 

Possibly even be apart of that community, you thought to yourself. 

“Y/N,” Kate whispered from her desk, she passed Deena a note, which Deena gave to you with a smirk. 

Your face heats up as you open the note, reading ‘bleachers. 7 - Kate <3′ 

The butterflies in your stomach grow when you look up and see her blowing you a kiss. From the back of your mind you wondered if she was simply being a tease - that she somehow found out about your secret crush and enjoyed pushing you around. Except, her sincere smile made you remember this was Kate, she isn’t a bad person. She’s beautiful and smells like sweet lemons. 

So, you gave her a nod, wordlessly agreeing you would be there.

You sat on the bench while the cheerleaders danced. Considering it was only your first day - you decided against participating in the big game. Primarily because you were scared of humiliation, but also because you wanted everything to go perfectly for Kate. 

The game is still in progress, twenty minutes remain and you’re sitting under the bleaches as directed, a warm hot chocolate resting in your palms. 

it’s 7:06 and zero sign of Kate. 

Embarrassment infused you when you saw another couple making themselves comfortable metres away, practically dry-humping each other as you sat and drank your warm drink. You decided to wait a few more minutes before you left, when it reaches 7:15 you promised yourself to walk away. 

And by the time 7:15 reached, you were walking out of the bleaches with tears filling up your eyes - she led you on because she had the advantage. 

“Y/N?” A voice, one defiently belonging to Kate called out. 

You looked around and saw her, “What?” 

As a disguise, she wore an oversized jumper, a cap and baggy pants. You barely noticed it was her - but by looking at her pretty smile, it was obvious. 

“I’m sorry I was late, coach was upset,” She walked closer towards you, and sat down on the ground, patting the spot beside her, “And I was getting changed into these clothes...I didn’t want anyone to see me.” 

“Why?” You ask, “Are you...embarrassed of me? Are you embarrassed to be friends with me?” 

Kate tilts her head and frowns, “You know that’s not it. I’m not embarrassed of you, Y/N. I’m...embarrassed of myself. Everybody knows people only come down here to be with the person they like.” 

You stay quiet. 

She continues, “And I like you...I barely know you, but I've seen you. In class, you're always so observant and smart. And when you got nervous talking to me I realised that maybe you're like me - so I made my move. And I showed up late, which I'm sorry for, but I just...I like you a lot.” 

“Do you really?” You smile softly, “Because I like you - a lot - but I don’t want to say anything in case this is some sick prank.” 

Instead of responding, Kate holds the back of your head with her hand and pushes your lips together. It’s soft, unlike the last few guys you've kissed, Kate’s lips weren't chapped or picked at. They're smooth and taste like cherry lip gloss, which she undoubtably uses. 

Kate pulls away, “I'm not interested in girls.” 

You frown, “Then why are you kissing me? Didn't you just confess?” 

Kate smiles, and tucks a loose strand of her behind her ear, “I did, and I like you. I’m not...interested in labelling myself. I’m giving you a warning, I’m not ready for this - for us - to be public. So, if you’re not interested in being a secret for however long...tell me now.” 

Despite how often you've dreamt about walking down the hallway with Kate’s hand holding your own - you remember what it’s like to be afraid of judgement. So, you press one last kiss to her cheek, “I would love to be your secret.” 

“You would?” 

“Yes.”
