❛  there’s a big difference between mostly dead and all dead.  ❜
the Princess Bride starters . accepting
They faked it well - but the two girls sitting together at the police station were more used to these surroundings than they cared to admit. Of course, pretending to look intimidated and scared of the bright lights, the non-stop calling noise and the dangerous individuals temporarily under custody earned sympathy. With Melissa and Marie side by side, one wouldn’t believe him to be anything but victims.
Or so they hoped.
The last stint they had pulled during a fraternity party hadn’t ended too well - while the younger girl was almost a professional at slipping away with the money the boys never saw being removed from their wallets, one of Marie’s targets hadn’t been as drunk as she supposed; the guy was willing the blonde girl get away with it as long as he had some reward - the type that would involve dragging her back to an empty room and getting her petite frame onto a bed.
No one had to imagine that was he wanted - the guy had been yelling these words by the time Melissa arrived at the house and saw him trying to grab Marie’s wrist. Luckily, his alcohol-fueled stupor prevented the older girl from being spotted, the brunette hitting him over the head with an empty bottle picked from the yard as she ran towards her sister. However, the sound of the glass shattering and blood dripping to the ground immediately drew more attention than they wanted.
Well - desperate times called for desperate measures; but unfortunately the party had disturbed enough neighbors to have them call the police, and by the time the siblings had managed to break free of the last problem to run home, they were caught red-handed by the police (quite literally in Melissa’s case; some of her own blood was mixed there, caused by the way the bottle splintered).
Now sitting at the precinct with her own hand bandaged and accompanying Marie, an officer came around with a clipboard in hand and looking rather skeptically at them. He scratched his head and then said:
“Are you two the girls related to that fraternity boy with a nasty concussion?” the policeman questioned, almost as if he doubted that they could have caused such a massive chaos to a bigger, bulkier man. Melissa breathed with relief then - good; it meant their pity act was working as usual. The brunette nodded, and the officer whistled lowly.
“Well, you ladies did a number on him alright - he looked mostly dead when the ER took him in, but looks like he’ll make it,” he reported, and then Marie looked up at the officer with a rather indignant look, clutching her bigger sister’s hand in a demonstration of solidarity.
“There’s a big difference between mostly dead and all dead,” she said defiantly, and then Marie’s eyes went wide almost as if she had realized how bold her claims were; the girl’s demeanor changed immediately, and she lowered her gaze more demurely, facing the floor instead. “I’m sorry, sir. He wanted to... To do bad things to me, my sister, she... She only...”
Soft sniffling noises followed, and the officer seemed to despair at the sight - he apologized and offered Marie some tissues, not missing the way Melissa looked at him; almost as if the older woman was blaming the law enforcement individual for the pain caused to her sister instead of the drunk, reckless fraternity boy who thought himself above the law. Murmuring something about grabbing a hot chocolate for Marie, the officer went away - and as the blonde girl sneezed delicately, Melissa patted her on the back softly.
Marie grinned at her sister from under her curls, and the brunette chuckled softly.
“Works like a charm, doesn’t it,” Melissa mused, and then became serious all over again when the figure of the same police officer emerged from the end of the hallway, “Do your worst, honey. Perhaps we can get a free meal out of them too.”

Uncle Peter | Peter Parker x Stark!Reader
Hey! I'm officially back with the imagines! Okay, so this was a crazy idea that came up yesterday and I thought it would be a great idea! I hope you watched No Way Home to read this oneshot... I won't give more details or I'll spoil everything hahaha
Hope you like it!
Any requests, any oneshot suggestions? Just send an ask or comment on any of my posts!
Maybe it was a very confusing imagine, but I hope you can understand the plot of this story...
------
Prompt: When your niece finally asks who is your boyfriend... (you’re the youngest Stark, just to make it right!)
Tumblr media
“When will we be able to meet your boyfriend, Aunt?”
"Morgan!"
You already expected this subject to come up at one time or another. Morgan had always been very curious about her boyfriends, and after Tony died, you completely understood her need for a father figure. Of course she had Happy, but it wasn't the same, even if they considered him part of the family.
"No, no, Pep, it's okay..." you whispered, smiling. With a glance, he pushed the plate away from the table and looked in the direction of his niece. “But you already know, dear. It’s Uncle Peter, remember?”
Morgan frowned. "Really? Are you dating Peter?”
“Really,” you smiled again.
"Alright, question answered, now it's time to go..." Pepper quickly gathered up the dishes and helped Morgan pull out a chair. You both got up, and the girl ran in excitement so she could watch TV, while you and Pepper were doing the dishes. She turned to you. "Look, sorry about her, but you know... a kid, and having an aunt, after all this time..."
You just nodded, washing the dishes. Until recently, you hadn't felt ready to show up in Tony's life again, especially since the inexplicable death of Maria and Howard had scarred you so deeply, and seeing her brother who'd followed their father's career all day wasn't going to help much in that sense. your psychological. For that reason, for years, you kept away from the bond that made you a Stark.
But now, with his death, and with the weight of having a family formed, you feel obligated to take care of Morgan and Pepper for him, if only to make up for the years you've been estranged from each other. You knew, somehow, that Tony would be happy about it.
It wasn't bad being part of the Stark family now. Morgan was adorable and Pepper was one of the best sisters-in-law you ever had.
“Late again,” you suddenly huffed, glancing at your wristwatch. Pepper looked at you confused. "I made an agreement with Peter that he would pick me up at eight, it's a quarter past eight and he's still not here."
Your sister-in-law gave a suggestive smile. “Peter is always late anyway…”
Ignoring the teasing, you continued washing the dishes until the moment the doorbell rang. Running like a madwoman, you opened the door, facing Peter getting ready on the other side. He smiled at you and walked into the house, looking around to see if Pepper or Morgan were there.
“Hi, you're late, you know?”, you commented, laughing. He frowned.
"I am really sorry. I had to finish a paper for MIT.”
“You are forgiven,” you replied. “Want to get something to eat before we go?”
"Uncle Peter!"
Morgan interrupted the two of you by dropping into Peter's lap, who returned a warm hug. With a smile, she clung to him as she looked at you, as if sizing up your every behavior.
"Morgan, me and Peter need to go..."
“Fine, but can’t he play a round of UNO with me?”
"Oh dear, I..."
“Hey, you two! You’re taking too long!”
A voice came out the door and a face you knew jumped around before speaking the next sentence. Peter 2 was standing with his hands on his hips, waiting for you and Peter. Morgan looked confusedly at the door, then alternated between you and Peter, who were both unresponsive, tense.
"Uncle Peter?" Morgan asked, still looking at the door.
"Hi Morgan...", Peter 2 smiled, looking straight at you. "Come on, (Y\N), he's been waiting for you!"
"He who?" Morgan asked again.
"What do you mean with “him who?”?" the older Spider-Man looked confused now. “Her boyfriend, of course.”
You felt like hiding your face in the couch cushions, clinging to Peter and thinking about how you would get out of this tight skirt. It was hard enough for most people to understand that there were three Peters Parkers and that you were dating one of them, but not the one from your universe. Now, it was even more difficult because it was a child.
Even if that child was a Stark.
“We need to go!” Peter told you, taking your hand and pulling. “Come on, (Y\N), what has gotten into you?”
"If your boyfriend isn't Uncle Peter, then who is he?"
“Morgan, we'll talk later, honey!” you pulled Peter with you as Peter 2 balanced his car keys. You left the house and entered the vehicle, dying of shame. “Damn, how am I going to tell her? She thought it was you!”
"Did you tell her it was me?" Peter asked, confused.
"No! I said it was Uncle Peter, but I didn't say which one!” you explained. "She knows the three of you, she knows exactly who you are, but I don't know... maybe she didn't think straight..."
"It was my fault..." Peter 2 whispered. "I shouldn't have entered the house."
“Of course not, Peter!” you took his hand. “I'll find a way to explain it to her later. You know, soon everything will be fine, soon people will get used to three Peters..."
Your Peter smiled as he watched the road. The three of you arrived at the lab they'd managed to rent together to hide out there. Rushing in and laughing at your own confusion, you only calmed down when you saw the face of your Peter, Peter 3, working on something crazy and explosive you couldn't make out.
Going up behind him, you covered his eyes, chuckling softly. He turned around, just as you took your hands from his eyes to face him too. With a passionate kiss, Peter 3 realized you were tense.
“What's up, honey?” he whispered, still close to her lips.
"Oh... it's Morgan... she found out about the three Peters..."
He smiled, scratching the back of his neck. "Our! Poor thing! She must have been very confused... And you intend to tell her that your boyfriend is Peter from another universe?”
"She kind of already knows..." you replied, sighing. “But never mind now, enough of the Peters fuss for today. Now I just want you to kiss me, Pete..."
He nodded and pressed his lips to yours again, in a more intense kiss.
"Let's go, kid... we'd better leave the two of you alone before the thing here is R-rated!", Peter 2 said to Peter, louder than you'd expected, making you laugh mid-kiss.
Since moving in with Morgan and Pepper, that was probably the day you laughed the most in your entire life.
