Chapter One of Dad!Buck sequel is out!!! I'll be updating it weekly, as long as I don't get distracted with any other wips lol. Please enjoy a snippet below.

Aidan spots Eddie the minute he’s at the top of the stairs and pelts towards him, yelling “Papa Papa Papa!!” at the top of his lungs. Eddie looks up at the commotion and his face splits into a wide grin. “Aidan Aidan Aidan!” he replies, holding out his arms for the boy and letting out a small “oof” as Aidan crashes into his chest. “What are you doing here?” “Aidan wanted to come see you after his appointment,” Buck explained, settling on the couch next to Eddie and giving him a quick kiss. “Has owie, Papa,” Aidan pouts, pointing to his arm. “Hurts.” “Oh no!” Eddie cries, sending Buck a wink, “How will we ever make it better?” Buck snorts as Aidan struggles to roll up his sleeve to expose the band-aid, Eddie swooping in to help. “Kiss it better, Papa” Aidan instructs, holding out his arm and pointing at the band-aid. “You want me to kiss it better?” Eddie asks, pointing at himself. “Not Daddy?” Aidan shakes his head vehemently. “Nuh uh, not Daddy.” “Ouch.” Buck’s not at all upset by this, it was established long ago that Eddie’s kisses have some magical healing properties that Buck’s don’t which has saved Buck from needing to kiss better a whole host of nasty injuries (the worst was when Aidan stubbed his toe and had insisted it wasn’t going to stop hurting until Eddie kissed it better). “Okay okay, I’ll kiss it better” Eddie relents, and he plants a delicate kiss over the band-aid, Aidan looking awfully pleased as he does so. “Fixed?” “Uh huh!”. Aidan snuggles into Eddie, tucking his feet up into Eddie’s lap and resting his head on his shoulder. Eddie circles his arms around the boy’s small frame and rocks him back and forth, nuzzling his nose into Aidan’s curls.

Bobby looks at the rings and notices they’re exactly the same and after he does, he smiles at Buck and Eddie because their rings represent everything about them.

He hands Eddie Buck’s ring and says, “Repeat after me”.

“I Edmundo M. Diaz, humbly give you, Evan M. Buckley, my hand and my heart as a sanctuary of warmth and peace and pledge my faith and love to you. Just as this circle is without end, my love for you is eternal. Just as this ring is made of an incorruptible substance and it will never fail, my commitment to you will never fail either. With this ring, I thee wed and according to the state of California I make this my solemn and legal vow to you.”

Bobby asks, “Edmundo, do you take Evan to be your lawfully wedded husband?”

“I do.” Eddie replies and he slides it onto Buck’s ring finger on his left hand and after he does, Buck lifts his hand, looks at it and everyone chuckles at his antics.

Bobby laughs then he hands Buck Eddie’s ring and says, “Repeat after me”.

Their Firsts, At Last - 118K Words; Currently 8 completed works: A multi-part fanfic series about the romantic “firsts” Buck and Eddie share as they journey through life in an established relationship and their lives as a couple will include some of Buck’s individual “firsts” too. It’s filled with the FANON love, romance, fluff and domesticity their relationship should have been allowed to experience in CANON. The second part of the series title was adapted from the song “At Last” by Etta James.

This series of FANON future speculation fanfics is being written on a continuous timeline that begins with the start of season 7 (if it were to start in September 2023). Each part ends at a specific point in Buck and Eddie’s relationship so the next part can begin with the ending of the previous part. Therefore, parts 1-6 should be read prior to reading part 7 and the series will continue in that manner until it’s complete.

Did you know that you can read any fanfic on AO3 without the need for it to have another separate work that is translated into your language?

If you are familiar with my blog, you should know that I make masterlists of fanfics from different fandoms and I read at least more than 80 works per month on AO3, but perhaps you don't know that English is not actually the language I use in my daily life and absolutely all the works I read are in English, so...How do I do it?

Well....

When a fanfic has a translation approved by the original author, I read that, but most don't so I use the following method:

When you open a new story, it appears like this:

To translate the story you need to go to those three points at the top:

Then, you must go to the part that says "traducir..." (if your cell phone is in English, this will look like "translate...")

And that's it, the chapter translates by itself!

You have to do this every chapter and the translation is not 100% correct (especially in text fics because a lot of abbreviations are used), but this is easy to distinguish if you understand even the most basic of the language and can simply put it back into the original language and look up the word that you don't think has a good translation.

You may already know this and consider this post obvious, but if you didn't, I feel that this is something useful for everyone and that it helps the original authors of the stories receive the credit they deserve and that their works do not end up being stolen for translations!

WIP Snippet

Here's a small snippet from the WIP I literally just started lmao ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Buck hadn’t planned to get a cat. He hadn’t even planned to stop by the shelter on the way home, really, but he’d had a difficult shift and there was just something about the comfort he found in small, furry bodies that made him change his route home. He definitely hadn’t planned on falling so head over heels in love with their newest addition.

“Anyone new in?” he’d asked Macey, one of the shelter volunteers, as he’d pushed open the door.

“Actually, yes! There’s a new 2 year old male out back, want to see him?”

Of course Buck had wanted to see him; he made a point to get to know any new animals that came by. It’s not that he was actively looking for a pet, it was more that he knew how these little guys felt. How it felt to be abandoned by family, by those who were supposed to love and care for you.

Buck had followed Macey out back, asking her lots of questions about the new member. Macey told him that the cat had been surrendered to them the previous week after his owners adopted a kitten and he didn’t get along well with it. Buck’s heart broke for the small creature.

He hadn’t meant to get attached, but the second he saw the small creature curled up in the corner of the crate, he knew he was in trouble. The cat was a tuxedo, his body mostly black except for his chest, belly and paws, and, adorably, around his nose. His eyes were wide and vibrant green, with a small fleck of brown in the corner of his right eye. His ears were perked up, keenly taking in all the noises around him and when Buck had come towards him, he sprung up and pattered towards the bars. Buck had noticed as he crouched down by the crate, that the cat’s tail was oddly small.

“What happened to him?” he’d asked, glancing up at Macey as he stretched out his hand, poking his fingers through the bars of the crate.

“He was surrendered by his family; they’d gotten a new kitten, and he didn’t get along with her so they gave him up”.

Buck had sent the cat a sympathetic look and scratched his chin, heart swelling as the cat rubbed himself happily against his fingers.

“And what about his tail?”

Macey had shrugged. “The previous owners didn’t know either, they got him like that. It looks like it might have been surgically removed, there’s a little scar at the tip.”

Buck sighed, wishing the bars of the cage weren’t between him and the little guy. He seemed so starved for touch, smooshing his head into Buck’s fingers while purring extremely loudly. The cat’s tongue had rasped against his hand as he licked madly, and Buck had felt his resolve crumbling around him.

“What’s his name?” he’d asked.

And when Macey had told him, he’d known right there and then that he was going to be taking that cat home with him.

this is part one of the you are in love series that all started bc of this post. ok pls enjoy!!

It wasn’t the worst call they’ve ever been on. In fact, the minute they got out of the truck, Buck and Eddie had turned their heads to each other, giving the other a knowing nod that this one wasn’t even going to make it onto the Buck-And-Eddie Top 5 Worst Calls Ever list. There was no fire, no gas spills, and according to Captain Mehta, whose team had gotten to the scene just 4 minutes and 23 seconds earlier, no fatalities or life threatening injuries. But that didn’t mean it wasn’t messy. It was an 12 car pile up on the 405, right by where the exit ramp is to get to Eddie’s house from Carla’s and - Buck freezes up, the color draining from his face as he scans all the cars in front of him, his eyes scanning for a blue Nissan Pathfinder. “Buck.” Eddie said gently, recognizing the look of panic on his partner's face. “It’s 1 in the morning. He sent us a goodnight text in the group chat like - four hours ago, remember?” Buck reaches into the pocket of his turnout pants, remembering back to a few hours ago when they were in between races of a very heated game of Mario Kart in the loft. Both their phones pinged at the same time at 9pm on the dot, and they had both laughed and shook their heads as they read the sweet Goodnight, Dad! Goodnight, Buck! text that was followed by a firetruck emoji and a red heart. “Seriously?” Eddie had asked, knowing that Christopher was going to be staying up playing video games for at least another hour and a half, if not more. Buck, who was already two steps ahead of Eddie, had already hit the menu button on the switch controller and scrolled over to the “friends” app. “I can literally see him online right now. He’s playing Super Mario Broth- wait a minute, we were working on that level together!!” The betrayal was prominent on Buck’s face, causing Eddie to laugh. Traitor. Buck had sent back to Christopher in the group chat, followed by a picture of the TV screen showing he was online playing. If Buck had anything, it was receipts.

As soon as Buck opens the door, at the sound of his husband’s and son’s voices, he tilts his head to the side because he can hear them and it sounds like they’re having a heated discussion about something. Even though they’re not yelling, it’s the tone in the words being spoken that causes him to pause and listen.

“I’m not going to sign the permission slip yet because I’m still debating if we should let you go to San Francisco.”

He sighs, then replies, “But dad… Buck already signed it and we talked about it during the summer, so I don’t understand”.

“You’re right we did but… that was months ago and I’m not sure if you going that far away from home is a good idea.”

Buck’s sure they haven’t realized he’s at home yet, so he quietly sits his bag in their laundry/mudroom, then he closes the door, walks through the hallway that leads to the kitchen and that’s where he sees his husband in his uniform standing on one side of their round wooden kitchen table and Chris sitting on the other side with a frustrated look on his face.

He wasn’t expecting to walk in and find them in a heated discussion and since Eddie mentioned the permission slip, he’s positive they’re talking about the trip to San Francisco that’s scheduled for early next month.

“Dad?!” Chris shakes his head in disbelief then continues. “Did something happen to make you change your mind?”

“No. I’ve just been thinking about whether it’s a good idea for you to go on an overnight school trip that lasts for two nights.”

“Huh? Dad? I mean we’ve talked about this and I need to go. I’m one of the captains on the team and if I don’t go then…” He trails off because he’s getting upset and he doesn’t want to be disrespectful.

Buck’s standing there moving his head from side to side like a ping pong ball as he watches his husband and son go back and forth in their discussion. After hearing the exasperation and frustration in Chris’ voice, he figures now’s the time to intervene before one of his boys says something they’ll regret.

He walks over and stands on the side of the table and says, “Good evening family. What did I miss?”

What did Buck miss? 🙃

Also, why is Eddie reconsidering their joint decision to let Chris go on a school field trip to San Francisco? 👀
