5⭐️s Finished!!!!!! . Story-time: I bought this book back in November. Because it is a trilogy of more than 1300 pages, I decided to read it in December. December came and I had finals so I could not read it. And then I didn't read it in January as well. Not reading this in December was when my reading slump sank in. I stopped reading, stopped using #bookstagram as well. I did read a few books but they were small, less than 200 pages contemporary novels. I cannot count the number of books I have picked up and put down since December 2021. I cannot count the number of books I promised I would read but never was able to. But finally I don't know one day, probably a week ago, I picked up this book and started it. Really loved it from the beginning but I remained cautious because I liked Kafka on the shore in the beginning but the ending confused me a lot. Now I loved this book from the beginning till the end. This is not a book I would recommend you to read as a starter to Murakami. Try reading some other of his works, probably his short stories and then pick this up. Rick Riordan, The Hidden Oracle😊 . . . . . **********************Review😛********************** Percy Jackson and The Olympians was the first ever English series I read and I loved it a lottt (Big PJO fan here😊) I loved the Heroes of Olympus series as well (It had Percy duhh😁). When I saw this book I didn't think I would like it because it had the word "Apollo" instead of "Percy".🤔 But since it was Uncle Rick's book, I had to buy it. And guess what?? I FREAKING LOVED IT!!! (Sorry, I am a drama queen abt books😅) This book continued the story about what happened to Apollo when Zeus banished him and he found his master, the demigod Meg McCaffrey (Much to his annoyance😐). Meg was awesome and total badass even at a young age😎. I am glad we got more of Nico and Will. They are sooo cute😍. This book was hilarious and I couldn't stop laughing😁. I am a BIG fan of Greek Myths so yeah..... Oh and Percy was there too!!😱 He was for very little time but he made up for that by his sarcasm like: "Some of the best demigods have gotten their start by blowing up toilets." Aaaaaaaaand😃 He faced us. “You hear that, guys? A batch of cookies is depending on me. If you get me killed on the way to camp, I am going be ticked off." Oh and who could forget Leo and Calypso??? (Sorry for talking so long I love all characters😄). They are awesome esp Leo😁. Anyways I am JUST gonna say this book was epic!!🔥🔥 . . . "Be as swift as the wind. As silent as the forest. As fierce as the fire. As unshakeable as the mountain. And you can do anything." . To be completely honest, I almost DNF-ed Flame in the Mist a quarter of the way through. But I'm SO glad I didn't! The first half of the book is very slow (or maybe I was just in a slump) but as soon as I reached the second half, I couldn't put it down! I understood later that the first half was the necessary development we needed to flesh out the rest of the story. It was so refreshing to read a story set around Japenese culture and as with the Wrath and the Dawn, Rene does settings wonderfully. There was a fair bit of action, as well as a plot that unravels around mysteries and politics and power-plays, which I greatly enjoyed. The characters were very diverse in terms of personalities and very well fleshed out and I ended up loving quite a few of them. The way that this book ended, I know that the sequel is going to be more action-packed and I am so looking forward to it! . 3.5 stars! BOOK REVIEW: The Ask and the Answer by @patricknessbooks Did I mention that the first book had a cliffhanger that had me in a grip! I loved this one the most out of the series. This was a dual POV and I loved reading and seeing Todd from Violas perspective. The character building is beautiful because you’re invested and totally care what happens to them. Also I don’t think I mentioned how well done the villain is in this series. Mayor Prentiss is a force, a leader with a loyal following. He’s logical, calculated, and smart and you can’t fault him. He gave Hitler vibes (in terms of loyalty) and I HATED HIM!! He was a master mind at manipulations and just very well written! 🤯 This whole series explores power and control very well. I loved the contrast of two teams of war (men against women) – I liked the psychological angle to it. In this book, Viola and Todd are separated and both made questionable decisions that drove me up the wall. (I don’t ship them, they just gave off BFF vibes and were a force together). 💖 Todd was such raw emotion in this one. He was such a soft little #hufflepuff but the decisions he made in this book made me want to sit him down and council him! Also his relationship with his horse. Im just a teary mess when it comes to pets in books cause just IT BROKE ME!!! Viola on the other hand was beautiful. Her character arc was 100, she was a no nonsense, get shit done and just all over brilliant!! 👏🏼👏🏼 Also we’re introduced to the native species of the planet- the spackle and how we the humans are cleansing them out to colonize on their planet (area). My heart ached for the spackle and just reminded me how we continue with such practices here – yes I’m talking about Palestine! To sum up, the second book was dark, thrilling and it broke my heart! And I guess this is the perpetual state of mind of pretty much every individual in the post-modern world. This is why Kafka remains so relevant and important. His writings show us how absurd and damaging this world has become and how important it is for us to address this. Jbtw, the pretty stone is one I picked from Bara Pani lake in Deosai. OMG, THIS BOOK you guys!!!!!! I don't think I can review it or that my review would do it justice ... #theinvisiblelifeofaddielarue was an experience. A museum filled with rich art (centred around Addie). A love letter. A ballad. A symphony. An epic love story. A tragedy!!! 😭😭😭 The prose is lyrical, and I honestly couldn't get enough of it. I'm just in awe and still blown away. Addie was eccentric, headstrong, and not at all forgettable despite her curse.
