✨ What are your plans for the weekend? . . 🫖 I had a really nice and slow Friday with some grocery shopping, taking pictures and reading. Tomorrow I’m going to bake a Pina Colada cake (or at least try) for a birthday on Sunday, so wish me luck! And of course I’m listening to Fearless (Taylor’s version) on repeat 😄🤷🏼‍♀️ . We read ‘Das Parfüm’ (The Perfume) in school and it really gave me the creeps. It’s about a man (or rather a murderer) who kills women and makes perfume out of them. Why though? . . ✨ How do you celebrate Easter? . . 🫖 This month just flew by don’t you think? In my head it’s still January and 2021 has only begun but outside it’s already spring and people are putting Easter decoration everywhere. We don’t celebrate Easter the same as Christmas but I went home for the holidays to visit my family. We’ll do a brunch on Sunday because that’s a thing we do on Easter. I don’t live that far away from my family, just an hour train ride and therefore I’m here every few weeks but now I’m staying until Monday for the whole prolonged weekend. ✨ What do you do in your free time besides reading? . . 🫖 For me it’s dancing! As I stated in an earlier post I started taking ballet lessons when I was 7 and later added modern dance. I love this feeling when you’re in a flow, nothing but the music fills your head and there are no thoughts anymore because your body takes over. . Last year I read “The Dancer” by Colum McCann. The book is about the famous dancer Nurejew but it’s not a biography, it’s written like a novel based on facts so we get a glimpse into Nurejew’s life, the political difficulties of being a dancer from the Soviet-union and the people who got to know Nurejew. . . Happy Monday! 🧚🧚‍♀️🧚‍♂️ I have never been able to get enough of fairies, and The Queen's Choice by Cayla Kluver was one that stuck with me for a long time, even though I don't think I've managed to finish the series yet 😂 It centers around the magically separated faerie and human realms. Faeries are able to cross the Bloody Road, but humans perish if they try. The book centers around Anya's journey to the human world in her mission to find Prince Zabriel, who ran away years ago, so that she won't have to take the throne as the queen requests. While in some ways the plot is slow-moving, I really love the world building and deeper look we get at characters before things take off! QOTD: What are your favourite books with fairies? Do you have a crazy, bookish story? I have a story to share for Day 3 of the #30bachallenge that @berrybookpages is hosting! I don't have any particularly crazy stories, but as someone who is a stickler for following the rules, this one makes the list! I'm lucky enough to be able to experience the Tucson Festival of Books every year, and I usually volunteer, too! One year in particular, my friend, @rikkiriojas and I were volunteering as festival guides (aka line managers). Lo and behold, one of the lines we were managing was for @ahoffmanwriter ! I'll admit, I've never been able to read as many of her books as I would like to, but I saw her sitting and waiting for the panel room to open, and my friend convinced me to go and talk to her. She is genuinely the sweetest person, and was so amazing to talk to! I was a bit nervous, as I was supposed to be taking care of the line of audience members, but she sat me down with her and asked me all about myself, and what I thought about the festival. As our short talk wrapped up, she asked if I had anything for her to sign. I didn't 😅 (rookie mistake). I did, however, have event vouchers that we handed out to keep track of audience numbers (and not for signing, or keeping, or anything like that! Big no-no in my book lol). She laughed and said it was perfect, and signed it for me. I was a bit mortified that all I had was that voucher, but it was still such a cool experience! I was in high school back then, and I've still kept it safe to this day! ✨ Hello Bookies - Have you read anything by Markus Zusak? . . 🫖 I’ve read a few books by this author but nothing made me feel like “The Book Thief”. This book was beautiful, caught my heart and left me crying and I would do it all again. It’s about a little girl in Nazi Germany during the war, who comes to a foster family. She tries to make the best of the situation with her love for books and words. When her foster family hides a Jew in their basement things are getting even more difficult. I would recommend this book to everyone! I still have to point out that it’s about Holocaust and World War II, so pay attention to trigger warnings. The story is beautifully written, its characters are very realistic and it sometimes even made me laugh.
