Happy Monday! 🧚🧚‍♀️🧚‍♂️ I have never been able to get enough of fairies, and The Queen's Choice by Cayla Kluver was one that stuck with me for a long time, even though I don't think I've managed to finish the series yet 😂 It centers around the magically separated faerie and human realms. Faeries are able to cross the Bloody Road, but humans perish if they try. The book centers around Anya's journey to the human world in her mission to find Prince Zabriel, who ran away years ago, so that she won't have to take the throne as the queen requests. While in some ways the plot is slow-moving, I really love the world building and deeper look we get at characters before things take off! QOTD: What are your favourite books with fairies? AOTD: The new love of my life is the ACOTAR series, but when I was younger, I was OBSESSED with the Faerie Path series. ✨ ✨ ✨ #pagesfromalibrary #yafantasybooks #yabooks #yaseries #yafantasy #youngadult #heirsofchrior #thequeenschoice #caylakluver #fairies #fae #faerie #fantasy #fantasyseries #fantasybooks #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #booksta #bookbooksandmorebooks #bookbookbook #bibliophilelife #readmorebooks #bookcommunity #instabookstagram #instabooklovers #book #books #bookishlove #bookaddicted #bibliophiles https://www.instagram.com/p/CF-LVaHgQwN/?igshid=j9txwri713x0

The Queen’s Choice - Anne O’Brien 👑 Star Rating: 7/10 ✨ Quick Review: Set around the wooing, marriage, and aftermath of Joanna of Navarre and King Henry IV of England, beginning in 1399. I found their relationship a little dull, and rather like a see-saw; they are never on the same level. It’s very frustrating to read, especially as all Joanna and Henry seem to do is hide things from each other, eventually reconcile, and then hide more things from each other. As I have said before when discussing this author’s books: I think it’s the actual historical characters I don’t like - not her writing. Raleigh Carrera Dating Headcanons
Tumblr media
- There wasn’t one single moment where the two of you turned to each other and fell in love. It was more gradual, lots of little things piling up on each other until neither of you could imagine life without each other at your side.
- Raleigh never bothered to actually confirm your relationship online or in an interview or anything. The two of you just let the rumors swirl, taking the time to laugh at the more ridiculous ones.
- When the two of you did step out, it was in private and to the places no one expected the hottest new celebrity couple to be. You and Raleigh raced off to Laguna Beach at three in the morning, or a vacant parking lot to check out
a food truck and eat on the curbside. You didn’t particularly care for the niceties and luxuries of Hollywood and LA, as long as you two were side by side.
- Nighttimes were the best. There wasn’t any sleeping happening by a long shot. The clock would read midnight and you would be lying with Raleigh on the floor, a cupcake you were splitting nearby, surrounded by loose music and your guitars.
- He would sing a small melody, and you’d drowsily tap his chest or the rose tattoo on his arm, one tap if you didn’t like it, two if you did. Needless to say, there were far more double taps than single ones.
- But the real world would always come knocking in the forms of agent calls and booked shows and sneaking around in the dressing rooms before the opening acts.
- The two of you had a tradition where you’d help him get ready before the concert. Raleigh would always feign surprise when you walked in through the door, though the fact you were here couldn’t be. You were around so much, any more, and the touring company would probably put you on the payroll.
- The tabloids had a field day when they first saw the two of you together. There he was, the notorious poster boy of bad decisions walking around with the newest, and rather well reputed pop star on his arm.
- Predictably, Raleigh wasn’t fazed, with no facade being put on for the cameras or any real effort to hide the impulses that had made him famous. Even at the Met Gala or the Grammies or some other stuffy charity ball, his hand would be there under the table, a small smirk on his face as it rested on your thigh, not so gently teasing you for what was about to come.
- And if the prospect of attending all those star studded events weren’t enough, there was what came after. The two of you had an entire luxury suite to yourselves, traipsing around it well into the night while he tried to catch you.
- And when he did, you knew you weren’t leaving the bed until right before your check out time. The morning after, your hair would be mussed, lips dark from heated kisses from the night before, and clothes and the errant haute couture gowns and thousand dollar Louboutins scattered around the floor from when he’d been a little rough just a few hours before.
- And you would close your eyes before shaking Raleigh awake, pressing a kiss to his lips while the scents of faint cologne and the champagne from the cleared out minibar still lingered on yours.
- And when he reached up to bring your head closer, your fingers would find the rose tattoos on his forearm, tracing them up to his neck, and then so much lower, and lower, and lower until you were right back where you started.
**BONUS
- The two of you adopted a cat.
- Raleigh named him ‘Cat’

Thank you, dear @the-food-hole, I hope you're doing okay 🥺✨
I'll put here some positive points about me that I got from my last feedback at work and it made me proud of myself 😁
Being open-minded surely helps me get to know people and understand humankind better, since we're not all equal
I can leave my ego out when at work and making decisions and it gets easier to work in teams
Even under incredible stress, I was able to put people at ease and stay positive
Knowing how to separate work from personal life makes everything better
I know myself very well. I know when I'm stressed, what I want and how to cope. It's important to know yourself and when it's time to take a step back. Your mental health matters the most 😌

On Top of the World - Raleigh x MC
Tumblr media
Raleigh x MC (Ridley Greene)
Since we’re not getting a Platinum Book 2, I’m writing the world tour we’re never getting
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Thunder. Screams. Bright lights and applause and tears.
Especially the last part. They flowed down Ridley’s cheeks freely without any shame.
She lifted the mic to her lips for the last time, taking one final look at the bright lights and thousands of stars that she knew were really the falling ashes of fireworks and confetti. So this was it.
“This has been the Ridley Greene world tour,” she choked out as the screams began to die away in her mind, replaced by the pounding of her own heartbeat. “Thank you, thank you.”
So this was it. First album and now her first world tour, checked off neatly on a bucket list. God, it had been exhilarating.
She remembered nearly throwing up before the first concert, clutching her stomach in nerves while Hank looked on nervously backstage in San Francisco. It had gotten easier over time. It was more relaxed in Houston. Uplifting in New York City. Exhilarating in London, Paris, and Berlin.
Ridley’s mind whirled as she took it all in. The show in Tokyo had been phenomenal, belting out even the strongest notes flawlessly while adorned in Zadie’s red crystals. Rio de Janeiro had been one gigantic party that never ended. Rome had a second layer of history added that night. Paris had been unforgettably sweet.
Wherever the tour buses had rolled into town, tickets became the hottest commodity of the year. Everyone wanted to see the newest pop sensation, the new star praised and predicted to be a musical icon within the year. Grammy nominations. The VMAs. Viral performance videos. But they were just a sidepiece to the real thing.
“When I first came onto the stage, I had no idea what to do,” Ridley said, gazing out at the crowd and their outstretched hands. “But in the past year - a year with you - I found it.”
Without thinking, she walked over to the edge of the stage, legs wobbling from hours of dancing and sat at the edge of the stage, feet dangling over as she took in the sights again.
“It wasn’t me that made this tour great,” Ridley continued, pausing when her throat closed up unexpectedly. “It was you. Every face I saw, every hand I shook, and every voice I heard made this tour great. So don’t thank me. Thank yourself.”
The stadium shook with screams as a second round of confetti and fireworks blazed off into the midnight sky. She’d have to thank Fiona for that.
As soon as the cacophony slowed down, Ridley raised the mic to her lips again, but didn’t get far. Even more hysterical screaming broke out, all hands and eyes suddenly trained behind her.
And there she saw him. Silhouetted against a triumphant backdrop of a world tour was another of the music industry’s greats. Raleigh Carrera, windswept hair and all, the rose tattoo on his forearm still winking at her while the roguish smile pulled off its classic trick.
“Sorry to crash the party,” he announced, holding his arms aloft. “I just couldn’t help but hear that Ridley Greene was in town tonight. Hey, Los Angeles. Hope you don’t mind.”
The two stars walked towards each other, circling like the other was a mirage. Around them, the lights swiveled in a blurring whirlwind, flashing and illuminating and dancing without end.
“I don’t know if y’all know this,” Raleigh said, stepping ever so closer. “But this is one amazing woman.”
The crowd raised hell in response, half cheering, half laughing and filming.
“I got too close to her. She got the feel of me, and I just can’t let go.”
He was close enough now to look into her eyes, placing a gentle finger under her chin to meet her eyes. Both mics dropped to their sides as he pressed the tenderest of kisses onto Ridley’s lips.
God, she’d missed this. The long nights on the road and in the air left little time for romance. But now, cradled in his arms on one of the biggest nights of her life, there was nowhere else Ridley would rather be. His scent wafted over her, a sweet blend of faint smoke and L.A. roses. His warmth warded away the autumn chill, let in by the stadium roof opening to shine the light of the moon and stars down on them, illuminating them like no other thing could.
“I’ve waited for such a long time, Ridley Greene,” Raleigh rasped, eyes still closed as he nosed at her lips. “I never thought I’d go down this path. But looks like I am, and it’s a good thing I’m doing it with you.”
The warmth of his breath left her, and Ridley opened her eyes in surprise. It was so unlike him to draw away. Then she saw it.
Raleigh sank down to one knee, a small black box emerging from his back pocket. No, it couldn’t be. It couldn’t.
“Ridley Greene,” he breathed. The tender words were for her and her alone, never to be heard by any other woman. “I have loved you before I even knew you. Let me be with you. Let me be with you when you reach glory on a stage. Let me be with you when you’re exhausted at dawn in the recording studio. Let me be with you when we watch the sunset over the palm trees.”
The box opened, revealing it’s precious treasure - a dazzling yellow diamond flashing fire and radiance in the night. Among the thousands, no, millions, of lights in the stadium, this shone the brightest.
“Will you marry me?”

DOS - Raleigh Carrera x MC

Raleigh Carrera x MC (Ridley)
***This is Part II of the UNO Series
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
He had a habit of doing that.
Ridley opened her eyes, not to the bright beams of Hollywood Hills sunlight filtering in through the blinds, but to her face being pressed against Raleigh’s chest as he held her tight. Not that it wasn’t a welcoming sight.
After a couple rounds of going at it, Raleigh would peel away from her, complaining about how hot he was and rolling to the other side of the bed. But in the middle of the night, she would be started half awake as his hands found her in his sleep, unknowingly crushing her to his chest in an effort to keep her close.
Married life had its perks.
“You know we have to get to the studio early,” Ridley mumbled, pawing in vain at his chest. “Fiona wants us to prep.”
“Well I want us to stay here a little longer,” Raleigh argued back. “And something tells me you’re going to agree with me.”
“And what tells you that?”
“This.”
He flipped her over, pressing a line of kisses down her neck and to her stomach. Ridley gasped as he slowed down, taking his sweet time on her breasts as her own hands gripped at this hair.
“But seriously, we need to get going.”
Raleigh groaned, falling back onto the pillows before finally easing himself out of bed.
“The price of fame. I can’t even spend five minutes with my beautiful wife.”
“You know, you haven’t called me by my name for the past week now,” Ridley mused as she tried to rearrange her tousled hair back into place. It didn’t work. “Why?”
“I mean, you are my wife now,” Raleigh shrugged as he slipped into a shirt thrown across the divan last night. “Besides, I like the way it sounds. I’ll say it all day, my wife.”
He turned out to be serious. Even here, sitting on the couch in front of the most watched television host in Hollywood, his hand was resting on her knee, as he continued to say that word.
“So, Raleigh, you certainly caused some waves in Hollywood this week,” Leland St. James crowed as he leaned forward in anticipation. The audience followed his lead. “Just a few days ago, you were being hit with an allegation of cheating from a model. Then, out comes the photo of the two of you with a ring involved! Care to explain?”
Ridley smirked, recounting the entire debacle in her head. Oh, it had been glorious. Some wannabe model she’d forgotten the name of (Ariana? Adrianna?) had tried to stir up the pot, hitting social media with claims that she’d hooked up with Raleigh. What a coincidence, seeing as that particular day she’d singled out was also the same day Ridley had been walked with him on the Puerto Rican beaches after a little courthouse wedding and a pavilion reception. Oh, the irony.
“It never happened,” Raleigh smirked. “Ridley and I were a little busy the night this other woman said I was with her.”
“And doing what?” Leland asked eagerly, pushing his coffee mug aside like a cat that had reached peak anticipation.
“Getting married,” Ridley said, laying her left hand on Raleigh’s arm where the ring was clearly visible. In that moment, Leland St. James was Leland no more. He was more like one of those rubber chicken toys whose eyes bulged out when the toy was pulled - the same ones Ridley had won as a child at Nashville festivals.
“I . . . uh-” Leland stuttered, gesturing wildly behind him to move the cameraman closer. “Well that’s proof if I ever saw it.”
The audience gasped, and a woman nearly fell out of the front row from craning her head too far. The iconic Raleigh smirk came out again, and with a small squeeze of Ridley’s arm, he’d pulled her off the couch and guiding her down the dais.
“I think that clears up everything!” Raleigh announced to the crowd before doubling back to take a sip out of Leland’s own coffee mug. “Thank you and have a good night!”
The two of them exited the stage as Leland’s protests and the audience’s laughter faded behind them. Stage hands swarmed them, but Raleigh beat them off, making a beeline for his dressing room. Once there, the two of them collapsed onto the divan, him on top as usual as he nipped at her collarbone.
“Raleigh, as good as that feels,” Ridley gasped as she carded her fingers through his hair. “You might want to hold off on that for a while.”
He blinked, obviously confused. She would have been confused with herself too, turning down an opportunity like this. At least there was a reason.
“Do you . . . do you remember the time we did it last month?”
“We’ve literally been going at it whenever we can.”
“Okay fair,” Ridley admitted. “But my point is, I remember that particular time. Because I think that’s when it happened.”
More confused blinking.
“When what happened?”
Ridley took a deep breath, hearkening back to the moment where she’d seen it. Those two little lines. They’d be engraved in her memory forever, and now, it was going to be out in the open.
“I’m pregnant.”

UNO - Raleigh Carrera x MC
Tumblr media
Raleigh Carrera x MC (Ridley)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“And Raleigh Carrera seems to have gotten himself into another cheating scandal,” an overenthusiastic TV host crowed from behind his rather impressive desk. “This definitely has Twitter alight! The rogue star’s been linked to Ridley Greene over two years now. Who knows what’s going on now.”
Ridley groaned, throwing herself back against the pillows in a futile attempt to drown him out. Finding it useless, she pawed at the blankets in search of the remote before a warm hand pulled it away.
“Nothing’s going on anyways,” Raleigh scoffed. “People these days.”
“And for all the latest details on the cheating scandal, let’s turn to the lady of the hour herself!”
The television screen switched to a pouty lipped woman, Adrianna Ambrose, dressed in a skin tight dress with last season’s Yves Saint Laurent purse balanced precariously in sharp nails. She was pretty, Ridley admitted, if a Kylie Jenner aesthetic with a touch more botox was her type.
Hadn’t she signed up for this? Raleigh had been the most unattainable bachelor for years now, always seen with one night stands and short flings that refused to amount to much. This was bound to happen one day. Better now than never.
“Here’s the tea,” she crowed in a too nasal voice. “I was over there in Cancún, and Raleigh Carrera was there too. I’m fine as hell. He’s fine as hell. So you know, we got talking, he got flirty, and boom. There’s that. I’m just going to say it got a little loud upstairs that night.”
Ridley snorted, suddenly unable to surpress the laughter. Beside her, Raleigh did the same, heaving his own amusement into the pillows before the two of them came up for air again.
“I’m glad that’s not true.”
“It could never be,” Raleigh mumbled before pressing a kiss to the top of her head. “I mean, I think we were both a little occupied that night.”
The incessant noise from the television died away, beginning to be replaced by more pleasant things. There was a variety to choose from. Harmonizing in the studio with her favorite backup singers, the pops of champagne with the crew after an exhausting leg of a tour, the sounds of tiny bells intermingled with the waves of a Puerto Rican beach. She chose the last one.
God, it had been such a beautiful time. There had been the soft white lace swishing just above Ridley’s knees as Raleigh hitched it up, bending her backwards in a delicate kiss in front of their most intimate of peers. There was the taste of sea salt and tiniest blush of vanilla wedding cake on his lips as the two of them embraced, the soft sinking of the sand in San Juan.
Thank god she had that memory. For as long as that was lasted, there was no way these allegations could be true. The same night that Adrianna had claimed to be shacking up with Raleigh in some resort, she had been marrying him in his hometown grounds.
The two had walked into the courthouse and beach pavilion as man and woman, and walked out as husband and wife.
“I think we can let the speculation happen a little,” Raleigh shrugged. “I need a little time with just you anyways.”
“God, it’s like having one of those reverse Uno cards,” Ridley said, gesturing aimlessly at Adrianna’s reappearing face on the television screen. “All we have to do is send out a tweet, and boom.”
Raleigh paused, then stretched over to pluck her phone from the bedside table and press it into her hands.
“Do it.”
Ridley blinked in surprise, taking the phone but letting it drop onto the mink throw Raleigh had gotten her just last year.
“What? I thought you didn’t want to announce it yet.”
“Well, now that you bring up that idea, I just can’t resist,” Raleigh sighed dramatically, deftly putting in her own password for her. “Where’s the ring.”
Ridley twisted towards the bedside drawer, pulling out one of Zadie’s silk swatches that had been carefully swiped the just last week. It unfurled in her hand, and an almost comically large aquamarine set in platinum tumbled out. It was a beautiful stone, emerald cut, glittering in absolute perfection, and Ridley’s heart jumped into her throat as she slid it on again. She’d missed it, having taken it off just a few hours ago to attend a gala. Just a week had passed since she’d first been presented with it, yet it already felt like an extension of her.
“Say cheese!” she laughed, aiming the camera at her and Raleigh, her hand fluttering onto his cheek. The ring flashed ostentatiously, and she smiled as she saw the brilliant glint, still so fiery even in the confines of one tiny photo.
“Perfect, let’s get it done,” Raleigh said, quickly typing up a caption and pressing post.
“Uno?” Ridley asked, arching an eyebrow. “What makes you say that.”
“It’s a trump card. God, I can’t wait to see everyone’s faces.”
He pulled the phone from her grasp, setting it back down on the bedside table and enveloping her in his arms. Ridley gasped as he pressed a line of kisses down her throat, going ever so lower each time. She knew better than know to now these kisses weren’t chaste.
“But enough talk. I want some time with my wife now.”

Hit Play - Raleigh Carrera x MC
Tumblr media
Raleigh Carrera x MC (Ridley)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The studio was so much quieter at night.
Gone was the band next door experimenting with a whole array of electric guitars for hours. Gone was the new bubblegum pop star plucked off of a Youtube channel. Gone was Ridley’s energy that had seeped out of her body and into a mass of scribbled pages on the floor.
Wrinkling her nose, she kicked aside a can of ElectraLite on her way to the soundboard. Just another reminder that she’d basically lived in the studio for the past week, recording at breakneck speed at a pace even Ellis Knight had never seen.
Breakups seemed to do that to people.
It wasn’t Fiona’s idea of a fake breakup, though she would have taken it over anything now. No, this one was the real deal. She and Raleigh Carrera were officially over. Done. Nada.
And now here she was, rewriting an entire album from scratch on the studio floor in the early dawn, hours after her phone had fallen silent from people wishing her well.
“Cinnamon . . . cinnamon, how did it taste?” Ridley whispered, tapping her finger on the paneled floor, trying to get the beat in her head. The memory got in it instead.
“Here, taste,” Raleigh said, popping something round into her mouth when she wasn’t looking. “Feel that?”
Ridley spit out the candy into the nearest trash can, nearly choking as she tried to get it away.
“Oh god, you know I hate that. The red hot cinnamons. Raleigh Carrera, you are a cruel man.”
“That’s what you’re like,” Raleigh said, shrugging as he unwrapped another one, aiming up the candy to shoot at her. “All bright candy red and fiery. Really pops off in the mouth.”
Ridley eyed the candy, picking it up gingerly and holding the tiny red bullet up against the light.
“Alright then.”
Half an hour later, and the first rough track of Cinnamon slid onto the tracklist. She didn’t notice. The pen was already flying again, etching down more memories into something people could listen to, something people could feel.
“You should fire Zadie,” Raleigh mused as he dipped a finger into the dregs of wine in his glass. “Look. Isn’t this so much better?”
He swiped a few drops of St. Julien Bordeaux onto her lips, and Ridley smiled, letting the warming liquid brighten up her lips before licking them off.
There were no words after that. There was no need for any. Just each other’s warmth in the cool breezes of a Calabasas beach was more than enough as the couple lay back in the sand, illuminated by the moon reflecting off two empty wineglasses.
As smoothly as ever, Lipsticks in Calabasas popped up on the recording screen, settling into its little niche on the tracklist.
Ridley’s phone suddenly went off, trilling a tiny song in the early hours of 3 am. That had been her cutoff hadn’t it? She’d promised herself she’d drag herself into the bed she’d spent too much time in the past couple of days and force herself to sleep.
“Do these help you sleep?”
Raleigh’s motorcycle sputtered to a stop in front of a field of red poppies, gently swaying in the breeze before the winter came to kill them off.
“You’ve had trouble?”
“Sometimes,” Raleigh admitted. “The early days were the worst. Right when I left Sunset Skatepark, I used to be awake all night worrying. Didn’t have anyone with me for that.”
Ridley closed her eyes, pushing her face into the back of his neck as she whispered a promise, yet another one in a line of so many.
“But you have me now.”
And he had. Until neither of them did.
The last sweet notes rang out in the air as Ridley hit the last word, letting the sound echo around the empty walls for a few minutes. And so, Smoking Poppies lit up the screen with its own presence on the album.
The studio lights closed as footsteps echoed, the door slamming behind them.
Perhaps it was done for the night.
Perhaps it was done forever.

Cat - Raleigh x MC
Tumblr media
Raleigh x MC (Ridley)
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
By now, Ridley knew what to expect when she walked in the front door.
Three options went round and round like the Wheel of Fortune. The first choice was the sound of a strumming guitar from the basement recording studio she and Raleigh had personalized. The second choice was the faint rustle of blankets as someone turned in early. The third was the welcome sounds of the kitchen as Raleigh tried to cook without setting off the fire alarms again.
She never expected total silence. Then, a single meow pierced the air.
“Raleigh?”
Almost as if on cue, a plump orange cat strolled out from the hallway and plopped itself on the middle of the floor. It meowed again.
“Raleigh what is this?” Ridley called out, setting her bag down tentatively. The cat didn’t move as she walked towards it, only letting out an even louder meow.
“What is what?” came his voice from somewhere on the second floor. “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
“Yes you do!” Ridley yelled back, now close enough to pet the rather fat cat. It blinked slowly, lifting one heavy paw, then flipped over to expose an expansive belly.
“Why is there a cat in the house?”
There was silence save for another meow from that annoyingly fat cat. Up close, it was rather cute, Ridley admitted. At least it was ridiculously relaxed, not even stirring as Raleigh made his way down the stairs. From the sound of it, he was dragging his feet.
“Oh yeah, that,” Raleigh said with a touch of surprise, almost as if he hadn’t noticed a cat in the house. “I got us a cat today.”
“Wait why?” she asked, reeling, but still unable to tear her hands away from the soft fur. “We never talked about this.”
“Don’t you remember? It’s our five hundred and forty fourth day anniversary.”
“You’re making that up.”
“Yeah, I am,” he admitted, strolling forward to scoop up the cat. It lolled in his arms like a fat baby, albeit with more fur.
“I just couldn’t resist it. I mean look at this boy.”
He held the cat up, and Ridley got a good look into its dumb eyes devoid of any critical thinking skills.
“That’s . . . that’s a cute cat,” she said slowly, poking it on the nose. The cat didn’t even react, just staring at her then letting its tongue slip out if his mouth.
“What’s his name?”
“Cat,” Raleigh answered with utmost confidence. “His name is Cat.”
Ridley stared at him for a good moment. How could one of the greatest musical and lyrical geniuses of this generation, the one that sold out stadiums and wooed millions with his words come up with a name like Cat?
“It’s a dumb name for a dumb cat,” he defended himself, picking up on her aire. “Can you see any type of intelligence in this boy at all?”
Ridley couldn’t.
“Besides, he’s the cutest guy ever. Hold him for a bit, will you?”
And with that, he dropped twenty pounds of pure cat into Ridley’s arms. The fat animal meowed in complaint, then started chewing on a lock of her hair.
“Okay, okay,” she laughed, unable to keep it in as she pulled her hair away from the cat’s mouth. “Let’s keep it.”
Raleigh began to smile widely before she cut him off with a finger to the lip.
“But first, let’s find a better name than Cat.”
