Hey book friends! Can anyone chime in on which one of these would be better for me to keep longevity wise? Or if it doesn’t matter? I’ve been a kindle girlie for years and all my hardbacks are bound *ahem* properly so I’ve never had to navigate potential issues.
The one on the left the hardcover sits out because the binding is crooked (the binding is shit on all of them), the one on the right the pages are actually touching the ground and you can see it’s concaving if that makes sense from the top?
I just want them to look nice and first world problems, I know, but like…which is less likely to get worse? 🫠 I’m thinking about keeping the one on the right because it sits better but I’m worried about how the pages are…sinking? For lack of a better word. Thanks in advance!

Fandom Problem #4100:
I know there's discourse over marketing books with AO3-like trope tags and whether it's bad for dumbing down the market or good for helping people find more books they'd like, and while I understand both sides my main complain is people who advertise a book as containing a certain trope that it then doesn't deliver on. Don't call it "enemies to lovers" if they're only "enemies" for about 5 minutes. It SAYS "soulmates" but there's only like one throwaway line three-quarters of the way through the book that only kinda halfway implies they could be fated lovers that's then never followed up on.
Sure it's already a bit of a problem when it happens with fanfics, but the thing is, if I'm dissatisfied with a fanfic, the only thing I've wasted is my time, but if I bought a book, now it's time AND money wasted.

If white people described their skin in books the way they describe people of color's skin:
Her skin was soft and smooth, the color like that of a marshmallow, lightly toasted over the fire.
Their skin was muted white, like an exotic, ripe banana after it's been peeled.
His skin was pale, like the outter skin of an onion.
Her skin was like sugar, pale and sweet to the taste.
His skin was exactly like the inside of a tropical coconut, cracked open for the whole world to see.
Their skin was the same shade as sugar, traded and brought from far overseas.
Her skin was that of a dragon fruit, freckle seeds covering the surface of her face.

I have been trying to get my hands on a copy of The Glass Scientists book since its release day and I still haven't found one in a physical bookstore. It's fantastic that it sold out so fast, but sad for me. :(
I may have to resort to drastic measures: Amazon.

Books should NOT have the same covers by different publishers. I bought the sequel to a book I already own in the bookstore and the covers matched so it seemed fine. NO.
One is published by Little Brown. The other by Penguin Books.
And you know what's (not) funny?
This same thing happened before with a different series. BY THE SAME AUTHOR WITH THE SAME PUBLISHERS

I just don't understand how people who hate most or all the main characters of a series choose to continue reading and posting about that series?
Make it make sense.
If you don't like something, find something you do like. Isn't it kinda miserable to constantly fixate on something you hate? Isn't that a lot of negativity that you are intentionally choosing to continuously propagate in your life?

Could start getting through my enormous stack of unread books BUT why would I do that when I have just realised I can literally look up the financial statements of the university I was at 3 years ago and read the 120 page report on their accounting policies instead????????

Was unpacking my favorite book series to put up on a shelf, and had put them all in the same box obviously so they'd be together. Only to realize as I was setting them up... that I am missing
A
SINGLE
BOOK
Do I know the last time I read it? No. I know it's been years. I have vague memories of taking it off my shelf and putting it in a bag to read on what I think was a plane ride or vacation. I know every time I re-read the series, I kept going, 'huh I wonder where Proven Guilty is? Oh well, I'll find it eventually, I'll just skip this time.'
HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN GONE, IT'S BOTHERING ME, I LITERALLY PACKED MY ENTIRE ROOM, I'D HAVE FOUND IT IF IT WAS IN THERE, MY POOR COLLECTION

POV: You let your friend convince you to finally read ACOTAR mostly because you were tired of not understanding all the memes and now you're almost at the end of the second book, the obsession is sinking in, and you even got back on tumblr. To have more memes.
Now I want a bat boy. Where's my Rhys. Take me to Velaris.

My aesthetic is to start a goodreads reading challenge, complete it in real life but never update it in the app, and start all over the following year.
