i think there needs to be more of ava & lilith getting to have a fucked up sibling relationship in which they demonstrate the saying that hate and love are opposite sides of the same coin. lilith being the “no one else gets to hurt my sibling except for me.” ava being a cruel reminder to lilith of how she’s strived so long and hard, following all the arduous rules, for acceptance, and family, purpose and belonging. and yet ava suddenly comes in and gets all of that and more dropped into her lap, and she doesn’t even want it.

most recent chapter of my fic now has it so both of Gadget's parents were briefly described, so I thought I would post this quick sketch I did a bit ago of his family (pictured a bit over half a decade ago.) More info below the cut.

From left to right:

Gina the Wolf, currently 55, pictured at 49. She was raised in an environment that emphasized academics, and she is a tenured professor at New Mobotropolis University. Has a PhD in mechanical engineering and mostly teaches at the doctoral level. Notorious for being a bit too lax when it comes to dangerous or controversial research projects.

Gizmo the Wolf, currently 16, pictured at 10. Artistically inclined, outgoing and never hesitates to bother his brother. Still finishing high school and plans to study art at a local university.

Gadget the Wolf, currently 20, pictured at 14. Hero of the war. Originally a quiet kid who had just moved far away from home to go to college to study computer science when the war suddenly hit. Most people know the rest of the story.

Gears the (Maned) Wolf, currently 52, pictured at 46. Car mechanic by trade, grew up in a rough neighborhood. Now owns her own repair place. Is half Maned Wolf (making both her kids a quarter). Her and Gina met when Gina brought her car with a flat tire to the shop Gears worked at during that point in her life. Gina's parents didn't approve of them being together due to several reasons. They have been married for 22 years.

marlene was born in harborne, england, to parents who never married despite their common addiction and two children together. their mother got clean before marlene was born, but their father never did and his company became scarce, the family only seeing him every few months. eventually, when marlene was just five, her mom packed up and moved them to cotswold once she realized he was only coming around and giving the girls false hope of having a relationship with no intentions of ever sticking around.

her mother started working at a little family owned bakery in cotswold, and the family was incredibly welcoming, to the point of taking the responsibility of rent off of her hands and letting her and her two daughters move into the apartment above the bakery.

it's in that little apartment that eight year old marlene shows signs of magic for the first time, making her toys move with her mind just by thinking of how silly it would be if her toy horse started marching around. to her absolute delight, it did. she kept it to herself, though, and wasn't nearly as shocked when she got her invitation to odalric school of witchcraft and wizardry. at school, she meets lily, james, remus, and her entire life changes. sadly, with each year she comes back enthused and gushing about her friends and new knowledge, her mother and sister seem closer than ever before.. and they never seem too happy to hear about her stories.

holidays with her friends become more and more frequent, and by the time she's leaving for her first year at aurelius, she's cut off contact from her mother and sister and living on her own. at aurelius, she studies magical artifacts, sparked by the unique cloak of invisibility her friend james possesses and the howlers she witnesses her older friends molly and her brothers receive from their overbearing yet sweet mother. it's there that she meets cillian burke, and over time, convinces herself that her harmless little crush means nothing when he's a married man. one thing leads to another, and that harmless little crush.. somehow isn't as harmless anymore, with shared looks across classrooms and constantly running into one another at parties. he tells her it's a loveless marriage, a contract he's expected to fulfill, that everyone does it. so she gives in.

neither of them expect marlene to become pregnant ( neither of them expect marlene to be in love ). when she breaks the news, cillian breaks her heart – he has no plans of leaving his wife, and she's left to lean on her friends for comfort with her heartbreak and new motherhood. cillian ignores marlene's existence completely from then on out, but when willow is born, he's there to offer financial assistance. he knows marlene doesn't have much, and with a child to care for, he offers her money for her silence. she gets money from him for years as she raises willow, and while she never shielded her child from the truth of her wrongdoings, she also never disclosed the identity of their father.

now, marlene works as a professor at aurelius on the board of specialisation for magical artifacts. she's a sweet, well-loved teacher, and gives a few too many chances to students making up their coursework if they ever fall behind. she loves what she does, and even teaches a student she remembers as a young boy stumbling around with his father. she wonders if willow and weston will ever find out the truth for themselves, because it'll never be her spilling the beans.

HEADCANONS ABOUT THE BAD KIDS

Kristen has Asthma. No doctors can figure out where it came from, because it's not genetic, but she remembers a dark forest, a temple, and a horn spearing through her lungs, and she just knows. She asks Cassandra to fix it, and Cassandra tells her that it cannot be done. She keeps an inhaler on her at all times, and when she breathes too deeply, she can still feel the horn piercing her.

Fig, through a combination of tiefling blood and her own decisions, sounds like somebody who's been smoking all their life. When she was younger, it just sounded like a raspy throat, but now that she's older, it's that sultry, sort-of attractive rasp. Ayda says that she sounds sick, and it takes a few minutes of explaining before Ayda understands. Fig always teases Ayda with her most sultry, raspy voice, and laughs when Ayda's hair poofs upwards.

Adaine tried pancakes for the first time when Kristen made them and now they're her favourite breakfast food. Her favourite toppings are whipped cream, fruit, and syrup. She doesn't say that every time she eats them, they trigger sensations of eating at a cold table with cruel people. She doesn't say that she sees a time where she will eat pancakes alone, and cry with the wish to eat them with Kristen again. She does not say a great many things.

Gorgug, through no fault of his parents, in almost unhealthily skinny. It's incredibly hard to find books on Orcish physiology, and Thelma and Digby tried their best to keep up, but it wasn't meeting the required amount of calories. Now that they know (Gorgug's bio dad gave them a book), they feed him much more, but he's always hungry. He feels bad for it, and sometimes even flat out refuses the food, feeling like it's a waste.

Fabian has dissociative episodes where he falls back into the fear that nobody remembers him. He sometimes can't even remember himself. He pretends to be fine, and then you're calling his name loud enough for the Hangvan to hear it outside and he doesn't respond. He sometimes slips into old habits of not being able to move from his bed, and when he does, all the Bad Kids visit him until he can get out. They never rush him, and sometimes it turns into a slumber party.

Riz has night terrors. When he does sleep, which is rare in and of itself, he wakes up. When it's a good night, without screaming. He'll wake up in a cold sweat, unable to move for minutes or hours, but he won't scream. When it's a bad night, he will wake up screaming loud enough to reach the lowest floor of Strongtower luxury apartments, and he won't know where he is. He has hurt his mom, and his friends, and when he comes out of the haze of pure fear with sobbing noises that sound like his heart is being ripped from his chest.

Headcanons I thought up of König being a step daddy to reader's kid

A/N: Y'all got my very first König headcanon list to 600+ notes earlier today and I had to pump this one out. I had been in a writing rut for a while (still kind of am? But I'm finding my way back) and this is my way of showing my gratitude. StepDad!König originally was something I did for me (König being step daddy to my kid? YES PLEASE) but I made this gender neutral (& gn kid) like the other ones 🖤

👑 His reaction was the better outcome you had thought up when König found out you had a kid from a previous relationship. Why would that deter him from continuing to date you? He was a man that didn’t view single parents as “spoiled goods”, and would quite frankly curb stomp someone if they heard them refer to you as such.

👑 He was aware of the possibility of you postponing and rescheduling dates, and unfortunately they did happen. “Sitter canceled? No problem.” “Mom/Dad bailed on their weekend? I get it.” You were so relieved by his patience and empathy for the times plans would fall through.

👑 It was clear to König that you were going to hold off on introducing him to your child. He had great respect for that rule, it meant you were very keen on not having a revolving door of people coming in and out of that kid’s life.

👑 As time went on, he would always show an active interest in your child by asking how they are doing in school? Did they still like [insert movie/TV show here]? He hoped they liked the treats he had bought at the PX on base.

👑 But the one time you seemed extremely defeated and bummed out about another postponed date, he took his chance and threw out the idea of hanging out - the three of you - at your house. You hesitated, but it had been nearly long enough for you to be okay with it. The guilt weighed on you considering it had been a hot minute since the two of you had any time for each other. König was such a sweetheart, reassuring you that this is how he wanted to spend his time, with you and your kiddo.

👑 Almost every date after that became an outing with the three of you. He was referred to as Onkel König by your child, a title that warmed his gigantic heart.

👑 Came to every sports game/martial arts competition/band or orchestra event/etc. Became as active as the bio mom/dad (if they were still around) in their extra-curricular activities. He didn’t want to miss a single thing.

👑 Speaking of bio mom/dad/ex-spouse, he made the conscious effort to be acquainted with them if they were still present in Kiddo’s life. As long as they were cordial, so was König.

👑 Spoiled the hell out of Kiddo for Christmas and birthdays. They wanted for nothing and sometimes you hated it but were also thankful that he has come to love a child that originally wasn’t his.

👑 We all know König is of older age given his rank of Colonel. It’s so funny when he has to ask you about lingo the younger kids use. “What is bussies and why do they want to go there so much?” That was fun explaining it to König as his face grew intensely pink at his ignorance. It’s best if he comes to you every time he hears something new fly out of that kid’s mouth.

👑 He always used German terms of endearment for the both of you, and Kiddo picked up German the more time they spent with König. It forced you to learn too (you were already learning but you were putting in extra hours after bedtime to stay ahead of them).

👑 100% a prankster. And oh god… did it get out of hand quickly. You had to sit both of them down to scold them about putting soy sauce in your coffee when you weren’t looking; that was the final straw. No one messes with the morning coffee. 

👑 Came home with a puppy from the animal shelter because Kiddo got an A on their test (failed to mention to König that it was a test they had already got rewarded for).

👑 The only time you ever saw this man cry was at Kiddo’s graduation. They said to their friends “Can you take a picture of me with my Dad? He showed up in uniform for this.” He held it together for the event, but let the tear loose on the way home.

-so when exam season comes up and you start to get kind of distant because you’re so stressed, this mf is the most attentive, doting man ever

-“i’m just so stressed. my bio exam is in three days and my english lit exam is in 5 and i have to do so many chores and pick up this stupid cake for my mom—”

-he definitely brings you your favorite snacks, water, and meals to the library when you stay late

-“i’m not staying, i know you need to focus. but i also know you haven’t eaten today and i can’t have that.”

-when you do want company, he is hands down the best study partner

-he will deadass read the chapters you have memorize just to make sure he can quiz you

-helps you make color coded flash cards

-“it means… fuck i can never fucking remember this one.” you’re chewing on your pen cap racking your brain for the definition of a chapter concept you know you know. you can feel the slight hysteria building as matt sits patiently, gentle eyes pleading with you to go easy on yourself. “i’m never gonna fucking pass.”

-matt puts down the flash cards, careful not to mess up the order. he comes around to the side of his bed that you’re on, squatting down between your open legs. he’s rubbing his thumb in circles on your thighs with one hand as he removes your head from your hands with his other. “you are the smartest and most capable person i know. you have been working your ass off for this. you need to give yourself some more credit, sweetheart. cause i have no doubt you can do it.” he swipes at the frustrated tears pooling in your eyes and gives you the most honey sweet smile you’ve ever seen.

-you tend to overwork yourself a lot so he insists on breaks every couple hours

-you almost always protest in favor of getting as much work done as possible but he always wins the argument

-“baby, i can’t take another break. i’m so behind. i haven’t even done half of what i wanted to!”

-“last break we took was four hours ago y/n. you’re going to drive yourself crazy if you don’t give yourself some time to relax.”

-he takes you to get food or even just a short drive listening to the playlist you guys made together, talking and laughing about anything other than school

-sometimes you sit in the living room w all the triplets and watch them argue about something hilarious

-he’s always right and it always works

-when you finally finish reviewing all the material you needed to, you flop down on his bed with a heavy sigh

-“i’m so fucking happy i finished on time.”

-“i knew you would. you’re gonna fucking ace it tomorrow.”

-“yeah i hope. i had the best study partner in the world.”

-you spend the night before your exams in his extremely soft bed and his extremely serene arms, him kissing away the nerves that threaten to choke you. every so often he’ll whisper sweet nothings of how good you’re gonna do, how proud of you he is and how smart you are, making your heart swell.

-the day of your exams you wake up to the sweetest note with a smoothie made (he didn’t go to bed until like 7am that morning anyway)

-“you’ve got this, baby! you’re gonna fucking kill it. take your time and trust yourself. i love you -m”

-you feel on top of the world knowing the most amazing man you’ve ever met believes in you so much

-after your exams are done, you wait until you’re back at his house to view your scores online

-“you ready?” matt says, looking at you with nothing but love and light.

-“no, but fuck it. lets get this over with.”

-you of course get the best scores imaginable

-you celebrate like you won the fucking lottery, jumping in his arms and shrieking in hysterical delight

-he is just as, maybe even more excited

-“that’s my fucking girl! i knew you could do it.”

What I love the most about Danny being the bio son of Wonder Woman and Batman headcanon is how Danny was actually able to replace his biological parents with his ghost parents. I mean, he already has a cool Amazon warrior queen who will coo on him as a mom, and a creepy old man without consistent age who makes it his business to know everything about everyone and has clear communication problems as his Father.
