“Don't lie to summarize
The truth in place of life
Create a world to find
Your love, your love, your love, your love
I want to be above
And beyond the blue to
The river but the lights
Are bright, are bright, are bright, are bright
I meant for something new
To make anything true
Is part of what I do
Never coming back to you
What is it that I said
To bleed and make a pact
Together is apart from then
Then on I'll tell you when
Below the salt means less
Than something else I said
Below the salt means less
Than something else I said
Below the salt means less”

Below the Salt (instrumental with club chatter)
Unwound, Live Leaves, 2001
I removed the singing and kept the club chatter. I like it that way.

you sir looks like someone who doesn't hate Valentine's Day! Can you teach me how to not hate Valentine's Day cuz of how I was raised? I brought you a gift as payment :D
*GIVES U THESE*

*SHINY*
"Well! You sure know how to catch someone's eye!"
< Your coworker takes a closer look at them, and finds that they appear to be made of plastic. >
"But, it's the day of love! How can I be asked to accept such precious gems? I mean, I know my advice is priceless, but I'm feelin' generous today. You keep them."
< He seems to be almost forcefully closing your hands back around them, as if insisting you to keep them. >
"Now then, advice on how to love the day of love? You don't gotta! I mean, I've had plenty of experience in the romance field, and who says it's gotta be confined to one day? Besides, aren't there like, niche holidays for girlfriends and boyfriends and partners aside from valentines? You can always celebrate an anniversary! Just between you and me, anniversaries are more romantic than some cold day in February."
< Your coworker subtly shivers at the thought of the cold. He seems to not like the idea. >
"But! This is not to drag Valentine's through the mud! It's still a lovely holiday that is to love if you've got the care to! Plenty of relationships are made on this day and strengthened as well. Even if you don't like it, your partner or partners might! Take 'em out somewhere nice. It don't gotta be special. I'm sure somewhere like a Michelin Star restaurant is fine. If not a litte drab..."
< Your coworker mutters the last part to himself. >

Cardinal signs are Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn. They’re cardinal because, they correspond to the 4 cardinal directions(North south east west). The role of cardinal signs is to push forward, be first, to initiate
Fixed signs are Scorpio, Taurus, Leo, and Aquarius. They’re called the “Cherubim” = Matthew Mark Luke John. These signs are fixed because, they’re in the middle of each quadrant of the zodiac(the height of each season). They’re steady and stable. They fix things in place, and are able to engage in sustained activity over a long period.
Mutable signs are Gemini, Virgo, Pisces, and Sagittarius. They are called mutable because they are the “chameleons” of each element, able to shift into many forms, and take on different personas. For example Virgin Mary(Virgo) is also Isis, Semaramis of Babylon, Diana of ancient Greece; Pollux and Castor(Gemini) is also Romulus and Remus, Cain n Abel, etc. Mutable is change.
Each sign of the zodiac is also associated with a specific Cell Salt that corresponds to it. For example Aries is potassium phosphate, Taurus is Sodium sulphate, Scorpio is calcium sulphate, etc. There are 12 basic biochemistry Cell Salts. As these are the things everything is made of, all that can be wrong with one psychologically or physically comes from a deficiency in one or more (as above so below as on the iner so on the outer). So, Adam Kadmon(macrocosmic man) is of the 12 signs/salts; moreover, us the microcosm is merely a smaller version of that.

don't call me names if you're going to bring to my attention the shitty things other drivers have done, i only mentioned daniel because he hasn't grown out of his mindset (making misogynistic comments in 2023), whereas lewis seems to have grown out of his from 2015. max's racist and ableist comments about stroll i know about and i have stated that i do not like max for the person he is, that is part of the reason why i don't like max. i respect his driver's stats, but i would not want to meet him if i ever go to an f1 race.
charles i don't like either, i know he's pretty damn removed from the political sphere and i didn't know he got endorsed by italy's right wing party (did hear about him liking anti BLM tweets prior to you bringing this to my attention), and i know he hangs out with noah schnapp, so really, that's the litmus test on where he stands. you don't see much praise from me about him if you took a minute to go through the driver's tags on my page. i definitely don't want to meet charles, and as much as i thirst over carlos, i wouldn't want to meet him either since his family has a lot of ties to the right wing.
genuine thanks for the info, i don't idolize lewis and i think the work he's doing is excellent, but do not insult me in my inbox when i mention a shit behavior that occurred in 2023 while the other drivers' shit behavior has occurred in the previous years (whether or not they seem to have learned and actively seeking out to change their behavior is a case-by-case basis. lewis, by what he is doing, seems to have changed. max and charles got a little smarter about what they say to people and what they like on twitter, though charles should probably keep any interaction with noah schnapp offline)
then again, i did block you because you cannot handle me solely calling out the driver who's probably your fave being misogynistic in the year of 2023. get fucked, nonnie, because now i don't care about daniel anymore (i used to like him, then the 2023 season happened and now i could care less. his stans can go foam at the mouth about it)
and one final reminder: i don't idolize any of the drivers. most of the drivers don't have an education in politics or activism, and i don't require them to be (though, lewis is currently the only one being an activist on the grid and that's not fair to him. he's the one driver that i can definitely say that he's the activist whereas the other ones i would struggle to name a charity they donate to). i would rather the drivers don't say anything on where they lean or they take their own time to learn and educate themselves about the world we live in. but in the case of daniel - who went on to a podcast on his own whim to laugh along and perpetuate misogynistic takes as f1 academy was just announced to be live streamed - maybe they should educate themselves a little more

Helloo, could you please do one with mermaid Thena and fisherman Gil, btw i love everything you write, you are amazing 😃🖤
Gil struggled as he toppled over the rail of the boat and got dragged down by the net he'd been trying to untangle. It was bad form to fall overboard on your own fishing vessel; he would get made fun of when he got back to land, for sure.
Gil tried to free himself from the gnarled mess of a net around his ankle. But it was already sodden, it was tangled and full of seaweed and ocean litter. It wasn't as light as he would like it to be, as he tried to stay in good distance to the surface, hold his breath, and search for his pen knife at the same time.
He hadn't gotten the chance to take in a deep breath when he'd fallen. He didn't have nearly enough air in his lungs. The water was dark, and even as he sawed at the ropes, he could feel that he was nicking himself, the salt water immediately stinging him.
His vision was failing him. He blinked, sure that he was seeing things when a cloud of white started coming toward him. Maybe something from the deeps had come up, sensing an easy meal in his struggling. He blinked.
She was beautiful.
Now he knew he was dying, or already dead. No way an angel like this was appearing here, and now. She was so pale, like a ghost (which he would soon be, Gil was sure). Her hair floated around her in thick locks of blonde--almost white. White like the shimmering scales along her neck, her clavicle, over her chest and then melding into a sparkling tail, complete with billowing white fins.
She watched him from just out of reach for a moment. She had no need to keep herself afloat, her body already accustomed to and designed for the water around them. Her tail moved idly as she examined him.
Gil let out his last puff of air, closing his eyes as bubbles filled his vision.
She was a merciful Angelfish, because she pulled him up to the surface. They hit the open air with a burst, the strength of her swimming outdoing his tenfold. Outdoing any human's, really. But Gil didn't take in a gasp of air as soon as they were up.
She patted his cheek before taking them back to his boat, first launching him back up to the deck of it before clawing and slithering and flopping her way onto it as well.
Gil grunted as she whacked his chest. It wasn't so much CPR as it was her punching him in the diaphragm. But it worked, and he spat up the water in his lungs and gasped for air. He panted, looking around the deck but finding that he was not actually in the afterlife yet.
She looked at him, still curious seeming, her tail slapping against the deck of his boat akin to how a foot might tap impatiently.
"You," Gil blinked at her--at the vision of beauty still before him. "You saved me?"
She eyed him, judging any number of things about him.
"I did."
Gil's brows rose until they couldn't go any higher. Whether it was the soft, velvety voice, or the English, or her slightly annoyed look at him. "W-Why?"
She almost looked like she wasn't sure of it herself. She crossed her arms, although her tail had to move around her to re-balance herself. She didn't exactly have a butt to sit on. Her eyes drifted to the rope net still attached to him. "I have been in that predicament before."
"O-Oh," Gil paled. Of course she had, and of course she had every right to be wary of him. He was a fisherman. Even if she wasn't friends with fish like in a certain animated movie, he was still a contributor to the detritus that was polluting her home. He didn't doubt that she'd been tangled in a rotting, abandoned net before. "Uh...sorry."
She blinked at him. Clearly she didn't expect an apology from him, not that global pollution was his fault anyway. But she uncrossed her arms, at least. "You seem different from the humans I've seen before."
She had interacted with humans before? Well, if she was bold enough to swim right up to him, relatively close to the surface and quite close to regular fishing grounds, maybe it was just in her nature. But surely someone would have said something!
Gil thought about the guys who would come back to port raving about seeing things in the water. Everything from beautiful women - sirens, they said - to massive koi with shimmering scales of wild colours. They always got denounced as having gone sea-mad, but maybe there was something to all this...
"Gil."
She tilted her head at him, this way then that. "You...have gills?--I've never read anything about that."
"No, no," he shook his head, holding out his hand to her. Her tail curled a little but he turned his palm up for her. "My name, it's Gilgamesh. But you can call me Gil."
"Gil," she said to herself. She tilted her head the other way, her - remarkably dry - hair slipping over her shoulder. "Thena."
He smiled at her, and earned quite a lovely smile in return. "That's a pretty name."
She blinked at him owlishly before returning her attention to the net around his ankle. "How did the fishermen get stuck in his own net?"
"Right," Gil sighed, dragging his foot around so he could finish sawing the thing off of him. He pulled up his sodden pant leg, examining the cut marks of where he had clumsily attempted to free himself of it underwater. "Well, I didn't realise they were tangled together, so when I cast out one, I didn't realise this one was going to drag me out with them."
Thena tilted her head this way and that as she watched him continue to try and saw at the thick bound ropes with a tiny pocket knife. She leaned forward slightly. "I can..."
Gil looked at her, curious as to what she could do and what it would entail. But he nodded, scooting forward as the more mobile of the two of them. He chuckled as Thena pulled his ankle right up to her face in her curiosity. "Don't get to see 'em often, I guess?"
She ran her fingers along the bones in his ankle with a certain fascination. "I've heard some can split their tails into legs to go on land. But I've never had a pair to examine for myself."
Gil blushed faintly as she tried to slide her hand further up his pant leg. It was fine, if a little ticklish. "Uh, Thena?"
"Sorry," she murmured, although he got the impression she didn't know what she was apologising for. She pressed her palm to his cuts. Her skin was amazingly soft and smooth, and his cuts closed themselves up before his very eyes.
Gil blinked, but the cuts were grown over and without even a scar left afterwards. He looked up at her, "can anyone do this?"
Thena released his leg back to his control and nodded, her fins moving idly almost how a human might fidget with their hands or wiggle their toes. "Most."
Gil just nodded, not pressing her about the mysteries of her ways of life. He settled on the deck again, still soaked to the bone, and freezing cold. But he couldn't pass up the once in a lifetime opportunity to hallucinate such a beautiful creature. "You've read a lot about humans?"
Thena's eyes drifted back to the waters, although she remained seated on the deck a short distance from him. "My friend and I. She comes up to the surface quite often to spy on them, although we tell her it will get her caught one day. Have you ever thought you'd seen a red snapper of inordinate size?"
Gil's eyes flashed and Thena nodded at his recognition. "It's basically a legend around here. People say there's a red snapper the size of a human child in the waters here. That's why so many fishermen have come over the last few years."
Thena sighed. "Makkari is the fastest swimmer in the seven seas, but she's a little brazen, swimming up to any ship she thinks has a funny name."
Gil couldn't help but note the irony of that, coming from the woman currently on a human ship. He looked down at that shimmering tail again, "is it safe for you to be above water like this?"
Thena flipped the end of her tail a few times. "Short amounts of time are fine. Those who can sprout legs can go entire days before needing to swim again. I have always wanted to try it."
Gil grinned. She was fearless, this Angelfish. "Well, I can't help you grow legs I guess, but, uh, if you want to know anything else about humans-"
Thena's eyes lit up and she leaned forward, pressing her palms to the deck and letting her tail stretch out behind her. "Truly?"
"Y-Yeah," Gil nodded. She was even more beautiful up close, all sparkling green eyes and glowing skin and pearly teeth...with little fangs. They were still kind of cute, though. "Anything you wanna know."
Thena leaned back as best she could, although she just wasn't made for manoeuvring herself on flat surfaces. "Could I...come see you again?"
Gil blushed. It was the first time he'd ever heard that from such a pretty girl, and it was so far from its usual meaning. He nodded, though. "Think you can find my ship again?"
Thena smiled, "yes, she's quite a lovely thing. You take much better care of her than the other fishermen out here."
Gil couldn't help the pride in him. Damn right he did! He polished and scraped her after every run!
"Would you," Thena paused, looking towards the water again. She waved her tail at him.
"O-Oh, uh, y-yeah," he stuttered, moving to his knees and holding his arms out. His hands hovered, unsure of where was safe to grab. "How should I-"
"Hey!" Thena squirmed as his hand landed on the scales at the top of her tail. He snapped the hand back, apologising. He supposed it was about where a human hip might be, maybe a little lower. Thena pulled him down by the shirt.
Gil held still, letting her clamber up to him until her arms were looped around his neck. He wrapped his arms around her, careful of any possible fins on her back. It seemed to be quite human, though--just an expanse of soft skin.
Thena nudged her forehead against his jaw, "ahem?"
Gil cleared his throat, thoroughly flustered and red to his ears. He moved them to the railing of the deck, which had just failed him, but whatever. He lifted Thena from the small of her back, helping her perch on the rail with her tail stretched out and her hands on his shoulders. He reached up, placing his hands over hers. "Will you be okay?"
Thena smiled down at him, holding onto his shoulders as the ship bobbed lightly. "I'm just going home, Gil. I'll come and find you tomorrow."
Gil nodded, a vague panic welling up inside of him. She was saying herself that she could come and find him again, and he didn't doubt her ability to find him among any of the other boats in these parts. But he blurted out, "the island!"
Thena tilted her head at him, her tail twitching.
"I, uh, live on the island just off the mainland," he continued more sheepishly. "I have a little dock where I park the boat and stuff. If you're ever...swimming around over there."
Thena, amused by his humanness, laughed. It brought out a faint pink in her skin and he could see a little more of the fangs she had. They were indeed pretty cute. "I suppose I'll keep that in mind."
"Okay," Gil nodded as Thena leaned back. She held his eyes as her hands slipped from his. He watched as she threw herself back, twisting in the air so her hands could cut the water for her and her tail could follow last.
She turned on a dime, poking her head out of the water again to look at him with a cute smile. "Tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow!" Gil waved, watching her wave back before disappearing into the completely endless waters around him. He stood for a few more minutes against the railing, thinking about his day.
He still had plenty to do. It wasn't as if he'd caught anything to take to market, and he had to examine the net and see if it was salvageable after the cuts he'd made. And he was soaking wet, and really needed a good, real shower, and to get into some clean clothes.
But all he could think about were the things he could show Thena tomorrow.

Winter Sampler, part 9/16: Snowy Night
I tried to capture the look of snow falling in the night, but if I could I would bottle up the sound of it, too-- that magical, comfortable silence.

I think 3Below would’ve worked better as a stand-alone show tbh. It’s arguably the least involved of the three in the overall plot and could probably be cut without much issue. Some of the writing issues probably also could’ve been solved by the disconnect since they might’ve had more time to polish it out and not have to worry about making it consistent with the rest of Tales imo. It’s not necessarily bad, just kinda Frankensteined on to the rest of it.
Yeah, as being apart of Tales of Arcadia, it's awkward. Like, Trollhunters and Wizards go together, both tie into fantasy and you do have it established that Merlin a famous wizard made the amulet. Incorporating aliens is a curve ball.
Personally, I would've rather seen more fantasy races, to see what their relationship with trolls are and how are they living and hiding from humanity. Like, let's see some mermaids, elves, and dwarves. We got a little bit of dragons, I've love to see more of dragons and their culture (though them cat-winged-trolls was an interesting choice). But there's a lot of things they could've done that would've fit in more naturally, and because they're sticking to the fantasy setting, maybe those villains from Wizards could've been better built up. Like, I don't know about you guys, I don't know if there was a book or a comic I didn't know about that I was supposed to read, but I got blindsided by the villains in Wizards. They just literally showed up and I don't who or what they are, what is going on, and then Wizards jumped to time travel and I still couldn't tell you why they had to time travel and it's, I was so confused.
Tumblr media
Anyway, back on topic.
It was very awkwardly included, and yeah, you could've easily cut it out and not miss out on much. There's the factor too that it brought in 2 new characters to follow in this familiar setting and it's like, man, there are other characters I like more and would rather follow more than these 2. They're not bad but there are other characters I just like more. I remember the first time we got the announcement for 3Below and Wizards and I was rooting for the idea that Trollhunters is Jim's story, 3Below would be Toby's, and Wizards would be Claire's. And all three would have a chance to be lead characters which I was excited for as I honestly like Toby and Claire more than Jim and see them have a chance to really shine.
It didn't happen though.
So yeah, 3 Below would've been better as it's own show and stand alone, I think it really hurt ToA to not only bring in aliens, but it hurt 3 Below be set in Arcadia. It's hard to get into it when there are familiar character you like a lot more than the new leads. The most fun I had in 3 Below were eps that focused more on the classmates and those were far and few. And it's not good when you want more of the background characters from Trollhunters than your new leads in 3 Below. So it should have been it's own show, maybe implied to be in the same setting but not directly tied to it, cause then it can't stand alone on it's own two feet and be it's own thing cause it has to tie into Trollhunters which got to be a chance to be it's own thing, and Wizards is going to fit naturally with Trollhunters with the establishment of wizards and humans able to use magic.
3 Below was awkwardly inserted and not given a chance to really stand on it's own.

Ok I've heard your gain domesticated humans theory. Now I have an unprompted question for your anthropology food knowledge. What is it with salt? There's a rock that we found out, if you lick it, you can taste everything else more vividly, and also it happens to be a dietary requirement so we can keep hydrating worry free? I don't have a specific question. Just whatever salt wisdom you have on hand is good
I'm so glad you asked. And sorry for the delayed response, life has been life. I didn't have much particular knowledge of salt other than that it is essential for humans to function biologically, and that it was a highly sought after and lucrative resource in pretty much every ancient civilization. It's even where the term soldier and salary come from with roman soldiers having been partially paid in salt. However, after a brief dip into the briny deep of the topic of salt production, I do have some answers. Do take them with a grain of "salt" as with all things scholarly, there are always new things yet undiscovered or understood.
So apparently, it's hard to research human societies for the presence of salt production because it does not preserve in the archaeological record (ironic). What they've done so far largely is trace salt production through clay remains from a method where they heated vessels filled with briny water. That said one of the oldest salt production sites found so far is in Moldavia in Romania and is around 8000 years old so even then a damn long time. Also, for the record a quite frankly staggering amount of archaeology is based around the study of pottery sherds. (in archaeology the cool people say sherd). Time may pass but sherds are forever. Anyway, most if not all complex societies had someway to exploit salt in large quantities, and in a study of that site more expensive goods were found the closer you got to the salt springs. So to some degree salt deposits attract people and wealth.
Fun fact, just because I wanted to be thorough, I google where apes get sodium and the answer is from meat or wood. Also, the guy to go to for ancient salt questions appears to be Olivier Weller. His name comes up a lot in these. I'm honestly tempted to email him just to ask more. He feels like a guy who would be so thrilled to talk to anyone about it.

oh my god I had the weirdest fucking dream
there were multiple storylines in which I was different people?? but they were all involved in the same situation. I wanna say the vibe was Game of Thrones-esque.
in the one I remember best I was the son of a disgraced,,,, lord?? king?? no idea. I knew my father was innocent. I wore his jacket every day to show that I supported him, much to the annoyance of the people who were tasked with protecting me. I was incriminating myself and didn't care.
my father was still on trial, and the trial was held on a massive cliff side, but the whole thing was still part of the structure everyone lived in. the person on trial was tied to the outside of a metal fence and dangled over the raging ocean beneath for hours. I would go there at night and sit on that fence to understand what my father was wrongly made to endure.
then I was a girl who was also somehow involved in the trial and against whoever was doing it. there was some kind of system of colours and every day another colour would become significant. I mixed the colours and painted my eyelids, nose, and lips with them every day which was a big bold fuck you to the people in power there. maybe I was in league with Other Me actually. not too sure.
then I think I was... myself. but younger and GoTified. this was outside of the trial but there was something going on in the background, some kind of political scheming I was a pawn in that probably had something to do with it.
anyway. any dream analysts out there who would like to take a crack at this? ❤️
