It’s not quite done, but underground farm room! Building at Y-level 50 and I’m sure eventually I’ll build even lower lol
Here’s the main area, just some crops, couple sinks, etc. I wanted the lightning rods over the crops to kinda seem like sprinkler pipes, so hopefully that comes across lol
Tumblr media
A few from the loft
Tumblr media
Little flower/foliage shelves
Tumblr media
Melons, pumpkins, and glowberries!
Tumblr media
And this was the last addition. I was going to just make it like a tiny closet under the stairs, but realized I could make it into a small, dim room for mushrooms!
Tumblr media
It only contains mushrooms. And books. There is nothing else in this room. That is all.

Minecraft hardcore tips that are not “git gud”
Aka these won’t save you from everything but it’ll prevent a lot of deaths. You do not have to be an excellent pve’er to survive in hardcore it just helps a lot
The first priority is food, followed by a bed. The more mobs you can prevent from spawning, the better. Your base is now the first place you manage to make a house in before night falls - plains are good for this but don’t go looking for one until day.
TAKE YOUR BED/A BED WITH YOU WHEN YOU LEAVE BASE FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. Skipping night usually means nothing can spawn as long as you sleep immediately.
Next is torches. You can use logs to make charcoal, and charcoal can be used to make them. Torch spam your entire area, so that you can’t see any unlit areas from your base. This will prevent spawns nearby, which gives you an almost forcefeild against mobs - if you’re a couple chunks (16x16 blocks) from the nearest mob it won’t pathfind to you. And the fewer mobs spawn, the less chance of a hoard.
Don’t set up near rivers or oceans unless you’re good with a shield. Tridents can kill you in enchanted netherite in about 6 hits.
If you are not good with a shield, that’s fine. Prioritize armour. You can find diamonds when stripmining still - they’re at bedrock level. Keep your tunnels lit. If you want netherite it’s frankly safest if you have fire resistance, but you can get by with food and a set of blast and fire prot armour. Don’t make it from diamonds unless you’re farming villager trades.
A water bucket is extremely helpful, and so is just. Placing water under yourself. Effective shield against mobs touching you. Likewise, endermen will not teleport into water - if you need time to regen health, place water or jump into a pond or lake.
Redstone and making farms for items is EXTREMELY helpful. Tutorials are pretty easy to find for just about everything you could want to farm, too. Some are more labor intensive than others.
Feel free to reblog with the things you do too :] Minecraft doesn’t have to be a git gud game.

MCYT Eras Concept
For a long time, I've thought of MCYT as divided into different eras. I've finally decided to refine the idea and write it out. I feel it's a good way to define things, rather than just "old school" and "modern", as the bar for each of those have shifted drastically over time. Please do note that a lot of how I describe these eras is mostly from my own perspective, but I do think the overall divisions work well for MCYT as a whole!
Era 1 - The "OG" Era (2009 - 2011)
The beginning of Minecraft and MCYT. Much content at this point was traditional lets plays, simple tutorials and showing off early innovations in redstone.
Era 2 - The "Classic" Era (2012 - 2014)
This era encompasses what is often considered the peak of many iconic "old school" groups and series. Team Crafted, Mindcrack, the various Yogscast Tekkit series, and many, many more.
It's difficult to describe everything that made up the classic era in a succinct manner. It was the true rise of SMPs, Adventure Maps, Minecraft Animations, Parodies, Mod Reviews, MCRP, and so, so much more. Minecraft was unavoidable on YouTube back then.
Era 3 - The "Gap" Era (2015 - 2017)
The "gap" era is named for the lull in MCYT's popularity. In this period of time, it was seen more as a niche, compared to the massive popularity it saw before and after.
This era saw the "death", or at least massive dips in popularity to many formerly wildly popular groups and ccs, as viewers interests changed and moved onto other things.
Many series came and went during this era, but weren't properly appreciated until after their time.
Era 4 - The "Revival" Era (2018 - 2019)
This era, due to a combination of many factors, was MCYT's return to mainstream. Many people returned to both singleplayer series and servers. Episodic SMPs old and new such as Hermitcraft and Truly Bedrock, began experimenting more with the lines between gameplay, story and improv.
This era also saw the rise of streaming based series, such as SMPLive, SMPEarth, and Minecraft Monday.
Era 5 - The "Lockdown" Era (2020 - 2022)
Much of this era is defined by the new heights reached during covid lockdowns. This era kicked dozens if not hundreds of the careers of those who grew up watching MCYT during the OG and Classic eras.
This era is admittedly very defined by the DSMP, rocketing MCYT and specifically MCRP into a level of popularity unseen before. Second, and as just as important to this era is MCC, bringing together so many personalities from all over the MCYT sphere who otherwise would likely have never interacted on a monthly basis.
A massive innovation in this era was also the introduction of the Simple Voice Chat mod to many servers, now a staple of most multiplayer content.
Era 6 - The Current Era (2023 - Present)
Unnamed as of yet, as it is still ongoing, the current era of MCYT has so far been defined by not only the continued rise of many smaller, younger MCYTs. But largely, and undoubtedly, by the QSMP.
Not only has it redefined what an SMP can be through its gameplay. It has brought the international MCYT community is closer together now than ever, crossing language and cultural barriers previously rarely touched.
---
This concept of mine isn't fully solidified, and is up to be more refined. I would love to hear y'all's thoughts and feedback about these divisions and the idea overall!

Empires SMP Seasons One and Two World Downloads
Hey! So since I had these on hand and since the link for the original S1 world download is now broken, I went ahead and uploaded these to archive.org. They're available in .zip format and a tutorial for adding a world file to your saves folder in Java Edition can be found here. (This does not work for Bedrock, unfortunately.)

The only way I can get myself to play minecraft in survival is not at all playing it like intended and doing something incredibly silly instead.
I hate resource gather and I die constantly and building things sucks when I can't just fly around and I have to worry about inventory space
So what have I decided to do in my latest survival save to get me to keep playing? I'm digging a huge pit.
I found a seed where you spawn on these cherry biome mountains with a big valley in the middle, just completely encased with steep mountains. And I'm digging out the whole valley to bedrock. Completely by hand, no tnt with the exception of creepers. I don't know how to make a beacon either and I can't find ant cows for leather so this is being done completely with base tools (for now, until I can find some fucking cows to start enchanting things)
Anyways that's what I've been working on literally all day. Not specifically mining out the Pit but gathering resources to make a shit load of diamond shoves and pickaxes and ladders. I might see if I can find an easy tutorial to get rid of bedrock so I can smooth out of bottom when I get there, but I'm still clearing out dirt so it'll be a While before I get there
Anyways people should send me asks as I take a break from digging a huge hole👍

hiya! I absolutely adore your art style, especially how you draw faces, and I was wondering if you have/would consider doing tutorials? I'm trying to pursue art and ive hit a bit of a wall. if you haven't done/don't want to do tutorials, are there any specific artists that you've drawn inspiration from or learned from that you can share?
Thank you so much! I've never produced any virtual tutorials--often when I tour for book events I'll do a live-drawing demonstration in addition to readings and Q&A, and I taught my first watercolor workshop last year, but I haven't put anything online in a while.
Some artists I've studied for a long time are Lois Van Baarle (@loish) and Julie Dillon (@juliedillonart). I have their work on my walls, and their art books both have great breakdowns of their processes. Another huge influence has been Claire Hummel (@shoomlah). Studying her work helped me gain confidence in my line art and lighting and, more recently, adding dimensional bulk to figures.
Two artists who were foundational for me when developing my style in the early-aughts are Heather Campbell (@makanidotdot) and Sarah Airriess (@tealin). These two are literally the bedrock I built my early skills on. Their work taught me how to draw faces, find dynamic poses, and visually communicate emotions. I still sometimes see Makani's influence in how I draw arms and ears, as well as my proclivity to end dramatic scenes with crudely-drawn comedy stings.

WATCH BLOODLINES SMP:
Tumblr media
a guide on the youtube series Bloodlines SMP, and how to watch it :]
Bloodlines SMP is a 5 chapter roleplay series by 8 smaller minecraft youtubers, featuring cameos from others. the cc's mainly made building tutorials and calming cottagecore stuff before this and their builds are absolutely aweinspiring :] you may know them from Legacy SMP (especially season 3), Truly Bedrock, or OneShot SMP!
it's a storydriven series where everyone posts 1 or 2 (depending on their own editing style) videos per chapter, each chapter takes place over 1 month. the videos are around 10-30 minutes, featuring great editing and inner monolouges, and while some of them stream, lore doesnt happen outside of eps. each month theres around 8~12 videos
Tumblr media
the story focuses on the 8 villagers who fled their home, Greyhaven, when it was destroyed by pillagers. they each had a role back in the village (farmer, fisherman, florist, ect) that helps them bring an important resource/skill to the group, and they're all trying to figure out what skills they can have to help the others in the future.
the survivors have no knowledge on magic or the supernatural parts of minecraft, this is all very new to them, and tensions rise in chapter 1 as mysterious magic and prophecies cause a split in the group
by the start of chapter 2 the characters are separating into factions or going off on their own based on their own principles and beliefs about what happened, and its very very interesting seeing everyones perspectives, especially when a character can come off completely differently from someone elses pov. we're only in chapter 2/5 (chapter 2 just ended!) and everyone is at eachothers throats already
characters include Block, a "warrior" who's trying SO hard to prove his family that forced him to be a fisherman wrong (and immediatly failing and jumpcutting to his Fishing Depression Montage), who in chapter 2 seems to be shaping up to have an INSANE villian arc (if you're a skizz or jimmy fan you'll LOVE seeing him get to go nuts), Sevaris, a gardener who is the first person to ever discover redstone and decipher it using her prophetic dreams and help from Allays, Frog, a girl who's taking the fact that everyone she ever knew died a lot more seriously than the others, and tries to figure out how to cure zombie villagers after making the Heartwrenching realization that these used to be people, and Mr. B, a lovable Prick who is incredibly against all this magic hogwash even though he seems to know the most of the lore around this place. he has NO secrets don't WORRY.
this is my recommended viewing playlist, its the order i use when showing the smp to my friends but you can start with anyones perspective :] i recommend watching all 8-12 videos in one chapter before moving on to the next as opposed to just watching from one perspective, but thats just my suggestion. right now everyone either has 2 or 3 videos, and we just finished chapter 2 out of 5 :]
there is also an official discord which you can find on their twitter, and the members are very active with fanart on tumblr and twitter. :]
i hope this guide helped, if i can convince just like 3 more people to watch bloodlines than i'll have doubles the fanbase its so goodU9VX

My art : January 2023 i got a lot of work done. :3c mainly that work was breaking out of the bedrock depression pit and that was HUGE. it did take up a lot of my time, but im seeing balance and strength returning to my routine and i love that. so while this January portfolio isnt necessarily my largest (haha october), it’s the one backed with the most sanity if that makes sense. it’s also fun to see what my color palette looks like every month. December was very very dark with some hopeful colors, but now for January i’m looking at dark neutrals with soft and saturated gold, pinks and teals. anyway, more work is coming, including chapter 3 which is currently being lined, as well as some other stuff like streaming, tutorials, etc. hope y’all survived this weirdly-long January ok. make sure to be nice to yourself, drink water and make good choices <3
