'Doctor Who comes crashing back into time and space with three new specials for the series’ 60th anniversary, with David Tennant returning as the Doctor!
A big moment for fans who have been waiting for the return of Tennant and Catherine Tate as Donna Noble, the start of the specials came with a brilliant first episode on November 25 and will continue for the next two Saturdays. Beyond a thrilling story, it’s nice to have characters we know and love back in the series. Catherine Tate and David Tennant returning as the Doctor and Donna feels like a long time coming, and they’re two characters who just really mean a lot to us. Getting to see them shine in a new kind of Russell T. Davies era is exciting.
The first in the trio of specials, “The Star Beast,” gave us a very fun setup for the stories that are to come for Tate and Tennant’s return, so let’s talk about what happened at the end of each of the 60th anniversary specials and what they mean for the future of Doctor Who, as Ncuti Gatwa gets ready to take on the role of the Doctor when Tennant’s brief return comes to an end.
Where does the ending of “The Star Beast” leave us?
In The Star Beast, it seemed as if the Doctor was going to lose Donna. In order to stop the Meep, the Doctor had to restore Donna’s memories that he’d once sealed away to save her life, so that she could use the meta-crisis energy to stop the Meep. What the Doctor didn’t realize was that the energy was split between Doctor and her daughter, meaning that she could now survive as the DoctorDonna and they could successfully stop the Meep without him losing his best friend, too.
But in the end, the destruction that the Meep almost caused was wrapped up with a pretty bow on top of it. Reversing the course of their actions and allowing Donna and Rose (Yasmin Finney) to let go of the meta-crisis energy all on their own, the end of the episode was setting up a “final” mission between the Doctor and Donna. All of this comes after the Meep is stopped by the Doctor and Donna working together and the Meep ship is kept from being blown up and destroying the planet.
As they’re standing with the TARDIS, the Doctor convinces Donna to come in with him. We get the reveal of a new TARDIS, and as the two are walking around for old times’ sake, Donna tells us that the reason she lost her last job was because she dropped a coffee on a computer—and before she could do anything else, she … dropped a coffee on the TARDIS, causing mayhem.
So the end of the episode is the Doctor and Donna being taken somewhere in space and time that they don’t know.
The future is bleak after “Wild Blue Yonder”
The end of “Wild Blue Yonder” sets up a lot for the final special with Tate and Tennant. What we do see the minute the TARDIS returns to where the Doctor and Donna left Rose, Shaun, and Sylvia is a surprise favorite: Wilf. Bernard Cribbins is sitting as our beloved Wilf when the TARDIS opens and he sees Donna emerge. Behind her is the Doctor and he cries the minute he sees the Tenth Doctor looking back at him.
For a moment, it seems like the TARDIS just brought them back to a different day but it seems like there is a lot that the Doctor and Donna missed and they have to stop some evil from taking over the world. What that means for the next episode, we don’t know but we do know that that scene is the only scene we get of Bernard Cribbins.
A happy ending for a fan favorite Doctor?
The lead up to the end of “The Giggle” seemed to be just like every other regeneration story we’ve seen time and time again with Doctor Who, this time without any explanation as to why Tennant’s Doctor and face return to the character. What we got, instead, was a quick run down of why this Doctor got to stay and whether you like it or not, he got a send off and a goodbye that was meaningful to the Doctor/Donna relationship but one that did set a precedent for future regenerations that might have ramifications if fans are just loud enough about it.
The Doctor begins to regenerate, the typical glow taking him over and before he can, he fades back into Tennant and he says to pull and that something feels different and so when Mel and Donna do pull, they reveal the 15th Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa). From there, the two Doctors play a game of catch side by side with the Toymaker and the first to drop the ball loses. That ends up being the Toymaker who is damned by the Doctor.
Now, with gifted with a new chance at life, the Tennant’s Doctor has a chance at relaxing while the new Doctor goes on to save the world but what he doesn’t understand is how he can do that without his TARDIS. Luckily, Gatwa’s Doctor uses the energy of the Toymaker to split the TARDIS into two so that Tennant’s Doctor can have his own version of the TARDIS as well. Meaning that we have the Doctor and Donna together.
The end of the episode has the Doctor eating dinner with Donna and her family while the 15th Doctor is on to his next adventure.'

Top 10 Spuffy fics I’ve read (Aug 2022)
Big Night Out by ashcrashed [R]
Because what was a Buffy Birthday, without derailed party plans thanks to damn vampire nonsense?
Dreamer by Gort [NC-17]
Buffy might dream of a normal college life but she got stuck with an annoying vampire instead. Spike’s found the Gem of Amara, but he won’t kill her and has taken to lurking around campus. Things go from bad to worse when they’re both captured by The Initiative and Maggie Walsh takes a special interest. Is Buffy crazy for relying on a vampire to help her put a stop to the professor’s genetic experiments, or is she discovering that normal might be overrated? Begins at Harsh Light of Day before going AU.
Golden Girl by all_choseny [PG]
It is Buffy's 60th Birthday; as she reflects on aging and growing older, she is reminded that Spike's love for her will never change.
Gone Switching by bewildered [NC-17]
Buffy takes a little too much pleasure in Spike’s early-morning visit, and now her secret is out. With her secret relationship with Spike all out in the open, Buffy really doesn’t need any more complications…but it’s Buffy’s post-death life, so of course complications are here, whether she wants them or not. How is she supposed to navigate her resurrected life when she’s not even herself anymore? Thanks to the EF Discord channel for the discussion of Gone dailies that inspired this plot. Oh, the difference a retake or a blooper can make…
Inside Man by Holly [NC-17]
Spike had this perfect memory of them together—her holding his hand, looking at him with tears in her eyes, telling him she loved him. If a man had to die, that was the way to do it. But in their world, the dead don’t stay dead. A completely canon-compliant retelling of AtS Season 5, beginning with Harm’s Way.
Reconnecting by honeygirl51885 [NC-17]
There she was. His exquisite clarity, packed in the body of a five foot four, bouncy blonde Slayer.
Requiem by Holly [NC-17]
Every night, he saves her. Sequel to Perchance.
The Switch by Gort [NC-17]
Faith’s body switch doesn’t exactly go according to plan and Spike and Buffy find themselves swapped instead. Does being bad really count when you’re stuck in your mortal enemy’s body? Set at the end of This Year’s Girl and goes AU immediately.
Third Wheel by Gort [Adult Only]
Buffy's tipsy, Spike's raring to go, and William's been invited to watch. Things don't go entirely as expected. Picks up immediately after "Ghosts I Have Known".
Wrong Place, Perfect Time by MaggieLaFey [NC-17] - this is an all-human story
Buffy, a successful lawyer, and William, an excellent detective, are sneaking into the LA Archives and Records Center at the last minute on Halloween day. They’re also both on the phone, and don’t notice that the elevator they’re stepping into might have a few problems. Will they get to know each other once they get stuck inside, or will they be at each other’s throats sooner than William can say “pet” and Buffy can say “sexist jerk”?

The Edge of Destruction
season 001 : story 003 : episodes 012-013
08 - 15 FEB 1964 || 27 - 28 JAN 2023
EPISODE ONE
This is possibly due to the story being so short, making the dialogue more distinct, but my god the dialogue here is great. The paranoia over whether there’s something intruding in the ship is well done, and everyone’s acting.. off.. after being knocked out definitely adds to the tension. \
Ian absentmindedly making observations of the Doctor is just so funny – just robotically pointing at the Doctor passed out on the floor asking “who’s that”.
The music at the start of the episode is really quite eerie, which matches quite well to the shadowy, claustrophobic story – “I never noticed the shadows before. It's so silent on the ship”. In light of some serials potentially being colourised for the 60th anniversary… this wouldn’t work nearly as well if it weren’t in black and white.
As The Daleks was Ian’s big moment for going up against the Doctor, this is Barbara’s;
“How dare you! Do you realise, you stupid old man, that you'd have died in the Cave of Skulls if Ian hadn't made fire for you? [...] And what about what we went through against the Daleks? Not just for us, but for you and Susan too. And all because you tricked us into going down to the city. [...] Accuse us? You ought to go down on your hands and knees and thank us. But gratitude's the last thing you'll ever have, or any sort of common sense either”. Jacqueline Hill’s performance builds to the great writing, and the scene becomes pure gold.
The Doctor continuing to be a try-hard cryptic and one-liner is evermore enjoyable; “Frankly, Doctor, I find it hard to keep pace with you” – “You mean to keep one jump ahead. That you will never be. You need my knowledge and ability to apply it, and then you need my experience to gain the fullest results”. Him trying to get out of apologising to Barbara saying there’s no need for such “rash action” is hilarious.
EPISODE TWO
While episode one had all the great dialogue based conflict, this has the sciency reasoning behind everything and despite how out there and bizarre it is… I kinda love it..? The mass of a solar system gravitationally attracting the energy inside the TARDIS core? Alright. The TARDIS preemptively stopping itself from flying to its destruction and causing a sort of time lock? Moffat might owe part of his first season to this. The quick return switch has a broken spring allowing for the fault detector to correctly say there’s no technological fault in the ships’ equipment.. a great resolution to the story’s mystery. And about the previously mentioned mass of a solar system attracting the TARDIS’ energy… “I know. I know. I said it would take the force of a total solar system to attract the power away from my ship. We're at the very beginning, the new start of a solar system. Outside, the atoms are rushing towards each other. Fusing, coagulating, until minute little collections of matter are created. And so the process goes on, and on until dust is formed. Dust then becomes solid entity. A new birth; of a sun and its planets”. The cinematography of this scene; the Doctor leaning backwards against the control column with incredible shadows all around him as he narrates this scientific process to the audience… chef’s kiss. It’s gorgeous.
I really like the ending of this story; as previously mentioned, Doctor Who likely would’ve just had these first 13 episodes if not for the immediate chokehold Dalekmania had on the public. Possibly influenced by that, this feels very.. season-finale-esq; the Doctor has made his apologies to Ian and Barbara, and although they’re not enthusiastic about their situation, they’ve seemingly embraced it – all of them donning large winter coats to go out exploring while Susan runs into the ship and attacks them with snow. They just have this very organic familial feeling and I absolutely love it.
So yeah this is definitely my favourite broadcast story so far (counting An Unearthly Child's broadcast first epsiode as it's own story is the only possibility for competition).
★★★★½

Spoiler free list of reactions I had watching Last Night in Soho:
Light switch switching off looking awesome? normal things looking cool? yeah, this definitely is an Edgar Wright film.
Thunderball!
It’s Phillippa Collins-Davidson from Endeavour series 2 episode 2, Nocturne (Anya Taylor-Joy). She’s grown up from Blythe Mount....no wait that episode takes place in 1966.
....Has my embarrassing preteen/ teenage crush on Matt Smith come back?
This dance scene is great!
...Why am I getting eleventh Doctor vibes from this scene? Come back for the 60th please!
Puppet on a string.... wait, thanks to Endeavour series 3, I know that came out in 1967 and this film is apparently set in 1965 because Thunderball... eh I’m not going to question it.
God this film soundtrack is awesome!
The mirror acting in this is brilliant!
The lighting, oh my god the lighting is so cool!
THE EDITING OF THIS FILM!!!!
I think I love this film!
I recognise that street...Why am I now expecting the Bentley to show up?!
This is tragic!
....I need a wee, but it’s too good to miss!
A lot of bad stuff happens in Soho.
Best horror film!!
Okay scrap just best horror film, this is the BEST FILM I’ve seen all year! and I’ve seen No Time To Die!
Spoiler reactions I had during the film:
‘For Diana’ -don’t make me sad! I forgot a legend was in this film! It’s her final role too!
God Jocasta is a b*tch. Don’t fake a suicide sob story! I dislike you so much!
Oh my god, James and Oliver Phelps!!!! Okay yes they played your favourite Harry Potter characters, but stop bloody grinning!!!
Aww the Phelps twins aren’t in there more, but still neat cameo, you’d barely know it’s both of them there, if you didn’t google which one was in it like I did!
Creepy old dude? Yeah...they’re making him out to be the villain but he’s not going to be the villain. It’s too obvious.
I like John, he believes Ellie, and he’s so nice he’s the kind of guy I want in my life!...he’s going to die isn’t he?
Where’s Finnick? O’Dair he his!
*whilst Ellie is in the library* Yeah... Diana Rigg is Sandy, isn’t she? She’s the only other character with a surname we know beyond Ellie and we don’t know her first name and it’s Diana Rigg, an absolute legend in her last film, she’s got to be important.
Yeah that creepy old guy isn’t Jack is he?
Oh my god, watch the car....wait THAT WAS FORESHADOWED IN THEIR FIRST INTERACTION! Edgar Wright, king of foreshadowing in films!
Nope he’s not Jack!
Oh sh*t!
I was right!
Yeah I’ve watched to much detective fiction....
No John!!!
Okay this is f*cking creepy!
No don’t kill Sandy! She needs to go to prison!
I mean those f*ckers deserved what they got but still.
Heck yeah!
Okay, that was a pretty awesome line, even from a dead arsehole.
Why are you sympathetic towards her, she’s a serial killer?!
Eh okay let her die, she’ll probably go to hell with her victims.
...what happened to Jocasta? she got almost stabbed, and is never seen again, presumably she quit fashion school? If so, good riddance!
Yes! They all got their happy endings! Technically.

I’ve been trying to piece together a few things from your Twitter and Tumblr posts alike and still can’t make heads or tales of things, so would you mind helping out a FF & spideytorch noob? 1) what is currently happening with Johnny in the comics? (I’ve fallen head over heels for this guy, largely all your doing) 2) when’s the last time he and Peter have interacted, canon wise? (And do you think upcoming interactions are likely?) 3) your thoughts on if they’ll have him come out in the near future? (has that ‘biggest change to the fantastic four’ teaser come to pass yet?) Love all your content, thank you!
I'd say no problem but then I started thinking about this current run again and got a headache. But yes, I can do that to save you from reading it, because it is very largely not good.
So I don't think it's unfair to just flat out say the current Fantastic Four run is not very good, largely due to writer Dan Slott's efforts. Slott was previously on Amazing Spider-Man for 10 years, to mixed opinions, but a large portion of Spider-Man fandom, myself included, blames him near singlehandedly for the decline in quality of Spider-Man books over those ten years. I will say, in the interest of fairness, that Slott as a writer has an incredible fondness for the Spider-Man/Human Torch relationship, and that a lot of the recent teamups and interactions between them have been written or co-written by him. So it's all not all negative here. But in general, I personally find Slott's more recent comics (the last seven-ish years especially) to be badly plotted out, messily characterized disasters that feature characters written with all the emotion of a cardboard cutout. That's me putting it nicely.
To explain this fully, you have to understand the position Fantastic Four comics were in from the years 2015 through 2018, both in the fictional 616 universe and in the real publishing world. Following the 2015 Secret Wars event (great if you want some Johnny angst in the background of your plot), the Fantastic Four were disbanded -- Reed, Sue, and their many biological and found family children were presumed dead but in reality were remaking the multiverse, unable, for a reason that was never clearly defined, to reach home. Ben and Johnny were left on Earth. They had an unspecified falling out, likely due to Reed and Sue's absence, and went their separate ways -- Ben joined the Guardians of the Galaxy and went to space. Johnny was featured on both Inhumans and Avengers books. What's notable about this period is that it's the first time since 1961 that there was no Fantastic Four book being published by Marvel. Now the real world reason behind this is both complicated and extremely petty: Marvel really wanted the Fantastic Four film rights. Marvel denied this explanation at the time, stating that the reason was sales motivated, but it was a thoroughly flimsy excuse and Jonathan Hickman, writer of 2015's Secret Wars and overseer of the current X-Men plot, gave an interview saying the decision was film rights motivated. This decision kept the Fantastic Four books off the shelves for three years, up until the Disney-Fox merger, which secured the X-Men and Fantastic Four rights for Disney's Marvel Studios. Marvel then announced that the Fantastic Four book would be returning. So that's a little bit of background as to the precarious place the Fantastic Four currently occupy in the Marvel universe -- it's worth noting that this year is their 60th anniversary, and Marvel has done very little for it. Compare this to the X-Men, whose film rights Marvel also obtained during the Disney-Fox merger, and whose books are currently dominating the publishing lineup. The Fantastic Four definitely occupy an unpopular position, one Marvel themselves is at least partially responsible for forcing them into.
But to move back into the actual content of the book -- the readjustment period Slott wrote reintroducing the Fantastic Four into the Marvel universe can be described as clumsy, at best. It's never fully explained why Reed, Sue, and the kids couldn't return to Earth, something that was explored in Chip Zdarsky's 2017 Marvel Two-in-One, which featured Ben, Johnny, and Doom on a multiversal roadtrip to try and find their family and which I on the whole recommend, despite it having an awkward ending due to being cut short by Slott's announced Fantastic Four main title.
Tumblr media
(Marvel Two-in-One 2017 #4)
Instead, the Fantastic Four return to a Marvel universe a little different than how they left it, with the Baxter Building -- formerly the offices of Parker Industries, the company Doc Ock started in Peter's body during Superior Spider-Man that Peter inherited after his defeat and then lost spectacularly when he trashed his own company to fight nazis (good for him) -- occupied by a different fantastic foursome in a plot that goes nowhere and does nothing. This is somewhat emblematic of the early days of Slott's run -- he introduces ideas that fail to go anywhere, including Johnny's rekindled relationship with his other best friend and former college roommate, Wyatt Wingfoot, who he was seen being very cuddly with in the early issues.
Tumblr media
(FF 2018 #1) A small group of Fantastic Four fans have argued for a while that if Marvel was to have Johnny come out, a relationship with Wyatt would feel very natural -- they're already close, with Wyatt being an important Fantastic Four supporting character since the '60s. I have some further analysis here on the conspiracy theory that Johnny and Wyatt were supposed to be in relationship at the beginning of this run but that that plot was, for whatever reason, nixed. I don't know that I entirely believe this theory, for the record -- but I do think the pieces line up remarkably well.
Anyway, that didn't/hasn't yet happened, obviously. Slott instead for the most part put Johnny on the back burner for the beginning of his run, up until the Spyre arc, which I have reason to believe is the main story he pitched that he credits with securing him the Fantastic Four title. The Spyre arc suggests that the Fantastic Four's failed space exploration during which they got their powers wasn't just to beat the commies to the moon, as Lee and Kirby envisioned (simpler days), but to reach a specific planet outside of our galaxy. When the team sets out to conquer this mission, they arrive at the planet, but are quickly captured. The planet, they find out, operates like a soulmate AU -- everyone has a fated person that they are matched to via a gold armband. Reed and Sue are soulmates (and Ben is confined to an underground subterranean with the other monsters, because this is a Fantastic Four comic) while it's discovered! Shocker! That Johnny is actually the soulmate of the one the planet's inhabitants, a winged woman named Sky, with the suggestion that this is both why Johnny's previous relationships have never worked and why he loves space exploration -- he was just trying to get to his Soulmate TM.
Tumblr media
(FF 2018 #15) "What's going on here? Where are my clothes?" As you can see, this didn't start off super great, with Johnny being separated from his family, stripped naked, and put in Sky's bed with a soulmate armband slapped on him. Did I mention they're only removable if your soulmate takes it off for you? And that Sky has consistently refused despite Johnny asking her to? Yeah. It's bad. (I think it's important to note Johnny's long history as a victim of assault plays into this narrative, whether or not Slott is personally holding that in mind while writing, which I don't believe he is. cw in the linked post for discussions of sexual assault.) There's an additional issue here in that Slott has a history of problematic writing regarding women of color, featuring characters he's created to act as love interests being oversexualized, infantilized, villainized, or some mix of all three, with two examples of this phenomena being Cindy Moon and Lian Tang, both of whom he introduced in quick succession in Amazing Spider-Man. Slott certainly didn't have to write Sky as manipulative or controlling towards Johnny, but that's what he chose to do, and that factors into the bigger picture of unfortunate themes in his writing.
Sky returns to Earth with the Fantastic Four despite Johnny appearing unenthused about the idea and initially generally reluctant to interact with her. Apparently they went on a few dates after this and kind of made up. I don't know because I stopped reading for about ten issues in there but I feel confident I missed very little. It's hard to talk about the Sky plot without referencing Johnny's previous interactions with a character named Lyja, a Skrull whose relationship to Johnny I have a long breakdown of here. It's doubly hard, because Lyja actually showed back up in Fantastic Four during this plot. Lyja's modus operandi has remained consistent throughout almost all of her appearances, which I guess makes sense, because she literally has no storylines that do not involve her being obsessed with Johnny, and this recent story isn't any different: Lyja shows up, Lyja disguises herself as another woman in Johnny's life to get close to Johnny, Lyja gets caught and claims it was all fine because she did it for love. This time she disguised herself as Sky.
Tumblr media
(FF 2018 #32) Not gonna lie, kind of proud of him for this one. That's one of my problems with Slott -- very occasionally, he busts out good moments, only to undermine them with the rest of his narrative.
Tumblr media
In the same issue, Alicia Masters, the first woman Lyja impersonated in order to get close to Johnny, uses her supervillain stepfather's radioactive clay to control Lyja's mind and send her back to space, and I do think she utilized girl power when she did this. Johnny, left reeling after Lyja's latest attempts to trick him into a relationship, ends this issue by sleeping with Victorious, Dr. Doom's right hand woman.
Tumblr media
I know she pegged him. I know it. This scene was a little controversial in Johnny fandom, because a lot of people viewed it as Johnny cheating on Sky and thought that that action was out of character for Johnny. I'm personally of a little different opinion, which is that regardless of whether or not you view Johnny and Sky in a committed enough relationship that Johnny's tryst would count as infidelity when all Johnny and Sky are bound by are magic plot soulmate bracelets, I think Lyja's involvement changes things significantly when it comes to Johnny's characterization. All of Johnny's "playboy" periods, if we can call them that, coincide directly with Lyja having been in and then left his life again, which I think makes a certain amount of sense -- it's Johnny trying to wrest control back after a situation where he had none. None of this is explicitly canon, I have to note, but sometimes in comics you have to do the work yourself. So I think this is a case of something being accidentally extremely in character that Slott accidentally stumbled into because he had these love triangles in mind, not because he put a lot of thought into it.
Speaking of love triangles! Johnny sleeping with Victorious gets more complicated when Dr. Doom announces his intent to marry Victorious -- not because he has any romantic interest in her (this engagement caused a lot of uproar in Fantastic Four because Victorious had been previously referred to as being like Doom's adopted daughter) but in order to install her as Latverian regent in his absence. I'm not going to lie, I love a political wedding. Victorious, for some reason, thinks Doom will be deeply upset that she slept with some closeted blond twink and the member of the Fantastic Four he views least as an enemy and more as an annoyance. Johnny, who Sky is currently not talking to because she "felt" him sleeping with Victorious through their magic plot soulmate bracelets, also feels nervous about Doom finding out about this, which I guess is slightly more valid. Anyway, for some completely ridiculous reason, Victorious decides the best time to tell Doom about this little indiscretion is when they're standing at the altar, which coincidentally the Fantastic Four are also standing at, because Doom asked Reed to be his best man in a not at all homoerotic little setup involving midnight swordfighting and Reed slipping Doom's emerald ring onto his own finger. Sorry to sidetrack into DoomReed territory here but it's just like. It's just a lot.
Tumblr media
(FF 2018 #33) Also, Ben walked the bride down the aisle. :,) Look at his gigantic hand.
Anyway then Doom decides he's going to kill everyone in a completely reasonable and not at all overblown reaction to Johnny and Zora having what was most likely both disappointing for Zora and weepy for Johnny sex. And that brings us up to where Fantastic Four comics left us yesterday -- in answer to your "big change" question, that's most likely coming up in the next issue, so it hasn't come to pass yet.
Having gotten all that out of the way -- the last time Johnny and Peter interacted canon-wise was in the recent Empyre Fallout Fantastic Four, at the end of the Empyre event:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
It was cute! Slott does right good interactions between them. This is possibly the Stockholm Syndrome talking. I don't know if more interactions are likely imminent -- the Empyre event was fairly recent. On the other hand, Slott does like writing interactions between them. So I'd give it about a 50/50 shot. I was skimming the letter page in the latest issue and someone wrote in asking if Peter was likely to appear in the pages of Fantastic Four again any time soon, so there is definitely a demand.
As for Johnny coming out -- I don't know. It's not a call I feel comfortable making at this moment, which I guess means I wouldn't bet money on it. I'd like to say yes, especially because I think Slott set up, whether that was his intention or more likely not, several good places in his run where Johnny could have come out. The beginning, when he's implied to be living with Wyatt again and where he and Wyatt are paralleled against Ben and Alicia. Ben's bachelor party, where Johnny laments not finding the right person -- specifically person and not woman -- and where Ben tells him to "be brave, Johnny Storm." And the soulmate planet plot, where I think could have had a very different and much better ending if Johnny had told Sky that she couldn't be his romantic soulmate, because he knows he wants to be with a man. But those are just places that I think would have made good opportunities for a coming out story. Instead, Johnny's been involved (dubiously) with three different women over the space of the last 10 issues, which is more heterosexuality at one time than he's been confronted with in the last 60 years. So my thoughts are still that it's going to happen eventually, but quite possibly not anytime soon.
Hope that helps! And that my incredibly long answer about what's currently going on with Johnny in comics sheds some light on things!

The Case File – Mice and Murder Ep 1
The Case of the The Pernicious Party
Hello, hello, hello! It’s been a hot second but your resident D20 recapper is back to tackle the newest season: Mice and Murder! Y’all had to know I wasn’t gonna sit out the murder mystery, are you kidding me???
I might be playing around with the format a bit in the coming weeks to make sure I have the best possible system for keeping track of possible clues, suspects, and theories as we untangle whatever web Brennan weaves for us this season so don’t be surprised if things change a little.
Anyway, without further ado, onto our mystery!
Summary
In case you missed it, this season takes place in an alternate, Zootopia/Wind in the Willows-esque universe where all the characters are animals but history seems to have happened in more or less the same way--for example there was still a King Charles but he was a King Charles Spaniel (cute Brennan). Our story specifically takes place in the English village of Tufting Meadows.
We start with Katie’s character--Gangie Green (Weasel/Thief Rogue) in the graveyard of the Anglican Chapel (Our Lady of Prayerful Paws). Gangie, we learn, is an orphan who was kicked out of the orphanage at some point for thievery. Obviously, he’s not reformed of the habit because he is here to do some graverobbing. On a nat 20 (that Katie hilariously doesn’t notice even though her total is like a 29) Gangie can see through the window of the rectory that there is a weeping window inside--Catherine McCabbage who is being (dubiously) tended to by Raph’s character, Vicar Ian Prescott (Owl/Bard, College of Eloquence).
Ian comes from a line of men of the cloth but he’s not exactly the best speaker despite his subclass. He’s doing his best though! The widow’s husband (Conor McCabbage) died at the local mill in what has been declared an accident but she suspects foul play. She’s been hearing his voice on the wind and wants Ian’s professional opinion on whether this could be a sign from God or if her husband might be speaking to her from beyond the grave or something like that. Ian gives a very muddled and not very comforting answer but seems pretty sure that something sketchy did in fact happen. Then, he sees a crack of lightning outside which illuminates the graveyard where he gets a glimpse of Gangie.
He goes to check it out (and Gangie fully has an elderly goat he’s dug up slung over his shoulder) but “gravedigger” is his legit job so Ian decides to assume whatever’s going on is legit and not ask too many questions. He goes back to the widow (who, before she leaves, says that maybe sometimes people need to work on God’s behalf) while Gangie takes the body Loam Hall (a massive manor, built into a hill).
We cut to the next day and our next two characters!
At 22B Hamsted Street in a pretty well appointed home are Ally and Grant’s characters. First up, we have Lars Vandenchomp (Huge ass Doberman/Battlemaster Fighter) who is so tough looking but also so Swedish sounding--it’s A Lot (so, incredibly on brand for Ally). Lars is security for Grant’s character Sylvester Cross (Fox/Inquisitive Rogue) who is a kinda (to use Grant’s word) “foppish” Sherlock Holmes type. He was hired by Squire William Thornwall Brockhollow to figure out what happened with Conor McCabbage (and clear him of negligence in running the mill) but he couldn’t find any evidence of any funny business, making this the only case he’s never cracked. He’s not as young or popular as he once was so this is, understandably, bumming him out. He’s even more bummed out when he realizes that William has invited him to his 60th birthday party that’s happening that night (as kind of a prop to show that he did his part in trying to solve the mystery) and Lars has already RSVP’d yes. He grudgingly agrees to go as it’s one of those asks that’s really more of a veiled demand but decides to pull the money he was paid from the bank first so he can return it and really stick it to the guy.
Finally, we cut to our last set of PCs who are on their way to Tufting Meadows via a very luxurious train. Inside are Sam and Rekha’s characters! Sam is Buckster $ Boyd (Peccary which is like a small boar/Mastermind Rouge) a Texan Oil Tycoon who acts exactly how you’d expect a Texan Oil Pig to act. Yes, you pronounce the dollar sign as “dollar sign” (even though as we find out later his middle name is Cassius so it’s like Cash which I think is super cool). With him is Rekha’s character, Daisy D'umpstaire (Raccoon/Assassin (???) Rogue another American (from South Carolina) though it seems she’s My Fair Lady’d herself into an upper class socialite (her last name was previously Dumpster). They’re traveling with their accountant, an Armadillo named Armond who seems kinda skittish and concerned about their travel expenses but Buck tells him that to make money you gotta spend money and they’re gonna make a *ton* of money on this trip. They’re also so so mean to him for absolutely no reason.
When the train stops, they’re greeted by Templeton Padhop (a frog, natch) who is the chauffeur of Loan Hall, sent to fetch them. A wheel on his car is broken so he joins in on the Armond abuse immediately and has Armond roll into an Armadillo ball and replace it. Poor guy. When they show up they're greeted by a footman--a pug in a bowler hat named Milo Snout.
Meanwhile, Lars and Sly (Oh, Sly fox, I see what you did there Grant) are similarly greeted by another footman--a lizard named Basil Baskins. On a 23 perception check, Lars sees that Jeremy “Jez” Brockhollow is inside (the son of William who is a badger btw) and also clocks Gangie (who they know as a career criminal who disappeared like a year ago). Gangie doesn’t notice Lars though.
Ian, who is also invited, shows up at about the same time as Sly but very quickly, the conversation is taken over by Lucretia “Lucy” Brockhollow, William’s older, eccentric sister who immediately gets into it with Lars about astrology and the occult (she thinks bad stuff is happening because of a curse let loose when Sly’s old rival--a rabbit named Fletcher Cottonbottom who is the son of his former employer--opened an Egyptian tomb). They’re thick as thieves right away because Ally is a nonsense magnet. And not like a regular magnet, one of those big electromagnets.
Daisy and Buck spot William’s kids--the aforementioned Jez and his older sister Constance--along with their husbands Dr. Corbin Magpie (Constance’s and obv a magpie and a doctor) and Osmond Sheffield (Jez’s who is a Ram and a lawyer). Daisy is too stuck in her conversation with a truly unhinged squirrel (Lady Eugenia Bristlebrush who clearly does not know she’s in a murder mystery because she just keeps talking about how much she hates and wants to kill everyone) to hear what’s going on but she indicates the conversation to Buck who is able to eavesdrop and hear that they’re lamenting that Catherine--the widow--RSVP’d no which is gonna look really bad, like they didn’t invite her (bad PR).
Buck, introducing himself as a business partner of William, eases into a conversation with the husbands which their respective spouses also join into and we learn that Buck's dad was British and a friend of Willian’s. Buck bonds with Jez (who is a bit of a dilettante) really quickly since Buck is ready to go drinks-wise immediately (and there’s a stellar pun about the “American [Drinking] Constitution''). Through the window, Buck notices Gangie outside getting his attention.
At the same time, Ian is going from party guest to party guest, giving out the penances he forgot to earlier at church (as one does). We see him talking to the Lord and Lady Bramble (a cow and hedgehog, respectively) and while she wants to pray her way out of situations without doing any legwork, he wants to buy his way out and gives Ian 250 pounds. A frustrating but financially lucrative conversation.
Buck goes outside to talk to Gangie who has a list of names of the bodies he’s been collecting. We’re not told what Buck is doing but it seems that this list is extremely valuable to him in some way. Gangie (who Buck keeps calling Gangly, to his annoyance) pays him handsomely (like, with a 50% tip) for the list (and Gangie gives him the real list, despite Brennan saying he didn’t have to). We also learn that Gangie has allegedly been getting the orders from someone in Loa Hall and they flow from William himself.
Matilda Molesly (a mole and the head maid) invites Gangie to come in from the rain--she’s the only person who’s been consistently nice to him and he agrees to come in for tea and scones.
Everyone is ushered together by the butler (because of course there’s a butler--he’s quite literally a fancy rat named Thomas Gilfoyle) and William gives a speech where he wishes Conor well and kinda highlights that he did hire Sly to solve the case in a “Hey, I did my bit don’t blame me” kind of way. He also makes a 150k pound donation to the church (and Ian thought 250 was good) and tells his daughter not to read the praise he got for it from the cardinal when she mentions it (I wonder if that was choreographed). Sly interrupts the speech to “magnanimously” give his money back, to William’s annoyance. Buck notices that Lawrence Longfoot (a nouveau rich, rabbit photographer) takes a pic of the scene but with Sly in the foreground and William in the background.
Then, a few things happen at once (in a very cinematic way):
As the camera flashes, Mrs. Molesly drops her tray, eyes hurt by the light. Lady Calliope Fawnbrooke (Deer, Matron of the Arts) helps her up.
In the moment of dark, after the flash goes away, the butler disappears.
Buck thinks he sees a shape through the window, out in the rain.
A cheer goes up for Sly for returning the money but all Sly can focus on is one figure he recognizes in the back of the room. Daisy, who is downing her drink and not cheering for him. He downs his as well, and looks at her until she breaks the stare and leaves the room.
And this episode doesn’t end with a dead body like I thought, but with a flashback to a younger Sylvester, 12 years ago when he first met Daisy.
PC INTERPERSONAL DRAMA Y’ALL!!! Get HYPED!
Case Notes
Here is a compilation of all the characters (PCs and NPCs introduced in this episode).
Sly mentions that Ignatius Cottonbottom faked his own death as a part of some scheme which seems like a backstory point that might come back later--we now know that there exists a way to convincingly fake your own death in this world.
Sly walks with a walking stick because of some “mysterious accident” but we’re jumping into a flashback next week so it looks like we might find out about it pretty soon.
Sly also mentions he used to be the personal physician to the elder Cottonbottom so those are skills he has. I wonder if that’ll be useful to this healer-less party. I wonder if cleric was even an option in this world which seems to be low to no magic. It would explain by Ian is a bad and not a cleric.
Lars has a military background which I wanted to mention in case it becomes relevant later.
And Dr. Magpie grew up poor and still acts it a bit even though he married a very rich woman. Brennan uses the very good line, “He forces his body into the shape of an apology”
This might be a really deep cut reference but did anyone else here was the old Britcom “Keeping Up Appearances”? Cause I was getting serious Bouquet/Bucket energy from Daisy.
This is an all College Humor season and it shows. The energy of 6 (7 if you count Brennan) top notch comedians sparking off of each other, trying to one up each other is off the charts. Some of the best bits this episode:
“When God closes every door but one, you go through the door that is open.” followed by “I’m an owl by the way.”
“Time is money, here’s both” from Buck re his inscribed gold pocket watch--everyone at the table loved that so much and they’re right.
Armond going from being a third to a fourth wheel.
And the names--I already shouted out a ton on the main recap but also a rat butler (like Rhett Butler) and naming the mouse Cat(therine). Can’t forget Gangie Green/gangrene from Katie. Also points to Ally for the data stealing Eel Musk which broke Brennan a little.
I know we just went through this with Crown of Candy but what are these animals eating? Like, in Zootopia there were only mammals so we can assume the carnivores are eating like birds and fish but there are sentient birds here. I know this isn’t important. I’m not trying to do a CinemaSins gotcha. I just wonder, you know?
Y’all were waiting for all the lights to go out during that speech and then come back on and there’d be a body too, right?
If Brennan makes the bad guy a chicken or a duck or something so he can make a “fowl play” joke, he is cordially invited to catch these hands.
I have been waiting for Raph and Katie to do D20 forever. Their specific brand of nonsense on Rank Room was always amazing.
I love love love that Grant and Rekha are the PCs that have ~a past~ because they are so funny together. If you haven’t seen their episode of Game Changers, you absolutely must (it’s also a murder mystery actually!).

A World Cup Victory and A Crushing Defeat  (Kelley O’Hara x Reader)
Tumblr media
Anonymous Request:  Hi, I really love all of your imagines! Could you do a Kelley O'Hara x reader where reader plays for the Royals and Brazil WNT and is dating Kelley. After Brazil lost the game against France in the World Cup reader is basically crushed and Kelley comforts her. Then at the final the reader is in the stands cheering with Kelley's jersey and after they win she celebrates with the USWNT. Thank you in advance and I hope you have an amazing day.
Kelley knew you were absolutely crushed. You’d been gushing to her for weeks about being in the World Cup, about how you couldn’t wait to face her and the USWNT.
You were confident after winning the group stage, but in the end, France had led to your team’s downfall in the semi finals.
“Hey.” You hear a soft whisper before you head in the locker room, turning towards your girlfriend with a small smile.
“Hey.”
Kelley knew what utter defeat felt like when they’d lost against Sweden at the Olympics, she knew exactly how that felt and she would never wish that pain on anyone, especially not you.
Everyone knew you and Kelley were together, the woman there in support of you against France, even if the two of you would inevitably face one another on the pitch, Kelley wanted you to know she was there for you.
Kelley’s arms slip around you and you duck down, burying your nose in her neck as you cling to her, the woman whispering soft reassurances in your ear, along with peppering your cheek with kisses.
“You did everything you could, you played your hardest and I couldn’t be any prouder of you.”
Kelley cups your cheeks, leaning in to press a kiss to your lips.
“I love you, and I’m so proud.” She whispers as she kisses you again, her forehead resting against yours.
“I love you too... Thank you, for being here for me.” You whisper and Kelley nods, grinning as she presses another kiss to your lips.
“Always.”
                                                          ***
The second you made it to the hotel you were dragged away by Kelley, the woman saying that the two of you were spending a day in together and it was in no way up for debate.
How could you complain though?
Spending an entire day in bed, snuggled up to Kelley O’Hara, that was a dream come true.
Kelley runs her fingers through your hair, her nails digging into the nape of your neck which leaves you absolutely purring beneath her fingers, the woman sending you a dreamy smile.
You were utterly heartbroken over the loss, over the fact that you wouldn’t face Kelley in the World Cup, but under the woman’s ministrations you were able to relax, the blow of losing softening beneath your girlfriend’s tender touch.
Kelley curls into your side, her head on your chest as her fingers continue running through your hair.
“Trying to put me to sleep?” You yawn tiredly, the defender grinning.
“I mean, a day in wouldn’t be complete without a nap, would it?” Kelley asks and you smile, rolling over to face her.
Kelley cups your cheek, leaning in to press a kiss to your lips.
“You know I’m proud of you, right?” She smiles and you nod, chuckling.
“I’ve heard you say it a few times today.” You bump your nose against hers and the woman beams.
You clear your throat.
“You know I’m proud of you too?” You whisper and she nods.
“I know you are.”
“So proud that I’m staying for the rest of the World Cup.” You grin and she shakes her head.
“You don’t have to do that...” She glances away and you shake your head, turning her head until your eyes lock.
“I want to... I want to see my girl play.” Your grin splitting your face in half as Kelley’s cheeks flush.
“Awwwwww.” You coo, and the defender grumbles.
“Shut up.”
“But you’re so cuteeeee.” You tease, tickling her sides and she giggles, wiggling in your hold.
“Nooo, I’m not.” She mumbles and you shake your head, peppering her face with kisses.
“Yessss, you are.” You laugh as Kelley tries to wiggle out of your hold, but to no avail.
You eventually stop your assault, your forehead resting against Kelley’s as the two of you pant.
“I want to be here to watch you play because I love you.” You whisper and Kelley’s cheeks flush, a dazzling smile stretching across her face.
“I love you too... And I’m glad you want to stay...” She shrugs. “Winning wouldn’t be the same without you here.” She murmurs and you grin.
“Awwwwwwwwww.”
“Shut up.”
                                                          ***
As you promised you were there for every game, needless to say you were incredibly excited when USWNT beat France courtesy of Megan Rapinoe’s boot.
Just like every other fan you were on the edge of your seat, but you were there each and every time cheering your girlfriend on, your girlfriend who would excitedly run to you with a squeal after winning, jumping into your arms and pressing a kiss to your lips.
But today... Today was the day of the final.
The WWC Final, and your girlfriend was again in it, and she was starting.
You, the proud girlfriend you are, were on your feet the entire time, proudly wearing your #5 jersey in support of the woman you loved.
Again, much like everyone you were on the edge of your seat, the game between the Netherlands and the USWNT was going to be an intense one, both teams fighting for the right to be called World Cup Champions.
It’s in the end of the first half that you jump to your feet, watching in horror as Kelley falls to the ground, she and Martens connecting violently in the air.
“Shit.” You mumble, watching in worry as your girlfriend eventually moves to her feet, though you can easily tell there’s something wrong.
The whistle blows signaling the end of the first half and almost immediately you’re leaving your seat and taking off after your girlfriend.
                                                          ***
“Kelley, I know you’re upset but you have to go off.” You hear Jill’s voice, followed quickly by Kelley’s.
“I don’t go off!” She barks back angrily and you sigh, running your hands down your face before knocking on the locker room door.
You’ve barely even poked your head inside the locker room before Kelley is on you, her arms wrapped tightly around you.
“Come on in Y/N.” Jill waves you in and you nod, carrying Kelley in, the defender clinging to you like a koala bear, mumbling against your neck about how she’s fine and she doesn’t want to go off the pitch.
“Kel, you took a pretty bad knock to the head...” You frown, the woman shaking her head.
“But I’m fine Y/N...” She mumbles and you shake your head.
“You aren’t baby, you aren’t...” You whisper and Kelley sniffles.
“But...”
“How would you feel if I took a hit like that and tried to stay on the field?” You ask and Kelley pulls back, her tear-filled brown orbs locking with your Y/E/C ones.
Eventually, she relents, taking a deep breath before nodding.
“I just, I don’t want to.” She pouts and you smile, kissing her forehead.
“For me?” You ask and she groan, drawing the attention of her teammates who smile as she cuddles back into your chest.
“Fine. I’ll do it for you, but I won’t like it.”
                                                          ***
And dislike it Kelley did, thankfully you were able to sit in the VIP area and hold her against your chest, the woman pouting and mumbling under her breath the second play started.
It was in the 60th minute that everything changes, Megan Rapinoe sinking the penalty kick into the back of the net, 9 minutes later another goal courtesy of Rose Lavelle.
“Oh my god you’re going to do it.” You whisper in her ear, Kelley practically shaking with excitement.
The closer it gets to the 90-minute mark, the more excited Kelley gets, itching to run out onto the field.
“Go join your teammates.” You nod to those gathered on the sidelines.
Kelley kisses your lips, grinning before she moves to stand beside them, jumping on her heels with glee.
The final whistle blows and you’re on your feet, screaming with excitement along with the crowd as the USWNT wins another World Cup, getting another Star on their jerseys.
You hold your hands high above your head, clapping as the team gets their medals and holds the trophy high.
Eventually, Kelley makes her way back to you, basically jumping on you, her lips pressing against yours.
“What do you say, you come celebrate with us?” She grins and you glance over her shoulder, seeing a few of her teammates waving you over, Alex and Allie grinning as they flail at you.
“Are you sure? I mean I am on a different-
Kelley cuts you off with another kiss, of course, you’re only happy to reciprocate.
“I want my girlfriend with me to celebrate.” She whispers and you nod.
“Okay. I’ll come.”
Kelley squeals, taking your hand and dragging you onto the field, leaving you to wonder what you’d gotten yourself in to.
                                                          ***
“Where in the hell are my clothes?” You grumble, sitting up, looking down when you realize you’re in just a pair of boxers, your chest exposed.
“I imagine they’re wherever mine are.” Kelley mumbles as she sits up, wiping her eyes as glances around the room.
Suddenly, Alex walks out of the bathroom, yawning loudly, thankfully you’re able to pull the covers up over you and Kelley in time.
“Where the hell were you?” Kelley asks and Alex shrugs.
“The bathtub.”
Kelley shrugs.
“At least she has clothes on.”
You turn to a girlfriend, your eyes wide.
“Seriously, what have you gotten me in to?” You ask and Kelley yawns scooting closer.
“Nothing we’ll be able to remember in a week.”

MY THEORY OF GILLOVNY
What if these two actually are together in real life. What if it IS a possibility. As lunatic as it seems, I can’t help but think about it. I have a life of my own, believe me, yet I keep coming back to this thought every once in a while, because I admit I’ve never seen anything like it before and I am not someone who gives even a flying fuck about celebrities. But these two make me wonder and I don’t know what is it about them, but I somehow want to believe in them.
What if their undeniable chemistry truly is real and their love is so much more than just a friendship.
What if Peter Morgan truly is nothing but a colleague and some kind of publicity she caught herself in, because even with all the “proof” of them being a couple, something just doesn’t sit right.
Her behavior, the gestures around him, it just doesn’t seem like a well loved, happy beyond dream kinda woman, I don’t physically see it. I truly don’t get the “love of my life” vibe. Do you?
Stiff, reserved and all in all a bit cold even, they truly make me wonder if it might be just a PR stunt. And, look, if I saw her crazy happy with a guy I’d be happy for her, totally. But, this? Nah, I don’t buy this shit.
Which, when I look back at all the gillovny moments, as crazy as it was, makes me believe that it was more than just an acted out exaggeration. And not even just a deep, year long friendship.
What if it truly passed all of that and became a romance at some point, and a big one. It certainly did look like it at a time. And while it currently looks like it had already ended, it made me think - what if that’s the point?
It takes a fool not to notice their ways towards each other, and even with all the denials, which sure make it hard to believe, when you see it for yourself it naturally comes as a possibility. It seems like a waste not to pursue something like that.
If we go back to the hints. The random sightings. Some might be made up, I am sure, but then some seem just crazy accurate.
What’s with the random dates in their lives, how can it all be so synchronized. Is it just random luck or is it an ode or a message to one another of some sort?
Why were they spotted in the same places so many times, randomly and out of their professional time together. Why the visits on sets, the airport sightings, the deleted tweets that seemed to reveal a little bit too much, the supposed holiday trips to the same destinations.
Why do people in the biz say stuff like “You mean Gillian and David? They’re not married, but they have been together for a while now.” Why does a random person (who apparently works for tv) on fb wish them a happy bday, then posts about how they have been together for a while now and how it was a nice surprise. And why would someone just say that out of the blue? Yep, it probably meant nothing. But, again. What if there was some truth to that? And that was only a fucking year ago.
How do two people accidentally get crippled at the same time? Also the stories from that same event, of how they love each other and their gestures towards one other, them arriving together and entering separately? What the hell are people noticing? Wasn’t she already kinda supposedly taken by then?
Why does she always wear the link bracelet, she wore it in their “good times” and it truly seems like a gift from D, which, of course, we will never know matter of fact, but it just feels like it. She has it on constantly, it seems so telling. She also wears it on red carpets with PM all the time and on almost every photoshoot. What IF it is from DD, wouldn’t that say something?
Also the necklace with a link he once wore on the stage of one of his concerts, could that very link be a part of her chain? If yes, then that is some deeply romantic shit.
Also the recent interviews, one in particular comes to mind. First, her mentioning her supposed boyfriend subtly and only saying the name out loud when asked about it, then proceeding to talk about her “partner” and telling a story of how they were talking about the aging process, but how they respect it because they are both going through it. Why does it feel like the mentioned totally fits someone else, like she’d discuss such a thing with someone who has been a part of her life for a long time and she had inevitably experienced this process with during the years. Does this click for anyone else too, or am I crazy and making up shit?
This was the moment when I stopped to think if just maybe there was a crazy possibility of David still being in her life.
Why does she speak about it being so good not living with her man and how she doesn’t see him that often, but when she does it’s special and it works for them.
While she must have been seeing her “current man” on set all the time. Do you notice how a lot of stuff that are supposedly about PM just don’t add up? Also, again, does the story make you think about someone else as well?
Also, have to throw this in here. The Christmas Jonathan Ross show. The sudden David (dick) reference. The Rob Lowe (apparently a good friend of David’s) saying “not far off from what I’ve been told” then both of them giggling together, almost as if an inside joke. The kind that gives off the vibe of making you wonder if the size thing’s something she’d accidentally blab out and brag about jokingly at some dinner party they once shared.
Why does she usually not give a fuck about half the stuff said, yet she would feel so shaken by people’s disbelief to publicly put it out on twitter about PM being the “love of her life” just to defend that idea? Why does it not seem like her at all? Why do I feel making a joke or being sarcastic about it would fit her more?
Is her SM being totally under control?
Maybe the penis and yoni of the day (along with Nelson) are one of the rare outlets right now, even that being some pre-approved idea for having it seem like she’s being her regular self, cause that’s something that we know fits her character.
But when you think about it, it is still a mini subtle commercial for SexEd. Which I love, yet...Netflix. Again.
Also, the constant mentioning of Netflix along with PM in her stories, desperately trying to fit him somewhere. Like the “what do you eat during quarantine” and bam: “when me and Pete hosted a dinner we froze a chocolate cake...” Riiight. Is it just me, or does it seem like trying way too hard?
Which makes me think of all the contrary. If we go back to the past Gillovny fuckery...“he’s in the shower” and “I’m with schmoopie” shirts and “chewie’s girlfriend” and the twitter saga. What if it was intentionally done that way to make people think “what if”, but obviously take it as a joke, because of course that’s what it is. But was it? Maybe they just knew no one would truly buy it so they could play around for a little bit and actually be a couple for a minute, make out on Kimmel and fuck around on twitter. Propaganda? Maybe.
Some truth in that? God damn it, almost feels like it. Sure felt way more natural, sexy and loving than any of the stuff going on today.
What if we hate MP for no reason, what if she’s just truly a fucking assistant, a help and nothing but it. What if G hugged her after the play in London out of gratitude, because she’s just a prop they need to act this shit out. What if it’s all a big shitshow, but a shitshow nonetheless.
What if I will say the silliest shit of all time and boldly assume...that behind all of this which we do not understand, D&G are still together and fine. What if it was meant to feel like the end to us. But they are there, in secret, because it’s somehow better for them, because they prefer it that way.
What if the shoe pic of “working from home in my Dune London shoes” a day prior to his 60th birthday is just another way to turn people away from that idea and subtly make them not even question anything, while in reality she is with him, somewhere, celebrating his 60th birthday. And things are much brighter for them than what they seem.
I might be so wrong, so off. But something is going on in the background and there are way too many things I do not buy.
Also, it was honestly more probable to me that they were once together, but fell apart somewhere along the way, I believed that and it totally seemed like a probable scenario.
Until the very subtle, yet interesting stuff that have been going on made me question it again, maybe it’s silly, but when I connect the dots, like the constant bracelet wearing, the talking about a partner and not mentioning the name, but referencing stuff that feel completely Gillovny, aging with someone, long distance shit, random people still stating “they have been together for a while now, nice surprise”. Maybe it’s a load of bullshit, but it also just makes it seem like he still might be there, somewhere, after all.
How the hell did I end up here? I ask myself this constantly. I still have no idea.
Yes, it is so fucking crazy. But this is where I leave this at.

Still thinking about that names post from earlier so here’s some Name Lore for Anna and for Gozukk’s tribe:
Anna informed me of her name. I realized around chapter 6 that there could be vague parallels to The King And I/Anna and the King of Siam, which I’m not best pleased by, but it was too late by then and also it IS her name. Kind of. It’s actually a shortening of her full name, which is elvish, but she stopped using the whole/real thing to seem more human. Her unshortened name will be revealed eventually, and I know exactly how but don’t yet know when because oh man I keep getting surprised. Unclear if she’ll start using her full name or take a new nickname, but right now it feels unlikely? Azzor will be calling her Gmeling for the rest of her natural-born life, but it is not yet clear if this nickname will be used by anyone else.
The orc tribe has a particular naming convention whereby syllables are added as a person ages. Orcs age a little faster than humans, but not so fast that when they get their second syllable some time between 10 and 12, they count as full adults. Rather, the second syllable is an indication that the child has proven themself to be responsible and mature. Young people with 2 syllables have already been working (in a chores/pitching in/all hands needed way, not a 9-to-5/child labor way) but once they are accepted as mature, they start learning about specific roles they might take and the specific training those roles might require. They are trusted to make their own decisions about where their skills are most useful, what they can do on their own and what they need help with, and how to collaborate and prioritize activities with other people.
Obviously, these are tricky skills to learn, but 2-syllable kids get to start taking more responsibility for themselves and having more autonomy as they grow toward adulthood. They are also included in whole-tribe discussions and decisions, which aren’t terribly common but are generally quite important. A 12-year-old’s opinion won’t carry as much weight as a 30-year-old experienced tracker’s (etc) but they’re considered mature enough to be present and included. The second syllable name itself is chosen by the child, but in collaboration with parents, siblings, close friends, and mentors. It’s not uncommon for kids on the cusp of coming of age to be trying out new names in half-whispers and/or in intimate spaces with just the people they’re closest to.
3rd syllables are reserved only for elders, and they generally take their third syllable in their 60th year. Between the challenges of their environment and the ever-present danger that they might be attacked by neighboring groups who fear them or travelers who hate them, most orcs hope but don’t assume that they’ll live to see their third syllable (it’s a thing they think about as happening someday, but not a thing they plan for like people plan ahead for retirement). The claiming of a third syllable is accompanied by an extensive celebration of the person’s life, accomplishments, and character, but also by a reaffirmation of the tribe’s responsibilities toward each other. The new elder promises to provide wise council and to help teach the young and pass on their knowledge. The rest of the community promises to care for them and support them for the rest of their lives, in honor of what they have done and will do, and in honor of the love that binds them. (They would take care of them anyway but sometimes you just have to say these things aloud.)
The three-syllable name is generally chosen only by the elder themself, but it’s also sometimes a collaborative process with particularly close friends. If Azzor and Gozzuk and/or the twins make it to age 60 together, they’re likely to collaborate in their choices, which is always a sign of a particularly bangin’ party to come when their birth season rolls around.
Final major subpoint, Djaana’s name came to me whole cloth, which was quite irritating because it 1) is not dissimilar from Anna, and 2) starts with a sound that we kind of do and kind of do not use in English, the only language I speak with any fluency. Thanks, Djaana? It’s one of those sounds that some other languages make distinctions about, but I don’t know which languages and English just slaps a j or g on and moves on. One of them middle-of-the-mouth affricates or maybe fricatives that I know some folks have more of in their language than me but other folks have fewer of and I have no idea who for either category.
As far as the kids’ generation goes, Jak’s bestie Emve is two years older and got his second syllable quite early. Jak’s looking likely to be a late name-bloomer. The “twins” got their second syllables a little over a year apart from each other, and there’s just… a lot there. Enz was not thrilled to be behind her cousin, but she had a lot of other things going on, too, and it was just… a lot. Unclear how much of that time will come up in conversation and how much won’t, but maybe I’ll write something at some point. Mel is just a babe and nobody knows yet, nor will for a while.
(Ok fine one more note/point:)
(Generally feminine names end in a vowel and masculine names in a consonant, but that only applies with two or more syllables, and there are a handful of sounds that are like… IS it a consonant or a vowel?? Could be both?? Like sure it’s a consonant but it’s not THAT consonanty and anyway nobody’s keeping score, they can pick what they want to pick. It’s a convention/general habit and not a rule)
(They have symbols for almost-but-not-quite-an-n and almost-but-not-quite-an-r that are popular not-fully-traditional choices for name endings)
(Also don’t think too hard about how Djaana’s name worked when she was younger, I don’t know and I won’t work it out probably? The syllable thing started emerging/developing after a few characters already had names so it’s not perfect. But it’s also flexible enough as a system to accommodate. Jak could put the Jak part at the start or end and if Mel wanted to add to the front but she both felt strongly girl and wanted to be traditional, her name could just end “-me”)

uhm does it get annoying if people keep asking about your hcs? if not, I've read that you said you have some on Brutus and Valeria, could you write about that? x thank u xx
Not at all! I love talking and sharing hc, I also like it when people tell me theirs! Sometimes I take more time answering asks because I’m busy doing something else or It’s going to be a long answer and I prefer to do that from computer since on my tablet the corrector keeps trying to turn every word French ;) (like this one, so sorry for mistakes) so sometimes I keep the ask until the next morning or something like that.
About Brutus and Valeria... Well I hc that Brutus is married to a woman named Livia but he’s a bit of a womanizer and doesn’t really hide it (aside from the appointments and side victor market). Before Val, he was already sleeping around. I have this oc, Stella, who is Four’s victor from around the 55th/60th (I don’t have my notebook with me and I don’t remember if I ever gave her a specific year but it should be in those waters) and I hc they have a torrid love affair at some point around her victory. It doesnt last long because he gets married (a huge televised thing) but it does happen on and off after that for a few years until she stops mentoring regularly. He keeps having affairs left and right though but more discreetly because his wife understandably doesn’t like being made a fool in front of the whole country.
After Val, he calms down a bit on the whole « sleep with everything that moves » front because she softens him. I wouldn’t say he’s in love with her necessarily but they have a deep bond. They’ve been together a while by the time canon rolls around.
As for Valeria, at first she goes in knowing Brutus is a player and I absolutely think she does it for bragging right because he’s popular and handsome and probably much sought after. I don’t think either of them expected the connection to last but last it does, to the point it’s probably the worst kept secret in the Games business (even worse than hayffie). I think it’s genuine too. That at first they were simply attracted to each other physically and that they didn’t expect to find more than that. Unlike hayffie who have this sort of immediate witt battle and this urge to prove they’re better than the other, there’s simply a honest attraction that develops into more. Maybe Brutus doesn’t expect her to have a brain and Valeria doesn’t expect him to be more than muscles and they end up seeing past that and building a true friendship that surely turns to affection and maybe tentative love.
Valeria is probably less soft-hearted than Effie though, she’s more pragmatic and there’s no question that Brutus will ever leave his wife or that there will be a happy ending so she’s probably very careful not to fall into a trap of expecting more or of getting attached beyond reason. The relationship is an open one by mutual agreement... That doesn’t mean she doesn’t hate Livia and, let’s face it, it’s very mutual. Now Livia if she ever was in love with Brutus it was a fleeting infatuation. She saw the victor and the life she could get, the fame, the safety, the certainty she or any of her potential children would never lack anything... For Brutus I think maybe she was a childhood friend and at the time he got married he probably needed the publicity because other newer victors had come to steal a bit of his glory and he wanted the spotlight back... Despite the cheating though he does take his vows seriously. Maybe he has more feelings for Val than he does for Livia but there’s no question who his loyalty would go to if need arose because that’s the District way. Brutus doesn’t have kids in my hc though he and Livia tried for a long time.
He can be pretty ruthless and he’s not a guy you want to fight because he takes competition seriously. If he plays, he plays to win. He sees the Games in very plain terms and there’s no close friend he won’t betray to win or get his tributes to the finish line. Enobaria was one of them and he loves her, not like a daughter but really like a favorite student of sort, he considers her family and they’re a redoutable teams hat Val complements perfectly. The three of them have their set ways of working sponsors, of training tributes and of playing the game. Nothing is off the table.
I realize I also have an escort oc named Livia so not to confuse the two. The escort is 6’s and she’s the one who showed Effie the ropes and she leaves around the 65th/67th HG. She’s moonlights as one of Plutarch’s agents and Chaff had a crush on her and that’s the ship that never was lmao but yeah Livia from Two is Brutus’ wife but she doesn’t come up a lot. Probably I should have changed her name but that’s the one I chose in Human Tokens and since she doesn’t come up a lot it stayed. Livia the escort dates from Invictus so probably posterior to Livia the wife... I guess you can tell I really live that name.

Doctor Who Hiatusbreaker Update 2
Although the premiere of Doctor Who Series 13 is still a while off, let alone the announcement of a premiere date, there are a few things I’d like to talk about before that time comes. Let’s get right into it.
Filler series plans to talk about Series 1-10
Some time ago, I had plans to make a ten-part series talking about Series 1-10 in detail, but because I had a lot of stuff going on, those plans were reduced to something I call Doctor Who 10 for 10 - 10 Things for 10 Series, which was to state ten things about each series with at least 4 to 6 of these things being my opinions on each series. This was intended to be a filler series to bide the time before Series 13 comes out, but that may have to come at another time. I’m also continuing with Kisekae Insights if anyone wants to check it out.
The post-Series 13 forecast
Since Series 13 would be Jodie Whittaker’s third series as the Doctor, signs are pointing to this being her final series. There are also rumours stating that there will be two specials in 2022 that would serve as her final episodes. If this is the case, then it means that Jodie Whittaker would have been the Doctor for five years; a five-year-long ordeal of pain because series seem to be released pretty much every other year as a result of the almost-year-long gaps between them, not to mention the fact that less episodes are being produced as time goes on. Whether Chris Chibnall will be remaining on is still unknown at this time. Frankly, I’ll be glad when this is all over because I (and many other fans) have been kept hanging for so long. I just hope the Timeless Child payoff will be worth it.
At this point, the only reason why I’m still watching the series is mainly because I want to know how the Timeless Child arc plays out. The initial shocks have come and gone, but now this is where we wait and see if the aftershocks are as worse.
When I started my Thirteenth Doctor Reviews, I made a pact that I would cut off all ties with the series going forward if the Fourteenth Doctor was another female. Given the Timeless Child arc and the rumours that Olly Alexander would replace Jodie Whittaker (which would make him the first gay actor to play the Doctor) that came and went because his agent stated that he was focusing on music for the time being, I’ve honestly stopped giving a shit at this point. I’ll probably continue being a casual fan of Doctor Who, watching episodes as they come out, but regardless, all that this series will be to me is like what the Koei Warriors series has degraded itself to over the past decade. I’ll still be grateful for all the inspiration and opportunities it has provided me with over the years, but I’ll probably accept that the series has gone on a downward spiral with seemingly no way of coming back up. But hey, all will be revealed in due time, so the forecast isn’t that bleak for now.
The first look into Series 13 (added 26 July 2021)
So just today, two days after I originally published this post, the teaser trailer for Doctor Who Series 13 was released following the 2021 San Diego Comic Con@Home. Aside from the Doctor, Yaz and Dan, the only other character we see is Vinder, a recurring character throughout the series who will be played by Jacob Anderson. Recurring character, you say, and that’s because Series 13 will apparently be a single serialised story. This brings callbacks to The Trial of a Time Lord or more loosely, the multiple two-parters of Series 9. We still don’t get an exact premiere date, only that it will premiere “later this year”, but given that Series 11 and 12 took about 10 months to film, we can predict that filming of Series 13 will likely be wrapping up in the next month. Whether there will be a shorter run of five or six episodes (thereby reserving two of those episodes for the 2022 specials, assuming they won’t be filmed separately to Series 13) is unknown, but regardless, I’m looking forward to watching and reviewing the series for myself.
Jodie Whittaker and Chris Chibnall leave Doctor Who (added 30 July 2021)
In news that will surprise no one, Jodie Whittaker and Chris Chibnall have announced that they will be leaving the series in 2022. Technically, the news isn’t much of a surprise in terms of Whittaker than it is for Chibnall, as Russell T Davies and Steven Moffat have been showrunner for two Doctors each. But hey, with this, it means that my Thirteenth Doctor Reviews will also be a review of Chibnall’s run as showrunner.
My initial thoughts on this, which may or may not change coming up to Whittaker’s final episode - it was an okay run while it lasted, but honestly, good riddance. How’s that five year plan of yours going, Chibnall? If your plan was to divide the fanbase and leave them hanging with gaps between series, then you’ve really done it.
On top of this, Series 13 will be six episodes long, with the remaining two episodes to be broadcast as specials in 2022. The first of them will be a New Year’s Special (surprise surprise) and the second will follow in Spring 2022 (Northern Hemisphere). The Thirteenth Doctor’s final episode will premiere in Autumn 2022 (Northern Hemisphere) as part of the BBC’s Centenary celebrations. Some tentative dates I’m predicting are 18 October 2022, the 100th anniversary of the BBC, 23 November 2022, the 59th anniversary of Doctor Who, or 1 January 2023, which would make it another New Year’s Special (I’m not discounting 25 December 2022, I just think it’s less likely given how this era has been).
With this, the Fourteenth Doctor is expected to debut in 2023, the 60th anniversary year of Doctor Who. I just hope the new production team doesn’t disappoint the fans with that.
In terms of statistics, Jodie Whittaker has played the Doctor for 31 episodes, making her run the second shortest behind Christopher Eccleston. Peter Capaldi played the Doctor for 40 episodes, Matt Smith for 44 episodes and David Tennant for 47.
My hopes for Whittaker and Chibnall’s final episodes haven’t changed; I want to see what happens with the Timeless Child arc (and also Ruth). Whether the Fourteenth Doctor will be male or female (or played by a non-binary or trans actor), I have a few basic preliminary hopes for the next run; make each series 13 episodes again with a Christmas Special each year and put the series back on Saturday nights, like it was before Whittaker and Chibnall. Also, can we go back to filming in the 16:9 ratio? I can never get over how weird it looks on my screen (at full screen, it doesn’t look so weird when I have it playing on half screen, which is what I usually do when I write my reviews).
Jay Exci - The Fall of Doctor Who
Yes, it has been a while and I know I could have told everyone about this earlier, but better late than never I suppose. A couple of months ago, Jay Exci did a 5-hour long critique of the Chibnall era in his video, The Fall of Doctor Who. For some reason, there are those who see it as controversial because they’re NPCs who don’t want to hear criticism of the Chibnall era or they’re spergs who aren’t mature enough to sit through a 5-hour video they can watch in chunks, but hey, it’s pretty good. This is more in-depth than the reviews that people like Bowlestrek or Nerdrotic make, which essentially put Jay on their level in the eyes of the NPCs despite denying that they are on their level and being a sperg about how they’re better than them. Welcome to the party, Jay, you can check out anytime but you can never leave.
Anyway, you can check out the video below. Even if you don’t feel like watching the whole video, I highly suggest that you watch section 4.2 onwards (timestamped link here) as it does resonate with my feelings on the Timeless Child arc. I swear, this is just like Dynasty Warriors 9 all over again. I know the feeling.

Cancel culture comes for Noel Clarke and John Barrowman
The thing about cancel culture is that people can be petty about things other people have done or said years ago and they can justify it with the excuse that they’re doing it to hold those people accountable. Depending on the context, it can expose the fact that that person is a major piece of shit or it can be an overreaction to something, which in the minds of today’s society is normally the latter.
Around the time that Noel Clarke was nominated for a Bafta at the end of March, allegations emerged of abuse and sexual misconduct against him. 20 women came forward with their stories and as a result, the final episode of Viewpoint was pulled from broadcast (but still released on Blu-ray and DVD) and Bulletproof was cancelled before filming on the fourth series would begin.
In May, video emerged of Clarke at Chicago TARDIS in 2014 talking about how John Barrowman would expose his genitals and slap it on people and things. This led to allegations about Barrowman surfacing, resulting in him apologising for his actions even though he had already been reprimanded for them over a decade ago and apologised in November 2008. Despite this, his contribution to the immersive theatrical event Doctor Who: Time Fracture was pulled and Big Finish have decided to shelf the release of Torchwood: Absent Friends, which would have featured David Tennant as the Tenth Doctor.
Now, I don’t care about Noel Clarke by any means, but this situation is honestly sad for John Barrowman because it shows that cancel culture spares no victims and leaves no fossil undiscovered. These PR stunts have clearly shown that the spineless people involved with those productions are so concerned with saving face that they are unable to just overlook these transgressions for the sake of fans who actually wanted to see him reprise his role as Captain Jack Harkness. But hey, what do I know? I don’t really care for anything other than the TV series, but it really shows how shameless corporations can be.
Once again, we don’t exactly know when Doctor Who Series 13 will premiere, but if you ask me, I predict that it will premiere in October or November. I’ll see you all again around that time.

Youjitsu for somehow
Vol 4,5 2nd
“Whoa, that’s a lot of people.” Sure enough, the rest area near the fitness gym where the exam results were being disclosed was packed with many students. Near the monitor, there was a large sign that read, “Photography is strictly prohibited,” and two adults who seemed to be in relation with Tsukishiro were keeping a close eye on the students. The rankings and scores were displayed on a list of monitors, which seemed to be scrolling automatically. Right now, it’s showing the 50th to 60th place group members and their scores. “Nn......?” There was an inexplicable feeling of discomfort that I suddenly felt all over my body. What is it? The cause of this feeling is not immediately apparent, and I feel a kind of unspeakable weirdness. “I was going to take my time to look at the results, but I don’t think I can concentrate at all with this.” Ishizaki doesn’t notice that uncomfortable feeling, but he looks at the monitor and mutters in disgust. “It can’t be helped. I’m sure a lot of people would have liked to know the detailed results of the uninhabited island test.” Clicking his tongue in frustration, Ishizaki had no choice but to stare at the results from his spot. Although he has a bold personality, it seems that he can’t push his seniors to the front. One of the third-year students reached out and began to operate the monitor, which was an auto-scrolling monitor, but could be fixed by touching it with his hand and viewing the rankings at will. So, it was unlikely that Ishizaki would be able to see the top results he wanted to see any time soon. “What do we do now?” Even if he waited like this for a while, it would be a while before his turn came around. “I’m curious, but let’s not overdo it. It’s something we can look at later.” That’s what I said a few minutes ago... Well, as long as he understood, I guess. “By the way, do you notice anything?” “Huh? What?” Ishizaki, who was about to turn back, didn’t seem to notice anything. This strange atmosphere. The large number of gazes directed at me. It’s not something that can be put away as mere imagination. It’s not that Ishizaki next to me is dull and unaware of it. They simply aren’t watching Ishizaki. They’re only watching me. They are watching my every move with an obvious intent that they aren’t even trying to hide. All of the students watching us had one thing in common: they were all third-year students. I don’t know the details yet, but I’m pretty sure that Nagumo is involved in this. Has the case that I put off on the uninhabited island exam returned today? “What’s wrong?” Apparently, I was so lost in thought that Ishizaki was worried about me. “No, it’s nothing. It seems that other students are coming to see the results one after another, so let’s turn back.” “Alright, no problem.” I had imagined that Nagumo would set something up sooner or later, but this is a bit tricky. It would have been much easier if Nagumo had come directly to us and set something in motion. He made the first move that I didn’t want to be made. “Hey, you haven’t had lunch yet, right? Let’s eat together.” “Huh? Yeah, I haven’t eaten yet...” I started to walk away, but the third-year students didn’t seem to be following me. It seems that they were only looking at me. Either way, it’s extremely disturbing to be persistently gazed at. “What’s wrong with you? You don’t want to have dinner with me? That’s kind of rude.” “No, that’s not it. I was just thinking about something unrelated.” I knew I couldn’t involve Ishizaki in a bad way, but if they didn’t follow me, I guess it was okay. “It’s also rude to be thinking about unrelated things.” That was certainly true. Let’s just forget about the third year for now. “Are you sure it’s okay with me?” “It’s fine, we’re just going to have dinner together.” I can’t deny that I feel the pressure, but it doesn’t mean that I feel bad. I just can’t get over the fact that Ishizaki is treating me as a friend. “I don’t know if I’ve said this before, but I’m not asking you out like this because I want to bring you into my class. It’s because I like you as a
friend.” Without hesitation, Ishizaki uttered a line that made my teeth stand on end. But then, as if he realized something, he hurriedly turned around. “...are you being bothering by me by any chance?” “No, not at all.” “Right!” For a moment, Ishizaki looked as if he suspected that his actions were selfish, but he soon laughed it off. Well, I knew that he had this kind of personality. It’s not that I feel bad about it, so I guess I’ll follow Ishizaki. As the two of us left the place and began to move, we heard footsteps coming from behind us, running towards us. “Ayanokōji-senpai!” The owner of the footsteps was Nanase, who had been working with me throughout the first half of the uninhabited island exam. “So senpai came to see the exam results too?” “Yeah. But I’m not likely to be able to look at them slowly, so I gave up.” “I see. The third-years are all working on the monitors now, and it’s going to be a little while before we juniors can freely view them.” It seems that Nanase also wanted to know the details of the results, but she gave up. Ishizaki was looking at our exchange curiously. Come to think of it, Ishizaki didn’t know Nanase directly, did he? “Oh, hey Ayanokoji. When did you get to know such a cute and adorable girl?” “A lot of things have happened.” It’s very troublesome to explain everything from scratch, so I told him so in summary. “Hey, you’re not going to tell me you’re going out with your junior, are you?” “That’s too much of a leap, it’s just a relationship between a senior and a junior.” It was unusual for me to be confronted with this kind of thing. I thought Ishizaki was not deeply interested in heterosexual issues, but apparently not so much. “Do you want something from me?” I said turning towards Nanase. “No, I just felt like talking to you when I saw you.” Her straightforward eyes shine, and she says without hesitation something that might make me feel somewhat embarrassed. “I’m sorry to bother you. Excuse me!” I thought she was approaching me at a short run, but he was going somewhere else at a short run again. The inside of the ship is the same as the corridor, and I don’t think it’s a good place to run, but I guess it’s alright if she was careful. “That was a cute girl. And that thing was pretty cool too.” I don’t know what he meant by “thing” but I’ll ignore it. “You’re not really going out with her, are you?” “No, we’re not dating.” I don’t want to cause a misunderstanding and expand the conversation. So once again, I firmly denied it to Ishizaki in the form of a reminder. 2 When I came back to my room after dinner with Ishizaki, I found Ike standing in front of my room. He was looking at his cell phone restlessly, but when he looked up and looked left and right, our eyes met. “Oh, Ayanokōji! Thank God, I’ve been waiting for you!” Ike was waiting for me? Yet another unexpected turn of events. “Actually, I was thinking of going to visit Komiya now, and I was wondering if you wanted to join me.” Ike said as he approached me and leaned in to lend me an ear. “Me...?” “Well you see... I’m just a little uncomfortable going alone.” “Why?” “Why? I mean, you know. I’m... going out with Shinohara. After the exam, on the way back to the ship, there was a time when we were alone, and...” It seems that he confessed his feelings to her, and Shinohara gave him the okay. I had thought that it might progress, but it exceeded my expectations. “Well, congratulations.” I congratulated him honestly, and he looked away from me like he was telegraphing. “Oh, thank you. But from ...... From Komiya's point of view, I think I might have cheated.” “I don’t think so, though.” “No, I don’t think it’s fair. It’s like... playing dirty.” It is true that Komiya had to retire from the desert island test early because of some suspicious behavior. It’s not that you can’t use the term “sneaky” to describe it, but anyone can say that. It seems that Komiya was planning to confess to Shinohara during this exam. “I was really thinking of waiting until after Komiya’s injury was healed, you know? But when I was relieved that
the exam was over, and Shinohara’s guy was beside me..., I felt like I didn’t want to give her to Komiya...” It seems that he confessed to her without thinking. Of course, there was also the risk of being rejected. If that had happened, it would have made things even more awkward after Komiya and Shinohara got together. “That’s why I felt I had to properly report it to Komiya. Man, to man. If he was also planning to confess to Shinohara, it would be complicated, right?” “If you didn’t make the first move, you would have been in trouble if Shinohara decided to go for Komiya after all.” “Ehhh?! Why are you saying that...?” Ike was upset as he exaggeratedly flinched. Half of him wanted to give a report, and the other half wanted to stop him from confessing. “You’re prepared to get hit at least once, aren’t you?” “What? I’m going to get hit?!” “Wouldn’t you do that if the person you love was snatched from your side?” Ike looked frightened, as if he got scared from imagining it. Komiya isn’t a big guy, but he’s a basketball player. Ike, on the other hand, is small for a boy, so I’d say there’s enough of a size difference. “Well, he has a dubious leg injury right now, and can’t really walk. He can’t hurt you that much.” “Yeah, that ain’t the problem, but..., I’ll be ready.” He seemed to have made up his mind to some extent, so I had no reason to oppose him. I had been wondering about Komiya’s condition, and this seemed like a good opportunity. “I heard that Komiya is still sleeping in the infirmary.” “I’m sure he’s having a hard time in the cabins.” No wonder he spends most of his holidays in the doctor’s office. Ike and I arrive in front of the infirmary. Ike took a deep breath to calm himself down. There was no point in rushing inside, so he waited quietly, and then a loud laugh came from inside. “Hey, what’s that? Let’s go in.” Surprised by the unexpected laughter, Ike opened the door and entered the doctor’s office, unprepared. He was then surrounded by Komiya, who was sitting up, and several of his classmates, including Ryūen, Albert, Kaneda, Kondō, and Yamawaki. Even though someone outside of the class showed up, Ryūen didn’t give us a second glance and stood up. “Sorry for the interruption, Komiya.” As if the conversation was over, Ryūen left the infirmary with his friends. I looked at Ryūen lightly, but he didn’t even give me a glance. “You’re still as scary as ever, Ryūen... I mean, what did he want?” Ike, on the other hand, mumbled to himself as if he couldn’t look directly at Ryūen. It was the first time I’ve ever seen such a thing. “Well, he is powerful, isn’t he? He was just visiting me.” Replied Komiya from the bed. On a small table placed near the head of the bed, there were some sweets and juice that seemed to have been brought in. “Oh, so he was visiting you... He doesn’t seem like the kind of guy who would do something like that.” Ike said what he honestly felt, and Komiya agreed with him. “If it was this time last year, well, it would be unthinkable.” Komiya smiled in nostalgia as he recalled a year ago. “But something’s changed a bit within Ryūen-san. It’s not as if he’s become well rounded though...” Komiya said, somewhat confused but happy. I’m not sure what to make of it, but I think it’s a good thing. It was no wonder that most of his classmates had a strong rejection in their hearts. “I think I can get along with that guy now.” “Follow Ryūen...? I don’t get it.” Ike’s body trembled exaggeratedly as he didn’t seem to understand at all when he asked. “Ike and Ayanokōji, don’t just stand there, please sit down.” Komiya gently welcomed us, even though we were students from the other classes and encouraged us to sit down without hesitation. We took him up on his words and sat down together in the chairs. “You look fine.” Looking at the fixed leg, I check Komiya’s condition. “As you can see, I’m fine except for my legs. But it’s frustrating to think that everyone else is playing around while I’m stuck behind the door, so I hope I get better soon.” “When will you be able to go out?” “I’m going to ask for
permission to go out with my crutches and cane.” They are rivals in love, but surprisingly, the two of them are able to talk on their own. I guess my presence was a bit superfluous. “I’m just a little worried about...” “Worried? With what?” Ike, who was sitting facing away from the chair, put his arm on the backrest and asked Komiya. “Well... it seems like Ryūen is planning to find out who pushed me off. He asked me a lot of questions to see if I remembered anything. Like I told Ayanokōji, I don’t remember being attacked or anything at all.” There didn’t seem to be any difference to his memory since then. Right now, Ryūen’s class is gaining momentum day by day, and it’s time to focus on the sophomore battle to get to Class A. Of course, the same could be said for our class, but we shouldn’t go too deep into this one. If Amasawa, another White Room student, or someone related to Tsukishiro were involved, there was no guarantee that even Ryūen would be safe. “I hope I didn’t overdo it....” “It looks like Ryūen’s going to kill the culprit half to death, right?” For the two of them, there was no way they could envision a vision of Ryūen getting hit. Instead, it was natural for them to worry more about the culprit. “So? It’s not like you’re just here to visit me, is it?” As if he had sensed something, Komiya asked Ike that. At that moment, Ike stiffened as if surprised. “Oh no... Well I...” Perhaps he wasn’t ready yet, but he choked on his words. Seeing this, Komiya waited for his words with a serious face, without prompting. The atmosphere of a place can change visibly in an instant. “Ike. I don’t know what you’re going to say, but if it’s important, look me in the eye and say it.” He must have guessed what he was about to say. Still, Komiya pretended not to know and only urged Ike to speak clearly. It was hard to believe that Ike had noticed Komiya’s suggestion, but he must have felt it as men do. He slapped himself on both cheeks, forcing himself to wake up. “I confessed to Shinohara!” A determined Ike tells him in a simple but loud voice. Silence came immediately afterwards and I found Ike swallowing heavily next to me. “So? What was Satsuki’s response?” “She gave me the okay. We’re going out now.” “I see...” Ike continued to stare at Komiya’s face without averting his gaze as he answered shortly. As he had mentioned earlier, he was scared that Komiya would retaliate out of anger. He could even pop out a surprise shot, or so he thought. “Did you think I was going to hit you?” “Huh?” “It’s written all over your face that you might hit me.” “No, it doesn’t... well, yeah for a second.” “Well, then you’re ready. I can’t move right now, so why don’t you come over here?” The look on Komiya’s face as he demanded to come over did not reveal his true intentions. But from the power of his words, Ike seemed to have made up his mind. He stood right beside Komiya, frightened and frightened. Immediately after, Komiya’s right arm reached out and grabbed Ike’s shoulder. “Ah!” Komiya raised his aching body to the limit and looked into Ike’s eyes. “If you ever make Satsuki cry, I won’t forgive you.” He said, lightly pressing his left fist against Ike’s chest. “That’s all Komiya...?” Komiya Miya’s devilish expression changed to a smile. “Nah, don’t give me that pushy look. Satsuki chose you, that’s all, isn’t it?” “But ...... if you hadn’t been removed from the exam, it might have been the other way around. ......” “I’m sorry, but I don’t think so. I don’t think it was a quick win for me. Just...” “Just?” “If you hadn’t confronted Satsuki and stayed away, I might have had a chance.” Komiya was right. I don’t think it really mattered whether he confessed first or later. He had an accident where he was seriously injured, and Ike happened to be nearby, which created a connection and gave him a big boost, and because of that, he was able to face Shinohara. Without a doubt, this was the most important factor in their relationship. If Komiya hadn’t been injured, if Ike hadn’t been by his side at that time, if either of them had followed a
different fate, it might have been Komiya who would have been next to Shinohara. “In that sense, this injury was just unlucky.” It wasn’t a fulfillment of love, but Komiya seemed to be in the clear. “Thanks, Komiya.” “Study hard, okay? Satsuki... No, Shinohara was worried about that too, you know.” “Yeah, I know. I can’t afford to be expelled from school now.” This love affair could have been a pivotal turning point for Ike. It gave him the opportunity to struggle for himself and for the people he loves, just like Sudō. At last, the report from Ike and the exchange with Komiya settled down. “I’m sorry, Ike, but can I have a word with Ayanokōji alone for a moment? There’s something I need to go over with you about my injury.” “Alright, see you later Komiya. Ayanokōji too.” Ike said goodbye to us and left the room without hesitation. Once the two of us were alone, Komiya spoke up. “Sorry about that. Didn’t Ike ask you to come only to help him?” “No, I came because I was wondering about your condition too. It was more like I interfered.” “That’s not true. I don’t know what... is this right?” “Hmm?” “Me and you guys are in different classes and we’re fighting each other, but we’ve started talking normally. It’s like that kind of thing is fading away. Last year, things were pretty bleak.” If you’re in a different class, you’re supposed to be beating and trying to kick the other down. There are not many advantages to getting along with them, except for strategy. “The uninhabited island exam was a competition between different grades, and we’ve been in the same school for a long time, isn’t that how it is?” “Hmm, maybe.” It was obvious that this was a preliminary chat, and there should be a main topic beyond that. “I mentioned a little bit earlier about the situation with Ryūen-san.” “You said it sounded like he was trying to find the culprit.” “I’m against it. To be honest, I’d rather just say that this was an accident caused by my own mistake.” “But Shinohara has actually seen the existence of the person who attacked you guys.” “I know. But I have a bad feeling about this, and I have a feeling it won’t end well.” Maybe it was because he had been attacked that he felt the danger firsthand. “Can Ayanokōji keep an eye out for that too, even if it’s just for a little while?” “I don’t think there’s anything I can do about it.” “I’m not expecting you to do anything about it directly. If you feel uncomfortable, let me know.” He asked me with a strong gaze. We’ll exchange contact information formally so that we can always be in touch. “Okay, for now, you should focus on healing your injuries as soon as possible.” Resting is the only shortcut to a full recovery. “Thanks, man. Yeah, let me thank you sometime if you want. And give a shout out to the other guys who helped me.” “I think they’ll be glad to hear it. Ike might even let Shinohara be there.” “I don’t want to do that. I think I’d cry if I had to see the two of them making out with each other.” Komiya smiled bitterly, but he was more heartbroken than he looked. It was a mistake to include her name, even if it was simply a tease. Anyway, it’s not a good thing to be injured, but I feel like I’m a little closer to Komiya now. “See you later, Ayanokōji.” “Yeah.” After saying goodbye and leaving the doctor’s office, I suddenly had a strange feeling. My classmates Sudō and Ike, and the rest of the class. Ishizaki and Komiya. Little by little, the number of people around me that I can call my friends is starting to increase. It’s not that I’ve been trying to make friends, but it’s happening. “How to make friends is not something you can put in a textbook.” I thought to myself.

Warning(s): Blood, Violence, Fluff, Poly!Relationship, mature content, and swearing, etc.
--
You all were climbing the stairs, the footsteps of you and your classmates echoing through the halls as you rushed passed the giant floor numbers. Passing by Level 20, you all turned the corner and proceeded to climb, progressing to the 30th floor after running nonstop.
You all paused as you stopped at the large printed numbers, 30, you turned towards Melissa, who was the last to appear at the end of the steps. "Melissa, how many floors are there?" Iida questioned as he and Izuku stopped next to you.
"We need to get to the 200th floor!" She huffed out, panting in slight exhaustion.
Your eye's widened slightly, Kaminari and Mineta gapped almost in horror, "There's what?" Kaminari questioned.
"That's way too many stairs!" Mineta groaned.
Momo shook her head, "But it's way better than running into the villains!"
You all nodded before continuing, you ran beside Shouto and Izuku, you all panting slightly, yet determined to keep going as you passed the next few floors. Passing by the 40th, 50th, 60th, all the way to the 80th floor, where you skidded to a stop as you found the stairwell blocked by a metal barrier. Iida stops next to you before frowning, "It's blocked!" Everyone comes up to see, panting. God, you hated stairs.
"What should we do, break through it?" Shouto suggested.
Melissa stared at the emergency precaution barrier, "If we did that, I'm sure the security system would alert the villains." She said.
You frowned before you turned as Mineta began to pull at an emergency door handle, "What about this one?" You gasped as he pulled it and opened it, alerting the system.
"Mineta!"
"No, don't!"
"Hold on!"
Of course you were all to late but, since you had no other option, you all had to keep going, so you all ran through the doorway and down the hall.
"Is there another way to go up?" Shouto questioned as we all ran, you glanced towards Melissa.
"There should be another emergency stair case at the end of the hall!"
You looked forwards as there was suddenly a loud sound and a few meters ahead, a metal barrier struck the ground, locking in place before it repeated a few meters closer. You gritted your teeth, "They're closing us off!" You said before you caught sight of a metal door a few feet away, but it was about to be blocked by a barrier.
"Shouto/Todoroki!"
He already understood and his ice spread like a wildfire, "I'm on it!" His ice quickly spreads and spears forwards, stopping the barrier from fully closing. You and Iida quickly jump over the opening before sprinting towards the closed doorway, it wouldn't open for us now but it would be no problem to break it down.
You brought up a charged fist, your power, however, charging through your legs as well, unwillingly, you didn't have time to worry though as you and Iida hit the metal doorway full force. With loud battle crys, you both blasted the doorway apart and skidded to a stop in the smoke. You looked around seeing the greenery around you suddenly, it was like a giant greenhouse, the glass windows surrounding the place we're locked from the outside. "This way everyone!" Iida called out to the group.
You could still feel the energy coursing through your legs, you winced slightly as you suddenly felt your heart throbbing. "Dammit..." you cursed silently, placing a hand over your heart with a soft pant, you had forgotten about taking your jewel with you. It helped you regulate the power flow of your quirk, but now that it was so messy and free, it let loose everytime you summoned it. Your chest clenched unwillingly, it didn't hurt so much now, but you had to remind yourself not to use your power as much now, without your power director with every use you'd be vulnerable to the pain that blossomed in your chest.
As Izuku and Shouto came through, they could see the pained look on your face as you placed a hand over your chest. They both understood immediately, having known of your condition for a while now. They both ran over to you, sharing worried looks, "(y/n) are you alright?" Shouto asked, his hand on your arm as Izuku took your hand.
"Are you ok? Does it hurt? You shouldn't use your power too much with out your converter, it's not safe!" He frowned, paling as you gave him a forced smile, straightening up, he could see the way your hand shook as you gave the both a thumbs up.
"It's ok. I'll be ok, don't worry," you looked between them both before everyone else came through the hole in the wall and you had to keep moving again. Shouto and Izuku shared a glance, frowning slightly together, before running after you.
As you all moved forwards, Jirou stopped and had a hand out, "Hold on!" You all stopped, "Look!" She pointed forwards where there was an elevator door, you could see the numbers climbing, you gasped. "The elevators coming up!"
"Don't tell me the villains found us!" Mineta paled.
You turned to look around, "We need to hide, before they get here!"
"We should let them pass! Quick, everybody!" Izuku ran over to a large bush for everyone to fit, we all squeezed together, you squatted down between the boys and watched as the elevator came to this floor.
It opened and you sank deeper down into the bush, you could feel everyone basically beginning to panic. You didn't want to have to fight anyone, you weren't even at the 100th floor yet, if you were delayed now, you may never get to the 200th floor. Please, they had to pass! Please don't see us!
"Of all places, they had to pick somewhere with a hiding spot," the villain groaned, walking forwards with his partner beside him. "Well they said the kids are here," the other one said.
You could hear them stomp down, once, "Hey!" You squeezed your lips together, "We see you! Damn kids!"
You felt Shouto's and Izuku's grip on your sides tense and you couldn't help your hands suddenly charging up with energy. Would you really have to face them?
"Whaddya say ya bastard?"
You gasped, perking up, your head coming above the bush alittle to see, it was Katsuki. And Kirishima. "What are you two doing here?" They were both face to face with the two villains, you noted their bullet proof vests and luckily lack of guns, they definitely had quirks if they were so confident to go against you all.
"Hmph! That's what I wanna know too!" Katsuki stepped forwards, obviously suspicious of the men.
You could see Katsuki sneering in disgust from here, but kirishima pulled him back, "Let me handle this!" Kirishima offered, seeing Katsuki about to explode. "Um, we kinda got lost looking for this party," he responded honestly, so they had no idea what was happening? "Can you, maybe, point us in the right direction?" How the hell do you get lost to a reception on the 80th floor, how the hell did they even get up here?
The taller villains hand suddenly enlarged, turning webbed and giant, something building inside of it. "Don't lie to me! Or you'll regret it!" He leaned forwards before hurling his attack straight for Kirishima.
Oh no.
"Hey, watch out!"
"Kirishima!"
There was a wave of ice before there was a purple wave wave of energy that combined itself with it, like a binding, it secured itself around the ice. Katsuki skids in front of it, stopping next to Kirishima who sat on the floor, shocked to have been attacked. "This is..." Katsuki turns towards you both, seeing your hands moving to bind your energy and Shouto still crouched down.
Katsuki immediately freezes upon seeing you, even once you put your hands down and sigh in relief as he's unharmed. That dress..you looked...amazing. He was freezing up again, his mouth running dry as his eye's run over your frame and capture your look. Your hair perfectly framing your beautiful face and that dress hugging you perfectly. Although you were sweaty and tired, you've never looked so hot or badass. God dammit, he loved you. "(Y/n)..." he breathes before grinning faintly as you both make eye contact. Your eye's brightening as you take in his outfit and the look on his face, you liked seeing him in formal wear, mostly because he never did it.
His grin hardly fades instantly as your hand goes to your chest, your eye's going wide as you're overcome by a sudden pain. Your eye's nearly get teary, you look away from him and grimace painfully as your heart throbs and your energy flickers through you. Katsuki couldn't help himself as he began running over to you, he knows what's happening, unfortunately he's seen it before. Your condition was no secret to him and that only made him worry more. "(Y/n)!" He called to you, you looked up at him, before you both heard a loud thud. Looking up, the ice behind your energized restraints began to break apart, you paled as, although they were struggling, they'd be out in no time.
Shouto acts quick, his hand going down to the ground once more to spread towards you and the group, "We'll take care of them down here! Find a way to get to the top!" He demands before you can stop him, you feel your shoes being stuck to the ice, glaring at Shouto you notice him make eye contact with you. You collapse to your knees.
"Shouto! Katsuki!" You shout, angry at Shouto for sending you up when you could've helped them. Although you knew you'd be more a hindrance between the three, with your power hurting you more than if was helping.
"(Y/n), we'll be fine! Icyhot, shitty hair and I've got this you were surprised to hear Katsuki reassuring you, he looked at you with urgency, his eyes worried for you. "We'll be up there after we deal with these assholes, ok! Wait for us! Don't do anything stupid with Deku over there!"
Your eye's widened before you nodded as the ice pillar became taller and taller, finally stopping by a walkway a few hundred feet off the ground.
"What's going on? You guys are here too?" Kirishima asked before walking closer to Shouto, confused km the situation. "What the hell going on, todoroki?"
He looks over at the two, 'You hadn't heard the broadcast alert?" This redheads confused look gives the answer away, "never mind then, some villains have taken over the tower!"
Bakugo and Kirishima look at him in shock, "What?!"
"That's what this is about?" Bakugo seethed, surprised.
That's when the villains finally broke through the ice and your barrier, a man, shorter than his friend walked out with his partner and angrily roared, "So, you wanna pick a fight huh?" He shook, turning his skin sickening, bruised purple and his body growing in size. "Let's see how touch you really are!" His clothes ripped and his large fists twice and big, ready to pummel.
Todoroki didn't hesitate, his ice cold hand moving forwards to send a seige of ice barreling towards the monstrous man. He surprised at how easily he ends up breaking it apart, roaring and punching his way through until Todoroki, Bakugo, and Kirishima are forced to jump away from him. Bakugo, however, charges up a blast, his palm igniting with explosions before he thrusts his palm forwards into the monsters back. "Die!"
There's a loud explosion and he hears the groan of his enemy, bakugo lands in a crouch, stunned once the villain is up in seconds and a giant fist is hurtling towards him. He doesn't react quick enough, but Kirishima luckily pushes him out of the way hardens his body quickly. His arm's taking the impact before he's sent soaring backwards, through todoroki's wall of ice and into the far wall.
"Kirishima!"
"Dodge!" Todoroki shouts.
Bakugo does so and bursts upwards as todoroki presses his foot down and ice is sent forwards at a blistering speed. The other villain slashes at the cold substance as it spreads spreads to envelope him. Leaping away Bakugo and Todoroki end up back to back, "you boys know how to fight, don't ya?"
"Where'd you come from?" The larger villain on all fours questions. Facing both villains the two student hero's frown as their hands once more are filled with their quirks.
"Right! Like we'd tell a couple of weak, ass villains!" Bakugo smirks, his palms lighting up with explosions.
"Why would we tell you anything?" Todoroki's palm once more is covered in a layer of ice.
Before the two engage in a fight, however, Bakugo turns his head slightly towards Todoroki, "Oi, icyhot, what happened to my girl?" He questioned the boy, Shouto glances at him before his expressions changes as he remembers your pained look briefly. "She can't be fighting like this ya know, not without her conductor."
"I know," Shouto says. "She didn't bring it. No one expected us to have to be fighting for our lives Bakugo."
Bakugo glared at the boy for that last comment, "Well next time be more mindful! She shouldn't be fighting at all!" He said before blasting forwards. Shouto pauses for a moment before following his lead, using his ice to glide forwards in the opposite direction.
Smashing through the door in front of the group, midoriya and Iida run through it, looking around, shocked to find no other way to go, every other way was blocked.
You stepped out of the blasted doorway, frowning as everyone began to question where to go, was this as far as we go? No, it couldn't be...huh?
Your eye's narrowed in surprise as you found yourself staring at a vent on the far ceiling, you pointed up to it, "Hey, Melissa," you got her attention, "Where does that vent lead too? Over there!" You asked her, everyone following your gaze before gasping.
Melissa looked up at it. "It must lead to the maintenance room for the sunlight system!"
Iida brightens up, grinning. "There's probably an emergency ladder in the maintenance room, right?"
"Yes, but it's a manual release, so someone would have to be inside to let it down for us," Melissa said, frowning at the realization.
Ochaco slumped. "Is this it? We can't go any further?"
Your fists clenched, the explosions and cursing from bakugo and the destructive thuds and cooling temperature from Todoroki slowly getting to you. You wanted to help them but if this is as far as we could get, how could you all help everyone else. There had to be a way! "No, there's still a chance!" You announce before your hand is soon lighting up with a ball of energy as everyone turns to you. You throw the energy blast to the vents surface and watch as the entrance explodes, "Someone can climb through, climb the exterior wall and open the ladder from the inside!"
Everyone brightens up once more, the idea becoming a reality. "Oh, right! There has to be another vent waiting inside!"
"But, who can climb through the vent and climb the exterior wall without falling?" Izuku mutters.
Everyone turns to Mineta, who immediately backs up from his suicidal classmates, "No! No, I can't! Do you have any idea how far up we are?" He stiffens entirely as Kaminari comes up behind a him to wrap an arm around his shoulder.
"If you save everyone and become a celebrity, you'll be famous and have girls everywhere!" Kaminari gave gave a perverted thumbs up, you glared at him for encouraging the boys already perverted nature. "Plus, I'd think the girls here would be might thankful for doing this, don't you thimk?"
Jirou and Ochaco lean down to the grape head, "Please, Mineta!"
"Just imagine the harem!" Kaminari swoons.
Mineta takes one glance at you, your tight dress, before his face builds with tears and his hands are grabbing the air once more, "Oh man! Ok, fine I'll do it, whatever!" Tears stream down his face, terrified.
Soon, you and the rest of the group are climbing the stairs to the maintenance room, you were climbing before Izuku, he was right below you when he noticed you had stopped and he made the decision to look up. It just so happens he'd be looking straight up your dress, a simple draft blowing through your dress and giving him a great view of your round backside in black lace underwear. He can't look away, until you start moving again after Iida finally enters the maintenance room and you hop up to climb into the room. Izuku takes the last few shaky steps up the ladder, his eyes wide and his face red as a beet, he can swear his pants feel alittle tight now.
"Zuku, are you ok?"
He stiffens, before turning his he's towards you, swallowing harshly although his throat feels dry. He gives you a shaky thumbs up, his ears burning, "Y-yeah, I'm fine," he assures you, before you smile at him and turn to follow the rest of the group, his gaze flickers down and he finds himself staring at the sway of your hips.
"Boss!" From the higher floors, one of the villains, a white haired man, with dark goggles stares at the security footage as well as glancing towards the identification list, he speaks into his comm where he knows his leader is listening. "These are no ordinary kids in the tower," he glares at the identification pictures on the screens. "They're students from U.A. high's hero course. They're well-trained," He says before glancing at one photo in particular, "All Might's Daughter is with them, she hasn't escaped like we thought."
He chuckles darkly, glancing at All Might briefly, "Good, make sure she doesn't leave. Although, I doubt she will," Then, the boss growls bitterly, "But, they're after the security system. They're heading to reroute it. Be on high alert!" He then continued, "Now since you've sent the security drones to the 80th floor, raise any barriers from floors 100 to 130 and let them pass freely," he orders.
The two villains on the other side of the speaker stiffen, "But, sir-" They're interrupted.
"Just do what I say." He demands before smirking, "and one last thing, leave the girl to me," he orders, his head turning to look at the number one hero, restrained on the stage. He grin's psychotic before turning away and ending the conversation on the other side of the device.
All Might grits his teeth, sneering at the villain as he mentions his daughter, he let's out a grunt as he feels his form deteriorating, before he flexes with a groan. That Villain was threatening you. He had to get to you, you were still in danger and he didn't like that look in the villains eyes.
"It seems like we've gotten pretty lucky," Kaminari started as you all proceeded, running down the empty, open hallway. To say you were all surprised was an understatement, they had locked down all the halls, hadn't they? The security system didn't just stop at the higher floors, if anything it would've been stronger. "The paths been clear since he 100th floor."
"Do you think we lost them maybe?" Ochaco wondered.
"That can't be it, they still have cameras on every floor. They're still watching us," you said, glancing at a side camera at the corner of a locked down window.
"Its possible they're leading us somewhere!" Momo said, panting as she ran.
"Even so, we're so close to the top floor." Izuku said, running to the edge of the hallway. "We're so close to this being over!" You hoped he was right. Your hand came to rest against your chest as you ran, the pain had subsided but there was a light throb every moment and you couldn't help but feel like it wasn't a good sign. You reached into your thigh pouch as you ran, alittle behind the group, you pulled out a small pill, it was apart of the medication you made for your father. You had no choice, if you wanted to be useful you had to get the pain under control. You breathed deeply, biting your lip before making your decision and taking the pill quickly. The medication wasn't meant for you, it was meant to withstand the effects of One for All, you may not feel much of anything, at least if you don't push yourself too far.

Could u do a little Fjord ficlit based on lyrics from the song nightmares & flare guns by Seb Adams 👀
This song is so good! And wow I got inspired for this, I hope it makes a bit of coherent sense! (will go up on my ao3 soon, once I finish my 60th fic/200k word celebratory fic!)
Fjord stops sleeping in his room. The first night back in Xhorhas he spends pacing the house, stopping periodically by Yasha’s door. Waiting, listening, cursing himself and walking away, but his feet always carry him back. He winds up finally throwing himself down in a living room chair and digging his nails into the fabric and watches the stairs and upper landing close, convinced he sees shifting in the shadows.
“Fjord?” There's a voice from across the room, and Fjord jumps, feeling the fabric of the chair tear a bit under his fingertips.
“Uh, hey, Caleb.” He squints through the dark. Caleb leans on his doorway, Frumpkin curling past his feet. “How long have you been there?” Fjord asks timidly. Caleb chuckles, uncrossing his arms.
“A minute or two. What has you spooked?” Caleb pushes off the doorway, following his cat into the room. Fjord stiffens as Frumpkin redirects at a low whistle from Caleb, but allows the cat to hop up into his lap. It’s more of a reflex to sneeze now, Caleb’s been working on making Frumpkin tolerable to Fjord’s allergies. Fjord buries a hand in the nape of the cat’s neck and smiles as he immediately sets to purring and flexing his claws in Fjord’s lap.
“Uh, nothing. Just can’t sleep.” Fjord shrugs, looking back up to see Caleb wave a hand, lighting his fingertips aflame and scanning a bookshelf by their light. “What about you?”
“It’s morning, Fjord,” Caleb says as an answer. Fjord looks to the window.
“Right. No sun.” Fjord groans and rubs his eyes with the hand not petting Frumpkin.
“You should tell Caduceus if you can’t sleep. He probably has a tea or something.” Caleb says softly. Fjord nods, stifling the urge to yawn. Eventually, Caleb retreats back to his room, book in hand, but Frumpkin stays purring in Fjord’s lap. Even if he wanted to get up now, he stays planted until the girls, Yasha included, even if she’s trailing behind a little, come hurtling down the stairs with screams of requests for breakfast. Frumpkin screeches and leaves claw marks in Fjord’s pants in his effort to get away, and Fjord hops to his feet with a wince. He’ll talk to Caduceus after breakfast, he tells himself. When there’s time.
The second night is as much of the same, and he doesn’t even get halfway to taking Caduceus’s offer of tea up before Jester gets news of their new task for Essek needing immediate attention and they’re all packing bags again. Fjord pretends his grogginess is due to the midnight hour and goes along, shaking his head at Caleb’s pointed glare before they head off into the night.
The third night he does sleep, on cold damp earth a mile underground, beaten and bruised, and he dreams. He dreams first of an eye, watching in still waters, but it’s not Uka’toa’s, it’s Yasha’s, first green, then lavender, then flashing between them so fast he covers his face with his hands, but no matter how hard he tries to turn away and shield himself the eyes stay, burned into the backs of his eyelids. He must cry out, because Jester shakes him awake, and forces water down his throat, which feels cracked and dry. He takes the next watch and doesn’t wake Beau for her shift, sitting hunched on a rock and watching the slight shifting of their firelight at the edges of Caleb’s magic hut.
They surface mid-day, blinking in the sudden light, lost in the wastes of Xhorhas but successful and alive. Caleb’s out of spells to really take them home, but while Caduceus and Jester sit down to try and commune a clue about their location, Fjord lays on his back, feeling the sun beat down on his face. A distant part of his mind wonders if the sunlight will keep him awake. He’s asleep before he can manage to open his mouth to ask.
Fjord dreams he’s treading water. He keeps feeling something in the depths, slimy skin snaking around his feet, but when he kicks out or dives under he sees nothing but dark waters. He can tell he’s losing strength, that the water that should be cold is warm to his goose-bumped skin, a deadly omen. He blinks and one moment where he saw the reflection of the moon, there is a boat. Sleek black wood, two oars, nothing built for open water, but it’s something. He kicks out for it, raises a hand to try and latch on and is met with a hand in return. Someone far stronger than him hauls him up, and he lies panting on the worn wood, blinking salt out of his eyes to see his savior.
He scrambles back when he sees Yasha, dark wings outstretched, sword in hand. She’s still reaching down to him, and her expression...gives him pause. She’s crying, but she looks happy, happier than he’s seen her in a long time. She looks a lot like she looked over their breakfast before they left the house when Jester had made a face with berries on her pancake, and Beau had switched one of the eyes with a blueberry to make it Yasha’s face, and they had all laughed. Fjord takes a steadying breath and pulls himself up onto the bench of the small boat. Yasha drops her hand, stares at him for a long moment, and sits as well.
Fjord doesn’t remember what they talk about, but he remembers that she talks, over the crash of waves and the creak of oars as she rows them- somewhere, he doesn’t know. He wakes up to a dark sky, and his friends sat around a fire a yard off, their bags and bedrolls arranged in a protective circle around him. Fjord rolls on his side and watches as Caleb says something that makes Nott laugh, and turn to Caduceus, who hands her a small bowl. He then turns to Yasha, hands her another. She stands and takes the few strides over to where Fjord lies. He blinks and forces his aching muscles to sit upright.
“Hey,” He says groggily.
“You passed out,” Yasha says, helpfully handing him the bowl, thinking better of it as his hands shake, and holding the broth to his lips for him. Fjord takes a large sip before responding.
“I uh, I’m sorry, about that,” Fjord says, carefully taking the bowl in his own hands and forcing them to be still.
“The other’s told me about why you talk like that, now,” Yasha says softly. Fjord blinks at her, taking another sip.
“What did they tell you?” He feels bad for being snarky, but he’s still hazy and hurting, and cautious. Yasha smiles.
“I understand why you would not want to risk another dream.” She says. Fjord slowly nods.
“It’s not Uka’toa, right now, at least.” He says after another mouthful. Yasha narrows her eyes, stays silent and waits for him to continue. “My mind’s just not always the most pleasant space.” He says finally. Yasha nods, understanding.
“I have... experienced that,” Yasha says slowly. Fjord sips, eyes trained on her. “I cannot say what works for me would work for you, but...” Yasha glances back towards the group. “I think we all do something, to fight it off.”
Fjord squints at her. “How so?” Yasha looks at him, settles down on the ground beside him and points.
“Beau stretches, every night before bed. When we all shared a room she’d push everything out of the way and do splits, hand-stands, every muscle group, just for a few seconds. Then pass out.” Yasha says, moving her hand a little and continue. “Jester, well, you know, she talks. She tells the Traveller about her day, writes and draws in her journal. I kind of do the same, but all to myself, in my head.”
“Who do you talk to?” Fjord asks, instantly wincing, unsure he wants to know. Yasha barely meets his eyes.
“Molly, Zualla.” She says, moving her finger again. “Caleb casts his spells, and Nott counts things. Sometimes just her own fingers, over and over until she’s tired enough to sleep.”
“Caduceus makes tea.” Fjord adds, starting to get the point. Yasha nods and smiles at him.
“You just have to find something that works for you,” Yasha says gently. Fjord finishes his soup and sets the bowl down.
“How?” He asks. Yasha sighs and shrugs.
“Have you ever had a hobby?” She asks, grimacing at her words. “I mean, something physical, repetitive. When you cast spells you always do the same motions.” Yasha says after a moment of silence. Fjord looks at his hands.
“Guys on the ship sometimes picked up like knitting or woodworking. I was never that good at it.” He curls his thick fingers into his palms.
“What about wire?” Yasha asks suddenly. Fjord tilts his head. “Beau has a bunch since she bought all those jewelers supplies for crushing the gems. She was complaining about it all just sitting in her bag.” Yasha turns and reaches around into one of the packs piled up next to them, emerging with a spool of silver wire.
“Could you make something with that?” She asks. Fjord finds the end of it silently, twisting the cord around his index finger.
“Maybe?” He says, not sounding very hopeful.
“Try it, and if it doesn’t work try something else.” Yasha pats him a little awkwardly on the shoulder.
“I need you to watch my back, Fjord.” She says, even softer now. Fjord blinks.
“I...can do that.” He says. Yasha drops her hand back to her side.
“I do not know if I will ever be able to... trust myself, again. So, it feels good, almost, to know you’re watching.”
Watching. It echoes in Fjord’s brain.
“I don’t think I’ll have to watch forever.” He says, surprising himself. Yasha looks at him, brow knitted. “I think you’ll get there, I mean. I think you were worth saving.” He tries to smile, motion fumbling a bit around his teeth. Yasha’s eyes widen a bit.
“Thank you, Fjord.” She says with an exhale. “I hope you’re right.”

Winston and Oliver
Winston and Oliver have two pretty different upbringings. Winston is brought up by his mother and stepfather in Saint John, New Brunswick, not very well off financially. Meanwhile, Oliver grows up as the son of a successful actor in Los Angeles. It just happened that their fathers had once been best friends, leading to them being childhood friends too. Whenever Oliver's family visited his father's relatives in Canada, Oliver would try meet up with Winston. So, with the help of letters, they remain good buddies.
Still, they start growing up and all their school peers begin developing non-platonic feelings towards each other. Anthony would talk about girls he thought about asking out. Oliver... couldn't relate. Perhaps he wasn't quite old enough. Let's wait a couple years. Still nothing. Okay, God, he's ready to be into girls already. Any time now. Seriously, don't wait up.
Winston is attracted to girls, even has a girlfriend or two during the early 1930s. Yet he feels similarly towards men too. Hmm odd. He guesses it's possible to be interested in both men and women. Who knew?
They were both raised Catholic. However, Winston doesn't suffer internalised homophobia as badly as Oliver does. Over the course of their life, Winston helps him grow more confident with his identity.
Oliver visits his aunt in Saint John during the summer of 1934, preparing to move to New York for college after the holidays. While there, he comes out to Winston. He needs someone to know and he rationalises it in his mind that if Winston doesn't react positively, they can always go their separate ways and leave their friendship behind as a childhood thing. He doesn't want to lose Winston as friend though. Oliver knows he won't rat him out to the authorities either way. So you can imagine the overwhelming relief he feels when Winston smiles and admits he's gay too.
While at Julliard, Oliver befriends a girl name Mary. She falls in love with him and he doesn't have the guts to tell her he'll never feel the same. He loves her but only platonically. Still, he enjoys her company. And well... he's going to have to marry a girl one way or another. He'd rather it be Mary.
Everything about being her boyfriend feels wrong. He's deceiving her. And he's now planing to make that deception lifelong. He really shouldn't be doing this to her. And yet he does, for the sake of selfishly saving his own skin.
Sophia has always suspected her brother was attracted to men. She privately calls him out after he announces he's engaged. Oh and what do you know, she's attracted to 'all sorts of individuals'. Great, that would have been good to know as he came of age. Nevermind. He knows now.
Around the same time, Sophia and Winston start a relationship. After all, Oliver isn't the only Jackson sibling to enjoy hanging out with Winston when they were growing up. They're happy together and Oliver is happy for them. He trusts Winston to treat her well.
Oliver marries Mary in 1940, with Winston becoming his brother-in-law the year after. Things are going well. The two men meet up every now and again. Mary just thinks her husband is spending time with an old friend. Sophia knows what's really going on and doesn't care too much, so long as Winston doesn't see anyone else behind her back.
When Oliver gets the news that two of his brothers have died, it changes how he wants to go about life. They had been 24 and 22. Oliver himself is still 28 by that point. He has some 50 or so years left, assuming he is going to die old. Does he really want to live a lie forever, just so everyone will approve of him? 50 years is a hell of a long time.
Mary unintentionally discovers the truth in 1951. She makes him pack his bags immediately. They divorce on the grounds of adultery. Fearing he'd 'corrupt' their two children (age ~9 and 5), she ensures he sees as little of them as possible.
Unsure of where to really go, he ends up at Sophia and Winston's doorstep. His reputation has been heavily damaged, his career as a composer with it. It feels as if the only things he has left are his sister and his best-friend-turned-lover.
Sophia understands the position she's in. Her husband prefers her brother's company. So she lets them go. She wants them both to be happy. Her only condition is that Winston remains an active part of their children's lives.
This new way of life works quite well for them. Winston moves to New York to live with Oliver. The three Wynton children grow up with their dad living with their uncle every other week being normalised. Their mom bringing 'friends' home every now and again isn't that out there either.
Life carries on, as it tends to do. More nieces and nephews come from Anthony, Harriet and Nora. Oliver definitely feels at home in Winston's company. Winston feels the same.
Still, the two of them have to remain secretive and anxious that they'll be discovered. I can't seem to find what the penalty in the state of New York was for sodomy. Whatever it was, they wanted to avoid it. Being disgraced as an unfaithful husband is one thing. Being in a same-sex relationship during the 50s is something else entirely.
In 1962, Illinois repeals its sodomy laws, essentially decriminalising homosexual relationships. 10 years later, Winston asks Oliver if he wants to move there. All of their children are adults themselves now. Come on, they could be free to be two men in love. Oliver is skeptical. He has built a life here in New York but... not hiding does sound nice. Okay then, let's try life in Illinois.
So they move to Chicago. They take some time to settle in, meeting other local members of the queer community while doing so. They're still not displaying their relationship in public. Decades of being cautious will do that. But then they're eating out with some friends and a couple hold hands. Very publically. And they're not getting any backlash for it. No-one's coming to their table to try get those two arrested.
Winston and Oliver risk holding hands where other people can clearly see them. No major consequences. A while later, they increase the risk by kissing while in public. Again, no legal repercussions.
Oh. Oh shit. They really can be out in public here. They get dirty looks sometimes. But it's not like those people could have them thrown in jail. They're in their late 50s now and finally, finally they can be visibly homosexual.
In 1975, they celebrate their respective 60th birthdays. Their first major birthdays as their true selves. They still can't believe it.
The two of them decide they want to help the younger generation. The queer kids who were coming of age in a time of more freedom. They both grew up in fear of being discovered. These kids need to know the community has their back. Laws changing doesn't immediately change attitudes, after all.
A music store is set up. If someone came saying their friend, Dorothy, sent them, they'd be sent to the back room. Word spread and more arrived claiming 'Dorothy' sent them.
Over the next few years, they watch these teenagers and young adults grow up. Some go to college or move away. Others keep hanging around where they know they'll be accepted.
Then one of the kids they'd said goodbye to returns. Oh wow, it's great to see you. How are things? You and Joshua still going strong? Wait, what do you mean he suddenly became very ill and died? Oh, that's- that's awful. He was such a good guy. We're so sorry. Give our condolences to his friends and family, if you're able.
It's not the last time they have members of their youth club become affected by this strange new disease. Not by a long shot. As the years carry on, they'll have one person coming to them saying their friend was diagnosed. Then they'll have another privately revealing they contracted the disease themselves a while later. Quite a few simply stress about the prospect of potentially getting infected.
Listen, they're just two gay men who are fast approaching their 70s. What the hell are they meant to do to protect these members who were practically children from something this overwhelming?
This disease obviously gets a name. When they hear about the New York Times referred to it as Gay-related immune deficiency or GRID, this ruffles more than a few feathers. Paired with other terms such as 'gay cancer' and 'gay plague', they are livid that the media has decided to target their marginalised group further.
This won't do. The two of them were born in the middle of a huge war where millions of young men died. Winston's father and Oliver's uncle were two of them. Oliver lost two of his brothers to the sequel of that war where even more people died in the millions. Too many young men and women have been needlessly lost this century. Even more are being lost right now but that's obviously not important because of who those people are.
People are dying. Some of them are only in their 20s or 30s. Stop using this as a chance to demonise a community that's already suffered enough, you bastards.
As soon as they learn it is spread through intercourse and infected blood, they promote protection. Boys, here's a condom. Girls, if any of you are planning to become involved with a guy, take one too. Don't expect him to necessarily carry one on him, though he should. And if any of you kids are doing drugs, please stop. You shouldn't be interacting with drugs in the first place but there's no better time to go cold turkey than right now. It would break our hearts to hear you got sick. Please stay safe out there, okay?
The 80s eventually turn into the 90s. While the members of their youth group may have seen them as gay uncle types back in the 70s, they're definitely more gay grandpas now. They keep going, maintaining the store and supporting younger members of the queer community in Chicago.
Oliver dies in 1999, with Winston joining him three years later. They are 83 and 86 respectively. But you know what? They've had a great go of it. Whether it was as childhood friends, brothers-in-law who maintained a secret relationship or long-term partners, they've been at each other's side. They count themselves lucky to have found someone so dear to them and been able to spend their life with them.
They wouldn't have wanted to do it with anyone else.
