Idia drabble, fluff, lots of couple banter
Tumblr media
Your wishlist containing released games is empty.
In the next several minutes after saving a title to one, you can expect a notification that the game is getting downloaded, and a mere seconds after that—several messages from your boyfriend.
“thought u would never play it lol”
“weren't you supposed to be studying??”
He sends a meme degrading your hierarchy of values as if he were any better. It is followed by a request.
“stream it to me when you play it”
And you do, after thanking him yet chiding him for wasting too much money on you without a second thought. His reply was a string of emojis and guarantee that he is doing it all for himself, because “educating you on the topic of latest games is his duty” and he cares about “the boyfriend points”.
“I hope my love’o’meter for u was broken by all that pampering lmao”
“waiting for my cg to load up…”
[NAME]: “not enough affection points”
“damn”
“i need a walkthroughyt to this route”
Idia has you join a voice channel, with you sharing your screen. Playing a game in a separate dorm is a whole different experience than having him beside you, with his hands almost trembling to grab your controller if you couldn’t get past a certain level.
He would always wait for you to ask him for help, though. Then he could let the feeling of self-satisfaction sink in as he easily guided your character to another enemy to slash.
If he only has you on the voice chat, you might be able to finish the game almost fully by yourself.
You can hear the soft sound of his keyboard as he plays something as well. He divides his attention between you and his entertainment, and he throws in commentary to your playthrough, teasing you when you can’t find a secret key to the special gate, bullying you when you find the puzzles too hard, or when you pick the wrong dialogue option.
At some point, you might try to (playfully) mute his microphone, but you can only have eight seconds of silence before he hacks into the options.
“No need to be jealous of my gaming knowledge,” he exclaims, and you know he has that big stupid grin on his face. You huff, and he hums. “But if you want me to help, all you need to do is just ask.”
“I want to go through this game myself!”
“Okay, sure. But you know you have already missed the opportunity for the best ending, no?” He laughs. “That’s what you get for muting me, kitten.”
No need to spoil the ending just to get back at me, you’d love to say, but you learned that the shy boy who couldn’t hold your gaze several months ago is actually a big tease. You must’ve grown too much on him, as he would have continued the bickering even if you showed up in his room. No social anxiety towards you—that’s a bit of a shame, he was cute when you first started dating.
…Well, Idia you know now is a cutie as well, even if he can be very annoying sometimes.
“Enough. I’m going to play my otome games, bye.”
You log out, and shut the stream, chuckling all the time. A funny feeling tingled your heart, like always when you won (or have you?) in banter in Idia: your heart is warm enough to probably melt through the ribcage, but a subtle alarm rings in your head. Idia will probably take revenge for this.
He must already be in distress. He doesn’t like you playing otome games alone, as if you could have ever preferred a 2D boy over Idia. The thought makes you laugh.
You plop on your bed, unlocking your phone and tapping an icon of the name game you’ve installed. Although playing it with Idia would have been funnier, you are going to play him just out of spite.
…And after that, you will send him a wall of text about those handsome characters, because he needs to be updated on your current obsessions.
The title screen appears before everything crashes and the screen goes black. Several messages in neon-blue futuristic font colour appear one by one.
An error has occurred.
Caught exception:
Traceback (most recent call last):
File “characters”, line 46, in script
File “stats”, line 153, in script
File “story”, line 665, in script
File “achievements”, line 411, in log.1
File “backup_data”, line 139, in log
To continue:
“[Name]-san. Please come to our dorm. My brother is moping (so he won’t be finishing his project anytime soon, which is, really bad) and I would appreciate you having mercy on him.
Once you come, I will restore your data! It’s a promise :>

stormlight au number 35 (help me i'm lost in the sauce)
Jasnah, Dalinar, and Renarin (surviving Kholin Radiants) travel from End of World all the way to right after Gavilar's death.
Vengeance pact still happens, but plays out very differently. We don't need absolutely every man in the kingdom to join the army, alright Elhokar? And we're making sure Dalinar is there to accept their surrender, actually win in reasonable time frame and 'conquer' them (no Alethi want to live out there anyway, and as long as they send gemhearts in tribute we won't enslave them. actually elhokar, your sister wanted to talk to you about slavery—).
Honestly, just an excuse for:
A) Adolin to have a breakdown that his entire family has been replaced by voidbringers, before eventually accepting with relief that they're still his family, they've just become voidbringers, but its ok because he loves them and will protect their increasingly heretical actions with his life. Hugs his glowing red and green eyed little brother a lot.
Adolin: do I — should I also learn to read?
Jasnah: do you want to?
Adolin: not really, no.
Renarin: to be honest, it's probably for the best if you just focus on being, well, a good Vorin Alethi. One of us probably should be, if we don't have a desolation as a distraction.
Adolin: ok! sure! I can do that. Also thought id mention that if possible, I would personally appreciate *not* having a desolation.
Jasnah: it may prove necessary.
Adolin: I know, i know. Just thought I'd put my feelings out there.
Dalinar: and we'll need you to produce Kholin heirs. Neither Renarin or Jasnah are likely to, and I'm not remarrying a younger woman.
Adolin: Sounds good!
B) Kholin family to have way too strong a reaction to this random darkeyed surgeon in training when they visit Kharbranth, scaring the absolute shit out of said darkeyed surgeon. Adolin walks into a wall when he sees Kaladin. He doesn't even know about the Radiant thing, it's just that
C) Kaladin dresses really hot in this au. Ok. I lied. this is actually the main reason for this au. It — there's a whole chain of events. I – don't look at me like that. The character development works, alright?
A lot of it boils down to distracting people from groping the female medical trainees.
He realizes that breathing in a certain way, while it makes you focus better and move faster, it also makes you more...present somehow? people pay attention to you, for better or worse. Some of the ladies teach him that there are different ways to channel people's focus on you, if they're looking anyway.
And apparently, for the first few years Kharbranth medical students, light and dark eyed alike, have basically no protections from wealthy patients or Lighteyed chief's of staff who are a bit too interested in teaching you to use your safehand, and its not like Kaladin can challenge them to a duel - he doesnt know how to fight, and it would get him and the person hes trying to protect kicked out of the program. So much for honorable lighteyes being real.
But I mean. If wearing some eyeliner, and a gemstone in your hair, if taking your right glove off first after an exam, conspicuously leaving the left on while talking, if bending over to pick his clipboard up in a certain way... if it gets people to not focus on his friends...
...one could probably get pretty angsty with this concept, ngl.
The Stormlight understanding and oaths come in time. There might also be some Radiant Disguise Superhero hijinks, havent fully decided but it's not really a major stretch from canon to say that Kharbranth struggles with violent crime. Also Kaladin gets to learn about institutional racism in school. It's great. I have a lot of Kaladin thoughts but so does everyone in this au so its ok.
Kholins visit Kharbranth:
Jasnah: you've been moping for days. Is your new fixation of the week not responding to your advances?
Adolin: I don't want to talk about it
Dalinar: son, you've clearly been in a mood—
Adolin: look, I'm not — the individual is not suitable for my station, alright? I'm not courting someone I could never actually marry, because that would be stupid.
Jasnah: while it would complicate matters, you know your brother and I have plans to alter the alethi codes around eye color, considering they're clearly a crude derivative of radiant mythologization
Dalinar: I thought we agreed that was low on the priority list
Jasnah: You said that uncle, Renarin most certainly did not agree, and his arguments are sound
Adolin: He's just some surgeon, alright! He's not just darkeyed, he's a darkeyed man. I said I'll get over it! I always do.
Dalinar: ah.
Jasnah: ...did you say surgeon?
Adolin: Yes? Why?
Dalinar: why does it —
Jasnah: how did you meet?
Adolin: He was — he was with this group of women at a winebar, and he was dressed like – but it turned out he just goes to protect them from - and it was so — why are you asking me about this?
Dalinar: Oh! A darkeyed surgeon. Protecting, you say? He sounds...honorable.
Jasnah: Very honorable.
Adolin: He is! He volunteers at this house for injured soldiers, and you wouldn't believe he'd never been to war, I mean his spear Katas — he's – it's like he was born for it —
Dalinar: He sounds like a fine young man. Perhaps you should bring him to meet us.
Adolin: I — while I appreciate that father, I really do, I thought I was the one who was supposed to well. I mean my role in...all of this is to produce heirs and look proper, right?
Jasnah: Hm. when you put it it that way...
Dalinar: I mean, Navani and I might be able to...
Jasnah: Don't be ridiculous. I'm perfectly capable of producing a child, should it prove absolutely necessary,
Adolin: Jasnah?
Jasnah: Provided the man you're courting is of worthy quality.
Adolin: We're not — I haven't been courting! I didn't think it was an option! I don't even know if he's interested! From what I can tell he has people throwing themselves at his feet all the time!
Jasnah: An abnormally honorable darkeyed surgeon, natural warrior, magnetically charismatic personality...yes that might make a worthwhile addition to the family.
Dalinar: I can write to Elhokar at once, recommend that he and Aseuden —
Jasnah: Uncle we've been over this — this is exactly the sort of thing that led to me insisting you come with me on this trip! If we cripple his ability to lead—
Adolin: Are we — are we moving into the discussing the future part of the evening, because I can go guard the door—
Dalinar: wait, when you say produce a child, you don't mean through soulcasting, right?
Jasnah: I don't see why I should answer that question.
Adolin: Yeah, i'm just going to go guard the door now

Commander as Companion
Commander as companion prompt by @dragonologist-phd
Tumblr media
amazing art commission by @arnaerr ❤️
Name: Siavash Mirani
Race: Half-elf
Class: Bard
Appearance:
Medium build, not tall for a half-elf, dressed in assorted pastels/earthtones: embroidered sky-blue tunic, burgundy jerkin, light blue sash, forest-green trousers, doe-brown cloak. Shoulder-length blond hair swept back at the temples in a man bun. In his class equipment he has a guitar slung over his shoulder.
Portrait – leaning on a lush willow tree by a riverbank, legs crossed at the ankles, playing guitar with a soft yet somehow compelling smile.
He has a nice tenor with a slight BBC English accent. His barks sound friendly and on the edge of laughter, but in romance scenes it becomes soft and a little husky.
Favored Weapon/Equipment:
Crossbow, longsword
Default stats are pretty even across the board except for high Cha and slightly less Wis.
Top Skills: Persuasion, Knowledge: World, Knowledge: Arcana, Knowledge: Nature
Alignment: Chaotic good
General Personality: Easygoing, optimistic, kind, confident, lazy, unreliable, prone to guilt
Siavash is rootless and fun-loving, but he can show remarkable determination when it comes to things that are important to him—while needing constant reminding or stimulation to get more mundane tasks done. One thing he is zealously committed to is freeing people from different sorts of chains, whether those are literal chains, poverty, or closed-mindedness. With a high charisma score and high persuasion, he frequently attempts to talk the KC and companions out of their prejudices and toward an egalitarian and compassionate vision. With mixed success.
Because he sees people as ends in themselves and never a means to an end, in wartime he can be accused of irresponsibility by lawful characters more concerned with the possible consequences of their actions.
That said, he secretly carries quite a burden of guilt when doing the right thing does not happen to lead to a good outcome.
In romance he’s fun, sappy, sincere and affectionate but hesitant to commit.
What traits/values do they admire? Kindness, open-mindedness, willingness to bend rules, fun. Chaotic commanders will always fare better.
What traits/values do they disapprove of? Cruelty, closed-mindedness, prejudice, grim dutifulness, dehumanization
Are they affiliated with any deities? Desna 🦋
What do they think of their role in the Crusades, and of sharing the Commander’s Mythic powers? What are their reasons for joining the commander’s party?
He’ll join the crusade saying it’s for the fun and adventure, but you will soon notice he shows determination when it comes to helping people. Everything else is shrugged off.
He’s more inclined to see the KC’s mythic powers as a giant stroke of luck and encourages the KC to embrace them as long as it’s in service to the crusade or other noble goals. An evil KC who uses those powers for personal gain will earn less favor, but he will stick with the party with a certain obstinate optimism that he can convince them to do better. A lawful KC who uses those powers to dominate will rapidly fall out of favor.
Who are their friends among the other party members?
Woljif, Arueshalae, Ember, Sosiel, Seelah (in that order of warmth); lots of snarky banter with Daeran but eventually they’ll be friends in a party with a good-aligned commander; with an evil-aligned commander where Daeran’s cruelty is more on display the banter becomes bitter by Act V.
He and Ulbrig would get along until Ulbrig begins to suspect he’s channeling magic through his music, at which point he will tease him unmercifully, like to psych him out: “When you passed me that mug of beer just now, was it free will or did I enchant you? Will you ever know?” Still they’re on the same moral wavelength and Siavash doesn’t actually look down on his superstitions. (I haven’t played with Ulbrig yet but I sense they’ll be bros.)
What about rivals?
Regill. Daeran but that can change, Wenduag, Lann to a smaller extent (if Siavash would please pull his weight with camp duties), Camellia because she resolutely resists his attempts at making friends.
Are they on any councils? If so, what sort of advice do they give?
Diplomatic council – pro-Andoran / anti-Cheliax; he is always militating for human rights and democracy; likes to bring aristocrats down a peg; has many connections he can call upon but most often in opposition to the Royal Council’s will; neutral about religious issues.
Logistics council – he will always support taxing the rich to improve conditions for the lower ranks, and will not shy away from creative corruption as long as the rich are targeted; will suggest throwing a massive Ritual of Stardust in Act V that will cost little but give a bonus to morale as well as recruitment of mythic units and mercenaries.
Where do they hang out in Drezen? In the Abyss?
Never in the same place. Most likely to be at the Half-Measure, but sometimes chatting on the top floor of the inn, busking or hanging with Woljif at the Market, chilling with Crinukh, playing for the soldiers at the barracks, posing for Sosiel, talking to prisoners, sitting on top of the walls. In the Abyss he won’t budge from a spot near the fire.
What are their idle animations?
The bard groove that’s already in the game (I need to make a gif of that one of these days, it’s hilarious.) Or he’ll whip his guitar around his shoulder and tune it.
If they’re taken to Areelu’s lab, what is their dream?
He’s in Elysium surrounded by adoring naked azata. (Deliberately a superficial fantasy.)
Do they advise the commander to abandon or keep their mythic powers?
“Hey man you do you.” He tells the KC that they should take control of their own destiny, whether that’s by giving up their powers, or keeping them and using them as they see fit. The important thing is not to be a tool of Areelu or any other greater power.
How/when do they join the Commander’s party?
As a game companion he’s not an Andoren Diplomat but a traveling bard. You’ll see him busking at the City Day festivities.
The KC comes across him in Kenabres after the attack, helping people escape a burning prison. The KC overhears his conversation with one of them:
“Malthor, Katia Malthor, is that your name? These people seem to think of you as a leader. Gather them and rally them to defend the city. Help keep people safe. You can do that, right? I’m counting on you.”
“Uh, yeah, sure…” And she runs off.
When questioned he will then explain to the KC that he let the prisoners out of the Inquisition prison when he heard screaming from inside the burning building. If you make a perception check you’ll see wood and straw piled up as if someone lit the prison on fire deliberately. You may be able to question Hulrun about it later. (It was on his orders.) Siavash will pull the KC aside and ask them not to report him. If they do, he’s arrested and out of the lineup.
If a lawful/evil commander objects to his actions, Siavash will say the prisoners didn’t deserve to be burned alive especially without a trial. KC: “Aren’t you worried cultists will wreak even more havoc?” Siavash: “I talked to them. It’ll be fine.” [Radiant smile.]
Relationship with the Knight-Commander:
He never calls the KC “Commander” but in text always by their first name or “my friend” in spoken lines.
The KC will have opportunities to make remarks about his not pulling his weight, being difficult to locate when needed, or generally annoying. These he will laugh and shrug off but they will decrease his approval counter.
A more aggressive KC can harangue him for being unreliable, careless and obnoxious.
His approval is high for Azata, Legend, Trickster, Angel and Gold Dragon in decreasing order.
Describe their companion quest:
Act I – Releasing the prisoners from the Inquisition prison is the start of it.
Act II – Rumors of a cultist cell called the “Avenging Pyre” circulate in the crusade. They have been preying on Kenabres refugees and sacrificing them to invoke demons which they then unleash on the surrounding areas.
Act III – With Siavash in the party, there will be a random encounter with cultists wearing special black robes bearing a flaming design (Avenging Pyre). They have burned a bunch of crusaders alive. A few escape the ensuing battle and say something about their leader “Malthor” as they flee. Siavash asks to talk to the commander when they get back to Drezen.
He looks really upset and says he thinks Malthor may have been one of the prisoners he freed in Kenabres, and admits that it may have been a mistake that he needs to make right. The KC can: 1) (lawful) give him a chewing out and regret not throwing him in prison himself; 2) (chaotic) tell him he did the right thing and he couldn’t know the consequences. Lots more approval for 2 obviously. In Crusade Mode more reports of the Avenging Pyre’s depredations continue to accumulate.
Act IV – Siavash is found at the Bad Luck tempting fate with busking and the KC has to intervene to prevent him being torn limb from limb. He then tells the KC that he overheard rumors Hepzamirah has been funneling Nahyndrian crystals not only to Xanthir Vang but also to a cultist cell in Golarion. In Colphyr, Mutasafen confirms that Malthor is getting crystals and she is preparing to unleash an augmented demon.
Act V – An army of demons led by an augmented balor shows up in Crusade Mode. Captain Odan reports after the battle and confirms that it’s Malthor’s work. The KC gets the quest to talk to Siavash about it but after a short search is approached by Anevia, saying he’s left Drezen.
Alternatively, if romanced, he will be found in the KC’s chamber sitting on the bed playing guitar. He’ll confess about the guilt he’s feeling and how important it is for him to fix things, and ask the KC to accompany him.
In the Worldwound the party will find him preparing to sneak disguised into Malthor’s camp and fix this or die trying. The KC alone will accompany him, and you’ll have to avoid alert guards and dogs/demons. When the two of them get to Malthor’s tent they find that Malthor is not Katia but her sister!
The sister has been leading the cultist cell believing Katia was burned alive in the Kenabres prison. This is her revenge on the Inquisitors and crusaders. The KC can then 1) (LE) execute her on the spot – Siavash will turn on the KC and be killed too, 2) (LN) take her prisoner – Siavash will disapprove strongly or 3) (LG) take her prisoner but promise a fair trial and to help find her sister; the KC will berate him for being careless – Siavash will disapprove less but all of these choices increase his bad ending counter.
4) Chaotic – let Siavash talk to her, in which case he tries to convince her that her sister is still alive by an act of Desna’s grace and that he’ll help find her. If the KC has been supportive up to this point he will succeed. If not, he will fail and she’ll attack. Best outcome is she comes back to Drezen and atones by joining the crusade (ending slides will say she found her sister eventually and they lived out their days making up for the damage she did). Talking to Siavash after the final quest you can forgive him and relieve a significant burden of guilt but he will be pensive about the consequences of his actions.
Obviously the party has to fight the augmented balor to escape!
Are they romanceable? Describe their romance quest/scenes if you want!
Restricted to male commanders. In Act II the KC will get a dialogue where he’s singing about admiring someone mysterious and exciting from afar, and you can ask him if it’s about you. He’ll give you a really cute grin and say “It is if you want it to be.” Hard to tell if he’s joking. He’ll also do this with a female KC and then if pursued in Act III will friendzone her. (Deliberately annoying. He’s a flirt.)
With a chaotic commander, there will be a camp cutscene where he says “This crusade is turning out even more fun than I expected. There’s never a dull moment with you, is there? Sometimes I thank Desna she put us in each other’s path.”
Act III – He will show up at the command room and ask the KC to take a day off and have some fun. He then disguises both of you with a cantrip and takes you to the Half Measure to drink and listen in on gossip, and from there you tail a cultist together, prank Hulrun if alive / Horgus if not, and finally climb up and walk along Drezen’s walls so you can stargaze. In the dialogue you can either resist his ideas or add your own, earning more approval, in which case at the end of it he tells you you’re a lot of fun and that he finds you fascinating.
If you press for more, he’ll sleep with you but be gone the next morning. The next time you talk to him he’ll be friendly but a little reserved.
Act IV – After the Battlebliss you get a dialogue where he’s off by himself and you realize he’s been crying. He tells you the Abyss is getting to him and that he was terrified when you were taken prisoner, and asks for a hug. You can press for more but he’ll say not here. He will then hold you close and sing a lullaby until you fall asleep in each other’s arms, and you will have no nightmares for once.
Act V start – Choosing Devil, Lich, or Aeon will trigger a cutscene where he breaks up with the KC politely but firmly, with barely disguised bitterness. With Swarm he’ll just get eaten I guess. With Demon he’ll hold out longer, and there will be a lot of pleading and tears before the end, but eventually a Demon romance locks him into his bad ending.
Act V – At some point when you exit the Citadel into the city he’ll run up and grab your hand and ask you to come with him. He takes you to a secluded spot outside the city walls where there’s a nice little brook and a picnic already laid out, and plays you a really sweet, sappy love song. If you respond positively he’ll confess:
“I messed up. I didn’t want to fall in love with you. At first it was because I didn’t want to be tied down to Drezen or to this crusade, but the longer I stayed the more I knew I wanted to stay, to be by your side wherever that took me, even if it meant going to the Abyss—and even if it meant staying here.
“The more I stayed the more I felt drawn to you, the more I began to care about you. Your happiness means everything to me. Just the thought of your smile lights up my whole world.
“The real problem is, I know myself. I’m afraid I’ll let you down. And that I couldn’t bear, because I… I love you. With all my heart.”
You can accept in one of two ways: you can ask him to stay with you in Drezen, in which case he will commit but with some trepidation (A little shaky: “Staying here with you will be a whole new adventure.”) The best outcome is if you tell him you dream of a day when you can leave this behind and travel the world together. He will say “Your smile is like Elysium—it fills me with joy and wonder. I want to walk in your garden forever.”
After that if you suggest spending some time together it will be in your picnic spot, not in the Citadel bedroom.
At Threshold he’ll gush and promise never to leave you, but he will not propose.
What would their ending slides be like?
Good non-romanced ending with Good!Woljif – they are inseparable and it’s strongly implied romantically involved. They gathered a cult following in Razmiran and were subsequently run out of the country; the KC had to pull some strings to get them out of jail in Druma; their infamy grows as their scams funnel money to Woljif’s charities.
Romanced endings: 1) staying in Drezen – he is forever in the KC’s orbit like a bright, wandering planet, always full of love songs and romantic escapades, but he sometimes gazes out over the walls with a longing expression—until his eyes meet yours. 2) travelling – inseparable, you travel Avistan, then across the Inner Sea to the Golden Road and beyond, finding love and adventure and always seeking to help the downtrodden; he says his soul has taken wing.
Bad ending – Siavash was last seen on the run busking in Kerse, having displeased the Thrunes with his attempts to interfere with the slave trade in Cheliax. The KC received a letter from him posted in Katapesh but that was years ago.
Any other fun facts?
Gargoyle attack – he is one of those who are carried off. You find him on the road to the Lost Chapel rallying scared crusaders. His HP are at 50%.
Taking Drezen – if the KC goes azata he will be overjoyed; he and Aivu tend to one-up each other in terms of mischief
Wintersun – at the waterfall, with or without Daeran’s suggestion of erotic bathing, he will try to turn the event into a skinny dipping party
Battlebliss – he will make a rescue attempt in disguise and get thrown into the ring with the KC
Fleshmarket – he’ll fully encourage an azata commander to raze the place, but even with a non-azata commander he will frequently comment, and when Daeran offers to buy the aasimar he’ll warm to him
Ivory Sanctum and Ivory Labyrinth – will insist on freeing every possible prisoner, getting the party into a couple of scraps
Provide some dialogue/bark examples!
Hm? Oh, sure. / Anything for you, hon. / It’ll be fine.
Too many clicks: Ugh, can’t someone else do the boring bits?
Perception check: Hey, check this out!
Skill check success: No problem. / Ha, luck and looks.
Skill check failure: Oh, well. I’ll… make it up to you.
Attack: Oh man, not again. / When will people learn?
Crit: You were asking for that. / Tremble before my mighty lute!
Rare: I don’t manipulate people; I just get them to reconsider what’s in their best interest.
Provide some examples of companion banters!
(Act II) Daeran: You do understand that if I frequently mock your clothes, it’s because I’m inviting you to remove them.
Siavash: I’m afraid my tastes run toward the more plebian, as you’ve wasted no opportunity to point out.
Siavash: (singing) …you are ensorcelled by my music…
Ulbrig: LA LA LA I CAN’T HEAR YOU.
Regill: Will you cease this inane singing? Not only are you a distraction, your noisemaking attracts enemies and provides them with a most tempting target.
Siavash: Distracting, attractive and tempting, eh Regill?
Woljif: I got a good one. I’ll put up handbills and talk up the show, but on ticket sales we hit ‘em with a service charge and then say it’s sold out and double the price. Tell ‘em the proceeds go to veterans of the crusade.
Siavash: Not bad! I’m up for it, as long as the proceeds really do go to veterans of the crusade.
Woljif: Hey, you talk a good game about tiefling rights, but I ain’t seen you give to the cause.
Siavash: Here, you can have my cherry roll.
Siavash: Woljif, you have such a funny expression when I play, like your eyes go all dreamy and your tail curls up. I guess you like music.
Woljif: Huh? I don’t know what you’re… I mean, everybody likes music. Hey, sing that one about the orphan pickpocket who strikes it rich again.
(Act V Good!Woljif / unromanced) Siavash: If you’d taken Ygefeles’ power you’d be living it up right now, but you wouldn’t have real friends. Like the chief. Like me.
Woljif: “Friends” huh? Yeah, I guess things could be worse. Could be better too though… uh, you know.
(Act V Good!Woljif / unromanced) Siavash: Are you all right, Woljif? You look cold.
Woljif: You look warm.
Ember: You sing carefree songs and make people feel hopeful, but you never talk about how scared you are.
Siavash: Everybody’s scared, Ember. I just want them to forget about it for a little while.

A Matter of Life and Death / Stairway to Heaven (1946)
Posted for the @gomenseveryday countdown to Good Omens 2! 16 days to go!
I was able to watch this old movie just by searching for the title on Roku. At least in my region, there are a few free apps you can download to watch it - there were commercials, but not too many.
This movie had two different titles: Stairway to Heaven in the US, and A Matter of Life and Death in the UK.
I’ll admit, old movies can be hard for me to get into because - and this is difficult to explain, but I’ll do my best - the language, the framing of stories, and the very cinematography is so different from what I’m used to. It’s definitely not about special effects and has nothing to do with the quality of the story or acting; it’s something vague. It’s like a dialect of a language that I speak, where I can understand a lot of it, but there are serious gaps in my understanding. As a result, I might miss social cues that most contemporaries of those movies would have picked up with no problem (like slang expressions). If you’ve seen this movie and my interpretation sounds off, there is a good chance it’s because the movie is more than twice as old as I am and I don’t fully know what I’m talking about.
Stairway to Heaven is referenced in the opening sequence to Good Omens 2 (the link leads right to the opening sequence, so don’t click it if you want to keep that a surprise), and has also been mentioned by Michael Sheen as a favorite movie. It’s about a World War II pilot named Peter Carter whose “time is up,” who is supposed to die as he ejects from his burning plane without a parachute - but Conductor 71, his usher to the afterlife (a former French aristocrat who has been dead for a long time), loses track of him in the soupy fog of the English channel. Peter has to appeal to a Higher Authority for an extended lifetime with his new beloved, the American operator at an army base who took what he believed was going to be his final call from his plane. Her name is June.
While Peter is experiencing this heavenly appeal, his doctor and love interest are assuming that his struggle is “real to him” but not literal; they believe he is having many very complicated hallucinations that he needs to work through, while in the physical world, surgery needs to be done on his brain to prevent lasting damage.
It’s said at the beginning of the movie that the ethereal events take place in the pilot’s imagination. While I can take that somewhat at face value, the movie presents the afterlife trial as very real, intermingling it with Peter’s brain surgery and appearing to affect the world around him physically. The movie validates the pilot’s experience and the complexity of the ideas he’s grappling with, while acknowledging that his brain injury is also a physical reality. I can’t be entirely certain whether the success of the surgery led to Peter’s survival or whether the success of the ethereal trial led to the success of the surgery, and I suspect that’s the whole point.
It’s a thoughtful movie with much more to it than just the similarities to Good Omens. However, this post is about those similarities.
There are so many familiar things here. The afterlife as a bureaucracy? Oh, yes, it has that in spades. Theres also an amusing scene wherein Conductor 71 stops time to have a chat with Peter. The main characters are English and US-American, too, and an element of “sides” is introduced in the form of debate over the cultures of England and the USA. This is no concern to Peter and June, but it is very concerning indeed to the afterlife entities who died during historical events.
All in all, I’d highly recommend this movie if you want to connect with some familiar ideas as they manifested in a story from many decades ago. Note that the movie does date itself sometimes. To my relatively untrained eye, it seemed pretty respectful, although there were a few stereotypes that you might expect from 1946, and I think it tried to boldly face some aspects of history (e.g. England's imperialism) while continuing to sanitize others. Overall, though, I'd recommend it!
EDIT: Oh, dear. I didn't notice, but after reading online, I've been informed that there's blackface in the movie. One of the celestial characters is intended to be a Black American, but during part of his appearance on-screen, the film switches from black and white to Technicolor, and you can see that he's played by a white actor. This information is from TV Tropes and I can't seem to find screenshots of any related parts of the movie, but you should be warned that it's in there.

My friend knows that I write fanfiction - he’s helped me with editing on some occasions, sometimes I ask for his opinion on specific phrasing. He doesn’t know EVERYTHING I’ve ever written, but he is relatively familiar with this one Hermitcraft fic in particular that I’ve been working on for the last 2 years, and every now and then out of the blue he’ll ask me about it. He’s never actually read it at all, but he knows it’s something I’ve worked very hard on and so occasionally he asks for updates on what’s happening, how far I’ve gotten, what chapter I’m on, etc.
Now, we’ve talked about Hermitcraft before, but he’s still not really 100% sure what it is. I’ve explained it to him, but he’d never actually watched or really even looked it up at all.
Until today.
I just had a full 3-4 hour conversation with this man. He started by asking me about some of the research I do and what role it plays, because I had previously mentioned that I did a lot of research that wasn’t necessarily “fact” related, but I used the knowledge a lot with how I describe certain situations. The example I gave was a previous chapter where I had researched a ton of astronomy so that I could better describe the behaviour of stars in this one specific section because I thought it sounded cool. I sent him a screenshot of the paragraph from the chapter, and he immediately asked me to link him to the full fic so he could read from the beginning because it sounded interesting.
Keeping in mind that he still doesn’t really know 100% what Hermitcraft actually is.
I sent him the link to the fic on my archive account and he was immediately confused by the set up and had another billion questions about all the symbols and the tagging system. One of the biggest things that confused him was the tag “RPF”. He plays dungeons and dragons, and so his immediate question was “does that stand for roll play fiction?” And I had to explain that no, this actually stands for “Real Person Fic” which confused the CRAP out of him for various reasons. The top reason being that about 10 minutes prior to this conversation he had decided that today was the day he was going to finally look up “Hermitcraft”.
Now, what I presume that he did was simply type “Hermitcraft” into a YouTube search bar, which then provided him with assorted episodes from different Hermits channels, one of which, I am presuming, was from a one ZombieCleo. Now, I’m assuming he picked this one deliberately because it was a name he recognized. I’ve talked about Cleo before, and so he knows I like them, and I ALSO know that because of this he can tell you the names of precisely 2 Hermits: ZombieCleo and BdoubleO - this is important later. The thing with the YouTube algorithm though is that I’m not really 100% sure how it works, as the video that I’m assuming popped up when he searched “Hermitcraft” was not actually a Hermitcraft video.
It was Cleo’s last episode of Limited Life.
And he loved this episode. Thought it was super compelling, loved the storytelling. The thing that confused him was Bdubs. Because obviously in Limited Life, Bdubs is Cleo’s son. Thing is, he ALSO knows about 3rd life, because I talked to him about Crastle duo when 3rd life was still the active season. Where Bdubs was Cleo’s partner.
And he did NOT particularly grasp that these 2 things were separate.
So when I explained to him that “RPF” meant “Real Person Fiction” as in “about real people” he was obviously VERY confused and a little concerned.
Yes I did explain to him that “RPF” in this particular case was used rather loosely because they are in fact playing characters in this sense - Bdubs is obviously not Cleo’s son in real life, they are just friends
Yes he did go look up the rest of the life series.
Yes, despite initial misunderstandings, he has now subscribed to ZombieCleo

Space Channel 5 Gyun Gyun Book p. 62-71. (Translations by @lavoszero and myself. Edit by myself.)
The guide pages for Report 1.
Edit: 5/10/22, fixed an error on page 62.
Imgur link to all of the Gyun Gyun Book translations we’ve done thus far.
Plain text below
P .62
1F Lobby The report first starts off on the 1st floor Lobby, where many frightened people are fleeing! The whole port is in a confused state and people are trapped, we have to do our best to help and free everyone!
Act. 1 Dance You have to press the buttons with the same timing, pay close attention to the different input commands. The second half might feel a little harder than the first half. But it's really about getting used to pressing the buttons to each beat. You don't need to rush, it's even OK to press the button a little late.
Help us! No.09: Guide Lady> P. 103 No.50: Bi Man > P. 110
[Translator’s note: yeah, he literally called Bi Man in Japanese. Most likely referring to him using two colors. You can also call the Guide Lady “Usherette” The text on the image was hard to read but my friend thinks they got it down accurately.]
p. 63
Act. 2 Shooting If you played the first round perfectly, it's recommended to try to make some mistakes on purpose during this act. If you do the 1st set perfectly, then mess up on the 2nd and 3rd, the Green Man will appear during the 4th set. If you rescue him here, then the Purple Man and Space Salaryman will appear in the 5th set!
Help us! No.26: Red and Blue Striped Woman >P. 106 No.32: Green Boy >P. 107 No.38: White Woman >P. 108 No.39: Blue Woman >P. 108 No.40: Pink Woman >P. 109 No.41: Light Blue Woman >P. 109 No.42: Woman in Red >P. 109 No.44: Yellow Boy >P. 109 No.45: Blue Boy >P. 109 No.47: Purple Man >P. 110 No.50: Green Man >P. 110 No.56: Space Salaryman >P. 112
Act. 3 Dance Now, we're dealing with backbeats for the first time. Since you only need to press the A button to the rhythm, it's best to focus on the rhythm. Just keep in mind that the 7th set starts with a backbeat. Don't rush this part, wait for the half beat “u-” before pressing the directional button.
Help Me! No.53: Space Japanese Person >P.111
Column: How to: Making Mistakes on Purpose… If you want to make a mistake on a certain set to get a specific character, you can do it by just pressing "chu" and changing the A and B inputs. You can either do every command with the B button, or you can switch the A with B button or vice versa, so you won't lose your rhythm.
p. 64
Control Tower The Control Tower is really dark, and the foothold is so bad that I might slip and fall. Can I even do my best dance moves here!? But I can't lose to Pudding, an idol reporter from a rival station!
Act. 1 Shooting The "chu" for the 1st set sounds quicker than the actual rhythm, but it's just for this first attack. During the 7th set when it ends after 5 beats, after the "↑", count during those 5 beats by saying "un un…" and then after the wait, you'll be ready to press "BB" successfully.
Help Us! No.05: Spaceport Worker >P.103 No.06: Spaceport Worker (Macho) >P.103 No.07: Spaceport Worker (Tall) >P.103 No.52: Space Rescue Police >P.111
[Translator’s notes: The first two of these it's Ulala commenting but they change it up in the next ones]
p. 65
Act. 2 Shooting The 4th set is the one you really need to pay attention to. If it's too hard to get a hold of the timing, try counting the "un un" after the first "up chu" before pressing the next button. The 7th set makes you switch between pressing the A and B in a similar method. There's an extra beat to wait for before pressing the final "↑", so no need to rush.
Act. 3 Dance At the 6th set, you quickly press "↓" near the end of the 2nd beat. The timing for this one is a little odd. Immediately after the first "↑" followed up by a half-beat "u-" and then "↓". Let's try pressing the buttons to "up down-down." For the 10th and final set, it's a simple input with only using A. But be careful, because it's a feint and can easily catch you by surprise!
Help Us! No.14: Pudding Bodyguard >P.103 No.61: Guitar Man >P.113
Column: Hold Down That Button! You can keep holding down the directional, A, or B button while preforming other inputs and it won’t count as mistake so long as you don’t let go of it. In other words, it's OK to press A while holding down "↑". But when can you use this?
p. 66
Lobby F2 The 2nd Floor lobby is full of women dancing, it's sort of tempting to call it "the woman's shooting gallery." The key feature of this stages is that the key inputs are different from the other stages.
Act. 1 Shooting     If you mess up on the 1st set but do the 2nd perfectly, then you'll be able to find the Green Woman during the 3rd set. This is the only chance to rescue the Green Woman, so don't mess it up. By the 4th set, the Pilot appears. And if you complete all sets perfectly, the Stewardess will appear at the end. The end result from this is a well put together team.
Help Us! No.11: Pilot >P.104 No.13: Green Woman >P.104 No.27: Stewardess >P.106
p. 67
Act. 2 Shooting Even though it feels like there is a half beat between the "A" during the 4th beat and the "↑"on the 5th beat during the 7th set, there's actually none, so it's OK to just keep on pressing through "AA↑." The Boarding Crew appears at the end. If you make too many mistakes after a certain point, she won't appear!
Help Us! No.10: Boarding Crew >P.104 No.12: Middle-aged Woman >P.104
Act. 3 Dance The inputs and rhythm is easy to remember through this act, so even if you don't have that many hearts it shouldn't be that difficult. By the way, the person who's dancing at the end of the stage depends on the ratings were. If it's 90% or more, you'll get Hard Sexy, if you get 89% or less, it'll be the Space Salaryman instead.
Help Me! No.60: Hard Sexy >P.112
Column: The Difficulties of a Salaryman Even if we helped out the Space Salaryman at the Lobby F1, we see him again at the Lobby F2's dance act. This time, he's being forced to dance and worrying about being on time. Why does this salaryman keep on having a rough time!?
p. 68
Luggage Room ~ Container Room With the beautiful glowing rings, and unique BGM, it'll make it feel like even the simplest rhythm will be difficult to follow. There's lots of neat details, such as the luggage being transported through the glowing rings!
Act. 1 Shooting On the 4th set, it's easy to make mistakes since it suddenly switchesit up to a four-beat rhythm, so be careful. Be prepared for it to quickly become Ulala’s turn too. The rhythm may feel complicated because of the BGM’s baseline but it's actually pretty simple; it’s a quarter rhythm scale with nothing extra, so you can relax with it!
p. 69
Act. 2 Shooting Once you're on the 4th set, there's a sequence of quick inputs with quick changes to the beat. If you make a mistake here, it's really difficult to get back into the groove; focus on following the rhythm. And, if it’s difficult to notice when a Morolian appears because of the glowing rings, we recommend listening carefully to their voices!
Act. 3 Dance The sets in this section vary greatly compared to the previous ones, since it's mostly directional inputs. The rhythm is pretty consistent, so all you need to do is pay close attention to the differences in inputs. If you only have a few hearts, be sure not to make any mistakes! You can do a 3-4 count of "un" between each of the inputs to make sure you get the timing right.
Column: A New Kind of Dog? Space dogs have big ears and bounce-bounce around, they're a little different normal, right? Actually, they were born from crossbreeding earthling dogs and dogs from across the universe, literally a new breed of dog. But, as expected, they still can't talk.
p. 70
Launch Pad VS Coco⭐Tapioca From above the rocket comes down the swanky purplink boss, Coco⭐Tapioca. Since there's lots of hearts compared to the number of sequences for each Act, let's boldly dance to the fullest!
Act. 1 The biggest challenge in Act.1 is the quick beats that immediately switch to Ulala's turn after the 4th beat. Especially after you get used to it and suddenly it switches at the sets 7, 8, and 11 where it has 8 beats. If you don't press anything after the 4th beat, it can really mess you up after the 5th beat!
[Translator's notes: Purplink is just a portmanteau of purple and pink.]
p. 71
Dancing Robot Invader No. 1 Coco⭐Tapioca Height: 57 Morometers Weight: 550 Morograms Special: Ring beam, line dancer robots The electric ring beam released from the antennae is super powerful! The line of dancing robots (Yellow Submorons) are stored in its own body.
Act. 2/Act. 3 The first "A" in all the sets in Act. 2 and Act. 3 sound a bit slow, but they're actually still in beat. If you're confused by it, try pressing the button matching the 8 beats at your own pace. If you are mesmerized by the flowing movements of the Yellow Submorons you can also just play it by ear.
Column: The Identity of the Glowing Overhead Rings Green rings appear above the heads of the boss and Ulala during this battle. These rings actually represent the number of "chus" in the phase. If you didn't pay attention to the timing then how could this be a useful hint!?"
[Translator’s notes: The actual unit of measurements are “mooroos” and “morons.” Mooroos is still pronounced like the moro in Morolians. I just thought morometers and morograms was cuter.]

Geats Headcanons.
I figured tumblr bloggers such as @acequinz and @narashikari are always requested by people, me especially, to give us their headcanons for Kamen Rider Geats characters.
I thought, I should balance that out by giving out my own headcanons for the Geats characters.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ukiyo Ace:
The golden coin he always finds in each of his lives acts as his personal ID core and makes him remember his past lives.
He has acquired a lot of skills in his various lives by way of a DGP wish or working hard to learn that certain skillset.
He learned draw and paint by being in the same vicinity as Michelangelo.
He learned to appreciate art in all its forms by being around Shakespeare.
We can also blame his association with Shakespeare to the fact that he knows how to fool someone like Keiwa into giving him the Boost Buckle the first time and how he tricked Keiwa into doing something to get the Ninja Buckle.
His past lives lived a pretty long life, often times going into the hundreds its how he came to be associated with both Shakespeare and Michelangelo.
He has perfect pitch, in which he can determine what note a certain sound makes and if a certain song is off by a note or two.
He has acquired it because of his Rider powers, his awareness of space made him literally aware of everything around him, including sound.
His Rider form’s perfect pitch bled into his civilian form and thus, singer Ukiyo Ace is born.
Ace’s first television role was in a BL as the guy who was literally and figuratively dumped by his on screen boyfriend in front of the trash can.
Suffice to say, he stole the scene and he’s become the star he is today.
Although he was already dubbed Star of the Stars of the Stars by the public even before that because of his ad works.
His first major role was in a drama where his character was killed by his on screen mother because he was an “Impossible Existence”.
Tumblr media
Due to the nature of the DGP, he;s always took on modeling gigs and guest appearances and not a major role.
He got this title with his wish, he’s confident he gets to keep it forever. Afterall his previous lives wishes, he got to keep them, this was no different.
It’s not like he needs to work.
Ever since meeting Neon, he’s made guest appearances in her channel, boosting his and Neon’s popularity.
His company was not a fan of his random appearances but they can’t say he’s breached contract because he’s always appeared on Neon’s videos randomly.
Whenever he eats with anyone like Neon, Keiwa (with or without his sister), and/or Michinaga, he always foots the bill. Neon wouldn’t know how to refuse, Keiwa’s torn between paying for the meals instead or letting Ace pay for it knowing he couldn’t afford what Ace has ordered, Michinaga just clicks his tongue and lets Ace does it anyway.
He’s tried to let his contacts scout both Michinaga and Keiwa but to no avail. He knows they have potential in the entertainment industry, but they’re just afraid of risking it with the two of them.
But due to the beef he and Michinaga shared in the building a home reality show on camera, Michinaga’s gained some fans and he’s still smug about it.
Ace can dance but he needs coaching. It will take him at least a year’s worth of coaching before he can even dance on camera.
Sakurai Keiwa:
Believe it or not, Keiwa entered the hate the world phase.
He had dyed his hair white, hung out with people with questionable attitudes.
He blamed the world for his parents’ death.
It did not help that the hefty sum they inherited from their parents were being spent frugally by his sister.
It also didn’t help that the people who took them in, his mother’s brother, resented both him and his sister because they were added expenses.
They didn’t show it but it was there.
It came to a point where they had to sell a lot of their parents’ belongings and their belongings, including the game console the both of them wanted to buy and got in the same year their parents died.
So yeah he blamed the world for his family woes.
That all changed when his sister fell ill from doing too much.
He was third year in middle school when it happened. While Sara was on the verge of graduating High School (she was second year but details) and they were poised to move out of their uncles home three months after she graduates.
They weren’t kicked out, both she and Keiwa thinks its for the best for both parties.
He was busy ignoring his sister’s rants at her part time jobs when she suddenly collapsed, thankfully she wasn't holding a knife then.
Sara was diagnosed with over-fatigue, and since then Keiwa’s turned over a new leaf, even taking an idealistic approach to life.
One downside being, his idealistic approach was his default answer whenever he was questioned. The reason being if he does stray for that line of thinking, he’d lose the only family he had left. Sara collapsing in front of him traumatized him.
and yes he’s not naive, like a lot of people seem to think he is.
After it was ruled that Sara had better rest from everything, Keiwa took the reigns and hasn’t let go of it since.
He gathered up some courage and asked his uncle’s wife to teach him how to cook., which he was surprisingly good at.
The family has been eating Keiwa’s cooking until they moved out of the house.
He actually expected to take a beating after he blew off his group of misfits for suddenly trying to fit in to the mold, he was rather surprised when they offered him smiles and the best of luck for his new road in life.
He started getting good grades in all of his subjects, he even went as far as trying to learn English on his own, to increase his prospects success may vary, but he’s better than most.
In solidarity with his newfound road in life, Keiwa’s old group recommended him to join a dance group, where he had thrived.
Nowadays, Keiwa barely manages to visit the dance group and dance with them because of his job interviews. He does visit as often as he can.
But with the added responsibility of being a Kamen Rider, he rarely visits the group, he does reassure them he’s fine.
They panicked when Sara asked them where he was, so did Keiwa’s old group  (their memory of panicking over Keiwa was erased from their memory once Keiwa’s was wished back to life.)
Keiwa barely has any knowledge about weapons but as soon as he became Kamen Rider Tycoon, he began to search for weapons and tried to learn how to use them online, its why he was good with a crossbow in his second game.
Official papers say Keiwa’s green band gives him an immense amount of luck, which may be true but one of Keiwa’s greatest strengths is adaptability, he can adapt to any given situation and make things work in his favor, barring sabotage and sneak attacks.
Despite the very modest, very modest, life style they live (apparently Sara sleeps on the couch while Keiwa has a bed, as per the recent episode) they still have a lot of money in the bank and they just spend it frugally and are saving it for emergencies.
Keiwa has made appearances in Neon’s streams, but his back is always on the camera so people often speculate who the tall guy was. It even got to a point where people compared his height to Ace’s height because they thought the mysterious guy was just Ace in disguise and this was also the birthplace of platform heels Ace was born.
Keiwa has been with Neon and Ace a lot that people got a little curious about him, to their respective fanbases, Keiwa’s the mysterious guy that both Ace and Neon knows.
Kurama Neon:
Her streams aren’t limited to her escaping her family home. There are times when she streams while she’s on a trip with her mother.
She also streams whenever she feels like dancing.
As the heiress, she’s lived the loneliest life, even before the reveal of the nature of her existence.
After the incident, she wasn’t allowed to go into schools, until her first year of high school
After meeting Ace for real, the both of them danced for a video, Ace was lucky that Neon wasn’t live streaming.
If its “fight-dancing” Ace can dance very well. He can time his “attacks” to the rhythm of the music, so that’s what she and Ace does in her videos.
Neon is good at baseball, at the very least, she’s a good batter.. She snuck to a batting arena a few times where she was able to hit a lot of the baseballs coming right at her.
She has embraced the cat aesthetic when she was in high school and has been her brand since she started her life as an online personality.
She’s not as bad as the others who always add “nya” in their sentences, which a lot of people found annoying, but she does it with her actions. She once retaliated at Ace in a video imitating a cat scratching an offender, which her audience found cute, (especially Sara)
Michinaga Azuma:
He and Toru were more than brothers.
The both of them just had this mutual understanding about each other.
He was really devastated when Toru died.
He had vowed revenge on every Rider because a Rider killed his best friend.
His angry personality has landed him and Toru in various troubles.
After living life as an orphan, he learned to stand up for himself and become the top dog in no time.
Michinaga has joined the DGP for a total of eight times, ever since Toru’s death, not counting the JGP and DR.
Sumida Kanato:
After retiring from the DGP, he has gained friends. He has learned not to push people away.
Which led him to living a peaceful life, not wishing for the world’s destruction.
Koganeya Morio:
After retiring from the DGP, he has surrendered himself to police custody.
And while he’s still skeevy, he doesn’t con his way into and out of situations.
Ganaha Sae:
Aside from Nadge-Sparrow, he’s the only other Rider that can match Ace in athleticism, she might even surpass him. Ace just has an advantage over her just by being aware of his surrounding space,
Sae is the only other Rider that has utilized a lot of the buckles to their potential without being harmonized with them.
One of Sae’s fears was to see her siblings fight in the DGP alongside her.
Ace has offered to sponsor her athletics career one time, but she almost decked him in the face after she joined the DGP for the second time.
After Michinaga, Sae has joined in the DGP the most times, by five.
well that’s all I have for now, it was fun racking my brains for these headcanons.

~Help finding a nsft horror J-Drama CD~
You can skip down to the bottom for some Tldr. TW list below the cut. Certain words will be censored. MC = you the self insert main character. Questions are encouraged. Dm's open. Open to dark j-drama audio suggestions! Suggest me the juicy m4m yandere CDs.
Tumblr media
I don't know where to start this off, especially since it's pretty niche. Okay so, years ago on Youtube long before the rise of asmr & voice acting channels, there were channels dedicated to posting translated nsft j-drama CDs & audios.
I cannot find the channels anymore, I cannot find people talking about my particular audio, I cannot find the playlists saved on my YouTube. I have tried many variations of wording on Google & tried Reddit. I even asked some of my friends if they have any idea, but like I said, it's niche. I would try searching through the chaos that is this site but we all know about the anti-nsft endtimes that occured once upon a time.
These channels sometimes got taken down but not all the time due to them being small channels & the videos being in a different language. Though maybe after all these years they're finally gone?
They were pretty raunchy, some were cropped from a longer audio & some were part of a series. Some were yandere, tsundere, boyfriend and all the additional tropes. The MC's most of the time were female or gender neutral, some were m4m. I doubt the thumbnail art were official to the CD/audio & some channels would link to their or others Tumblr account/s or mention sources.
There were many good ones but there was ONE in particular that has FOREVER stuck with me.
Tumblr media
Tw: yandere, dark story, nsfw/l, death, s-icide, messing with the dece-sed, tanning of human skin, mental health, unhealthy relationship.
So, judge me all ya want but here I goooooo.
This particular translation was either part of a series of CDs/audios containing the same character & story or of a much longer audio that was then trimmed. The voice acting for the love interest was one of a very mentally ill character & there is nsft naughty audio. The self insert/MC is very likely to be female due to the . . . Overt noises that occur.
The romantic interest was a male yandere character who comes across the MC washed up on a rocky cliff coastline. They are hinted at having jumped or fallen, especially since previous bodies that washed up are from s-icides. I believe the MC had amnesia and the love interest was nursing them back to health from the brink of death.
This was the first body he had come across that was alive and during this audio he was admitting his feelings towards them. The audio clearly spoke back to the characters previous experiences getting to look after the MC (you) & getting close with eachother.
I can't remember how they got to this point in the dialogue but either the MC figured it out or the love interest admitted that his leather bags & furniture were made out of human skin. The skin coming from the cörpses he fished up from the cliffs which he would then tan.
I do believe he might of also turned his family into pieces of his "art" but I might be incorrect as I was also listening to other CD's/audios during that time. I'm not too sure if he k-lled his family, they had an accident near the cliffs or whatever else.
He was a very lonely character who is very unwell in his mind. He might of also had thoughts of also j-mping off the very same cliffs, but that might have also been the MC. Either or.
Eventually they end up doing the down & dirty in his bed. A+ for having actual good audio for the nsfw noises. A+ for my first ever audio sound experince. A+ for derranged voice acting. A+ for making my skin crawl from absolute creepiness. A+++ for being forever stuck in my mind ever since then.
Tumblr media
This audio has stuck with me for many years even with how dark it is & because of how dark it is. I would love to find it again! I wish to experince this creepy audio anime man once again and his very unhealthy relationship with you the MC.

Tldr; crazy yandere male love interest who turns washed up cörpses skin into furniture & bags. MC also found washed up but was alive, is nursed back to health by the love interest. Admits to them about his "art" pieces. Ends up having smëx. Drama CD/audio is most likely part of a series or of a longer audio, I discovered it on YouTube many years ago. I cannot find anyone talking about this audio.

It's not that people are pro slavery, it's just that a threat to members of the 1% who also suck, is very low on their priority list. The a'dam is the Randland equivalent of "eat the rich". Awful to do, but fun to talk about. We meet Joline in Ebou Dar going @ Merilille because Merilille embarrassed her in class 80+ YEARS AGO. No wonder the Seanchan with Mat aren't as impressed as Egeanin was by N&E (any good seen in Teslyn or Edesina they will attribute to their having been collared already).
Also from this anon:
"He even approves of Olver bowing and making much of Tuon." She's a crown princess. Slavery has nothing to do with it. Remember the alternative to the Seanchan is still an aristocracy. A lot of Tuon's assholery is just slight exaggerations of what nobles might expect in the "good" countries. Darlin to Carline's "cousins" = nice & polite "I want to see my country free" Darlin to Mat = "You will be honored to die on the blade of High Lord Darlin, peasant!" Not too different to Turak in GH.
Briefly:
even if women who channel were "the 1%" in the sense that we mean it when talking about people like Bezos, etc. (and they are not) they still would not deserve to be enslaved and treated like animals. Even if someone hates Aes Sedai that much, there are tons of women who can channel who are NOT Aes Sedai but who would get swept up by the Seanchan as well -- the Windfinders, the Wise Ones, the Kin, and all the undiscovered channelers in various places across the continent.
regular people who can't channel ALSO get enslaved by the Seanchan - they are called da'covale and there are TONS of them. Da'covale are just as relevant to any discussion of the Seanchan system of slavery as damane.
I have plenty of criticism for the aristocracy as well, and I am no fan of feudalism and there are, of course, plenty of abuses under that system as well. But I've argued strenuously that the Two Rivers never needed a Lord, for example. And the Two Rivers also served as an example (pre-Perrin's Lording) of a society that ISN'T based on aristocracy. And I very much approved of Rand making it so that laws in the countries he rules apply equally to nobles as they do to everyone else. My criticism of the Seanchan system of slavery doesn't mean that I'm letting everyone else off the hook.
part of the whole issue that I have with Tuon in CoT is how persistently the book acts like her being a slaver isn't a big deal. Slavery has EVERYTHING to do with it. And Mat cared about slavery in Winter's Heart.
Mat isn't supposed to be the guy who approves of bowing and scraping to nobles, but somehow he becomes that guy for Tuon, the slaver. Again, where was that The Shadow Rising energy here?
Joline being kinda petty and overemotional sometimes is very much NOT the same as being a slaver, in terms of negative character traits. This is the exact issue that I was talking about, how CoT!Mat acts like character flaws on the parts of the Aes Sedai make them "just as bad" as the sul'dam literally wanting to enslave them again.
re: your other recent asks
I'm not certain what distinction you're making here between a 'natural' leader and a 'good' leader. You say that Perrin's a natural but bad at it but that... is completely counter to how I would use the phrase 'natural leader', which implies some level of competence at leading. So I think our disagreement here is one about wording rather than actually disagreeing about Perrin? So, to rephrase, I don't think Perrin is "naturally good at leading" and probably should have actually listened to people's advice sometimes. It sounds like we agree he's a bad leader (at this point in the books).
Your speculation about Sulin going with Perrin because Rand's self-isolating is one of those things that does make a lot of sense as a head-canon but that is never really suggested or implied in-text, at least not that I can remember.
Same about Rand avoiding the Black Tower because he mistrusts Logain's PoV. Or, rather, I kinda put that in the bucket of "Jordan making up an excuse because he hadn't figured out how he was going to solve the problem of the Black Tower yet". Rand essentially has no plot in CoT at all and the Black Tower would have been A Plot for him to actually have here, which would have been nice.

For the redacted match ups!! Thank you ily no rush!! <333
The song I’m fixated on right now is probably Saturn by Sleeping At Last! “With shortness of breath / You explained the infinite / And how rare and beautiful it is to even exist / I couldn't help but ask for you to say it all again / I tried to write it down, but I could never find a pen / I'd give anything to hear you say it one more time / That the universe was made just to be seen by my eyes”
I’m an enneagram 5w4! I can never decide my mbti, something along the lines of istp or intp or entp but not estp ??? This plagues me
I love love love big youtube video essays, I’m not sure if i can pick a specific favorite!! They’re pretty much all I watch if that helps, and I have a lean toward informational ones— like, about real world events and history rather than about media— although certain media ones are really good too.
My imaginary friend’s name was Nobody. Like.. genuinely thats what i called him. I knew he wasn’t real but i felt left out ‘cause everyone else had one so when people were around I would pretend i had an imaginary friend. An imaginary imaginary friend named Nobody. He had a family too; his siblings were named Somebody and Everybody. Hell yeah
My go to way to fall asleep is in a sea of pillows (they keep my bones in place), big puffy comforter thats too big for my bed, window open, listening to podcasts til like 3am (or whenever sleep happens)
I have changed my name, and I picked it because it shares a nickname with my birth name and has the same initial— an easier transition for everyone else, they could just say my nickname if they didn’t want to say my new one. It even sounds similar. I do like the name, but it beat the other options because of that.
The first one that comes to mind as my favorite is the video where Sam heals Darlin (Vampire Tends To Your Injuries)— it was the first one I listened to and easily the one I’ve listened to the most. I’m a whore for hurt/comfort and that specific energy was too good, the mutual care and growing trust without strings attached, waaaah. I’m also really fond of the one where Avior helps Starlight sleep (Comforted By Your Demon) and the imperium one Specifically when Milo is talking to Asher about David (the beginning of Cataclysm: Last Wish) and the pain in the acting its SO GOOD. Probably my favorite bit of acting specifically from the channel, and the only scene thats made me cry. I just love when characters let down their walls and are vulnerable with each other its real good
The redacted boy who holds no appeal to me… im so sorry its caelum im so sorry it gets worse its not just caelum its huxley too i dont think i have a good reason theyre too nice and as for caelum i have a small brother i cant take any more
“Tell me about that one book/movie/tv show you know all the words to.” Don’t say that you dont know what youre getting into. Its the entire warrior cats franchise and im ending the conversation here before i start (more socially acceptable answer: The Song of Achilles)
Hmmm I’d love to be best friends with James!!
When im tired i will usually go off about whatever random problem im concerned about that day, my most common recently is my rage about leopard print vs cheetah print WHY IS THE CHEETAH GIRLS LOGOS AND STUFF LEOPARD PRINT. THE CHEETAH. GIRLS. WHY DOES EVERYONE THINK LEOPARD PRINT IS CHEETAH??? THEY LOOK DIFFERENT??? WHATS GOING ON???
Gas station snack and drink combo is usually green tea, I dont often get snacks there so im like trying so hard to figure out what id get or whats there… oo pretzels maybe
I cant tell you about my favorite playlist because i have one (1) playlist ive had since i was 14 and its just everything ive ever listened to ever, if im in a specific mood ill usually just look up the artist, recently its been a lot of Sleeping at Last and Novo Amor
I have no guilty pleasures im unapologetically me babey (its webkinz) (not the site Just the plushies) (best plushies and im very right about this)
Im sleepy and i love my cat and i would very much like to just cuddle that dang thing all day but alas, society calls. Despite this im a workaholic and not being on my feet at all times getting stuff done stresses me out in a major way— cant be stressed if im asleep, though!:D Also i eat raw potatoes on the regular (easy 2 prepare just take it out the cupboard pop it in ur mouth bb) and recently have started putting peas in my water boba style (or perhaps like a duck?) because i dont like water but i do like frozen peas and in this situation like 1 in 10 sips Theres A Dang Pea In There! This method has gotten me to drink more water than i have in probably years
Tumblr media
You know who would know what they’re getting into and would love it? Ollie, who was definitely a Warrior Cats kid.
You say that you’re a workaholic, and Type Fives are characterized by their capability and competency… and yet, I get really fun, goofball vibes from you that I think Ollie would really love and get along with.
You’re both hard workers, curious, and diligent, but at home, you could be chill and just be with each other, be yourselves with each other. You with your Webkinz and your Warrior Cats and him with his Star Trek- it’s a lovely, comfortable home you have that’s utterly unique to the both of you.
Coming home everyday would be a delight, a reward after a long day of work. Ollie’d grab takeout on the way, orange chicken for him and whatever’s your favorite, and he’d settle in for the night, chopsticks in hand, saying “tell me about the difference between leopard and cheetah print, Babe.”
Song:
They say in Heaven, love comes first/ We'll make Heaven a place on Earth/ Ooh, Heaven is a place on Earth
Ollie strikes me as the kind of dude who loves cheesy, 80’s pop; like, I can see him busting through the door with the aforementioned takeout and just bopping. It’s also just a really cute song about the person you love and the space you make together being Heaven, and I love that for y’all.
Runner-Ups:
I like Avior for you on an Enneagram basis; along with the competency and capability, there’s a dogged curiosity there that, I think, Avior would admire and would keep him on his toes. Regulus is purely because of the imaginary friend tidbit; there’d be something poetic about him taking place of your Nobody and making himself your real imaginary friend. I could totally do something with that.
Note: thank for you the Sleeping At Last song rec~ I love his whole Enneagram album, so I’ve been meaning to get into more of his discography 🧡

Lost Traveler Creepypasta
Tumblr media
Diego, a lonely, reserved and cold boy in the poor orphanage. He was born to a beautiful woman and a messy man, but the man was married, his wife discovered the betrayal and wanted to kill the baby. His father had to leave him so that his wife doesn't kill him and also, he didn't want to have another child and neither did his mistress, so he had to abandon him for his own benefit, Diego interprets that he was left as if it was a bag of garbage, what had really happened, in a way, is totally irrelevant to Diego, he always mentally cursed that his biological parents were nothing more than immature and useless adults, he hoped that his wife had killed his father and his mistress in the worst possible way without leaving any trace. Diego was called "weird boy"at the orphanage for the other children, even with the nuns and the owner of the place. It was not an insult to the boy Demetriou, because he recognizes that he is very different from other children, he is very proud of it, he was intelligent, quite skilled in athletic activities and talked to adults as if he were one of them. It may sound like these characteristics don't make sense of strangeness, they should be proud of being a special child, but there is always a ''but'' in many people, no matter how much he is a prodigy, he has no character, he doesn't cares for no one but himself, manipulates children to do what he wants, especially girls, and has caused the nuns a lot of trouble.
Other things that few people there know about him, he has certain grotesque and disgusting thoughts, something with blood, human body organs from outside and many macabre things far from God. When he turned 14, he was finally going to be adopted, giving relief to the odd boy's children and nuns, he hadn't liked it one bit, so one dark night, he'd climbed out of his bed to set up the utterly unforgivable. In the morning, the family that was going to adopt him arrived at the orphanage to pick him up, he said goodbye to the nuns, the children and the owner saying that he missed them all with tears on his face. Were those tears sincere? Three days into his new home, he was in the living room with his new parents, drinking tea he had made for them, the television was on playing his favorite soap opera, until the program was interrupted by the breaking news channel, the orphanage he was staying in caught fire at ten o'clock the night after the day he left, killing the children, the nuns and the owner, the only survivors were just two nuns and a baby.
He had his eyes wide open on the television screen, his family tried to console the boy for having lost his friends, he left the room sighing going to his room, his parents were sad for him, they would wait for him to take out the anguish alone and then enter the room to talk to him. While Diego in his room kneeling on the floor, breathing heavily, tears streaming down his face, but not tears of sadness, he opened a devilish smile, small laughs came out of his mouth, he covered his face to stifle his sadistic laugh to look like he was crying to their parents. He was the one who did it, the boy that night before leaving, he made a trap in the basement of the orphanage, he spread gasoline inside, over the door, there was a shelf with a lamp that is lit by candle, he put a small string so that whoever opened it the door, would end up pulling the rope to drop the lantern to fall to the floor and break releasing the small gasoline fire on the floor. Diego was nothing more than a homicidal and self-centered narcissist, he wanted everything in his superiority, he manipulated his adoptive family to be perfect, like the best family ever, always happy and following their roles as father and mother. Everything went as planned for Diego, he managed to get rich, he was immensely popular at school, that typical playboy that the girls loved, and the man that the boys considered as an inspiration. His life was like royalty, it was his greatest happiness, however, "this happiness", it was his sin, he didn't conquer anything to have this paradise, it was cheating and a disguise to hide his dark side. He came home tired from having so much fun with things he didn't deserve. His family was expecting him with a small visit. In the living room, there was a little girl sitting on the sofa, she had long hair, it was as black as darkness, she had bright blue eyes, she was wearing a dress that looked like a gray nightgown and black sneakers. The girl looked to be 9 or 10 years old, she was smiling looking at Diego who had a strange feeling about the little girl, her parents said she was his distant cousin, her name was Helena, she came to meet him, the girl got off the couch and ran towards him to hug him. He returned the hug hoping it would be as warm as any child's empathy, when she was in his arms, he felt that her skin was terribly cold, he would open his mouth to tell his parents to take her to the doctor, but the child grabbed he by the neck with a totally disproportionate strength for a child, she pulled his head so that his eyes looked into her eyes that were blue as beautiful as water seconds ago changing to bizarrely horrifying eyes. The boy was scared, he didn't understand what was happening to the little girl, as he tried to stop looking at her, "Helena" kept changing to a totally bizarre appearance, her teeth were huge, her hair became blacker than before , floating as if it had no gravity, diamond-shaped marks appeared at the corner of her lips, her dress grew longer, forming a black robe with white edges. The boy looked with a scared expression saying low "Helena?", the creature replies, "Helena... she looks like me, she is a dead child, I am also a dead child, my name is... Kardama", Diego changed his scared look to a look that saw something wonderful, "Kardama?... Kardama...Kardama dead child", the creature smiled showing his teeth similar to a vampire, Diego ends up fainting. Diego was in a nightmare, the people he killed and manipulated were attacking him, Diego defended himself from the attacks with a kitchen knife, as he stabbed people, a headache hit him, after he killed his schoolmate who was in love with him, he felt something sharp on his back and it was burning, it was Helena, so in anger he turned around and stabbed her skull without any mercy, then I fell to the ground exhausted and did not remembers nothing more of the nightmare.
He just remembered the burning sensation and an agonizing hunger. After a long time he finally wakes up with a strange taste in his mouth, his clothes were filthy with blood, his mouth was drooling, his teeth hurt and he had very strange meat crumbs. He was in the forest, when he got up he saw a trail of human pieces and blood that led to the city. Where he was, he panicked, running all over the place, screaming so loud you could hear his voice for miles and writhing ridiculously on the floor. He stayed there until he calmed down, everything was a mess, there was nothing left of him, his glory and people he needed were taken away from him. Rather, they were saved. Diego was leaning against the tree looking at the moon, waiting for an idea to come up to do, his ideas were interrupted by the presence of the bizarre girl, she reached out to him without saying a word, he refused for a few seconds, but he remembered that it was all over for him, if he came back he would be arrested for the crimes he committed, so he shook the girl's hand and that gesture completely changed his life.

American Dragon: Jake Long retro-review
Tumblr media
American Dragon: Jake Long is a series that was created by Jeff Goode. The series aired on Disney Channel from January 21, 2005 to September 1, 2007. It has 52 episodes (22 minutes each, a few divided by two 11 minutes segments). The first season consists of 21 episodes. The second season has 31 episodes. The series also had a crossover episode with Lilo and Stitch The Series called  "Morpholomew".
Show premise
American Dragon:Jake Long is about a 13 year old Chinese-American boy named Jake Long who plays the role of protector for all magical creatures in United States. He is able transform into a dragon when he pleases, a power he inherited from his maternal side of the family. Guided by grandfather, Luong Lao Shi, Jakes tries to balance his life between being a regular teenager and dragon magical protector, something that it isn’t always as easy as it sounds.
Plot and structure
One thing that made this series stand out from other shows of its era was that there was a bigger storyline that developed through the seasons. Every 4-5 episodes there were events that changed the status quo or continued the story. Characters developed and were explored in different ways throughout the series too.
Season 1 is more episodic with the episodes often acting as standalone stories rather than adding to the bigger narrative. Every 4 episodes or so the main arc is explored or new lore is revealed. Despite of this, the stories still remained to fun. There is still character development and things that are set up for Season 2 arcs.  There are a few episodes that are divided in two 11 minutes segments for some reason. My only guess is that they were still experimenting with the format and seeing which one worked better for the show.
In Season 2 the writing and direction overall changes notably. There is a lot more emphasis in the main story arcs and there are some subplots in between as well, keeping the show more enganging. The series’ tone becomes more darker while maintaining the humor from the first season in character development episodes. In my opinion, this season has a good balance between ¨plot episodes¨ and ¨character episodes¨. For every 2-3 ¨character episodes¨ there is one ¨plot episode¨. That way it doesn’t feel it is going too slow or too rushed. Season 1 had less continuity when compared to Season 2. In addition to this, there is more emotional depth in the stories. As i was rewatching the series, i felt like the characters were given a lot more dimension to them. Their issues became more personal. Some episodes were dedicated to explore how they felt about certain important event and how they dealt with it.
If there is one complain i have of this season is that after the episode ¨Homecoming¨ the main story looses it focus and there isn’t more proper set up for the other main arc. This could be traced back to the fact that these two main stories were supposed to be in two different seasons and the team felt forced to writer them all in one long season in case the show got cancelled.
Another issue is that some important plot episodes like  "Homecoming" and  "The Hong Kong Longs" should have been 44 minute episodes to cover all the things that happen in them. Because they only last 22 minutes, this makes the events feel very rushed, specially in "The Hong Kong Longs" it ruins important character beats.
Characters and arcs
While i talked about how American Dragon has a big plot, the core of the series is its characters and their relationships. The main focus of the show is Jake trying to balance his teenager daily life with his guardian dragon duties. This means most episode conflicts center around him learning things or developing in some way.
The main cast consist in:
Jake Long: The main protagonist and star of the show
Luong Lao Shi: Jake’s grandfather and teacher. He used to be the Chinese Dragon when he was younger and is able to transform in a dragon just like Jake.
Fu Dog: A 600 year old magical talking dog that helps Lao and Jake in their missions.
Trixie Carter: One of Jake’s best friends. She earlier learns about his dragon identity and helps him in many missions.
Arthur P. "Spud" Spudinski: The other Jake’s best friend. He learns about Jake’s dragon identity at same time as Trixie and helps him in many missions.
Haley Kay Long: Jake’s little sister. She is a child prodigy and she is able to use her dragon powers yet not as powerful as Jake’s.
Susan Luong-Long: Jake and Haley’s mother and Lao Shi’s dauther. The dragon powers skipped her generation.
Jonathan Long: Jake and Haley’s father. He is a normal human and he doesn’t know anything about the existence of magical creatures, including Jake and Haley’s dragon powers.
Rose/Huntsgirl: A popular girl that Jake has a crush on. Very early in the series it is revealed that she works for the main antagonists, the Huntsclan. Over time she develops feelings for Jake and eventually learns about his dragon identity. This leads her to change her ways and help Jake with stopping the Huntsclan.
Main antagonists:
The Huntsclan: A fanatic cult like human group who is always hunting magical creatures and becomes a bigger treat as the plot advances. In plenty of episodes, Jake and other dragons’s role is to protect the magical creatures from the Huntsclan  They are lead by the the Huntsman, who serves as master figure for Rose. The Dark Dragon: Not much is known about him except that he is a dragon that once turned evil centuries ago. He is a powerful dragon and his human identity is never revealed in the series. He appears less often than the Huntsclan but he is still a very dangerous adversary.
As you can see, the series has a big cast. This doesn’t mention all the secondary characters there are in the show, which often new get introduced every 2-3 episodes.
Most of the episodes focus in exploring or developing Jake in someway. Jake is a very flawed protagonist who usually can be selfish and act without thinking. In the first episodes he has the habit of abusing his dragon powers to ¨cheat¨ through life and this ends up getting him in trouble. His huge ego is a facade he uses to hide his insecurities, which he learns to overcome over time. Despite his attitude problems, he always tries helping magical creatures in need and really cares about his family and friends. He takes pride in being a magical protector, a role that is important to him.
Tumblr media
He also has a very complicated relationship with Rose. At the start of the series he falls in love with her without knowing that she works for the Huntsclan. The same applies to Rose, with her not knowing that Jake is also his mortal enemy. Over time they learn each other’s secret identity and Rose decides to help Jake with stopping the Huntsclan. Their relationship is one of the things that is constanly changing in almost every episode when the plot is about them and its one of the best written parts of the show. Usually there is a problem with how animated shows potray teenage romance but with Jake and Rose’s case is executed very well. What’s more, it a good example of how to do enemies to lovers right and the complications that cause to the characters involved.
If there is one problem i have about their dynamic is that i wish Rose could have had episodes or more scenes exploring her character without Jake having to be in it. I think the series does a decent job at establishing that Rose has a life outside Jake. However, more scenes developing how she feels or her story would have helped her character overall. For example: An episode about how she was raised in the Huntsclan.
Moving on to the rest of the cast, i think the series does a good job a developing most of them. They get their own episodes and side plots showing different sides of their personality and lives. One thing i appreciate about the show is that it has episodes in which the main focus isn’t on Jake but other characters. This helps giving the show more variety and developing these characters. For instance: One of my favourite episodes from Season 1 "Keeping Shop" involves Trixie and Spud taking charge of Jake’s dragon duties while he and his grandfather are busy elsewhere. Fu takes the role of master here and teaches Trixie and Spud how to use dragon powers with a enchanted dragon disguise.
There are episodes that develop Jake’s relationship with his family too. Most of them are great and have sweet moments. Jake has a good chemistry with every member of his family and, because of this, an episode can have a different ¨feel¨ to it depending on the relationship that is being developed.
American Dragon has tons of secondary characters. Some are more memorable than others depending on their story and their evolution. Some are funny while others are more interesting. It’s quite impressive how the writers were able to introduce new every 2-3 episodes and still managed to make it work.
However, in spite of having all these positive things, there are some problems. For starters, not all characters get the same level of development. Trixie is one character i believe that it should have had more than one episode about her perspective. Maybe having to choose between a career she likes and her parents career. Or her romantic relationship with Kyle.
Jake has a few episodes of him learning lessons that he already learned more than one time. Part of this can be excused because it this is a show from the earlier 2000′s and continuity was harder to execute back in those days. The biggest offender of this is  "Game On", an episode that would fit well in Season 1 or early Season 2. Not near the end of the series when Jake has grown past this lesson.
On last point, some secondary characters feel that they have potential was never given proper time to be explored. For instance, Nigel Thrall is set up to be a foil and friendly rival to Jake in his debut episode...to barely do anything with him. I think this comes from the writers trying to put to major plot threads that were supposed to be in two seasons and not in one. This likely lead to some concepts to not be given proper continuation.
These flaws can be a bit frustrating but they didn’t take my enjoyment out of the show. I think that as long as one keeps in mind that this is an old show and the problems it had during its production, it is fun to watch.
On lore and worldbuilding
I think one of the aspects that kept me enganged during my rewatch was how each episode would introduce some new element about the magical world and how it works. It’s actually intriguing. Every magical creature has its own powers, culture and society. This helped the series with not making it feel repetitive and always have something new to be interested in. I really like how the show team didn’t limit themselves to have two or three types of magical creatures and instead did a little bit of everything. It gives off the impression that the magical world is as big, if not bigger, than the human world. The series often uses dragon lore to represent certain themes such as the changes Jake goes through with his powers as a metaphor for puberty.
Gerenal animation and sound aspect.
For most part the animation looks solid. It’s nothing amazing but it works well for an action adventure show. Some action sequences are entertaining to watch. The characters have fun expressions.
Tumblr media
(Jake and Lao’s dragon form designs in Season 2 art style) If there is one aspect American Dragon is controversial for is the the huge change in art direction in Season 2. Most of the characters got a new design, the art style changed to a angular simplified one. Some magical creatures looked like different species from the ones of Season 1. I personally prefer the art style of Season 1. It has a cartoonish vibes to it. It’s more pleasant to see and it fits better the tone of the show. I don’t dislike Season 2 style, in fact, i got used to it rather quickly. My main issue is that it feels more ¨stiff¨ and less expressive the Season 1 artstyle.
As for the voice cast, it’s pretty good. There are some well known voice actors here such as: Dante Basco ( Jake Long), John DiMaggio (Fu Dog), Mae Whitman (Rose). Although there are maybe some secondary characters that didn’t have the best choice and aren’t that good, the main cast does have solid voice actors to make up for that.
On the soundtrack, it is okay from what i heard. It improves in Season 2, probably because there is better direction in that season. They music has a bigger emotional impact to it than it had in the first season.
Representation stuff
I don’t feel like i’m the best to fully judge this aspect of the series. There are some things that haven’t aged well, being a series of 2000′s. There are some innapropiate jokes that wouldn’t be get a pass nowadays and a few writing choices in a few episodes that are rather... questionable.
Something i appreciate about the series is how Jake is mixed race ( chinese-european). His mother and grandfather are chinese and his sister is mixed race. His father is white/european. They all get their own episodes to get developed. There some episodes that explore Jake’s chinese part of the family such as when he visits them in  "Feeding Frenzy" or when Lao teaches Jake about their culture.
One of my favourite episodes.  "Year of the Jake", is about Jake learning to be more involved with his chinese heritage and see to the value in it when he makes the mistake of cleaning the ¨good luck¨ out of his granfather’s shop. The episode takes place during Chinese New Year inuniverse. There are some scenes of the rest of Jake’s family participating in the parade, which is pretty cool.
The female characters in this show are able to stand on their own ground and are treated as their own person. I like the writing choice of not making Trixie Jake’s girlfriend and instead Jake having a crush in other characters. (Mainly Rose). I do wish that Rose had a few episodes about her without Jake having to be in it. Maybe some interactions with Trixie or Hayley, for example. I like her character but i feel like she could have had more screen time for her own.
About the episode order
In a minor note, American Dragon had its episodes airing out of order for some reason. This lead to errors in continuity if they are not watched in the proper order. Things that should have happened took place later, episodes that were supposed to take place before an specific plot point aired later.
Luckily some fans have found the correct watching order, which was very useful for me during my rewatch. This changes quite a lot the pacing of the series too. If any of you ever considers watching this series, i highly suggest using the episode guide to avoid continuity errors and confusion.
In conclusion
American Dragon: Jake Long is a fun series that has aged quite well despite all the years that have passed since it finished airing. It has good charcater arcs, interesting worldbuilding and solid story arcs. It’s capable of having emotional and dark moments without fully loosing the tone that was previously established.
While Season 1 is more episodic, i recommend watching all the episodes for the characters dynamics and development that becomes important in Season 2. Season 2 improves a lot in writing and direction. Most of the episodes are worth of watching since they add things to the characters or the overall story.
After finishing my rewatch, i think it has become one of my favourites Disney shows from that era. It’s not perfect, but it still manages to be an entertaining show.

Exclusive! An Interview with Glynnis Campbell the voice of Julie Winters in MTV’s The Maxx!
We here at Sarah and Julie’s Road Trip got the chance to sit down with the voice of Julie Winters herself Glynnis Campbell. A special thank you to Mrs. Campbell for taking the time to reflect on a brief period in her professional life that has meant so much to so many of us. Glynnis is a true joy and It’s safe to say she was as enthusiastic to talk to us as we were to meet her.
So ladies and Gentleman, Maxxheads of all ages, without further ado, sit back and enjoy a morning with Julie Winters.
Sarah and Julie’s Roadtrip: You have had a long and very interesting career that’s still going, spanning multiple professions that are very different from one and other. How did you get into voice acting?
Glynnis Campbell: First, thank you so much for interviewing me. It’s always a delight to make contact with people who like my work. And you’re so right about multiple careers! Sometimes I still wonder what I want to be when I grow up. Voice acting was an offshoot of singing, which I did all through school. I have a degree in Vocal Performance, so I sang opera at college and rock-and-roll on the weekends. That got me a contract with CBS Records in the all-girl rock band, The Pinups. The singing was fun, but the business was sketchy. Still, I loved the mic, so when the group burned out, it was an easy pivot to voiceover acting.
2. How did you get your part in The Maxx?
My voice coach, Johnny Rabbitt, let me know about the audition and said he thought I’d be a perfect fit. I wasn’t represented by an agent at the time, so I just went in and did a cold read for Rough Draft Studios
3. Were you ever into comic books?
As a girl, I had a huge crush on Aqualad and the Teen Titans. Every time I visited my grandma, she’d buy me a comic book from the drugstore. I visited frequently!
4.  Did you know what The Maxx was before the Cartoon?
I’d never heard of The Maxx. But that’s only because the comics of my youth were definitely meant for kids, so I stopped reading them. It never occurred to me that the comic audience might have changed, that current comics told deeper, more complex stories.
5.  How would you describe Julie Winters?
More than anything, Julie Winters is a survivor. Life has left her badly damaged, but she’s managed to hold off (or embrace?) insanity with a lot of fascinating coping mechanisms—assigning characters to her emotions, finding interdependence with a fictional figure, creating alternate worlds in her mind. Her snarkiness keeps her from succumbing to depression, and her mental strength helps her battle her inner demons.
 6. Did you like working on the show?
I absolutely LOVED working on The Maxx! It’s a rare treat to work with the whole cast while recording. Most productions are scheduled and recorded one character at a time. For The Maxx, two or three of us would be in the recording booth together, able to interact with and respond to each other. It was magical. I found Barry Stigler, who voiced Mr. Gone, deliciously evil. Since he preferred to stay in character, I cut him a wide berth! And I adored Michael Haley, who was a big, cuddly bear, so the affection you hear in my voice is real.
7. How did you prepare for voicing Julie and Lil’ Julie?
I’ve been told I may have invented vocal fry! The truth was I wanted to give Julie a kicked-back sort of sardonic sound, like she was talking to herself. I’d heard that kind of self-assured, intimate tone from late night radio DJs. So I was channeling a male voice to a certain extent! For Lil’ Julie, it’s always been easy for me to access the little girl I used to be—innocent, pure, uncertain—so it was just a matter of reverting to that age with my voice.
8. Was it a challenge to voice some of the other, minor characters on the show like Glorie and the Cabbie victim?
The most fun for me in doing voice work is inhabiting a wide cast of characters, slipping into the skin of someone completely different. I’ve voiced everything from a little boy to a singing tomato, from a rubber duck to the Queen of Blades. I like the challenge of changing my sound enough to fool the listener into believing it’s a completely different actor.
9. Didn’t your performance on The Maxx land you the role of our beloved Sarah Kerrigan in Starcraft?
Speaking of the Queen of Blades… Yes, Blizzard originally wanted a Julie Winters voice for Diablo, so I was cast as The Rogue and Gillian the Barmaid. After the success of that game, I went on to voice Sarah Kerrigan and The Medic for Starcraft.
10. Did you get to interact with the rest of the cast and crew on The Maxx?
While recording The Maxx, I got to interact with other members of the cast, which as I mentioned is rare in recording. I enjoyed hanging out and listening to the other actors between my scenes. The Rough Draft directors were very warm and encouraging, and it was kind of a kick to take an occasional peek at what the animators were up to.
11. So Sam Kieth, the creator of the comic series, was heavily involved in the creation of the cartoon as a consultant. The cartoon is probably one of the most faithful comic book adaptions ever produced. Mr. Kieth is also known to be very reclusive, even with friends. Did you ever get to meet Sam Kieth?
I did meet Sam Kieth, and if I’d known how reclusive he was, I might have taken a photo. He came in one day during recording. I remember thinking he reminded me of a little boy, absolutely delighted with what all of us had done with his creation. His enthusiasm was contagious.
12. To put it lightly, the Maxx is very different and it tackles a lot of themes that are still highly controversial nearly thirty years later. Did any of your friends and family ever watch the show, if so, what did they think of it?
My friends and family watched the show, but I’m not sure they understood the story or related to the characters. Honestly, I think they were just excited that I was on MTV.
13. The Maxx’s story is very impressionistic, and it’s all intentionally left up to audience interpretation. How would you describe The Maxx cartoon and what would you say it was about?
I’m always hesitant to comment on the story, because you’re right, it IS impressionistic, and I feel like everyone takes away what they need. The thing that most surprised me, and I hope this doesn’t sound egotistical, is that despite the title being The Maxx, the main character really is Julie Winters. The series is all about her trauma, her pain, her reality, and how she manages to navigate through her world. The characters and symbolism come from her point of view and from within her mind.
14. Do you think there’s a reason Julie always seems to go barefoot?
I don’t know for certain, but I always think of bare feet as indicating two things--vulnerability and being in touch with earth. In the case of Julie, I think that tracks. She’s emotionally fragile, and though in her head she’s exploring wild universes, she’s trying to stay grounded.
15. Any advice for aspiring voice actors?
I think good voice acting requires two things. One is familiarity with basic mic technique, knowing about proximity and breath and the tricks of the trade. But more important is emotional openness, a willingness to expose sensitive parts of the psyche. When you don’t have the option of facial expressions or gestures, you have to be able to channel all that feeling into the voice.
16. For years there have been talks of a Maxx movie adaption, likely a live action movie. Sam Kieth has said before he’s interested in making a Maxx film and most recently, Channing Tatum has said in 2019 that he was going to direct a Maxx movie. If anyone ever contacted you to reprise your role, or even cameo in The Maxx movie, would you do it?
I would be thrilled to have a cameo in The Maxx movie! How fun would that be? (I think I’m a bit too long in the tooth to do a live-action Julie.) But if they decided to do a full-length animated feature, I’d definitely insist on being considered for Julie.
 17. Any messages for the Maxxheads that are still out there?
I’ve been truly honored by the emails I’ve received over the years from those inspired and touched by The Maxx. Some told me the comic helped them through dark teen years. Some said they finally felt heard and understood. Some even said they felt the comic saved their life. I don’t feel I can take credit for that—it’s Sam who created the story—but I’m glad to be the conduit for his message.
 18. What do you think Julie would think of the female protagonists in your Historical Romance novels?
The heroines in my historical romances are mostly kick-ass warrior maids, not unlike the Jungle Queen, so I’m sure Julie would approve.
19. If you could say anything to The Maxx what would it be?
“We all need some place to go away to; some place we can be who we should have been instead of who we are; some safe place where we can escape reality. Hide. I know there are things to hide from. Shush. Just rest now. It’s okay. ‘S’okay.”

hi hello i have time now let's talk about the new three hopes trailer and part of the recent feh channel!
feh channel time first, because this one has a lot less to deal with:
directly after introducing the game, feh refers to the characters as "students of garreg mach". this could mean exactly Nothing, but choosing to refer to them as students makes me think this is almost definitely a pre timeskip or early mid skip game. the fact that the mobile game's new summoning events are only academy arc heroes supports that, too.
okay new trailer time now that that's out of the way:
i'm pretty much certain at this point that arval is a sothis equivalent, and the fact that byleth doesn't know where shez's power comes from is mildly alarming. the glowing eyes though??? SO goddamn cool but also agarthan-looking.
"we've gotta win. for a new fodlan, one that will go down in the history books as the best ever!"
again, this could be me looking into things too much, but the "best ever"? shez you're looking a little sus, for lack of a better word. how would you have something to compare your new fodlan to if you hadn't seen other potential futures?
yuri's "let's do this, wolves" had me HYPED. his new voicelines are sounding so goddamn great and i like the slight change in his hairstyle!
his interaction with constance is fantastic as well, i love watching him rile her up, it's very funny. ngl i kinda wish constance had kept her curls but she doesn't look bad by any means! the fan being a part of her spellcasting is such a nice touch!
balthus really doesnt look that different to me lol but that's not an inherently bad thing. i just see very little change. nice to see he's still doing well!
HAPI. MY WIFE HAPI. THE LIGHT OF MY LIFE MY GIRL MY EVERYTHING. I LOVE HER NEW LOOK SO MUCH YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND SHE MEANS THE WORLD TO ME. the little bit of armour, her new hairstyle, the fact that SHE HAS A GODDAMN WOLF IN HER ATTACK AND TELEPORTS OUT OF THE WAY OF IT??? SO excited for her!! im really really glad they incorporated the monster summoning in her attacks too!!
OKAY MOVING BEYOND THE NEW DESIGNS NOW
expeditions?? neat?? i wanna know what that entails! teatime is back but i'm gonna be real with you i kinda wish it wasn't. i really wanted tea to be byleth's thing.
THE WEIRD LITTLE TIME THING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE VIDEO HELLOOOOOOO???
"how many times have we fought now? either way, this will be the last." TIME TRAVEL SHENANEGANS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE
this game might actually get me to like rhea a little more. we'll see. just based off her 2 lines in the trailer, there's a decent chance of it at least somewhat changing my mind about her.
"what if all this was just some horrible mistake? what if there was another way we could have solved all this?" oh No. i dont even wanna think about what this could be referring to.
ALL THE TELEPORTING AROUND LOOKS SO COOL!!
i can't quite catch sothis's line word for word but it sounds like "we must now send the whelp to an early grave" and i just. okay?? goddamn??
i'm gonna be real with you i am Very scared of shez. the fact that they can change the fate of the game, that it seems they can remember fighting against byleth many times in the past, and again, the teleporting, i'm kinda terrified. i doubt byleth will actually die in this game but that doesn't stop me from being alarmed at the last scene of the trailer.
anyway. can't wait to go home and get the demo!!

Hey! I hoped you could help with a certain confusion I had upon reading some of the potc books. Is “Jacques” supposed to just be “Jack” but with French accent? Or do Christophe and Chevalle just want to bother Jack by calling him that? Cause I’m sure there were other French-speaking characters who simply called him “Jack”, and if I’m not wrong Jack said at some part that he hated being called that.
hey anon! okay yes, so full disclaimer that I am not French but in fact their mortal enemy from across the Channel, but as I understand it, Jacques is a French name that is effectively the equivalent of the English name Jack. I think for English speakers it can be confusing but the ‘s’ in Jacques is silent, as is often the case with French words, so it would sound enough like Jack for the difference in the sound of the two names to be negligible if you heard Christophe and Jack talking as opposed to seeing it written on the page ( aside from the way it the name is accented by a French person, obviously ). this video demonstrates the pronunciation well without me having to unintentionally insult the French language lmao
I don’t recall Jack having a problem with being called Jacques in TPOF, likely because it is just the French version of the name -- his issue is with Teague calling him Jacky boy or Jacky/Jackie, because that is a much more infantalising, demeaning nickname that makes him feel like a child as opposed to a 20 year old man.
