Its a bit goofy of Pinkett Smith to pick the one ruler who definitely was not black for her documentary. Not only that, but it is stated in the docu that "Cleopatra was def black" and similar statements. I hope she chooses to portray more African queens and rulers in future documentaries. I also hope that filmmakers in general explore more stories outside of the European context instead of raceswapping historical figures such as Anne Boelyn. Its just very Eurocentric. But then again, its probably done because well known names pull bigger audiences, and therefore more money etc etc

I agree, it's definitely goofy. I think it was stated that she wanted to make a docu about strong African female rulers, and i guuuuess since Cleopatra was technically ruler of a country located on the African continent, she figured that counted, despite Cleopatra being way more Greek than Egyptian?

I think this might be why i can't bring myself to take it all that serious, because it's clearly not made by someone who knows enough about the subject for me to really respect them in like a scholarly fashion. I can only assume she must've had some scholars involved, but if the docu feels confident claiming Cleo was DEFINITELY a black woman, then it's clear that Pinkett Smith chose scholars that would support the worldview she needed for her vision to work. So then, the docu was made by unqualified people with a flawed premise, and some wrong choices were made along the way because her narrative took presidence over actual facts.

I hope that the rest of the episodes about other Africans queens are more historically accurate and respectful, but the issue is that her Ethos is already lost since we all know the documentary hasn't bothered with accuracy. It was a noble endeavor, and i think my fear is that others will be discouraged from making similar stories that amplify often unheard voices, because the backlash over this one, stupid, choice overshadowed everything else

“Shit, Rob.” Kon’s eyebrows shoot up as he stares at the cast on Tim’s leg, eyes seeing right through it. “That looks bad.”

Through a haze of painkillers and exhaustion, Tim still manages to glare at him. Kind of. Vaguely. “Thanks. Any other brilliant deductions you’d like to share with the class?” Ugh. He’s tired.

Kon holds up his hands in surrender. “Okay, whoof, you’re in a mood.”

Tim’s mood sours further. He’d had that mission in the bag, and then stupid Charaxes just had to show up and try to eat him again. In his opinion, that’s more than enough reason to be pissed. And now he’s on “bed rest” becase he has a “concussion” and “broken bones” and whatever else. “You try getting your leg snapped in three different places. Then we’ll talk about ‘moods’.”

“Jeez, sorry.” Kon raises his eyes to the heavens in an expression very reminiscent of Martha Kent. Tim kind of wants to throw something at him. Too bad there’s nothing good here to throw. Other than his pillows, but they’re soft. He wants to keep his pillows. “Fine, fine. I can take a hint.”

He turns away, reaching for the window, and—

“Wait.” Alarm spikes through Tim, and he pushes himself up into a sitting position, frowning. “What are you doing?”

“What are you doing?” Kon demands, whirling around again. In the blink of an eye he’s back at Tim’s bedside, easing him back down onto the pillows. “Lie back, idiot! You’re not supposed to get up yet. You’re still drugged!”

“I know. Don’t leave,” Tim orders, patting the side of his bed. Kon can’t leave. Tim doesn’t want him to. “I am so zonked out of my brain right now. I’m all floaty. I hate it.”

Understanding passes through Kon’s eyes. “That’s why you’re being a grouch?” He settles onto the bed next to Tim, and Tim makes a pleased noise and tilts his head against him. Kon’s arm winds around his shoulders.

“Yeah. And ‘cuz Charaxes is a jerk.” Tim blows out a breath. “I hate feeling floaty. I can’t think. Makes me nervous. So…” He tries to stay imperious, he really does, but his voice goes soft without his permission. “So you should stay here. With me.”

“Awww.” Kon chuckles, leaning back against the headboard of Tim’s bed. “Okay, bossy. If it makes you feel better.”

“It does,” Tim says. Kon is warm, and even if Tim can’t quite put two and two together right now, he knows everything will be okay if Kon’s here. He’ll be safe and sound, snug as a bug in a rug, and… there’s probably a third phrase that’d make sense here, but he can’t think of it. Whatever.

The point is, Kon is here, so Tim’s not as grumpy as he has been since he woke up. He’s just tired.

“Well, when you put it that way.” Kon’s thumb brushes over his shoulder; when Tim glances up, he can see a tiny smile on Kon’s lips. “Guess I’m not going anywhere.”

“Good,” Tim says, and closes his eyes again.

American here, we do the pledge every single school morning from kindergarten (age 6-7) all the way through highschool (ages 14-18) (I'm in highschool, so idk about collage)

Every morning we have school, the intercoms come on, everyone stands up, puts their hand over thier heart and everyone says the pledge together. Teachers too. Everyone, in almost perfect unison from years of conditioning, more enthusiastic when we're younger but more tired as we get older

I pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America and the republic, for which it stands: one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.

There is a flag in very classroom, and the gym. Its one of the first things you learn in school, and is treated as completely normal. I still remember going through each phase and explaining what it means, as a kindergartener. Then when you try to stop doing it (Which does earn you weird looks at the very least. I'm in a school with a very small bullying problem, but I've heard stories of bullying for this), it's hard becase when you hear the intercom come on, everyone else stands up and you're conditioned to do the same. You have to internally remind yourself not to. It's the worst when you're the only one, because your brain wants to follow what everyone else is doing.

The most terrifying thing, in my opinion, is that it's treated like the most normal thing. We also play the anthem at every sports game. Even middle school and Highschool sports. Everyone is expected to stand, take hats off, and put their hand over their heart. It's creepy. I remember being utterly shocked when I learned that other countries didn't do this.

Its freaking creepy when you think about it, but when you're raised in the US, you don't think about it. It's just a thing that you do.

I've never understood why people get so mad at Salah for the tree posting but this year they are even madder? 😟

They are mad because he's the biggest Muslim and Arab footballer and they can't stand him being not as religious-driven as others. Sure he fasts and everything but he does seem a bit detached from the usual Muslim footballing sphere - no Alhamdulillah hashtag and whatnot. The tree thing, after years, is obviously a statement at this point - on the fact that he wants to establish himself as a footballer for all the people and has an international borderless aurea around him. Which you know what, it's absolute fine to have in my opinion and it's not even a criticism. I don't care what people do in their homes. And I'd rather have him as the biggest Muslim star - a serious, mature, family driven person - than footballers who preach Alhamdulillah and all while they are involved in r*pe and abuse cases or cheat many times or are homophobic and just horrible people in general. Also wishing someone merry christmas is labelled as haram via them. I'd never have a christmas tree in my house but I do wish merry christmas to people who celebrate becase it's called respect, so I guess I'm in haram jail today, wish me luck.

As for this year, it's because he used his platform to talk about Palestine with a christmas tree post - it's the combo that got people mad. It makes very much sense to me in my opinion, because there's not really much to celebrate regardless of which holiday and which religion we are talking about. If Eid was tomorrow I would say the same. I know he said "war" and no "genocide" so people got mad about this too, but to be fair I think it sounds fine to me, he mentioned Gaza clearly. There's an important line between war and genocide, I get the difference, but I'm not going to hold a poorly worded caption against someone who is not clearly standing for isra*l here. He could've done more in general but it's whatevs, I stopped demanding shit from footballers. They are mad at him for not being the perfect muslim in their books, a lot of them don't even give a shit about Palestine...in tune with many Arab politicians after all.

This is was supposed to be a simple ask but it ended up getting long because of there being too many question and discussions but barely any answers so sorry about that.

On the topic of WhatPumpkin sometimes we all have to wonder what the fuck is going on behind the scenes, the latest news we got werent that much and it felt more of a like "Hey guys we are still alive dont forget about us" situation and it doesnt help that we cant really get any info because of how the only guy that Im atleast aware that works on it and is online is James and although I have no source because it was months ago, when beyond canon came back I remember him getting asked about Hiveswap and i dont remember if he answered it on the blog or on a reddit qna but he had said he cant really do much about it because hes just the music guy on that department and not an director or writer and he probably cannot say whats going on if hes aware of even the minimum because of NDAs and you know the situation is weird when not even the new director for post canon can do nothing about it or doesnt know what the fuck is going on over there either (i believe its more of the former).

On the same topic Hussie jumping the ship in my opinion feels like such an awful move in a moral and community sense, he hires fucked up people and ends up going through development hell and instead of trying to fix it he just runs away and gives someone else the work. He becasically invited destruction to that place by not doing background checks and shit and now everyone else but him has to suffer for it. I wonder if WhatPumpkin will close business after they finish Hiveswap (if they even manage to finish it) or if their writting quality wont be bad if they try to do Hauntswitch now.

I also sometimes wonder if Hauntswitch was made first maybe things could have been better. Think about it:

Overall sounding like an awesome story itself, a alien coming to earth and fighting a cult related to the presidents with a human companion. Especially considering how Dammek sounds like hes an asshole and also because of how trolls are usually violent could lead to interesting interactions.

I might be wrong and biased though but I feel like that concept could attract more outsiders than Hiveswap could ever wish to do. And hopefully thats it and that I wont waste almost an hour of my life rambling about this stuff (for my own sake because i feel like i could have spent my time better but i also need to post this somewhere and i dont use social media most of the time and when i do its usually to see fanart, memes and overall discussion of my fav franchises) but I probably will in the future.

Yes, the question about Hiveswap was asked in a Q&A back in October 30th, 2023 from James Roach here (Archive ver for backup). The news about development should be something more like how Toby does with the Deltarune newsletter. Monthly, maybe do a special event ARG thing that gives insight of what's coming up, or anything like that. Though even with that, it might be probably too little too late since we are at 11 years since the Kickstarter had funded. Probably doesn't help since 2 million dollars was wasted, it's a mystery how the game is still being worked on if the original Kickstarter money that was given to them, had been used up. What is WhatPumpkin's new source of income then? Do they have a second job they aren't telling us about? Are they using part of that Patreon money from Beyond Canon since technically there are some that work within Hiveswap too like James? Then there's the fact Hussie not only wasted the money, but basically left the Kickstarter project he started in the first place. He may own it and be credited as the creator, but he won't be involved in the future Acts and Hauntswitch. I'm surprised nobody is pissed at him for scamming them out of 2 million dollars. Do people not care if the original person who hosted it left? Especially with the truth come to light thanks to Gio's research on this. I wouldn't be surprised if WhatPumpkin does shut down because they couldn't gain the sales needed after releasing Hiveswap Act 3. People will probably wonder if even buying stuff from Topatoco would help or not with HS merch like the prints slowly resurfacing. Drawing in the crowds from old and new to play the game will be tough. I wouldn't be surprised if Hauntswitch was first made in mind before Hiveswap. Dammek even had a 3D model ready too.

Likely back when it was still a 3D game, we would control briefly but then after the cutscene of them being transported to the other planet, we would then have to take control of Dammek, have him meet Jude to possibly have him find a way to help him back home, and the pair would adventure on Earth itself for the rest of the game to find out about the monsters and the cult. Dammek's paranoid nature would play off Jude's conspiracy theory pretty well as it has the two involved looking deep into the mystery. I wouldn't be surprised if something about the cult would eventually tie in to his home planet and the rebellion as a final grand twist. An idea like that sounds more interesting than some girl getting lost on an alien planet and was roped into some rebellion that she has no reason to be part of besides being concerned for a friend.

A Bad Girl’s Guide to New Year’s Eve

We've made it to the time of year where everyone is vowing to become someone new. Everyone is scurrying about, trying to tweak their appearance and tidy their homes so that they can enter the new year as their most perfect self.

I'm twenty eight years old now, and I can honestly say I've spent the last two decades of my life trying to reinvent myself. Even as a child, every break from school, every new year, every long weekend felt like the perfect opportunity to "come back better". And so I've tried and tried to slip into someone else's skin. To be a different kind of woman. To be softer, sexier, more mysterious. Quieter, prettier, skinnier. I always felt that once I made it, then it would all Begin.

Feeling that way at sixteen may be somewhat of a coming-of-age tradition. But I never thought I'd feel that way as an adult. I thought that at some point, the challenges, the programs, the vision boards, the crash diets, would change me into the right kind of person to have the life I wanted. But instead, I have carried on like this for years. Wishing I were someone else.

But you know what? That perfect woman is boring. I regret how long it took me to realize that I don't want to be perfect. The reason I never switched from coffee to green tea, or gave up eating pizza, or started reading the classics... is because I didn't want to. Becase that's not who I am.

I'm messy. I'm loud. Sometimes I'm pretentious. I've written on here about seeking perfection, but I'm not doing it. I'm on my couch in my leggings. I don't want to be high maintenance, or to look like everyone else. I want to eat delicious food and read smutty romance novels and drive my boyfriend nuts with questions and opinions. If that doesn't make me trophy wife material, then so be it.

I'm glad we're making "messy" an aesthetic. I'm glad the trend of perfection and "clean girl" bullshit is coming to an end. In 2024, my resolutions are simple:

Be creative. Be chaotic. Be authentic. Be joyful.

This year I am leading with what feels good and right. I'm not trying to be anyone other than myself. I'm spending less time scrolling, and more time creating bad art. I'm giving in to my impulses and chasing joy.

This year my resolution is not to change a damn thing.

Unfortunately becase its in 3d, the english VAs dont match up with the mouths as well (as opposed to in 2d where all they really have to do is talk when the mouths open and close, most of the time) so im watching it in japanese

Hendrickson couldnt have been 15 years ago-- theyre not saying that the entirety of the 4 seasons is only one year??? bs im not listening to that-- i can believe that it was 2 years worth of the sin's adventures but one year is not a lot of time for that much stuff to happen and it really diminishes the severity of everything the world went through in that time because of how quickly it was resolved. plus, at the end of the series, it said that there was like.. a year between the adventures and tristan being born. so it should be at least 16-18 years ago.

Nah don't worry about it, that's what I would've said if I had the energy but I'm just done repeating my points when people like that clearly don't listen lol. I appreciate you saying it though and pointing out how ridiculous and ironic it is.

Whatever the case is, I pity them for how they're getting this worked up over it along with everyone else that's been harassing me. But I also find it amusing how they'll go after people for opinions and fics they write about a character because they apparently find it that offensive but then don't care or respect real people that have feelings and have even actually been though real shit.

And it's appalling how they'll continue to treat people terribly after they find this out, either blaming them for what happened to them or dismissing it entirely. I've had both happen multiple times since. I should never have had to disclose it as that's bad enough that I felt pressures to but the reactions I've gotten from some people have been disgusting and cut deep.

It's easy for them to go around saying I'm a bad person that loves writing child abuse, make accusations and treat me terribly just because I wrote a character known for mistreating and even trying to kill children (Eggman) manipulating a character that happens to be an ageless AI that looks like a child, something he's also known for doing because that's what felt accurate to me.

But it's hard to give me respect and consideration as someone that's experienced bad things as a real person and just wanted to write my interpretation based on what I thought was accurate and involve my experiences. So if this is really a moral battle and I'm a terrible person, why are they the ones mistreating me and acting like they feel worse for a character experiencing similar?

I'm just creating what I want to on my own blog, I'm not the ones attacking people and blaming or dismissing what they've been through so they can keep accusing me of horrible things and stay mad over a character. It just keeps proving that they don't care about survivors and it's really just about hating that I feel about and portray a character differently.

And they want to find reasons to deem me an acceptable target over something that shouldn't be that deep and serious, so they accuse me of fucked up shit like child abuse and treat me like a monster based on what I create so it can feel justified. But in the process they're just treating a survivor like shit and dismissing their experiences so they can still feel like they're in the right for attacking me.

And I just hope these people will stop and think and realize that and treat other survivors with better respect than they have with me in the future. Because nobody deserves to be blamed and dismissed for their very real pain and treated horribly all because of a character and the story and opinions created from them like I have.

Sending another ask so the psot doens't get too long but YEAH I SPENT. A REALLY REALLY LONG TIME ON THAT MOUNTAIN. Actually back pre-sumeru when I had more time and energy (less school) I was extremely intense with my gameplay. I'm talking the Chasm 100%ed within give or take a week after it's release. Hours upon hours spent getting the map to full completion. It was actually INSANE.

ALSO. Also also. Opinions on the organization setup of Khaenri'ah/related groups bc like I KNOW that so far the only DRECTLY Khaenri'ah related groups are the Hexenzircle, Fatui and the Abyss Order but I have. A reallllly really strong feeling that there's a fourth group and that's the one Kaeya belongs to BUT. I am very curious as to what you think :3

Well, about the different organizations, i sure have some thoughts... There are probably innacurate to some oscure lore but hey, whatever...

So, the Alberich are definetely not connected to the fatui, but that should be a given at this point. The ideologies are just different, one wants to restore the homeland or some semblance of it, the other (Pierro) is described as a traitor to Khaenri'ah, does not seem to care for the restoration and his organazation mostly focuses on ending destiny and destroying celestia. Moreso the second than the first.

So the Alberich. I have a feeling that Skirk is an Alberich (you know Skirk, right? Childe's master in the abyss), because she is incredibly misterious, described as looming in the dark, ridicoulusly powerful and in the Abyss where it is speculated Khaenri'ah's survivors went. She's also speculated to be part of the Herzenicle but i don't think so becase she's only describe as a swordwoman and not as a witch.

Dain's also an alberich, imo. Since he's against both the abyss order and the fatui and he can't be part of the Herzickel.

My theory about the Alberich is deeply connected with my theory on the abyss sibling. Which is that the sibling went through the entire journey just as we did and challenged the Heavenly principals, who, since they were loosing, basically reset the entire timeline, choose the traveler as the new descender and pushed the sibling into the role of leader of the abyss to fill in the blanks.

This is because the only, as far as I'm aware, time we can hear about our sister's journey, like really and in detail, is through the Aranara who call them by a nickname and talk in riddles. Which would bypass Irminsul

There's one time from the fatui, i think, but I can't find it and it doesn't seem specific enough to be erased, plus pierro may know how to avoid Irminsul through codes and written "fake" languages.

Now, back to the Alberich. My theory is that the place the alberich had in the world is the equivalent of the fatui in our timeline. So all the fatui's plans are similar to the Alberich's, which would explain why Pierro seems to be able to tell the future. In this case Childe would be Skirk (since I think it'd be funny) and dottore would be rhinedottir (since, you know, insane scientist ect,ect)

Now, after the Alberich's plans failed (since they were using the sibling to defy the world) the intelligence network divided into two groups. Kaeya's father and company basically form the most insane case of maliscous compliance.

Like "technically" they follow the heavenly principals while slowly making sure that the heavens still are defeated. Pierro doesn't like that so he creates the fatui to continue the revolution.

Now the Herznickel I'm not sure about, haven't researched it much to be honest, but my gut tells me they are associated with Celestia. Not sure why, like I said, Haven't researched it, but i'd be glad to listen if you can disprove it or something.

And the Abyss order seems like the farthest away from Khaenri'ah, oddly enough, maybe because most of the people that are part of it are just... mindless monsters trasformed by the curse. Also, any faction (the fatuii, dain, Kaeya to an extent) all seem to hate them or want them gone? We know that Khaenri'ah used to use the field tillers to cleanse the abyss beasts so it may because of that but idk...

Honestly, this is the first time I've externalized any of this so it may not make sense at all. But I'd be glad to hear your theories in turn oh wise sage from the old times (1.3 lmao)(non making fun of you btw, we're both just as insane.

Ooh I have multiple. I love the idea of her just being straight. Her finding love in Shikamaru is enough for her (and me) and her to trust someone to give in to sexual pleasure with him is a good interpretation of her sexuality.

However, the BEST canon aside, I personally like girls being in love with girls and I like Temari. This means I have one canonverse AU and one modern AU where she is a lesbian, and one where she is bisexual. Just for me, because I need it. I think canonverse Temari would not say no to have fun with a girl either, in a canon fic where her life isn't as harsh as it is in real canon.

Gender Headcanon:

Temari is cis. Despite her masculine traits, she feels very rooted in her identity as a woman.

Skdfnsdlfnlsdf, finally returned to KOTET with my Bounty Hunter and, man, is it two bad ideas in a row to introduce him to Kaliyo and then Havoc Squad. Him and Kaliyo would get along like a house on fire - way too damn well. In another life, those two would have conned the fuck out of each other and probably remained good friends if only because they enjoy that exact brand of humor. They’d have tried to kill each other, certainly, but, like, respect where respect is due for haulin’ ass like that, y’know?

And then poor Jorgan. There’s no way in hell they’d get along. There are very few things Lensan hates in this world like being told what to do and he’s a VERY opinionated stubborn jackass. Genuinely one of my irredeemable bastards and I’m 95% certain he knows this and thinks it’s grand. Len starts fights over disagreements. He fucks around and finds out almost entirely just to find out how much shit is too much shit for him to dig himself out of.

He can be reasonable. For short periods of time. He can get along well enough to get a job done. I think. But also, genuinely, truly, I believe Lensan is a dick and he chooses to continue to be one unapologetically. I’d hate this man if he were real.

But, as it is, he’s the most morally fucked of my fake little bundles of pixels and therefore I find watching him survive for credits, an unhealthy amount of whiskey, and sheer, raw, unfiltered SPITE absolutely HILARIOUS. This man really accepted Valkorian’s boon becase it seemed the most convenient way to maybe live at the time and then turned around and called him a BITCH to his FACE at the FIRST opportunity. It is not because Lensan is fighting a moral battle. This is strictly about some Sithy motherfucker trying to tell him what to do and pretend its the Morally Correct option.

Is it ANY less life or death to defy the most powerful evil entity in the galaxy now that he’s only a spectre inside his head rather than a physical being? Probably not. Might even be more so! But Lensan is pure gremlin that knows even his barest thread of cooperation is mildly beneficial and also he has no better ideas for how to fix this at the time, so, once again, he’s fucking around and finding out.

Literally a disaster. If for literally nothing else, I have to see just where this takes him because all of my other characters tackle this with far too much reason. Lensan is dropping a thermal detonator into an ocean of oil and going “BET” and just kadnfla;sndfl;sandflkndslfd. Bastard. Idiot. Absolute trash monkey.

I love him and also he fully deserves whatever consequences come to bite him in the ass. I don’t support his wrongs as in I think they’re right or even that he could be justified in some way. I support his wrongs in that I am watching them go down with the biggest bag of popcorn.
