Thinking too much about the fate of the scout vets gets me so sad…

Thinking about how Hange can’t even be properly memorialized. There’s no body to recover. It’s been burned into ash and trampled into dust.

Thinking about how postwar Levi might talk with a portrait artist, in lieu of photographs to remember them by. Describing what all of his friends and comrades looked like. Recalling them vividly with his minds eye. And how that one portrait of Hange would be the only proof she ever existed.

He sees the world now through one little eye, he knows it’s the only remaining lense through which his fallen comrades could see what their sacrifices were ever for. He’s the only one left to carry their memory.

He finds no personal glory or triumph in being the hero.

He resumes life with the noble and humble effort of planting trees.

And the world moves on.

Rest well, Hanji Zoe aka AoT most underrated character.

They have offen been labelled as “weak” or inadequate towards their role of Commander, due to their sometimes bizarre attitude towards Titans; it has been said that they should have died when Berthold transformed in Shiganshina, ´cause they´re alive only because Moblit sacrificed himself. 

Well, call it luck, call it fate, but that´s exactly how Hanji was supposed to go. 

They died when they decided to, sacrificing themselves for their comrades, after an epic battle with an army of Colossal Titans. 

No one could stop Hanji, except for Hanji themselves. 

My respect, Commander.

15 a- If you could have prevented the death of a single character, which one would it be?

As you already guessed, I would have saved Hange of course!

Like Erwin died when the answer to his lifelong quest was within his grasp, Hange sacrificed themself before they could explore the outside world, quench their thirst for knowledge, help make people's lives better with new discoveries... I'm fascinated by their intelligence & all those amazing qualities that make them one of the best written characters in SNK, personality-wise. They would have been such an asset in the post war SNK universe.

15 b- What is your favorite (top 3 if you can't choose one) soundtrack?

To be perfectly honest, I read the whole manga only once. I often read a random chapter or a few panels online but I still have to read it again (& it's a pain in the ass because I have the Edition Colossale & every book is f*cking heavy lmao). Besides, the French translation is not very good imo, it missed most of the dialogues' subtleties / nuances :((

Still, the manga panels are amazing, Isayama has a real talent for drawing the facial expressions & making us understand what's going on or feel so many emotions without a single word.

But I love the anime, even if a few things missing or changed kinda rub me the wrong way! The animation is insane (Levi's action scenes are always flawless & omg it's part of why I love the short badass so much!). The music is amazing & epic. The VAs are phenomenal (I only watch the Japanese version with French or English subtitles). It's a f*cking great show!

Just a few words about the scene between Eren & Armin in the last episode. As much as I cannot accept Eren's actions, I still felt sorry & sad for him. But the scene with Armin in the manga was so pathetic it almost swept away my sympathy towards him. Thanks Mappa for fixing this scene, making it a real moment of emotion between soulmate friends, & giving Eren a bit of his humanity back.

So anime it is!

Back then, what if I had never left them and waited? What if the Ackerbond is real?

To be a soldier, it was like playing with toy blocks. When someone attacked you, all you had to do was to protect the walls of yours from crumbling down. You would carefully fix after the fight any damages and then... all over again. If someone breaks your wall with his dirty hands, you either fight back or accept your fate of your walls falling. But if you have something more to lose than a couple of bricks, do you fight back? Do you sacrifice yourself for the bricks? Do you hide them? Do you protect them? Or you agree to sacrifice them, even though you don't want to lose them?

Do you believe in real love? Or a love that it was never meant to be? One-sided? A slow burn? Soulmates? Ackerbond?

Were the Ackermans really just loyal slaves that obeyed orders from one person? Or they did love them truly?

- A tragic love story about two devoted soldiers who preferred to save the world than say a simple "I love you".

After yesterday’s episode I had to re-read your meta about “Hange’s sacrifice and the culmination of Levi’s loss and grief” just to hurt myself again haha. Man, I won’t deny it, I do ship those two, but is their deep bond and understanding of each other and just their friendship what I really love. So, seeing them say goodbye was hard for me. Seeing Hange’s scared expression and the way Levi looked in that plane…and the way he said See you, Hange…I mean, Hange is my favorite character, so I was already crying seeing her fighting, but was the last goodbye of Levi and the soundtrack at the back that made cry like a bitch lmao. I can’t stop thinking about Hange, the way they animated Hange getting burn was so raw, but I’m glad they animate their death with such Bang like she would want. They truly made Hange looked like a hero, so I’m grateful for that. Bauklotze is on repeat since yesterday and Levi at the plane represents the state I was on watching the episode after Hange’s sacrifice haha. Anyways, I really enjoy reading your metas and I hope the last episode don’t disappoint :)

Thank you so much! I'm right there with you, with how much this episode hurt, and seeing Hange go out the way they did, with so much heroism and commitment and courage. That's the thing, Hange was so courageous in the end. They knew they were going to die, and they were scared, but they didn't let that stop them. And I was in awe of how they animated their death too, the brutal and raw nature of it, it must have been so unbelievably painful. And yes, Levi's resignation and sadness and grief was on full display. His expression on the plane was simply heartbreaking, and I can't even fully grasp the kind of pain he had to have been in, being unable to help or save his best friend. They truly did have such a deep and meaningful bond. Whether you ship them or not, that can't be denied. Hange dying like that was Levi losing his last person, in a way, the last person he was close to, and it's kind of the curse he always has had to carry. Being the strongest, he always somehow survives, while everyone he loves and cares about seems to die, despite all his efforts to protect them. Every loss effects Levi on such a deep level, and Levi's broken expression is him finally reaching his threshold of what he can take. It's just too much at this point. Which makes it all the more remarkable that he was able to carry on and keep fighting, despite it all, despite his own physical and mental anguish. Well, there's a reason Levi and Hange both are generally seen as the most heroic characters in AoT. Because they are.

I'm sure, given the incredible quality on display from MAPPA up to this point, that there's nothing to worry about with the final part airing in the fall. It's going to be so incredibly emotional.

Короче. Супер-большой пост (а может и не супер) про аниме и игры

Посмотрел несколько тайтлов за время моего отсутствия тут. Немного мыслей по каждому из них:

Атака Титанов

Я очень долго откладывал просмотр этого тайтла, пропустил через себя весь хайп, все мемы и все спойлеры. И как только я всё это забыл - я приступил к просмотру.

Самая главная причина просмотра, пожалуй, рисовка и режиссёр (тот же, что и у Тетрадки). В некоторые моменты рисовка просто разрывает все шаблоны, как будто художники приняли дохрена какой-нибудь сильной наркоты, после которой они начали ебашить как не в себя.

Сюжет - лично мне зашёл на 11/10. Да, это сёнен, да, типичные решения, повороты. НО! Это, конечно, моё имхо, но сюжет со временем принимает просто огромный масштаб - от типичного "моя мечта - убить всех титанов" (привет, Нарутовское "я стану хокагэ, это мой путь ниндзя") до настоящих сюжетных твистов а-ля какой-то детектив. Плюс, иногда казалось, что я смотрю Игру Престолов в мире аниме (дохрена персонажей, кое-как запомнил лицо и имя одного, в следующей серии его убивают, классно)

Ах да, еще Саунд... Все хайпили СОСАГЕО, но в моем сердечке Rumbling, my war и Bauklotze.

Короче говоря, очень зашло, жду финала осенью.

Человек-бензопила

Супер-драйвовое аниме, местами даже мем��ое.

Рисовка так же радует глаз, переход с 2д на 3д вообще без разрывов и потери качества (помните мемную рисовку боя Пейна и Наруто?)

Я весь просмотр угарал над мотивацией ГГ: "переебу кого угодно, лишь бы потрогать Макиму за грудь"

Сюжет тоже довольно-таки интересный (парой моментов напомнил Бездомного бога с идеей заключения контрактов с богами/демонами)

Великая небесная стена

Недавно совсем начал, но очень понравилось.

Тайтл подкупил сеттингом постапокалипсиса, загадками, интригами и ноткой детектива.

Вроде бы все просто: есть гг, у него есть телохранитель, который сопровождает его во время его "приключения", но по ходу сюжет резко развивается, твист за твистом, и вот ты уже решаешь досмотреть все залпом, чтобы узнать что же там дальше.

Теперь по игрулькам

Тут всё немного проще.

Destiny я пока забросил (контента нет, как всегда под конец сезона). Разрабы обещали 8.08 рассказать дофига подробностей про следующее дополнение, посмотрю, что да как, и сделаю вывод "покупать или нет". Если куплю - значит буду играть, если нет - заброшу эту игру навсегда.

В VALORANT я как раз и играю сейчас, стараюсь как-то улучшить свои результаты, глядишь и получится ворваться В КИБЕРСПОРТ (хаха, наивный)

Буквально в четверг вышло первое дополнение к ATOMIC HEART (меня до сих пор пробирает гордость, ведь это наша русская игра, которая покорила весь мир, но самый большой восторг, конечно, получила в России за сеттинг ретрофутуристичного СССР и за кучу отсылок ко всему подряд (к мемам, к фильмам и сериалам как Советским так и зарубежным)).

Ещё коронной фишкой игры является саунд. Песни русских (советских) исполнителей переделанные под современные жанры. Вы только послушайте этот шедевр
