next up we got harlivy and stephcass. stephcass is the only one i have that isn’t from the dc pride poster book. i got it at a comic-con artist alley thing.
wonder woman and GL jo up next. they’re beside and above my vanity because they’re awesome and i love them. girls for ever
midnighter x apollo poster by my closet. right beside hatsune miku. i love the composition on this one a lot.

Awesome seeing there was a sizzle reel shown at The CW’s Upfront for “Gotham Knights” and there’s positive reaction from those that saw it on Twitter!!! :D Also confirmed they did cast an actor to play Bruce Wayne but so far they’ve either not recognized them or didn’t reveal who the actor is. Seems to debunk too the theory of Jensen Ackles and we knew it wouldn’t be Warren Christie either who plays him in the Arrowverse. Then Duela’s look in the poster and from what was shown at the trailer believes The Joker is her father and matches the comics where she doesn’t know for certain if her father is him or Harvey (though in “Batwoman” Harvey was actually her uncle so one of the two is happening here). Also Turner’s blue/black outfit seems to hint that he might be a version of Nightwing as from everything I’m reading he’s a mashup of at least Dick Grayson and Tim Drake. The others in the poster have colors matching their hero personas: Carrie in green for Robin, Harper in blue for Bluebird, Duela in purple and green for The Joker, etc. Very curious if this reel/teaser will be posted online at some point and/or they reveal who was cast as Bruce soon.

Just wanted to say thanks for breaking down the comics that lead to Ivy’s series. I read some of it before but I knew I was missing something so your post is super helpful. Also I’ve been loving the Kate/Maggie posts as well I’ve been meaning to read more batwoman. 🙏
Thank you so much for sending this ask, I'm glad you've been enjoying it! It was really kind of a pet project for me, since I was in the same boat as you for a long time & wanted to archive for myself the complete backstory. I think seeing how they built up Harley's interest in being a hero for multiple years was really interesting, plus I loved a lot of Ivy's storylines!! So it makes me happy to hear people are appreciating it :)
In 2019, I was a very casual Harley Quinn fan--much more into other comics & hadn't read most of her stuff. I was living in Seattle and going weekly to this awesome comic shop that's since closed (RIP 😢), so I picked up & read all of the limited-run Harley Quinn & Poison Ivy. After that, though, I didn't really keep up with their main storyline. I prefer to read things physically, and I'd buy certain single issues I was interested in (I bought single issues of Joker War and Catwoman: Fear State that I read online had more Harlivy content specifically), but I was always slightly confused/wanted to know the full scope of it. When they finally gave Ivy her own ongoing series, that's when I was like, okay, I'm fully diving in!
(Just a side note, midtowncomics.com is awesome for buying cheap back issues physically. Although I have temporarily subscribed to DC Universe just to catch up on the full backstory & decide which comics I want to own physically. I also hoped excerpting stuff from them would help other people decide which arcs they wanted to read in full for themselves! I can definitely give my recommendations if anyone is interested.)
And I definitely had to do some digging on like old reddit posts and random comic reviews etc. to figure out which comics had their complete storyline over the past few years, so I was like, okay now that I've put this all together, let me put it one place for posterity. There's definitely parts of their storyline I think are way better written than others (though I've tried not to editorialize too much except for Heroes in Crisis lol). I was on vacation last week & had a dental emergency this week (which turned out to be fine as of yesterday woohoo!), but I'd love to make some more text posts with my thoughts on stuff (separate from just archiving it). And I would definitely love to hear from my followers any of their thoughts on specific Harlivy storylines/comics/writers/etc.!
Glad you've been enjoying the Kate/Maggie posts too! I have such mixed feelings about that Batwoman run. It is truly like, sigh, the amount of canonical gay women that DC makes former army or current cops is truly abysmal. And it also definitely has more running themes of violence against women than I expected/wanted (obviously outside of villains physically fighting Kate, I mean, as that's to be expected). But the art is TRULY gorgeous, the storytelling is engaging, and it does represent a lesbian relationship and center a lesbian superhero in a way I haven't really ever seen anywhere else. I love DC Bombshell's version of Kate SO much (the art is also gorgeous for that & her backstory is WAY more appealing to me personally), but sadly they were more focused on including a breadth of characters in that comic than diving deeply into any one character's storyline, including Kate (after like the first six issues). Anyway, I won't go too in depth on my Batwoman thoughts here lol.
But yeah, I was in the Batwoman tag and it was mostly Batfam memes. Which, understandable to some extent, since her last solo comic ended a few years ago, so that stuff is probably just buried. But I was like, well, since I'm reading this anyway, I would like more of the art & relationships from her actual solo comic to be in the tags, at least on my blog for my own reference.
Anyway, sorry, feel like stuff has been running mostly on a queue for the last two-ish weeks, and now I'm back and energized & your ask happened to spark this rambling. Lol thank you for dropping in to my inbox, hope you have a good one!

Do you think that the WIndy trailer is telling us the truth and the new sheriff really killed Abby's husband? Or it is possible that this whole time Abby was after the wrong person and Mr. Davidson then helps Abby to find the real killer and that's how Walkers and Davidsons became friends before they became enemies for the land dispute?
Also what did you think of the Gotham Knights? I really liked Misha's leviathan Cas and Casifer so I was gonna check it out but they didn't even use him in the trailer. And I thought at least the plot seemed better than batwoman but saw the DC fans are trashing this like there's no tomorrow.
And I think we all can agree that The Winchesters trailer sucked so bad. Even the "fans" who are supporting it for Jensen said "Maybe it isn't all bad let's keep faith in Jensen." No one said "Oh what a cool trailer!" At least I didn't see one person who thinks it is good.
WIndy has the best trailer of all three🔥
It's a possibility but I kind of doubt it. Good revenge arcs are slow burning. Revenge Emily four years to complete her vendetta. Count of Monte Cristo took years to get his revenge. Both characters were hiding in plain sight of their target under new identity. I suspect Walker is not Abbie's married name and she had to change it to protect herself from the man who likely killed her husband.
I didn't see any Gotham Knights trailer other than the game. You need to include a link. MIsha was not featured in the poster. Of course DC fans are trashing it, it's what DC fans.
I saw many fans reluctantly willing to watch it because of Dean + promise that it's Supernatural. We will see come Fall.

I've put off watching this one for a while now because I wasn't quite sure what to expect from it. After two attempts of watching other horror movies that quickly lost my attention last night, I decided to check this out instead this morning since I'd always been curious about it. All I had known about it beforehand was that strikingly beautiful poster and that it was on the slower side of things. That's about it but the title gave me some kinda idea what I was getting into. I think going in mostly blind helped this experience because it was a pleasant surprise at how it was not your typical body horror. It's very much a character study if anything. I really hadn't realized that doing this sort of thing that Hunter does is considered a mental disorder with an official name (Pica) While it's not the most pleasant of subject matters, how it's handled is fascinating because it feels very straight-forward with how it unfolds. I will say that it may be triggering for some because of that style since I was certainly squirming in my seat at parts. I think Haley Bennett deserves praise for a really strong performance that made me feel for her character Hunter. Most of the time, she plays her rather soft-spoken (essentially fake happy) but she's also fearless when need be. There are also some aesthetically pleasing visuals in here that feel intentional but also maybe some happy accidents. Idk. It was also nice seeing some familiar faces in the supporting cast (including a short scene with Nicole Kang from Batwoman, just cuz I like her lol) In terms of ranking with my watches so far, I'm not sure where it stands just yet but I do think that I won't be forgetting this one too soon either. It's def not a movie for everyone but I liked it. So, there's that. lol
