You know what I wanna see? Duke messing with people by pretending he’s literally the Bat Signal brought to life. Jumping ‘into’ the signal and turning invisible to make it look like a genie going into its lamp at the end of his shift, messing with the power and then glowing on and off while a frantic cop flicks the light switch, casually mentioning conversations people have had in the presence of the signal (thanks, Oracle), just—let Duke have fun being an utter troll.

Oh my god I love this so so much. Just got the first few issues of We Are Robin a few days ago so this was impeccable timing.

That is genuinely so fucking funny. People start to buy it. Goons and crooks gain the superstition that anything that symbolizes The Bat could BECOME a Bat. Working batlight minatures sold like wildfire as it became a custom to have the mini light shine outside their window during the day as a sort of protection charm.

Duke loved this and used the little nightlights to his advantage, bending light so it seemed that he appeared out of the mini batlights as a dramatic flair to scare criminals. The entirety of Gotham talks about how the symbol of fear that shone in the darkness became a symbol of hope that rose up to protect the people.

Bruce doesn’t want to admit it, but he thinks the whole thing is incredibly amusing. Duke was having the time of his life and was quickly becoming more than just a hero. He was becoming a symbol. In this case it was more ways than one.

Wow, must be one hell of a slow news day! The local newspaper just put up an article about one of the so-called mysterious "batlights"; the Batman stickers on streetlights. 2 have been up there since at least 2021, when we moved to this city.
