Hiiii oh my god you've read it!!! The conversation surrounding Witchshadow is honestly so exhausting emotionally for me because I feel as if I need to justify both liking the series despite it and liking some elements of the book to myself. I'm definitely of those holding out for the last book (and shamelessly seeing nuance that isn't there in the threadsisters thing—totally could just be a way to say best friend (it isn't)) but it's interesting to see your thoughts and I'm glad you're back!

heyyy!! yes, finally after like seven years, i read (reread) the whole series including witchshadow. i completely understand where you're coming from, bc ive avoided reading the book for so long because of the same thing. and even now, i feel like this emotional ping ponging between loving so many elements of this series and feeling let down by witchshadow? the witchlands was such a special series for me, with it starting off this tumblr account itself and encouraging me to start my ao3, and making so many mutuals and friends on here, and idk witchshadow really kinda soured it for me.

i'm still going to support susan though, bc from what i understand there were a lot of publisher/editor/industry issues, and i still love the series for what it was. i hope that the book was just a dip, and that the rest of the series wraps up well!! maybe i can start writing for safik/baesult again (and fix up my old fics bc jesus christ)

The witchlands ships and who they could not fool in a fake dating au/who would be like oh fucking finally

Safik: They can’t fool Iseult because she can literally see the pining and it drives her nuts. Kullen calls bs too because he knows Merik too well. They can get around everyone else.

Baesult: Everyone is firmly in the oh fucking finally camp. The pining is obvious and Safi is very happy she won the bet.

Vix: Fucking finally. I refuse to believe that no one knows how Vivia feels about Stix. The palace staff were very excited to see their princess finally have her woman.

Rylen: Merik refuses to believe Kullen actually pulled it together to ask Ryber out. He is happy to be proven wrong when Kullen confesses for real.

V^2: They’re too awkward to make anyone think they worked it out on their own. No one is fooled.

Laden: Fucking finally. Lev and Zander throw a party in celebration.

What are the most chaotic headcanons you have for the existing ships?

Safik: For their dates they terrorize the population. In a modern au they just hangout and throw rocks at cars. Merik didn't like it at first but then he watched Safi break Corlant's window and it awakened something in him.

Baesult: They got into a fight with a librarian and have been banned from their local library. They refuse to tell anyone what happened.

Rylen (is this their ship name? I don't know): Kullen takes up knitting and becomes obsessed. He knits Ryber the ugliest sweaters imaginable. The Rook gets one too because Kullen is convinced he is their angry bird son. Ryber tries to get revenge by making him a pair of knitted pants that clash horribly by he wears them everywhere.
