1 - How many works do you have on AO3?

oh god, 128! but this is an underestimate, because i've anon'd some older fics/fandoms hehehe. i've been 'round ao3 since 2012!

2 - What's your total AO3 word count?

498,649... now this is actually accurate. 300k of that is from 2020 until now. basically the pandemic got me on a writing kick.

3 - What fandoms do you write for?

SO MANY. 19 according to ao3, but right now? baldurs gate & redacted audios >:3 there is another halsin fic in the works...

4 - What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

oh god. okay. you'll get some older fics here: 1. got me on my best (bad) behaviour 2. Call me scent o' mental, but I'm crazy about you (teen wolf....) 3. all bark, no bite 4. devils and ghosts (frank castle / karen page!! love this one heh) 5. sweeter than honey (ofc halsin makes it ahaha)

5 - Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

YES. there are only a few exceptions, when I've written something that touches close to home / a sensitive topic.

6 - What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

hmm...bittersweet endings were my wheelhouse for a long time. OKAY. let's do this one: too little, too late. caroline forbes and klaus mikaelson, set at the end of the originals. yeah.

7 -What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

....nowadays, I mostly write happier endings sadhfjk lets go with: bioluminescence, which follows on from the events of blood moon (@/barbwrites) and takes marco on a roadtrip to see luminescent algae up close and personal. (it's a loveletter to a summer I spent in california during a really difficult period of my life, and this fic means a lot to me <3)

8 - Do you get hate on fics?

I've not gotten hate, but I've definitely had some interesting comments over the years, for a variety of reasons, usually to do with the person's personal views. (one story had the main character smoking pot to calm their anxiety, and someone was not happy with that)

9 - Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

YEP. Smut with feelings is my FAVOURITE thing. I prefer sensual descriptions, because it is all about feelings and sensations with me. as an ace writer, I also like kink and monster fuckery heheheh.

10 - Do you write crossovers?

Not at all ahahahaha. Have I ever written a crossover? I don't think so. I love AUs though, and pacific rim AUs are one of my favourite concepts in fandom.

11 - Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Yes, and it was teen wolf, and honestly not one of my best. it was a hatchet job, they took random paragraphs and spliced it / wrote around it? someone flagged it to me in a comment, and it was taken down. all in all, a very weird experience.

12 - Have you ever had a fic translated?

No, but gosh, that'd be cool! <- stealing from lexi, agreed, would be awesome <3

13 - Have you ever co-written a fic before?

YES. It was FUN. It was a series of conversations between an estranged father and son, Colm and Milo Greer, with the incredibly talented @frenchiefitzhere (also tagging you for this meme!!). it's still one of my favourite things: An Honest Man Like Yourself

14 - What's your all time favorite ship?

ALL TIME FAVOURITE? How dare you. I love all my ships afjkdsfg Shakarian is pretty high up there. Kastle (karen page/ frank castle). All the werewolves from redacted. <3

15 - What's a WIP that you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

ahhhh. okay. 'wander. wonder.' my poly longfic. don't hate me, but honestly, I've just not got the space for a longfic at the moment. never say never, but I've caught up with the chapters I had worked up, everything else is a vague outline. <3

16 - What are your writing strengths?

oof. I want to say character. most of the fun for me when writing is getting inside a characters head and figuring out their voice >:3

17 - What are your writing weaknesses?

Structuring longer, multi-chaptered stories - basically figuring out the pacing of it. I'm working on an original project, and I love it, but the first series of major edits will be breaking up my alternating POV sections into proper chapter breaks and letting myself linger more in moments instead of pushing forward (habits of a oneshot writer fdsds)

18 - Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I've been meaning to have my estonian friend critique my estonian, but I'm pretty positive the 'bond' I referred to is actually the money kind, and not the emotional attachment I'd been hoping to refer to hfjdkssfdg. I do as much research as I can, but it's best to run it past someone who speaks the language!

hehehehe naruto. yep. I was a naruto kid. first posted online in 2007......

20 - Favorite fic you've written?

WHAT A QUESTION. honestly, I love what I have been writing the last three years. I've really let myself just write what I want to read, and it's been great. i'm going to cheat, and say the original project I'm working on that I won't let anyone see heheheh. <3 it's got werewolves, kink and explicit consent, and spun out a whole verse for me to play with (and a fun MMF sidestory that I also need to finish...)

Me having thoughts on my self dug rabbit hole that is Sterek...

You know, I originally watched Maze Runner for Thomas Brodie-Sangster. Didn't really care for Dylan as Thomas at all.

Scorch Trials is where I fell in love with him, cause Dylan is such an amazing actor

It wasn't until after American Assassin and my 3rd rewatch of the MAZE RUNNER trilogy did I actually wanted to see the where did Dylan O' Brien get famous from...

I watched the TEEN WOLF series around 2020 I think, I never even heard of it before...

I really wanted to watch it and NOT ship anyone.

But I HAVE EYES OKAY! THE STEREK WAS SO STRONG~

I'm so obsessed with the ship and the other characters that my art is almost ALL Sterek related, I have several AUs in my head...

I made a fan-comic (I have not made a comic in years), and now I'm 18k words to writing my first fic in a decade just to gaslight myself because I hated the movie so much.

Why am I ranting? Cause my mom and I are planning a Dylan O'Brien movie marathon and I'm having feelings

Fic Writer's Showcase Game

I was tagged by @there-must-be-a-lock - thanks!

Rules: Go to your published works on AO3 and list the first fic you ever published there, the last fic you published, any fic that you wrote for a fandom/ship only once, your favorite fic you wrote in the fandom/ship that has the most works, the fic you wish more people read, the fic you agonized over the most, the fic that sprang fully formed from your mind without any effort, and a work you are proud of—for whatever reason. <3

First Fic: Full Circle

So, this is how I got into writing fanfic. Someone on a non-fandom message board I was on was a big fan of fanfiction, and I thought, "Wow, I haven't thought about fanfiction since my X-Files days! I wonder what it's like now?" I went to FFN (this was pre-AO3) and the top fandom was Pirates of the Caribbean, which I didn't know much about, and I think the second top was High School Musical, and the third was X-Men. So I read some X-Men stories, especially Wolverine/Rogue, and one of them was a very compelling story about pregnancy loss which ended with a very ambivalent ending -- basically, a phone ringing and you don't know if the character will pick up. My friends, I COULD NOT SLEEP. I had experienced a pregnancy loss in the prior year, and I *had* to write a happy ending to this story. In retrospect, it was the RUDEST thing but I was new to fandom and I didn't know anything. I wrote it in an email and then eventually sent it to the author like a cat dropping a dead mouse in her lap, and she was very kind and encouraged me to post it. And that was ::checks notes:: at least a decade ago. Yikes.

Last Fic:

Chrome-Plated Heart Technically a WIP but it's all completed and is just posting twice a week until it's done. A Winterhawk Marvel Pacific Rim AU.

One-Hit Fandom:

I am kind of a serial fandom monogamist and once I'm in a fandom I tend to linger for a few years, so I only have one one-off in the Cabin Pressure fandom and it's more of a ficlet. A little Douglas Richardson & Martin Crieff cutscene from St. Petersburg. I don't even know their portmanteau!

Favorite Fic in the Fandom with the Most Works:

Lucky in Love

Wow, I had to check but I'm actually now tied for fandoms -- Marvel and Teen Wolf both have 18 fics each. So, I'll go with Marvel, and Lucky in Love, my first Winterhawk fic. I think it's rare to write a fic and then not want to change much about it a few years down the road, but I still reread this one from time to time and I still really like it! Fic I Wish More People Read:

Quriosity

Hmmm. It seems greedy to say so because it got a great reception, both within the 00Q fandom and just objectively in terms of number of hits, etc., but I feel like there's not as much crossover between the Bond fandoms and others I'm in, so if there's one fic of mine I would encourage people to take a chance and try if they know me from Marvel or Teen Wolf fandoms it's this one. There's a lot of fics in my repertoire that have themes of touch starvation / touch aversion but this one is the mostest.

Fic I Agonized Over the Most:

Freedom's Reach

I'm tempted to say the current fic I'm writing (my selkie!Bucky MTH2022 fic) but I think that's just a tendency to think whatever you're writing now is putting up the hardest fight. Freedom's Reach is my Winterhawk historical AU (e.g. American Civil War era) with mail order bride, and I don't know what I was thinking to write 1.) Inherently uneven power dynamic, which is something I typically dislike 2.) In an era I know nothing about 3.) Requiring frequent misunderstandings which I typically dislike. My poor beta @kangofu-cb is a saint for all the whining and self-doubt she had to put up with as I wondered whether I was walking all those lines.

Fic that Sprang Fully Formed: For Everything There is a Season

So, Google tells me that the Four Seasons Total Landscaping debacle happened on November 7th, 2020, which means that within the week I had started posting this fic, and I'm pretty sure I wrote it in one evening. What can I say, I was inspired to think of ... Pierce ... and his ... Restore America's Glory supporters ... getting a pile of manure dumped on him. Go figure.

Proud of for Whatever Reason:

Pretty When You Cry

I am NOT good at writing short, capture-a-pivotal-moment-and-let-it-speak-for-itself fics. As the length of this post attests, I am a prototypical ADHD overexplainer. This fic managed to be short and sweet and intensely smutty but with all the feels somehow crammed in. And then, to overexplain, I had to do a second chapter from the other POV but I like how (to me at least) it doesn't feel repetitive or boring; it's the same events and dialogue but the internal narrative is so different it's still interesting. So, yeah, smutty little feels fic with Winterhawk failing a one-night-stand, check it out. I think between nox and lou most of the Winterhawk regulars already got tagged, so I'm tagging outside the fandom or people I haven't caught up with in awhile so, um ... @flamingo-queen-writes , @drunktuesdays , @pantstomatch, @shatteredhourglass, @1000-directions ... and anyone who wants to do this; I haven't been online for a bit so I'm sure I missed a bunch!

I don't always respond to comments and I usually leave that to my co-writer (and partner in crime) Tibby since we both collaborate on most of the fics I post and they're more comfortable with responding to comments. But if it's a solo fic, then I work through my anxiety and respond to anyone who's kind enough to leave a comment because I genuinely love getting feedback and seeing people enjoy my work really inspires me to keep writing!

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Uhhh... That's gotta be my newer oneshot, Free Fall. It's a SoapGhost fic and a rewrite of the ending of MW3 (Yeah, you know the scene).

7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I've got a few (cause I'm a sucker for a happy ending) but the one I'm gonna go with has to be The Goal Isn't To Live Forever (It's To Create Something That Will). It's a part of the list above and it's currently one of my only completed, multi-chaptered fics.

8. Do you get hate on any fics (Art)?

Unfortunately, yeah. But mostly on my smut pieces (especially the ones that include a trans character).

Though I also remember recently getting a particularly rude comment accusing me of using chat ai to write my Geraskier fic, even though it was first published it way back in 2020, before chat ai was even a thing that people used.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yup. I usually stick to my comfort zone and write M/M stuff.

Though, in my longer fics, the smut isn't really the main focal point so I keep it pretty tame.

10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?

Oh boy. My co-author has actually got me hooked on a crazy rare pair to the point where we wrote a whole fic for it (and are working on the second in the series). It's a Daryl Dixon/Dean Winchester pairing set in the TWD universe.

A close second would be my Among Us x KiriBaku AU.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Nope, thank god.

12. Have you ever had a fic translated?

Yup! Someone reached out to me and asked to translate my FNaF: SB fic into Russian.

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

Sure have, but only with one other person.

14. What's your all-time favorite ship?

Omg, no! I have to pick!?

Well, if forced with a gun to my head, I supposed I'd have to say Rinch (John Reese x Harold Finch from the TV series Person of Interest). I love the show and the characters and the story and the world building. It's just a pairing that I will always keep coming back to no matter how many other ships/fandoms I fall into.

15. What's a wip you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

My KiriBaku x Among Us crossover fic. The main page, where I had planned out the entire fic, was accidentally deleted and I don't know if I'll ever recover from that since I'd have to rehash the entire rest of the story from scratch if I decided to one day come back to it.

However, that being said, I'm still holding out hope that I'll randomly get a burst of motivation for the story. Who knows.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'd say my strengths are writing angst, witty banter, and transition paragraphs (since my co-author often gets stuck going on tangents and writing really detailed scenes so they often ask for me to make a segue in order to get us to the next plot point, which works out for everyone).

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

My weakness is definitely in-depth, detailed scenes, hands down. It's kinda embarrassing, but my writing can sometimes lack the descriptive, engaging language necessary to make the story/situation/characters interesting (especially when it's decidedly not a writing day) and it often reads like boring exposition.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I am not fluent in anything other than English, but that doesn't exactly stop me from (relying heavily on google) and using other languages in my fics, especially if the character that I'm writing for prefers another language. Take Miguel O'Hara for example, who is canonically bilingual.

The same kind of goes for accents too. I try my best to emulate how it the words would sound while speaking it while writing dialogue. Take for example my SoapGhost fics, where both characters have a thick, distinct accent.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

Unofficially (as in never posted): Vampire Diaries.

First fandom I posted to Wattpad (yikes) when I was like twelve: BBC Sherlock

20. Favorite fic you've written?

Jeez, another difficult question. Um... I'm gonna go with What Is Meant To Be (Always Finds A Way), for several reasons.

It was the very first fic that I posted to my ao3 account.

It was the first multi-chaptered fic that I'd ever completed.

I managed to finish and post the final chapter on the day of my birthday (which was a pleasant surprise).

I love it so much that my co-writer and I are actually currently in the midst of lovingly revisiting/revising the entire fic to make it even better!

Duckling Pt. 9

Pairing: AU!Teen Wolf x Reader x AU!Avengers, Derek Hale x Reader

Word Count: 3k

Summary: Bucky and Peter attempt to conduct their own investigations.

A/N: Last updated December of 2020 😅 I'm out of practice and it's pretty clear in this installment. But it's exists, so I'm counting it as a win. Go me!

Steve was outside grabbing the mail when Bucky pulled up. He could barely look him in the eye when he declined his offer to prepare him something for lunch, saying he only stopped by to swap the bike for their pickup. He hated to keep something so important from his oldest friend, but if he told them, and he was wrong, they'd end up suffering the loss all over again.

Plus, he had a more pressing matter to tend to: finding out who this boyfriend of yours was.

The drive to the garage wasn’t long, and he still didn’t know what he was going to say as he walked through the door into the office.

“Hello, I’m Peter. Can I help you?”

Oh, hell no. The guy who approached Bucky had to be somewhere in his early 30s. He felt the air leave his lungs as he searched for the right words. Rage began to build when the guy only rose a brow at him.

“Yeah,” Bucky growled. “Your girlfriend called you earlier for me about some Chevelle parts.”

“My girlfriend?” Bucky noted the man’s confusion, and immediately began to relax. It appeared this was not the man you were involved with. “You must’ve spoken to my nephew. He’s in here.”

The man beckoned him to follow him into the garage, but Bucky stopped short at seeing a familiar figure kneeling on the floor.

The man reached for the stereo and turned it down. “Derek, this gentleman’s here to pick up some parts.”

“Right.” Derek looked up, the same apathetic expression on his face that Bucky wanted to punch. “For the Chevelle?”

“Yes. You’re- Y/N’s boyfriend?” Bucky asked, almost forgetting to call you the name the boys at the shop used.

At the mention of your name, Derek’s demeanor changed; his features visibly perked and his back straightened. He looked almost proud as he replied, “That’s right.”

Bucky ignored Derek’s uncle when he excused himself to tend to another customer, and only stared at Derek’s retreating back as he went to wash his hands to retrieve the parts for him.

‘Hey, Beautiful’, the words he greeted you with came back to Bucky. He’d heard Derek’s voice before, and he should’ve recognized it, but the tone was different. He sounded pleased, not bored or annoyed like Bucky had heard every other time.

Though he’d only spoken to you for a few minutes, he could tell you were a good, sweet kid. You were friends with the sheriff’s kid for goodness sake! He couldn’t figure how you could get caught up with someone like him; how a hooligan like Derek could even stand a chance with someone like you.

Then he remembered Natasha’s interest in him. Of course that’s what it was. He was big, good-looking, and aloof. A textbook ‘Bad Boy’, and you’d fallen for his charm. The thought made him sick to his stomach, and he was about to storm out when he remembered how he snubbed Natasha. Was it because of you? Somehow, he didn’t see a guy like Derek having any respect for anyone or anything, let alone a high school relationship.

Yet, he didn’t recall ever seeing Derek alone with a girl, nor him paying much attention to the ones who spoke to him. The only time was just before the first game of the lacrosse season, but did that even count? Both girls were made up, with their hair done nicely. Surely they wouldn’t do that if they were playing, thus the jerseys they wore had to belong to their significant others, didn’t they?

Bucky also remembered Derek wearing a lacrosse jersey that day, yet being surprised to see him running down the stands at a later game when Brock tackled another player who turned out to be… a girl. One who had Derek worried she’d been hurt.

“That son of a bitch,” he seethed. God help Brock Rumlow if it turned out it was you he attacked that night.

There was something about the memory of that night that didn’t quite sit well, and just as it was making its way to the forefront of Bucky’s mind, Derek returned.

Bucky looked through what he had, and apart from needing a thorough cleaning, the parts were in fairly good condition. Derek stood by, never rushing him, taking note of what Bucky set aside to purchase. When he finished, Derek gave him an invoice to take to Peter to settle, and returned to his work. Annoyance began to build in Bucky again, watching Derek dismiss him and turn the radio back on like he wasn’t still there.

As Peter was finishing up the transaction, Bucky checked his phone to see if Sharon had gotten in touch yet. She hadn’t. Derek didn’t come out again, so Peter helped Bucky take everything to the truck.

As worried as he was about the situation regarding his Duckling, he couldn’t wait til Peter, his Peter, got back from school to show him what he’d found. He knew it was going to drive him crazy to have to wait until they got back to work on his car, but at least it meant he wouldn’t be sad when it was time to return home.

Natasha sat at Peter’s table at lunch the rest of the week, and fewer people joined them. By Thursday, it was only the two of them, Shuri, T’Challa, and Clint left.

Peter was glad Clint made an effort to be friendly, even more so that Nat seemed to respond favorably to the attention. He didn’t want to believe the rumors about Derek, especially after reading about all the awful things he’d been through, but he couldn’t free himself of the sliver of doubt that took residence in his mind.

"Mom?" Peter piped up from the back seat. "Can you drop me off in town? I need to go to the library."

Peggy's eye quickly flicked to him in the rearview. "I'll drop these guys off and bring you after so I can wait."

"It's alright," Peter replied, almost suspiciously quick. "I just have some stuff I want to get done before spring break. I can call Bucky to pick me up when I'm done."

"Nerd," Nat teased, though her usual tone was softened.

"Are you sure?"

"Just drop him off," Nat huffed in annoyance. "Besides, don't you still have stuff to do before we leave?"

"I don't know, I don't really like the idea of you guys being out by yourselves. This place is still new to us."

"The sheriff's station is halfway up the block from the library," Nat said. "How much trouble could he possibly get into?"

At the mention of the station, Peter swallowed thickly and averted his gaze out the window. There was no way Nat knew that's where he really wanted to go, was there?

Peggy sighed, and changed directions toward downtown. “Alright, but as soon as you’re finished, you call someone to come get you, alright? And wait inside until we get here.”

He agreed, and a few minutes later the car pulled up in front of the library. After promising one last time he wouldn’t wait outside, he got out of the car and quickly made his way inside the building. He waited by the windows, watching the car make its way around the parking lot and back out onto the street. Once he was certain the car was well on its way home, he went right back out the door and headed toward the station.

The sheriff's shift had only just begun, and he was already reaching for the painkillers in his desk to fend off the looming headache.

"So he was looking at her?" he asked, reiterating his son's claim. "While she was speaking to him?"

"No, he was leering," Stiles corrected. "Like a leering creep."

Noah looked up toward Scott, hoping to get a more factual account than the more-than-likely exaggeration Stiles provided.

"Maybe not leering," Scott admitted sheepishly, "but he was staring pretty intensely the whole time we were there."

"Just at her?"

"Yeah, he barely paid any attention to us," Stiles said, while Scott nodded in agreement. "He didn't even ring everything up right."

Scott cleared his throat, while Noah's eyes focused on his son.

"So you stopped at the shop after your camping trip, and while you and Scott were collecting your items, the owner was preoccupied with Y/N?"

Stiles huffed in exasperation. "Yes!"

"What were you buying?"

Scott tried to hide a smile behind his fist, while Stiles stared back at his father like a deer caught in the headlights.

"Uhhhh…"

"You lost the fishing things again, didn't you?"

"What? No! Ok, maybe like three or four of them, but I think the real issue here is that this guy was leering-"

"Staring intensely."

"Not helping, Scott!" Stiles snapped. "You don't get it. We could've walked out of there with arms full of stuff, and he wouldn't have noticed. This guy was completely focused on her, and it was…" Stiles paused, taking a shaky breath. "It scared me, Dad."

Biting the inside of his cheek, Noah nodded in understanding. "Alright. Where is she?"

"At home. I don't think she saw what we did. Said he seemed nice, but a little out of it."

There was a knock at the door, and an officer peeked in. “Someone to see you, Sheriff.”

“Send them in,” he said, lowering his voice to continue addressing his son. “I’ll look into it. Just keep an eye on her and- Peter! Hello!”

“Hi Sheriff,” Peter waved awkwardly. “Do you have a minute?”

“Yeah, these guys were just leaving. This is my son Stiles and his friend Scott. Boys, this is Peter Rogers,” he introduced, sending Stiles a pointed look. “His family just moved here from New York. They opened that outdoor store just outside of town.”

Peter felt a gnawing feeling in the pit of his stomach as the two boys shared a look. They quickly smiled, said their hellos and goodbyes before rushing out the door. He thought he’d paid enough attention when he was doing his research, but apparently he hadn’t.

The sheriff gestured for him to take a seat, but every step he took further into his office felt heavier and heavier. Peter's eyes scanned the room, a mixture of the sheriff’s credentials and family photos adorning the far wall. When they landed on a group photo, Peter swallowed thickly at seeing it was of the boys he'd just met and a girl. The photo next to it was of the same girl, looking pretty cozy with the guy Peter came to talk to the sheriff about.

"Peter? Is everything alright?" Noah asked.

"Um," he faltered, words like 'conspiracy and 'cover up' immediately flashing in his brain. "Yeah, yeah. I just… my family's going to be out of town next week."

Noah could tell when most people were lying, and this kid may as well have had a sign over his head that read "LIAR" as he spoke.

"Ok…"

"I was…uhh…" Peter racked his brain for something, anything that he could say to explain himself. If the sheriff noticed when the light bulb went on, he didn't react. "I was just wondering how safe it’ll be. My house, I mean… Um… you know?”

Noah nodded slowly, trying to figure out what it was the boy really came to say. “You mean, from a robbery.”

“Yes.”

“Well,” he sighed. “It’s pretty safe. I mean, there’s always a chance a window gets left open and a burglar seizes the opportunity. But, it’s more likely that a family of racoons will make themselves at home, or if food gets left in the trash it might attract a bear.” Peter only nodded in response. “If you like, I can send a patrol out once in a while to make sure nothing’s going on.”

He visibly perked, grabbing onto the lifeline the sheriff just gave him. “Yeah! That sounds great, thanks!”

Noah smiled at him, leaning back in his chair to appear relaxed. “What else is on your mind.”

Peter blanched, swallowing thickly. “N-nothing!” he squeaked.

“Are you sure?”

“I’m sure!” he rapidly nodded, backing toward the door. “Thanks for the patrol. To my house. I have to go now. Homework. Wanna get it done before spring break.”

“Peter,” Noah spoke, stopping the boy’s ramblings. He felt a little guilty at the almost panicked look the boy gave him. “Have fun.”

“Th-thanks. You too. I mean…” He smiled bashfully when the sheriff only waved. “Right. Bye!”

Noah watched him practically stumble over his feet rushing through the door, smile fading once it closed at his peculiar behavior. Still, he made a note to assign a deputy to pass by a few times while the Rogers’ were gone. On a separate note, he wrote another reminder to look into one ‘James Barnes’, not only for Stiles’ peace of mind, but his own now as well.

* * * * * * * * * * * *

Dinner that night was a hodgepodge of leftovers and any fruits and vegetables in an attempt to clean the fridge of all food that wouldn’t keep while they were away. They got a kick out of it, the twins even cleaning their plates. The only one who seemed not to enjoy it was Peter, who only picked at his food until someone asked if he was alright. If anyone noticed the way he forced himself to finish, they didn’t mention it.

The kids only had one day of school left before break, and the excitement was making it difficult for them to settle down for the night. Eventually, all the kids had made it to bed just after midnight, and Steve and Peggy not long after that.

Bucky was restless, the events of that afternoon replaying in his head. He would nearly convince himself it wasn’t you, then remembered the way you smiled, the sound of your laugh, and the way you stopped when he called after you. It HAD to be you. He didn’t know what to do. He felt useless; the way he did all those years ago when you went missing.

He got out of bed and got his shoes on, quickly throwing a coat on before grabbing his keys. He could at least do what he did last time; search. And this time, he knew he’d find you. This time, he knew you were in town. He descended the stairs, practically tearing the door off its hinges as he flung it open to step outside, nearly ramming into someone standing on the porch.

“Shit!” he hissed, startled. “Sharon?”

She stared at him, wide eyed. “Where?”

Bucky looked behind him into the house, and once he saw no one stirred at the commotion, he quietly closed the door behind him. He took her arm, gently leading her toward what he assumed was her rental car. She unlocked it, and they climbed in.

They sat in silence for a moment; Bucky regaining his composure, and Sharon anxiously awaiting an explanation for the voicemail he left.

“A girl walked into the shop today,” he paused, taking a shaky breath. “I looked at her and I … all I saw was her. Same eyes, smile, everything. Since then, I’ve been trying to decide if it’s in my head, but…” he turned to Sharon, both their eyes now glassy. “I swear it’s her.”

Sharon nodded, wiping her eyes. “Alright,” she said, starting the car. “Let’s go to the store and check out the security footage.”

The car ride was silent, save for the directions Bucky gave to the shop. Inside, Sharon set her laptop up next to the computer in the office while Bucky pulled up the footage. There was no sound, unfortunately, but he didn’t think it mattered when he heard Sharon’s breath catch when you appeared on the screen. The look she gave him made him even more nervous than he was before; it was hopeful.

She copied the video to her own computer, and pulled out a pen and a worn notebook she’d dedicated to your case.

“I need everything, Bucky. No matter how unimportant it may seem.”

Bucky groaned, rubbing his face in exasperation. “I don’t have much. Her name’s Y/N. At least, that’s what the boys called her. She drives a 1953 yellow Skylark.” Sharon let out a low whistle. “Maybe her last name is Lang, maybe she goes to Beacon Hills High, and maybe she plays lacrosse.”

“Anything else?”

“She’s dating some punk, Derek Hale. His family owns a garage over on Evergreen Blvd. And she’s friends with the sheriff’s son.” Sharon frowned at that. “What?”

“That might complicate things,” she said. “He may not take too kindly to me questioning him about her.”

Bucky sighed. “Yeah, but you can submit your findings to authorities and get a warrant, right?”

“Yeah, but do you have any idea how long that takes? And I have to have enough evidence to bring to the authorities in the first place, which will be difficult if-”

“If the sheriff doesn’t cooperate. Right.”

Sharon switched her attention back to her computer. “Bucky, can you keep a secret?”

He looked at her, not bothering to hide his offense. “You know I can.”

“Under oath? If it comes to that?”

“What are you thinking?”

She cast him a determined look; one that people tended to shrink from. “I'm wondering if I can start working or if I need to wait for you to leave the room.”

Bucky nodded, carefully considering his words. “I’ll do anything if it gets her back.”

Sharon hummed in appreciation, pulling up a black screen on her computer. “You gave me a good starting point; the car.” She smiled at Bucky, unable to contain her excitement. “How many cars like that do you think are registered in the area?”

“Not many,” he replied. “Why is this a secret? Can’t you access this stuff legally?”

“Yes, but you have to fill out paperwork, jump through all these legal hoops, and who has time for that?” She typed into the black screen, on some format that looked primitive to what he was used to seeing. “It’s been twelve years, Bucky, and this is still only the beginning. Haven't we waited long enough?”

Before he could answer, the screen pinged, the results of her search popping on screen.

“How ‘bout that? One hit.”

“Registered to Y/N Lang, 31 Windflower Lane, Beacon Hills.” They shared a look, and this time both were grinning. “Wanna go for a quick drive?”

Counting down the hours - a numbers update!

Since the update yesterday evening, THIRTY more creators have signed up for another THIRTY EIGHT offers … including a signup for Goncharov, NINE new write-in fandoms, and FIVE more folks willing to work in any fandom.

Sherlock has managed to tie up fifth place in the listed fandoms, sharing the spot with Teen Wolf. And the tenth spot is now a 4-way tie between Merlin, Original Work, The Sandman, and The Witcher.

Under the cut is a list of the Unlisted Fandoms with just one write-in. A single sign up would bump them up the list. A handful of signups can completely shake things up.

I find this list hilarious because it's expected, but also mostly not indicative of my tastes... fic 1 was the first fic the account has & it's boring as hell. modern aus put me to sleep. the reincarnation fic is exactly 300 words so does it even count.... the other two I enjoyed writing at least!

do you respond to comments?

I TRY TO... In practice it mostly happens 6 months later. Sometimes I give up on entire fics because I don't want to only respond to some comments, and if someone comments on more than one fic I don't wanna spam them! T___T so I want to reply to only one of theirs. but this again makes it look like I'm only replying to some ~> endless loop of stress omfg... my heavens this is a science

what's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

what's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

grouping these together because I have no idea. so much of my writing is for others so I doubt anything truly angsty is in there, since people rarely like it. and EYE hate super happy endings, so that probably hasn't happened either.

do you get hate on fics?

no, because I'm perfect. (I don't think I've written for any fandom that's prone to leaving hate comments.)

do you write smut? if so, what kind?

sure! but only 11 of the 67 fics have an M or E rating for sexual content, so not often. As for what kind... I don't know? I'll try anything once! The closest thing to a real answer I have is that I find F/F smut easier to write than M/M & I'm NGL, I'll take any opportunity to write (imply) stone tops, because it's something I always wish there was more of.

do you write crossovers? what’s the craziest one you've written?

Only once! It's actually the one thing I feel too embarrassed to write... alienselffucking is okay, but I draw the line at making people aware I like my faves meeting my other faves!

have you ever had a fic stolen?

have you ever had a fic translated?

Does paragraph-style roleplay count? I did that for a few years!

what's your all-time favorite ship?

WHY WOULD YOU ASK ME THIS. I am on the floor. I'm a multishipper for a reason!!! I can't have fave ships!

The only ship that has ever made me monofannish for a little bit though was Magnus Bane/Alec Lightwood from Shadowhunters TV show, which at the time felt very random (that is NOT a high quality tv show), but now it does kind of make sense

they're on opposite sides & both are high ranking (avoiding fealty kink yesssss. I am so tired of fantasy ships with fealty kink.)

there's internalised homophobia

MONSTERS. I love WEAPONRY and FIGHTING

they have a breakup arc that stems from the opposite sides-ing

there are honest mistakes & fucking up

I love things that leave open the possibility of immortality

Not enough cannibalism and vore and stabbing each other going on there for me to continue being monofannish, but it was a pretty big accomplishment!

what's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

I only write oneshots.

what are your writing strengths?

I HATE THIS QUESTION. I don't know! I think I'm solid in many areas & not yet exceptional in any (but I believe in me! One day!)

Prose economy is the thing I pride myself most in, I guess. Running on implication rather than explanation. I also like to think I'm good at understanding lots of different character motivations.

what are your writing weaknesses?

My heavens x100. Can't write anything long. The prose economy thing bites me in the ass often -- paragraphs read clunkier than they should & there are some things that DO need explaining. The fact that I have an ego the size of Jupiter and believe that nothing will stay a weakness, even if it takes me 30 years to fix it. I can't write humour. I can't write tropey, "fun" fic. I'm slow, like VERY slow. Like 200 words an hour slow. I can't write "iddy" fic. I can't write without having an ending in mind. I can't write if I don't have a point in mind. I can't write if I don't read at least 20 pages of prose I enjoy beforehand. I don't think my dialogue sucks but I don't think it's good either.

thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

If the character mixes languages, I'm in favour! I don't much like it when the words are italicised or have their first letter capitalised, though -- I'm always against anything that marks a word or culture as "the other". Also sometimes the sentences end up profoundly unserious, a la "Today I joined my Abuela to go to the Mercado to buy some Berenjenas."

AH. I don't know. So few of my fics reflect my tastes! I'll settle on saying a currently unrevealed one.

Thanks for the tag, @thotpuppy! I've been thinking about this off and on the last couple of days. I really do enjoy this sort of thing, both reading others and making my own. Blank after the cut.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

135. 23 of which are drabbles

2. What’s your total AO3 word count?

354,120 total, all since the beginning of 2020

3. What fandoms do you write for?

The big ones are Teen Wolf and Black Jewels., but I also write Perilous Courts and The Hollows, along with some other assorted SFF book fandoms. I have a lot of Men's Hockey RPF fics, but rarely revisit the fandom. Spideypool's another fandom I fell out of at some point.

4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?

Tell Me No Lies (Spideypool, 5k. Explicit, grocery store meet-cute)

my heart was connected (Teen Wolf Steterek, 11k. Explicit. fake SO for the holidays that grew legs and ran away with me)

I give hell my worst (Spideypool, 5.5k. Explicit, merman Peter Parker and pirate Wade Wilson)

just give me one thing that I can hold onto (Teen Wolf Sterek, 9k, Explicit, Derek and Stiles keep waking up naked in the woods)

Joke's On You (The Witcher, Emralt, 12k, soulmates get married for Reasons)

5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?

I try to respond, but sometimes it takes me a while, especially when I have a lot I want to say.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

Probably it kind of vanishes away (Teen Wolf Dargent, 866 words, Explicit, two sad and lonely men getting off together)

7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

I don't know what I would say is the happiest, so I'm going to go with the kitten is happy (Perilous Courts Julien/Whisper, 300 words, Gen) because it's the most unequivocally happy ending I've written in ages.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

No, I've been pretty fortunate. I've gotten a few shitty comments, but nothing I felt the need to dwell on. Another commenter yelled at someone for one of them once, months after the fact. That made me laugh.

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yes. I don't know what this means by kind, exactly. I write a lot of wall/door sex and work knotting in whenever possible, especially if I can make it accidental.

10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written?

As a general rule, no, but I did co-write a Spideypool/Men's Hockey RPF one where Peter Parker was the guy inside the Gritty suit.

11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?

Just the one mentioned in #10

14. What’s your all time favourite ship?

Daemon Sadi/Lucivar Yaslana from Black Jewels

15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

Black Jewels modern AU of sorts where magic comes back and I strip out all of the gender bullshit

16. What are your writing strengths?

Characterization is my greatest strength, without doubt. I'm also good at writing banter and funny moments during smut.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I'm really bad at planning ahead or sticking to a plan I've made. I think overall it's worked out in my writing, but it can get me in trouble during the process. Plot in general isn't a major strength for me.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

I've done a curse or two, but in general I avoid it both because I don't speak any other languages and because I don't think there are many good ways to incorporate translations.

19. First fandom you wrote for?

A Princeling walks into a bar

This is based on an au I introduced in 2020 for the NyxNoct week (Chapter 7 of the Heroic Start by Shiary on AO3).

Rating: Teen +

Warnings: Slightly graphic violence near the end. Implied character deaths.

Tags: Hurt/Comfort, implied character deaths, Nyx Ulric/ Noctis Lucis Caleum, eventual fluff, no major character deaths, Dark-ish Nyx, Royalty AU.

Summary: Having a prince work at his bar was not what Nyx had in mind when he returned home.

Nyx leaned on the counter as the calls for drinks slowed down, and watched as his newest employee worked. The last thing he had expected when his father had told him about the princeling's fate was for him to work at his and Libs' bar.

And for him to be so good at it.

"Careful Nyx," Crowe suddenly appeared in front of him. "If you keep staring like that, someone is going to think you have a crush on the boy."

Nyx simply raised a brow, "Well, he is cute." The look Crowe laid on him was judgemental to the extreme. "What? I'm not going to bang him. He's Ramuh's."

"Uh uh? Is that the only reason why you're not banging him?"

Nyx swatted at his friend with a mock growl. "You know I don't do casual. Now shoo! I've got work to do." Crowe cackled as she headed back to rejoin their friends. Pelna and Luche were in the midst of a fierce argument about something or another, an occurrence that happened more often than not. If the snatches of words Nyx could occasionally hear were any indication, they were arguing about an abandoned boat that they had found yesterday evening.

He didn't get to eavesdrop more as the Princeling approached with a scowl. Before Nyx could do more than raise a brow, his newest snarled out, "Can I kick someone out?"

Nyx hummed, eyes going towards the Princeling's area. He immediately knows what had gotten the Princeling's ire. "Ah. Feel free to kick them out." There were several drunk members of the Furia clan smirking at his the Princeling's ass. "That lot's way too drunk to be in here." He paused then turned his gaze to the slim man shifting his weight from side to side.

"Tell you what. I'm giving you permission to use your magic IF you make it a show." Nyx smirked as he jerked his head towards Crowe, who had been hounding his the Princeling for info on Lucis Caelum magic.

Prince Noctis glanced over at Crowe, growled for a moment before his shoulders slumped. His acceptance of the bargain came as a drunken Furia wolf whistled. Nyx glared at them. They knew his no harassment policy, and while they had gotten way too drunk and started shit before, this was the first time they were being this obnoxious and inappropriate.

Nyx was half-tempted to kick them out himself. He was the Prince of Galahd and one of the owners of The White Coeurl. Yet before the thought had passed through his mind, Prince Noctis turned around, Nyx barely getting the glimpse of a too-pleasant smile being plastered on with practiced ease, and striding over the assholes' table.

"Thank you for the compliment, dear customer." The Princeling was halfway there. The bar grew quiet and Nyx leaned forward. His The Princeling's mannerism had changed, from silently infuriated to what Nyx clearly recognized as the 'you have fucked up' face used by Elders during negotiations. Apparently, the Furias were too drunk to recognize even that as they allowed Prince Noctis to reach their table. "In exchange for it, I would like to offer you a present in return."

As the five drunks leaned towards him, Prince Noctis dips into a flourished bow, sweeping an arm out and the other behind his back. Nyx glanced over at Crowe, who was looking with dedicated interest, and when his gaze returned on Prince Noctis it was to see a small bottle being slammed between them all.

A pillar of fire erupted at the center of the table, forcing the Furias to jump back while screaming. The prince wasted no time as he reached out, grabbed the closest Furia and threw them out the open window.

“Hey Princeling! You’d better not have damaged that fucking table!” Libertus, having come to join them from his kitchen snarled.

Nyx was impressed by the strength his the princeling had but he had expected a show. Not a cheap trick. Just as he was able to tell his server to up the show, the guy grabbed a second Furia and warped them to the first one.

Now that was like it.

A third Furia snarled as they threw themselves at his the princeling. His figure fractured into blue crystal as the Furia went through him. Another push and they joined the other two outside.

Prince Noctis turned to the last two Furias with the same overly polite smile from before. "Would you like an encore?" Apparently the fire show and seeing their friends get thrown out had sobered them up as they turned tail and ran.

The bar exploded in applause, and his Fuck when had he become his? Princeling blushed as he realized just how much attention he'd gathered. Nyx forced himself to look away from his cute prince and towards Crowe only to wince at the hungry look in her eyes.

The princeling wasn't going to be getting much peace and quiet tonight, not now that Crowe had seen his magic. Libertus might just make things worse if the table had been damaged. Nyx grinned as he allowed his friends to deal with the surprisingly useful prince.

F: Share a snippet from one of your favourite dialogue scenes you've written and explain why you're proud of it.

this one took a lot of thought, but i settled on this snippet from bacchanalia (it was always going to be a distortion fic, to be honest)

“Who are you?” Jon asks, listening to his own voice echoing the question back at him. Her name is not Helen, because she isn’t real, she tells him. None of this is real. “I already knew that,” he tells her, and she laughs. That echoes too.

i think i like it less for the dialogue itself, both in this section and their later section of conversation, and more for the way i conveyed it. it's not subtle, perhaps, but i enjoyed having helen's dialogue conveyed as indirect dialogue, and how that showed what this place had done to her, how unreal she felt - or even was

I: Do you have a guilty pleasure in fic (reading or writing)?

tropey vampire fic. my one weakness. i've started writing at least one vampire fic for all of my major fandoms, even if they don't always get finished. (rip the four chapters of the homestuck vampire AU i was writing before i lost half a chapter to technical issues and so lost interest)

also, "character who was weak compared to other characters is secretly badass/powerful" is the reason i've read as many teen wolf and witcher fics as i have. i've barely watched teen wolf, and i'm not especially invested in the witcher in a fannish way. but those fics are good food for me if i can ignore/filter out the character bashing.

L: How many times do you usually revise your fic/chapter before posting?

like, once, if that. when i wrote fic on paper (which, jesus, that's three years ago now), the process of writing it up would be a revision process for me. for a while, i had a similar process where i'd have a blank document open and "write it up" from the finished document

now... well, it's harder to say right now, because a lot of my recent fics have either been A) me polishing up something i started months/years ago that's good enough to post, and i just want to clear it out of my brain without thinking about it too hard, or B) fics that have taken me a lot of very granular work where i've done a lot of rewriting during the initial drafting process

M: Got any premises on the back burner that you'd care to share?

i have a lot for The Untamed, mostly because i spent a week or so going through all of the kinkmeme prompts from 2020 to the present and saving any that i was remotely interested in writing. so now i have over 100 claims on AO3

but beyond those, i have a few ideas all of my own, and still some WIPs for TMA and Arcane that who knows if i'll ever manage to finish. i'm realising now that i haven't actually shared any premises but uh. too many ideas!

(hey, do you remember the homestuck faery dance/masquerade fics i think i mentioned to you back in like. 2016/2017? that's still a premise on the back burner that i want to finish somewhen. i have it all planned out except even years later, i haven't got an ending)

Z: Major character death—do you ever write/read it? Is there a character whose death you can't tolerate?

i've written it four times, according to AO3, and i'm sure i've read it, but i can't think of any examples

the ones i've written are two where the death is a canon death, and two where it's basically... everyone dies except the characters i'm focusing on. (actually, i might have a third one like the latter, but it's not tagged MCD)

i don't tend to go to fics for fix-its, so major character death is fine for me if it works for the story + the characters, and if it isn't in service of characters/relationships that i don't care about
